I agree wholeheartedly.
Killer BP and Emblems make sense.
Survivor BP and Emblems really don't.
Evader and Altruism emblems should work the way Survival does, in that you start at Iridescent and lose points when negative events happen. The way it works now, if you perform TOO well, you lose. Go figure.

Would be kinda neat if they were trying out daily login rewards or something.
Doesn't sound like that, but still.

It means you received a gift, and your account has been awarded 50,000 BP and 1,000 shards.

I'd hate for a killer to be 100% audio based in this game.
I don't know if I need an equalizer or something specifically for this game, but there's always 500 louder noises overpowering everything. (Why is there just passive music playing so often, not even in chases, for instance?)
-
Murderous Creativity.
Random items are strewn about the map, each of which Jason may pick up to kill some fools. Each item is usable in slightly different ways.
(Insert a bunch of different items Jason has used throughout the series here. Machete, pitchfork, axe, knife, speargun, whatever.)
Axe lowers movement speed but would let him break pallets and walls extremely fast, pitchfork could have a longer lunge range, machete is an insta-down one time, etc)
Any weapon could be dropped at any time, which sort of plays into the next thing:
"Barehanded" Jason would have a very short lunge, but good map presence by way of some sort of mobility mechanic. Something that would allow him to move quickly from one area of the map to another, but only if no survivors were looking at him. (No, that wouldn't be easy to make work. Yes, it'd probably just be messed up.)
I know some of that just sort of sounds like a melange of other killer abilities, but there's only so much to work with in the game mechanics! 😂

One thing they should have done long time ago: remove the category cap of 8000 points but keep the 32k cap. People who get chased all the time or do objective all the time will gain more points with this change
Indeed. Especially since survivor objectives don't really play well into each other.
As a killer, if I just do my job, it usually fulfills all four objective/emblem categories pretty well. If I find people, I disrupt their actions. If I win the ensuing chase, people get hit. If they get hit they get hooked. If they're hooked, gens aren't getting done. Boom, all my BP and emblems are rolling in.
For survivors it's so awkward. Doing a gen? Well, you're not unhooking anyone. You're not getting chased. Well what if no one is hooked anyway? What if the killer doesn't come your way? Well, uh, then...hm. Oh, the killer saw you? Now you're not doing anything but being chased, which there's a good chance you'll lose. So no other categories getting fulfilled.
I just hate survivor scoring. I almost think it should be mostly team-wide in some way. I know there's SOME allowance for gen progress while you're being chased or something, but it just doesn't work well.

Honestly, what should happen is the Killer starts steadily losing BPs while they are in close proximity to a hook survivor for longer that XX seconds. It doesn't punish a killer that is stopping altruistic survivors because the killer is getting BP's for downing the altruistic survivors. However, if the killer is just sits in front of a survivor all match, then they don't get BP's because the BPs got drained away camping.
They're already losing BP by camping as long as you don't all run face first into them.

If people want to farm, then that's great. More power to them.
It's not my cup of tea. It's just as "boring" to me as "tryhards" are to farmers.

Why I believe the hatch currently favors the Killer:
- Killer has faster movement speed (sometimes a lot faster depending on killer).
- As the killer you get to move easily around the map with no worry and look for the hatch. Once the hatch spawns, there is a higher chance that the killer will run across it before the final survivor does.
- The survivor has to worry about the killer finding them so they can't move freely (especially when they are the last one).
- Killer gets FREE time (from the initial death hook) to look for the hatch or get to the hatch without it opening in order to close it.
What advantage does the survivor have?
Should the survivor have any advantage?
It's a last-ditch effort, something that will let you get away even after the team has failed in every other way. It's a final opportunity to save your item, get 5000+ points and deny the killer if you can just stumble upon it first.
How much more do people want it to be?

Queuing in SWF with a lower-rank teammate does not actually guarantee you'll get matched with lower-rank killers. The SWF group is matched with a killer based on the highest survivor rank in the lobby. So if, as you said, there were 3 rank ones and a rank twenty, the killer you'd face will most likely be red ranked.
That's absolutely false.
It has been said on this forum for a long time now. Hell, I've tested it myself. Add a low rank person to a lobby of red/purple ranks and you'll get matched against a ton of baby killers.
-
Do you know why spammers STILL send out those, "Hello, I am the Crown Prince of Zimbabwe, and I want to share $10,000,000 with you." emails?
They're totally stupid, right? Well, you still get those emails because someone is still paying them off.
Why is this relevant?
Camping is usually self-defeating. A killer won't win the game standing in one place all game. But you know why they keep doing it? Because someone is still paying them off.
If no one ever paid that Bubba sitting in the basement, he'd stop bothering after a while. Stop sprinting face-first into chainsaws and handing 4k's to someone who never even moves, and maybe you'll find they don't do it quite as much.

