  • Not gonna lie, it feels kind of weird that survivors have the power to destroy killer perks entirely AND survivor perks entirely.

When does the killer get to have such power as a power role?

  • My money is on Austin Power's villain Goldmember as the new killer.

His basic attacks are leg strikes, his power is skating around on rollerblades, and his mori is to paint your yoo-hoo gold.

His knickname will be "The Crazy Dutch Bastard."

  • I'm on PC, and yes.

My first game is particularly horrible, with an abnormal amount of fps drop and lag regardless if I'm killer or survivor. Once I go into my second game (or third, worst case) things return to normal however.

  • People generally camp and tunnel because they feel it's necessary to exert pressure in the game, or because they find it fun.

Either way, there's not much you can do about it other than do generators. Your allies are a resource, including the time they have on the hook. You want to maximize that resource by getting your own objectives done as much as you can in that time frame and trade their life for progress. It can feel bad, but it's what you (and everyone) needs to do to tell killers that camping and tunneling won't be rewarded. Otherwise early and frequent save attempts will act as a reward system and say to them: "Hey, I'm not happy but I'm still going to reward you for acting this way and encourage you to continue doing it."

My advice is to get information-related perks (highly underrated in solo queue) like Bond, Open-Handed, Kindred, Better Together, etc and learn to abuse killers who camp and tunnel, and discourage them from doing it again.

  • If I gave you the middle finger, would that be toxic?

Some would say yes, because I'm telling them to basically "F off" in their mind. While others, who aren't familiar with this aggressive use, would say no and ask why it would be considered as such.

Crouch spamming, flashlight spamming, etc, are considered toxic likely because of other's experience with those actions being used to imply insults or derogatory abuse after a game. I mean, c'mon, crouch spamming is often referred to "T-bagging" which, by itself, implies negative actions towards someone that would actually be considered sexual harassment in a real life setting.

    ---

I personally try not to get offended by these things. But if people do, I also think it's not too hard to understand why they can be offended given that the actions are regularly associated with negative behaviour by actual toxic individuals.

That said, don't worry about it too much.

If you offend someone without intending to, just apologize and move on. If they dwell on it, that's unfortunate, but there's nothing else you can do for them.

    ---

I went into a rant about why actions are toxic, when the question specifically was about flashlighting at pallets.

My answer is still relevant, in that it depends on the person and not to worry about it. That said, I've never heard of flashlighting after a pallet stun (without click spamming) being toxic, so that's not a standard I'm aware of.

  • Despite loving his concept, art, and trailer, I'd consider Trickster their biggest failure so far:

    • His knickname doesn't reflect his game-play or character as well as it should
    • His power is bland relative to the roster before him
    • His power lacks meaningful direct synergy with perks

    ---

Note: The below describes Trickster in his base kit (no add-ons), which is how I feel powers should originally be designed for.

His knickname "The Trickster" is a failure because it requires in-depth knowledge of his lore to understand, and nothing about his visual character nor ability reflects the trickster part of him. Names should be clear, easily understood identifiers that represent something. In Trickster's case that doesn't exist without investigation on the users part, which should be optional.

His power is bland because he was developed to be a machine-gun version of Huntress with no twists or turns to him. You simply aim and hold M2. In contrast, Deathslinger was a great example of a new ranged killer done right. Deathslinger has one shot, and if he hits, you can make a decision on how to proceed (get a hit or break the chain). Trickster doesn't have any additional decisions or features to his ranged attack. Ironically, the guy named "The Trickster" is the guy with the fewest tricks in his kit!

His power is also bland in that it has no direct synergy with perks. Like honestly, what directly works with them? The Third Seal now that secondary hits apply it? Okay, but you're probably not slugging with this character so why does that matter? Meanwhile Trapper can have basement builds, Clown can have chase builds, Hag and Pinhead have item builds, etc. But Trickster? All you can really do is run time-waste perks on him like gen regression and that's that for an already relatively dull killer.

