I have encountered killers who tunnel a survivor because they did good. Is it so unbelievable that a killer can get tilted and take it out on the survivor? I'm not saying there aren't reasons to tunnel, but at the end of the day, the killer actively makes that choice and sometimes it's because they're tilted.
"I got tunneled because I'm so good" is not only a silly fantasy, it would be exactly what the team wants if they were actually that good.
The reality is that it's the weakest link that gets caught and "tunneled" because they're so easy to catch. No killer is going out of their way to identify the best player and "tunnel" them, unless they feel like throwing the match.

Except, it's quite literally what you said: "If you were that good, you wouldn't be getting caught enough to whine"
...of course you would, because you should be getting caught every match unless you're matched with an under-skilled Killer. So you would have the opportunity to whine about it every. single. match. because it's a rampant play style. ๐
None of what you described is the UNHOOKED survivor's fault. NONE of it. If a Killer proxies a hook to return for off-hook with the full intent of tunneling (which happens ALL THE ######### TIME)...no one has control over that EXCEPT THE KILLER. A survivor who goes in with the TR is gone and is mid-animation when the TR comes back has ZERO CONTROL over the tunnel. In that VERY FREQUENT situation there is ZERO opportunity for the unhooked survivor to "move away" and hide without getting caught. Noises are louder. Blood stains. Scratch marks. Whispers. You have to be ######### kidding me. You clearly never play survivor.
Abso-#########-lutely no one "blames killers for killing"...we call killers to the carpet who play like complete ######### douchebags, which is a category you obvious fall into, considering you cannot defend camping, tunneling, and slugging enough. Learn to actually play this game. It might shock you to know there are OTHER OBJECTIVES besides butt-######### survivors off a hook. Maybe look them up sometime. ๐๏ธ
Lay off the caffeine for a minute, Mister Furious.
Again, you're just blaming the killer for killing people. You don't ever even articulate what you think the killer should be doing. All you do is tell them what not to do. Which is basically everything under the sun, in every thread.
"Don't be near the hook."
"Don't go back to the hook."
"Don't hit injured people."
"Don't chase someone you chased before."
I mean, if a killer is in range, in what world do you think they're NOT going to head back to the hook when the sound goes off? At least half the team is verified to be there now, what do you think the right play here is? No, I'm not asking about your imaginary rules, I'm asking what you think the killer should be doing most of the time in that situation if they're in range?
You tell me to "learn to play" and yet you absolutely ooze the mentality of someone that doesn't want to play the game, they want people to play by the special rules they invent in their head.
-
You're not losing a pip just because of NOED if you did everything else well. The difference between, "Playing well and dying" or "Playing well and escaping" is literally one tick of the bar. (Silver to Gold, usually. Two ticks if you escape without ever being downed for the Iridescent, I guess, but that probably means you totally steamrolled the killer anyway.)
Besides, survivors run every perk that increases the number of times a killer has to hit them to get a kill. The killer runs one that MIGHT decrease that number, and people lose their minds. ๐