For some reason, every time someone admits to using comms in this game they are perfect angels who NEVER discuss whatever is happening and instead talk calmly about their day or the weather. With so many good samaritans, it must all be in killer player's heads that people have an advantage. I wonder what all those twitch streamers are doing right now...
Yeah, it's kinda funny.
You even bring it up and someone is going to come at you with, "DON'T SHAME ME FOR HAVING FRIENDS LOL"
Comms are a massive advantage. It's insane. Even when it's just me and my wife playing, the amount of information we can give each other in real-time is massive.
But yeah, if you say that, there's always that one guy that you know is queuing with their "Rank 1, 1, 1, 20" SWF in Discord just looking to steamroll baby killers and saying, "BUT I JUST WANT TO HANG WITH FRIENDS BRUH"
-
To be honest, I would even accept downgrading an item. (Turn an Ebony Mori into a random purple item, for instance.)
Just so many useless things. So many. And they only exist to extend the BP grind, you'll never even look at most of them in your inventory.
-
I'm not a fan of Mori's, even as a killer. Keys I'm actually kinda indifferent about, it's like the game just ends and nothing happened. How can I even be mad about that? It's just a weird feeling.
Anyway, used a Mori today for a challenge. This was the feedback from endgame chat:
Thought that was a good one. 😁

No you shouldn't feel bad. I would have t-bagged and flashlight clicked as well and made her either hit me out or I would have waited the time down to the last second before leaving.
It's a taunt and the entire purpose is to annoy the other side. It's then up to each individual whether or not it bothers them with some people getting extra annoyed for some reason. I'd say most online PvP games has some way to taunt and DBD is no different. People "shouldn't" get upset over it and people shouldn't be given the finger wag of disapproval for taunting.
Granted I'm more of a time and place kind of taunter. I only taunt at killers that play rather scummy in order to gain their attention as people that play scummy are normally the most effected. Sometimes they'll even throw the entire game because you t-bagged once by going on a forever chase and then camping. Frankly that's a win in my book.
People that taunt at every pallet just look silly and are generally just wasting their time. Unless you're a really good looper you're only helping the killer and in the case of said person being a good looper one simply has to abandon and move on. The taunt is there to keep your attention so don't play into it's hands.
I mean, sure, the ideal reaction is to not care about someone being rude.
That's not really an excuse to BE rude, though.

Earlier today I switched from my wraith to my survivor main Claudette. And this other wraith was totally only going for me and let the others all escape. I didn’t even do anything salty or toxic though I think the user just hates certain people 🤷♂️.
Or he couldn't catch anyone else and you were just the one that he ran into the most, or who hid the worst, or whatever other reason.
People form these complex reasonings about how someone hated them and it's because of this and that and they were unfairly persecuted and it's just so terrible. It's usually much simpler than that.
-
Jeez, just roll with the (obvious) joke, Nancy! 😛
-
Ah, yes, I see it!!!
The picture very prominently features a beam of sunlight. From the sun. Interesting.
The setting appears to have pews. A feature common to a church, or other place of worship.
In a place of worship, one tends to engage in praise.
Connect the dots, and you're praising...in the presence of the sun...or perhaps praising the sun itself....
Gentlemen, we have confirmed the new killer.
-
No.
Choosing to remain injured is already it's own disadvantage. It's a strategic decision to focus on an objective rather than safety.
-
Honestly, like I said in another thread, I'm thinking about just leaving the forum for now.
There's just too much extreme survivor-biased nonsense. People backseating, insulting, and judging killers for everything.
It gets to the point that survivors are justifying suicide on hook or disconnecting and actually being met with agreement rather than derision. I've never seen that in a gaming community before.
I don't know why people can't just let others play the game as they see fit and within the rules. I don't care if you bring four Brand New Parts and go insane on gens and loop shack all day because I'm trash and can't catch you. So why the endless harassment because I had the nerve to hit you?
-
@Tjiani said:
Well... A lot of killers have a hard time understanding that survivors are supposed to try and escape?
A survivor looping... Is toxic
A survivor using a flashlight... Is toxic...
A survivor bringing a toolbox... Is toxic...
Genrushing.. Is toxic... Palletstunning is toxic... Trying to save a team-mate is toxic
However camping, slugging and tunneling seems to be a legit and fine strategy, and none of you seems to have anything against that? Even though we all know it ruins the entire game for the person charged with it, and on top of that also equals a depip. Apparently its fine being a dick as long as you are on the killer-side, cause you are all just doing your job right?
People keep trying to make this equivalency, except no one actually says this #########. People get frustrated by stuff like flashlights, sure, but I've never seen killers - as a community - saying the things about survivors that survivors seem to believe about killers. Literally no killer goes around saying, "Toxic dick survivor looped me!"
(Some people do whine about genrushing, but that's nonsense, too. It's just the survivors job. They do it exactly as fast as the killer lets them. Of course they're always "rushing" it, that's their job.)
Just look at this thread. People have already said that a killer is, "selfish", "childish", "toxic", "a dick", "indecent", "disrespectful" and survivors even justifying quitting or disconnecting. Why? Because a killer chased someone they don't think the killer should have chased. That's literally it. They see the killer chasing Survivor X when they believe the killer should not have, and therefore is deserving of everything said above.
And the worst part is that they really seem to believe that they're the good guys in the equation. That by holding these beliefs about other players, making demands with regards to other peoples gameplay, and engaging in these behaviors, they're actually better people than the killers they're backseating, judging and insulting. That they're the ones holding the "mutual respect" and being "decent people".
Also, *the killer is not a dick for winning*. What leads survivors to think that? So you died and depipped, that's part of playing a game, sometimes you lose. That the killer is not a decoration, they're an obstacle. Their goal is to stop you from escaping. That's it.

