The maps are too bright imo. It ruined the horror atmosphere that dbd had.
edit: especially for Coldwind. I thought the corn just needed a graphic touchup and just the textures in general, but the changed everything about it and now its *day time* in dead by *daylight*
Completely agreed. I was even joking that we basically play in Daylight on the Maps. Then they introduced the Coldwind-Rework..

if you get the hit - you deserve it since the game has led to you to believe you would get that hit
think again
If you would deserve it, it would not get validated.

I know it's a "fix" and not a "buff," but the thought process behind it baffles me.
It is probably the single most used survivor perk in the game, and it exists in a category of perks (exhaustion) which are meant to compete with each other but it so completely outshines all the rest that I haven't even seen Balanced Landing or Lithe for the better part of a year.
On top of that it's continually complained about because of how much it gives OVER its intended purpose. It's a perk that was always intended as a brief moment when the killer swings that you don't take damage, and instead is more commonly used at high tiers as "a dash you can use on demand to extremely lengthen the chase by reaching a window or pallet safely that you wouldn't have otherwise."
Now sure, it wasn't working perfectly in every situation, but it is the top tier of top tier survivor perks, and what do they do? Change how it functions with the servers so that the only counterplay which exists for it now no longer works.
It's like if they just decided "Oh hey guys, we're just making it so that you can't cleanse any totem EXCEPT the totem undying starts on first, because it was in every match but it just needed to be more painful to deal with."
Personally if I had my way, it would lose the dash forward entirely. Make it consistent to use in the swing animation if you must, but remove the option to use the perk in a way it was never intended to be used.
Bold to assume what the intention of the Perk is. Because, in fact, the Dash is mentioned first in the text, so if there should be a primary and secondary effect, the Dash aka the Distance would be the primary effect.
Also, only because DH is a commonly used Perk does not mean that it should not be functional, lol.

Survivor uses DH early: THEY'RE USING IT FOR DISTANCE HOW DARE THEY
Survivors use DH to avoid a hit but end up exhausted on the ground: well they were just too greedy with it
Survivors are bad no matter what on this forum
+ now nobody complains about Survivors using DH for distance anymore. Which is still the stronger use of the Perk and is as possible as before.
All I get from that is that Survivors are allowed to have non-functional Perks. And making a Perk, which was bugged for years, actually doing what it should do is a "buff" or "destroys Killer" or whatever.
-
Was twisted between Twins and Legion. Twins are a great concept but the excecution is very poor.
However, Legion is a walking design failure, always a weak Killer and almost killed the game in its first state. And with the current Kit, they need a complete Rework to have the potential to be a good Killer, since buffing them while keeping the ability to vault Windows and Pallets will probably not be possible.
-
"scandal". As I said last week, nobody is talking about that anymore. Which took a week.
@Topic:
We have 25 Killers, only natural that players dont use the most recent one anymore. I also did not touch him anymore since I prestiged him with all Perks. He is fun to play, but not as fun as the Killers I really enjoy.
Sadly, the only Pinheads I see nowadays are those who are using Engineers Fang...

From what I have seen most people are fine with the effects of the boons themselves.
People ARE NOT fine with boons being infinite/ lacking a cooldown.
Its old undying but for survivors and how survivors can't see that being an issue when old undying had to be nerfed for being too OP...
You would need to buff the effects if they are one-time. And then Killers would complain about the effects...
@Topic:
I completely agree. It is ridiculous that Killers complain about the stale Survivor-Meta, but when something comes up what might change that Meta, it is also not good. The only thing that the Devs might want to look at is that Boon Totems should not work vertically, e.g. if you bless a Totem on the upper Floor of The Game, you wont get its benefit on the lower Floor. I am not sure if that is even needed, but if anything, this is the only Nerf that would be acceptable.
And I mean, if someone is playing two Boon-Perks, they are not running BT/DS/DH/Iron Will or Sprint Burst or Unbreakable... Two of those are not used.
-

Nope. The boons are fine. If anything, I'm dying more often because of them. My teammates would rather keep relighting boons over and over instead of doing gens. It's ridiculous right now
I died because a David opened an Exit Gate to 99% and instead of staying there, he ran full Map (no Exit Gates nearby) to bless a Dull Totem.