Honestly, I wish they gave him bouncing blades by default and let add-ons adjust what happens when they hit a wall. Do they bounce with increased stats? Do they shatter? Do they explode into paint and give aura-reading?

    ---

Which brings me to the last thing that really frustrates me with Trickster:

There's so much wasted potential for his character.

Honestly, just give him bouncing blades by default, let his add-ons change what wall interactions do and suddenly his name makes sense and gives players a more unique style of ranged game play never seen before! And if these changes make him too strong, nerf something. Instead, they took a character with a lot of potential and made his power and name both controversial and dull because of what I can only assume was laziness.

  • @Mandy said:

Dead Hard is not buffed first of all, it's now working as intended - it hasn't worked under dedicated servers as it was still reliant on the killers connection, whereas now it's reliant on the players connection to the server, so again whoever did the action first.

Also the blade wipe animations are not present etc so no time is lost. The only thing that I can see as a possible issue is that teh player screams as if hit, whereby they are not actually hit, and that's feedback that's already been sent back to the team (it's similar to the pallet validation feedback in that instance).

I mean, the change makes sense and I do think Dead Hard should have been changed to revolve around what the server determines as a hit. Even if I don't like it, I gotta admit it had to be done.

    ---

That said, that first sentence reminded me of the flashlight and pallet stun "bug fix" where killers could get stunned at any time during the animation. That was considered an intended mechanic being fixed at the time rather than a buff as well.

But I gotta say, when a bug lasts so long that people get so adjusting to playing around it, I'd hesitate on saying that fixing mechanic's affected by the bug isn't a buff or a nerf. It's definitely making a popular perk stronger than how it's been for a long time, so in that way it's more like an indirect buff.

I say this just in case anyone's frustrated with the terms, or feel they're being treated unfairly by having something they dislike get stronger with a denial that it is getting stronger.

Heck, to anyone worried, if this change did make Dead Hard actually statistically unbearable, I'm sure it'd get adjusted. This change might even help in that regard... someday, maybe.

  • Am I the only one who thought of Andre the Giant when they read this thread title for some reason?

Man, I loved The Princess Bride.

    Untitled Image

  • I want a spider killer so badly.

Imagine, from the start of the game, there's webbing and the occasional tunnels dispersed throughout the map. If the survivors are within x meters from the tunnel, they emit killer instinct, notifying the killer that they're there.

The killers power can then be the ability to traverse around the map using these tunnels with no global audio queue, and pounce out from them for an insta-down if survivors are close enough.

Outside of the tunnels, the killer can only throw webbing or poison to slow/disorient survivors in a chase.

For hooking, the spider simply drags them inside of a tunnel and drops them in. Then they fall from the sky attached to a thread, dangling, wrapped up like a cocoon, next to the nearest hook.

    That would be so awesome.

    ---

    I can dream, anyway.

  • I know it's not intended with the suggestion, but I can already see the memes that would generate.

A few seconds? My game takes like 3 minutes to load. Rofl. That is why the infinite loading screen was KILLING me. It wasn't so simple to just reset without wasting the day away.

    Oof, that sucks lol

In reality it'll probably take me closer to a couple minutes to fully load in myself as well, but I'm just tabbing out during that so I only spend time really going to the store and putting in the code.

I could only imagine the frustration though. I'm happy this infinite loading screen thing became an issue when I couldn't really play anyway, otherwise I'd probably pull my hair out for the same reason.

Rip to you and others though.

    ---

    Edit:

Actually it did take me longer than 3 minutes surprisingly.

I've never had my loading-in screen freeze before, but it did, and only finally unfroze after 6 minutes.

  • Good flexible option for those who prefer playing one side over the other, or are at least in the mood to do so at the time.

Positive change, great job - thanks!

  • Up to my neck in work today, but I think I can spare a few seconds to nab it.

    Thanks, wouldn't have known otherwise.

I don't think you do get a penalty for leaving during load in?

Oh I don't care about load-in penalties, though that would be important too.

