this, my friends save me and vice versa when it is the dumbest idea just because its fun. I play both killer and survivor and seem to have balanced outcomes to games. you win some you lose some
Yeah, that's what everyone says.
"Haha, we just, you know, goof around with friends and uh...you know, we're not really trying...no one is talking in Discord, honest. We never communicate! We just giggle a lot over our mics and it's not helpful at all. We promise! Scouts Honor!"

Wait a minute, aren't you Dammitben on Steam? Swear I played you last night. 🤔

Why would the Devs lie about the percentage of 4-Man SWFs? That makes no sense. If the Devs didn't want to give you information, they wouldn't give you information. (The Devs already don't give us hardly information to begin with). However, there's no reason to just flat out lie to everyone, especial when people could literally count their matches and call them out on the lie. That would require PR damage management at that point.
Developers are well known for giving out stats that are slightly ambiguous or...questionable. (See: The perk stats that divided by 16 slots, not 4 players)
It's not uncommon in game development to play damage control by dropping bits of info that are open to interpretation or somehow not the full story. They know that 95% of people will just take it as gospel and the 5% that bother looking won't be loud enough anyway.

I've decided I'm not going to play this game with two of my best friends during quarantine, to placate your feelings :'(
No one gives a crap who you play with.
All I want is for SWF groups to stop pretending it's not an advantage.

Pick your best Killer and hoard all of the mori's and red add-ons that you can. Every time you get a feeling that they're a swf, use them. They get the unfair advantage of communication, take advantage of one down mori's. Don't play nice, don't show mercy and tunnel the weakest link. They always have one, find them and get them out of the game asap. If you have to proxy camp, do it. Don't ever let them bait you into a long chase.
Hopefully the Devs would start balancing the game around higher ranks once they release their matchmaking rework is released.
See, I take the opposite approach now. I just play killer with no perks, addons, or offerings.
Surprisingly, not a lot changes. I'll still beat pugs and bad groups, and still lose to good SWF. But at least now I have the option select of, "Yeah, but look at my build." 😎
-
Can't wait to see PC survivors looping Console killers.
Wonder if you'll be able to tell the platform of people you get matched with? Everyone would just be dodging PC killers. 🤣

Coms are out of the game's control.
Sure, but allowing people to queue as a group isn't.
The game wasn't built with that mind, but they made the change because it was economically advantageous, not because it made sense within the gameplay. So that's what we have now.
-
Bad matchmaking really mostly hurts killers, so don't expect a rush to a quality fix.
No matter what they do, SWF groups will still just break it with their weird, wildly disparately ranked groups. You know, where they bring that friend who is "Really just a rank 20" but has Level 3 DS, DH, UB, BT.
-
@EmpireWinner said:
They're not common to go against, as much as many don't like going against them, they need to understand that they're trying to have fun. Many claim that they're out there to "ruin" people's fun, that may apply to some, but the most I gone against were good sports. Knowing pregame if they are a 4 man and choose to dodge, will create even longer queues. That's the last thing we want.
They ARE extremely common. I don't know why the devs claim they're not, just keep track of your matches as killer and count how many were 4-man friend groups. It's far higher than 5% or whatever they claimed.
That said, there's not much you can do. Optimal survivor play destroys optimal killer play, that's just how it is. Is every 4-man this way? No, some friend groups are potatoes. But they still have a massive communication advantage in a game that's built around limited information.
Meanwhile, everyone still insists that a reasonable FoV or sounds that work right for killers would be insaaaaaaaane because it's too much information.
-
I'm not sure what you're asking. It doesn't sound like you want advice on gameplay, you're saying that "I hate red ranks".
You could always just derank! It's not hard at that level, and you wouldn't even need to play "poorly", just not focus on every emblem.

I'm looking for logical answers or a debate that makes sense and takes advantage of the perk, not completely wasting it.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1308072#Comment_1308072
I'm talking about the killer's use of the perk, not complaining about being found. So nothing is "on me."
Yeah, except people are discussing it and you just keep saying, "NUT-UH! Killer dumb!"
So yeah, not a discussion. You just want people to agree with you.

