There are much perks to help others you just need to get rid of info about teammates perks and you could use blood pact for example and organize ur team.

Again, most of my fun comes from figuring out and using limited information and supporting based on that limited information. As soon as you allow comms, that challenge is gone (as evident with SWF, which I dislike playing in for that reason).

If I wanted to play a team game where I actively communicate and organize with others, I'd play a team shooter like Valorant, or the upcoming game that's literally that + DBD called VHS.

I'm honestly happy DBD doesn't have voice comms primarily for that reason, and would immediately leave if it were brought in. If I ever really want voice comms and organized play, I'll just do SWF or play something else.

    ---

And I gotta say again, I absolutely do not want to feel forced to communicate with the majority of players in this game. That is something the introduction of voice comms would encourage if not enforce, since killer would have to be buffed to make up for the communication and make non-voice solo queue users lives even worse.

  • You know, it's ironic in a way.

I love working as a team member, and always take perks that helps others out either by giving them information or some other benefit.

However, despite my enjoyment of being a team player, if I had to use comms in this game I'd probably just straight up quit.

Half the fun for me is making on-the-go decisions using the limited information I'm given, and giving aid based on my decisions to others.

If I had comms, that would be simplified to the point it's uninteresting and I'd lose my motivation to play.

    ---

Not to mention I sure as heck don't want to talk to a lot of people I see in-game.

I can already imagine people's shotcalling (that I will actively ignore to do whatever I want), which will inevitably lead to rage.

  • I actually do prefer old Dwight, he looked so much more dorky and I loved it.

The rest are improvements more or less, maybe even too much so (dang, handsome David).

That said, good to know Enti-Nea still looks like a killer either way.

  • Perk: Little Pecker

When a survivor stands too close to a crow's perching area, the crow dive bombs at the survivor. If the survivor doesn't move away in x seconds, the crow lands on their shoulder and pecks at their head periodically for x seconds, injuring them in the process.

  • Oh, actually have another one from just now.

I was playing Play With Your Food Ghostface, and my obsession kept running at me all game trying to make me hit them. I refused to hit them because I didn't want to deter them away from me, and instead just ran away to end the chase repeatedly.

Post-game chat revealed they had Mettle of Man, and were desperately hunting me down trying to get value from it.

Meanwhile I was running away from them to get value out of Play With Your Food.

So we both had perks no one really uses, and tried so hard to get value from both of them that we basically swapped roles, with the survivor hunting me down while I kept running away from them without each other knowing why.

    Was hilarious in hindsight.

  • At least a couple comments in here let me know I'm not the only one who likes the map.

  • I suppose the funniest thing I have to share would be my time trying to fit "For the People" in my build since CoH's release.

It's both satisfying for me, and depressing for killers, when I insta heal someone from a downed state (especially at end game) and cause everyone's escape.

In particular, there was one game where someone got saved off a hook with borrowed and got body blocked between me and the killer, who was waiting out borrowed. I insta healed them, and they turned into my body blocker as I ran to the exit in the opposite direction.

The same scenario happened again later, but instead the survivor didn't know I was trying to insta heal them and kept moving so I couldn't get it off. I think they thought I was griefing them by locking them in a position and they were panicking lol

Fortunately the game went so smoothly, and the survivor who died laughed it off after.

  • I'm actually enjoying quite a bit of diversity in builds nowadays, which is really nice. I just wish more killers had more unique add-ons that promoted more unique builds.