I just wanted to know if the infinite loading bug itself is fixed or not yet. I know there was a patch supposedly for it, but I don't know if it worked due my busy schedule at the moment.

  • Wow, that's awesome.

I wonder if the infinite loading screen bug is fully fixed yet too? Too many group projects to play and test it out myself atm.

If it is, I'll actually compliment people who aren't part of the music and art team for the first time in awhile.

Credit where it's due and all that.

Maps werent disabled though, map offerings were.

You do realize the DC penalty got removed BECAUSE hackers kept people hostage?

Uncleansable hexes have been an issue since the inception of hex totems.

They didnt deny the NFT's, read the tweet again, they simply stated they gave access to the license holders to their assets. Never did they say they didnt work on it.

You cant really complain about hackers in general, there will always be hackers. The time it takes for hackers to be banned, sure, thats a complaint.

The halloween event is literally better than it's ever been, you cant really create a halloween event in DBD without creating an entirely new gamemode, and that gamemode has to fit with DBD's existing mechanics because otherwise you're essentially creating an entirely new game. "b-b-b-b-but halloween events in 2017 were good", not really, they were a nice change, but they essentially slowed games down to a gigantic extend that Ruin can be jealous of, gave killers the power to decide who does and doesnt get points, meaning you kinda wanted to only play killer in those events cus otherwise you'd be #########, meaning no one would play survivor.

As for the treatment of players, I mean, that applies to both sides. Lots of killers essentially holding games hostage with old Undying claiming they were "only playing the game their way". Or did you mean the balancing? Because the balancing was quite good. Yeah, annoying killers got nerfed a bit. But lots of killers got buffed. Spirit doesnt really need anything, really, she's still comparable to Blight, she's just no longer stronger than Nurse(considering all maps and addons, not just their basekit). Deathslinger does need minor adjustments to compensate, I am still kinda baffled why they changed his ADS movementspeed addons out of the PTB, they didnt really need changing tbh considering the terror radius is bigger too, but I am assuming that combined with M&A and the ADS TR reduction addon would have been a bit much. I'd argue against that, as I'd think that combination would at least require 3 slots now, while back in the day it only needed 1 slot.

As for the last 4 points:

David having a potato face could easily be due to a different issue that would need to be solved first, you might patch up the face and next patch have Jake with bee stings. Solving that issue would be worth more.

The names for the perks needed to be renamed due to license agreements, BHVR would be breaking license agreements if they kept the old names.

There have been plenty of things straight up removed without compensation, just like things being added without you having to pay anything for it. Pig's addon changes literally means you gained 1k BP per workshop grease addon and 3k BP per VHS tape without you paying anything extra for it.

As for the early removal, you can still purchase the outfits. It's a bit of a preparation leave for the characters so they can be removed fully on the day they need to be, because if they stick around after that day, they would be breaking license agreements. DBD never had to deal with removing things from the roster, so it's a bit clunkier.

There are issues with DBD and BHVR, but not all of them are issues because of them. Especially considering a lot of the devs want to make changes that the player base wants, but they cant because their changes have to go through the people who created the vision of DBD, and if they disagree, the change isnt put in. McLean basically pulled a "I am leaving, but before I leave, I dont want a severance package, I want these changes in the game" to get his changes through.

    Dang, you're passionate.

My post was mainly to highlight the list of problems this time around, and reflect that back at their current and past performance standards which I personally find lacking. In that way, due to the length of the post, I won't respond to the justifications you give to their mistakes or actions because you're entitled to your opinion on them. If the reasons you provide are enough to satisfy you into their allowance, that's awesome.

I'm mainly just happy to have someone who opposes my stance acknowledging the issues exist.

That said, I will admit I should have specified map offerings. But hey, just replacing one point for another.

    ---

For the NFTs though, they did have a strongly worded twitter comment that clearly implied denial which was later deleted. You can see it here:

1,460 votes and 238 comments so far on Reddit

    Followed by acknowledgement:

1,748 votes and 474 comments so far on Reddit

You can nitpick on their wording, or say they didn't know. Again, your justifications are your own.

