Original:
Alien 👽
Killer: Green Alien
Survivor: Lab Coat Scientist ( 1 Survivor but can be Male & Female like Legion)
Map: Area 51 (half inside, half outside)
Licensed:
Survivor Only: Shaggy from Scooby-Doo
Chapter - Game of Thrones (Yes I know it's not horror)
Killer: White Walker
Survivor: Jon Snow
-
Played last night with a friend. All of his survivors went up 2 prestige levels. Survivors who were on 0 prestige went to 2, some that were on 3 went to 5, and one that was 12 went to 14!
Meanwhile, not a single one of my survivors increased lol.
-
I'm not going to get worked up until BHVR respond to this, but if this is true that will be the last straw for me. Sure I'll still play the game here and there but I won't spend another penny on the game. No more cosmetics, or licensed characters.
For BHVR's sake I really hope this isn't there intention, it would be a complete slap in the face to the community and playerbase.

Thank you, this makes me feel better. I don’t stream and mostly play solo, though I got some coworkers interested in trying this game out. I’m hoping it’s only temporary and I’ll eventually get 300mbps soonish*.
Good to hear! You'll be fine. You may experience a little inconvenience here and there but it won't restrict you from playing games or streaming shows. My Mum and Step-Dad stream a lot (Netflix & Prime) and can still enjoy shows at 5mbps.
-
I don't have much experience of playing at 18mbps, but my step-dad lives in a private area and only manages to get about 5mbps on a good day. I bought him a PS5 as he loves Call of Duty (I got him into it when the PS3 came out) and he plays it religiously every evening for an hour or two. He says sometimes he gets a few games that lag, but otherwise plays without issue and enjoys it. He tends to lag more when we play together and I'm the host.
I imagine you will have a similar experience, although I'd recommend you don't stream and stick to solo for the time being.
-
I mean, SBMM/MMR for a start. You said it yourself, you've only played 4 games as Killer and have just bought Artist. You're playing against weak survivors and are doing okay. You're not exactly wiping the floor with them by the sounds of it.

Sadly it's not funny it's the truth.
Ok no fun: survivor will overuse it, doing the opposite and spam it for toxic reasons and the world will end.
This may happen every now and again from a few toxic playerd but it would be very rare. I hardly ever get paired with survivors who want to ruin the game for themselves and everyone else. That being said, survivors can already throw games if they want to, or let you die on hook etc. Chat wouldn't encourage that it would do more to prevent it.
In regards to spamming the commands, most games that have this functionality have a cool down to prevent it. Everything you mention has a solution so I don't think your argument holds much ground to be honest.

Sry man this is just the answer on your question, why it isn't implemented.
I don't know, I don't really see an answer. I just see a poor attempt at trying to be funny, maybe you could elaborate and articulate yourself a bit better if you plan on sticking around these forums to debate?

Real reacts
- Someone go for the save -> No one is going for the save
- I'm going for the save -> Everyone is going for the save
- I'm on a gen -> Chased survivor running to you
- Find / Repair a gen -> Survivor following you
- Start a chase -> Survivors: ???
- I'm being chased -> Survivors: I'm being chased, I'm being chased, I'm being chased, I'm being chased
- Killer coming -> Survivors: Killer coming, Killer coming, Killer coming, Killer coming, Killer coming
- Find Totem -> No
Great input, thanks for that. Very helpful and constructive.

With respect, I'd much sooner characterise your position here as naive. It's not hard at all to push a button, but I have zero faith that a huge chunk of players would actually bother to do it, lol.
In an ideal situation, I'd love active communication tools (as long as it's not voice comms specifically), but I think that the groundwork needs to be laid in case they aren't used. Other games do this too- there's usually a good split between passive and active information conveyance, in my experience.
Both would be ideal, my position is more staked on which is given first.
I think you're wrong. If players new and old saw in game commands being used in most games they played, they would eventually start using them because it would become a natural part of the game. Maybe not every single player in every game, but guarantee at least one survivor would which would still be an advantage. But let's agree to disagree.
-

Certainly, I see their value, but the issue currently is that not everyone is on the same page when it comes to information exchange. From that angle, I really feel like their opening moves towards fixing that issue should be angled towards ensuring everyone is on the same page, and the only way to achieve that is passive information.
I don't know, I think you're being a little naive (no offence intended).
How hard is it really for a survivor to know what they're about to do and then press a button to let other players know? For example, if a player knows they're about to go for an unhook and knows there is a command for it, chances are they would press it, especially when they know it will improve their chance of survival.
Again, I like the idea of passive information/icons, but I feel there's more value with chat commands personally. Hopefully we end up with both!

