Once I finish collecting stats from all matches, I will show them. But I can tell you this now, OOO is not commonly ran. The only “meta” perk that people complain about that has been nearly in all my games is Decisive. Spine Chill is moderately popular but it’s not an outlier in what I’ve recorded.

currently self-care is the most popular survivor perk lol

Ok, well, THAT I can agree with. People love Self-Care.

As a killer, I kinda love it, too. 😁

There are only 2 things that need to happen with the hatch:

    • The hatch needs to open as soon as the third survivor is sacrificed NOT after the full animation.
    • The exit doors need to spawn further apart. Despite what killer mains have said in this thread, 9 times out of 10, the doors spawn too close together. When you have killers that can go invisible (Wraith, Spirit) or have no terror radius (Ghostface) or can travel fast (Billy, Demigorgon) or set traps (Hag, Trapper), etc., close exit doors are incredibly killer-sided. It's not impossible to escape in that scenario, but the opportunity is dramatically reduced with very little work required on the killer side.

Imagine talking about "very little work on the killer side" when discussing a mechanic that's giving you a chance at a escape despite your team failing at their objectives and the killer having killed everyone else.

That'd be like me saying that it takes "very little work on the survivor side" to run through gates once opened.

It’s not a valid suggestion because if you looked at threads, it’s mostly killer mains complaining or killer mains showing screenshots.

and whenever a survivor makes a thread complaining, it’s commonly bombarded by angry killer players that can’t fathom the idea of survivors being unhappy.

if you choose to ignore those threads, then that’s on you.

Ok, this is bait. I get it.

I'm sort of, not really, joking.

By his logic, yeah survivors should be granted 2 pips for SURVIVING you know?

We do our objective, we open the gates and leave. That's it.

Why do we need to engage in a chase? Why are we REQUIRED to heal, if we finish our objectives and GTFOut.

    I totally agree.

The fact that survivors do better if:

We all got hit and knocked down and hooked but unhooked each other.

    Rather than if:

We evaded the killer, got the gens done quickly and escaped unscathed.

    Is very strange.

I’m not saying the games should be 0-1k, and I understand that 2k games are balanced. But all I ever see, are killers mains complaining about any little thing that doesn’t allow them to secure a juicy 4k and then they post threads of 10 screenshots where it’s all 4k games. It’s just ironic.

You're reading a VERY different forum from the rest of us, then.

Killer complaints usually revolve around matchmaking. The rest of the posts are "Here are MY unique snowflake thoughts on Freddy/NOED!"

  • @BigBrainMegMain said:

With a name like NERFDS sure, anything to benefit killers.

    A 0K should grant a Depip.

Survivors getting 5 gens done and leaving in 5 minutes should grant 2 Pips as well then.

You might be joking, but I would tend to agree with that. Why should survivors NOT be rewarded for doing great?

  • 0-1k would not be a balanced game. That's a "win" for the survivor team.

2k is - according to the devs - indicative of a balanced game.

The thing i dont understand about the new matchmaking is: how Will this make a difference then the matchmaking now?

If there are way less killers then you can change the matchmaking all you want, but it wont help. Now the devs Just make the mmr hidden so the people dont know you get screwed over by the matchmaking.

Am I wrong? Because i feel this is the case.

    Perhaps!

I hear a lot about a shortage of killers, and I figure it's probably accurate since my queues are faster than lighting sometimes, even though the resulting matches make absolutely no sense.

The role can be frustrating, but I guess I like it. I can't say what I'd do to make more people try it, though. Not something as crude as buffing killers, certainly. It's easy to feel like the community just resents you and the devs don't think you're a "real" player.

  • There's no method - or reason to have a method, for that matter - to somehow let someone "off the hook" for disconnecting from the game for one reason or another.

