Stridor vs. Iron Maiden

Just wanted to open this up for discussion. Iron Maiden, for the most part, is essentially what Stridor once was for Spirit but for Huntress and Trickster. Apart from affecting regular locker searches, it also speeds up their reload speeds by up to 50%. This is pretty considerable, on killers that already have the benefit of a ranged special attack.

Why is this perk allowed to (unfairly in my opinion) disproportionately buff two killer powers stronger than all others? This isn't just 'Iron Maiden is better on Huntress'. It literally is a permanent boost to their base kits during the trial simply by equipping a perk.

Especially in conjunction with BBQ & Chili on Huntress, this perk already makes for little counter play to being revealed to the killer. Your choice is to be close (not always an option), run Distortion (lol), show your aura 40m+ away, or to hide in a locker but then scream and be exposed for 30 seconds anyways?

Side note but related, shouldn't Iron Maiden have a cooldown as well? Pretty sure we all get annoying by survivors that spam lockers while this perk in play; and I think all other killer effects that give exposed have a cooldown? Discluding hex perks.

  • We need more perks like Iron Maiden on reload killers and Franklin's on Pinhead. Monitor and Abuse on Myers. Blah blah blah, unique perks that synergize with their base kit.

  • Iron Maiden doesn’t impact the game, it’s just a feel good perk to have on Huntress for me. It’s the same reason people run Shadowborn on Nurse.

  • Stridor on Spirit removed most, if not all, forms of counterplay a survivor had whilst injured.

Iron Maiden takes away no counterplay had to their powers.

Hide behind a generator. The most common form of BBQ counterplay. Or use your eyes and ears and be aware if you're about to be cross-mapped.

No. The effect is weak enough as-is. It has a niche use on two killers- you could maybe make an argument for Doctor as well, which would actually be a lot better than this one for Huntress/Trickster- out of the entire roster. This niche use doesn't take away any of the counterplay to their powers. There is no need for a nerf.

It really feels like you're grapsing for things to complain about here.

  • Odd comparison.

  • So perks aren't allowed to synergize with powers?

They can to a degree, but wasn't that the reason Tinkerer was changed? STBFL technically synergizes with powers (i.e. keep the stacks by hitting the obsession with a special attack).

  • Now I've seen everything.

Tinkerer was changed because it was too difficult to balance all addons around it.

  • While I understand the comparison, I don't think they are comparable

Iron maiden helps two particular killers in their weakest area (Needing to reload) and helps keep them in the game. Keep in mind they give up a perk slot for purely this. It's a 'feel good' thing. Their power is already compensated by two other weaknesses already (110% movement speed + Lullaby)

Stridor on the other hand, completely negated one of the only perks that helped against Spirit AND it also made tracking injured survivors extremely easy to the point it was effortless.

To sum up my pov - A trickster or huntress using Iron maiden is giving up a perk slot for a faster reload whereas a Stridor Spirit was using a perk to enhance areas they were already strong in to begin with.

I don't think i've ever lost a match against Trickster/Huntress and went "damn, iron maiden had such an impact" but I have 100% been against Stridor spirits and felt completely helpless

  • I rarely, if ever, run Iron Maiden. ...but I actually think its in a really good place.

Not every perk is going to have value on every killer, and some killers will always bring more value to a perk than the rest of the cast.

Even so, Iron Maiden is a great info perk against Flashbang, Red Herring & Inner Strength. It has decent synergy with BBQ & Chili. It makes survivors think carefully about using Head On. And it punishes survivors who use lockers so much they might as well start paying rent.

To be honest, the only issue I have with Iron Maiden is that survivors don't have enough perks that integrate lockers into their gameplay.
