  • The amount of whining I'm seeing on this thread is insane. I have played killer and played against swf sometimes I still win, and sometimes I get abused but that's on me and the only way to get better is to learn how to play against them and to beat them. I also play a survivor and I enjoy it more yes when I am playing with my friends but that does not make us god here and sometimes the killer still beats us all the whining that comes and surviving with friends automatically makes the game unfair or is cheating is silly play better and that includes me when I'm playing killer or if I get caught a survivor

If it was an intended feature of the game, the Devs should balance the game around Survivors having comms. Why haven’t they done that yet?

So that it is an unplayable for the people playing by themselves,

BBQ is INCREDIBLY easy to counter.

    1. Hide in a locker
    2. Hide behind the generator you're working on
    3. Run Distorion
    4. Stay within 42 meters of the hook
    5. Move one way, then the other to throw them off
    6. Just leave the area 4 seconds after a survivor is hooked

1 lockers aren't safe thanks to iron maiden and aren't in every corner of the map.

2 not every generator can you hide at the perfect angle to not be seen.

3 distortion won't be good until you have a way to get stacks back since Myers can get rid of 3 stacks in just as many seconds and that's without bbq.

4 sure, stay close by but I've then seen killers circle around the hook till the survivor hits at least phase 2

5 that's the obvious one and killers predict it a lot if they are smart

6 is valid but has just as many issues as 5.

And for the person who said that if only Ds and dh were as easy to counter imagine. The thing is those are super easy. Dh is all about the mindgame make them pop it early and you're gold and ds don't be a tunneling dick and you're gold and if you aren't being tunnely they just ran at you in the middle of a different chase finish that chase first

"You're a poor player if your solution to a key is to kill the person holding the key."

    #survivorlogic

Not what I said, kill them fair and square not oh go tunnel them to the ground and screw their entire game because they might find a way out. A key requires more than a mori cause the hatch has to actually spawn to be usable whereas a mori you just need to hook the person once with the exception of yellow ones

There is no way to “deal” with a key. Franklin’s demise would require 10 hits to destroy the key, which is unrealistic. The only solution is to tunnel the hell out of the survivor carrying it and hope that he is using the addon to keep it on death.

The fact that you are recommending tunneling as a valid way to play the game shows how poor your way of playing is. However I agree with other people that say that keys don't really counter moris. I'm not opposed to the idea of giving extra pts for keys and moris even though they would do nothing for ranking.

It sure is, but it kinda shows how little variety there is in the perk builds doesn't it? Or how little variety there is in terms of playstyle for both sides.

That's a problem. Because that means both sides are afraid to experiment with the pages upon pages of perks they have on every killer. Meaning there will be less fun and interesting games. You already know what to expect from both sides. And there in lies the core issue with DBD's balancing.

Perks are a means to respond to player playstyles. No one wants to play to lose of course, but everyone in this plays like it's eSports ready. Responding to how their opponent will play long before they get into a match with them.

Typically if I want to play a Killer, I just plop whatever perk I have that I think could be fun to see work + BBQ, and see how well I do with it. Same with Survivor if I'm not feeling tryhardy. But I know most people don't play like that. Which can lead to a lot of bland and boring gameplay, which I suspect is the reason behind a lot of those forum threads.

I agree with the lack of variety in perks played. That's why I like some of these tomes, it makes me use perks I haven't used in awhile or at all

Urgh fine. I can't belive that you think that al perks are fine and perfectly blanced but everyone has an opinon I guess.

So that I don't have to write down what's wrong with all of these specifically I'll just name a few perks with usefulness significantly below average that desperately need changes to make the more usefull since they aren't even situational or combo perks and have no real redeeming qualities. Some of them I didn't even see played in my 2,2k hours unless I played them myself for the memes.

For killers - cruel limits, furtive chase, mindbreaker, monstorous shrine, spies (SFTS), overwhelming presence, predator, zanshin tactics

For survivors - Buckle up, Deja vu, No one left behind, this is not happening, up the ante

I could call out more but some of them would be more debatable then these which are extremely rare to find in games (from my experience either never or at least 1 out of 100 games)

Then there are the strong perks that are meta and can be abused in ways that are bad for overall DBD's health like for example Noed or even DS when abused. Both lack proper counterplay when abused and both don't care about notifieing either side that they'll be in play with their possibly game swinging potencial and are rather unfun to get hit by since both feel cheap in certain scenarios.

