Reverse Bear Trap kills are always satisfying.
Otherwise it's completely out playing someone who thinks they are good but are actually trash.
-
The best way to balance this is to allow the killers to open the doors themselves.. whoops

Here is a video to teach you the basics of how to play Bubba.
Sorry the file must be corrupted. Please ignore this and I'll just explain how to play him in the guide.
First thing we need to discuss is the perks and add-ons you will need in order to play Bubba to his full potential.
Perks:
Pop Goes The Weasel (PGTW), Barbecue and Chilli (BBQ), Nemesis and Play With Your Food (PWYF).
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/9VPBW34TYKSC/20200608-192338.jpg
PWYF is a Shape teachable and Nemesis is a Oni teachable. These two perks are the reason Bubba goes from a D tier killer to a low A/ high B tier killer.
PWYF gives you a 3/4/5% speed increase when you lose the obsession in a chase. These are shown in the form of stacks on the perks icon. You can only have a maximum of 3 stacks at any given time. Any form of attacking action will lose you a stack of PWYF.
Nemesis will allow you to swap obsessions if your stunned by a survivor. This can be by pallet drop, flashlight, Decisive Strike or Head-On. It will also give the survivor who stunned you the oblivious status effect for 40/50/60 seconds.
PGTW is a Clown teachable which will allow the killer to regress any gen by 25% when kicked, 40/50/60 seconds after hooking a survivor. This perk is extremely good at slowing down the game.
BBQ is a Bubba teachable. After hooking a survivor the auras of survivors outside of a 40m range will be shown to the killer. It can be countered by survivors hiding in lockers, perks or hiding behind gens. Everytime you hook a survivor for the first time you gain a stack. Every stack earned will increase your bloodpoints at the end of the game by 100%. You can earn 2/3/4 stacks per game, at 25% per survivor.
Bubba's chainsaw by itself is quite weak. The problems are:
- He gradually slows down from 115% movement speed to 86% movement speed while charging the chainsaw.
- Hitting objects will cause him to have a tantrum. This lasts a few seconds but it can still down survivors.
- He needs to be right behind the survivor (touching distance) before charging the chainsaw. He won't catch up to them otherwise when using it.
These perks help negate most of Bubba's chainsaw weaknesses:
- PWYF gives him the speed increase to get closer to the survivor quicker, meaning getting a chainsaw is a lot easier.
- Nemesis allows you to create an obsession anytime you want. This will help a lot in building up PWYF stacks.
- PGTW will give you the slowdown you need to help gain stacks of PWYF and to protect a 3/4 gen (which you want).
- BBQ gives you the information you need to know where the survivors are (especially the obsession) and to know what gens they are working on.
You NEED PWYF and Nemesis but if you don't have PGTW or don't want to run BBQ then here is some other good perks. These are in order from best to worst:
- Thrilling Tremors
- Infectious Fright
- Monitor And Abuse
- Brutal Strength
- Enduring
- Corrupt Intervention
Add-ons:
Charge Add-ons: (Carburetor Tuning Guide, The Grease, Primer Bulb and Spark Plug)
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/SLNE28XS5O2Q/20200608-203956.jpg
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/K2ZJO1SXUS4J/20200608-204022.jpg
Bubba's best add-ons are the 3 charge add-ons. These will allow Bubba to spend less time revving up his chainsaw before downing a survivor. Even just having the grey charge add-on is enough to stop a survivor vaulting a window.
Here is a video showing the difference between no charge add-ons and the worst 2 charge add-ons.
Movement Speed Add-ons: (The Beast's Marks and Knife Scratches)
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/SCWKRUU84TAN/20200608-202413.jpg
The movement speed add-ons increase your movement speed while using the chainsaw, at the expense of charge speed. The movement speed add-ons must be run with a charge add-on. These are good for longer loops but you usually would prefer the charge speed. I personally don't mind these add-ons but definitely wouldn't say they are great. Don't get these confused with the Award-Winning Chili. This add-on is extremely bad and I wouldn't recommend ever using it.
Bumping Add-ons: (Carburetor Tuning Guide, Light Chassis and Depth Gauge Rake)
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/SY5VLYZ3YBUE/20200609-230526.jpg
The bumping add-ons are add-ons I've recently gotten to like. They are good if you make a mistake with the chainsaw but they are better for another purpose. If a survivor is near a locker while your using your chainsaw then they will jump into it to avoid the hit. If your a smart Bubba you'll hit to locker and have your tantrum which will hopefully lead to a survivor jumping out too early and getting downed. However an experienced survivor will know the exact time to jump out to avoid the chainsaw and the grab. If your running the bumping add-ons you recover from hitting the locker extremely quick, enough to mess with their muscle memory and get the locker grab.
Cooldown Add-ons: (Carburetor Tuning Guide, The Grease, Shop Lubricant and Vegetable Oil)
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/8NJY34QH42PM/20200608-204210.jpg
Lastly the cooldown add-ons. These add-ons reduce the time it takes to attack after finishing a chainsaw attack. The add-ons that focus only on cooldown are kind of weak actually and definitely aren't worth running. The only time I run either of these are when I'm using two grey add-ons as Bubba (Spark Plug and Vegetable Oil).
Gameplay:
Now that we understand what add-ons and perks to run, we must discuss other things to help improve you as a killer in general.
Looping:
- You want to have at least 1 stack of PWYF in every chase and maybe more if you can get it.
- Look down if a survivor is vaulting a window. Gives Bubba extra chainsaw range on windows.
- Never use the hammer unless absolutely necessary. These include someone who is already injured or you have no stacks and they are about to reach a pallet that you won't reach by just running.
- Never respect pallets! If a survivor is about to reach a pallet and your behind them start revving the chainsaw. This means if they don't drop it you get a free down or you force the pallet drop and gain a stack of PWYF.
- Be careful when moving around loops. Bubba's chainsaw has a very wide hitbox.
- Kick pallets. Never use chainsaw unless you have no stacks. If someone tries to blind you at a pallet look down while chainsawing to avoid the flashlight beam. If the flashlight user isn't the obsession it's probably worth getting blinded so they become your new obsession.
- Someone tries to loop a small tree/rock? Double back around to catch them off guard.
During Match:
- Always try and create a 3/4 gen. This is where 3 gens are near each other and you make sure they aren't completed. This will force survivors into one tiny area where you have hopefully gotten rid of every pallet. You want to stay at this half of the map for most of the game.
- Find out who your obsession is immediately. Look at the menu once the game loads in and check which survivor is the obsession. You want to find your obsession as soon as possible.
- DS, Head-on, pallet drops and flashlights are all ways to get stunned to create a new obsession. This is already described in the Nemesis section but I thought I'd mention it again.
Now I must say you won't always do well. You need to play well especially against good teams. He also isn't a S tier killer so don't expect to beat any team easily. I'm also a new Bubba player myself (only started playing him a month ago). This guide is to show how bring a D tier killer who is known as a camper into a low A tier killer who ends chases in 5 seconds.
Just to explain what I mean by A tier. I consider a killer in A tier someone who can beat pretty much any team, on any map and has really good snowball effect if played well. The only time you should lose is against a really good swf team or you make a lot of mistakes. S tier is killers who can beat any team, including good swf teams.
If you want more proof of Bubba's ability you can watch this short video. I don't facecamp or tunnel and any mori's brought were because I saw keys in the lobby. These are my last 30 games as Bubba excluding one game where I got 0 kills (my fault for playing bad).
*Warning red ranks may have been harmed in the making of this video*
Hope this was helpful. Hope to see more Bubba's in the fog and I hope you all stay safe.
I'm just going to accidentally leave this here. It may be proof that playing Bubba correctly makes him an A tier killer.
In particular look at the video near the end in order to see what I mean.

