Spirit's perks are really fun and they all have a good theme to them. They all center around revenge in some way. Rancor needs no explanation, Spirit Fury is all about getting stunned and Haunted Grounds is when your stuff is getting destroyed
Legion's perks all also have a cool theme to them, it's basically all about messing up people who try to act smart (Bodyblocking, doubling up on gens or hiding in lockers)

'Jake Park' is censored as are various other character names, map names and so on
Dowsey's not getting special treatment

And both STBFL and LP are on licensed killers, which is not the greatest for access on another licensed killer. That's just my gripe, though, given the state of Myers...

I feel like half the problem isn't landing the chains, it's that there's a lot of situations where you land the chains... and then what? Too often it feels like you've only slightly shortened a chase due to not being enough of a delay around most loops, and other loops being nearby.
Personally I try to use my chains either at the pallet (to either force a drop or get a hit before) or to potentially force a slow vault at a window
It also does help with people holding W if you can manage to not break your own chains when you're approaching them

Eh...he has some things Freddy doesn't have - the box when it works is pretty dope.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2650919#Comment_2650919
This is sort of the problem. He feels like he relies on a single perk and a gimmicky playstyle to have a chance in higher level matches.
I don't know if I agree you know, he def needs perks in order to be able to win - I think that's a given. I haven't been running Ruin though, which is weird because you'd think that would be the obvious pick.
Lethal pursuer in particular isn't a dealbreaker but once you start using it - you realise just how important getting a good start/knowing where the box might be is key. His chain hunt is super oppressive and I feel like it's able to carry you if you can get it going
That + if you get really good with landing possessed chains, you stand a really good chance at winning - Personally I run STBFL as my staple perk because it synergizes extremely well with his power and helps deal with pesky medkits/COH gamers
-

Heck I'd just like to see her ambush actually function as anti-loop..as intended..before even getting to pallet break stuff. Her ambush has been garbage since release.
It's more effective to fake it than it is to actually use it which is hilarious in its own right
-
Lethal Pursuer on Pinhead is like a drug
Otz was right, it's so good to have a general idea where the box is at all times
-
Would help with the current META of pre-dropping and w-holding
You know, it begs the question
How strong would blight be if his Lethal rush didn't break pallets like PTB Blight?
-
Yeah, BM and teabagging typically has nothing to do with what you're running
It's either they don't like what killer you picked, they don't like your playstyle or they're just one of those people who finds it fun to try and agitate others for whatever reason. I see some players/streamers use the reasoning of "i do it so the killer keeps chasing me" but I think that's kind of a lame excuse
On the same page, I try to not let it get to me as much these days. They win when you let them get to you.
-
imo Deathbound won't actually help, most people who use COH will just heal themselves and they can do it without a medkit. I do like the idea of using Forced Penance though.
Fearmonger/Mindbreaker might actually help a bit - It inflicts blindness which hides the boon totems aura (Meaning they'll not see it at all times). You could also use third seal/blindness addons to hinder their ability to track where the boon is. Not fool proof but it's an idea
Save The Best For Last is actually a good perk that helps against COH for a reason you might not realise - it helps you chew through health states quicker, so survivors being healthy isn't as big of a deal. Again, not fool proof but it does wonders
If all else fails, you could just slap on thrill of the hunt by itself to slow it down. It'll make snuffing totems mean a bit more since it'll take longer to re-boon them.
-
Depends on the map
I think Pyramid Head's Forge Born outfit is probably the one with the highest temperature. He's covered in lava for crying out loud!
-
I give the hatch to the last survivor if I won the match pretty decisively - A show of good sportsmanship.
Otherwise, I like to give it to someone who played really well if I can. I like to mess with survivors sometimes though, like closing hatch and making them touch an exit gate so No Way Out triggers
They usually have enough time to make it out, but it's funny seeing their reactions
-
Don't fall for the meme
It's a forced and imo not funny meme that people use to claim pig players are wholesome and not toxic
The opposite is true.
-
I find that perks that stall the survivors seem to be quite effective
Deadlock is probably one of the best perks we've got in a very long time for prolonging the game.
No Way Out is also an incredible perk.