    ---

    Killers:

Ghostface: Corrupt Intervention, BBQ, Play With Your Food, Rancor

Legion (+ killer instinct range add-ons): Thrill of the Hunt, Third Seal, Ruin, Devour Hope

Freddy1 (+ skill check penalty add-ons): BBQ, Oppression, Overcharge, Hex: Lullaby

Freddy2 (Black Box): NOED, Remember Me, No Way Out, Rancor

    Plague: Tinkerer, Mindbreaker, Thanatophobia, Ruin

Nemesis/Twins: Pop Goes the Weasel, Eruption, Mindbreaker, (whatever else)

    ---

    Survivor:

Support Build1: Bond, Open-Handed, CoH, We're Gonna Live Forever

Support Build2: Kindred, For the People, CoH, Balanced Landing

Support Build3: Situational Awareness, Kindred, CoH, whatever else

    ---

Despite me thinking CoH is busted, I do like that it makes me more independent (self-heals) while still supporting my team. I do think it needs nerfs, particularly to self heal speed, but it is pretty dang fun to use.

  • To be honest, I secretly hope they one day bring in Scooby Doo or Team Fortress 2 characters.

Edit: With art adjusted for each to add more realism and fit the theme of the game. Possible for sure for Scoobs due to live aciton movies, maybe not for TF2

  • Yeaaah I can't deny boons are a bit annoying.

I have to run a full hex build with Thrill of the Hunt on Legion to really dominate, but I really really hate that I'm feeling forced into running hex perks solely to encourage cleanses over blessings. Otherwise, it doesn't matter how good of a frenzy I get with Legion, the entire team is just healed within less than 30 seconds.

Heck, last night I actually played as Nemesis with his Lethal Pursuit perk. Got 4 injuries at the very start of the game since they were all grouped up, then downed one in 30 seconds. Unfortunately they found a totem and blessed it early into my chase, and literally everyone full healed and was on generators like nothing ever happened.

The healing speed on boons is actually incredibly stupid, and I find it hard to believe the devs think this is okay. I mean, don't they remember why they nerfed Self Care to have a 32s base heal time?

  • I mean, to be fair, Ormond is coated in snow and ice.

Maybe they should give blight some salt or gravel so he has better traction on those surfaces.

  • Ursala from "The Little Mermaid."

She'll take your voice away when she hits you, making you harder to track.

I think many survivors would like this killer.

  • I mean, the developers literally made the MMR system based off kills and discouraged hooking multiple people by lowering the effectiveness of hit-and-run strategies to apply pressure on the entire team without killing someone outright thanks to free super self cares for the team.

I'm not exactly surprised camping and/or tunneling is becoming prevalent when they make two huge consecutive changes that can both be argued to promote them.

My advice to the developers would be to try discouraging it if they or other people don't want it.

  • Tomes are great.

Like said before me, they introduce a challenge and thereby encourage build diversity to revolve around said challenge.

I wouldn't, say, make a tome for Halloween and call it an event pretty much by itself when tomes are something offered on a regular basis. But in general they're great.

  • Wait, there's an event?

  • For over a year when threads came up asking who everyone hates facing most, Bubba was up there with Spirit for me.

I find him strong because he has pretty easy to hit insta-downs at all times, innate 50% brutal strength with his chainsaw (or it feels like it, I couldn't find the exact number), and can only really be countered by a good window abuse spot, of which there aren't too many that can handle him.

If you're ever caught out in the open, you're just gone.

Pair that with his insane facecamping ability with literally no counterplay (he even rushes down Borrowed Time like you never even had it) and it becomes extremely unfun.

    ---

That said, I do like some of the strategic thought processes that you have to use when vsing him.

    Examples:

Do I vault this window and risk him predicting it with a chainsaw rush on the other side, or do I camp the window and force him to come close and M1 me before I vault?

Do I let him eat every pallet, or can I afford to risk going for the stun or greed loop pathing without putting my team in a bad position?

When do I get out of the locker?

  • I think it would be more fair if other survivors (not the creator of the boon) couldn't see the totem aura.

That way the fast heal time could be reduced indirectly by a higher search time without actually nerfing the heal time if they want to keep it so badly.

  • I actually find blight really annoying to face because of his 90-180 degree turns, I won't lie about that. They take me off guard, and make me frustrated each time.

But then I think to myself: "Could he actually down me without the ability to do that?"

I doubt it, because then I can just hide behind objects all day between bounces.

