The best is when I put a survivor into the dying state and they fly partway across the map like they had some ragdoll physics. Makes picking them up a bit of a pain, I'll say.

Quick and Quiet never reduced locker or window actions, it reduced the sound only. The only real strength was that there was no cooldown on it, meaning you could effectively fast vault everything untill the killer got in a 8-ish meter region of you. Nowadays there is a 100% sound reduction no matter how far the killer is(which is stronger than the old one in close combat), but you can only use it every 20 seconds(which forces people to slow down a little bit if Q&Q isnt up).
I feel like QQ is always up for some survivors. ๐

You clearly don't play survivor if you think this is what is happening. ๐
It....actually really does happen, and often even without BT. ๐คฃ
Some people are MAD thirsty for those unhook points. It's actually one of the biggest factors in some of my games as killer.
-
If you actually complain about "tunneling" or "gen rushing" you need to look at your play and find the holes.
Don't mean to be rude, but that's just how it is.

I believe it's a "video game".
-
The hitbox of survivors is a "pill". A large, capsule-shaped area that surrounds the entire survivor body.
I know the developers have said that it's not, but it feels like it's MUCH bigger than the visual model of the survivor. Or at least the collision area is, as any survivor that has tried to walk past another survivor in a gap that appears wide enough for three people can tell you.

No, it's not said because it's "trendy." It's because it's true, and even the devs have said the only thing it represents is how much playtime somebody has put in. If somebody wants to do something about rank disparity, they can at least do themselves a favor and try to get up to purple ranks or whatever to see for themselves that it doesn't make a difference.
Obviously if you're a new killer going against red ranks you'll be destroyed, but that's how it goes. If you're bad, and the other players are good, you're going to not do well. That's why the solution is to get better. Again, I'm not saying that it's a perfect system, but higher rank does not automatically equal skillful player, so to try to use that to justify somebody having an "unfair match" is the silly thing. Not the matchmaking or ranks.
Except it's simply not true.
Yes, you can have "smurf" type people at lower ranks, and you can have people not having a good game at a red rank. That's true for every game.
But to claim that there's just no average difference between a red rank and a rank 20 because, "It's just how long you play" is absurd. There's absolutely going to be a significant difference in consistency of good play.
Is the ranking system particularly accurate? Not really. But if someone can't play well enough to pip their way out of rank 15, they're sure as hell not "Just as good as a rank 1 because rank means nothing".
-
Legion is pretty rockin'.
-
Because matchmaking is non-existent, so players with vastly different goals and playstyles are forced together.
So - to use StarCraft as an analogy - all of the, "No rush 15 min, plz, have fun!" players are matched up against the 6-pool aggressive killers.
The result being that some players get upset and start calling everything unfair, insisting that other players should never use them, that trying too hard is a bad thing, and so on.

Your logic went wrong the moment you called somebody "entitled" for wanting something. Much overused word.
Not "taking a side" here because I couldn't care less about the bonus BP topic. Just kinda cringe when people overused that "entitled" word.
"Don't use a word I don't approve of in your posts, or else I'll tell you about how I don't like it." really might be the absolute most pointless, stupid, childish type of post that's humanly possible on a forum.
-
@Huff said:

No, I'm not trying to say that people don't care about it altogether. I'm saying that it's not really impactful to the game, so a lot of complaints about the matchmaking/rank right now are just kind of... pointless I guess?
Rank absolutely is impactful.
I know it's trendy for people on the forums to say, "Haha, rank 1 is the same as rank 20, no difference, nothing to see here." but anyone who actually plays the game knows that it's bull. Rank might not mean much when looking at smaller differences, but the huge gaps we see in matchmaking absolutely do make a difference.
If you're a new killer going again red ranks, you're going to get absolutely destroyed. Not only that, the red ranks will likely be penalized as well.
It's silly. Matchmaking exists in PvP games for a reason.
-
It's because they know it's an advantage and don't want to admit to using it. (Hell, I've had people on this very forum say stuff like, "Oh, uh, yeah, I play with my friends but uh, you know, we don't like talk or coordinate or anything, naw, nothing like that, we just...uh...you know...hang out and stuff...")
It's a silly reason, because especially on Steam it's not hard to tell.
-
The thing about people saying "X is good" or "X is bad" is that they're usually referring to a scale that basically goes from 0 to 1.
If something isn't 1 then it's 0.
It's hard to take community views at face value without some thought and experience of ones' own.
-
Yes, it's extremely silly that if your team does an excellent job avoiding the killers notice, do generators, and escape you actually are punished by the game.
Likewise, if you just mindgame the hell out of some survivors and steamroll them, you get punished.
The worst part is that everyone in the match gets punished. The "winners" AND the "losers" will get screwed over.
You sure don't see that in any other game. "Oh, you got a perfect against an opponent that's the same rank as you in Street Fighter? Haha, you get a derank for that, sucker. Let them hit you next time."
-
I thought this thread title was, "Clown belly needs a buff."
-
I'd say something like...
Prestige resets character level to 1, removes everything like it does now, but doesn't have a counter on the character.
Each Prestige level instead increases Devotion by 1.
Each Devotion level increases BP gains by X%. (1%? I dunno. Whatever figure is balanced.)
-
I mean, you had ONE high rank person on the other team. And one survivor can't really carry three potatoes.
Rank doesn't mean everything, but this is a piss-poor example. I've had better examples, and my playtime is still under 100h.

