One thing that’s not mentioned in those videos FYI is MMR is on a bell curve and 1600 is probably around the 6% or so point based on some rough estimates we did a while back. (Basically the devs mentioned 1% were over the old higher soft cap, which implied a mean of 1000 and standard deviation of about 400, and when you use hose parameters it comes out to about 6% percentile for the 1600+ plus crowd.) Some people seem to think the number is much higher based on bad intuition about the math (e.g. “the numbers range to 3000 so half the people are over half that”).
Also some people seem to incorrectly think your MMR goes up or down a flat amount per match so the more you play the more it goes up if you win most of the time. But in reality how much it goes up or down depends on the relative MMR of your opponents, so if you win against a lower rated opponent it goes up less than if you beat a higher rated one and vice versa for losing. So even if you have, say, a 70% kill rate, if you are already mainly playing against lower rated opponents because you are in the higher part of the curve then your MMR will only go up a little per win and go down a lot per loss, keeping your rating relatively stable. It take a lot of time and a lot of wins against really good players to get to the ratings the main streamers have.
Interesting to know, I didn't realise it was like this.

@Archol123 said:
They already tweaked it because queues were taking to long and people would only face the same 3-5 killers all the time, so they lowered the soft cap for mmr and making mmr even more worthless by that, but there is no other way around it because people would not want to sit in queue for 20-30 min either.
As for the pairing with way stronger people apparently once you have a killer that has reached the softcap all other killers mmr gets raised to almost that. If you want to have more information about mmr watch this video Scott made about it:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GHEkN-oDLrk
Or this video that was basically Scotts source for the information in his video (it is also linked in the video description):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xI9jiL0FL0c&t=0s
They both partially include the same information as Scott is referring to the video below... Hope that answers your questions.
Thanks for this, very useful and makes a lot of sense!
Would be helpful to see our MMR's just to be reassured they're where they should be or are at least going up/down when we believe they should.

I don't agree with all of the video, but was just pointing out a hidden op build if played right.
I like Coconut as he is a huntress main, his sniper montages is just god like, im not a surv main but just thought someone good might pick up this odd build.

This is why i watch his vids.
No I get it, that's completely fair. I will definitely watch more of his videos. Just wanted to share my opinion on the Bill video.

On survivor, yes there are, like boon totems,WOO on Kate+boil over and other perks that will make me create cool combos. On killer there are some perks I want, but besides survivor,on killers I already have good perks..
@Barbarossa2020 said:
Boon is for sale in shrine at the moment.
And boil over just gets you slugged. Windows is a perk that is semi useful until you learn maps.
Killers have more interesting powers which is why i play them.
I've been playing DBD for 5 years and still use Windows. It makes no difference if you know the maps or not.
Windows allows you to see if pallets have been dropped so you don't find yourself in a situation where you expect to extend your chase only to be caught out by a lack of pallets in dead zones. It also let's you know when someone is being chased and the direction they're heading as you can see the pallets being dropped.
Also, CoH is a great perk. Yes it's in the Shrine at the moment, but it will cost you more shards if you want it at Tier 3.
I agree Survivors are just skins, but this is only a valid argument once you have all the perks.
EDIT: I forgot to mention Kate also has Dance with Me (Hide scratch marks when fast vaulting or leaving a locker for 3 seconds) which can be really useful and fun to play with, especially with Quick & Quiet and Lithe.
-
I think you answered your own question. You have a lot of killers/killer perks, so why not get a new survivor.
I'd recommend Kate for Windows of Opportunity. It's fantastic perk for avoiding deadzones and would synergies well with Lightweight and Quick & Quiet.
Edit: Equally, if you already have a lot of killers you may want to continue buying them until you have them all. That way you can focus on survivors once you're done.
To be honest the only person who can make this decision is you. If you want better help, we need to understand your playstyle for survivor and killer, and which characters you don't have.
Are there any perks you don't have that you've had your eye on?

