Not really a bug, more just the devs keep changing and messing sounds to the point where killers can't hear footsteps, breathing, etc anymore unless you have a really good headset. And since the devs consider killer problems a lower priority, it's been left like this for awhile.
yikes. guess theres no hope.

You can only hear footsteps when there are no louder noises covering them up, like chase music. And they're hard to hear if someone is moaning. Usually I can hear other healthy survivors, or the killer if they don't have a terror radius.
Sounds like they should fix that though!
Chase music doesnt really seem to be helpful then!

So it isnt just me it seems.. fair enough! is it a bug though?

Yeah we feel your pain. TBH perks help but I’d rather face 4 players at my rank without perks and add ons than my choice of perks and add ons and get a rank rank toxic survivor team.
Well. no one likes a toxic survivor team no matter what.
But then again its like most survivors i play with are always toxic after the game.
But the whole ranking thing just seem really stupid.

Matchmaking is broken. There's rank 20 killers going against rank 1 survivors as well.
you are correct. i started playing survivor with a friend and sometimes we get pitted against this custom rigged death machine that just rips us apart. Sure i've level'ed claudette to 40 to get her perks but then when i wanted to level David King i got Fingered in the butthole by these purple perk guys with Ruin and everything.
i feel more like i can manage myself playing as survivor though, than as the killer. Being a killer with no perks and being looped and ridiculed is just plain horrible.

A more important question is why do you care if someone gets out via the hatch? If someone actually uses the hatch without a key (assuming all the gens aren't done), you absolutely won that game, so who cares.

“If you lose as a survivor, its mostly up to your own fault and your teams, but if you lose as a killer, its honestly not necessarily your fault.”
This is sadly the attitude that litters the forum. There’s no sense of personal responsibility there, no reason to try and improve.
its not about attitude. its about math.

Toxic behavior should be just bannable. At least I don't ever want to play with the same person ever again so why would anyone else. It's not that when a killer is good, it's precisely the facecamping stuff for no reason

I agree on that. But there is a huge difference between face camping and patrolling the area because you have a feeling or know that they are close. When I'm killer and i hook somebody I leave and go to gens who are close, but I at least give them a try to get somebody off the hook.
And there are killers who are face camping for nothing or maybe because they are mad that they got looped allot but I think this behavior should be punished.
a lot of people face camp these days out of frustration due to what the game has become.
i understand that. The game is very frustrating as a killer, yet as a survivor its way more lax. If you lose as a survivor, its mostly up to your own fault and your teams, but if you lose as a killer, its honestly not necessarily your fault.
The game is rigged in favor of the survivors.
-
i see a lot of survivors getting entitled to be unhooked, even though it wouldnt make any sense.
Ive had a game where i "camped" a guy on a hook, because i ran whispers and the raven perk that lets me know when they make the ravens squeal.
Basically i could tell on many different occations that they were near me and the hooked guy after i hooked him, so i tried to find them. in the end, they never left the area and i knew they were there, so he died on the hook.
i got flamed for not moving away, which wouldnt make sense for me to do because i knew they were there. Why would i move away from a hooked guy, if i KNOW they are nearby to unhook him? im not supposed to let them if i can avoid it.