Also, when you do that, you're affecting other players as well. It's on you to have stable internet, not on other players to endure it or the game to give you a break for it.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1287707#Comment_1287707

The thing with Noed is, like I said whether you use it or not, it's a perk that just makes you look bad. Yeah survivors are gonna complain that they died to it because they shouldn't have, and there's also survivors that are gonna complain about it even though they still escaped because even though they didn't die, it made the killer look even more worst the fact they didn't get a 1K with a perk that instant downs and it's something to be happy about and brag about. Yeah it sucks when you don't get a 1K as killer and they still ######### talk you, but those are really just the ######### that have to get mad at everything.

"It makes them look bad" is just a factor of your opinion, though. There's nothing about it that should make someone look bad, it's just people hating on it so they want to insult people using it.

Might as well say that BBQ "makes you look bad" because you couldn't find survivors without it. Or DS "makes you look bad" because you fail at chases too much. It's all just opinion without a lot of basis.

  • It's the same for survivors. If you hide effectively, do the gens and get out...you get nothing. Hell, if the killer was egregiously bad, you may even depip for doing 5 gens and escaping.

The ranking system seems to encourage you to intentionally make "mistakes" if you're doing too well. It's rather goofy.

  • @KettleWettle said:

The reason why survivors get mad at Noed is because it's a perk that rewards for doing bad whether it activates or not, you're still using it. Yesterday I didn't get hooked the whole entire match because I played well and was able to loop the killer almost every time. I ended up dying on my first hook during endgame because of Noed even though I played well. I know it sounds like i'm complaining, but it's just a very bad perk that shouldn't be used.

I mean, it's not exactly unique among perks that mitigate mistakes.

  • Survivors get mad at anything you do.

I've literally played matches with no perks, no addons, no offering - and they still found SOMETHING to yell about.

  • @Poweas said:

Honestly, it triggers me so much that I just hook them and tell them lol.

    Yeah...

Last night I had a game on Lery's where I ended up slugging 3 people just because of an obnoxious flashlight-wielding Dwight being in my face constantly, so I was a little leery about picking one person up before I had him down.

So I hooked two people, but the last guy was an Ash and I didn't feel like he really deserved the three minutes he ended up on the floor just because the Dwight was so annoying. So I planned on giving him the hatch, but he just kept wiggling. Argh.

  • Survivors should have to play a level of Pipe Dream to complete a gen.

When a killer kicks the gen, it makes the pipe pieces all spin around.

  • "Flagship characters should be powerful!"

*SF5 Ryu cries in a corner*

  • @Dweeteater said:

They're around. Usually going straight to a gen while freshly unhooked then crying about "tUnNeLliNG". Just because you countered them doesn't mean they weren't trying.

Last night I got cried to for "tunneling" because:

    I hooked a Claudette.

Then ran across the map to pressure a gen, caught the guy there, and hooked him.

Saw a failed skill check at another gen, ran to it, and the Claudette was still on the gen when I got there.

    sToP tUnNeLiNg!!11

6 months and counting, actually more like 8 months and counting because it was broke for a while before that announcement. Is it going to be another 6 months before some actual progress happens? Because your link means absolutely nothing.

    Look, matchmaking is weird.

    We all know it.

    I hate it sometimes, too.

I don't know that players harping about it day in and day out on the forums is gonna help, though.

(And be honest, you know full well that as a killer you also have games where you utterly destroy a team of survivors that run straight for dead zones when they see you and drop shack pallet if you cough in their direction. The other day I saw a survivor at shack, and the moment I walked toward her she instantly dropped the pallet and teabagged. Like...uh...did you think that was a good thing to do? 😂)

The fact that you are recommending tunneling as a valid way to play the game shows how poor your way of playing is. However I agree with other people that say that keys don't really counter moris. I'm not opposed to the idea of giving extra pts for keys and moris even though they would do nothing for ranking.

"You're a poor player if your solution to a key is to kill the person holding the key."

    #survivorlogic

  • Damn, the drama in this thread all because of some balancing of holding down M2.

Pro Tip: Stop using up all your toolboxes to rush the first gen anyway.

  • @evilwithinIII said:

I think a lot of killers are Just right now pissed of because how unfair matchmaking is. Like if you are rank 20 the game feel incredibely survivor sided if you go against red ranks.

    Indeed.