@Aven_Fallen I'm confused by your post which just mentions "It was never intended" but was not said, nor is it the topic of the post.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1346923#Comment_1346923
@bobcat946732 I honestly wouldn't mind playing SWFs when I play killer if an attempt were to be made to balance. Things like OoO should never be in the SWFs toolkit but BHVR have talked about buffing solo survivors which would mean buffing Killers but then I feel this would be like turning everyone into superheros which would likely not be what was originally good about the game.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1346925#Comment_1346925
@Furry_Fuccboi I'm not sure where you are heading with your comments but you are talking about now and my original post would help fix this.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1346926#Comment_1346926
@HP150 to be honest I only see the killer quitting posts. DBD isn't like Death Garden in many ways but if they don't balance it for the minority 'Yin' then the majority 'Yang' can't play. I liked and understood your post but don't agree that it should be accepted as BHVR have come a long way in improving their game and attempts to truly attempt to balance the game would create better long term harmony for their product and everyone.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1346937#Comment_1346937
@CashelP14 without straying too far off topic if BHVR were to show SWFs at end game people would realise they just have had a bad game or not even.
By balancing SWFs it would make killers not even consider whether to lobby dodge, the fact they do is terrible for all of us and creates toxicity, BHVR should really have made attempts to fix this sooner.
You basically ignored everything I said. Showing swf at the end of the game would be nice for information but a lot of killers would blame their potential loss or few kills on swf.
Balancing swfs? I'm playing as Bubba a lot recently, most games are grey add-ons and you'd be surprised how many I'm beating right now. Killers will still dodge swfs even if they were more "balanced" because they will still fear the tougher challenge.
Behaviour have made attempts. The recent map changes have been amazing for killers. Maps like farm and temple were tough maps to play as killer. Now I enjoy playing on both.
Answer me on this. Should solo see who the killer is? I don't see solo balanced to killer right now (because of the boosted randoms) so should we help them by telling them who the killer is?