I could go on for a loooong time about many other perks that could use changes or are problematic in some other way but I feel even this much effort will be wasted on you since based on your previous responses you don't seem to be open to unbiased discussion.

Ds while it can be annoying isn't really nearly as big an issue as it's made out to be. And noed sucks but it only activates at the end and if you've been doing totems it doesn't even happen. My biggest issue will always be bbq, it is a hugely op perk for killers to the point where I won't even run it on principle

  • @SenatorAcadia said:

More experienced players might know why this is a bad idea but it seems to me that in my journey to level 16 as killer I seem to be:

A: Playing a lot of survivors way above my rank (I guess that is match making)

B: Watching everyone wasting time in the exits waiting for me to eventually get there just so they can bounce up and down pointing like idiots until I try to hit them and they run out.

Seems to be that the exit gate is like the paint in basketball. If you are in there for more than 3 seconds (or however long it takes to run across it) then you should get booted back to outside the door, maybe some number of meters outside.

When I play survivor (I got to rank 13 so far) if the door is unlocked I either go back in (if someone is hooked) or run out.

Is there a point reason to hang around? I know that getting run around, hit by people jumping out of lockers, blinded at every palette, and then teased at the end seems like a bad look for the game. No killers means no games and if you are being made to feel like a jerk it seems like a serious flaw. I know EGC was put in because of what Survivors used to do, but can you enforce sportsmanship using code?

I look forward to your thoughts!

So I don't butt dance but I will stick around for a bit and a lot of it is for reasons someone else said. Waiting to make sure everyone gets out, or extra points in the form of boldness for a Chase as you stare at me or healing someone else or whatever. But info agree that the taunting with the pointing and dancing is rude but I don't think there is a need for a penalty to staying in the gate.

Like bt needs to be buffed even further "oh lets make it instead if its within a certain range of the killer and screw over stealth killers and make bt even more of a mustpick" im sorry but bt needs some counter it cant be good in every scenario.

Maybe not, but camping shouldn't be an acceptable way to play, and stealth killers shouldn't be able to exploit those abilities to stop a save, it's also why I think insidious should go away entirely. It is only a camping perk

Lobby times are the same across the board, let's not start spreading a false narrative unless it actually happens.

I can't actually agree with that. Solo queue for survivor or even two man survivor I get in almost immediately. On both Xbox and PC I've waited on average 10 minutes before I can get a killer match and thats just getting a lobby, not even counting getting survivors which usually doesn't take too long

  • @Mister_xD said:

i like their idea of new ruin.

it could be buffed a little, honestly, though i am happy with what they did there.

what i am NOT happy with is that they implemented it now.

they should have waited until they came up with an solution to fix the ridiculous survivor objective time.

but just taking away something mandatory to many many players without compensating for what they took is wrong imo.

My problem is the word mandatory. My issue is the points it takes away from killer cause you can no longer kick gens

  • @BadMrFrosty said:

Shrinking the maps and looking at some window spawns would be a very good start.

Shrinking maps would only benefit the killer. Big maps at least can cause problems for both. Killer has to walk longer and survivors have a harder time finding the generators

  • I think I would remove regardless of hook actions cause if you don't struggle for stage 2 or you attempt on stage 1 that should still impact. But this is definitely has anti tunneling potential cause as a survivor that is annoying no matter how nice it can be as killer to remove someone faster it's still a cheap way to play. It would make that harder potentially. The people who say it would weaken killer too much I don't agree since it changes almost nothing if you aren't camping or tunneling

  • @FriendlyGuy said:

Yes. Solo survivors and killers suffer, because BHVR refuses to buff solos on swf level of information.

Honestly the best buff for solos would just be to make an in game audio chat

  • @Myers_loves_KFC said:

For example, if a killer needs 5 bear trap captures and downs you then motions for you to step on them till its done, will you do it? As killer I sometimes do this for the really bs challenges but of course let them escape if its end game or let them off until I find them again if theres some 3 gens left

If I notice a killer actively trying to farm or do challenges I will often work with them and step on traps and such

  • @humanbeing1704 said:

I feel like getting a 4 man key escape is near impossible in solo

Yeah I've only gotten that one in swf

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/115225/wow-okay-so-the-killer-adept-achievements

The only achievemnt that is too hard is, imo, not an Adept.

Evil Incarnate, Kill All 4 Survivors Using a Tombstone.

That one used to be waaaay easier. Now it's more difficult

Why the hell should a perk have a downside? What's the downside of running Decisive or any of the other myriad of survivor perks?

