  • I’ve been playing the event since early afternoon and all my teams EVER ARE are fools getting in snowmen and trying to be cute. NFW are killers constantly going up against badass swfs. That is NOT what happens in events. Everyone knows… events are the joyous time of year when killers take pleasure in trying to ruin events.

I keep facing boil over/breakdown squads so I can't say I blame killers for tunneling and camping.

Lofl. Gimme. A fng. Break. “Keep facing”. The facts have already shown 4 man swfs are 5%. Amazing how much you killers exaggerate to try to prop up a broken system that’s HEAVILY in your favor.

  • Stop worrying about pips. Play enough and moving up is inevitable. If you don’t play enough then it doesn’t matter anyway.

  • I think some people have veered a bit off the original point… The game design is flawed so that the hook area is almost always going to give the killer a high probability of getting hits by proxy camping vs solos, which is the vast majority of games. Type B killers exploit this constantly and pretty much make it their go to strategy. If you play in this way, it may be sensible but its low skill. Type A Killers try to avoid this in my experience and just immediately leave the hook area for the most part. When you see players win without any camping in a fairly matched game, that’s generally due to skill. Of course there are exceptions and times when it makes sense to camp, etc. I’m just saying if you play Type B mostly you cant argue you’re skilled. If you pay Type A mostly, you can.

Recognizing the forced outcome that killers have to camp or tunnel if they want to win, vs actual good survivors, is a sign of maturity. I mean, do you think we just camp and tunnel because we don't know how to chase? We do, otherwise we wouldn't have got the initial down to even begin camping and tunneling. Here's the real 2 types of killers:

    1) The killer who knows how to chase, but has tried their hand at playing for hooks/chases for months or years, and has come to the conclusion that camping and tunneling is more consistent, so therefore they do it.

    2) The scrub killer who either tunnels/camps without even knowing the terminology or does it accidentally, or who hasn't learned to chase and just camps and tunnels because they heard it was the best strat.

The similarity is that both get destroyed by good survivors. You can be great at chasing and pressuring gens, but I've got news for you. That doesn't cut it. All survivors have to is be good in chase OR on gens, and you're most likely finished, because the gens go too quick for you to get all those chases in. When the survivors are good at both, there's literally nothing you can do, and you should just accept the 1-3 hooks and the 0-1k. Camping and tunneling doesn't even save you. because those strategies aren't infallible. If you're Leatherface or somebody, you can secure a kill off 1 down, maybe a 2nd with NOED, but is that really winning? I don't think so, especially since playing your heart out going for chases gets you the same or worse results. And this is apparently what the devs and the community wants, a 2k average. So why force killers into that outcome through terrible balance and then complain about it?

I get that chases reflect the most skill, which is why ideally we all want to go for those. But as fun as that is, it's not fun enough to most people to where it outweighs the fun of winning, and that's fine for people to think that way. As it stands, killer doesn't have enough time to even get in a few chases vs efficient teams, at least not enjoyable or interactive chases. Most of it is just breaking pallets that you can't mindgame, forcing Bloodlust, and forcing entity blocker. The game isn't balanced for the killer to take 2 hits to down. The sprint burst guarantees that the chase resets unless the survivor does a stupid move, which is even worse than the initial chase assuming it was an easy surprise hit. But good survivors don't give that surprise hit because they hold forward the moment they see or hear you.

Gen defence, which gives you some time for more chases, literally isn't enough and it still gets nerfed constantly. Why is getting nerfed? Because people say, "It encourages camping and tunneling, and rewards bad killers who go on many/long chases." Except you get little use out of gen defence if you're tunneling, and basically none at all by camping, and assuming you do a mix of those or neither of those, you are in fact going for more chases, even if they're long. So which is it? Do survivors want to go for many chases, or do they want to do the gens in a few minutes while the killer plays in a way that gives the survivors an easy win? To suggest you can have both, as most do, is an oxymoron. You can't say that the killers who go for many chases and lose are baby killers for losing, but also want them to play that way because it's more fun and skillful.

