Yes because clearly this ONE system that BHVR has written works flawlessly and never fails. Unlike hit boxes, rank reset, purchases, legacy skins, blood points or all the other stuff. But when it comes to the DC ban system? Nope. Thatโs flawless and thereโs NO way it can fail, right?
Idiots...
Yes, your continued attitude here is definitely convincing me that you're an angel who never did wrong.

Boring opens a lot of doors for discussion...what makes dbd fun? How related is power level to enjoyment? These are just two examples of huge doors of discussion that you'd rather dismiss by saying "survivors don't care about any of that" in a biased and derogatory manner. If you truly cared about discussion, perhaps you would be more open minded?
If you want to discuss it, address the question you initially quoted.
Like I said, I'm not taking your dumb survivor bait. You're just clicking a flashlight at me right now from behind a pallet.

Something that is "boring" is something that simplifies "fun" game elements or removes "interaction". Chase interaction is a core element of dbd, what do you have against it?
Nice try, but I'm not taking your bait. No one said anything about "having something against it".
-
Granted, I do think that there are more interesting ways to keep a survivor from holding the game hostage without essentially handing them a free win to prevent them from being #########, but hey, this is what we've got.
That's really my only objection to the hatch. I don't really care that they escape, but you've essentially got a situation where the concern is a survivor holding the game hostage indefinitely and rather than punish the behavior, we give them a free out instead. It's like telling Killers they can't bodyblock, so to keep them from doing it we just kill any survivor that walks into a blockable spot. ๐
In essence, you're harming the victim of bad behavior in the hopes that the perpetrators are satisfied and choose not to engage in that behavior in the future.
It'd be more fun if the aura of the last survivor became visible after X amount of time without doing an objective or being within the killers terror radius. I guess a blendette would just tap a gen while sitting in a bush on Yamaoka, though.
-
I'm still not even sure I get the point of breakable walls.
Either a loop is advantageous to the killer with the wall up, so why break it OR the loop is just ok without the wall there, meaning it'd have to be completely bonkers with it there, so you have to break it?
Or, third option I guess, it's just irrelevant and gets ignored most of the time.

If you close the hatch before they find it they can still open it again if they have a key. I've had a game where it's 2 survivors left. I was chasing one and he found the hatch(closed) He opened it with a key and escaped. I closed it, find the 2nd survivor and they reopened it with another key.
Yooooo, ok, that's actually hilarious.
Granted, you took two keys out of the world that game. So hey, not such a bad tradeoff.

Because I can't control Oni for #########.
Because I can't control Billy for #########.
Because I can't blink on Nurse for #########.
Because I can't hear people on Spirit for #########.
Yeah, playing any of those can make me feel pretty dumb.
-
1) It's a mechanism to keep the game from going to infinity time.
2) It's not necessarily "free", they still have to beat you to it. The killer does have some advantage here, since you move faster and don't need to sneak around. Of course, they can always find it earlier and just be camping it, but then they're handing you a much easier win in the rest of the game, so eh.

Working with the killer is a bannable offence under game rules for both parties.
Exactly how do you determine that the killer is "working with" someone, though?
I mean, maybe it's fairly blatant in some outlier case, but like I said - there's no rule stating that a killer has to hit this person at this time, or that person at another time. Hell, giving a survivor a hatch is by definition "working with them" - especially if you choose who to give the hatch to based on some criteria - but no one hands out bans for it.
Like I said, it very likely all falls under, "Technically bad, but no one is getting in trouble for it outside of extreme griefing scenarios."
-
1) Why would the killer be eligible for a ban here? They can choose who to hit and not to hit, there's no rule stating that you MUST do any certain thing as long as you're not holding the game hostage.
2) The survivor may be eligible for a ban, but honestly that would seem to open the door for banning a LOT of behaviors. Did they run that killer to you intentionally? Did they try to open that locker intentionally? Did they blow that skill check intentionally? Did they give up on the hook intentionally?
This probably falls under, "Technically bad, but no one is going to do anything if it's one time."

Never? I have seen tons of Freddys doing that. Instead of breaking a Pallet, they run around and spam Snares. Very entertaining and engaging gameplay.
So what IS "engaging gameplay" to you?
Most chases consist of the survivor running in circles while the killer tries to M1 them anyway. Yet any deviation from this gets called "boring" or "broken". (Both of which mean the same thing, we all know what "boring" is code for.)
I really don't know what people want. It feels like everyone just wants the game to be played to the theme of Benny Hill, where the killer runs in a single circle for five minutes and then survivors run out the door.

Maybe, but "I got banned for no reason, I've never done anything wrong ever!!" posts are pretty common in most any game. The natural response is generally skepticism.