I never said you said those things were fine. But you said killer feels fine, and it does not. Now try to keep winning. And consistently face these sort of teams. It's not fun. Nor does it make killer feel fine
To play devil's advocate for a second
Not every match at 'high mmr' (idk how else to put it, forgive me) is gonna be a 4 man swf with all bnps, meta perks, map offerings and so on
Typically it's a mix of some of these things, I would assume. Like maybe you'll have one guy bring a BNP and some other brings a coldwind offering and so on and so forth.
I don't know if it's completely fair to judge killer as a whole by these kinds of matches when the odds are stacked against the killer from the start.

Buff? I already suffer enough with him making a slugfest out of everybody with his power. I swear oni is one of the killers that I literally don't know how to loop cause every single one manages to hit that staff every single time in me. Even in tight corners
The problem isn't his power
it's the fact that good survivors make getting your power extremely hard, because they don't loop - they pre-drop pallets and play super safe.
For some anecdotal evidence, I once played a match on 'The Game' against an Oni and everyone just pre-dropped every pallet and he got his power eventually... When all 5 gens were done.
-
One of the big strats for Plague players is to make hook rescuing nigh impossible
Think about it, if everyone is infected and refuses to cleanse - then every hook save will be unsafe and plague players can really capitalise on this.
Sure you might be able to crank out some gens, but if there's a 3 gen involved or if the person is 2nd stage then you're in trouble once it's a 3v1 with everyone permanently injured
-
Then again on the other page
I really enjoy going against Oni because I feel like he's one of the most balanced killers out there
I don't know if I'd want to see him changed from his current state. I think the Killer role's overall gameplay could do with a touch-up but nothing specific about Oni comes to mind.
-
I feel like they're messing with MMR/SBMM behind the scenes
Faced a killer with like 100 hours today, despite the fact I wasn't on a losing streak or anything like that so either nobody was playing killer at my level or something's seriously wrong with it. I know it lowers the threshhold due to que times but it wasn't a long wait either.
This system is such a mess
-
I don't necessarily agree he needs a buff but you are right in that he suffers greatly from pre-dropping pallets and playing mega safe
But that's half the cast at this point, Oni's weak early game is what balances out his really oppressive power so it kinda evens out? What do you think they could do to buff him?
Maybe they could make it so his passive charging is quite a bit faster or slightly increase the amount of blood you get from your M1s
Also yeah I sort of agree with you about Blight, in the sense that Blight's power is very oppressive but also has minimal cooldowns. With alchemist ring it has no cooldown, only fatigue

Hatch: The version where it spawns before the endgame so also the key is actually a way to escape.
Toolboxes: Yes, completely reverting all their nerfs. Sabotage is also basically useless now. It needs buffed.
Decisive Strike: All the way back so the obsession is actually meaningful, and decisive strike was actually decisive. It is not a decisive strike now no matter how much the devs want to claim it is. You shouldn't lose it for playing the game either.
Yes, great skill checks should give a little progress bonus for hitting a hard skillcheck. It basically gives no reward now which was an unhealthy nerf.
Endgame can be deleted. It just favors killers too much. What do you do when a Huntress stands on a hill and can see both exit gates? That's a lose lose situation for survivor. It's unhealthy when you basically have to walk up to the killer and asked to be killed.
Why are you claiming current Sabo is bad? You were around for OLD sabo, so you know how garbage it was, so why say it's somehow worse now?
New Sabo is actually possible to pull off without having a degree in theoretical physics and having all hooks 99%'d
Also nerfing Toolboxes was one of the healthiest things BHVR has done, they are still immensely strong but you can't use them all game round (Unless, of course you use the new built to last which just got BUFFED)

