Plaything Pentimento is the better combo for most killers anyway.
Not a big deal
I used to use Plaything, Pentimento, Thana and Third Seal. The main goal was to get Third Seal on everyone and keep it on. The other 3 perks were just to make it hard to figure out which one was my Third Seal and offer it a bit of protection.
-
@Roaroftime said:
Thana isn’t needed anymore because of the gen buff it should never been buffed stop being sad that you can’t make survivor solo q games miserable in that way anymore, but you can still tunnel and camp don’t worry plenty of ways to ruin someone’s game still you haven’t lost every option
I agree it didn't need a buff at all. But it didn't need this nerf either. This is very drastic. There are other gen slowdown and regression perks though. But I really liked it for totem builds. When I use a totem I actually like to get some use out of it and Thana helped with that a lot.
-
One thing that is being missed is the slowdown on totem cleansing. Totems get destroyed so easily and often and there are very few ways to protect them. Pretty much, Undying, Thrill of the Hunt and Thana. That's it. So this change really hurts totem builds.
-
@SaltedSnow said:
An easy fix to thana would be a slight nerf to max slowdown, alongside frontloading the value. Make each subsequent injure slowdown for less, but start out slowing more.
For example:
* 1st injure - 7% slowdown - total 7% slowdown
* 2nd injure - 5% slowdown - total 12% slowdown
* 3rd injure - 3% slowdown - total 15% slowdown
* 4th injure - 1% slowdown - total 16% slowdown
This means most killers can achive in 2 injures (fairly doable) what used to require 3, however the overall effect for killers like legion and plague are lessened. Another advantage of this is that healing is even more encoraged rather than powering through as the individual injures matter more.
This I think is a fair solution and makes much more sense than what they have decided upon.

its not the best idea but i guess you could run legions broken status effect add on but thats pretty much the only way you can make it work. and if it does only for a few second smh
It's not a bad idea and I have considered it because 60 seconds of broken does add value to Thana.
-
@ad19970 said:
I think they nerfed Thana in the wrong way, but honestly, I am just happy they nerfed it. It's definitely also going to be weaker on Legion and Plague. I just hope it will be enough for those two killers.
Meanwhile, it's completely useless on every other killer.
The other two perk changes are just bad though. And perks like Pentimento and Eruption also still need to be nerfed.
Even on Legion it's going to be mostly useless. It's really only effective at 4 stacks. One person heals or holds w long enough and you can't injure them and it is a wasted perk. 6% slow at 3 people injured is not worth a perk slot. They should not have buffed Thana. It didn't need it. Neither does it need a nerf this severe. Did they bother even trying it at it's pre buff max of 20%? Maybe try that FIRST before adjusting it one way or the other.
-
Personally I am loving the new patch. I reinstalled the game for the first time in two months. Some of my favorite killer perks got nerfed but I adjusted. Ruin and Pop got nerfed but I'm not disconnecting.
Survivors seem to be really overly upset about Dead Hard. I have seen many survivors use other very good perks like Sprint Burst and Lithe.
The devs did a great job on this patch.

Trapper, legion, Myers, piggy say hi. But alright.
I don't play Piggy but I play a little Trapper and Myers and I play a lot of Legion. Trickster is easily worse than they are. His power isn't that strong, like Trapper strong but with 110% speed. He's Slow AND weak. Just making him full speed killer would be enough of a fix.

@Dr_Loomis said:
I figured out enough to get his Adept. But he is one of the worst killers, in my opinion.
His blades can work simply as a way to panic the survivors. To use them effectively, high level add-ons are best used.
When a survivor is a tight area, like some of the corridors in Gideon, just bombard them with the blades.
Starstruck combined with Infectious Fright is handy.
So far my best map has been Midwich.

