lol Killer main here but okay.
Place me where you want to place me, even as a killer I play by hidden rules because I'd rather leave with 32k Bloodpoints than a pathetic 10, or 11k for playing desperately.
"Hey guys, I got a lot of BP as killer by following the *hidden rules*, look at me!" 🤣
Seriously, you're a riot. I bet all the other killers are wondering, "Gosh, MegMain, how do I get BP as a killer?! Usually killers don't get any! This is a mystery to us all, please tell us your ways."

You're not funny. And it's clear there are hidden rules because everyone is complaining that DS doesn't state it's an "Anti Tunnel" perk and now everyone is complaining and @Devs so they can find an answer to this, literally only to tell them "I don't tunnel and I still get hit with DS."
Look, I can have another go at this, I filled that Anti-DS page very easily, all I have to do is grab a Monster and I can do a power point presentation destroying every single Anti-DS argument there is.
I'm not even talking about DS, so you can guzzle all the Monsters you want.
Your nonsense about "hidden rules" is the absolute pinnacle of the Survivor Rulebook nonsense, though.

You're right, but when there are specific perks that halt hooking, that ease tunneling and ease camping then you know there are hidden rules as well. These perks were made to give both sides a chance to continue their objective and not dull the game down and make it so linear.
Corrupt Intervention, NOED, BT, DS etc.
"Hidden rules"
This guy seriously just said there are "hidden rules". 🤣
The existence of perks that counter X in no way suggest any "hidden rule" about the nature of X.
Hey guys, you can buy a helmet in CS:GO, there must be a "hidden rule" against headshotting people. 🤣

..Actually, yes..Kind of It takes 80 seconds to solo a generator without perks.
It takes 120 seconds to die on the hook, from first hook, if you struggle.
If all 3 remaining Survivors solo gens while the Killer camps, that's 3/5 Generators done. And that's not counting the time it took to chase someone, down them, and carry them to a hook, which I'd estimate adds another 40-ish seconds.
Meaning, in the space of ONE chase-hook-death, it takes 160 seconds for one person to die.
That's enough time for everyone to do TWO generators each, solo & without perks, for 6/5 generators done.
Ok, but what if I'm thirsty for those unhook points and hide 2.5 feet away from the hook for the duration of the sacrifice?
The killer is preventing me from playing MY WAY!
-
I think my only issue with Legion is when survivors see it's you and they just split pressure gens. (Or they just do that anyway because it works.)
At that point I sometimes feel like I might as well not even have a power. I almost feel like some small change like would make a big difference, something like, "When using Feral Frenzy, striking a survivor when no survivors are within Killer Instinct range immediately ends Feral Frenzy. Ending Feral Frenzy in this manner reduces the cooldown stun by [Percentage]."
Although that might end up being too good.

Guess I'm a fatty tunneler when all 4 survivors bring DS and I'm killing people too fast and end up eating one of the DS.
Guess I better just learn to play better, right?
Honestly, it's still fine in that situation. You're clearly running them over, and they're spending several perk slots just to stall you running them over a little.
It's when survivors use it to become essentially invulnerable for extended periods of time, abusing it accordingly. Rather than, "I have DS, leave me alone!" it becomes, "Haha, I have DS, let me block you, bait you, unhook people in your face with BT, and whatever else. Can't touch me!"
Normally even that would be fine, but when it's an organized group, it starts to feel like the killer is being neutered by all the various invulnerable effects. The level of disrespect they can show to the killer in those situations is just amazing.

Dude, I play more survivor (rank 4) than killer (rank 12) and it's not an issue. Face camping is punished by you doing work instead of trying to make a save to spite the killer. DONT FEED THE FACE CAMPERS.
Ding ding ding, winner!
-
IF it's actually true that it's impossible, then the question is whether or not it's an intended inconsistency as a result of different killer sizes, or unintended and bugged.
Simple enough. Bellyaching about it won't do any good.
-
An instant-down from range DOES seem pretty damn good. Granted, I don't play Huntress, so I've never had the pleasure.
That said - while addon synergy is fun - it probably shouldn't be able to be paired with another addon to negate the intended downside of such a strong effect.

My god, you really are just shameless with your bias, aren't you?
-
It's fun to watch people who clearly have no technical knowledge try to do some deep analysis of events in the game.
"Some killer hit me when it didn't look like they were close to me, it must be that box of hit thing I heard about!! Never mind that it's actually not really a consistent thing, so it wouldn't make a lot of sense to blame it on an otherwise typically static element of each world object when a variable element like latency exists. No, it must be those damn boxes of hits! Those boxes are just full of hits and those killers get several boxes! Devs, nerf the boxes of the hits!"
-
I think you'll get mostly negative comments about both killers here. 😀
That said, I really enjoy Legion, but that's mostly because I enjoy speed. (Which is why I'll probably try Oni next, I guess?) Not sure Legion really has a lot of great addon synergy at this time, though.