I think that Bubba and co do quite well in Brut because people can't heal as much vs them. I have no idea why killers actually lose BP when survivors heal.
Actually killers don't lose BP when survivors heal, it's just one of their emblems loses some points
You actually slowly gain deviousness BP from survivors who stay injured, that's why when they heal - you get a score event in the top right that says 'bleeding'
-
From my POV the killers who get the least amount of points overall are typically ones that suffer in the deviousness category, those would be:
- Oni - blood orbs and dashing barely give you that much and using your power only gives you like 250. Hitting people WITH your power only gives you brutality points I'm pretty sure
- Legion - Feral Frenzy's deviousness output is pathetic - you get a small amount for using frenzy and 250 for inflicting deep wound on someone. To put this into perspective: In order to get 8k deviousness with legion on just feral frenzy hits you would need to hit survivors THIRTY TWO TIMES. Obviously you get bonus in deviousness for other things like hatch closing and nobody escaping but yeah
- Myers - You get points for stalking and tiering up. That's it. No points for downs using T3 or grabs in T1 or anything like that. Outdated as heck
- Pig - Assuming you set all 4 traps, that's 2000 BP in deviousness now the rest relies on you either doing other things or landing a bunch of ambush hits which can be quite tricky
-
When I'm playing with my James Sunderland legendary, I always run 'Object of Obsession' on him
Thematically it's meant to represent how in Silent Hill 2, the monsters are linked to James in some way.
I also like to run Rancor on the killers who are privy to singling people out or have a particular hatred - Freddy, Myers, Pinhead, etc
-
I used to think 'The Game' was a horrible map for survivor back when I started playing (Around the time plague came out)
-
Stretched res
for no other reasons other than seeing people complain about it (which would be hilarious) but also to end the whole debate once and for all. a proverbial nail in the coffin

House of Pain is definitely the biggest issue of the map. Badham has a (slightly) better variation of it due to the stairs being opaque but even that is hell to play on. Haddonfield's HOP is so much worse to deal with.
The badham variation also has breakable walls
I really hope if they rework haddonfield they aren't lazy and just add breakable walls everywhere, I'll be so upset.
-
I have no strong feelings one way or the other!
-
Anyone else of the opinion that the myers house, while god-awful, isn't the worst thing about haddonfield? At least there's a bit of risk involved with running it because the basement always spawns there so if you mess up you're put in a really tight spot. (Unless RNGesus puts the god window at the side of the stairs)
For me It's those blasted fences, the house of pain and the generators all being angry neighbours who hate each other so much that they refuse to be anywhere near each other

5 minute matches definitely sounds too short, and that sounds like a match where either the Survivors gen rushed the hell out of the killer with very little opportunity for the killer to snowball pressure / momentum, or a match with a godly spirit / nurse or a killer with instantdown momentum pressure like Oni / Myers / Leatherface / Hillbilly that basically took the survivors completely by surprise and couldn't react quickly enough to what was going on.
Neither of those matches are fun for the side that's losing, and arguably it isn't all that fun for the side winning either because they overwhelm their opponent(s) far too quickly.
I'm not going to say that I've ever done the research where I've timed my own matches, but I will say most discussions I've been a part of regarding the length of an individual match usually say that on average matches last from 10-15 minutes. So I was surprised to see intervals lower than that as the listed poll options (is anybody really going to vote under 3 minutes? Why is that there??)
And in the grand scheme of multiplayer gaming, 10 minute matches is really on the shorter end of match length / duration. When many games can easily go for 20, 30, or 40 minutes for a single match. But again, I'm not being scientific about this, I'm just kind of guesstimating off games I've played recently like Hunt: Showdown, Deep Rock Galactic, League, etc. 8 minutes is like the tournament timer for Smash Ultimate isn't it? In 1 v 1s you're probably talking about 5 minutes give or take for two players to go against each other with 3 stocks each, but of course that's shorter because it's literally only 2 people dueling it out.
I would say once you get into the 5 minute range of matches you're talking about some truly faster paced gameplay and I just don't think that generally represents most of DBD (unless you're always going 100% hardcore sweaty- which I personally don't find fun but to each their own). You've got perks like Corrupt Intervention which last 2 minutes, or Deadlock which blocks the generator with the most progress for 30 seconds (activating 4 times that's another 2 minutes), and then aside from other slowdowns you've got the EGC- and if you got stomped survivors routinely feel compelled to gloat at the exit gate for the entire 3 minute EGC timer and hold killer hostage until they finally get their time in the sun or the timer runs out (not a rare occurrence).
So I'm just thinking about all these different things in DBD that aren't uncommon which put game length into perspective, and I definitely don't think it's adding up to 5-6 minute matches, and barely the 7-8 option. The way I see it 10 minutes is really the time it takes for all the different DBD shenanigans to happen and I think that's fine.
Things only really get frustrating when the match is prolonged without a hope of victory from the other side. IE 2 survivors crouching around for 5 entire minutes just on their own hiding around the map, or a killer who just pushes people off the final generators but can never commit to a chase to create pressure. (Obviously there's not much else they can do besides flat out give up and stand still, but that doesn't change the fact these situations aren't fun and only prolong the inevitable).
Yeah the lower than 3 minutes thing was a typo, that was my B but I can't change it unfortunately :(

