I have spent so many blood points trying to get Monitor and Abuse but it's refusing to come up. I got the lowest level on him and haven't seen it since.

    That's honestly good enough.

Unless you care about the field of view aspect to it, the reduced terror radius is 8m regardless of what tier it is. I had to use tier 1 Monitor on him too for the longest time, but fortunately I only cared primarily about the terror radius so other than feeling bad about its tier and perk color it still suited my needs.

Field of view increased on tier up is a nice bonus though, I do admit.

  • I've tried playing a few games with him to work out his strengths, and how to play him lately since I like his design, and I can confidently say this:

He doesn't have a specific strategy and play-style that makes him good - he's just bad.

    ---

He can't hit people from long-range due to the single straight-forward shots and obstacles. (Play Huntress)

He can't hit people from medium-range reliably due to his low speed and high hit requirements. (Play Deathslinger)

He can hit people reliably at close range IF you're a good shot, but other killers get rewarded for this better. (Play Billy, Leatherface, Meyers, basically anyone else at 4.6, Huntress, Slinger)

He can't counter loops if the obstacles are high. (Play literally anyone else)

He can play around loops with low obstacles, but these are few and others still benefit from this more. (Huntress, Slinger, Doctor, Nurse, etc.)

He can play stealthy with his low terror radius and size, but others do this better. (Ghost Face, Slinger, Wraith, Pig, Meyers)

He can't contest objectives well with his low speed and lacking crowd control - Main Event is too unreliable. (Play literally anyone else)

He can zone you off loops/windows/pallets in some cases, but everyone else can do this way better. (Play Pyramid Head, Nemesis, Huntress, Slinger, Plague, Demogorgon, etc.)

He can't buy any time with his kit, because it regresses on its own and has no innate time-wasting capabilities. (Play literally anyone else)

    ---

At this point, the only semi-viable way I've gotten success playing with him is using going the stealth route with Monitor and Abuse. Get that first hit with your low terror radius and character model, then run them down with another M1 unless you're lucky enough to catch them in the open or at a bad pallet.

But at that point why not just play a stealth killer? Why not just play a better zone-control killer?

He just doesn't have anything going for him that makes him unique or stand-out in the game, which is ironic because he's an idol who wants to stand-out.

  • I don't care about rank, so I would still play.

However, now that all of my most used (non-prestiged) characters are getting all the perks I want, I'm feeling less motivated to play. Really makes you appreciate the grind at that point.

Tempted to press the prestige button, but it's such a waste with such little benefit.

  • Thinking on it, I'm still going to run Small Game over this and Detective's Hunch.

DH gives a lot of information, but its conditions and limit-time use deter me. I don't care enough to try and remember each totem spawn either.

Counterforce is going to suffer from the same issue I have with DH in that it has conditions to use the aura-reading (cleanse a totem), and will rely on me to remember that totem spawn to get more information. This is assuming no one cleanses the totem I saw with the aura.

The above issues get worse for me if I get chased when they proc, and I don't have time to absorb the information I'm given relative to my position well.

Small game will just always be reliable, and will at least remain my go-to totem perk.

  • Now this I like.

Where's the legendary skin that renames you to Dweet, Dwight's younger, less capable brother?

  • Hello, friends.

I am from the future, where I have gotten a full grasp and understanding of the auto-ban system.

I don't have much time. I've only come to warn you, and everyone else, that there's some important details about the system they didn't reveal yet!

    The system only dete--

  • I'm just happy that I finally have a good justification to yell "I'm on the boondock!" whenever I'm on the swamp map, on a dock next to a boon totem.

  • No worries, this game supplies me with ample communications tools to teach Dwight players on how to play efficiently (especially when they fail a skill-check).

    Steps to teaching Dwights:

Press 2 to wave them over to me

Press 1 to point at a locker

Press spacebar to get into the locker

Watch the learning process in action.

  • The following codes worked for me:

    250k BP + 1000 iri shards:

    AD800947-01A7-4DEF-81AD-40DDC501DE50

    10 Rift Fragments:

    ANNIVERSARYFRAGMENTS

    Edit:

Both codes were entered when the BP code was on their screen. If it's limited, rip.