So I just learn to live with it, since I think he might actually need it (I'm not totally sure about this statement, but maybe).

  • An idea would be to have the effect more accurately reflect the name.

For example, when an injured survivor uses "Dead Hard," they immediately fall to the ground and disconnect.

See? Now it's like regular death, where you leave the game, but it's harder on you with additional penalties, such as disconnect penalties.

    ---

But nah, I think it's more or less fine.

  • Game's about survival, and they care about theirs - can't blame 'em.

Saving others is an option, not a necessity.

Also there might not be an "I" in team, but there certainly is an "M" and an "E."

  • All I ask is the ability to de-link the breaking chains button from the generator repair button.

Please, just do that and I won't mind him. Until then, I hate him with a passion.

  • When a survivor is being tunneled, and you want to help them but they run away from you.

Then they drop a pallet when they get downed, which you could have used to rescue them.

Then they wait 10 minutes in the lobby just to cuss you out for not body blocking for them.

    ---

Just happened to me a few minutes ago, and things like this always remind me how emotional and stupid people are.

  • The Other Mother spider-like thing from the Coraline novellas.

Her mori can be removing and sewing buttons in survivors eye sockets.

  • I mean metas can only change by nerfing the meta perks, or power creeping the game to the point that meta perks no longer become meta.

CoH is definitely a power creep move, and I think people are just a little upset right now that that's the route the devs took to help change the meta.

Now whether or not power creep is a good thing is up for debate, but it's always going to have rough transitional periods where players resist and adjust. This period will typically last until the other perks and sides in the game start evening out through future adjustments and additions.

    ---

That said, I'm in the resist group for this and do think CoH (in particular its self-healing times) need to be nerfed a bit.

  • Daang, 10 seconds?

Oni's base dash speed is 7.82m/s.

That means you have to dash 78.2m before hitting someone, which is like running around the entire map before hitting someone. That sounds hilariously hard.

    in HELP Comment by Beaburd
  • Yeah, it can feel that way sometimes.

The grading system for killers was made with such rounded requirements in an effort to promote chases, multiple hooks, and general interaction with survivors and discourage camping primarily. So when you do well but don't get the positive reassurance of your performance at the end, it can feel bad, I agree.

That said, take comfort in knowing that your actual skill and progress is evaluated by the new hidden MMR system which is based solely on how many people you killed. It is hidden, so you can't really see it, but if you kill 2 or more people your MMR will certainly have increased.

That said, a more outwardly positive and viewable reassurance of your performance using the new kill system would be nice too.

  • @Mystix said:

Thank you, I just had a game where I hooked loads of times as my Devour got broken and got a 3k still Brutal :(

Rip, that sucks, I've been there before.

Other than hooking, chases and generator speeds can be notorious sections to fulfill for a good score. Then there's also a damage state and healing based emblem as well if I recall.

But in particular if you play a one-shot killer, or someone with quick chases overall, this category can be difficult to fill up.

And then the generator-based emblem can be a pain since you get more points in this section if less generators are completed every second, which can be tough if they rush generators down early.

I really wouldn't worry too much about this though, as emblems don't do anything nowadays except contribute to ranking. But ranks don't matter now that MMR is a thing, so it's purely cosmetic.

  • End-game gradings are based on the emblem system still, I believe.

A lot of those emblem points come from performing actions a lot, like hooking, rather than flat out killing everyone.

You can see how emblem scores are calculated here:

Emblems are a new Ranking Mechanic that was implemented with Patch 1.9.4 into Dead by Daylight . The Emblem System is a replacement for the Victory Cube for Killers and the old Bloodpoint-related Rank Mechanic for Survivors. A Player's Rank is now decided by their performance in a Trial and independent of the Bloodpoints they gained. Emblems replace the old Bloodpoint Category circles in the Ranking section of the Tally Screen. Successfully obtained Emblems come in four Qualities: Bronze, Silver

Fun fact: You can actually get merciless killer even if someone escapes by hooking everyone 11 times and getting enough emblem score elsewhere as well.