I would never recommend to a friend that they pick up the game and try killer right now.

    Survivor, maybe. But not killer.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1287569#Comment_1287569

That's how the game should work, but with coms they always have information and can rotate. Not to mention that, with the amount of safe pallets and loops, plus second chance perks, no killer can win.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1287574#Comment_1287574

The same bs excuse. I get them all the time, not rarely. Vpn to the San Paulo servers and play at 1am cst, then tell me how rare these players are. Guarantee you will be screaming at the devs to fix this crap. I would pay good money for the balance team to play on this region for a week straight.

I would argue that perhaps you're not playing as well as you think, if you believe that you're facing extremely high level SWF 4-mans that often.

  • I never run NOED, because I don't want to be permanently stuck at 3 perks just on the chance that maybe we get to endgame and it gets me one extra kill or something.

Rather just kill all of you before we get to that point.

  • @Peanits said:

What you've just suggested is rubber band balancing. The worse you do, the more of boost you get as the game tries to level things out and make the match closer. It's fine in a game like Mario Kart where you're playing with a couple friends so nobody feels left out (the guy in last gets better items that jump them forward), but when it comes to a game that people like to take more seriously, it just leaves people feeling cheated. You'd basically be giving killers free kills (regardless of if they're playing well or not) and then speeding up the rest once they get their freebie. At that point the game is arbitrarily handing out wins without any regard for who's playing better.

Stopping the generators from going off is meant to be something the killer does, not something that's guaranteed by an outrageously long interaction until people start dying.

    Exactly.

It's incumbent on me to stop the gens from finishing. If I cannot do that, I lose.

Sometimes the survivors are just overwhelming. It happens.

  • @Dwinchester said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1287543#Comment_1287543

That's cute. 4 man swf squad comes in on coms. 4 players on 4 gens on a coldwin map. Hey, it's a wraith, he's on me, keep working on gens. Alright, he hit me and is headed towards cow tree, get off that gen now, im on the gen by shack. 3 gens pop. Crap guys, im fixing to go down, hide in the locker on the jungle gym and hit him with head on. Ok, I'm jumping in the locker, use the locker tech flashlight save that's impossible to counter. Well, the gens are done, ggez, be sure to teabag the toxic killer at the gates.

Yes, it's well known that peak survivor play will destroy peak killer play.

Is it possible to fix that without breaking literally every other part of the game? Probably not.

Fortunately, you don't actually run into that peak play very often. Yes, you'll run into 4-man SWF groups a lot, but many of them really aren't very good.

  • I don't. 🤣

I'm pretty trash at it. Especially with obstacles in the way, I'll track the survivor, throw, and then realize I just threw it right into a tree.

  • 1) Playing well isn't "toxic".

    2) Yes, a lot of survivors become EXTREMELY cocky and rude when they realize they have the upper hand. I don't know what to tell ya about that. It's just how they are.

  • I still can't hear normal breathing even with Stridor, so oh well.

Actually, there are several sounds in-game that don't seem to come through for me. You can walk right into me and I won't hear footsteps, for example. (Except mine, as the killer! Boy, those are clunky.)

It's not my ears, because I can pinpoint someone through a wall in CS:GO if they so much as scope. Just something about the game and my setup I guess.

Ok, so what you're describing is just poor play.

Survivors will do gens as fast as they can. That's their goal. Some survivors manage their time poorly, are overly cautious, or whatever. But they're all still going to be doing gens as fast as they think they can.

When you say, "I didn't get genrushed." it's a non-statement. They're always going to be going as fast as they can, it just might not be fast enough.

Ikr bhvr hates us killers and want us to stop playing so they can replace us with bots so the survivors can have fun😡😡😡

    /s

I mean, if they thought for a second that it would work, they'd do it.

I've said before that the game is largely predicated on the idea that the survivor goals are the primary gameplay focus. Killers are primarily there as an obstacle to those goals, not necessarily to have goals of their own.

It's why survivors are constantly mad about everything killers do. Because killers aren't viewed as playing the game, but as preventing others from doing so.