Will take a long time to master but its such a under rated build, fi you can make a 7k+ hour Huntress struggle with this you'll make anyone struggle.
First time I've seen this streamer but have to admit I don't like the way he's in such disbelief a survivor outplayed him. Accusing Bill of cheating when he was literally only using Lightweight to escape chases up until Kate was slugged and Low Profile kicked in. People need to understand there is ALWAYS someone better at you at EVERYTHING, and that's okay.
Also at 19:27 the streamer claims he managed to lose Spirit because of the flashbang when in reality he dropped the flashbang, was chased for 40 seconds and then led Spirit to another survivor working on a Gen. To be fair this was unintentional but don't then claim you lost the killer because of your skill lol.
Other than those gripes the guy seems like a chill and cool dude. I also agree Lightweight is an incredible perk. I use it all the time with Lithe, Windows and Quick & Quiet.
Edit: He also facecamped the Bill to death on first Hook. Not cool man
-
All the best to him on his new endeavours. Hopefully his replacement will bring some fresh and exciting ideas to the team.

Personally I don't think these challenged are difficult, but if you're struggling just equip Windows and use The Game offering.
Other than that it's just a case of mindgaming the killer or being sneaky and waiting by a pallet when you're not in a chase and taking them by surprise.

Clubbing is hitting you and letting you bleed out.
Hook whacking is just poor sportsmanship. ;)
Been playing DBD for 5 years and never heard of the term 'clubbing' before... did you make it up?
-
I reckon CoDismylife could still get a 99% killer win rate on this.
-
Don't mean to brag but I didn't find this challenge difficult and did it on my first attempt.
I used Windows and Head On and followed the killer trying to get his attention. I did 3 pallet stuns and 2 head ons in the game but only got Void Energy twice. This was after the killer got another survivor down and hooked them.
Personally I love challenges like this.

I just want real individual Killer MMR.
I don't want to get stomped 30 games in a row before I can actually play the game
Agreed! Here here
-
I need this bad for killer. I was a killer main for 3 years and then stopped entirely for 2 years. Have recently started playing killer again the last few months and am constantly going againt skilled survivors. Sometimes I do well, but most of the time I get annihilated unless I play scummy and tunnel which I hate doing.
I thought my mmr would have dropped by now but it doesn't feel any different. I know you can base prestige levels on skill, but almost every lobby I'm faced with survivors who are over P50, and have encountered a few P100s.
-
I love Kindred but haven't used or needed it in a while. Not sure if it's my mmr or simply luck but I've been getting paired with decent players who seem coordinated and actually go for saves.
That being said, I'm a huge advocate for making this basekit because it will bridge the gap between SoloQ + SWF.
I should also mentio I run Bond 80% of the time so I can keep an eye on my team. If I didn't have Bond I probably would be using Kindred in it's place.
-
@SkylarFaithe said:
That would be really cool especially if you have awesome teammates whether they're randos or friends in a simpler way because lets be honest not everybody accepts random friend requests whether you've recently played together or not.
True! I don't accept friend requests from people I don't know in person, unless we've spoken on forums or other social media previously to arrange playing together.

Uh.. just wanted to point out that the bleed out timer is shorter than the lowest DC timer. You also forgo any earned BP if you DC. So isn’t it better to just wait it out, as scummy as it is? 🤔
To be fair, I don't DC everytime it happens. I wait it out more often than I DC but my point is when I do DC it's usually because of this or similar toxic behaviour.
Sometimes I'd rather DC than give the killer the satisfaction, and other times I walk away and get satisfaction from knowing the killer thinks he's taunting a player when really he's just playing by himself.

How does this stats page work? Do you enter the match results or does it have access to the data? I assume this is for PC only and not console.