Yeah, matchmaking has been...rough to say the least lately.
As a Killer, I keep getting put in against teams of barely sentient potatoes that managed to turn a video game system on and start a game of DBD. As frustrating as getting a SWAT SWF Team to go against, it isn't exactly fun to have a group of survivors clearly have no idea what they're doing to play against either. I have had so many games lately where I just absolutely slaughter the survivors with no real effort on my part. It's gotten to the point where I am pretty routinely smacking survivors and then breaking off the chase myself just to give them a chance to not get murdered.
As a solo survivor, it's amazing to be on those teams now and wonder "Wow...was I really THIS bad at some point?". On the plus side sometimes it isn't so bad for me as I also seem to be put with new killers too and can (relatively) easily dodge and juke them. As long as I can manage to not get myself caught, my potato teammates are usually not a big deal for me but you are super fuqed if the killer does manage to catch you as the potato is the most timid and afraid creature and will come nowhere near the hook if there is a possible chance that the killer might at some point be within 500 meters of the hook you are stuck on...
That has been my complaint of late.
As killer, it's either I totally steamroll a team of obvious pugs who aren't coordinating at all, or I get totally steamrolled by SWF Team 6.
The whole "2k average" thing must come from the fact that everyone always gets 4k or 0k. 😂

Great post!
My biggest problem is that some things in this game are lowrisk and high reward. That's the stuff, that needs to be fixed.
And what I think is, that we don't only have the survivor and killer side, but there is also a "Casual vs competitive" mentality. If casuals play with and against competitive players, it will create another "Us vs them" mentality.
It's fine to use the tools which are given to you, just don't be a toxic dipshit and additionally don't expect that the other side will not fight back.
And many stuff what is considered OP is just OP, because people refuse to adapt. A while ago someone told me that nurse is a skillless killer. This just baffles me, how some people are losing their #########, because they have to step out of their comfort zone and play different.
If I have bad rounds, I try to analyze it, while getting my focus back and ask myself, what could I have done better? Where did I make a boo boo which cost me the game? Would I have done the same thing If I would be on the other side? (The answer is most of the time yes)
"Casual vs Competitive" is definitely why we get so many fights between some killers and some survivors. There's a disparity in the goals and gameplay intent - some people just want to run around dark maps gesturing and teabagging, others want to improve and play well - and it leads to casual survivors throwing their rulebook at killers who are trying to play well.
You see it in every game, it's just that in most games the two player types end up separated by things like in-game rank or social circle. Not so in DbD.

It was very much safe, the killer was well enough away before a unhook was even made. 2 others survivors were also around me trying to bait the killer into hitting them. But nope the killer went straight after me.
You can argue ‘just go to a pallet’ that’s all well and good if a pallet is near the hook....
What do you want? The killer to just tip their hat to you and say, "JOLLY GOOD SIR, ON YOUR WAY!"
Well, really what you want is for them to go after someone else because you just don't want to die. You'd rather someone else died. So you wrap up your frustration in somehow blaming the killer for not following your imaginary rules that you set for them.
People like you seriously make games less enjoyable. Constantly sitting there telling everyone else to play by this imaginary rule and that imaginary rule. Don't rush in Starcraft! Don't throw in fighting games! Let me take my move back in chess! Don't use a sniper rifle in FPS games! Don't buy Boardwalk!
You're like that kid that everyone else eventually just gets tired of playing anything with, because you can't just take a loss and move on or improve, so instead you blame everyone else and the game.

So? My role as a Killer is not to prove how skilled I am by letting you get away so I can lose.
My role, as Killer is to KILL YOU. My god, why do people think there's some sort of honor code that Killer's HAVE to follow? And again; I see no one claiming Survivors have to give Killer's a chance to win. It's always how KILLERS need to not 'play unfairly' and 'don't be cheap' and 'Don't use OP perks.'
Survivors? Survivors are allowed to use anything and everything to win. Only Killers need to play honorably, according to these forums.
Survivors: Please be a nice killer and abide by this strict code of honor so we survivors have a good time.