That's honestly good enough.
Unless you care about the field of view aspect to it, the reduced terror radius is 8m regardless of what tier it is. I had to use tier 1 Monitor on him too for the longest time, but fortunately I only cared primarily about the terror radius so other than feeling bad about its tier and perk color it still suited my needs.
Field of view increased on tier up is a nice bonus though, I do admit.
I'm beginning to think that Trickster is just not viable for me. I want him to either be faster or for his knives to drop people sooner. He feels just too weak for me to play.
-
@Beaburd said:
I've tried playing a few games with him to work out his strengths, and how to play him lately since I like his design, and I can confidently say this:
He doesn't have a specific strategy and play-style that makes him good - he's just bad.
---
He can't hit people from long-range due to the single straight-forward shots and obstacles. (Play Huntress)
He can't hit people from medium-range reliably due to his low speed and high hit requirements. (Play Deathslinger)
He can hit people reliably at close range IF you're a good shot, but other killers get rewarded for this better. (Play Billy, Leatherface, Meyers, basically anyone else at 4.6, Huntress, Slinger)
He can't counter loops if the obstacles are high. (Play literally anyone else)
He can play around loops with low obstacles, but these are few and others still benefit from this more. (Huntress, Slinger, Doctor, Nurse, etc.)
He can play stealthy with his low terror radius and size, but others do this better. (Ghost Face, Slinger, Wraith, Pig, Meyers)
He can't contest objectives well with his low speed and lacking crowd control - Main Event is too unreliable. (Play literally anyone else)
He can zone you off loops/windows/pallets in some cases, but everyone else can do this way better. (Play Pyramid Head, Nemesis, Huntress, Slinger, Plague, Demogorgon, etc.)
He can't buy any time with his kit, because it regresses on its own and has no innate time-wasting capabilities. (Play literally anyone else)
---
At this point, the only semi-viable way I've gotten success playing with him is using going the stealth route with Monitor and Abuse. Get that first hit with your low terror radius and character model, then run them down with another M1 unless you're lucky enough to catch them in the open or at a bad pallet.
But at that point why not just play a stealth killer? Why not just play a better zone-control killer?
He just doesn't have anything going for him that makes him unique or stand-out in the game, which is ironic because he's an idol who wants to stand-out.
I have spent so many blood points trying to get Monitor and Abuse but it's refusing to come up. I got the lowest level on him and haven't seen it since.

I would highly recommend watching Dowsey if you want to learn how to play Trickster.
Dowsey has Legion listed as one of the worst killers in the game and has Trickster labelled a solid C tier killer. I now believe that missing more than a few crayons out of the box and wouldn't trust anything he said after that.
-
@latigresa said:
You'll get a lot of value from monitor and pop because he's slow. He's lethal in most places on the map with 2 exceptions; shack and TL walls. Treat pallets and vaults like pyramid head. You will get a lot of hits and injuries at those. Avoid mindlessly holding his daggers at the ready because you move even slower. Its better to chase until close and then switch to his daggers, like plague.
Monitor is one I figured would be very good on Trickster. The 110% speed really, really irritates me though. I generally don't like 110% killers at all and finding out he is one was really disappointing. I might not have bought him if I had known that. I deliberately went in blind and it never occurred to me that he could so slow for no good reason.
-
I think I am going to really need Monitor and Pop on him. I have Thrilling but I feel like I need really strong on perks on him to have a chance and i don't have them yet.

Yup. I would down vote this one as well.

@DaKnight I had a Meg do the same to me with a Freddy. He couldn't find me so he picked her up and kept dropping her so that she could bring him to me and she did. Then to top it all off they thought that they were actually good at the end game chat.
Imagine being so desperate to find someone that you use another survivor to find them now that's sad, to me at least lol.
Sometimes you dislike one survivor more and want to make sure THAT ONE doesn't get out alive.

Because nobody knows how it will play out, not even the devs. So why don't we give it a chance before we start kicking our dogs out of frustration? If it doesn't work out for you, go outside and get some sunshine or play a different game this weekend. I've really been enjoying another play through of sekiro, highly recommend it. It will be back to normal on Monday. Not the end of the world.
I played a lot of League of Legends and Among Us instead.

Badham seems to be bugged right now and it has increased odds, but you also don't need bloodlust on this map. Neither you need it on Macmillian.
The only ones I agree bloodlust helps a bunch are Haddonfield and Midwich, but these maps sucks but it makes no sense keeping this mechanic just for these two.
I got Badham 3 times in a row the other day. That is 3 times too many for me. I dc's on the last one and did something else.
You do need bloodlust on the new MacMillan maps. RNG sometimes spawns some ridiculously strong window loops.

