Almost took this seriously until I got to "you are running a toxic build". Could you please define these "toxic" builds so we all know who should be reported since "toxicity" is a bannable offense?
Any build where you kill survivors.
Honestly, there are a ton of things survivors can do that are also frustrating, but you don't see me over here advocating disconnecting because, "But I ain't havin no fun!! Dead Hard is toxic!!!"

I mean, there is really no argument for me. I almost never DC unless some real world influence is preventing me from staying in game, which usually boils down to work, wife, or kids.
But I have no obligation to stay. Or play the game the way someone else would prefer I play.
I got chewed out by another survivor earlier because I didn't hook rush into the basement while Bubba was insidious camping, called me all kinds of names. I just saw him sitting there and did gens and got out.
But like I said, its not an argument, its a statement of fact. If I'm not having fun, I'm out. That doesn't mean losing, it means not having fun. Sometimes thats my teammates, sometimes its a killer I can't stand, sometimes its just gotten boring.
It doesn't matter why. If I want to leave, I'll leave.
Of course you don't go into the basement there, and there's nothing wrong with that.
But the attitude of, "Well, I don't like this, I'll DC!" is just being rude and inconsiderate of everyone else, especially your team.
Yes, it's your time, your life, you can do as you please. But it still makes you rude and inconsiderate in that moment.

"then stop watching and just rewatch" People want the news they came for sooner rather than later. The problem is bundling that info in with all the rest.
No, that's not a "problem".
They presented what they wanted to present. Your impatience isn't their fault.

@Seanzu said:
There are two different "3 Gen" approaches, and one of them does indeed land you in trouble.
- (non bannable) - protecting 3 gens, committing to chases & killing people with hooking
- (bannable) - hitting people and leaving them injured and kicking gens with unnerving etc on, making it impossible to finish gens, if someone is downed you then pick them up and drop them constantly so they don't bleed out, shocking people off gens to kick them works too, this is essentially taking the game hostage as it's unreasonable to expect survivors to constantly hit tiny skill checks that regress the gens massively.
Wait, what? Since when is that bannable? I'd love to see a ruling on that one.
The killer isn't under any obligation to "commit to chases" and give up the gens any more than the survivors are obligated to "commit to gens" and get hit. That's ridiculous.

Do you think the games fun when you wait to bleed out on the ground with your team mates, while the killer just stares at you. Still worst game i remember so far. I didn't dc but wished i did.
But why?
Screw yourself out of the points and get a longer DC penalty than the bleed out timer.
I know people love to think that they're really upsetting killers with this stuff, but generally they're just laughing about it. (I had two DC's in a game last night - one of them while I was taking them to the hatch because I felt merciful after the first DC! What a goofball. Post game chat they told me that I deserve every DC I ever get because I had the nerve to play Legion. I was laughing the entire time.)
Also, people really need to lose this "fun" argument. You queued for a game. You can lose that game. People don't get to act like a baby just because "losing isn't fun!"
-
@HelloThere said:
I don't think it's a good idea since no one knows was that hook suicide or did the survivor fail to struggle (newbie, keyboard/ controler fail or distracted) . Or what about the hook suicides to give the hatch the last survivor.
Also the DC paneltise are not as good as they sounded at first. Of course players who abuse the Funktion should be punished but as it shows there is no way to leave game if it isn't fun anymore, as an example: all four survivors lay on the ground being sluged by the killer. You decide to die on the ground so you DC. Or you are glitched into something and you can't leave. What do you do DC. There is a bee in the room I'm playing. What do i do DC and leave the room immediately.
There is a reason why people kill them self on hooks. Sometimes they are good and sometimes they are bad.
Why would you DC when slugged?
-
Even though it's far more frustrating than survivor, it's also much more interesting.
That and I don't have to rely on a team to do things.

Yep, you need to play better getting hatcheted off the hook, getting shot of the hook, having GF camp the hook shrouded, etc.
Yeah, it's almost like you can prevent being in that situation in the first place if you play better.