Why are there 2 different threads from 2 different peoole with the same content?
Shhhh.. the attention grabbing isn't ment to be this obvious.
-
Some people say they're leaving to try to encourage the devs to make changes, even if they don't. They're multiple reasons why they won't show swfs before games:
- Obviously lobby dodging
- Blaming your losses on them
- Bringing stronger add-ons
- Being toxic just because they are swf
- Swf teams would face the same killers the whole time
This took me 30 seconds to think of all of these.
Also the attitude if its balanced then show it doesn't work in this game. I believe noed is balanced but that doesn't mean the survivors should know the killer has it.
I'd actually ask something. Since solo que and killer aren't balanced (in the killers favour) should solo que players be able to see who the killer is? Make it more fair for them so they don't leave.

This is technically towards both of you but for different reasons:
Good news is that David is confirmed to have a female ex in his archives. In Memory 342 it says "His ex has moved on and she doesn't want to see his face."
The bad news is that I don't care about canon and he will always be a gay icon in my heart.
Oh really? I was certain they were going to say he was gay. Just shows how little I read the lore lol the only relationship I knew about was Wraith and Nurse.
We'll see what happens either way.

Short answer: No
Middle answer: No
Long answer: No
Long long answer: Nooooooooooooooooooo!!
I hope that describes how I feel about the question.
-
That's good your happy with this mate ๐ sounds like this means a lot to you so it's good that it makes you happy. Sorry for your tough times.
Will say though that I hope they tell the orientation of everyone. Hope they just don't tell the orientation of the gay survivors/killers.
-
The thing from mortal kombat? I guess it's cool but it doesn't work. So instead of moring a survivor you let them live? Is that what you mean.
-
Tier 1 only Myers if I'm solo. Otherwise it's Bubba with his best build. Nothing scarier than a Bubba with 3 stacks of PWYF.
-
I got my teammates to bring in a grey toolbox each. We did this for all of the group members. Meant that we all got that challenge done in our first games.
-
Shocked you didn't get gg ez messages lol T-bagging toxic swfs also give swf teams a bad name. It's a shame the game is like this.
-
But what if they aren't a swf or red ranks or toxic? You've just wasted your offering.
Bubba seems to do a good enough job for me.

Also cut my eye before. The glasses I was wearing got caught on a net at a fun house. I was running and the nose part was then dragged up from my nose and went across my eye. The cream and drops had to be put in multiple times a day and it was horrible. The pain was also something else.

Well solo survivor does make for interesting stories and does force me to learn how to be a better survivor and loop the killer better. Which yeah, that is why anyone who plays with a team. It's very understandable. For at least you have some consistency with how bad or good your friends are and know what you are getting into.
What what. Nani nani? I think my brain just fry upon reading that. A spirit main, who is rank one. Who plays spirit more than any other killer, doesn't use their power during chases? Like i don't even play Spirit that much myself but even i was able to figure out, oh yeah using your power during a chase is a good idea. Like playing survivor and going against spirit, should teach you how useful her power is during a chase. So how did a Spirit main not figure this out? Which yeah, sounds like they gave up way to early. I have had games as killer, come down to the final three gens. Which would lead to turning the game around back in my favor.
Which yeah, the second part of that, does explain how they made it to rank one. Boosted animals all around.
It was worse because they relied heavily on ruin. They run it and surveillance and were relying way to heavily on it.
-
If you have Nemesis then it's quite easy..
BUBBBBBBBBAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!
(Have a guide on it)
-
As killer I usually message the survivors after. Just try to be nice and get a good conversation going. Usually get good replies back.