100% agree. I just dont understand how they actually made it worse from the Lunar Event gens. Its a copy and paste event and they still SOMEHOW made it worse...
Yes. I dont even understand how they thought that the requirement to finish the Gen to get any BPs at all would be a good idea.
In general, limiting the Event-Gens and Event-Hooks only comes from the initial Hallowed Blight event, where the Offering was used to spawn more Crankers or Hooks. Which was fine, because then it did more than BPs. But since they only give BPs (which is from 2019 onwards), there is 0 reason to limit the number of Gens/Hooks to spawn.
-
Here is a list:
A little under a year ago, we announced that we would be bringing dedicated servers to Dead by Daylight in Summer 2019. Since then, our team has been hard at work converting the game from the existing peer to peer system. There has been a lot of discussion surrounding dedicated servers recently, so we would like to address questions or concerns you may have in this post.Granted, it is quite old information, but if I remember correctly, they never updated the list (or made any potential changes public):
- Asia: Singapore
- Asia: Tokyo
- Australia: Sydney
- Europe: Frankfurt
- Europe: London
- South America: Sao Paulo
- North America: North Virginia
- North America: Oregon
- Periodically enabling additional regions to test the impact on match quality
-
Nah. They would be super-weak and nobody would play them. So a "perfect" Nerf if you want exactly the same Survivor builds like always in your game as Killer.
I am not even using them now (I did not bother with Hexes for the longest time, I will not start using Totem-Perks on Survivor now, lol), but I would not even think about it if they are one time use.
-
The thing is, Killers always get massive BPs due to BBQ. This event will probably not increase the BP-gain by much, because BHVR is really stingy when it comes to BP-gain via Event Offerings. If only the Killer burns a Seed, a Killer also only has 2 Hooks to gain BP from, which is 6k BPs at max.
Granted, it is easier to get those Hooks than to get Survivor-BPs, because you need to sit on the Gen when it is completed. In my opintion (and many others) they should have made every Gen/Hook Event-related and just increase the number of BPs when burning a Seed. Also that you dont need to sit on a Gen to actually get the BPs. They did this with the Chinese New Year-Event and it was perfect.
When it comes to Anniversary Events, yes, those are as killer-sided as they can get. Not only do Killers get way more Event-Cakes (same with Seeds, they get more Seeds, because Survivors have so much Junk in their Bloodwebs, even when it comes to Event-Stuff... Yeah, Flashlights and Medkits are cool, Add-Ons kinda eh... But even a Medkit/Flashlight just increases the risk of losing it due to Franklins, from my experience), but only finishing the Trial with a crown is laughable compared to escaping with it.
Reason behind this is that they dont want Survivors to suicide on Hook after finding a Crown, but IMO it just makes it tiresome to get Crowns.
-
Not good, if the Nurse knows what she is doing. 3 Blink-Nurse should not exist at all. Yes, the Add On was bad before, but they should have changed it to anything else what is useful, but anything different than 3 Blinks.

It's techincaly possible. Most shooters do this. Its just that those interactions are more detatched than running up and hitting another character.
I mean if it would be possible for DBD. Because with a delay after any interaction, the game would probably feel very clunky.

@Junylar said:
The feedback is correct, the validation is wrong because it's survivor client sided now.
It is not based on the survivor-client. This confirms that you really dont know how the system works, it is server-sided. If it would be based on the survivor-client, you would not get any Hits through Pallets at all.
@Topic:
Apparently, this is not possible. BHVR prefers the instant feedback, because otherwise you would have delays. I would even question if it would be technically possible.

I don't think so, If they balance DH it will be more close to the other exaustation perks power, so to the contrary there will be more variety in survivors perk selection imo. But leaving that aside, this "fix" to DH isn't really a bug fix, it's a poorly implemented mechanic that shouldn't exist.
Everyone that played survivor has suffered being unfairly hit despite using DH it happened many times to everyone, but implementing this unpolished mechanic to a perk while the killers see everything unchanged in their pov its just trading ones for anothers, fairness to one side while it should be to both sides. And killers are already dealing with denied pallet hit VFX and sounds already.
About BBQ, it is overused yes but it has many counters and require you to hook someone to trigger it, it's not a just press E perk guaranteed to work.
You said "overused". So plz nerf BBQ. Dont add other things to it now when you see that your argument was not the best.
Regarding the Hit Validation - it does not matter for the Killer if they see the Feedback or not. They will not get the Hit. Even if BHVR spends time to remove this Feedback while still making sure it does not affect anything else in the game (which might not even be possible, given that they designed their game in a way that feedback is given immediatly), it will not change the outcome that Killers will not be able to hit Survivors just because those are exhausted on the ground (as it was for years).