Thats why I said within limitation of dbd. Everything you named is pretty broken.
If he can basic attack a pallet he would have to be the slowest killer
Built in mori could work but only if it was a built in devour. Still pretty broken
Whispers we have that in the form of a perk
You can't make a good Jason in dbd and that is the point I'm trying to make. He is great in f13 but none of that works here without dumping all over the survivors.
@Bovinity please don't quote me again if you choose to be illiterate and not read the post lm replying to, as the person I replied to said the frame, the weapon, the strength etc thats all of my time you will get for that.
Again trapper is as CLOSE to Jason as it gets without screwing him up.
Wow, such edge, much r/iamverysmart
The fact is that you're making some kind of comparison between Trapper and Jason just because of being big guys in masks. It's a silly thing to say when that's an incredibly shallow similarity in the world of horror and there's no reason that they can't be worlds apart in terms of abilities and gameplay. (If anything, it'd be Myers that would have the most apparent similarities in likely gameplay and kits.)
Hell, the existing killers already show that appearance doesn't have to translate to gameplay.
And yes, I know you're about to hit reply and say, "Oh, you like Jason? Name every possible well-designed ability he could have." as if my inability to live up to your assigned role of armchair game designer somehow proves your point.

I mean you can sit and tell me they are different all day long but in the end even in your post the only thing different is the powers. So going off your post 90% of trapper is already jason.
So please again enlighten me. Other then a built in mori, with dbd limits In mind what could Jason's powers be to make him a fun killer and diverse from trapper.
I'll wait.
Why do you think that Trapper is anything like Jason in the first place other than "Look, a mask!!"
Wow, we just summed up like 85% of horror villains.

Republicans. ๐

Survivors: "Killers need to sweat less and just have fun and let everyone get stuff done."
Also Survivors: "NOT LIKE THAT!"
-
My wife can't even play killers because I guess she gets some motion sickness or something.
It's not even the first person view, either. Because she normally loves FPS games. There's just something about the narrow FOV and movement I guess.
-
This is exactly why I run Discordance on Legion. If they try doing a gen together, they're in for some stabby stabby fun times together.
That said, Discordance doesn't always give a ton of value. But when it does, it's exactly where you needed it.
As for this specific situation...I feel like it's a huge misplay for survivors to blow everything on the first gen. (Especially when it's an out of the way one, like on a second floor on some maps.) Those first gens are the easiest by far, why try hard on those and then just get stuck on the last couple?

"It's not skipping hooks, it's a catch up mechanic. Last game I just played a Legion had 1 hook with 1 gen left. Theat person then got Mori'd, and what do you know, they ended with a 3K. Not possibnle without Mori."
That's precisely why moris aren't okay. The Legion literally got dominated for almost the entirety of the game, and they still won because of an offering. It wasn't the killer who earned the win, it was the offering that won the game
I mean, you can argue that about basically every perk, addon, or (some) offerings. Especially "second chance" ones.
If a Mori skips a hook, second chance perks do too. ๐
-
That's....actually hilarious. I hadn't thought of this. ๐
-
If you want to slow games down, run slowdown perks and pressure survivors effectively.
I don't have a strong opinion either way about Mori's, but I never use them.
-
Playing Legion on Hawkins.
Downed a Laurie, hooked her, some dunce ran in for the instant unhook without BT, downed her again, and she DC'd about a second later.
Missed DS skill check? Just mad about the point-thirsty unhooker? I dunno.
-
I dunno, I never run NOED just because I don't really like being down a perk all game just to MAYBE salvage something at the endgame.
-
Doctor isn't bad because of any power, he's bad because of the constant annoyances.
It's a classic example of something in a game that's just not enjoyable to deal with, regardless of if you win or lose. (And that's me saying that as a killer main.)
-
I used to dodge lobbies when it was a 4-man SWF because I was new and it kinda tilted me to keep getting these 4-man red rank SWF groups at Rank 17 that made sure I knew how badly I did in chat.
At some point I stopped caring as much. I think part of it was just improving as a player so I can actually stand up to some of those teams.