Yeah it more a coin flip, if you will get good/decent team mates or not as a solo survivor in red ranks. Saw a meg, who turn out to be a rank 4. Who would walk around in circles and be scare to death of touching a gen, until it was almost finish. Like only me and the other person, who i think was a Yui. Were the only people doing gens. While both of the megs were just acting like rank 20s, yet somehow got to red ranks.
That or a Jane who just kept jumping in and out of lockers, they didn't even have head on. They were a rank 2. Even did the classic ds into locker trick, after getting unhook. Heal them up, only for them to jump in and out of a locker again. Only me and one other survivor were doing gens. With the third person, kept trying to help the Jane and kept getting screwed over by them. I have no idea how they made it to rank 2, if that is how they normally act in a game. Like this is just a few stories i have from solo adventures as survivor. Sometimes you know the game is just going to end poorly, before it even reaches that point, just due to how your team mates are acting. Which does make me wonder, how many killer have reached red ranks or be forced into them, due to facing questionable survivors.
So you play solo survivor, get questionable teammates, then play with a good player.. what do you do next?
You add them to a swf squad since they are reliable. Then killer complain about the amount of really good swf teams.
I remember this vividly. Me and my 2 mates played against a rank 1 spirit main. I'm not joking when I say they weren't a rank 1 killer. After ruin was destroyed and 3 gens popped they just gave up and stood in the corner.
They were streaming so I decided to watch their next game. The team made this person look like a million bucks. Never fazed during chases but they somehow made this game into a competitive game where the killer got 3 kills and one got the door. Shockingly 2 rank 1 survivors and 2 other red ranks.
I just thought to myself "so this is why people think rank 1 swf teams are op".

Hmmm. What would your idea be? How would you make it harder to rank up? Maybe remove double pip at higher ranks?
Probably make the game rank you up based off points. Then improve the way you earn points. More points earned:
- During chases. Every action done while your getting chased gives you more points.
I would say more but I was having a few drinks last night with mates last night so I'm just a little hungover.

Yeah sometimes i wish it took longer to get through the lower ranks into the higher ranks. To help give people more experience and make them ready for the high ranks. Since it just seems like you blaze through the lower ranks with a mere snap of your fingers. I gave someone the hatch as killer and the game goes, you played well enough to get merciless killer, when i shown mercy and gave the last person the hatch. :P It does at times seem like the game just forces you into the higher ranks, even when you know jack about how to play survivor or killer effectively.
Too true mate. Red ranks should be "the best of the best" but it isn't really lol
-
Feng looks like she is slightly judging you on that lol

I was going to say a rank 1 killer knows to never give up, no matter how the game is going. Recently I've been shocked by the fake rank 1s I'm seeing..

Everyone who has ever played a game based on ranks knows that the "rank argument" has no validity. I could be a level 20, coming back to the game after a long break, and still be much better than a red rank. I could be someone who plays like a Platinum player on Rainbow Six Siege, but still be Gold because I've been matched against someone who is going to abuse glitches that make you go into walls or shoot through riot shields, while wielding them. And the reason why there are so many red rank survivors is because people who are bad tend to abuse easy stuff that is accessible to everyone. Which is Dead Hard, Decisive Strike, NOED. In all my DbD "career" I have always been against NOED. To this day, I still haven't used it. BUT, as much as I find it to be almost on par with DS and DH, at least you are playing with 3 perks until end game.
Yea we know about these bad red ranks. I want the players who aren't great at the game to find it tougher to rank up. The good players will rank up anyways whereas the bad players won't. At the minute people are getting carried to red ranks but it's not by these "crutch" perks. If they were then I'd probably not be seeing self care + urban evasion at red ranks but I still am. Some are but the really bad red ranks aren't.
The you could be rank 20 argument and still be better than red ranks is also correct. This is why anytime I see people complain as a lower rank about getting a "full red rank lobby" I always say that rank doesn't matter. The amount of boosted players at red ranks is quite hilarious tbh.

Mid tier killers can win but it will hard, but not like a low tier killers imo
For add-ons, i rarely use them, only when im having fun, but when i do i use Carbureto tuning guide and The grease, that are best add-ons for Bubba imo, there are few more but not very good, other are useless. I mean Homemade Muffler reduces Novice made by chainsaw lol, he Is not Hillbilly, he uses chainsaw when he Is behind you, there Is no point in even using it, i can name a lot more but i don't have time for it
When I meant mention the add-ons I meant the add-on changes I suggested lol not his current ones.
Right now I only use Spark Plug and Vegetable Oil. Getting consistent 4ks pretty much every game. Only had one game on badham where I didn't get more than 3 kills. I got none but it was through me playing crap and nothing to do with the survivors skill.
-
The reason killer lobbies are so good at red ranks, but bad as survivor is because there is too many red rank survivors. It has nothing to do with people leaving the game like people want to suggest.
Make ranking up as survivor harder, meaning less red ranks and quicker lobbies. Also stop red rank teams getting matched with rank 10 killers.