Have to admit, I can get pretty pissed when I lose, especially against something that feels "unfair" to me like a mori (I recently "lost" a game because of a kobe, to say I was dissapointed would be an understatement).
But I don't get the "trying as hard as you can" - thing, wouldn't it mean, that you should only play the top tier killers with good perks and addons either and vise versa on survivor?
Like DS encouraging people to do gens right in the killers face?
If a strategy works, it works. If I don't like it, it's incumbent upon me to find a way to beat it, not try to have it nerfed or changed. (Unless I believe it to be truly destructive to the game.)
As I mentioned before, there are some gameplay effects that I don't really like, and the concept of some perks allowing survivors to not fear a killer at all is indeed one of them. But that's a personal issue, not a balance issue.
-
@SunaIIanu said:

I guess we disagree fundamently then. Might be the old discussion between casuals and tryhards, but I think that strong and annoying things like moris and keys (and perks like OoO and DS especially in SWF) should be changed, because they make it really likely that only one side is going to have fun in that match.
Perhaps.
I don't mind losing, and I don't mind my opponents trying as hard as possible. It's really only fun when everyone does that, in my opinion. (Barring the occasional, "I'm just doing a challenge on a killer I don't play, so I'll goof off." game.
That said, I do have specific objections to certain perks, but not really balance issues. More gameplay issues and how they encourage certain types of play that seem to conflict with developer intent.
-
Naw. I feel like that'd just be awful for survivors without adding extra gens, which would be kinda annoying for killers.
-
@DelsKibara said:
I hope not, the last thing I want is to see a Killer getting nerfed because most people find them more "Boring" than "Unbalanced.
I'm pretty sure that "boring" is just the new code for "OP plz nerf" anyway. It's just a way to say it that kinda skirts around the issue and asks for changes but doesn't leave any doors open for discussion.

Yeah, I love being hook farmed because someone wants to "do something engaging and exciting".
Exactly.
I feel like a massive amount of issues that people on both sides have with the overall gameplay flow are caused by survivors that are massively thirsty for those unhook points, teammates be damned.
Hell, at least the ones bringing BT are trying to give you a break. Most of the time when I see it they're not even running BT. Just raw unhook and zoom away.
I actually gave a survivor the hatch the other day because at one point in the game they were on hook, I was in a chase with a Dwight, and he just ran straight to the hook during the chase and pulled them off. No BT, no nothing. Told them in chat after that I couldn't kill them after Dwight did them like that. ๐

I mean, if I could know when I was playing against a SWF group I'd try and bring a Mori every time. That at least brings the odds closer to even.
On Steam you can check, at least. Not sure about consoles and the like.
That said, I still don't bring a Mori. Not out of any sense of "fairness", just because I'm not a big fan of them.

By that logic keys and sweaty 4-man swfs with all the meta perks are fine too:
"You win some, you lose some, just queue up again and don't complain."
By that logic everything is fine, how op or annoying it might be, as long as you don't encounter it every match.
It IS fine. Why would it NOT be fine for groups to try as hard as they can?
So I get my ass kicked now and again. It's not a big deal, as long as people aren't jerks about it.

And dont defend them with, "Well, they just went for the injured person."

As SOON as I was unhooked, I was dead.

I keep trying because the concept is cool, but holy hell. Cannot kill anyone for the life of me.

If you're repeatedly having this experiences over this weekend I recommend taking a break for a couple days. Some days you just run into the most toxic of people game after game meanwhile sometimes you run into the most chill and kind people all day. When you have those really nasty day(s) I find taking a break for a bit helps a lot. Trust me even though it seems like it sometimes not everyone is a total douche bag.
As for the streamer part I recommend observing their attitude for a couple minutes before commenting. If they're constantly complaining, being a douche, throwing insults and overall acting unlikable then I recommend just not saying anything and moving on.
That's one of those things I always want to believe, but experience constantly overrides it. Guy told me to kill myself earlier because he depipped, real friendly. ๐
Not to mention people that like to pretend as if it doesn't happen or something. Those guys are nice, too.

I rarely get survivors like this at red ranks; maybe itโs because of your reigon & platform you apparently get them โevery match?
I dunno. Honestly, I was pretty chill about it all until this weekend. Then it just never stopped, until I finally just decided that everyone is a jerk and I automatically dislike anyone in-game.
Shouldn't let it get to me? Probably. Doesn't really matter, I can't remember the last time I enjoyed a game as killer anyway. It's either I steamroll a bunch of pugs into a 4k and get yelled at, or get steamrolled by red rank SWF's into a 0k and get yelled at.
I think the last straw was a streamer in a 4-man group when I was just trying Oni out for the first time. Figured I'd say hi in their stream, and sure enough his whole team was on about, "Haha look at this ######### noob, we can just run circles around him blinding him, this guy should uninstall, lololol lets just piss him off." and when I commented that I didn't think that was really necessary he says, "Yeah it is, man, this is DbD, this is how we act here."
So yeah, I guess I let em break me. I'm pretty done with it all.

I don't do any of that stuff though. I go in, do gens, beak bones and save teammates, then I get out of there. I try to avoid any interaction with the killer as possible, so it frustrates me when I get hooked and I'm being abused. Now, if I get rescued and am able to escape the trial, then yeah I'm T-bagging by butt off as a f you. But I play the right way and I don't think it's right to be abused because of it.

Yeah, because survivors would never claim that killers doing their job is toxic and ruins their fun.

Because survivors are literally Jason Voorhees level durability and the killers - who can't even take a little flashlight - are desperately trying to find a way to kill the four monsters plaguing him.

Survivors talking about balance: "If I didn't win, it's not fair whatsoever."

You totally missed out! You should have documented how many out of those 100 games your team mates were the cause of your death (directly, as in farming you off hook in front of the killer.)
I'd be really curious as to a rough estimate of how often solo survivors are getting screwed by team mates that are trying to be more lethal than the killer itself...
Hell, I'm almost convinced that my gameplay isn't nearly as much of a factor in game outcomes as survivor greed and screwups.
Had a game earlier with Wraith where I got a 2k. I never decloaked the entire match. Think about that one.

What does that mean, exactly? How much of an advantage is it?
"Eh, we're not worried about it." isn't exactly saying, "Nah, no advantage."