It's an even more boneheaded move to get looped around blocked gens while allowing the 3 other survivors to work on the center ones 🤷
If they're getting looped, they're getting looped. That's a completely different issue.
I mean, if you're not looking for answers and you just want someone to agree with you and say, "YEA KILLER DUMB LOL" then you got that already in a previous post. Might as well call it quits now.
-
Corrupt Intervention doesn't mean, "Don't look over there."
It limits survivor options, sure. That doesn't mean the survivors can't still BE over there.
It'd be a pretty boneheaded move to run CI, not see any survivors on the close gens and say, "Well, guess I'll just wait for CI to wear off." Especially since the survivors usually spawn further away anyway.

Try watching some streams from Otz or True who are streaming right now. Otz was playing some survivor and i can promise you, the warning for dodging it is about the same as deathslingers.
Uh, what?
Very first hour on the PTB people were juking PH's ranged attack like it was nothing.
The telegraph is massive and it doesn't fire instantly. It's not comparable to Deathslinger at all.
-
There's always a problem with sounds on the Z-Axis.
Terror radius might be goofed up for you, but at the same time the killer can't tell if the sounds they're hearing are right in front of them, above, or below.

Of course he can be beaten, nobody here is saying he can't, but what I am saying is how are those 4 survivors all supposed to know he has pop until people have spent too long working on one gen and it's too late?
You don't have to know that the killer has Pop, stacking on gens is usually inefficient anyway. Just split up, do gens, and hope that the first person the killer finds is a good evader.
That's pretty much Winning 101.

My wife (who plays survivor only, while I'm mostly killer) had a game last night where a Claudette was hooked in the basement and being camped.
Well, my wife hadn't been hooked yet and was uninjured, so she went for the epic save. Baited out a swing from the killer, unhooked, bodyblocked and took a hit for the Claudette so she had a path out, and ultimately ran out of the basement with the killer left behind.
But wait, she asked afterwards, where's the Claudette?
While all this was happening, what did Claudette do? Tried to hide in a corner of the basement and self-care. She was promptly re-hooked. 🤣
-
If it doesn't involve hiding, Claudettes aren't good at it.
Just how it is.
-
0k?
Hell, when I get a 3k, the last guy will still go crazy before leaving at the last second and saying, "GG EZ" in chat. 🤣
People just be wildin'.

any changes will only make solos weaker, swf is already increadibly strong, and ofc they are annoying as hell to deal with. The game should be split up in to. solo Q and swf Q. it really does. with crossplay coming up this "might" be happening
Sure, but then zero killers would choose the SWF queue.
While that might finally send a message to the devs about the nature of SWF, it wouldn't be healthy for the game.
-
Don't even look at the exit gates, survivors are just looking for more free points there at the end. (Plus killers get hit with a lost chase for each one that they see who then runs out, I believe?)
Just run out in the middle of the map and stare at a corner. Bonus points if survivors get so thirsty to BM you that they accidentally die to EGC.
-
I dunno...on one hand it does feel silly that the start of any game is a bit of a crapshoot with regards to whether or not survivors get free generators based solely on spawning literally the furthest from the killer that they possibly can. Bonus randomness points for which gen it is and other factors.
It leads killers to using certain traits for literally no other reason than to not feel like they're on the road to a loss before the game has begun.
On the other hand, one or two gens being done is really still just the early game. Hell, a lot of the time I don't even get the ball rolling until there's three or four gens done.
Soo....not sure if a change is needed, or what that change would even be.
-
Gen speed is the last thing I complain about, honestly.
They can go as fast as they want as long as when I catch them they're in trouble. The fact that this isn't the case is what bothers me.
-
I mean, there were plenty of threads about the 4 and Pyramid Head. So...yes, people saw it?
-
Optimal SWF strategy already involves playing as if the killer isn't hurting you. It's not like it's going to be any different, no matter what new perks there are.
I guess we REALLY needed a counter to NOED on top of it, though.
-
Not gonna lie, Pyramid Head is badass and I would take that over Candyman any day. So eh.

Game characters arent Iconic in common sense. They just broke another rule. First they broke with "human" killers, now they break with "Iconic horror characters". They just take random characters, they want to ruin their own made up identity for more Cash.
Do you try to always be this wrong, or does it just come naturally?