You mean when they nerfed balanced landing to not make legitimate infinites out of drops? What exactly do you expect, if the killer enters a loop with a drop with a survivor and they have balanced landing they should auto-lose?
They should balance the Maps and not nerf Perks which are fine on most Maps, but get oppressive on some Maps. This only made the Pool of good Survivor-Perks smaller, the result is more players running DH and Sprint Burst. And once DH is nerfed, because Killers complained enough, you will have even less variety and more Sprint Bursts.
-
@DorkianBae said:
This "fix" just shows the problems with the perk.
Deadhard should only be used to extend chases or only used to dodge damage, not both. The combination makes the perk grossly overpowered compared to other exhauation perks.
Why did nobody complain about DH back then before Dedicated Servers? It worked exactly like that before, still nobody complained.
-
@JacksonWise said:
Great. ANOTHER thing killers have to worry about while playing. "Huh, I thought I hit the survivor. It looked like I hit them. It sounded like I hit them. Maybe it was dead hard. Or maybe I'm just boosted".
I mean, while it is true that most Killers are boosted, it is not that hard to get the Mindset that it was not meant to hit due to Dead Hard and just move on. DH is still the strongest when used for Distance (a thing people complained about, but now they dont complain about anymore, they complain about it working properly... ). And many DHs, which will be used to dodge a Hit will get validated, but do exactly nothing, since those are often bad Dead Hards which will extend the chase by 1 second.

Just for the future, if more purple Glyph-Challenges are released - the Aura of the Glyph is also on BBQ. Which makes it way easier to find.
-
The thing is, Killer players really grab each straw they can find. Saying "4 people can run Boon-Perks" contradicts with "It will be OP in SWF", because in an SWF, you will not have 4 people running Boon-Perks.
I really hope they dont change the Boon-Perks. While I am not running them and probably never will, it is good that after David some Perks are released which are actually worse running. (That being said, I did not see a single Circle of Healing yesterday, but this is a very small sample size, so might mean nothing at all)

Agreed. The invalidation mechanic could use improvement in terms of feedback to the killer that their hit was invalidated.
While this is true and I agree that the Killer should not get any Feedback, it will probably not happen. Because this is how BHVR handles this, you get instant feedback, without any delay. If they would add an delay, this would apply to everything and this might feel really bad.
Killers need to accept that it only counts as a Hit if the Health State changes and not when the Survivor screams. When I play Killer and I get validated (which only happened on Pallets so far and not really often), I am like "eh, whatever", because I know it should not have hit, regardless if I got this feedback or not.

What i mean is that survivors will wait until you are in the swinging action, then they use it and can not be hit.
It is still best used when used for distance. Which did not change at all. It just works as it should work.

The fact that DH wasn't properly working some times doesn't mean its a balanced perk or that it should exist and you know it. This perk is pure cheese, it makes other exaustation perks look bad, and it has been in the meta for ages. Its just press E to win.
Remember when the devs said that all over used perks need to be looked at? Well where is the nerf for DH? Meanwhile every killer perk that is over used get nerfed.. I can see the trend here, fairness and balance in this game are two unknown words.
Being "overused" is not the only reason to ban it. And I am pretty sure they never said it like that, can you link me that statement please? Otherwise, where is the BBQ-Nerf? I guess no Perk is used more often than BBQ, on both sides.
And I could not care less about DH, I am not using it as Survivor and I have no problem with it as Killer. However, I see that Killers complain about Survivors all running the same Perks while doing an effort to get Boon-Perks nerfed ASAP, which shows me that Killers only want weak Perks (or even non-functional Perks, like DH before this Patch...). If they really nerf DH at some point, there will be even less Survivor Perks to choose from, so the problem that "everyone runs the same" will just increase.
The number of DHs only was bigger after they nerfed Balanced Landing to the point that you almost never see it anymore.
-
Dont worry. If you complain enough, they will nerf it into the ground. But please dont open any "Survivors all run the same Perks"-Threads afterwards.