So I've been playing a lot, and mind you I play on the switch, and almost every third killer that I play against I bring an amazing item or a map or something like that and I lose it because my teammates can't rescue me. And this isn't because you can't kill everyone without camping.Quite the opposite actually, I main The Shape and I don't camp, and I usually get all four kills. I think how we could fix this is make a perk that if the killer is within a certain radius of a hook the gens repair speed goes up X2 so you have a better chance of escaping. Or something like that I just want to stop getting camped and having my teammates not stand a chance.
This is a typical survivor main post. Talk about how you play both killer and survivor. Check.
Talk about how easy it is for you to also play killer and get 4ks, to dismiss the fact that killers are facing trouble. Check.
Make an absurd proposal that anyone that actually plays killers and have a shred of balance understanding knows, is a terrible idea. One that only a survivor main could ever come up with because you feel entitled to survive. Check.
gen repair speed goes up by 2x for nearby gens? are you high? gens pop within minutes already. you wanna make the games even faster? The reason most killers camp is out of pure frustration where they just want a single kill which is understandable. A killer isnt entitled to a kill, but you are also not entitled to survive. The generators pop so fast they cant even think before the game is over. Naturally sometimes you face survivors that arent that good so you get a few kills there without camping. But many people have started camping now even though they arent doing bad just out of pure anger and frustration as to what this game has become. or honestly, what it has always been. But certain perk changes havent helped.
Another point is, that you are not entitled to be hooked 3 times before you can expire. If a killer chooses to camp you or slug you to bleed out and get 1 kill but lose everyone else, then thats on him. he will lose the game then. but then again, there isnt really a lost or won in this game. some consider 1 kill a victory, i prefer to get at least 2. But if ive failed to get a kill by gen 4 pops, then sure, ill probably face camp too to get a kill. On the other hand some consider it a victory if they just survive as a survivor, in that case, you should attempt to hide better and not get caught. I prefer to call it a victory if i survive, but i need the other survivors to make that happen, so i help them out.
It is his right to camp if he so chooses, whether it be out of his tactics or frustration. i would prefer it if it didnt happen, sure it sucks. but i understand WHY it happens.

i dunno about whether hes gay or not, but the screams he makes when downed and hooked are hilarious as #########

This isn't a post to complain about NOED, but rather just to question why bad killers use it as a crutch. Most of the time resulting in their only kill. It's just certain days I go on this luck streak of killers who are SO BAD, i literally just ran an oni for 5 minutes around 1 pallet, we all **** on this guys life, tbagging blinding pallet slamming lmaoo. Then mister no skill killer has the audacity to be running NOED. lets be honest that you aren't even going to get far with that when 4 survivors are better than you. You're admiting you're a bad killer seeing as half the killers have 1 shot abilities they can get standard (M2). Needless to say he didn't kill anyone.
Next match, boy was this a funny one, a trapper with NOED who couldn't even loop. Every time he wanted to try to swing at the pallet and let me slam him. It's hard to take this guy seriously and then he gets 1 hook all game, guess what perk he's playing with? NOED LOL
Go ahead keep using it it's rather amusing, rules of survival, unless the killers complete garbage just let the random die on NOED, OR take a look in the most immediate areas to check really quickly, don't feed these bums, I'm perfectly fine with killers not developing skill through means of NOED to get 1 - 2 kills .
A major issue in this game is how people prioritize killing someone even if it means on the first hook. This I don't understand unless you truely don't care about even bloodpoints. Pips don't stand for anything unless you like having a challenge every single time in red ranks, even at purple ranks now u get gold and gray killers on ps4. Hell you even get linked with gold and gray survivors who would rather watch you loop for 5 minutes instead of doing generators. Even so with dumb survivors and a dumb killer with NOED 1-2 experienced survivors is all it takes to change those matches.
This perk is the biggest hurdle in the game toward survivors , to be fair it always has been, i think I'd rather have this reworked than ruin, ruin was bareable, although admittedly it was the cause of disaster in a lot of games. Why should No One Escapes Death work on every survivor multiple times until its cleansed, depending on what level of NOED you have should be how many times you can use it;
MY PROPOSAL ON HOW N.O.E.D. SHOULD BE:
( NOED Tier 1 - You get a 1 hit down on 1 survivor, only works 1 time)
(NOED Tier 2 - You get a 1 hit down on 2 survivors, only works 1 time on each selected survivor)
(NOED Tier 3 - You get a 1 hit down on 3 survivors, only works 1 time on each selected survivor)
There's absolutely no reason u need a crutch bigger than 3 free M1 1 shots.
Please I hope the Devs see this idea, its much more balanced, especially for super low rank noobie survivors who don't know where to look for totems, or that the situation calls for them to just escape rather than rescue.
no. a major problem with this game are people like you who feel the need to outright bully killers for their choice of perks. you even come to the forum just to trash talk them. You could completely make your point about NOED without bragging about how you basically made someone else miserable and afterwards dragging them in to the mud because of their choice of perks. I swear i can feel through my monitor that you dont say GG after games, you probably let the killer know how much of a swine he is, when you get tunneled, camped and killed by killers. Let the toxicity flow.
so what if they arent good, this game is difficult. and when bad killers have to face off again SWFs or people that are good, because the match making sucks, then its just an uphill battle for them.
Running NOED is completely fine, but i do see your sentiment. Why should a perk allow you to just instadown a person? well the thing is, you can avoid it. Just destroy the totems. games in the higher ranks are fast enough that you can spare the time to destroy totems. and even if thats a problem, then there are perks to avoid that like decisive strike when you get picked up or dead hard.
but no, i dont see it as an actual problem. For a killer, your first and foremost responsibility is to actually kill something. sometimes enough gens pop for you to understand that if you dont tunnel, you wont get a kill, at all. so people do that.
but by all means, just destroy the totems its not that difficult. and why should survivors be able to survive because the killer sucked? i dont know. Why do you demand that all 4 of you get to survive? i see no problem in a perk that helps out new killers to at least get one kill. you'll get over it.
-
@ZoneDymo said:
I know, who cares about points? but honestly I feel a killer should not get rewarded for tunneling, if you hook the same survivor 3 times in a row, that should heavily cost you bp and your emblem for that category imo
why? when you hook the same guy, he dies. thats the killers job. so whats the problem? if a guy rescues on a hook, and i see them both, why would i run after the guy that unhooked when the guy who was on the hook but is now free, is closer to being permanently dead?