Your logic makes absolutely no sense. As if Killer's don't return to hooks to tunnel survivors that out play them with long drawn out chases.
If a survivor gets tunneled it is 100% always because a Killer chose to tunnel them. Can another survivor make that easier for the Killer by doing an unsafe off-hook? Sure. Can the Killer return to the hook as the off-hook is happening and give the survivor no real choice? Sure. But it is not the fault of the off-hooked survivor that they were A) camped or B) tunneled, when they did nothing but play the game normally. The choice to tunnel is 100% on the Killer. And absolutely happens because Killers get bent when they choose to waste their own time on a single survivor for a long period of time.
The idea that a survivor is only good if they don't ever get caught is extremely ignorant. This game is completely designed for survivors to get caught. The last patch - one of the biggest change patches ever implemented - was specifically meant to make that even easier for Killers. In addition to every other advantage killers have in a chase: faster movement speed, ranged or immobilizing abilities, survivors have limited resources or limited use of static resources, Killer latency + hit priority making unsafe palettes pretty useless...give me a ######### break. Survivors are SUPPOSED to get caught. Pro survivors get caught ALL THE TIME. If there was a way for survivors to fully out run every killer, every time, there would be no game.
FFS. SMFH.
I never said that you'd never get caught. Nice strawman.
Also, the killer doesn't control any part of the situation when it comes to unhooking. (Except a facecamping Bubba, I guess) If your team is unhooking you in the killers face without all the proper defense, that's the survivors fault. If you can't move away and hide without getting tracked easily after an unhook, that's the survivors fault.
You sure as hell aren't being "tunneled" for "being too good". That's for sure.
Stop blaming killers for killing.
-
So which of the 20's were you queued with each game?
-
I love when people say, "I got tunneled because I put up a good chase." Well then you wouldn't have been "tunneled".
You got tunneled because either: 1) You're easy to catch. 2) Your teammates farmed unhooks without caring about your safety.
It's one or both. It's not because you're so good. If you were that good, you wouldn't be getting caught enough to whine about some imaginary tunneling.
-
I get nanosecond killer queues, so I dunno. Doesn't seem like there's a lot of them.
-
Plague and Doc.
No, I don't want you to have ANY fun at all. Cough and Scream for days.
-
Yeah, Shroud of Binding.
Great killer offering. Please use it more often! ;)
-
Honestly, I don't mind the strength of many survivor perks so much as I despite the playstyle they encourage.
You see survivors acting like absolute goddamn gorillas, just charging at the killer, standing and eating hits, unhooking right in their face, and so on. Many of my most frustrating games aren't because of "genrush" or looping, it's because a SWF acts like they're a cavalry unit.
"DStrikes at the ready, men! CHARGE!!!" ๐คฃ
-
I dunno, I've done some pretty weird "reads" as killer before. Like having Discordance pop, running across the map, seeing scratches but no one there, and grabbing someone out of a locker.
Probably pissed the person in question off.
Does that stuff make people think you're hacking? I dunno.
-
Neverrrrrrr!
-
Honestly, why not. If you get lucky enough to see them, no point in not taking that opportunity.

That's not the point. This 3k could be a 0k if they had healed me and let me save the Bill.
Maybe. Sounds like they died regardless of the Bill situation or not.
-
Yes.
-
Super high chance that it's because the 1's were in a lobby with one of the green ranks.
People keep swearing that it's not how it's supposed to work, but it's totally how it seems to work.
-
Maybe I was wrong all along, look at this goddamned hero of a survivor:
It gives me hope for the future. (For context, the first line in the chat was "what a camper" from another survivor, after they set up an epic 3-gen by doing the Saloon, Hangman, and "bushy" gens, leaving 3 all together in the town jungle gym area.)

I didn't know I would lose my points. I play League of Legends and I'm used to skipping the end animation so I can start a new game that much sooner. I was hoping it would be the same way. I guess I was wrong.
A skip option would be useful (to me) because 1. I could start another game that much sooner 2. when I'm not the last survivor I like to spectate and I can't rewind to see what happened during the time I was busy waiting for the end animation to finish.
It's a pity they don't listen to popular opinion either like you said, so it'll just remain a dream of mine.
But you didn't just "skip the ending animation".
This would more more analogous to, "They're on our core and it's going to die for sure, so I'll disconnect."
Sure, it's an inevitable loss, but you still don't go and disconnect until the game is actually over.

Got there by killing survivors during the trial, 3 hooks each.

How do you know that all of them were SWF and not the broken matchmaking we currently have?
Because first matchmaking was looking for the lowest ranked player (the biggest number)
Then it got changed to look for the middle.
And now it should look for the highest ranked player (the lowest number).
Because I can clearly see it on Steam?
I did a whole thing not too long ago just chronicling matches, peoples ranks, and if they were SWF.
At rank 16 I never saw a red rank UNLESS it was SWF. If it was SWF, it was almost exclusively "High ranks with one low rank". Even if it was just a SWF of 2 people.
This was every game, every night. Actually, I've been recording them today as well. I also tested it from the other direction, queueing as a rank 20 survivor with a group of high ranked friends.
Either the intended behavior does not function properly, or it's not the intended behavior. I don't know which it is. All I know it's that it's EXTREMELY consistent behavior right now.