And just in case this has been overlooked, we're talking about high level play. Any killer can 4k with 30s AFK/no perks/no add-ons vs inefficient survivors. What any killer can't do is beat any good survivor team, not matter how well they play. Survivors' mistakes are required for killer to win, because otherwise there literally isn't enough time to kill them. If you try and settle for the 1-2k from the get-go, use as much guaranteed slowdown as you can, make every chase as short as you can, tunnelling and camping all the way, then maybe that's what you'll get, but nothing is guaranteed without survivor mistakes. What you're asking for is for killers to give up any perceived goal of winning, in favor of making the match more fun for the survivors, because that's "skillfull" and "sportsmanlike" or whatever, so that they can feel some sort of accomplishment and pride from losing because they intentionally made it harder on themselves. I don't see it, and I never will.

I appreciate that thoughtful post. But a couple things… you’re turning both A and B into camper/tunnellers but just giving different perspectives on it. I would say (and did say) that Type A can sometimes primarily proxy camp a game for whatever reason. Type B are the scrubs that proxy camp most of the game.

And I understand and agree that at high level, WITH GOOD MATCHMAKING, killers NEED to use a proxy camping, tunnelling strategy to win. But that’s not my point. I’m talking about the vast majority of games that are NOT against high level 4 man swfs. The stats have been out for months. 4 man swfs are 5% of matches. 3-4 man swfs are 10%. So 90% of games are NOT going to be against really tough teams where you need a Type B play style.

  • @fake said:

We can now divide survivors into Type A and Type B.

Type A survivors are very skilled and always on their best behavior. Above average chasing, above average generator, and above average unhooking.

However, even a good Type A survivor can be 4k'd because matchmaking does not allow for a full four survivors. But still performs better as a solo queue than a type B survivor. This is because they are willing to sacrifice allies to achieve their objectives if necessary, or to be part of a resource that buys time without selfishly DCing or killing themselves.

Type B survivors are SWFs together. They use voice chat, which does not inherently exist in the game, and obtain an overwhelming information advantage that they cannot inherently obtain in the game. They use it to generate no-pressure generators.

Type B survivors who gain an advantage that cannot be gained in-game through voice chat have had so much success that they believe they are good at the game and will not try to become Type A survivors. If they want to be good, they must be able to win without having to rely on voice chat for the majority of their play.

Yeah, we can talk about both sides of the issue.

I have no problem with camping and tunneling as a tactic, but I understand that it can be boring when faced with For that reason, I believe we need a system that makes it more fun for the faced survivor and incentives for the killer to choose not to play them to make the game more lucrative.

This is my thought on the possibility of the "that killer is OP" argument arising if you make camping and tunneling completely impossible and still have a type A killer do 4k. If it always does 4k without camping or tunneling I would consider it OP. I also have the slightly contradictory thought that it is not OP because of the camping and tunneling.

I mean.. sure. I guess. Not the best division of A and B but ok. You’re basically saying A are good solos and B are swf players. I 100% agree that people that only play swfs are generally not as good as players that can do well in solo and swf. 100%. The difference though in my point and yours… 4 man swfs are 5% of games. Killers that just focus their game around the hook to get cheap hits or tunnel, whatever… my guess is that’s closer to 50% - 75% of games. And that occurs against solos 90% of the time.

There is a huge difference. They're up against the best survivors in the world. People who are on comms and can reasonably counter facecamping to some extent. It's not the same as facecamping random solos who can't communicate what's going on. There is no skill involved in facecamping randoms. Wasn't this the whole controversy with the kills=skill argument when MMR came out? I thought we were in agreement about this.

I just want to totally agree with this. I think this highlights a major problem with the game… people watch streamers and try to imitate their play when they don’t have the skill to do it. And like re: Hunkulese’s post… i think they imagine they are playing these highly competitive games that require those tactics. Sometimes people just have to face the reality that they’re not that good yet and they’re not camping/tunnelling to fight off some epic 4 man swf… they’re just struggling to win because they’re not at the level of their competition. They find that they can’t win without playing Type B so rather than try to get better anyway and accept losses as part of the road to improvement they keep playing Type B. The survivor issue with the ‘play like a streamer’ thing is that you get these players that think they can play injured and make crazy saves and they just get beaten down because their high risk play gets crushed by a decent killer.