Better yet, your right... Let's reward the insta down killers by letting them get 4k after 4k at younger survivor ranks because the only way to really counter them is to loop? I hate to be that person who screams "Nerf this killer" but Leatherface is so damn easy to play that you can still 4k without even using his chainsaw... I've done it myself. His perks are absolutely disgusting; Being able to knock items out of the hands of others unless they have good memory or Plunderers to return later and get it (assuming the tunneling Leatherface didn't down them and hook them till death.) One that when you hook people you can look around to find your very next target to tunnel for a solid 20 seconds at most (assuming you have pallets to waste or the killer isn't skilled with looping and 360's.) And one which keeps survivors from being able to see other downed survivors auras (which I'm actually perfectly ok with as long as someone isn't just slugging to death the survivors.) Point being that Leatherface is the "go-to" when you want an easy game (especially at lower ranks) only way to ever combat him is to stay away and not everyone can do that especially early on. He's a killer meant to quickly down people without issue unless the killer behind the mouse is inexperienced
"Leatherface is so easy to play that you can still 4k without even using his chainsaw"
Then you're just playing an M1 killer. Which would be the same as most any other M1 killer. What the ######### does this even mean?

"Free Mori"
Its on the 3rd hook, its not like he can mori off first hook. Whats tge issue with that?
The issue is that survivors might die!
-
I'm not mad about SWF groups, I only get annoyed when people try to downplay what an advantage communication is.
-
So just to be clear, if he sends someone to the cage and they're freed, DS does NOT activate?
-
Deathbound sounds really good on Legion. Although it still won't work against people who know what to do, it'd just be extra pubstomping.
-
@Zixology said:
Fun Fact: If you don't immediately go after people who were just unhooked or picked up off the ground, you end up making their DS, BT, and SG completely useless! It's like you get to delete a perk slot from the survivor!
You can always tell the people who have no idea how high end SWF groups play, because they say stuff like this.

No, it doesn't. You want someone to not go down right after being picked up? Don't pick them up in the Killer's face.
Yeah, but that's the game we've got right now.
It's funny, the "casual" game and the "high-end" game are drastically different things. People walk into the game thinking that survivors should be hiding, should be careful, should be trying to not get injured and whatnot...
Then the high-end game is, "Just get hit, it doesn't matter, the killer is going to have to slap you 7 times for a single hook anyway. Go do the gens fast and get to EGC where the perks get REALLY crazy."
-
Yeah, honestly, I don't feel like we needed another, "Just do ######### in the killers face because he can't punish it." perk.
I suppose that the meta of, "Screw everything else, don't even bother hiding or using perks that do anything else, just do gens and let the killer smack you because who cares." is never going to change, so we might as well get used to it.
-
"It's just a 4, Bov! It can't possibly mean anything, you're stupid to think so!"
Hahaha, naysayers. ;)

I know someone who has been playing DBD since 2017, they still just run to pallets and throw them down without much thought. The amount of times I've seen him throw down pallets when the killer was chasing me.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/155313/anyone-else-get-super-greedy-with-pallets
Pallet efficiency is an important skill to have, as it allows you or your team mates to reuse those loops later on in the game. When I play killer in the early game I try and chase the survivor who isn't efficient with pallets. Meaning the survivor team will have a lack of resources in mid to late game.
Despite spending the majority of my games being chased by the killer, I often only need to use one or two pallets.
Yeah, one of my favorite stories as a killer is a game where - literally in the first minutes of a game - I saw a survivor and before I was even really close to them, they beelined to shack, threw the pallet, and teabagged behind it like they believed they did something amazing. Great job, buddy! 🤣
-
Yeah, if you think being the killer against a SWF 4-man is bad, try being the 4th guy on a team with a SWF 3-man.
-
Pallet greed can get you in trouble, but I suppose it's better than throwing pallets at the drop of a hat.
At least when you're greedy you generally have the right idea even if it gets you into trouble in the short term. You just have to improve execution and you'll be golden. Whereas throwing pallets willy-nilly might seem like it gets you out of trouble, but is a bad habit you might never learn to break.

This is only teaching low rank killers that the only way to get better, is to play it. You don’t become the best basketball player by playing inferior opponents, you don’t become the best staring contest competitor by versing someone with Turretsyndrome, you don’t become a better killer unless you play opposition better than you. Facts.
The message is for lesser experienced players to ‘hang in there’, the more experienced players don’t need and probably don’t want my advice.
"Hang in there" makes it sound like it's a job, or something important in life.
There's no reason that a new player should feel like they need to "hang in there" just to get to a point where a game is enjoyable. People quitting is the fault of the game, not the fault of players for wanting to enjoy a game.