I personally feel bad for the team for this one, because I don't think many of them did know or support it. But their higher ups did allow it and the first post demonstrates to me an initial denial (likely due to an inner lack of transparency) that turned into admittance, and I don't wanna let it go that easily.

    ---

The only other thing would be to specify that my stance on the new names isn't that I dislike that they're being removed, it's that I dislike the new names themselves. They don't really suit my style. But again, that one's opinion based. I'm only mentioning it because it clarifies the opinion that I can speak for, my own.

  • Didn't they cap the DPI on turns in a previous patch to prevent it from being a PC-only abusable mechanic, and re-introduced the 180 degree turns as a new technique called the z-flick?

Or am I just crazy? It's been awhile.

I agree it's frustrating to face though.

  • I mean I knew the conversion was inevitable, but I didn't have the time to order the welcome cake!

I hope you don't think any less of me, and know that I respect you and many other forum-goers as well.

Let us unite in the virtual DBD bond that binds us known as consistent disappointment.

  • This perk is fine, you guys are over-reacting.

Does it give both you and your entire team "We'll Make It" and a version of "Self-Care" that's more powerful than it's ever been in this game's history? Yes.

Does one person bringing this single perk basically mean you're giving your entire team the equivalent of 8 cumulative perks for one perk slot (SC and WMI for everyone)? Yes.

Does each of the perks it gives your team for free normally have an activation condition (unhooking) or a downside (reduced healing speed)? Yes.

And does this perk allow you to bypass these normal perk limitations to create super versions of them for free? Yes.

But you have to remember it's constrained to totems that take 14 seconds to bless, and that killers can extinguish it freely.

    ---

Now sure, 14 seconds to effectively give your entire team unconditional access to 8 super perks for one perk slot sounds overpowered, but think about it this way.

The killer can temporarily disabled that totem if they can find it, by deciding to take their much more valuable time locating and destroying it. Meanwhile the pitiable survivor needs to use a little more of their much less valuable time re-establishing it in the next key location of their choosing.

    ---

So overall, after thorough evaluation and contemplation, I would have to say this perk is really messed up and gl to you hit and run killers in particular. Sucks to be you.

Wait, I play Ghostface and Legion... Son of a-

  • Since the games release in 2016, it's been a back and forth between the "do better devs" and "cut them some slack" threads.

I, like many others, was in the "cut them some slack" group many years ago. Then repeated PR and technical blunders slowly molded my opinion into pure cynicism in regards to their performance.

I'm happy to see the cycle continues with newer players, and welcome you to the "do better" side when you're ready.

Wraith may just be an issue of...whatever is happening with MMR. All I know is that I went from doing pretty decently on him to getting absolutely shellacked game after game. Regardless, the only thing that needed a nerf about him was his purple addon - if that.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2591375#Comment_2591375

I try not to give the devs too hard of a time, as nobody expected DbD to become and remain as popular as it did. Sort of a case of a moose winning a sportscar.

Until this patch though, it really felt like the game was in a spot where I could really enjoy it. I'm an...older gentleman, with crap reflexes and eyesight - and MMR meant that I'd be put up against survivors of a similar level.

Whatever's happened though, be it the removal of the DC penalty or the MMR system being suspended (I still remember when they disabled killer matchmaking entirely for months because red-rank survivors were complaining about queue times) - something is completely busted right now.

That's nice of ya, I personally can't resist drilling into them when they drop the ball.

Honestly I think it's because I literally grew up on multiple games they developed in the past (Jersey Devil, Bugs Bunny, The Grinch, etc.) and used to be pretty positive about this game when it first came out in 2016. Even if this game's success caught them with their pants down, there's just been so many public relation mistakes in conjunction with errors in general game design, balance, etc for the last 5 years that I think have just made me gradually more bitter.

Even then though, I still like this game and want it to do better.

Hopefully things will return to being fun for you and others (myself included) and one day we'll see less disasters akin to this patch.