  • I'm okay with this.

Can it be abused? Maybe, we weren't exactly given a lot of information about it to know for sure.

I doubt they'd be that short-sided though, since it would lose them a lot of business. As such, I'll be optimistic about the system and judge them when it's released.

    ---

No point complaining at the moment, unless you want to be a drama queen.

  • The video start timer is a bit misleading.

Check the video description and you'll see:

"Watch Dead by Daylight’s 5th Anniversary celebrations and Resident Evil Chapter reveal on May 25th at 1PM ET."

Meaning it actually starts in another 33 minutes I believe.

  • That's really odd.

You should have at least gotten a couple Deathslingers, Blights, and Wraiths as well - I see so many of those in red ranks lately.

Plague has also been popular as of late in my games.

    ---

Other than that, sounds about right.

  • I'm typically happy vsing anyone except Spirit or Bubba.

I guess facing Ghost Face or Trickster might be my favorite, but that's probably because I main those killers.

  • @dspaceman20 said:

I like the new wraith i think he is good and actually threatening. (I'm a survivor main). But I'm going to be honest I don't like his addons. All seeing addon is so annoying and completely destroy stealth. I would be fine with it if it had a downside to it but it doesn't have any. He doesn't need it anymore now that he is viable.

    Honestly, I kind of agree.

I think he's pretty darn strong right now, and even oppressive at times, but to a healthier degree.

The add-ons are definitely my biggest issue with him. If they changed the all-seeing wall hacks, and MAYBE (uncertain still) the add-ons responsible for altering his uncloaking bell noises, I would be completely satisfied with his current state.

If you're out in the open against Wraith, you'll be able to see him and get to safety. Even at jungle jims and shack where you can't see him, you can still hear his growls and his bell as long as you are attentive. So I don't necessarily call his hits free but nonetheless he can still catch people off guard with good affect.

Yeah, if I'm in the open and I see his shimmer it's possible to react.

But when I'm on one of the majority of the generators that's snugged between walls, trees, or other obstacles that block that line of sight, what then? The generator helps masks his growls, so paired with the line of sight blockers I find it difficult to see or hear him coming to be able to react in quite a few scenarios. It's at this point where it starts to feel like free hits. More-so if he has add-ons that affect the sounds of his uncloaking bell to make it impossible to discern where he is through audio signals.

It's not an uncommon scenario either, since hit-and-run Wraith targets you in those situations specifically and never chases. Meaning if I'm in the open and see him, hit-and-run Wraith just passes me by to do the above to someone else on a generator. Unless the nearby pallets have already been cleared by others, or he blocks one without my noticing, in which case I'm not safe even in the open when I can see him.

  • He's just strong now (I'd personally rate him somewhere in A tier, or high B), and people aren't accustomed to that happening so quickly.

Old Wraith's issue was sucking in a chase, and having a power whose strength was catching people off guard but was off-set by the weakness of not being able to capitalize on that surprise very often.

New Weaith's issue is still sucking in chases overall (albeit less with windstorm plays at pallets), but is very lethal when people are caught off guard since it's essentially a guaranteed free hit.

The frustration with this new guaranteed hit is that you can't really infinitely heal unless you have Self-Care. However, you can't afford to really do objectives when injured because he gets that free hit again if you do since you're almost always out of position on a gen. Even if you have a pallet or window nearby, he'll just block it, force you to run away from safety, and then catch up and hit you anyway.

The frustration gets compounded by the hit-and-run tactic where he doesn't chase anyone. At that point, you don't really interact with the killer much at all more than just end up accepting the free hits he takes on you and wondering when he'll come back to finish you when you're injured.

Even I'm personally confused on how to approach this hit-and-run play-style since I don't typically run self-care.

    ---

Something kind of alarming is that my description of his new power is akin to Spirit, in that you have limited interaction capability by not knowing where/how hits will be coming towards you. That said, I do still think hit-and-run Wraith has some counter-play; however, I'm just still figuring out what that is myself.