I mean I play survivor more than killer, and don't expect any of these "implied rules" to be followed. I love games that aren't one sided. Hell losing is great too if the killer is better than me. The thrill of being challenged and the adrenaline high from the chase is why I enjoy survivor. Granted tunneling and camping and other such tactics are viable, a good killer doesn't solely relay on them as their sole counter to everything.
Indeed. Every tactic has a use, you just can't lean on any one of them
Normally I never camp a hook. It's just not interesting, and it's usually not beneficial to me, either. But last night on an Oni match I fully admit that I camped SUPER hard. Full on pitched a tent, lit a campfire, and roasted some marshmallows. Why, you ask? Well, I was getting schooled. Was playing another perkless/no-addon game for practice and the survivors were honestly too good for me to get away with that.
But they made one big error: The last 3 gens were all packed together in a corner of the map.
So you're goddamned right that I set up a campsite worthy of legend over in that corner, and every time I downed a survivor I made damn sure that I gave them my full attention to make sure they enjoyed their stay in Casa Del Corner. Turned out to be a 4k when it probably should have been a 0k if they had just rushed a little less and paid attention to the gen layout.
Sometimes the necessary strategy is messy. That's just how it is sometimes. But honestly, what else was I to do? The entire game collapsed into that tiny little corner, every remaining gen was there, all 4 survivors were there, so why would I go somewhere else?
-
The portal concept never seemed that interesting - or really particularly relevant to the canon of the Demogorgon - to begin with.
Some mechanic to pull survivors into the "Upside Down" with related mechanics and escape criteria would seem more interesting, although I guess Freddy already kind of uses that theme with pulling people into the "Dream World".

Me over here at Devotion 0, player level 40 or something, listening to everyone say that you have to be at least Devotion 1 to not be a newbie.

@Dead_by_Gadfly said:
Well, just so you understand, the reason killers slug is because it creates pressure. You said you never play killer so I understand why you dont get this right away, but its just a mathmatical fact that a killer doesnt have time to win 12 chases and get 12 hooks. If you manage to do that without slugging its not because youre a God tier killer, its because the survivors severly messed up and werent doung gens.
With that in mind killers have to create pressure on the survivors to get/keep them off gens. If you have the opportunity to slug 1 survivor and then immediately chase another thats 2 survivors not doing gens. If another survivor comes to pick the slug up, thats 3 not doing gens. Anytime you have 3 people not doing gens that extends the game out and you have time to capitalize on mistakes and get your hooks.
My recommendation is people should play both sides, it will not only help you understand things like this, but it will make you better as well playing the side you prefer.
Indeed. Hooking is the "primary goal" for killers, but it's also the fastest way to get a downed survivor back to a gen. That and picking up a survivor can carry some risk of its own.
So yeah, sometimes slugging is just better.
-
I dunno what to tell ya, man. I get 4k's regularly with no perks, addons, or offerings.
Killers are fine. I do like to joke that survivors are much tougher than the killers, but that's just a gameplay thing. (Seriously, look how much damage survivors take and keep going! Killers get flashed with some light and they're out for the count. Wimps!)
Also, stop complaining about "genrushing". That's the survivors goal. It's their objective. Of course they do it as fast as you'll allow them to do it. Don't be like those survivors who whine about their opponent just doing their job.