    ---

    Edit:

So to answer your question, you're probably not hooking or interacting with others enough to get a better score. That's especially easy to do with devour's insta downs and executes.

  • We have an amazing event going on that you don't want to miss!

There are pumpkins you can kick.

They don't give much of anything, but you can kick them!

    ---

But really, I won't cover the balance changes since they're available in the announcements section of this forum.

The event is pretty lackluster in my opinion, but it does have the merit of giving you 666,666 bloodpoints for logging in once during the event. You can also do the event tome to claim 2 free halloween skins.

Did it get worse? I stopped using them after that first huge nerf a month after they came out.

    You poor soul.

Frank, Julie, Susie, Joey or "The Legion" are one of 25 Killers  currently featured in Dead by Daylight . They were introduced as the Killer of CHAPTER X: Darkness Among Us, a Chapter DLC released on 11 December 2018. The Legion are a band of merciless Killers, able to rush down helpless Survivors with their power, Feral Frenzy. Attacks made during their frenzy inflict lingering internal damage, downing any Survivors that are not quick enough to react. Their personal Perks, Discordance , Mad Gri

Click the link to the dbd wiki for Legion, bring up the find function with "Ctrl + F" and type in "4 seconds"

  • They gave you a single BP using the "Witchplease" code on their store.

The fact you have the sheer audacity to complain about the BP grind after such an ENORMOUS and GENEROUS gift is disgusting.

Get out of here, you rational peasants.

  • Plague is the only correct answers for any question involving high ceilings.

That said, I'd go with Nurse.

Huntress is a close second, but those volleyball hitboxes disgust me too much to give it to her.

  • I like the game a lot, I just have frustrations with it.

    Do I love it though?

You'll never hear me admit that even if it's true, which I will also not confirm nor deny.

  • As a personal preference, I customized my keybindings so that I only have to hold F to do generators.

    Why is this relevant?

Because I run with WASD, F is beside D, and the button to break the chains happens to be the same one you hold when doing generators and it cannot be de-linked from it.

So all in all, I think facing him is a pin in the butt.

  • No need for special charms or events on Halloween, we wouldn't want to get spoiled would we?

    No, no.

Smashing the occasional pumpkin for negligible reasons and having event offerings that will likely cost you more to buy than give you in a game are more than enough.

Boy, am I happy to have all the other holiday celebrations canceled for this pumpkin and a candle on the gens.

    ---

But seriously, I'm just a little salty about this event.

Skins and free 666,666 BP was nice and all, but those are just gifts rather rather than meaningful interactive holiday events. The witch skins can also be seen as promotional material for the new chapter more than anything else as well, while the BP is just a drop in an ocean of overwhelming grind that the devs have already admitted to becoming too much at one point.

  • My biggest problem with boons is Circle of Healing, and how it gives a Self-Care that's twice as fast as Self-Care to your entire team. I mean, giving everyone in the area "We'll Make It" is strong too, but I don't mind that effect myself.

If they reduced self-heal times from Circle of Healing to 32 seconds when it's granting you the ability, I'd be fine with the perk. You can give survivors the 16 second heal if they run Self-Care in conjunction with this perk by doubling the 0.5 efficiency of Self-Care though.

Until then, I don't think this perk can ever be considered fair.

    ---

I mean look at it this way:

CoH takes 16 seconds to self heal, and Self-Care takes 32 seconds.

That's a 16 second difference between them, meaning as long as you're within 16 seconds of travel time from the boon, your entire team is getting a faster version of Self-Care regardless of where they are in the map.

However in 16 seconds you can run 64m (4m/s * 16s). Add on another 24m to account for the effective radius of the totem and that means that using CoH for self-healing instead of Self-Care is more efficient as long as you're, at most, 88m away from it.