  • That resolution on the second video - how do people play like that?

Not even memeing, I had to hold my forehead because I was getting a sharp pain while watching it.

    ---

Anywho, just have an advantageous start at a God pallet with an infinite window on the other side of the pre-selected map and throw every map resource asap as you run between them to hopefully last a minute on average. If you get stuck at a pallet, just look for slight cues for phasing and make the right guess afterwards.

Got it, I'm on the road to becoming a pro.

  • Whoever they bring from RE, I just hope they exaggerate their facial expressions by a rate of 500%

    https://youtu.be/bOFDeWlCPmU?t=16

Then Quentin might start growing some self-confidence.

  • If you like a well-rounded BP build, I'd recommend:

    Bond, WGLF, Botany Knowledge, Self-Care

    ---

    WGLF is self explanatory.

Self-Care is used to get you a reliable source of survival points and encourage gunning in for protection hits. This also gives you one of the only reliable ways to get a continuous supply of survival points in the game.

Botany Knowledge is used to counter-act Self-Cares weakness of time consumption by making both your own heals, and your heals on others faster. You can replace this perk if you want, but it just increases your point-earning efficiency so much with this build I can't normally let it go.

Bond is for knowing where the killer is (to avoid, or get free protection hits as needed), know where generators are, know where totems can be, and for getting co-operative points easier.

Co-op points are the single most effective way for getting points as a survivor, even if the actions themselves (like doing generators in groups) are slightly inefficient, you'll gain a much high point/sec value for doing these activities as a group.

    ---

That said, no matter how good a build may be on paper or in others opinions, it can be un-enjoyable if it doesn't use perks or play-styles you like.

So feel free to tweak whatever you want

  • @justalilbit123 said:

Don't fall into the "efficiency" meme of running perks to allow you to stack on gens with others. True efficiency is having every survivor on a different gen. Prove Thyself is just a placebo effect because the gen finishes faster than if you were doing it solo. The problem is stacking on gens allows the killer to pressure all survivors just by walking towards 1 generator, rather than all survivors being on different gens which forces the killer to have to get hooks to get survivors off gens. Also, each survivor repairing a gen past 1 reduces efficiency, so it takes longer to finish all the gens if you're doing them all together.

Depends on what you're being efficient with.

Having everyone solo a generator is the most efficient course of actions if survival is your main purpose, because it's nearly impossible for the killer to react to a high distribution of actions and there's no penalty applied to single-person repairs. However, soloing generators is also the least efficient act in the entire game when it comes to point generation, yielding a paltry 15 points/sec (1,250 points in 80 seconds).

If someone's main objective as a survivor is getting capping out on points, or otherwise getting the highest score as consistently as possible, then it is by far more efficient to work together to achieve that as opposed to alone. Even working with one other person on a generator will increase your point generation to 69 points/sec (3,250 points in 47 seconds), which is nearly 5x what you'd earn alone.

  • Clearly the chapter after this will revolve around the hit popular series Scooby-Doo.

    How do I know this?

Because I want it. Don't take this away from me -I might cry.

  • Personal favs:

Efficiency build - Bond, Open-Handed, Kindred, Small Game

Support build - Bond, Autodidact, Prove Thyself, Small Game

BP farming build - Bond, WGLF, Botany Knowledge, Self-Care

  • Okay, serious question:

What the heck is Burger King Meyers, and why have I never heard of this before?

I'm legitimately picturing Meyers running around with the BK mask on:

    Untitled Image

How would this not be awesome?

    ---

    Edit:

I googled. Wow, some people are masochists

  • I mean, I don't think it would be that much worse.

Sure, survivors can then DH when otherwise they may not have in that scenario, but non-DH users are infinitely more screwed since they're now injured on top of being one shot. The groans, moans, and constant bleeding would make hiding much more difficult as a trade-off.

The trade-offs to this change aren't significant enough for me to really care about encouraging it or discouraging it though honestly.

    ---

Wait, come to think of it I don't use DH myself...