If you 4k consistently without running Ruin then you're playing against potatoes, even if Ruin lasts 30 seconds, it's a big deal; and with BBQ, you get some free information that's far away from your hook, big whoop, it's helpful but the fact that you think it's a crutch is beyond ridiculous.

I've been rank 1 killer every season I've played and I am saying objectively that you don't know what you're talking about. Against your rank I could probably 4K without any perks, does that mean all perks are crutches now?

Stop using anecdotal examples, it's not a good look.

Decisive strike only works when you have been hooked, and if you have been picked up again shortly after that unhook has happened. You can't use it at all unless you have taken a step down. Same thing with a number of good survivor perks including self care even.

  • Fine, but for all people's complaint about balance, there is none on bbq

  • Yes but lockers aren't in every square inch of the map, and now you have iron maiden since legion to counter that anyway. My point isn't that there is no counterplay, but there isn't much and there is no downside to that perk. You already are getting a leg up with the hook, now you get extra points and free information unless people have been able to find a locker

Probably not intended, but another killer who can do this is plague with corrupt purge. With relatively high ping (i've experienced this above 180ms) a single puke often puts survivors from healthy straight to the dying state. I think it's because due to latency the game registers 2 hits instead of 1.

My bigger issue with plague just tends to be she needs to lose collision while puking, cause she can corner and you're screwed. I'm with others here that assuming huntress has iri

  • I'm sorry the perk that automatically gives you extra points for doing what you're supposed to try to do and automatically let's you see survivors nearly anywhere on the map isn't a crutch? Run rancor, at least then there is a balance if you have to run a "I can see you" perk

Also the fact that you call both of those perks "Crutches" leads me to believe that you can't run a killer, and you are one of those survivors that won't touch a gen until Ruin is destroyed. Nice try though.

I run killer just fine, never rank one by any stretch but not terrible. And I still get 4ks. They are absolutely crutches, just as much as self care. The fact that you cant or won't see that is not really my problem

It's a bad design that survivors get free gen at the start of the game. That's why ruin is so popular, to prevent these free gens

It's not a free gen, it's you making a choice. You can also make the choice to keep pressure on those as well

  • @ApeOfMazor said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/919507#Comment_919507

People who say stuff like this are allowing the game to continue on its poor state. There is no such thing as "pressure" thats just a piece of survivor propaganda so they don't get the slowdown the game really needs. You can chase 1 person at a time. Not using ruin is a handicap.

As someone who plays both and never runs ruin or bbq, you are wrong. Ruin can definitely slow things down but you are reliant on the survivors not finding it. Discordance, overcharge, even pop are better choices

you guys had over 3 years now to figure out how to make the games a bit longer. the community already gave so many input to it but for you it seems to be too hard or do you just dont care? and your band-aid fixes like ruin dont count mate.

Except i never run crutch bbq or crutch ruin and still manage 4ks

  • Then that's where the problem is. If you need to decimate in order to not depip then maybe that needs to be looked at. Conversely red ranks are supposed to mean you're pretty darn good and so are they so maybe you just eat the depip and figure out how to do it better other than running ruin or bbq

  • @Vetrathene said:

Just keep BT as it is but make it work only once per game.

I disagree, if they are going to nerf it to only work for one of the two it better be usable more than once.

As for current bt vs old by I like the multi use against constant campers but it not protecting you as the unhooked means it won't be used except by those going hard for hooks against those campers knowing they may instantly go down

  • As long as these weren't the only things going on it would be fine. While I am definitely more for pve, adding things to the base pvp game that pretty much only benefit the killer in a game already weighed in their favor would tick off a lot of people

Try to disimulate, if you are all P3 Claudettes with flashlights and map offerings dont expect the killer to stay in that lobby for long.

Why? They would complain about survivors doing when they are running BBQ, camping, tunneling etc, so they can suck it up and deal with the swf and get better.

  • @The8thProphet said:

Wow of course. Most the time I play as Freddy, The Spirit, Ghostface, The Doctor ( My Favorites ) I get Gen rushed. Maybe after 1-2 Gens there could be a cool down or harder for other Gens to be found for a short time. I do also agree with Killers that have different advantages against specific groups of survivors and/or maps. Another encouragement for Killers would be more outfits that are “Earnable”. Prestige outfits exclusively for Each individual killer.

I will always be a fan of Dead by Daylight!

If you are getting gen rushed then run overcharge and look around gens a little longer, unless they are at the last gens you would check on your route you should not be able to be completely gen rushed