Now, for reference, Empathy is a 64m and covers the entire map basically. 88m means that as long as the totem is up, it will almost assuredly ALWAYS be more time efficient to run and use it than Self-Care in whatever spot you're at.

Now imagine being a hit and run killer specifically who has to face everyone with super Self-Cares from a single persons perk.

    ---

In addition to the above, killer time is much more valuable than survivor time. Expecting them to hunt down and break these potentially infinitely respawning totems that grant super versions of Self-Care to literally everyone is unrealistic and arguably impossible.

In that way, I think boons (or CoH in particular) are too oppressive right now.

Reduce the self-heal time so it's not just so blatantly overwhelmingly good to the point it overshadows dedicated self-healing perks by miles and distributes it to everyone for free and I think it'll be in a good spot.

  • The game is catered to a casual survivor audience, and has been in varying degrees for over 5 years.

Killers know survivors don't like being camped, but they don't have any reason to care.

It's like a spoiled rich kid cutting in front of a malnourished and financially troubled peer at a lunch line because he's so famished and deserves immediate attention.

  • I do think survivors in general have too much of an advantage, including solo queue.

But most survivors aren't typically that great nor even want to exercise efficiency when they play, and prefer to troll, be immersed, or otherwise be inefficient and poor players relative to a competitive setting. So survivor advantages are often equaled out by their typical inability to play the game at a competent level.

That said, if you ever get a group of survivors (even solo queue survivors) that know the game, and more importantly, want to play it well, then expect to be put at a large disadvantage as killer without there being much you can do.

This likely won't change either as the vast majority of the player base is either casual or likes to interact with others more than do generators effectively, meaning they need that handicap to perform/win at a consistent level.

In short: The developers aren't likely to ever significantly reduce the advantages they have, no matter how killers feel.

And honestly, I think their desire to ignore real game balance in favor for community wants is smart from a business perspective as much as I hate to admit it.

  • I like Mikaela's clothes a lot.

I even find her face in this a lot less weird than her base face, but maybe I'm crazy. I also like her overall look in that cosmetic.

    Doctor is okay.

And I don't even care about the blighted PH and Nemesis cosmetics.

    ---

But then I'm someone who prefers simple cosmetics and typically I veer away from things that are overly loud or gauche.

  • Taking bets the next boon perk will grant survivors an extra damage state (like borrowed time) if they take a hit while injured within the boon's radius.

"Just snuff out the totem" they'll say.

"It's only if you get hit within the 24m radius" they'll say.

    ---

No joke though, I'm actually really paranoid that they're going to nerf boons to be single use and then raise the effects to a ridiculous level like this.

I really am hoping I'm unjustifiably paranoid, but this has been gnawing at the back of my mind for a bit now.

  • I cannot resist any thread where Trickster is mentioned just because I want to like him so much, but I can't in his current state.

I literally do not care what state of balance he is in overall. All I want is for them to change his kit to make his knives bounce off walls base kit, and have his add-ons adjust what effect the bouncing knives give. If they have to gut him to make it viable in their minds, fine, but give me the Trickster I envision.

I know it's selfish of me to demand that without consideration for his current fan base but oh well.

Thats a fair point. Honestly I guess I'm just so tired of seeing thread after thread of people talking about how toxic the game is when they also do nothing at all to actually handle the situations themselves.

No worries, I get the frustration too.

It especially feels bad when you see players that are obviously getting very affected by it, but aren't in the right state of mind to learn how to take breaks, calm down, or engage in the preventative measure that you mentioned (turning off chat) when it becomes too overbearing.

So it's not like you were in the wrong either, just took it to a bit of an extreme I feel.

Alright, so instead of crying on the forums, why aren't you sueing BHVR for not upholding their end of their own agreement? Instead crying to other players about it? What are you going to accomplish with that?

And again, it's not victim blaming or shaming. It's pointing out that people are making themselves victims. They are being targeted, and instead of moving out the way, they are allowing themselves to be shot in the face with toxicity.