You do know that matchmaking for SWF is always supposed to look for the highest ranked player in the group, right?
What you described was how it used to be in the past at one time.
People keep saying that, and yet I've been posting screenshots now for over a week showing that - even with instant queues - I'm regularly seeing SWF's with red rank players, but only when they also have a low rank player queued with them.
It's not "sometimes", it'll be literally every game over the course of an evening. I posted one screenshot about every 10 minutes one night in a thread just showing how it works.
So yeah, either it's not working right, or people have wrong information. Because that's clearly not how it works.
-
From my last game, at that.
Another "red rank SWF that brought a lowbie so they get matched against low killers." group.
Yeah, survivors are always looking for those good games. ๐

Maybe killer isn't for you. The difficulty is exponentially in killers favor vs new survivors who can't loop, and then they get a wake up call when they encounter people who can play the game and proceed to bring noed and a Mori into every game. Play more than 4 trials you'll catch on quickly.
I always get a kick out of how survivors will run every single second chance perk under the sun, but a killer daring to run something that counters second chances is a big noob who can't play. ๐

@McLightning said:
If that was truly what survivors wanted, why are they always crying for nerfs, and crying when one of their OP perks gets nerfed? Why was there hysteria when people realized triangleface countered DS and BT?
Survivors don't want to face good killers. They want to FEEL like they are facing good killers, so when they win, they feel like they accomplished something.
Pretty much this.
There was a paper written on this once, but I can't remember the terminology used. Basically, most people don't actually want to fight Mike Tyson, they just want to be told that someone they easily beat was as good as Mike Tyson.
The segment of the population that actually wants to be constantly challenged and put in difficult situations is exceedingly small.
-
"We want good killers, but not killers that use strategies we don't like if they help them to win."
-
A high ping isn't any advantage, much less a "tremendously higher and unfair" one.
Yes, it results in some weird #########, but they're affected by it as well.
-
I'd have to see it in action, but as someone that plays Legion fairly often, I feel like this would just open up the door to letting me abuse survivors that have DW.

I don't know about anyone else, but I find it annoying when everyone is either dead or escaped but there's that ONE person who has to sit there at the exit gates teabagging and waiting for the Killer to show up. I think it'd be cool if when you're the last one left and are inside the gates, you have a brief timer to leave or be sacrificed. There's no other reason to hang around at that point other than to gloat and be toxic. Thoughts?
This is why I don't go near exit gates in those situations anymore.
They're just there to gloat and possibly get free points from winning the "chase" that triggers when you see them and they run out. (Which may actually hurt your emblems as well? Not sure. Not that emblems matter much, but still. No reason to give them that.)
-
Latest tests, popped up to 14 since folks were saying that its just 16-20 that has the weird, broader matchmaking.
First game of the day, short queue. 1, 3, 11 were all SWF. Not sure about the 6.
We all know it's just busted across the board, but there's definitely the behavior of matching against the lowest rank survivor in a lobby. Been doing this for days now.

Weak. Same can be said about Killer mains and their entitlement which is especially far more prevalent on this forum.
But of course Survivors bad, killers innocent, eh?
You just made a post justifying disconnecting because you didn't like how the game was going and you felt someone deserved hatch.
How you can then turn around and talk about anyone elses' entitlement is just astounding.

I dunno, I rarely use a mori.
Partly because I don't really care for the change in game mechanics, and partly because I don't want to listen to even more bitching on top of the usual.

And at the end there was no reason not to give my teammate hatch when gates spawn on the same side and you use me as bait when i was slugged. Was VERY worth it lmao, against killers like u i don't mind doing this at all.
Stay mad =)
This post right here is all you need to read about Survivor Entitlement.
"No reason NOT to give hatch!"
"Killer played like an ass, it's justified!"
"You slugged me!"
Just standard, whiny, entitled survivor nonsense. Breaking the rules and then blaming the killer for not giving them things.

"Punish camping and tunneling"
k bruh

Hell no.
I've dragged downed survivors to the exit gate when I've felt like they were ######### around too much. (Which, honestly, is most high ranked SWF groups....)

I just had a 4-man SWF group with all meta perks complain in chat that I was "too sweaty" after 4King them.
People are just irrational complainers.