Slugging isnt outplaying survivors. Its outdoing basic game mechanics and just scummy play as killer. The only thing that needs to be fixed is that slugging shouldnt be possible like it actually is. Its not fun to lay on the ground half the game til a sweaty killer got his "will".
desperate time calls for desperate measures.

I really just want to know what the devs are planning to do. They've turned the game into a war zone. Killers were so distraught when ruin got nerfed and act like gens get completely done 100% of the time they get into the match without old ruin. Survivors usually don't escape, let's face it. We always die. So why do you killers act like we always get gens done, open exists, escape, bm, and such?
If you find yourself dying a lot its probably on you, or your team thats the issue.
SWF is also super powerful because the ball isnt on the killers homefield. Im not saying i havent gotten a 4k because i have, but when i do, its usually not because im godlike because im very medicore. at best, i get 1 or 2 kills. if i face SWF or good players, i sometimes dont get anyone killed unless i camp.
no killer acts like survivors dont always survive, we dont act like anything. we just know for a fact, that the game is rigged more towards the survivors than the killers.
its not about opinions. the math doesnt add up for how long each thing takes to do.

As someone who enjoys playing both sides of the game, I feel that moris and keys offer a "cheap win" for each side. While I disagree that these elements should be removed from the game entirely I do believe they could each use a soft nerf. As for moris, I'm strictly referring to offerings. Devour hope is perfectly fine as is IMO and I don't have a solution to tweak rancor so all you get is a \o/ for now.
As for moris, I think the pink offering should be after you hook a survivor twice or after you hook *all* survivors once. I feel that with the former you're doing it for style points and with the latter you have "earned" the win.
With keys it gets a hair tricky. I would suggest that keys aren't activated until either the exit gates are powered or the EGC has started. Only 3 gens done, two dead, and the last two get a free ticket out bc one had a key on them? Nah, that's gonna be a no for me, dog. I feel that this would turn keys into a last resort rather than a "get out of trial free" card. You'd simply use them to counter a gate humping killer.
But if course I'm open to discussion. Do you think that keys and moris need a rework? If so, do you have suggestions other than my own? Please do your best to curb your bias if you main one side over the other.
no. the time has come to rebalance the entire ######### game.