To be honest, the entire basis of this thread right now is just you complaining.
I mean, I wouldn't mind some discussion, but it's literally just you saying, "I didn't get to play at all" and "No fault of my own" and "Killers are playing cheap".
If you want to describe some interaction in the game that you feel is incongruent with the design intent or creates a situation with a significant enough imbalance that it inhibits the play of the game, then be my guest. Of course, you have issue with Killers winning by 'playing cheap'. That's reasonable..
..Except it's not. The problem is; 'playing cheap' varies from Survivor to Survivor.
To you, getting hit right after an unhooking is 'playing cheap'.
To someone else, getting hit within 30 seconds of being unhooked, even if the Killer just randomly found you, is 'playing cheap'.
To another, a Killer hitting them after being unhooked is ''playing cheap', even if they stood under the hook and healed themselves. Because being hit before they DECIDE move is 'playing cheap'.
Do you GET what I'm saying? YOU Don't get to make the rules. YOU don't get to decide what 'playing cheap' is, because everyone sees it differently.
The Killer's goal is. To. Kill. You. As long as they are not abusing bugs, glitches, or cheats, it is NOT 'playing cheap'.
They don't HAVE to let you run away, just because you'll be sad that you got eliminated. Again; do you walk away from gens for 30 seconds after completing one? Because the Killer will be sad if THEY lose. They may even find genrushing to be 'playing cheap'.
But of course, only Killers have to follow some made up rules about 'playing cheap' to make Survivors happy, right? Survivors can genrush, camp infinite loops (when they were a bigger problem), abuse god pallets (when they were a bigger problem), and deserve free unhooks because 'tunneling is 'playing cheap''.
And if we don't follow these made up rules, then we get people who disconnect and fling insults in the endgame chat, and we get told we 'don't deserve a 2/3/4k' because it's the KILLER'S fault they did not know what THIS Survivor felt was 'playing cheap'.
The Killer's role is to WIN. Just like Survivors. We don't have to let you run away, just because you were already hit once. You're arguing you're entitled to be ignored, even if you're the smarter target, because 'tunneling is 'playing cheap''.
Yep.
And for the record, I say the same thing to killers who complain about "genrushing". (I just did in another thread, in fact!)
Complaining that your opponent is trying to accomplish their objective is ridiculous. If you leave your queen hanging in Chess, I'm capturing it, no matter how much you call it cheap. If you double peek a corner I'm watching in CS:GO, you're getting sniped, no matter how much you call it cheap. If you never block in a fighting game, I'm going to blow you up with the same meaties every time, no matter how much you call it cheap.
Stop complaining that your opponent is playing the game and improve instead.

You are describing a scenario that is not tunneling. If someone unhooks you and you get healed up and found again, you were not tunneled. All this tells me is that you, yourself, don't understand what tunneling is. LOL
Also, you will always eventually lose a chase, because you designed to lose chases, unless you're playing against someone with less skill than you.
No one really understands "tunneling" because - like I said - it's literally just a fantasy made up by survivors who played poorly and are mad they got killed.
Play better and you'll miraculously notice that you're getting "tunneled" less. It's that simple. Pretty much every survivor that has ever accused me of tunneling was making some glaring mistake constantly that was the reason I could find/catch them over and over in the first place.

As long as it's an intentional hole and not some sort of error in the geometry that lets you chuck through solid walls or something. The holes aren't there accidentally.

Gate Timer? I'm confused by what OP means.
Are they talking about how survivors can 99% a gate and delay the EGC until they are ready to escape? or how long it takes to open a gate?
Do gate's automatically open now after a certain period of time has passed after they've been powered, and this is something I've overlooked in the patch notes (honestly not a bad idea for speeding up the end game)?
Can anyone enlighten me on this?
I assumed they meant the EGC and just worded it awkwardly, but maybe not.

I’m not talking about dominating, I’m talking returning to the hook to down the same person and hook them again
Then talk to the teammate who unhooked them when it wasn't safe, or the player themselves for not getting out of the area in a timely or safe fashion.
Of all the people in that equation, the one least at fault is the killer. Downing survivors and hooking them is their primary role.
-
"Little to no fault of their own"
So the game starts...you fail to stay reasonably hidden...killer finds you...you lose the chase...killer hits you...you get a head start...you lose the chase again...killer hits you...you get carried to a hook.
Someone unhooks you!
You fail to stay reasonably hidden...killer finds you...you lose the chase...killer hits you...you get a head start...you lose the chase again...killer hits you...you get carried to a hook.
Someone unhooks you!
You fail to stay reasonably hidden...killer finds you...you lose the chase...killer hits you...you get a head start...you lose the chase again...killer hits you...you get carried to a hook.
Yes, clearly the survivor had no control over this situation and could do nothing. Nothing at all. Impossible to do anything. Couldn't even play the game. Clearly not their fault or the fault of their teammates. Nope, it's that killer just ruining their experience and not letting them play.
-
On the other end of it, as a killer I regularly down someone with a hit, go to pick them up, and suddenly they're 10 feet away.
Latency causes the weirdest stuff sometimes.