If I see one or more good players in one match, I just add them in my friend list and invite them shortly after. But remaining in the same group right after a match isn't a bad idea.
Yeah that's not a bad shout, would just be nice if there was a simpler way.
-
I know I have the unpopular here, but from my own experience I am so much better with Pig than Billy since his nerf.
Stealth goes a long way for me, and combine that with Pig's traps she's pretty strong when used correctly. She was the first killer I ever played and mained tbf, so I'm a little biased.
Also using Billy's chainsaw on console is a drag.
Sorry not Sorry 🥸

trust me not every child is toxic, and not every toxic player is a child. plenty of grown up adults can be extremely toxic
Didn't mean to offend anyone, I didn't mean children in the literal sense, I meant toxic players act like children, i.e have a tantrum when they don't get their way.

Turns out he was mad, because after completing one of the only two gens done, I unhooked him (in the dredge darkness none the less) and then went and picked up their Rebecca they left slugged for a really long time. He said I was “only there to make saves,” even though I was actually doing a gen challenge.
There are some children on this game as proven in your video. Unfortunately as you probably already know, this is just part of the game we have to accept. Every now and then we will have to deal with toxic players whether it's a survivor or a killer.

Cross -progress w/ purchases on new account would get sales, instead of no cross-progress and starting over with nothing. Most won’t start over unless necessary and I was discouraged for over a year. They could entice purchases on other plats if players didn’t have to start over and just needed to buy characters again just like the have to buy another copy of dbd
Agreed! I'd buy it on switch in a heartbeat if this was a thing. Only reason I haven't got it is because I don't want to start over when I've been playing for 5 years.
-
My suggestion would be for the map to be shown before the game starts (at random) and you all have an option to skip, but the map will only skip if all 5 players agree.
Guaranteed it wouldn't be that often, but on the odd occasion a map might come up no one likes.
Other than that I think they should keep it the way it is and remove map offerings.
-
I rarely rarely DC unless the killer is being extremely toxic and I'm fed up of playing along. Most of the time it's when he slugs the team and refuses to hook us, or will pick us up, let us go and get us down again.
I wish in these circumstances you could DC without punishment but there's no way for the game to tell, so I'm happy waiting 5 minutes and will go grab a drink or look through my phone until I can rejoin.
-
I don't really main any survivor as I mix it up regularly (I have all survivors with every perk) but Feng Min was the first survivor I got to P3 when I started playing 5 years ago, and is also my highest prestiged character.
It wasn't anything to do with her appearance or cosmetics that made me start with her, I'm pretty sure it was because of her perks. Lithe for the quick get away, Technician because I was awful at hitting skill checks and Alert always let me know where the killer was.
Once I started using her I wanted to get the trophies and needed to P3 a survivor and she had the most progress so made sense to keep playing as her.
I tend to play her now because she has decent cosmetics and is my highest prestige character, but I wouldn't say she's my favourite.

-
Can't wait for Black Knight to make an appearance. Tis' but a scratch!

I don't use DH anymore since the nerf, but used it everygame before that.
I used DS when it was first released and I was new to the game but quickly dropped it as I got better at chases.

Dredge darkness is one of the worst things to go against in the game? Really? In a game with starstruck agi nurse, iri head camping huntress, alch ring blight? The thing that makes it dark for a bit maybe three times a match is a problem?
Dredge doesn't even rate. Windows counters it almost entirely.
I would much rather go against all of those, because at least I can see where I'm going.
Walking around in darkness just isn't fun. Even with windows I can't see a thing other than the auras of windows and and pallets.

I think we are all in for the chopping bloc, its just a matter of time. As I see it most people start to get very burned out with the forum and they only escalate and escalate until you see it coming from a mile away. I think the mods should issue more temporal bans (especially to new arrivals) and less permanent ones because its always the same, new arrivals burn the veterans, they get banned, the new arrivals become veterans and a new batch burns them in turn.
On a sidenote Im weirded Ive not been banned yet (or some other people for that matter).
Being new or a 'veteran' shouldn't have any impact. It's simply a case of being respectful to others and being mature when you engage in a debate. It's okay to disagree with someone, but people seem to forget this and assume it's a personal attack.
I'm sure the people who have been banned don't get banned for their first offence. It's most likely a repetitive behaviour until the mods have had enough.
-
@Steel_Eyed said:
How do yall even know there are bans happening? Re-reading older threads?
Most of the time I see them happen in real time lol. They'll be going back and forth with someone on a thread and all of a sudden have a banned icon.
-
I'm enjoying it definitely, I just feel it's over too quickly. Once you get the 12 cosmetics the voids are pretty pointless.