Obviously there's little skill expression there, but I'd argue that there's equally little expression of skill on the side of the survs getting 4Kd. It's reciprocal.

    1. It's presumptuous to assume such killers universally "aren't as good as they think they are", and that thought comes from a knee jerk, insecurity driven response to being beaten. When I get a 4K because a surv team played in such a a way that it never made a lick of sense to leave the general hook vicinity, it don't puff my chest out and congratulate myself for being great, I take it as a gift given by poor survivors. If a team plays that way, they're going to keep playing that way more often than not, and they should be punished for it. If a team demonstrates they are going to immediately send 2 to the hook every time someone is put on, I'm not going to run away just because; that's an absurd expectation.
    2. There is yet to be a good proposal for nerfing camping put forward, and these skilless strategies are never going to go away completely, though I wish that were not true. As such, survivors need to look not just at the lack of consideration from camping killers, but their role in it, and more often than not, they absolutely play a big role in it. Type B killers are a thing, but a lot of the time survs lean into their playstyle, rewarding it, and helping propagate they behavior we all hate.

Here's the reality: more often than not, good survs don't consistently get 4K'd by type B killers. If you find yourself consistently on the wrong side of camper 4Ks, it's likely you're either playing with potatoes or a potato yourself.

This "these killers think they're good but aren't" may be true, but it's also copium for survs not being as good as they think they are. A loss feels like an insult of sorts, and when insulted, we want to insult back. It's human nature. Killers find continued success with those low skill strats because they are typically matched with comparably skilled survs that facilitate their success.

Of course this is all open to exception because of crap matchmaking, but is generally true, imo.

I am not a spectacular killer, but virtually every game I've dominated and rarely left the general vicinity of the hook was due to poor surv play. I didn't go to other areas because the survs weren't in other areas.

Conversely, most games in which I've really been challenged (or struggled) are games in which survs split up, divided attention, didn't send 2 or 3 to the hook for saves, etc. Games in which playing the type B style would not have worked at all.

Personally, I will play whatever way seems logical in the moment; I've never gone into a game thinking "I'm gonna hook someone and wait for the others to come to me, and trade until everyone is dead". That's not fun. Sometimes it ends up that way, but It's not something I ever want.

I just disagree with the part about ‘mostly good survivors don’t lose to Type B killers’. THe reason that really isn’t true, and part of the reason people quit these games… is that matchmaking is awful. And please don’t forget that this is true in peak times and horrendously awful in non-peak times. So 1-2 good survivors on a team still constantly lose or quit because they’re facing a Type B. You just can’t do anything with bad matchmaking so 1-2 weak players pretty much ends the game. Toss in a Type B killer or a Nurse or Blight… the game is pretty pointless.

And to Superbeasto talking about why I or anyone cares about the skill component… we’re playing a game. And because matchmaking is so bad, good survivors get beaten by bad killers (mostly Type B) all day long. I think everyone would have better games if these Type Bs cared about increasing their skill with the killer instead of just camping and tunnelling. If you or others just want to play Type B style… that’s your prerogative. And surely sometimes very good killers who can Type A all day surely resort to Type B for their own reasons. But again, Type B is just the lazy, easy way to play for those that aren’t good enough or are just being lazy. You can’t play that way and also say it’s a skillful way of playing. Either play with some skill and give a good game or get your easy 4k and accept you played pretty skilllessly. It doesn’t make you smarter than the survivors who tried to save their teammates. It’s more about the flaw in the design that forces players to the hook. This is why I think a universal Pyramidhead style would be better. Send survivors to a random location far away. All killers.

  • I never said camping/tunnelling wasn’t valid. It’s clearly allowed. But if you’re primarily a Type B, you have no basis for saying you’re a good killer just because you get 4ks.

I’m not changing the premise that the game design is flawed. Type B seem to think they’re ‘smart’ by playing this way. The flaw they exploit is that survivors have to save their teammates for the most part. Not only that but most games are solo and there is no coordination so teammates will almost always be saving off the hook. And again… fine. Smart play if you want to be a Type B and just get 4ks. You’re just not a good killer and can’t claim to be so.