To be perfectly honest, once I started interacting with the facebook groups is when I noticed just how one sided the community is. I got kicked from three groups just for making memes that mocked survivors and their toxic habits. That really just confirmed for me that the community was survivor heavy and more toxic than described. I still have a picture that complied with the "no names in screenshots" rules that got denied because apparently there were names despite me blatantly cropping themnout. That's when I knew survivor mains ran the entire Dbd community.
I had some good times but no where near enough to keep me playing the game. I got to rank 13 survivor in less than a day, another point of contention. I was winning match after match after match as a survivor with little to no perks. It's when it dawned on me that killers are truly at every disadvantage within the game. Looping came quick to me, pallets were abundant when I needed them, skill checks were mundane and nearly consistent. I knew that once I had some teachable perks under my belt that the game would be a cake walk. I had another "a-ha!" Moment when I had that thought. So many survivors able to blind me so long, narrowly escape a lunge, bring themselves up from a dying state, and any number of crazy abilities that did nothing but frustrate me as a killer. Survivors inherently, even without perks, can absolutely run the table on even a red rank killer.
I could list for days why this is the abject truth, but instead I'll have survivor mains retort with any number of insults, challenges, and overall cognitive dissonance regarding their upper niche within the community. To those that feel the need to be toxic in the responses to this post, denying established fact.
I'm just going to delete the game and wait until a week after ragnarok for the devs to finally balance what's broken.
i quit the game ages ago because the math didnt add up between how long it took a killer to chase, hook and kill survivors, contra how fast it was for survivors to do gens.
the ball was never on the killers side, it was never the killer, that dictated the game. it was directly unfair.
Ive come back like a week ago and i see the game, at that point, hasnt changed. i will keep playing for a while now, though.
probably untill i get too frustrated with the gen rush and loops as i was before.

First I'm going to talk about you killer mains. Now for you survivor mains, When the devs change perks you don't like for example deceive strike. Some of you complained about the changes right? And some of you threatened to leave the game right?
So what's the difference killer mains and survivor mains? Nothing it's basically the same complaining that you guys use alot when something that you once loved got nerfed or changed. Just chill and play the game for fun:)
Or play a different game, for example I'm playing dead space 3 right now:)
Also one last thing I play both sides:) morning I play survivors and at night I play as killers:)
See you in the fog:) p.s plz keep this thread on topic and no negative comments plz:)
the only one being childish is you, at least looking at the way that you make your post with smileys and all that. You also fail to see that there is a geniue merit to some of these complains.
Killers have legitimate reason to complain as the math doesnt add up. 80 sec to do one gen, and there are 4 survivors. Each survivor can work on a different generator.
On the other hand, the killer has to deal with 12 chases (if you plan on 4k) that generally takes longer than 30 seconds. the math simply doesnt add up.
So when a perk changes that was meant to stall the game to even out the math, then obviously, killers will complain. They complain because the ball was never on their side of the half, it has and always will be, on the survivors side.

@Harrygan said:
Seriously what is wrong with you devs and killers? Dont you understand that facecamping is NOT fun?
Not only it ruins the game for 1 or more survivors, but it also awards the killer with a pretty decent amount of bloodpoints which is even more frustrating for the survivors. Killers should be punished for this braindead game play because they literally make the game toxic.
it does NOT award the killer with a lot of points. he is better off trying to slug other people and attempt to hook them.
If someone gets camped then do generators and force the killer out. the Survivor game is about how many can survive where as the killer game is how many can you kill. If he gets to kill a single person its bad for him, if you manage just a single dead, its good for you.
sure it sucks to be sacrificed, but dont get caught to begin with then. The ball is mostly on survivors half not the killers. Survivors often dictate the game, the killer dont, as good survivors can be really really difficult to deal with.

We get it.. "just do gens" is a terrible response. Some people don't have the ability to communicate that as we all don't play the easy way of swf.
That means we need to rely on what we see and hear in game and if you can't tell he's camping until you run across the map to check on the hook (and that goes for every other survivor. Because, AGAIN, we all don't play swf). This means a whole lot of time is wasted not being able to do gens because we rely on each other as a team.
Please stop thinking "just do gens" is a reasonable response to this camping with one hit downs issue..
What are you even saying. i sometimes play with a friend, sure, but mostly i play survivor alone. I dont communicate with anyone, in fact, most survivors dont communicate with others yet they dont have this problem.
the reason we say "do gens" and know it works is that eventually when you rank up you gain map awareness of whats going on. obviously you should attempt a rescue one way or the other if you are close. but usually, not everyones close to the hooked guy. So the guy not nearby, will do gens.
There are also many perks that allows you to see friendly survivors in given situations, so that will give you an idea about who is closest, and who should perform the rescue.
its not about communicating, at least not written or orally. So yes, Do the gens, is still a valid response. theres usually always someone not near the hook. that guy do generators. But ofc if he goes for a rescue as well, that just means he have no awareness.