I use moris because they are fun. I know they aren't balanced, and I don't care.
I don't use keys because they aren't fun for me. Unless the killer is right there, and its a narrow hatch escape, keys aren't rewarding.
I tunnel hard all the time. It's more efficient to get someone out early than it is to just try to hook all of them one by one. Find the weak one and tunnel them into oblivion.

Once bloodlust is back you should see a few more killers and a shorter queue.

Do killers ever play games to have fun or is it only possible for killers to have fun if they get a 4k every game? I'm a survivor main but I know some killers are stronger than others. I still play the ones I want to because it's fun. It's pretty dramatic to think killers will never be played again if bloodlust is removed.
You really have to get kills to rank up. I have had games where I had a 4k in hand but decided to be nice and give the last player the hatch and I didn't pip. I feel like I was being punished for being nice.
-
@Claudette_Baguette said:
You should NEVER rely on bloodlust, and for new killers this band-aid mechanic is NEGATIVE because they will never learn to properly chase, learn tiles and catch survivors with their own skill. As a killer and survivor main I hope bloodlust will be gone forever soon.

Than killers wonder why it's so strong. STOP TUNNELING
I tunnel MORE because of DS. I assume everyone has it and tunnel them extra hard to force them to use it early. If you have it I want you to use it at 5 gens or 3 gens and not at end game. And once you use it and don't haver that crutch anymore I'm going to tunnel you out of the game. I play meaner to compensate.

I did. I'm planning on playing survivor for the first time today, Might as well get some survivor challenges done while killers are nerfed.

Long story short, nobody likes denial. That's all Doc is about: Denial. Denying stealth. Denying healing. Denying generators. Denying pallets. Denying windows. Denying exit gates. Everything Doc does is about removing an ability from the survivors already-barren arsenal. It's pretty understandable that people hate him.
Personally, I just hate that his add-ons are so ridiculously strong.
The funny thing to me is that Doctor is so weak in certain areas. No mobility like Nurse or Hag or Billy. No 1 shot down ability like Billy or Bubba or Oni. No range like Huntress or Slinger. For all the things they can do they are still an m1 killer with normal speed.
-
@lagosta said:
The only thing I don't like about Doc is not an issue with the killer it's the strange interaction between Deep Wounds and Madness and how the latter takes precedence over the former. If I stop to snap out of it, the deep wounds clock starts ticking and it's not always possible to finish before being in the dying state.
I don't play survivor so I didn't know that was a thing. And it seems kind of terrible.

I really don't understand why so many people tryhard against survivors who literally don't try at all. I just played against a hag that tunneled and mori'd everyone in a three-man at five gens, after someone dc'd. Rank. If you want to rank up or maintain a high rank you need kills. I don't even give hatch anymore because it can make the difference between my pipping or my safety pipping. I can't afford to be nice, fool around or have mercy. I am punished too much.
-
@lazerlight said:
I'd say, DS should deactivate if you touch a gen, hide in a locker, or enter the exit gates.
This'll prevent cocky survivors from doing gens and getting in lockers, and it'll stop cheap decisive escapes.
Not bad suggestions but DS needs to be tuned somehow.

@Yords said:

DS is definitely not in a good spot.
It is way too powerful for survivors and there is no counter to it, and no slugging someone who has it is not a counter. Survivors know how powerful DS is because they know for one minute, that they can do whatever the hell they want. They can sit on a gen and look at you in the eyes because they know you are helpless in this situation. It lasts way to long for their own good and is sometimes run by every survivor. One person could bring DS or no one could but if anyone is an obsession, then the killer pretty much has to assume they have DS, if they guess wrong and pick up a survivor with DS they will most likely lose afterwards unless they are already winning.
60 seconds is way too long. I just try to tunnel survivors harder earlier in the game and force them to use it. The sooner they use it up the better.
-
@dratec said:
Screw that. 100% of the games can't use it because every killer has more and especially ebony more. They drop every level. So easy to get. 1 hook game overs are bs