And let’s not get distracted by the outliers… times when survivors hook dive, or endgame with 2 survivors left, whatever… I’m talking about killers, and there are a TON OF THEM, that most play Type B style yet think they’re ‘good’ at killer. I maintain no. You’re not. Type B play is for those that aren’t good enough to win as Type A… or are just lazy or toxic I guess.

Nah man, I haven't mained Freddy since they reworked him a few years back. And I play both sides when I have the time, so using the killer main argument doesn't really add to anything. I'm just simply stating that a skill in DBD is analyzing the lunge distance that a killer can hit you with and judging if you can greed a window or pallet another time. Additionally, there are usually objects and line of sight blockers in the way of windows and pallets. Only time a killer can really hit you with that much ease from one side to another is if the pallet and loop is unsafe. So yes, I believe the lunge range to be fair and it is why it has been the same for a very long time.

Fair enough. Probably half the time it’s my own bad judgment. But sometimes… like trying to finish a heal somewhere safe and close you grab that corner around a pallet and watch the killer coming… you think you have plenty of time and next thing you know you’re hit because that lunge was ridic. And not coup de grace… regular long ass lunge. But whatever… god knows I’m not changing anything… just curious.

  • @Remedicist said:

Part of looping is knowing the range that a killer can hit you with and when you're being greedy with a pallet or vault. I think the killer lunge range is fine personally.

Freddy main? No offense but killers aren’t the best judges here. It’s like asking the wolf if they think the pen should have lighter security. And yeah… i get that we need to know the range but that isn’t an argument for whether the range is right or wrong. You could say the same thing if killers could lunge 100 yards. But is 100 yards too long? Yes. I think being able to lunge from 4-5 feet from 1 side of a pallet, through the pallet which effectively prevents throwing it from 4-5 feet away… is a little much.

  • The players that really need to be brought out behind the shed are the petulant killers that DEMAND MORE PENALTIES so they can keep getting their easy 4ks. How selfish and self centered does one have to be to not have considered any of the threads that survivors have made about how unbalanced and unfair solo play is and has been since 6.1. If someone is going to blatantly ignore the valid reasons why survivors quit games and just stomp their little feet to MAKE IT STOP DEVS!!!! BAN THEM!! HURT THEM! They have nothing but my pity and contempt. The game is broken and terrible for a majority of the players but all you can do is think about your own easy game. I CANT COMPLETELY DESTROY ALL 4 SURVIVORS ANYMORE because THEY QUIT!. NO FAIR!!!! Seriously. You people need to get a grip and some class, empathy and sportsmanship while you’re at it.

  • @EntitySpawn said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3277533#Comment_3277533

Survivor is exactly the same thing though, infact nurse is the only killer even slightly able to complete at the higher level and they will still need to tunnel and run noed to get the kills.

Both sides can become insanely strong if one puts the time and effort into it. The only difference is half the killers are limited in potential due to safe loops, no matter how amazing you are at X killer it dont matter if the survivors know how to play safe tiles.

Nurse is not broken, many people win her over and over and if you're on about the very few top % nurses then you can say the same about the top survivors and thus both are broken when not paired correctly.

No it isn’t. Solo survivor is 4 random players thrown together and 99% of the time there are 1-2 weak players. If the killer is anywhere average or above the team gets destroyed. 1 - 2 strong players cant carry the team through 5 gens so it’s usually a foregone conclusion that we lost before it even started. I’m not exaggerating. And we need to knock it off with the ‘need nurse in order to compete at high level’ bs. Again… 5% are 4 man swfs. 5% are possibly ‘high level’ games. Making survivors have to face that crap so some player can make sure to win against a 4 man swf is ridiculous.

  • No. As others have said, they TRY to keep it balanced in a way that will keep the game alive and the money rolling in. But in practice they seem to have a REALLY hard time managing to do it. Since the ‘meta shake up’ the game has been far too killer sided. As a solo survivor main for years I am really struggling to find ways to have fun and justify my continued playing. It’s pretty silly to say that because this last killer is kind of weak maybe they’re survivor-sided. Really? Did they remove Blight and Nurse from the game to make room for the new guy? And even though I tend to throw out Blight and Nurse as prime examples, even without those 2, all killers will generally destroy a 4 man solo team because of horrible matchmaking.