  • I think the company is doing fine, personally.

They only had a few hiccups around this patch when you think about it.

    For example:

    • Game crashes related to their big debut perk (circle of healing)
    • Infinite loading screens
    • Uncleansable boon totems
    • Multiple maps disabled
    • People disconnecting left and right due to removed penalties
    • The original denial of being involved NFTs, following by a tweet saying they've been working for months with Boss on them
    • The outcome of the NFT images (LOL)
    • Long-standing members of the forum community banned or leaving
    • Lackluster Halloween event after claiming they're canceling all other events to make them better a year ago
    • Hackers ruining general gameplay
    • Hackers holding people hostage in games
    • Hackers interfering with the report system to bypass it
    • Hackers taking control of their discord, with people apparently being held hostage in there and hackers using the N word in these official channels
    • Terrible optimization problems, as per usual
    • The treatment of some killers this patch (varies from person to person)
    • Few to no response from the developers on any of these issues for extended periods of time

Wouldn't be surprised if I missed a few either.

I think they've done a pretty good job so far this time around.

    ---

Edit 1: Oh, forgot to add the following:

    • Terrible new character images (David's bee-stung face in particular)
    • The new perk names for the Stranger Things Content
    • The outright removal of the Hawkin's map offerings with no compensation
    • The early removal of the Stranger Things cosmetic store
  • No, I'm a coward when it comes to horror.

I can't watch or play anything scary without turning into a big baby honestly.

What I really enjoy a lot is comedy, and fortunately many B-rated horror movies and DBD fall into that category so I'm not entirely horror-deprived.

  • None escaped!?

I am speaking of maybes and could-bes, and from experience :P

It's extended about eight loops for me, so far, and shut down one. According to an article, haste for killer is 5%, haste for survivor seems to be a higher percent at 10 seconds - 40% Treats, 40% 'dull pumpkin', 20% Tricks.

Oh, found it using those numbers on Dead by Daylight Leaks.

It doesn't directly say the amount of the haste buff for survivors, but if I assume 5% as well, then that's +0.2m/s for 10 seconds, or a 2 meter advantage over 10 seconds if you get the haste buff.

If we assume the kick animation is as long as kicking Viktor (0.35 seconds), then it will cost you 1.4 meters (4m/s * 0.35s) to kick it than if you kept running.

So the difference in distance between getting the buff and ignoring the buff to keep running is 0.6 meters.

    ---

Note: That ignores any time spent running towards or away from the pumpkin.

Kicking the pumpkin is therefore only beneficial if you spend, at most, 0.15 seconds (0.6m / 4m/s) trying to get the buff.

It also only works 40% of the time.

    ---

In the worst case scenario though, if you get the debuff (assuming -5% speed)...

You lose 1.4 meters kicking the pumpkin, and another 2 meters from the hindered status effect for a total of 3.4 meters (roughly 1 second of running) from kicking it.

    ---

So if you're literally right on top of a pumpkin or pass it exactly as you're running and get really lucky, it might do something minor for you.

The vast majority of the time though it won't be worth it.

Might change a bit if you a hug a wall tightly and abuse the survivors wide hitbox while looping though, but I'm too lazy to go into that.

Still, neat to think about! Thanks for that.

  • The game is 1v4, meaning that in a perfect world the combined efforts of 4 perfectly played survivors should equal the efforts of the one perfectly played killer.

Unfortunately the world isn't perfect, and so survivors are granted a noticable edge to make up for human error in their individual and collaborative decision making. This survivor-favored game-play actually needs to exist to some degree since it is absolutely harder to work in a group than it is to rely on yourself.

The sucky thing is that the skill-cap for the core mechanics of this game (generators) is quite low and the player-base is also largely casual.

Because it's casual, people are more likely to goof around on a regular basis, requiring a larger handicap to be provided for the side requiring team collaboration. Because the skill cap for objective taking is rather low, it's easy for even relatively unskilled groups of survivors to take control of games if they want to get serious.