This is a terrible idea! DH will be everywhere! I cannot advocate such senseless changes at my - I mean, the killers, expense!

    Absolutely terrible.

  • I absolutely despise this perk for one reason:

It stops me from taking advantage of the fact I often spawn next to survivors near a generator. Do you have any idea how many co-op points you just robbed me of!? They never follow me to another a generator either...

But then I remember I run small game, and you just gave me the time to kill all of those totems and still get objective points later.

    ---

But still robbing me off those free co-op points early is just mean man - stop it.

  • Meee!

I've never played the RE series (I'm a coward when it comes to horror games), but I've admired the series from afar and looking forward to it!

  • You have to ask yourself: "What about death threats and slurs are toxic?"

It's never the words themselves, words are artificially created sequences of sounds that are used in order to convey a meaning to another person. Instead, it is the meaning conveyed by those words that becomes offensive as it can signify when someone has negative intentions or thoughts towards that person. It is from those negative intentions that someone then feels bad, and/or becomes provoked into having hostile reactions.

Teabagging, clicking, tunneling, slugging, and camping can all be construed as toxic behaviour because they are non-verbal methods of communicating negative intentions towards another person.

Even worse, because these actions are so vague, it leaves the receiver of such actions to speculate on their meaning rather than understand the exact meaning of the actions intended. This can create misunderstandings of the purpose or severity of the negative intentions of the person, and likewise raises the likelihood of hostile reactions from others.

This idea is compounded further by the fact that in-game actions with hostile intentions are harder to detect by punishment systems, which means that toxic individuals are more free to use them for that purpose. This undetectable form of online abuse (yes, abuse) then becomes used more for those negative purposes, and continuously reinforces the idea that those in-game actions used by those toxic players are toxic in themselves.

    ---

That said, I don't think the DBD community is as toxic as some people say. I've actually noticed (at least in NA-related servers) a decreased level of actions that could typically be construed as toxic behviour. Some do still exist, however, but there's always gonna be a few jerks in every community unfortunately.

  • Please people, remember that most of the Dwights this person is selling were NOT acquired humanely.

We Dwights are timid creatures with feelings.

We are meant to be free-ranged souls, to be admired from a distance as we graze near our personally selected lockers. Approaching even one of us in the wild results in us quickly withdrawing into said locker, which can then unfortunately be locked tight by a Viktor until auctioned off. We are not allowed to leave the locker until sold, and that can have a negative effect on our mentality by dissuading us from using them for safety again in the future.

As a Dwight player myself, I feel it is necessary to speak out against the slavery of my fellow locker-huggers, and the treatment we endure prior to sale. I also wanted to bring light to the employment of children in this trade (Viktor), which is also morally distressing.

Do the right thing instead, and give Dwights every hatch you see in-game as both a killer and a survivor.

I seem to be quite lucky with my Ruin spawns, it usually lasts long enough to do some good damage. (Hopefully I’m not jinxing myself with this! 😁)

I honestly think a lot of people underestimate how strong it is in the right hands. It makes sense that people don’t like to run it due to the RNG aspect though.

Totem spots have actually really improved lately, I've been seriously impressed with some of the ones I've seen even on old maps as well as new ones. It can make a lot of totems survive for a decent amount of time that they really shouldn't be dismissed as good perks as often as I see it happen.

In that regard, I 100% agree they can be strong.

That said, my comment was mainly an inside reference to the fact that I run Small Game every game. I don't care where it spawned, I'm gunning it (and every other one of your totem perks) out of the game asap.

  • I can already imagine the killer's zombie bugging out and being eternally stuck walking into a wall.

"My zombie's so stupid, it doesn't have any brains!" the frustrated killer would exclaim in post-game chat.

"Like master, like zombie" the survivors would retort.

    ---

That would be hilarious - good times for all.

  • The secret to countering this often feels bad, and no one likes it, but here it is:

    Do generators.