AS a hobby game dev, it would take maybe a week or less to implement non-verbal communication tools... specifically, a week or less from a single dev.
It's just straight up laziness from the devs.
I agree with a lot of what you're saying, but let's not turn this into a 'bash the devs' topic. I want them to take this seriously and at least consider the possibility :)
-
@jesterkind said:
Voice chat isn't a good idea, and the language barrier is one of the many great reasons why.
As for text commands... that's more doable, but it's what I'd classify as "active" information exchange. IE, it requires your teammates to not only bother using it at all, but to know how and when to use it most effectively. What this game needs before it can get away with active information exchange is some robust passive information exchange, like the status icons and the ability to see your teammate's builds, and like a basekit Kindred, etc etc.
I'm not against text commands or a ping wheel at all, but we need something that isn't dependant on teammates bothering to use it first.
I don't disagree with you, passive icons would be great, but I think you're under appreciating how useful and simple to use text commands are.
Sure, not every player is going to use them effectively, but most of us veteran players will be able to tell when that's the case. Also, the text commands aren't just for you to read, I think you could provide a lot of value to your team mates by using them even if they choose not to. 'I'm going for the save', 'I'm working on a gen', 'Killer is coming'. They're just nice little drips of info that don't exist currently.

I did, and I agree with it and mentioned that it was talked about before.
I am just strongly against voice chat. Although I thought you were advocating for both - hence why I went off on that tangent, my b :)
No need to apologise, I just assumed you thought I was only talking about voice chat. This post is more my solution to having chat in the game without needing voice chat :)
-
@KingFieldShipper said:
Nintendo would never allow it for switch, so it wouldn't even be available on all platforms. The language barrier is 100% an issue - even in the US, would be absolute chaos in EU/Asia. I am also not the only one going to automatically turn off the feature in the first place - I don't like my voice being heard, I don't like hearing other people scream into my ear. And if it was forced I'd honestly quit the game.
People have suggested #2 already and even talked about it on the q&a, as well as indicators on the hud telling what survivors have doing.
Did you read the post? I mention voice chat, but this post is about in game commands. You can use them in Rocket League on Nintendo.
-
@BenOfMilam said:
that would require to much effort. BHVR isn't capable of putting in work that would actually improve the player experience.
If that was truly the case and it's too much work for them, I wish they'd just be honest and admit it instead of finding a terrible excuse (like we have too many players who speak different languages lol).
-
Shattered Hope should be basekit imo. There are 5 totems in each game which means survivors can get 5 uses out of their boon perks. Allowing constant blessings is just ridiculous.
Other options to nerf boons:
- Increase the time it takes to bless a totem each time one is snuffed out.
- You have 3 tokens, each time you bless a totem you lose a token. Once all tokens are gone, you lost the ability to bless totems. (This would allow up to 12 blessings per game if all survivors brought a boon perk).
-
I love the map as a survivor, have a much higher survive rate on it. As killer it can be a pain sometimes when going against good survivors but still fun to play.
-
Nope. Haven't played DBD in a couple of weeks because I was fed up of playing against him.

I had mentioned my idea for the Hawkins map to be re-textured with black walls, floors and ceilings could be mirrors with neon lights running along them and have the center of the map changed to be a stage and dance floor. The upstairs could have been redone to be VIP rooms and an office room.
Mandy shot it down and said Hawkins isn’t coming back in any form. I’m assuming it has to do with the license and Netflix.
I like the idea, but I prefer the idea someone suggested a year or so ago about turning it into a recording studio. Your idea merged with this would be pretty cool.
Such a waste if they don't reuse it. I can only guess they'll bring it back for Stranger Things Chapter 2.

I play SWF with 4 friends every Thursday, and solo during the week (when I'm not playing other games) and escape way more when I'm on my own.
That being said, SWF still provides a huge advantage due to communication, especially when playing with 4 strong players.
2 of us are strong players, 1 of my friends is average and the other is pretty pants. We do have some great games from time to time, but this relies heavily on communication and organisation. I reckon if I played SWF with them without headsets we'd be screwed.
This is why I really support the idea of kindred basekit. It would help bridge the gap between swf and soloq. Either that or just allow all players in a lobby to use mics.

Actually Tim Burton confirmed it is mainly a Halloween film. Though I think we can all say it's both Halloween and Christmas.
It's a Halloween themed Christmas movie, so yes it is both, but if it could only be one I'd say it's closer to being a Christmas movie.
My wife and I watch it ever Christmas eve and have done for the last 8 years.

I agree, 30 minutes is long enough. I haven't had many games last longer than 30 minutes, but when they do they're not fun.

I’m never gonna stop asking for Kindred basekit. I’ve been asking for it for years now and solo needs it more now than ever.
I disagree with you on quite a few things, but this i completely agree with and have also wanted it for years. Helps bridge the gap between soloq and swf.

No, that's probably legit. I have a friend who's a P59 Steve, and there's a few real P100s at this point. You figure prestiging has gotten a lot cheaper with the bloodweb change - it takes about 1.2m BP to level up as opposed to the old 1.8m.

A mess-about build, but one which just occured to me on my randomizer:
Build: The Power of the Punch
Infectious Fright, Jolt, Devour Hope, Forced Penance
One for wanting a satisfying knockdown feel.
Nice thanks. I'm guessing this would be ideal on a killer like Oni.