You missed the point completely.
My point is that my goal, as Killer, IS TO KILL SURVIVORS.
It's not my goal to pat them on the head and say 'I already stabbed you once, now go run along while I chase your friend!'
Do you log into Overwatch and tell Widowmaker players 'You already sniped me once! So now you can't shoot me while I claim the objective! That's tunneling!'
My goal is to win. If I can win faster by attacking the wounded guy, it's NOT 'tunneling', it's NOT 'being toxic', and it's NOT 'unfair'.
You'd laugh me off the forums if I said 'It's unfair that Survivors can genrush! They should have to walk around for 30 seconds after completing a generator! They're tunneling gens if they don't!'
But of course, it's only unfair is the Killer's try to win, huh?
People complaining about "tunneling" very likely are the exact same people who post, "It's not fair! I walk out in the open and Widow snipes me and I don't even get to play the game! It's ruining my experience!"
"The round started on Dust 2 and someone sniped me through mid doors! I didn't even get to play that round! They're preventing me from playing the game!"
"Someone keeps hiding in the bushes and ganking me in League! They won't let me play the game, it's poor sportsmanship!"

There is a difference between rules and sportsmanship. It is not a rule that you cannot tunnel people, but even devs have said they dont promote this type of game play. Just because it isn't a hard rule doesn't mean it isn't unsportsmanlike behavior. And people "take it up" with the devs every single day. In this forum. In the ticketing system. Its why it, along with camping, was recently a topic of discussion in the survey they did. They know it is a problem that is rampantly effecting their playerbase. This behavior is not going unnoticed. Don't you think it would be more advantageous to play matches like a normal person, so everyone can have fun and enjoy the game, and only employing tactis like this when needed vs. doing it all the time, in every match, until your opponent gets so fed up that the action itself gets nerfed in some way??
Just because you CAN do something, doesn't make it the RIGHT thing to do.
No, for different reasons.
"Camping" is inherently self-punishing. Unless the survivors simply walk into your weapon - in which case you're legitimately countering overly altruistic teams - the killer is choosing to lose the game. Let them defeat themselves and just move on to the next game.
"Tunneling" literally doesn't exist in the context it is usually used here. It's literally just code for, "I died and I'm upset about it." Hide better, use a better strategy, utilize teamwork better, loop better, improve your game and you'll suddenly find that you're not getting "tunneled" as much.

That's just an idiot statement. Survivors are designed to get caught and Killers are designed to catch them. If it were possible to never get caught as a survivor, this game would be exceptionally broken and Killers would stop playing. It has absolutely nothing to do with skill whether or not someone gets caught in a match. Someone will ALWAYS get caught unless the Killer is very bad...and even then, between bloodlust and the recent map changes specifically made to end chases sooner for Killers...even bad Killers get lucky. I didn't make up the rules about what good sportsmanship looks like - they have existed forever.
It's not "good sportsmanship" to follow some rules that someone made up in their head about how you're supposed to play. It's "good sportsmanship" for me to be respectful of my fellow players, not be a jerk in post-game chat, say GG, and so on. But within the game, beating each other is ultimately our mutual goal.
If you want the ACTUAL rules of the game changed, take it up with the developers. Otherwise you're just being whiny and obnoxious, demanding that others play in accordance with your wishes rather than within the rules of the game.
(And yes, I replied to your post in the depip thread because it was actually more sensible than this topic.)

I think the OP already clearly defined the situation that it isn't that the survivor didn't contribute much, it's that the survivor COULDN'T contribute much because of the actions of the Killer.
Someone always has to get chased and downed first.
If survivors weren't catch-able, Killers wouldn't have any fun.
So there is no issue with a survivor getting downed and hooked first in a match. It doesn't denote they weren't contributing or did anything wrong. And getting facecamped out of the match is completely outside of their control. I don't really see where the logic behind trying to balance a Killer's desire to facecamp someone out of the game with a survivor's desire not to lose rank when they didn't even get a real opportunity to play, is hard to understand.
However, I do agree with @PigNRun - that it would be hard to base this off of whether or not the Killer depips, as your score is already decided. But the idea of there being a mechanism that saves your progress when you're unduly incapacitated is a good conversation to have.
The only thing I would agree with with regards to this topic is giving dead survivors some additional credit based on how many other survivors escape. The presumption being that - even if you died - your actions must have contributed in some way to the eventual escapes of your teammates. (Naturally that's not always true, but I feel like it probably is more often than it is not.)
As it is, I already encourage teammates to just leave me on a hook if the options are to either finish the gens or risk everyone's survival saving one person. Perhaps if players knew that - alive or dead - they'd get some credit for the success of the team, survivors wouldn't fixate quite so much on unhooking.