Mostly because it's an injured survivor moving to a very predictable location. Easiest pressure you could ask for. If Hatties healed up more often they'd be a lot less tasty prey.
Yeah, they might as well heal, hat always comes off on the first box anyway

If you were playing survivor woukd you want to get tunneled and have the match end in 5 seconds???
No, but why should the killer care about that?
If I don't want to die in 5 seconds, I need to play better. Why would I think any other solution to the problem is reasonable to think about?
-
On topic: Yes, games often do this when there are DLC characters, abilities, or other game-altering effects.
Intentional? Perhaps. Hard to say. It's frequent enough that you wonder, but perhaps devs just get caught up in their own hype and want to make something awesome without thinking about it, and then have to revisit it.

What's so uninspiring about it? Have your heard of the saying less is better?
It's obvious that the designer realized that this wasn't a current outfit in the game. It was a smart choice to be the one to pursue it.
This particular outfit have been very popular amongst stars within the pass year. Especially with those kind of glasses. I really hope that the designer know his/her design is very much appreciated by others.
Yes, very popular. Hence my comment about how generic it is, I could look outside my window for the last 20 years and see fifteen people wearing it. Not a lot of thought or creativity in that, I suppose.
-
Dammit, I had a long thing written up and then lost it.
Long story short, my money is actually on Spirit.
-
I mean, it doesn't fit the character, sure.
But even if we put that aside...it's also just sweatpants and a hoodie. I never thought that would win anything, it's so generic.
The quality of the artwork itself is really good, but the costume is just so uninspired.
-
I dunno, devs already have their hands full with killer-specific abilities. I think survivor-specific ones would be overwhelming.
Not to mention that - since survivors are largely similar - people would quickly just pick the one meta ability and every lobby would be four of them every game.
Besides, we already have the most important survivor specific abilities: Size and color.
-
Tunneling, camping and genrushing are just things salty players say to blame their losses on something external.

How are you going to test him if they're NOT trying to win?
How will we know if he can keep up with the current metagame? How his abilities work against good survivors? How oppressive a mechanic is?
It's a test server, not a practice server.

Bonus points if I win with some kind of handicap. (I haven't run a perk or addon in what feels like weeks, except for a couple tryhard games for tome challenges.)
I'm a simple man, I guess.
-
Gate RNG is a bit of a mess, yes.
Either they're too close and the killer auto-wins, or they're too far and the survivor (generally) auto-wins.
Although, really, the entire Hatch/EGC/Gates thing is a last-ditch effort the survivor after the entire team has failed. I'm not sure that it really needs to be particularly fair to either side.
-
Mister Rogers already won this, I thought.
-
This is why I have my gamma jacked up and made some changes to colors.
It's amazing how the game changes when you can actually ######### see.

I get reported at least daily.
It's called, "playing killer".
I even got some more friendly comments on my profile last night! One angry guy called me a camper even though I hooked two other people before coming back and re-hooking him. Poor fella just kept running into walls!

Youre not a newbie, and it was mentioned in a QA that theyre testing matchmaking. Maybe their algorithm knows youre not a noob?
I mean, I'm preeeeetty trash.
I'm not posting those because I'm blaming anything on the matchmaking, I'm just disagreeing with the whole, "Matches groups by the highest member." thing.
It's all anecdotal, I know, but it seems pretty unlikely that this is the intent at all. Especially when my queues are literally instantaneous.
-
Next one!
3 and 18 were queued together. 11's were pugs, I think?
Again, pretty weird if it's intentional, or it's just pairing groups with the lowest ranked person, not the highest.
-
Next game!
4-man SWF group this time.
Again, if that's how intentionally handle newbie players queues, it's a really weird choice.
-
@Crowman said:

Because ranks 20-16 ignore the cap of 6 rank difference and can effectively be matched with any rank.
And yet it only seems to happen when it's a SWF containing red ranks and a super low rank. I never just see a single random red rank in a pug match.
Next game:
The 11 wasn't part of the group. But yeah, 6, 5, 20 getting matched like they're really low.
I could post these all day because it'll just keep happening over and over. If that's intentional, it's really weird.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/92295/developer-update-september-2019
To give you an idea of what is expected of the matchmaking system, here’s how the system works:
Survivors are matched to a Killer as close to their rank as possible.
If the Survivor is playing with a group, the highest ranked Survivor’s rank will be used for matchmaking purposes.
If a match of the same rank is not available, the system will gradually expand the acceptable range until it finds a match. This has a hard limit of 6 ranks above or below your rank.
New players between rank 16 and rank 20 receive an exception to this rule in order to ensure that they can find a match, even when there’s no other new players queuing.
You will not be matched with someone outside of a given range. This is to ensure that your connection to other players is as good as possible. When on dedicated servers, players will be matched to their nearest data center rather than their distance to other players.
Survivors playing in a group with distant friends are an exception to this rule.
And yet I see red ranks constantly, no matter how fast the queue was or how far I derank to see if it stops. Same for the hordes of people posting their screenshots daily.
So, I dunno. Maybe intent isn't matching with reality. I do know that I tested it with friends, threw my rank 20 survivor into their purple-red rank lobby and they started getting matched with super low killers. Small sample size, but hey.
-
And the ones that didn't got rewarded more. Funny scoring game. 😀

I mostly play solo survivor when I play survivor.
I also play a lot of killer and face plenty of swf groups due to matchmaking using the highest swf member rank.
SWF teams are not unbeatable and most are not try hard groups.
"Matchmaking uses the highest SWF rank" he says. 🤣
No, that's not some fluke, or some long queue. That's "normal". Queue was nearly instant.
Yes, they do this intentionally.

They've already stated that from a escape/die ratio, SWF do not escape that much more often. Are you the type that 4Ks 90% of their games and then hops online when you finally lose a game, suggesting that SWF are "broken."
Well yes, if I don't 4k every game, then the game is broken.

I can't take any of these "survivor is hard" "game is killer sided" "its unfair" posts seriously while killer ques are still instant and survivor ques are long. Still too many people playing survivor so obviously it's still too fun and easy to play.
The thing about playing survivor is that it's just much more relaxed. Which is kind of strange given the "horror" nature of the game.
When my wife and I play survivor it's mostly just long periods of calm punctuated by short bursts of action that don't feel scary or pressuring. And if I get caught, it's just an excuse to relax for a minute and laugh as people scramble around to see if they can get to me. Sure, you're pretty helpless against the killer, but that almost makes it more relaxed since you know you can't actually put up a fight once you've run all you can.
Compare that to killer where it's just constant time pressure, constantly on the clock, and if you screw up just one chase it might be the end.
It's a strange reversal of expectations.

But coming up with "got stomped by a 4 man" is dumb. Sorry, being a 4 man SWF will most likely not be the reason why he lost. He lost because they were better.
Does an advantage not cause you to be "better" in this context?
So many times in these threads it feels like people want to have the fastest car, but then claim that it would never help them win a race.
I don't fault people for wanting every advantage they can reasonably get, but when they consistently deny that they're doing so it's just mind-boggling. I mean, you don't see me running a perk and then saying, "Pft, well, it doesn't do anything!"

this
Maybe embrace tough strings of games as ways to improve your overall play. I don't assume every teabagging 4 escape games i encounter are some bully squad, i usually assume that i played badly and they played well. At this point I think they should just have separate servers were people can basically press a win button on both sides so you can get the experience you actually want.

No, Killers only lose when they play against SWF! Every Killer on this Forum is really skilled and plays flawless.
Its only because of SWF they lose! Its SWFs fault that they chase a Survivor for 4 Gens, because he told his Teammates that they should do Gens. Solos would never come to the conclusion to do Gens when being chased.
No one said any of that, though.
Communication and coordination is an advantage. That's literally all I said, and all that has been argued about for half a page now.
The fact that people will argue even that simple of a point is telling of how jaded people get.

what point, that its unfair for me to say "uh the killer is going left towards, uhh that tree that looks like every other tree and towards the aura that looks like every other aura." I really dont get what you want here, comms hardly even give you that much of an advantage. The most it does is to tell people "work on gens while im in phase 1," or "the killers occupied, come unhook me."