I use a stealth trapper build with:
-dragon's grip: when you kick a gen and survivors touch it for the next 30 seconds they get exposed;
-insidious: when you stand still for 2 seconds you get undetectable until you move. I stay hidden near the gen to get value from dragon's grip;
-dark devotion: when the obsession steps on a trap or when he gets hit, my terror radius is on him for 30 seconds. I can use this to be sneaky around the map while placing traps;
-play with your food; when you start a chase with the obsession and you lose chase, you get a 5% extra movement speed for each token (up to 3). Since you may hit the obsession to lose terror radius, you will gain a token and get a 5% extra movement speed to place traps faster and sneaky.
It's very situational but it's funny when it works.
Perfect thanks. Got him set up and ready!

Legion, Mural Sketch and Never-Sleep Pills, Rancor + Nemesis with BBQ and Iron Maiden. No one can hide which means you'll be able to get constant frenzy downs if you're good enough. It doesn't guarantee a down like some have said a long while ago when his add-ons were reworked. It takes skill when people split up. Though if a map was allowed, I'd suggest The Game.
@TheGentlemen said:
Sadako, this build isn't meta at all but it's centered around trying to condemn survivors.
- Save The Best For Last - helps in chases
- Fear Monger - keeps sprint busters down if they touch gens
- Call of Brine - Gen regression
- Discordance - helps in the early game especially
The two addons I use are
- Iridiscent Video Tape - allows you to spam condemn with one tv if you demanifest and hit a survivor
- Tape Editing Deck - all survivors start with tapes
You can swap the addons out, but it'll be a lot harder to condemn survivors
Even if you don't go for condemnation, this build is still solid on her in my opinion, though she is very weak so take that as you will.
Try to avoid The Game if you can though because it's so pallet heavy. I've ran brutal and enduring in this build at some point to combat that.
Thanks both, got them both set up and ready to go. Appreciate the suggestions, especially because some of these perks I rarely use or have never used.

1st time I did it legit after 4 games of trying, but I farmed when I went for the PS5 trophy. Was giving me hell!

Hard disagree. I got the platinum trophy on PS4 and again on PS5 and the killer adepts were incredibly difficult in comparison to survivor.

One of my strengths is looping therefore me with Spine Chill is a big deal against the killer. Im not speaking for others im speaking for myself. The longer"i" loop the killer the bigger the % of me or my teammates escaping.
If it works for you, that's great.
Find it hard to imagine spine chill assisting with looping tbh. Surely you can tell if the killer is chasing you without it by listening to the terror radius, looking behind you and focusing on the red stain?
For soloq I mostly use Windows, Lithe, Lightweight and Quick & Quiet.
Sometimes I'll throw on We'll Make It, Rookie Spirit and Kindred.
-
These would be a bit OP as items, but potentially new perks.
Security Camera: Place a camera anywhere in the map, and get a direct livefeed to the steam. Once the camera has been destory, you cannot place another. (I imagine a small screen would appear in the top right of the screen at all times and you could press the action button for it to open in full screen)
Crowbar: When opening an exit gate, press the action button to jam a crowbar against the lever. The progress bar to open the exit gate will continue to fill after you let go.
-
Evil Dead is a great game, but it's completely different to DBD other than it being a 4v1 in the horror genre. Comparing the two is ridiculous.
-
You lost me at Spine Chill.
-
I think this is the balance soloq needs. It would help coordinate the team without any need for communication.

Its most likely due to it being impossible to open the profile to check if its a cheater or not, i’d do the same but on console you can’t open steam profiles anyways
Bit extreme. Most people either stream or just don't want people sending them salty messages because they're egos can't take a loss.
I've encountered cheaters in DBD maybe 4 times in the 5 years I've played. It doesn't seem common enough to warrant dodging games against people who use anonymous mode. Personally I think you care way too much about winning if this is your attitude towards the game, but as I said previously, you do you.
-
@Lynxx said:
It's anons and I refuse to play with them.

-
I'm quite happy playing Soloq as is to be completely honest, but agree it would benefit from some buffs.
Personally I'd just love them to make Kindred basekit. A simple change, but would help coordinate players without any need for communication.
-
I always go out of my way to help my team, even if it means I die trying to help them. If I can trade hooks at EGC to allow my teammate to survive, I class that as a win.
This does depend on how the other team plays though. If they're not being supportive I won't be inclined to help as much, unless I want a few extra points.
-
Hmm... would you rather get a handy from Freddy or Bj from Demogorgon?
-
Yeah okay. And let's also remove looping while we're at it...
-
I've won more games against Wesker than I have lost, but I still hate going against him. Almost every game I play is against him now and it's irritating. His voice lines also bug me.
Still don't agree with people DCing, but I don't blame them.

I dont want to run perks to counter this every single game, because these perks have been nerfed to death especially DS
But if this is happening as much as you claim it is, surely you'll have better games if you used perks to counter tunnelling and slugging?