Blinding the killer while they break a pallet is probably the worst way to use a flashlight. Instead of using the time given to catch some distance from the killer, you often end up being tracked down due to audio clues such as breathing or footsteps. Good killers will actually do that - maybe not 100 % precisive, but often close enough.
Flashlights are more powerful being used to free teammates, during the vaulting animation of the killer, to start a moonwalk versus Hillbilly/Nurse or to impact your character's movement in general.
I wouldn't mind if they made it so you couldn't blind the killer during the pallet break animation, but I don't feel like that change is necessary atm.
Yes but if your plan is to distract the killer while the rest do gens, then its a very very solid strategy.

Yet another match where unfortunately I was caught first and it was Leatherface who decided to Camp me the entire time with his chainsaw revving.
He ended up getting a second kill before the other two survivors escaped because instead of just focusing on generators one or two of them stood around doing absolutely nothing as if he had any intentions of letting me off the hook.
How about we come back this face camping situation by subtracting three points for every time the Killer stays Within 15 m of a hooked Survivor from the start of the hook through all of the phases.
This would ensure Killers wouldn't camp and survivors would hang in there and not just disconnect.
camping is a terrible strategy. just do gens and he loses. If you are close to the hooked guy, attempt a rescue. if not, do gens. or fail a gen on purpose nearby to draw him away.
Sometimes a killer is down to 1 gen and has no kills and is no where near any kills and just wants one, so he sometimes camps. why is that such a problem? let him camp, and if you can, rescue the guy on the hook. But usually if you do succeed, survivor mains wont hesitate to be toxic turd bags and call him names for his use of strategy in the end chat.

well of course i can hear them click the flashlight but whats that gotta help me? i still need to break the pallet, and i still get flashlighted when i do.
The longer i stand and watch to try and mind game him to make him use the flashlight because i trick him to think i break the pallet, the longer he's delaying me.

Blinding at a pallet break is much stupid, it's not as useful as it used to be, since survivors aren't super strong like before and instablinds have been nerfed. Maybe only blinding as the killer is stunned by the pallet might be decent.

But again, i cant really say if this is a problem i only just started playing again. i just know that i feel frustrated when this happens to me.
There are ways to avoid being flashlighted when pick up a dying person, but there isnt any way (unless you use perks) to avoid being flashlighted while breaking a pallet. the fact you cant defend against it, makes it a little weird.

camping is legitI know, many player who like do that will be disagree with my discussion. The developers can nerf flashlight but not do something about camper, tunnel and patrolling. And if you say camping is legit, if i found you in a match i will face camper u. I know you will be dc in game cause you not happy if i camp u.

Buy Grand Theft Auto and you try report that in game, rockstar will be do action in 1 until 24 hour.you cant face camp anymore.

This post goes out to all campers if you don't like to be camped then why do you camp. I have just been in a match with somebody who when one of my friends camped them they didn't like it but they have just legit camped me hard. What the hell is wrong with them.i dont get angry when i get camped, but sometimes i do camp if i have to or for the shits and giggles.
deal with it.

survivors are still humans though. or most are. why shouldnt they be able to jump too?For the same reason that being hacked up with a chainsaw and having a hook as big around as your arm shoved through thier chest doesn't kill them. Game mechanics.
you dont say. but OP wanted survivors to be able to jump out of realism. so i asked why killers shouldnt be able to as well.
gameplay mechanics is the obvious answer.

But killers are heavy and faster, survivors are lighter and more agile, that's why they can vault windows faster than killers, and that's why i think they should be able to jump as well.
