I think this about sums up my feelings on this whole thing. The meme also has a double meaning if you squint
Jokes aside, I'm intrigued to see how the changes play out in practice. It remains to be seen (no pun intended) if this will completely butcher her strength or if it will strike more of a balance.

The point of third seal was to hide the aura of the box
Third Seal doesn't affect power related auras. (Like pig boxes, and so on)
HOWEVER
Pinhead has an addon that does that! The iridescant Lament Configuration has your back. It hides the box aura until survivors are really close until a chain hunt starts
-
Swap undying for retribution instead
Swap third seal for thrill of the hunt
Now we're cooking with hex perks.
-
the 1 thing i don't like about trapper is iri-stone
purely bc every trapper i go against has it
it's not even super strong, i just don't like it
-
Billy and Freddy aren't super far off from being in acceptable states, maybe you could argue that Freddy's rework was a bad thing but that's a matter of subjectivity. Not to mention, the grass is always greener - when old freddy was a thing people demanded he be reworked and changed.
Twins on the other hand, a killer that was released unfinished and broken and is still to this day - unfinished and broken. They are horrible to play as and for some, horrible to play against.
-
I wouldn't call Billy the most unpopular/unpicked killer tbh
That crown goes to Twins

I think you are right. They could add a brown version perhaps. I ONLY use topknot and the sash. I think he's absolutely fine how he is, he's uber rare for me to face also.
I face a lot of Onis myself, and I adore going against him! He's one of the most balanced killers in the game
I think the top-knot is problematic purely because of the sheer difference having it vs not having it is (For a green addon especially!)
It doesn't make him unbeatable, but it does increase his lethality by a huge margin. Maybe that needs to be adjusted a bit.

That's my only gripe with him. Having to announce to the world that you are ready to snowball them. Its not like you you can wait a few minutes until the survivors forget. I'm just praying they leave topknot alone
Top-knot is def on the chopping block I think. Maybe they won't remove it outright though, just nerf the numbers
maybe 25% instead of 50% like it is now.
-
This thread just gave me an idea
So you know how killers have trap hex totems? Introducing:
Boon totem: Bone mine
If a killer tries to snuff this perk out, it explodes like a flashbang and stuns them for 3 seconds. Then it's permanently deactivated

I rarely run meta. Right now I'm running Camaraderie, Second Wind, Empathy, and Breakdown on Steve.
I think anyone saying they're forced to run certain perks need to calm down and reframe their experience. I play to have fun so my perks reflect that. I don't always have fun every match, but these perks are more fun than just having my ass covered every time.
I wish camaraderie would give teammates an indication that you have it when you get hooked
Like a little radio icon next to your name on the UI or something. It'd be so helpful for solo Qs who wanna use it.

This is not the sort of curse you want to put on his add-ons. When it comes to being out of touch and making bad decisions, that is where your faith should be high in BVHR.
Oh god what have I done
They're gonna remove speed limiter.
In all seriousness, I hope they give him one charge addon or something.
-
Hillbilly mains are probably excited
His addons are rock bottom, so how could they possibly make them worse?
-
Daily reminder Pyramid Head has a PURPLE addon
and all it does is make survivors bleed slightly more if they step in a trail.
whoever made that addon must've really ran out of ideas

hopefully is 2 vigils at a time lol. but yeah sad to see that part go. kinda would be a little strong if 4 vigils and haunted grounds lol/
Vigil's gonna be great paired with perks that make you broken
Namely Deliverance and For the People. Being broken only for 42 seconds might not sound super strong but the quicker you get healed, the quicker you can use FTP again :)