My Build used to be lithe, alert, dance with me, and prove thyself. I remember the day I decided to switch up my build. I was tunneled and camped so much, most killers when they don't see a obsession they just start to tunnel, so yes killers pretty much made me run this build. DH,DS,BT and adrenaline. It all started after we ran into a hillbilly who slugged us all game and his response was I like to ruin peoples fun and I'm just here to kill and torture. After that I said f*** this s**t .
Oh jeez.
Stop with this whole, "It's the killers fault that I run the best perks in the game!" The only thing more tiring than the same second chance perks every game is listening to everyone claim, "Oh, I would love to run my Hope build, but the mean killers FORCE me to run these!"
No, you run them because they're the best. Because they give the best chance to cover up mistakes, give extra chances, and generally patch up any holes in a survivor's game. Because they let you do objectives as fast as possible knowing that if you make it to the late game, you're invincible.
Hell, the ONLY reason SWF groups with meta perks ever die is that they get so cocky about being untouchable and insist on always getting a 4-out.
(My last game vs. a 2-2 red rank SWF I just got fed up and just carried any downs to the exit gate. They had an easy 4-out but got so cocky that they worked on the exit gate I was at, then had a guaranteed 3-out but insisted on fifteen different unsafe unhooks. Got so tired of the second chances and invulnerabilities that I just figured I'd let them all out. Then they complained that it wasn't easy enough. Go figure.)
-
It's normal with any killer if survivors are inexperienced.
It's why new players often think that killers are OP and the game is horribly broken in their favor.

For your best interest,
DO NOT DO ANY OF WHAT PEOPLE DO ABOVE!!
THEY ARE PLAYING SURVIVOR WRONG!!
The correct way of playing survivor is the following:
you must IMMEDIATELY start working on a generator and leave other non-necessary stuff for later such as opening chest, cleansing totem or in certain cases unhooking a teammate. you also must realize that there are 4 survivors spawn in a trial and the killer can ONLY chase 1 survivor at a time which means one of the 4 of you has to get ready to get chased whilst working on a gen. Its extremely necessary for your teammates to be working on generators while someone is being chased.
Play with your friends its so much rewarding!
Have Decisive strike, Unbreakable, Dead Hard and Adrenaline ( or Borrowed Time ) Those perks are the hands down most powerful perks in the game.
Trust me, trust me, trust me if all 4 of you did the above mentioned playstyle you WILL survive 80% of your games.
Basically.
Just do the gens, doesn't matter if you're hit or hooked, you'll get extra lives.
The only thing holding most survivors back is that they overthink the mechanics.

Happened to me, I left the game for 3 months as rank 1, came back to be rank 18, I don't know if it was a bug, but it did happen, and grinding back to 1 was horrible...
Oh, that's probably just the result of cumulative rank resets over those months.
I mean I just logged off at 16 a couple days ago and logged back in 17. Doesn't seem to make sense.
-
Because some survivors refuse to separate.
You get utterly demolished by Legion if you bunch up, stack on gens, and so on. If you just do split gens (Which is what you should be doing anyway) Legion can't do a damn thing about it.
-
So basically, don't criticize or have an opinion that isn't yours.
Ok.
Like a previous poster said, this is all a strawman. I don't see anyone here "attacking the artist", in fact most of the critical comments have complimented the quality of the artwork itself. They just don't like the costume.

There are a lot of great underrated perks out there. People tend to underestimate the amount of information that aura-reading perks, like Alert and Empathy, give the player. Personally, I'm a fan of perks that allow you to escape by doing things the killer isn't expecting - so Poised and Tenacity are two of my favourites for that reason.
The problem is that most of these perks are covered simply by playing with comms and being good at looping.
Once you have information and evasion covered, all that's really left is to hit the gens as fast as possible and give yourself all the lives you can. So the gameplan is to not even worry about getting found or hit, just slap the gens knowing that even if someone is caught and hooked it won't really matter.
-
Yeah, 16 is the intended floor.
Oddly enough, I logged in a couple days ago and was 17, which confused me.

Its a stalemate that's completely being controlled by the killer. I can absolutely expect the killer to try to down someone as opposed to expecting the survivor to just stand still so they can hurry up and die already. If the killer is doing ANYTHING to further the game such as breaking pallets and such in those short chases...thats one thing. If theyre just hitting someone and sending them on their merry way across the map to selfcare and come back for another single hit... they're no longer trying to win and just trying to stall.

After half an hour goes by on those 3 gens without anyone getting hit more than once... ya gotta call it what it is. If someone is using it purely to stall rather than trying to down anyone... thats a problem.
It's "stupid", but it's a stalemate. Both sides are responsible.
The killer isn't any more obligated to go chasing someone away from the gens and give up the game than the survivors are obligated to rush in and get downed.
-
Yeah, the intent behind the nature of matchmaking for new killers is extremely confusing.
If you're 16 you'll see red ranks almost every game some nights. It's very strange.
-
Go repair the generators.
-
I was wondering why that thread got deleted.
But yeah, 3-gen isn't a bannable thing. Someone else claimed it was if you "don't commit to chases", and I'd love to see a clarification from staff, but eh.