I’m worried this perk would reveal if it’s a stealth based killer and make them significantly weaker. Other than that, I wouldn’t mind it.
Myers and Wraith are undetectable from the start, so it wouldn't affect them
Pig has jigsaw boxes, so you can find out it's a pig early anyway
Ghostface has his power available when he spawns in so, he can just tap it and not get seen instantly I think.
Unless you mean there being no aura letting ppl know it's a stealth killer but, a lot of perks do that!
-
That would be fine honestly
Object basically does a similar thing if the killer has Lethal Pursuer so we can kinda already know the impact it could have. It'd be good for new players though, 100%!

You don't need any 3rd party software to do flicks, hug tech, or scoot and slides (which have specifically been called out by McClean before he left the company as intended). The only thing that REQUIRES a 3rd party program to perform on blight is lag flicks.

Hi there, I've figured out why this occurs
It's one of her addons - I believe it is:
- Jigsaw's Annotated Plan
It must be bugged somehow
-
Boon: Bone Mine
Soft chimes ring out within a 24M radius
Whenever the killer attempts to snuff this boon out, it explodes and stuns/blinds them for 4 seconds. This perk is permanently deactivated after it triggers successfully

While 'The Nemesis' isn't a bad name, I can't help but feel 'The Biohazard' would've been better

I can make one for you rq:
Killer powers (Soft counter):
- Hag traps screams
- Doctor's shocks screams
- Clown's bottle screams
- Stepping on a bear trap (scream only, your aura is still shown after a few seconds)
- Freddy's snare screams
- The scream caused by Pinhead's box when he picks it up
And perks/addons:
- Nurse's 'Anxious Gasp' addon
- Oni's 'Family Crest' addon
- Plague's 'Incensed Ointment' addon
- Infectious Fright
- Dragon's Grip (Scream only)
- Eruption (The scream only)
- Iron Maiden (scream only)
- Deathbound (scream only)
- Scourge Hook: Pain resonance (scream only)
- Spies from the Shadows

It's the standard 'Mary-Sue' problem.
When you create media not because you think it's a good story (Candyman is a good example of media that is representative but organic) but because you are trying to be 'representative' or to create a character for a specific part of your audience to project onto, it creates problems. People want the character to be perfect - and everyone has a different idea of what 'perfect' means.
The character must be perfectly moral and good, depending on the subjective morality of the individual. They must have the 'right' beliefs. They must have had the 'right' experiences. Any deviations or flaws will be taken personally, and a flawless character is unbelievable and uninteresting.
You can get away with this with a silent protagonist surrounded by a rich world (Gordon Freeman) but it's amazingly difficult to do.
There are plenty of interesting narratives that could be told from a 'diverse' standpoint - Candyman, Us, Devotion, Higurashi - but people are so polarized in their views right now that it's a colossal risk.
I think the CIA agent storyline would be fascinating, but you correctly point out that people would take their immoral actions personally - which is understandable. If they are projecting themselves onto the character, then the immoral actions are part of that and turn into an indictment of whatever beliefs this projection entails.
Well to be fair I don't actually know how people would take it, I'm honestly curious about it because (To me at least) It would've shown that BHVR's not looking to create the 'Mary-Sue' esque stuff that you mentioned in your post
Take Yun-Jin, she's the 'K-POP' survivor right? Made to appeal to that audience, yet she's a flawed and interesting character. That's what i like to see!
It's a bit hard for me to talk about the projecting subject though because, I don't project myself onto any character in this game or most games really. I play characters I think look cool/have cool backstories or are from games I already like. It's not the same for everyone ofc!

yes but let devs do what they want on their game and dont impose your ideas . if they want to add it they will do , let them some more time !
I don't think it's imposing to go "Hey can you add something like this in your game?"
It'd be imposing if people went around demanding it and insulting BHVR if they didn't, which maybe some people do but I've not seen it here on the forums when it comes to this topic.
Besides, there's plenty of other things to be mad at BHVR at.