"And yes in end game I don't think a survivor needs extra protection from being tunneled. The gens are done, all they and their teammates have to do is focus on getting out. They no longer need DS."
Wow... Just wow. Sounds more like you got many 4 escapes in a row and now you want to play unfair as possible to get your one kill. You could learn to kill a survivor before all gens are finished.
Actually I get more 4k's than 4 escapes. I usually tunnel more because of DS to get it out of the way earlier. I try harder now to make them waste their DS in the early game so they have nothing left when I kill them. If DS wasn't an issue in the end game I could take it easier on them.
-
@ILoveDemo said:
Ds don't need a Nerf. Just eat ds early If you don't want to deal with it later. And you said it alredy "After 5 gens...The game is basically over"
So? Does that mean the survivor don't deserve a escape and you can Tunnel and Camp him out of the game?
Oh and Pop needed a Nerf because the Killer had to much time for other things.
Ds ist in a pretty good spot now.
DS gives a survivor too much time for other things as well. You can get off a hook, get healed, help complete a gen and still have time left to give a killer a good stabbing. DS is over tuned currently.
And yes in end game I don't think a survivor needs extra protection from being tunneled. The gens are done, all they and their teammates have to do is focus on getting out. They no longer need DS.
-
This game is actually more toxic than League of Legends. I had a survivor be extremely toxic to me in chat and bragged about being so toxic that they were banned from League of Legends. It's not a good sign that a game is more toxic than League.

Disagree.
Legion has a very easily definable win condition. If the Survivors heal, you almost ALWAYS win. With most Killer's, it is usually in your benefit to heal, unless you are extremely confident in your looping abilities (which is not the caliber I am talking about, hence why I said decent.)
Legion is a basic M1 Killer without ANYTHING to help him without his power. Against Survivors who loop at an okay level and who do gens at a reasonable rate, he is totally crippled.
However, he stomps at lower ranks, just like Doctor.
Doctor is a lot stronger than Legion. Those are the two killers I play the most and I play them in red ranks. Doctor is not a weak killer at all. Legion is much harder to play. It comes down to the fact for much of the game they are just an M1 killer. Their power doesn't help them down anyone at all. They can injure them and keep them injured but they have to m1 them to down them. Doctor's power is more versatile and his addons are stronger.

It's possible to win and win big but not enjoy it because it doesn't feel fun. DS in particular is annoying.

Personally, for me, it isn't. It is really nice to have, but it feels like more of a QoL change than something actively helping me.
That being said, feel free to use it, it may not fit into my playstyle, but don't let that stop you from trying it out!
Shadowborn is like Bamboozle for me. A perk I really, really like but I don't have room for in my build. If I had 5 or 6 perk slots then yes it is a done deal. As it is I need slowdown, I need chase and maybe a tracking perk. No room for Shadowborn. Honestly it should be the default FOV.

If all gens pop and you didn't kill one of them than everyone deserves to escape, 1k or 0k it doesn't make a difference that something you did was not right that game all you are doing there is just denying the killed survivor bloodpoints
And I disagree. If all gens pop and game is basically over and you get caught you deserved it. I'm fine with teammates going in for the rescue but it should still be a risk. It should not be a guaranteed save because of a BS perk. A rescue should not be 100% safe and end game DS makes it as safe as can be. Someone rescued with Borrowed Time and has Decisive Strike up is getting out. And there is nothing a killer can do at that point. There is no counterplay.

For me it is either super baby survivors dying in like 10 seconds because they don't even know how to drop pallets or people with borrowed time, iron will, dead hard, adrenalin, unbreakabill etc etc. with insta heal medkits and keys. Then 4 gens pop in like 3 mins. It has become just annoying and frustrating to play killer because there is so many things that has zero counter.
Like I am chasing dude for over a min and finally about to get him. Hit E then it makes it so he can get chased another 1 minute lets say I commit because 1 minute chase is already 3 gen pop. He uses his borrowed time medkit here we go again. What has this game become ? I can't play killer at all because of this bullshitery.
Watching people with 5k hours on game mega ultra killer mains etc even they fail against these teams EVEN though they make everything perfectly right. They gotta play the best killers just to have a CHANCE now these days.
I am waiting for the day where maybe any killer other than 5k hour streamers able to have fun wait a minute I just remembered even though they get 4kills they always complain how stressful and frustrating the game was. I don't even care about kills anymore just playing the game to get a hit has become frustrating because of all these perks and items that has zero counter. And of course some loops are just incredible that u have no other chance then hold W.
For the most part I am having fun as killer. I hate that even with Undying my totems get popped instantly because of incredibly crappy spawn spots. And my biggest pet peeve is DS after all the gens are done. The gens are done, the game is over. If you get caught after the gens are all done I don't think you should get your second chance per then. It is incredibly frustrating as killer to get a hook in the end game, friends get him off the hook and there is nothing you can do. He can just DS and saunter out the gate with time for a F you teabag on the way out.