    ---

In short, as long as this is a casual game and the objective (generators) in this game is simplistic in nature, this game well forever remain survivor-sided.

But also keep in mind that a casual audience looking for a quick and easy thrill is their target market nowadays.

So expect things to never change anytime soon.

The haste buffs can actually make up for the time spent kicking in a chase - even to the point of being a risk-reward DH coin flip

    Bold claim.

Unless they released the stats on it (% chance to get haste, amount of the haste buff, duration of the haste buff, kick animation) I don't think it's worth debating that though. You'd also need to consider how much time you shave off running towards the pumpkin relative to taking a more efficient route, something that would vary case-to-case.

Overall, too much effort for me to calculate unless the stats above are somewhere that I didn't see.

  • Self-care takes 32 seconds to heal yourself and has infinite uses.

Inner Strength takes 22 seconds to heal yourself (8 in locker + 14 to cleanse) and has finite uses.

Boon: Circle of healing takes 30 seconds to heal yourself (16 to heal + 14 to bless) and has infinite uses. The boon also gives a 16 second self-care perk to your entire team, and reducing team-related healing by 8 seconds.

    ---

So the boon heals you faster than self care, has infinite uses over Inner Strength, and gives your entire team pre-nerf self-care and other healing buffs.

My vote goes to the boon.

"A novelty with no real purpose"

Says this about a video game.

You are a novelty with no real purpose if you really believe this about pumpkin smashing.

Believe it or not, video games are actually a method of mental stimulation. They help players hone reasoning, rationalization skills, problem solving, and more.

They're also often considered a form of therapy or escape to those who require mental respite.

Unfortunately, many people see video games as a waste of time because they aren't traditionally productive, but I'd say people's beliefs on that are fairly short-sighted personally.

    ---

That said, my concept of pumpkin kicking being a novelty stems more from it being a recycled asset (viktor/gnome kicking), paired with having no real reward or incentive attached to it.

You can argue it provides feel-good feelings, in which case I'll agree with you without argument. However I don't get the same pleasure out of it nor any other type of stimulation. The lack of reward or any benefit associated with pumpkin kicking for me means that, in my perspective, yes, it is simply a novelty with no purpose.

  • I mean, to be fair, the event doesn't really do anything.

Pumpkin kicking? A novelty with no real purpose.

The event hooks, generators, offerings, and add-ons? Probably cost you more BP than give you in the long run.

The skins from the event tome? Sure, there's a point there.

    ---

I agree they should extend it, but even if they don't at least there's no real loss.

  • Soon™

  • I vote for Wraith.

He's cloaked so often that they could make his TR music be 5-10 seconds long on a loop and no one could tell the difference.

That would help Behavour introduce something new even despite its current financial difficulties, which I could only assume exist given the failing quality of their product lately.

    ---

Cheap jabs aside, I'd love one for Ghostface or Legion. Probably Legion since Ghostface is a stealth killer normally

  • Holy crap, I thought this was a poorly made meme made for laughs, but nope. These are Boss Protocol's actual official NFTs on their twitter for $250 each.

I wouldn't even download these for free if given the choice, and I do have that choice funny enough.

No joke, I would actually openly shame anyone I knew IRL who bought one. Thankfully I don't know anyone who would.

Literally the dumbest stuff I've seen in awhile.

    ---

Edit: I just noticed the tweet saying:

"Behaviour worked with Boss Protocol over several months to adapt in-game models for use as NFTs and approved them prior to the release of Pinhead in DbD."

Is literally right under one of the NFT images.

    ---

I'm dying, send help. The laughter won't stop.

  • Ya'll are too critical of this rift pass.

    I think it's quite charming, personally. (I couldn't resist.)

  • Burn the witch! BURN HER!

Also I know that sucks, but I can't help but find that hilarious lol

The person who hurt you and ruined your fun wasn't the killer, it was another survivor.

Why don't you try to tell the surv community to stop DCing and leaving their party in the lurch?

This is actually kind of true.