No, I don't take down notes about what happens every single trial, nor do I record them all and keep the videos. Do you?
"Oh, killers are nicer? Name every survivor that has ever escaped."
-
In before, "Delete him hurrhurr"
Edit: Wow, I was too late.
-
In general, everything seems just fine.
It is true that - by the numbers - "optimal survivor" play should be technically unbeatable, but how often does that actually happen? I sure as heck never see it.
-
Any Mori quest. I don't really like using them, plus it's usually for a killer that I don't actually have any Mori's on and don't care to spend BP on at this time.
That and anything Nurse related.

Ah, yes, I can definitely remember when survivors all huddled around the hook for me to kill them after I had a ######### game where they completely dominated...
Oh, no, wait, that literally never happened, to anyone, ever.
Exactly.
So many threads get started here that amount to, "Why don't killers give us free escapes? Why not give me hatch? Why do they make us depip? How come you kill us? That's not fun. Please just be less of a sweaty try-hard nerd and let us have some fun."
But damn, if I fail at my job, it's 5-gens in 6.2 seconds and a bunch of survivors in the exit gate clicking flashlights and teabagging.
Yeah, the day survivors start giving out free kills when the killer has a bad game is the day I'll start caring about how hard I went on them.
-
Wow, so it's already a, "You completely failed, but here's an escape anyway." mechanic, and you want it to be even easier? ๐ค
Also, if you're just standing out in the open camping the hatch like a dunce while the killer hooks someone, of course they're going to beeline right to the hatch. Because you're there right out in the open. Because they very likely are running BBQ. They don't have any indication of where the hatch is beforehand - unless you literally tell them.
At least put SOME effort into your free escape. Hide in a locker, don't stand RIGHT by the hatch the entire time. Do something. Jeez.
-
"Hey jerks, why are you jerks?"
Yeah, that question has been asked every day in every part of the world. No one ever really answers it. ๐

Yeah the amount of cfying in this game is crazy, ive seen it from killers too just seems substantially less
The good news is that salt is generally just a compliment in the form of a complaint.
It's the same in fighting games. Win a game and your opponent will occasionally get mad because, "You just keep blocking everything, scrub!!!", "That combo is BS, you noob!", "You only won because you anti-air so much!!" which, you know, are all pretty nice compliments. ๐
-
I don't know if DBD uses the same hitboxes for collision, but if you've ever tried to get through a space side by side with another survivor, that'll show you the width of those boxes real fast.
One foot to your right, one foot to their left, and a foot between you and neither of you will be able to squeeze through. ๐

Another good one, the ole "why did you tunnel me" when I very obviously didnt.
"Why'd you tunnel two people?!" ๐คฃ
People will cry about everything, jeez.
Reminds me of a game I had with Legion where it was a 4-man SWF and they use Shroud AND they refused to ever separate. Constant healing and instant unhooks. So every damn Frenzy was 4 wounds easily. They didn't even get one generator done.
Naturally, after the game they complained I was tunneling someone. ๐
-
Lets see, the build to "guarantee" kills?
I think the perks to choose for that would be, "Get Good", "Learn to Play", "Strategy" and "Execution".
That build will get you pretty far, I think. Good luck!

I really wish you'd rephrase this...
You use it because it's one of the only Perks that allows you to have a chance of winning after you've, for all intents and purposes, already lost.
I'm pretty sure SWF are less common than dead zones and proxy camping (at least in my region and/or on my platform). Are you really taking the time to check profiles and friend lists? After all, that is how you confirm a SWF exists.
You haven't "lost" as a killer until people are out. Gens being done is NOT the end of the game.
Also kinda ironic, since it's survivors that get the, "Ok, you failed everything, here's an escape anyway." mechanic.
-
Yeah, I really wish there was something else going on with the traps rather than just RNG and, "Haha, you died because it wasn't any of THOSE boxes!" or "Haha, Pig lost all their masks for nothing!"
It'd be neat if there were some really Saw-themed choice to make with regards to removing it. Like being able to take one health state from a nearby survivor to immediately remove the mask. (Yes, I know that would be TERRIBLE and never actually happen! :D )
-
I can't tell you 100% certain either way.
All I can say is that phrases like "marked the world of horror since its inception" aren't really quantifiable things. For all we know, someone from BHVR really loves Troll 2 and thinks highly of it's historical value.
So no, I don't think phrases like that absolutely rule out any particular work. Hell, chances are that whatever the actual reveal is, people are going to say, "THAT? That's not a big classic!"
-
Gen speeds are fine.
I would remind panicking killers that one gen doesn't open the gates. Nor does two, or three, or four. And it just gets increasingly difficult for the survivors as fewer and fewer generators are up for you to patrol.

I think we all know what it means. Don't try to get technical with me, we all know.
I'm sure you do know what it means. Never suggested you didn't.
The point is that you can't exclude a possibility simply because, "They said classic and I don't think that's classic enough." because of how subjective it is.