It takes 60 seconds to move between hook stages, which is basically one generator per person. If that killer wants to camp or proxy camp, let them waste a full minute of their time and just keep on a generator. Given that there's typically a chase beforehand, you should be able to complete your generator before going in for the rescue in that minute before they get to the second stage. Heck, depending on the chase length prior, you might even get two generators done per person in that one hook phase!

Sadly this plan, and camping's only counter, just gets harder to do when people don't realize that early saves vs campers are actually extremely detrimental to the team and rob yourselves of that hook time. In that case, curse your team for being self-destructive because that's exactly what they are.

    ---

This is also why I recommend Kindred (especially with Open-Handed).

It helps communicate when someone's camping like this, and lets you know what the killer does when someone else is on the hook so you can make more informed decisions. Though, it also makes it more frustrating when you see allies trying to rush a save and rob your team of up to 60 seconds of hook-stage immunity - especially when they get re-downed or trade hooks as a result.

  • Ruin is incredibly game-changing when active.

It's a disgustingly strong perk that, when paired with proper gen or general map pressure, can absolutely prevent the survivors from doing their objective. This is especially true when it's only 1-3 generators remaining, and with less people alive - it can be crippling in those scenarios!

Why, a simple 16 second heal away from a generator will cost you at least 10% regression on it with ruin.

    ---

Too bad it doesn't last more than 15 seconds when I'm in a match, nor matter all that much anyway when you're already snowballing.

Ultimate cosmic power, itty-bitty living space and all that.

    But hey, them's the breaks.

  • I agree.

It's bad enough there's rats on the coldwind maps, but cockroaches and other bugs!?

Not even lockers could save me...

  • Tentacle Kate hentai!? Well, I mean, it wouldn't be the worst idea...

    ...

Wait, there's gonna be Dwight hentai too isn't there?

    RISE, ALLIES!

We must not allow the sacrilegious defilement of our precious avatars!

  • As a player since the 2016 era where conversations took place mainly in the steam discussion forums for the game, I can tell you with full honesty that - nothing - has changed in regards to thread topics and conversation styles.

It's not like the balance team hasn't done anything either. It might have taken them a few years but infinites are gone, original DS is forgotten, and more. It's just that a lot of people play this game at this point, people get passionate, and everyone wants to share their opinion. Even if you convince one person to calm down, another will take their place without knowledge of their predecessors, and the cycle continues. It doesn't help that unsatisfied individuals are more likely to express themselves publicly than the happier individuals, giving the illusion of high toxicity when in reality it's just some stray individuals who want to be heard more than the majority.

You could worry about the state of the forums, and call people out on it, but it'll never stop the cycle.

It's better just to crack a joke here and there at their expense and enjoy the ride honestly.

    ---

Or you can go mad reading some of the comments, either way it's entertainment to me!

  • I'm guilty of doing this purposefully on occasion.

If I'm on death hook and I know you aren't, I honestly don't care about your (or even the teams) well-being enough to avoid you. I will gladly deliver the killer to an objective in hopes that he'll branch off, hit the person on the generator, and I can take over or run to safety in their stead. Heck, it's one of the many reasons I run Bond + Open Handed. Don't worry though, I'm not doing it out of spite or to help the killer - I just value my life over the teams at that point.

But don't worry, I'm more than willing to run to your aid if you're on death hook and I'm not.

I might be an arse sometimes, but I'm a fair one.

  • I have faith in the developer team that they'll do the RE series justice with their newest chapter.

    ---

Unless... maybe Trickster was the RE killer, but one which was not added to the franchise yet. This upcoming anniversary will just be a giant advertisement for the newest RE game, which will reveal our flamboyant Korean pop star as RE's newest core antagonist.

    Oh God.

That means his namesake came from the fact that his entire chapter was a trick and all of the hopes we had for this upcoming RE expansion is doomed to fail and become food for the developers, whose real identity is the entity!

It's all a disaster! The chapter's a failure, and we're doomed to cry and feed the developers our destroyed hopes for the future!

    AHHHH!

    ...

Nah, I'm sure they'll do fine.

  • I hope not.