I dont. Think. Killing survivors. Is. Toxic.
LOL
Stop assuming that because tunneling can be an extremely toxic and ######### way to play that game that it means survivors don't enjoy a fair match where they end up dead. If a killer is just good at what they do, I am not mad. If a Killer is just a lazy schmuck who doesn't give two shits about anyone but themselves, they can miss me with what game play.
You just sound like an entitled killer-main ######### every time you post, who clearly plays as dirty as possible because you can't win a match without eliminating people who didn't get an opportunity to even play the game. 🤷
How did you not have an opportunity to play? Did I hack your computer or something before the match?
Improve your gameplay instead of whining about every little thing a killer does.

People who compare tunneling to survivors doing gens is pretty asinine. These are not comparable. I get Killer's don't want people to complete gens and escape. However, it in no way disables someone from playing an entire match. It doesn't rob the Killer of their points, in fact if gens aren't done destruction points aren't available and it's more difficult to locate survivors. Hense the post that exists right now about a Killer being held hostage by a team who wouldn't touch gens and just hid.
Tunneling, like camping, disables someone from even remotely playing the game. One is very much in line with how the game is intended to be played. One is not encouraged, because it is very toxic for the individual on the receiving end, but not taken out of the game because it can be a valuable resource when a Killer has their back to the wall. This is why so many Killers in this thread have admitted they do tunnel...but mainly if someone else is being toxic. Because most people recognize it's a ######### way to play against your opponent. And the issue is that a lot of Killers don't use it when their back is against a wall or when a survivor is rude. They use is right out of the gate. Which ruins the survivor's match, who waited just as long for a lobby and had just as much right to play the match as the Killer, but ends up with zero points and a depip for no reason.
Also, there is only one way to do a generator. You get on it. You push M1. There are numerous ways to flush out and kill survivors that do not include tunneling. Its 100% a play style choice.
Killing. Survivors. Is. Not. Toxic. It's literally the killers job.
Stop complaining about everything killers do and just work to win the match. Stop using phrases like, "Ruined my match" when a killer kills you, that's how the game is played. You just sound whiny every time you post about how killers are toxic and your game is ruined by losing.

This community cracks me up with its unwritten rules where if you don't follow them then you are considered "toxic." Complaining about tunneling is about as silly as complaining about camping in the end game collapse. Complaining about tunneling is also about as silly as complaining about gen rushing. In what world is it okay to say "you can't complete your main objective because its toxic?"
Indeed.
If I don't like "gen rushing" as a killer, it's my job to stop it. Not to complain that "gen rushing" is somehow toxic and should be discouraged. That would be absurd, it's literally the job of the survivors. I don't care how they do it, it's up to me to find a way to win.

"Why do you think predators go after the weak and infirm"...because in this context they are animals - not humans - and must do so to literally survive. You are a human being, full of all the cognitive abilities animals lack and which are supposed to distinguish you as a higher level being, who is playing a video game. LOL This is a dumb comparison. The same as when people say, "WHAT DO YOU THINK A RAGING PSYCHOPATH WOULD REALLY DO?!?!?"...well, Johnny, that's a great question...but I don't see any actual psychopaths here. Just a regular old person playing video games in the comfort of their own home. 🤨
Except we're not playing a game of, "Rational Humans Being Nice".
The game is, "Kill the survivors" or "Escape the killer".
Complaining about anything that either side does that accomplishes that goal - within the rules of the game - is being ridiculous.

I did this one once before, but...
"Hex: Bleach" - Causes all survivor clothes to be the brightest of whites.

for me it would probaply be the Gideon Meat Plant.
now, the map itself isnt really killer or survivor sided (layout wise - it has really, REALLY strong pallets, but few stealth options), but i HATE it being a small map with two floors.
as a survivor i can never tell where tf the killer is, so more often than not i end up dashing straight into them...
why does the TR have to be on both floors? Dx
Same thing for survivor noises. :(
"I hear that David grunting...where the heck...not over there...where the hell is this guy hiding...I cannot find this sneaky son of a - oh, dammit, he's right above me, isn't he...."

If you could put the likeness of any person into the game, who would you choose?
Jaime from mythbusters as a killer
William Shatner as survivor
4-man SWF group. Kirk, McCoy, Spock, and a guy in a red shirt that always complains about being tunneled. ;)