Oh I wasn't looking for advice, I'm okay running my off-brand Babysitter build, haha. But I like that line of thinking. I imagine it's much more tolerable than a stacked meta build, most definitely.
Ah fair enough
But yeah, sometimes I'll run full meta if I feel like I'm getting my teeth kicked in by people doing the same. It's a vicious cycle sometimes
I like to mix meta/non meta stuff though because it's fun.
Guilty pleasure of mine is running Agitation on every killer I play, even ones it doesn't make much sense on I just LOVE how the perk feels.
-
imo shape doesn't need reworking
he just needs QOL changes
something as simple as being able to 100% stalk survivors and decide when you want to tier up by pressing a button or survivor stalk progress resetting or something like that
-

and if it still stacks. then alot less.
I think they will remove the stacking part of this perk
They'll add a thing that says "Survivors can only be affected by one Vigil affect at a time"
Like leader/prove thyself.
-
30% of 40 seconds is 12. 40 - 12 = 28
28 second exhaustion? That's not bad. Not bad at all
-
Still potentially S, but survivors might have a good chance at developing more concrete plans and counters
I'm really excited! I actually don't mind facing spirit now (busted addons aside) but sometimes that feeling of having to just guess all the time gets grating.

Devs saw that VHS was getting traction and decided to actually do something for the game
I mean
This update has been worked on for quite a while considering McLean said this was the last update he's worked on and he left BHVR a decent chunk of time ago. Way before VHS gained traction
Not to burst your bubble but, yeah.
-
Here's my advice:
Mix meta and non meta perks together. That's what I do.
For example, let's say I wanna run a healing build with like bite the bullet, self care, botany - I'll run those 3 perks and I'll throw in some other 'meta' perk to help keep me in the game. Be it an exhaustion perk, DS and so on.
I don't think someone running an autodidact meme build but having DS or UB as their 4th perk is a 'meta' build. In the same vein that when playing killer, you can run meme builds and just put pop or ruin on just to have them.

Counter-points
Are you really expecting for Spirit to land 110% M1 hits at top MMR for Spirit? Survivors should not really be taking M1 vs 110% m1 assuming they're good.
Nurse can see survivors, Spirit is blind towards survivors during her ability. If anything, Spirit requires just as much tracking precision as Nurse does and this tracking is made harder by Iron will and Scratch marks.
Messing up phasewalk is 15 second cooldown. Messing up a blink is 3 cooldown(1 token is recovered during fatique). This is further reduced by nurse add-ons.
Nurse is the stronger killer.
Spirit is weaker killer, but she has lower skill-floor compare nurse, but Spirit could be 96.5% m/s killer and it wouldn't change too much for her at high-level as anything below 115% might as be super-easy to pallet loop assuming survivor is competent at the game.
I appreciate the response although my overall point was that Spirit is easier to play and win with than Nurse not that Spirit is necessarily stronger.
That being said:
A few things I wanna add:
Messing up a phasewalk isn't a 15 second cooldown. You could phase for only a few seconds and you'd only get a few seconds of cooldown; that's how her power functions. Most loops the spirit can phase and get a hit in within a few seconds, roughly. I doubt a lot of spirits drain all of their power UNLESS they are using it for mobility.
My point about the m1 part, wasn't that spirit goes for m1s a lot - it's that she has the ability to use her M1 whereas Nurse, can only really use her M1 if the survivors let her since a survivor running is faster than her.
-
Potentially an RPD change
Some rumours suggest the map may be getting variants similar to badham
considering how widely hated the map is by both sides, it wouldn't surprise me!

explain the differences then
- Nurse moves slower than survivors, she NEEDs to use her power to secure 99% of her hits. Which is hard against even medicore survivors nevermind good ones.
- Spirit moves at 110% which while slow, is not impossible to land basic M1 hits.
- Blinking with nurse requires a lot of precision and timing. Messing up with Nurse is extremely punishing
- Phasing with spirit only requires a general idea of where the survivor is, which is easily done with sound cues like grunts of pain or scratch marks. Additionally, using Spirits power in short bursts removes any recovery problem because you don't lose as much of your power if you use it like this meaning you can phase again very quickly. More with addons
- Messing up a blink is extremely easy
- Messing up a phase isn't impossible but you can just leave your power and reorient yourself like nothing happened
I could go on
-
Alright
Spirit is much easier to play than Nurse, her power is much more simpler. You phase at survivors during chase or you phase to quickly traverse the map.
Spirit is much easier to pick up and play because compared to Nurse, you don't need to learn as much to do well with her. To play nurse well, you need to invest a decent chunk of time and essentially learn survivor movement patterns and so on. Spirit on the other hand can easily capitalise on injured survivors and close the gap with healthy ones. Conclusion - playing Spirit well takes less time than playing Nurse well
And finally - Spirit has nowhere near the amount of frustrating bugs that Nurse does. Fake/False blinks, M1 lunges that don't work properly, bugged blinks, blinks that send you straight to the basement and so on and so forth. Dead Hard is also a big frustration for Nurse, not so much Spirit.
There, I hope that satisfies. :)
-
She's easier
She has less time investment needed to win
She has less bugs and frustration
There, gave you three good reasons