Killers sign up for a fun game themselves, they don't sign up to babysit the needs or wants of others. If they volunteer to be extra nice when something goes awry in a game, great, but it shouldn't be expected from them.

The blame should rest entirely with the people who disrupted the game in the first place, whether that be the players who ruin on their own accord, or the developers who allowed that to happen in the first place.

  • That's always been the norm.

If you check the steam discussion forums (the medium used for communication prior to these official ones), you'll notice the same trend since the games release in 2016.

    It's never boring at least.

Wacky. Not suprising that people are starting lies and getting people scared to play the game. Its just an attempt to hurt the games reputation.

The issue is that the game is poorly optimized, hackers are rampant, and that those two things can be confirmed by basically anyone - even the people trying to dismiss the console-bricking claims probably can't deny those two issues with the game.

Pair that with prior bricking claims in the past:

This new update and "event" has completely bricked console players. It wasn't so bad a first just a couple of annoying bugs and game breaking glitches (survivors cant break lit totems sometimes) but now its even worse. Ps4 players cant even play due to the frame rates and as an Xbox player I've experienced frequent crashes (2/10 games crash when the trial starts) Frame rate isn't so bad as surv but its ungodly as killer. This new rift dropped and its basically unplayable. Please remove the DC penalty at until you fix the crashes.

Now does that mean these recent bricking claims are true?

No, but there's history and other reports of this happening to people prior, and they're been related to the current issues surrounding the game right now. So I do tend to be on the side of caution instead of full-out dismissing peoples claims.

  • Holiday pumpkin grenades where they explode into pumpkin bits and color the killers screen orange with goo. Basically flashbangs and blind status with new aesthetics.

Toilet paper rolls as temporary holiday items that you can throw and make a limited amount of tissue trails with. Even if the throw is short and uses diversions limited trajectory path. Excess TP can disappear when the trail reaches x amount.

Fun and interactive challenges where you have to poke the killer x number of times, or have to find a spooky shrine and do a silly halloween dance (temporary custom emote) for a bonus BP multiplier that game.

Actual generic festive decorations that you can place on every map's wall (like banners or something).

    ---

Four ideas off the top of my head, most of which use current in-game mechanics to provide a unique experience. I really doubt it'd be expensive or difficult to implement, and they could be reused inexpensively in future events.

I just feel like the current events they give lack any form of effort or imagination.

Seriously, if you devs are reading this, get in a room together and think of any number of silly ideas like these. Then pick the interactive and unique ones that are plausible with your current resources. Halloween is supposed to be your big horror event to attract and retain your player base's interest, it should be an experience.

There still isnt any evidence that anything has actually happened, let alone by a "hacker" through DBD.

This is starting to take on rather concering aspects of mass hysteria as I watch how this is snowballing in peoples minds as they pile on speculations, "think of the children"-style slippery slope concerns, and hyperbole extending to demanding BHVR do something about which we dont even know it has infact happened, or how.

    Is that so wrong though?

Whether or not it's true, the claims are arguing to improve optimization for users and take a more aggressive and open stance against hackers. Both of which areas that have been neglected for a very long time, albeit one more than the other.

For that purpose, I don't know why anyone wouldn't support it. Especially when they can't prove the claims false.

If you believe every bull you see online you might be mislead. Fried routers? Lol.

I know my game has been dropping some frames on occasion since the patch released, hackers have increased, crashes are prevalent, and a myriad of issues exist in the game.

The claims are kind of extraordinary, but if multiple people are reporting issues about the same thing (bricking), under similar circumstances (games with a hacker), on a game that's infamous for being broken with poor optimization, I actually do want to give them the benefit of the doubt.

If I ignore the claims, the worst case scenario is financial or property damage could happen to myself or others.

If I acknowledge the claims, the worst case scenario is I refrain from playing for awhile and the developers are pressured to address issues that have been going on for awhile.

    ---

In short, there's no benefit to dismissing these claims.

  • This is the third or fourth incident I've read about someone's console system getting bricked by games with a hacker in it recently. That doesn't include claims that peoples routers have been fried either.