  • @OutcastEric said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1287280#Comment_1287280

Stop with this pressure argument! Some games it's impossible. I want this game to be where I have a chance to win no matter what killer I play or what map I get. This pressure argument is impossible to use in every scenario so just dont.

Then make specific points about killers and their issues.

There's no point in blaming survivors for doing their objectives. As many complaints as I have about survivors, I can't fault them for literally just playing their role.

  • @Entity_Hugs said:

I've had many 5 minute games.

The annoying part is coming here to talk about it.

Survivors: 5 minutes is fine! Apply pressure!

Killers: *Use Forever Freddy or other ways to slow down gens*

Survivors: That build is BORING/OP/<Whine Of The Day>! Devs! Change it!

    PRESHADAGENS!

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

I think I never had a 5 minute game as Killer, except when I was protecting the Basement Chest as Bubba and nobody came to visit me.

    CHEST PROTECTED

    Mission accomplished. 😁

  • Knowing when to separate to complete gens and deny the killer pressure IS them working together. "Working together" doesn't mean that people need to be in physical proximity or something.

  • I really don't know what people consider "genrushing" anyway.

The goal of survivors is to do generators. If they do it well, it goes fast. If not, it goes slow. Complaining about it seems silly. It's my job to stop them, not ask them to go slower.

(As for toxic survivors, well that's almost every game, so eh.)

  • Unfortunately, if people want to get out of a match, they're going to find a way to do so. Whether it's suicide on a hook, intentionally losing chases, and so on.

Not really any way to punish them for it in most cases.

  • @Poweas said:

just to clarify, i play both sides equally before people call me a survivor main...

That's exactly what a survivor main would say.

  • I always thought "No Mither" was a weird name for a perk that basically forces you to be much more careful and "worried" about everything.

  • Honestly, are keys really "unfair" or just incredibly uninteresting?

I don't feel like I was "defeated" or "outplayed" when a key is used, the game just ends and everyone really gets far less rewards than they otherwise might have. It's not really a significantly different feeling from the game disconnecting everyone suddenly.

  • @Theetis said:

Find me 5 people who genuinely enjoy going against iridescent head huntress. I'm fairly confident that saying "no one enjoys going against it" isn't a stretch, because I've seen many people agreeing with my statement, but not a single person ever disagreed.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1287099#Comment_1287099

I don't really see that many survivors actively trying to be toxic to the killer, at least not until the killer himself acts like an ######### from the very start of the match. Might just be me being lucky though. I personally don't BM the killers, because I don't see the point in it. I might teabag them a little at the exit or give a snarky remark in the end-game chat if they were playing like a complete #########, but that's it.

Some survivors just act toxic for the sake of being toxic, but the same can be said about the killers. This community is already very bad when it comes to both sides just accusing each other of stupid things, when both are equally guilty and I believe there's no need to add any more fuel to the flames.

I don't mean acting toxic specifically, I'm referring to the idea that survivors would somehow otherwise "play nice" but if you bring a certain addon or something, the gloves are off and they're going to be trying super hard and pressing M1 as hard as they can.

  • @Theetis said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1287078#Comment_1287078

It makes me feel like you consider a survivor toxic if they play the game with his monitor on.

Iridescent Head is an addon that basically no one enjoys going against; usually it's used by huntresses who just want to be ######### for no reason, or by bad huntresses that rely on the addon to get easy kills.

When do they "play nice" anyway?

Not that I'm expecting them to ever "go easy" on a killer or something, because their job is to escape by any means necessary. It's just weird to me when people act as if they MIGHT have "gone easy" but the killer used X or did Y so suddenly the gloves are off and we're going to REALLY escape now, bucko!!

  • Early gens always get done extremely quickly, but it doesn't mean a lot.

Hell, most of the time I don't even consider the game to be past the beginning stage until 3 gens are done, give or take. Sometimes I don't get into full swing until we're down to 1 left. (This is assuming a good survivor team. If I start killing people at 5 gens, nothing matters anyway.)

1 … 16 17 18 19 20 … 28