In times of despair, I'm known to flex my Dwighty locker charms into a free escape now and then. I wouldn't want to be doing so at the detriment of my homicidal benefactors.

  • This video wasn't a surprise at all, and I'm kind of disgusted that it's being used as a demonstration of how to counter-play a Spirit.

Ace is a chick magnet by nature - constantly drawing in the gals, all of which wanting to take him down ASAP.

Spirit is no exception to this.

    ---

If you really want to counter Spirit, use Nea.

The poor killer will be too terrified to approach, never-mind hit on her.

  • When I compare myself to some of my teammates, I sometimes think I should be above red ranks.

If I had to rate myself between 1-20, however, I'd put myself around a 5.

I can't 360 and definitely over-rely on pallets in a chase since my window game isn't the best. While I've still run killers around enough to be very upset with me, my lacking skill in this area is my biggest flaw. I can also find myself out of position more times than I like, and rarely create pre-determined pathing options when doing objectives. In contrast, I feel the most confident in my ability to make good decisions quickly and always act with efficiency in mind - which is also the reason for my high-ish personal rating.

    Edit:

I'm rank 1 using the current system for reference.

  • It's not an end-all solution, but I advise running Kindred if you play solo.

With the current flawed matchmaking especially , I make it my priority to give teammates as much information as possible. Heck, I even use Kindred with Open-Handed in a lot of my builds. It's not just me being a nice guy, but more-so me trying to encourage timid players to play intelligently and with more confidence.

Granted, some games they don't even use Kindred's information which is even more frustrating but it is what it is.

Edit: On second thought... killing people is one thing, but I could never mori/kill an animal.

    What a sad thought.

  • I just want a map where everything looks like sunshine and lollipops, but periodically shows the grim reality of things when hit/hooked/in distress.

It would be similar to the world from that "Meet the Pyro" video from team fortress.

  • You can actually get all of those stats from the wiki here:

Adiris or "The Plague" is one of 23Killers currently featured inDead by Daylight . Don't ask me why it's not in the game if the values are all public there anyway though - I have no idea.

Edit: Just hover over the "slightly/moderate/whatever" wording for each add-on to see the exact value it adds or removes.

  • While I can't say for sure they're a good addition to the game or not, I will say this:

If you're addicted to kicking down doors, be careful.

Breakable doors can be a huge waste of time if done carelessly, so remember to exercise this right with moderation. If you can't control your impulses, I'd suggest seeking out a DPPA group (Destruction of Private Property Group) to help you curb the urges.

    Good luck, friend.

  • Lately?

A hag downed/hooked two survivors at the same time, somehow, across the map for me at the start of the game (I blame matchmaking). The third survivor immediately gets chased. I run over for damage control and save the two hooked individuals, and heal everyone up. The survivor being chased went down into the basement. The other two, immediately after being rescued, swarmed the basement to rescue her.

It was not a fun game.

  • Yeah, it sucks.

Lately I've been getting frustrated too. My wait times are so long to get games of such poor quality that I'm playing damage control more than actually enjoying the game or my builds. I wish I could say it's just because of the failed rank reset, but although that might have made it worse I've still been enduring these types of games for quite awhile myself.

Trying to hang out, but I might take a break until matchmaking is better if this persists - it's just not a good feeling.

List of my games tonight if you're curious:

    G1.jpg G2.jpg G3.jpg G4.jpg G5.jpg G6.jpg

  • Better than mine.

    As a rank 1 survivor, I've gotten paired with rank 6, 8, 14, 16, and even a couple 20s tonight.

It would be an interesting experience if it weren't so common

  • Okay, serious suggestion though:

If a vampire killer was made, I'd love it to be 115% with a secondary power to turn into bats and phase through pallets and windows (albeit gets slowed while phasing through).

Its main power would be charged with blood, similar to Oni. Once full, releases a flash of light that forces survivors in his terror radius to walk towards him for x seconds. Survivors that look at him during the power walk towards him for double duration.

You'll know how charged his power is based on the colour of the sky/moon. The closer to charge, the redder everything gets.

Something like that would be neat imo anyway