    That's kind of terrifying.

I'm actually going to start warning people that I know play, to stop playing if it's a concern for them, even on PC.

Sympathies to those who have already been affected.

  • I tried blood favour a few times on legion, I liked it at first but then people started running from the tiles that get blocked off. I ended up dropping it because it started to do less and less the more people faced it.

Then I realized Legion's cooldown after exiting their power is 4 seconds. Survivors run 4m/s, so that means they can get 16m away from you after a frenzy hit. Therefore it will take you, if they run in a perfectly straight line, ~27 seconds to catch up to them again (16 / [4.6 - 4.0]). That's longer than blood favor lasts, and is more than enough time to get to a new set of tiles anyway.

    TLDR:

Blood favor is decent, but if survivors know to run to another tile it does literally nothing. Use with caution, decent for a surprise down early though if they're not attentive.

  • What, you feel something's missing in an event where they put a pumpkin in the map worth 8% of the cheapest 3000 bloodpoint item in the bloodweb, and let you potentially refund what you spent on your event offering if you do the event hook/generator instead of using the normal bonus blood point offerings for likely better benefits?

You think recycled prop-kicking, barely-decorated hooks, and recycled tome-style reward systems aren't enough to celebrate one of the two biggest events in the game?

You think it's uninteractive to have all your blood point rewards given to you at the start of the event so there's literally nothing else unique and of value to do for the rest of its duration?

Bah, what stingy people you are.

Next halloween, you'll be given a single leaf of lettuce and that'll be that.

Please, explain, how can I survive most of my trials if I'm the only one in the team doing gens and all my teammates die after 2 seconds of chase? Even if I loop for infinite time, I'm not going out if there is no one else doing gens. And I won't be able to do all 5 gens without being desturbed either, since the killer will eventually get to me after he is done with all other survivors (often in about a minute or less)

Some games you don't, and you won't.

The important thing is playing consistently well enough that you survive most games, and win most of your games. And the best way to improve your consistency is improving on your decision making and ability to play around map assets. Perks, items, and everything else are just powerful performance amplifiers. If you can't win consistently with them, that might mean your core mechanics and/or your decision making skills are lacking.

Even 4 man SWF depip squads will have someone die, or even lose a game on rare occasions. Which is a great way to show that regardless of who you are, you won't win 'em all, and you should simply just try to win as many as you can.

  • Contact support.

If there's anything at all that I believe the developers care enough for to never let go awry for long, it's anything involving financial transactions.

  • She gets knocked down, but she gets up again.

No, you never gonna keep her down.

She gets knocked down, but she gets up again.

Wow, you really couldn't keep her down?

    ---

I've no idea how you console players tolerate that.

I bet you have to drink a whiskey drink, or drink a vodka drink.

Or drink a Lager drink, maybe drink a cider drink.

But either way, I hope it gets fixed and you'll one day be singing songs that you remind of you the good times.

Definitely singing songs that remind you of the best times.

    ---

But seriously, that looks painful to play. Sympathies.

  • No joke, I think the best way to learn this game and climb is to use information perks almost exclusively.

Toss away exhaustion perks, remove DS, and get rid of anything else that helps you in a chase. Replace them with Bond, Open-Handed, Kindred, and Prove Thyself or Small Game and play like that for awhile. I guarantee you'll notice that you don't need to be running for saves often at all because someone else will, or that running into certain areas can be game-throwing. This will in turn will raise your chances of survival since you'll be making correct and efficient decisions more often.

I promise you, you'll become more aware of your surroundings, become more reliant on map assets to survive, and learn how to be more efficient overall as you play. Once you get that down, swap out to whatever build you like. The new skills you'll have that revolve core concepts and mechanics will make the stronger survivor perks even stronger to use.

    ---

And if you think you're already good enough that this strategy won't work for you, then that's wonderful. But then this post would be meaningless since you should be surviving more than half of your games quite easily if you're actually that decent at the role.