Sometimes it brings a smile to my face and I go, "Yup, that person was just a matter of time."
I feel you! There was someone on here I kept having run ins with and was praying they'd get a ban. They were always so negative, rude and condescending in every response. My wish was granted. What made this even sweeter was they were banned for responses to one of my posts lol. Good riddance.
-
A lot of my challenged haven't been registering correctly recently. It's such a pain when it's the difference between playing 1 more game or choosing a new challenge.
-
Charms for survivors are pointless anyway to be honest. I never notice other players charms and only see mine when I'm equipping them. But I do agree splitting them is annoying.
For survivors I think a cool idea would be to have them hanging from gens, so you'd have all 12 charms decorating a gen. Nothing special but would give you something to look at for 90 seconds.
I also thought a cool idea for killers would be if you could decorate the basement. Hang ornaments on the walls, change the textures of the floor and walls etc...

Lol drew my own conclusion because I called him out on his title? Nice one, Average.
Out of his own words "People wonder why solo suvivors play selfishly for hatch" then I (as anyone would) assume that in the body of the post he/she is going to tell us the "why"... No? No, what he did is present us with an anecdote about how survivors in his matches were more concerned about t-bagging the killer and as a result he/she could not get hatch... thus THAT must makes solo survivors play selfishly. 🤣
Not the fact that the very thing they themselves did was already playing selfishly, when they decided to pigeonhole every solo Q survivor into "Well previous survivors t-bagged, so these survivors are gonna t-bag too". Yaaaa, sure.
Nice try though.
Dude, stop overthinking it. The text in the post is more important than the title. I already responded to you and told you what me post meant, if you want to keep believing it means something else go ahead, you do you pal 😘
'The title, other than attracting attention, is simply suggesting people wouldn't play selfishly if the challenges didn't rely on the behaviour of other survivors. In my case, hanging around the exit gates when trying to escape through hatch.'

Given that the pallet was already dropped, a player Dead Harding doesn't make sense, but a script Dead Hard would.
Is it ironclad proof on its own? No. But when a player's been sus all match...
Ah right, so there's a hack that allows players to auto dead hard whenever a killer swings? I didn't know that, but that makes more sense.
I'm not denying the existence of cheaters, I've seen plenty of footage on YouTube and have been in 2 lobbies myself with hackers it's just nothing stood out in the OP that made me think hacker, but now I know.
I have to admit though, I've been playing DBD for over 5 years and have only encountered 2 hackers (that I'm aware of). On these forums it sounds like it's an every day experience which seems a little sus.

Just played a match against a Claudette that was hacking. The crazy part is though that I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt when I noticed that her Boil Over was SUPER effective on me, and just assumed they were hitting every great skill check. But then, while chasing her and swinging at a pallet she had dropped on accident, she dead harded..... We locked eyes and that was it, after camping her to death and letting the others leave, im left disappointed at the state of the game and it's hacking right now considering I was almost willing to blame her hacking on my own gameplay
Can someone explain to me how Dead Harding after dropping a pallet is a sign of cheating? If she dropped the pallet by accident, she could have used Dead Hard by accident.
As for Boil Over, she might have been hitting all Skill Checks and did you fall from a height whilst carrying her? This adds a decent amount to the wiggle bar. Also, there are other perks she or her team could have been using to make wiggling more efficient.

-
That is odd. I don't think I have ever spawned in the killers terror radius. I have had some awful spawns though. In the last few days I've had 2 gamed where I have spawned with the killers Hex in frame. As a survivor this was a win lol, but I couldn't help but feel bad for the killer.