There needs to be something in place against tunneling rather than borrowed time and ds, why do I get punished just because I chased you around for 4 gens...split off and get people off the gens! Even I know this as the killer. But yet there's that one guy that ruins your game by going for you right when you get off the hook everytime.
The way the game is set up tunneling is a very viable strat, sometimes necessary to get a win. As Killer you are in a race to kill survivors before they finish the gens and get out. If you tunnel one person and get them out of the game ASAP it makes the rest of the game much easier. Tunnel one person early can turn a losing game into a 4k. The game rewards that sort of behavior unfortunately. Killers tunnel because it works and against a good SWF sometime the only strategy is to bully the weakest player on the team and put pressure on them that way.
-
@bubbabrotha said:
People are saying it's the brain dead killer meta but, ruin only works if the killer is applying pressure. Immediately the opposite of brain dead. Tinkerer I can agree on as it doesn't really require input, but it's not very powerful. As for undying, just do more bones! Save a perk slot and equip detectives hunch, your team will thank you. Plus there is a 50/50 chance that you cleanse undying first.
Please keep this discussion civil, as I don't want to start a flame war.
Honestly the games I tried Ruin and Undying both got cleansed so early that I don't even bother. I'm still wasting perk slots on perks tjat don't last until the mid game even. Just do more bones and the killer is screwed. Bring Detectives Hunch or a map and you are good.
-
Actually I think Undying is trash. I have tried it 4 times now and each time it has gone first. All of my totems are spawning out in the open. I spend two perk slots to try and get Ruin or Third Seal to last long enough to be useful and have fun with the perks and they still get popped right away. If you are having problems with Ruin and Undying that is all on you. Survivors have all the control there. If you cleanse all the totems they are gone. if you don't then deal with it. That is thing I hate about these perks as a killer player. You have no control over the perk. You don't have any control over where they spawn and if they get cleansed early you are just screwed.
-
I'm a red rank killer and kicking gens just doesn't buy you that much time. I still do it more often than a lot of killer players but the regression rate on it is pretty miniscule.
-
Recently I played a game as Doctor on Midwich. First time I used Static Blast someone DC'd. Everyone else DC'd before the first hook. Game was under 2 minutes. And then in end game chat I was told "my brain is leaking" by one and "######### #########" by another. That video is up on youtube now.

you're forgetting the plethora of rules and questionable scoring system that led to alot of perks and killers being picked

Yes, the survivors don't get any points for unhooking and no bonus points for all 4 getting out so they have no incentive to go back for a friend. Which is not how players normally play. I would change the points to 1 point for each completed gen and 1 point for each unhook and 2 extra points if all 4 get out. Also the killer should get bonus points I feel for all 4 killed. Maybe 2 extra points for a 4k.
-
I know this is an old thread but it is still valid.
I used Distressing, Overcharge, Unnerving Presence and either Whispers or Coulrophobia on Doctor to get to rank 1.
-
To rank up as killer you need to get kills. You can get Iridescent in 3 categories and still not pip if you don't get kills. To get higher rank or even maintain their rank killers must get kills however they can. I don't even give the hatch anymore even if I feel like being a nice guy because I get punished for it. I had a game not too long ago where I killed 3 people and gave the last one the hatch. It hurt me enough that I think I didn't pip. So now I don't feel I can give any players the hatch.
Camping is not effective for ranking up but tunneling can be very effective. Tunnel someone and get them out of the game quickly and put the odds more in your favor. If you want to rank up there are lots of situations where it makes sense to tunnel. Killers want to win and have fun and rank up as much as survivors do.
The way things are incentivized currently for killers you are probably going to keep seeing it.