Well... im mabe not a main, but i played him a decent amount of time.
This addon rework won't do much.
As bubba you walk next to a survivor and charge the chainsaw when its shoved inside their asses. Charge speed helps a lot doing so they won't reach window/pallet meantime.
Everything else is more situational. Speed addons? They can work on some loops like the pig's ambush.
Probably his biggest problem is that, his power has no utility, just like hag or huntress, with a simple difference, his power doesen't have as much lethality as theirs.
Except this trio, every single killer has some utility, even deathslinger.
Charge add-ons are still his best but that won't change no matter what. I tried to make add-ons that wouldn't beat charge, but wouldn't be useless without it.
Such as increased speed while charging the chainsaw. This means you can charge a bit sooner than before and still get the hit. Adding more bumping add-ons which should help if you make a mistake.
Is their any add-ons you'd consider bad or don't have an exact purpose? I knew charge add-ons where the best but I wanted to give you more options on how to play him with the other add-ons.
-
@Maperson said:
Honestly i think he needs buffs, i also main Bubba, but its just shame that iconic killer like him Is on this place, he shouldn't be in this spot, if you get really big map again good coordinted players its very very very hard to win.
I don't play with add-ons, but yeah most of it are useless, even devs have said he was rushed, i don't know what are they waiting for, we are waiting for his turn for so long..
I agree big map with coordinated team is extremely tough to win but only killer like nurse, spirit and billy can win those games I think.
Btw since your a Bubba main what do you think of the add-ons? This was meant to be a Bubba add-on rework discussion and no one has mentioned them once lol
-
@Lx_malice said:
I don't think the problem really lies within Bubba's add-ons. While yes his add-ons do need to be changed in order to match the other killers; Bubba himself just isn't a very strong killer and could use a full on power rework or a nice buff. What they could do I have no idea but I've definitely given it some thought. Maybe let him throw his chainsaw? Hell I don't know but he needs something. #BuffBubba
I'd take a buff but he doesn't need it. Currently he's doing extremely well for me at rank 1.
-
Can you suggest a buff to DS next please?
-
Pop is the best of your perk options.
If your a fan of Trapper, Hag or Myers I'd suggest Plague for Corrupt.
Generally fun then take Spirit.
Legion: Is fun honestly. Discordance is a good perk but not in the main 4 perk slots on anyone other than freddy for me.
-
Works both ways. Recently seen an increase in afk wraiths hiding in corners. Survivors are guaranteed to depip no matter what if the wraith remains cloaked.
-
Bubba is low A tier.
-
People who have ttv in their name (in my experiences) are usually not good players. They either tunnel or camp (they're usually not streaming at this time lol) or just play completely boosted.
-
I thought this was going to be a story similar to mine from a few weeks ago lol thought they gave you a 2k for being afk.
Dumb survivors got what they deserved.
-
As someone who uses this perk a lot I can say this change would make it broken.

The concept I have about "boosted player" is someone who asks someone else to help them rank up, is that what you mean?
Yea that's probably the correct term. Basically someone who ranks up easy because they are playing with friends who help them. I use it more broadly to include players who are in high ranks because the game rewards them, even if they aren't playing great.
Basically players rank up when they aren't ready.
-
I'd say red ranks are a mix of what you said and players who are generally boosted.

I've played nurse enough to get every perk on her twice, honestly the add-ons are fine; for such a (theoretically) strong killer, lots of meme add-ons is fine. Quite a few of her bugs are directly related to the multiple blink charges, which is why I think that reverting only that change would put nurse in the perfect place.
Her add-ons no longer let her omega blink (which was the real problem), she becomes far less tedious to play as, and can no longer be literally ran away from (you can run in a straight line and make nurse take half a minute just to get into a chase). Bad survivors get to go back to claiming she's OP, and people who actually know the game will understand that nurse actually takes lots of skill to play.
I like some meme add-ons. If I ever play nurse I run the 4.6m/s movement speed after a successful blink add-on. I find this add-on funny to use and face. The thing is she has too many that aren't even worth much. In particular she has 2 bad point add-ons (one is enough).

Maybe invite him to play with you, try and be nice. Otherwise you really can't do anything. If your struggling you probably shouldn't be playing such a mentally exhausting game.
Hopefully after your game he took a break and maybe did something to relieve stress. Then come back when he is feeling better.