I got told that im a toxic survivor who has to rely on crutch perks when the only good perk i was using was bt
And much more.
Both sides make up excuses to justify losing.
ACTUAL tunnling and camping isnt fun for either side
Rush generators all you want, I'll never judge survivors for trying to win.

Nope, I am with PigMainClaudette that playing with some basic respect is not asking too much. Everything in life has ettiquette attached to it and this is no different. When I play killer I adhere to just common decency because the survivors waited to get in that match same as me, they are trying to get points and pips same as me. And guess what I very rarely get any kind of blowback in post-chat regardless of the matches outcome.
I also do view killer as if I am hosting the party and survivors are my guests. Their enjoyment of the round is essentially in my hands, so this "it is not my responsibility to make sure someone else has fun" is a selfish and childish statement.
When I play survivor I do try to gauge how the killer is fairing and have and do give them a kill if it seems like it went real rough. I play with one other person about half the time and we have both given hooks to killers who were struggling. So my game-play is generally fairly altruistic to both sides.
So you're basically farming. That part is fine with me.
And you think other people are "childish", "selfish", "indecent" and whatever else if they don't do it the way you want....What?
What is it with you guys who keep trying to take this high-horse, I'm-a-better-person attitude, but then talk like this just because people play a game differently? Why do you feel justified passing such harsh judgments on real players based on who they chase as a killer?

When it comes to dealing with me, I reciprocate the respect shown to me. It's not hard to understand. Treat others how you wish to be treated and all that.
Killers playing the game does not make them a terrible person.
Jesus, do you hear yourself? You keep talking like you're taking the high road, but the things you say...it's ridiculous. They're "toxic dicks" if they don't play the way you tell them. They're "terrible people" if they make the strategic choice to chase someone you don't want them to chase.
You can't keep talking about respect when you view other people this way, I'm sorry.

It's called mutual respect and I wish that more people in this day and age used it.

Did I? I spent a lot of time looking with a camera, basically being a passive observer in a match for about a 10th of the time I spent searching for a game.
How is THAT playing?
I say the same thing about getting spawn-peaked in Rainbow Six: Siege. You don't "play the game" if you're killed early off. That's how I see it, and that's how I will say it.
And I play both sides, so don't give me that crap about one side or the other. It's in my name for a reason. I never said that the killer's job is to make the game fun for survivors, only that being deleted super early is not playing the game, in the sense of there was very little time spent in game and even less interaction with other players in the game. Part of the reason I despise Hillbilly and people who rely on his saw. There is no chase, there is no interraction.
I've had better games with only one or two kills than a 4k. I don't care if the last one gets hatch.
Maybe both sides should also respect each other so that we can still have a consistent and less toxic playerbase, but hey. You do you.
"Toxic" is demanding that others play the way you want. Again, how survivors don't understand this is mind-boggling to me.
There's literally no other game I can think of where this is SO pervasive. Where one group of players demands that another group plays the way THEY want, and the on top of that has the nerve to call THEM toxic if they don't abide.
-
I don't care for either of them, but who the hell am I?

Not very far. I just can't bring myself to play as much as I probably could.
Gotta stop letting trolls get to me, I guess.

Kills aren't everything. I've said it before, and I'll say it again. There is more to this game than seeing 4 skulls on an end screen. Ever noticed in horror how killers tend to play with their victims and scare them before killing them? And before some genius mentions Jason or Myers, that's Slasher and that's a different genre. True HORROR characters don't kill immediately unless they're a mindless animal like the Xenomorph.
This is shown in the Emblem system too! Look at the medal for Malicious, which is based around HURTING survivors, not outright killing them. Or Gatekeeper that's all about forcing them off generators and stalling out the game.

And to put it in perspective, waiting 20 minutes for a game only to be camped/tunnelled/mori'd and overall deleted within 2 minutes is not playing the game. Sitting on a hook for 80% of my time in a match is not playing the game. THAT is what I think @LetsPlayTogether was trying to say.
When I die, I want it to be because I was purely outplayed. Not because the killer didn't want to put in the slightest bit of effort.
No. That's bull.
You DID play the game. You lost fast. "Did I play the game?" is not predicated on time spent in that game.
If I start a round of CS:GO and walk out in the open and get AWPed right away, I wasn't "stopped from playing the game", I just lost right away. Why is this concept so hard to understand for survivors? Killers are not under any obligation to go easy on you. It's not their job to "make it fun" for you. Nor is it yours to "make it fun" for them. (And when does a killer EVER ask for that, anyway?)
Seriously, just go play KYF if it's important to you guys to have long games with lots of "fun" or something.