If I hit the survivor BEFORE he drops the pallet - the hit is fare. The hit validation just favors survivors, so almost no hit is "fair" now.
If it would favor Survivor, you would not gain any Hits through Pallets.
So either you dont understand how the system works or you just cannot except that those Hits you got before were simply not fair.

Doesn't it illustrate their priorities, though? Grabs have been broken since 3.5.0? Their recent band-aid fix hasn't helped, either. Now when grabs fail at vaults I just swing and hit the pallet or window. Before this bandaid fix, I could catch myself and avoid wasting the time swinging. Now I have to swing.
What stands out the most to me is that adding dedicated servers, hit validation, and pallet validation has all been done to help survivors. Killer got more attention this last patch, but a lot of those changes included nerfs that supported survivors, too.
"What stands out the most to me is that adding dedicated servers, hit validation, and pallet validation has all been done to help survivors."
Eh. Survivors got screwed over by Dedicated Servers in the first place. Neither Hit Validation nor Pallet Validation would have been needed without Dedicated Servers.
-
Ok, but with a change:
Either, Killers have to curse their Hex-Totem, spend 14 seconds on it and Survivors can cleanse it in 2 seconds.
Or
Survivors have their Boon automatically, but Killers have to spend 14 seconds to snuff it out and can be interrupted.

And yet Nurse bugs have been in the game for over two years.
Nice Whataboutism.
I dont think that Nurse will ever be fixed. Her Bug started when Dedicated Servers went live, so it is safe to assume that her Bugs are also related to Dedicated Servers. They needed a few years to fix 1 Perk, you can imagine how long it would take to fix the Nurse-Bugs, if they are related to Dedicated Servers.
(But she is not that bugged. I got more Exhausted on the ground-situations when playing DH than I get Nurse-Bugs. The only Bug I get sometimes is the one where I cannot swing after a Blink, but it happens rarely).

I get my hits, they just get rolled back. I play well and the game just undoes any play I make. Try to look at the world without your survivor-colored classes once in a while.
Nope, you dont get your hits, otherwise they would not be rolled-back. Those rolled-back Hits are those which you got but not deserve in the first place.
Just have the mentality that it was not meant to hit when it gets rolled-back and thats about it. You are not robbed of anything.

The survivors were always meant to be immune to any damage at pallets and at will with dead hard, even if they time it wrong and actually get hit before they activate the perks? Mmmkay.
They are not immune. You are salty that you dont get your hits at Pallets anymore by just lunging at every Pallet you see.
And in regards to DH... It is even in the description that you will have invincibility. And I dont even get why this is now a problem, but proves once again, Killers want Survivors to have weak Perks... Or even bugged Perks, like DH previously.
Killers complained about DH for Distance and it still does that and is still better when used for Distance. And now it actually functions and Killer players act like the world will go down. But as I said, just showed that Killers are fine with Survivors having non-functional Perks, but anything above it is a NoNo.

High-MMR-Killers are usually not scared of Flashlights. In fact, if you are high MMR, you will have a blast against a Flashlight-Squad.
I equipped Lightborn just for fun when I saw multiple Flashlights, because it is funny to see how Survivors still try to blind me, despite failing multiple times before. However, apparently you get the information that Lightborn is in play, so I did not use it since then.
But your idea is quite interesting, cant wait for Forum Posts which complain about Survivors quick-switching to not having any Items... <_<

Now that been said dh can also be used as oh no I feel for the killers mind game but ill dh to this window and reset the chase.
If you want to intentionally lose the game to get your Speed Boost, because you are not able to play Loops without 4% extra Movement-Speed, go ahead.

For public games a rule like this does not make sense and should not be implemented. You would gain more variety if Perks would actually be buffed to be worth using. But every attempt to do so is boycotted by Killers (see Boon-Perks).

Never. I have 6,6k hours, it would be a little bit ridiculous if I would cherrypick my Lobbies to get the easiest ones. That being said, I know a Killer Main Streamer with 11k hours who still checks every profile and dodges players if they have more than 3k hours...
I also dont care for TTVs, I check before if they are streaming and watch the VOD afterwards, but thats about it. Most TTVs are like regular players anyway, because they stream for 2 viewers or something like that.
The only time I dodged a Lobby was when I had way less hours and was in a game with a Legacy Dwight (some Streamer), a Nea with 5k hours and another Dwight with 8k hours. I had around 1,5k or something like that and thought "Ok, this is a little bit out of my league". But this was long ago.