You said it yourself, no one is helping you, so do it yourself. BHVR only cares to a degree. Obviously not enough to actually do what they need to to stop it from happening. Quit the game to show BHVR your disdain with their handling of the situation or quit crying.

Because I'm a student with limited finances who actually is willing to quit the game in temporary bursts when I get exhausted. Heck, I think I've quit the game about 4-5 already for 6-12 month periods at a time since 2016.

Don't get me wrong, if I somehow magically had the time and power to make BHVR take responsibility for all of its failings, I would absolutely do it. Heck, I'd probably do it just for fun more than a personal sense of justice at that point. Sadly, that's not the case.

I'd also re-evaluate what you think the definition of victim shaming is.

Victim shaming is when you blame the victim, even in part, for the negative actions that were directed to them by another party. You know, like saying they're a crying baby and it's their fault for not ignoring it when they get verbally abused.

To answer your question about what the purpose of "crying" is, it keeps awareness of the issue fresh in the developer's minds and (hopefully) one day will invoke a change.

    ---

Now, yes, thinking it will invoke a change is a tad optimistic at this point.

Still, it's the only thing someone who is passionate about an issue can do and I for one won't be the one to shame or discourage that. That would only imply we're okay with the situation to the developers, and again, give the toxic more power to continue on. Which is not something I personally want to happen.

So to any criers reading this, cry on! Know that there's people out there who knows it's wrong, and supports you as you speak out about it.

Y all are right that you shouldn't have to turn your chats off. Again as I had said, it's not ok that it happens. However this is not victim blaming. You have a literal solution to your problem, INSTANTLY. you can sit there and tell people how terrible it is to say what they do, but that's not gonna change anything. If you can not handle mean words, stop looking at them. Simple. The devs clearly aren't banning the ######### who say horrible things, so take the matter to your own hands and handle it instead of being children that cry about it to mommy and daddy BHVR.

Again, if you don't do what you can to fix your own problem, you have no right to complain about it. That would be like someone complaining about not having enough money to buy stuff, but they also spend all their money on useless garbage that they don't need. You are creating your own problem. Fix it, or hush, because no one really cares or wants to hear it.

Quit being such special little snowflakes

"Take the matter to your own hands and handle it instead of being children that cry about it to mommy and daddy BHVR."

If that isn't victim shaming, I don't know what is.

This is kind of what I meant by these views breeding self-centered views.

    ---

I get what you're trying to say - no one is going to help you, so you might as well help yourself. Right?

That would work better in most personal settings that deal with personal problems, but toxicity in a game like this is a societal problem in a public setting that is capable of being regulated by the paid entity who should be monitoring it.

Everyone here is paying for a service, which should be a regulated and safe environment to play in their downtime.

The user agreement every player signs that behaviour is expected to uphold literally states:

"eHarass, threaten, embarrass, or do anything else to another user that is unwanted, such as repeatedly sending unwanted messages or making personal attacks or statements about race, sexual orientation, religion, heritage, etc. Hate speech is not tolerated."

In that way, it is entirely justified for players, especially those who are being bullied, to reach out and "cry" to BHVR to uphold their user agreement and enforce the policies they have their users acknowledge and agree to prior to playing. Something I'd argue they kind of fail at with what I believe to be a lackluster discipline system and deserves an abundance of criticism for.

  • @Pulsar said:

Punish the people who are toxic. That's it. There's your solution. If people want to hurt others, they will. Turning off chats doesn't stop people who legitimately want to harm others.

In addition to that, people are naturally social creatures. Even hard introverts have some social needs whether they admit it or not.

I don't understand why people should abandon their innate social needs and wants to make room for bad apples who abuse the system and torment others. That's such a flawed logic, unless a world of tormentors is the type of world you envision or have surrendered yourself to.

It's exactly this mindset that breeds self-centered views of the world, promotes victim-shaming as stated above, and gives toxic individuals the power to take control of the system that ignores instead of corrects them.