Here's an interresting question though.
Will it also trigger if you hit people already injured or in deep wound? As you aren't actually doing any damage then
I'd say yeah, since those trigger the 'hit' score event

Could be an interesting choice on plague if I don't have to worry about pallet stuns when corrupted
Oh how could I forget?
Legions Feral Frenzy will trigger it.
On every hit, because there's no cooldown.
-
Let's list out what the buff changes:
- Hillbilly and Cannibal hitting someone with his chainsaw will block pallets now
- Huntress and Trickster will block pallets upon a successful damage with their power
- Deathslinger is going to be a potentially weird one, because harpooning a survivor TECHINCALLY counts as a hit (it triggers protection hits for example), but it doesn't instantly damage you.
- Pig's dash will trigger it now
- Corrupt Purge will trigger it. Vile purge likely won't
- Demo's Shred will trigger it
- Oni's demon dash and demon strike will trigger it upon a successful hit
- PH's punishment of the damned will trigger it
- Blight's lethal rush will trigger it (it's hilarious how it's his perk and it took this long for it to actually work with his power)
- Finally - Nemesis tentacle strike will proc it. Not that you'd want it to because one of Nemesis's strengths is demolishing pallets
-
My assumption will be it will only be 'special attacks' when they trigger the 'hit' score event
In Trickster's case, that only happens when he fully lacerates and damages a survivor
-
I wanna make a random prediction:
One of Oni's ultra-rares will be changed to make it so when he enters blood fury, there is no global sound cue.
-
While I understand the comparison, I don't think they are comparable
Iron maiden helps two particular killers in their weakest area (Needing to reload) and helps keep them in the game. Keep in mind they give up a perk slot for purely this. It's a 'feel good' thing. Their power is already compensated by two other weaknesses already (110% movement speed + Lullaby)
Stridor on the other hand, completely negated one of the only perks that helped against Spirit AND it also made tracking injured survivors extremely easy to the point it was effortless.
To sum up my pov - A trickster or huntress using Iron maiden is giving up a perk slot for a faster reload whereas a Stridor Spirit was using a perk to enhance areas they were already strong in to begin with.
I don't think i've ever lost a match against Trickster/Huntress and went "damn, iron maiden had such an impact" but I have 100% been against Stridor spirits and felt completely helpless
-
Retribution was already amazing, but now it's even better. I think it now makes you oblivious while cleansing any totem rather than after cleansing a dull right? That's pretty good. 15 seconds of wall hacks whenever a hex gets cleansed is so damn strong. Kinda scared of this perk
Third seal and Blood Favour seem better. Not great in Third Seal's case because let's face it - Blindness isn't that strong but still. Maybe it'll see some use.
FTP, Vigil and Babysitter buffs seems handy. I love FTP and always wished it had a lower timer
-
I think you PM a moderator or something like that?
@MandyTalk is that how it works?

I asked a hacker that basically gave me a confirmation on that, first if you family share you lose the secondary account for 7 days, your main account nothing happens on the first violation.
Then you can come back and get banned again for hacking then you lose family share, then you can do the same in the main account.
Also there are people selling steam accounts for 5 dollars with dbd on it.
So 5 bucks + hacks that you may have then rinse and repeat until the end of times.
Easy anti cheat is from what I read, one of the worst anti cheats in the whole anti cheat industry.
Some say that it is very easy to also evade VAC bans so I wouldn't be surprised.
Damn that's pretty dumb ngl
I hope BHVR looks into better anti-cheating measures or something because I have a worry it's only gonna get worse. I'm hopeful it won't, but still.
-
@OldHunterLight said:
Not that it matters because hackers only get banned for like 3 days at most, plus they can always buy the game for like 5 bucks and continue hacking, plus family sharing.
So it doesn't really matter for them.
I obviously can't get confirmation on this but I'm like 60/70% sure family share accs get auto banned if they are sharing a game when the owner is game banned
Or at the very least BHVR/Steam has the tools to do that if it's the case.
-
All you can really do is report them in game and then submit a follow up ticket via support
Get proof of some kind like a recording or hell, even a scoreboard screenshot since some of them are dumb enough to bring in items with hacked addons. I saw a flashlight with gel dressings once
People think SBMM is why people are seeing more cheaters and it's probably true since cheaters most likely had to put up with the old rank system. Now their MMR gets instantly inflated since they basically escape/kill everyone every game

The only issue with the no longer breaking totems idea is NOED would no long be able to be prevented and perks like play thing being able to go off up to 11 times instead of just at max 5.
yeah good point
I wonder how it's gonna work
-
If there's no available dull totem then the perk doesn't activate
it's the same if survivors go around cleansing dulls.
Slightly off-topic but with the addition of boom totems I have a sneaking suspicious that survivors might not actually 'destroy' totems anymore, but rather 'unlight' them to cleanse them which means boon totems can then be used. That's my theory on how it'll work
IDK random speculation
-
What'd you play?
Killer or Survivor (or both)

When facing Tombstone Myers my main objective in game becomes not to be moried. Just that. There isn't any circunstance that can force me to be more than 10 metters distant from a locker no matter what xD.
Usually these Myers get so pissed off that when u go in a locker they start hitting it with m1 repeteadly lmao.
Yeah I mean
I know that's the 'counter' to it but I feel so bad for doing it. Like I don't wanna get mori'd

So your chaining loops together. If you were w key you would skip the building and just get as far away as possible regardless of what tile you end up at.
If I have no other options, I'll just run to a corner or jump in a locker to make as much delay as possible
Those extra few seconds might make a difference, at the very least

@Gamedozer7 said:

My question is when you are running are you run tell you have to pick a tile regardless of straight or are you run to a strong tile to chain loops together because on takes skill and the other doesn't.
I'll make a hypothetical example
Let's say we're in the middle of the map on coal tower, let's assume for the sake of argument it's a basic m1 killer
He hits me and instead of running to the jungle gym that's next to me I instead decide to use my speedboost to run all the way to the main building (which is the coal tower itself) and from there, I proceed to use the pallets around it and so on.
-
I don't see why people should be shamed for...
Running away from the killer? I hate this narrative that "shift + w" is completely brainless when in actuality, it's not. If I am hit by the killer and I know using the speed boost that I can make it to a tile that is further away then I'm going to do it. Why would I give the killer the advantage by running to a tile that is already close by while injured?
I understand why people feel it's frustrating; really I do. It takes so long to catch up to someone running in a straight line after you hit them, that's why killers like Wraith and Blight are so popular and strong because their power negates this
but on the other hand Nurse and Spirit almost completely ignore the things that this thread says defines a survivors "skill". So... ???
-
In game report and then https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
-
100% cheating
When you get DS'd, it comes up in the top right of your screen with a little thing that says "Decisive Strike"
Also, this didn't happen next to a locker so no possibility for it to be a silent head-on (Which can happen if someone in a locker hops out with Q&Q)
Also if they had no perks, that should be an immediate red flag when combined with this
-
Would rather face Spirit than Pig
-
I like her concept and design, she pulls off the spooky vengeful ghost archetype really well
Her voice while it has been memed to hell and back, I really like it. It's a shame there's not more anger to it like when she mori's and she does the angry scream - that is her best voiceline if you ask me!
She also, by proxy, brought us Oni - one of DBD's best original killers. Thanks Rin!