I find it frustrating that survivors have ‘screamed’ as loud as they could in these forums about how bad solo life is and the devs remain silent and continue to slowly buff killer and allow camping and tunnelling to be a major part of the game. Honestly, the only reason I’m playing now is more about addiction than fun. What used to be an 80 fun / 20 fail balance is now reversed so I jones for that fun 20%. When the game is balanced to a 4 man swf, 10% of games are vs 3-4 man swf, and matchmaking is horrible, thus 90% of games are vs poorly match made solo teams… it’s pretty insane to suggest this game is currently anything but killer-sided.

  • And one last thing…. From what I’ve learned of this historic match it was probably a pretty low level team of solos with clearly mediocre items vs his P26 nurse . The strongest item was a 2 heal green medkit. Most survivors are bad with flashlights so it probably worked against the Yoichi if anything. The yellow and brown medkits are weak help. This dude wrecked a weak team of solos, even managing to throw in some camping… and he’s PROUD of it.

Lol while that's funny, Id like to see just one of these "nurse is easy mode" people use her against bots and record the full match to be viewed , if they can't absolutely body those bots then I can't take anything they say serious and it proves at the same time they're wrong about the character being too easy

Not to hijack the thread of neediness here… but how well I can play nurse is irrelevant. It’s kind of like saying I don’t know if my food tastes good if I can’t cook it. Or I don’t know if a movie is good if I can’t make one. I’ve played against hundreds of nurses over ~10k hours. I’m fairly well qualified to say an experienced nurse is the strongest killer in the game and i mean seriously… is it even an argument at this point? Everyone on the planet knows Nurse is broken. I never said she was easy to play. The problem is that once one puts the work in to be good at her she’s OPAF and ruins the game.

    Source?

Oh and the only thing the disabled dc penalty proved, was how salty our community is, whenever something doesn´t go their way.

The stats on swf % has been around for at least a couple months now. I saw the reposts here. Find them yourself.

  • Anyone with the observational powers of a loaf of bread can see that BHVR broke their own game. 90% of killer games are against solos or a 2 man swf, yet the game is balanced to a 4 man swf. And solo teams face the strongest killers and builds on a regular basis…it’s utterly ridiculous how broken the game is and how easy killer is but god forbid killers admit it and accept the fact that asymmetrical gameplay and garbage matchmaking wins their games for them. And I don’t give 2 damns about what killer mains think of me… they play dbd killer ffs…

  • It’s basically a variation of the same build. Awful.

  • Devs are constantly silently adding little ######### as well as purposely not fixing little ######### that screws survivors. It’s gone on as long as I’ve played this game… years. They only care about pushing killer win rates higher and higher and do the bare minimum for survivors. My guess is they could care less about maintaining current survivor mains and figure they’ll do fine with new players who don’t know any better and might accept 75-80% killer win rates. Little bumps and parts of objects etc magically appear out of nowhere and mess up your loop, gates spawn so close that a killer can easily guard both, hit validation just stopped being a thing like a month after it started, the dredge sounds like the hatch, Nemesis/Wesker’s infection sounds like hex totems, Like 99% of survivor outfits are colorful so you cant be too stealthy. All this is intentional to make survivors lives miserable. Isn’t your new outfit cute? Now go die so the killer can feel special.

    Ok, but here's the disconnect:

People in both roles intentionally load up stacked to the high heavens, with no regard to the fun of the other side. People who DC also do it with no regard to anyone's fun. It's the same mentality. Fun either matters or it doesn't - it can't be cherry-picked for one argument but not the other.

There are valid reasons for the DC penalty - "fun" is not one of them and never has been.

I see the point you’re trying to make but it doesn’t quite work. Assuming everyone is always playing their best load outs possible is heavily skewed in the killer’s defense. 90% of games are solos or 2 man swfs so the odds of all survivors stacking their load out are very low. Matchmaking is well known to be awful as well so again, 90% of games are poorly match made vs solos. If the killer stacked his build it’s even worse. So my point in regard to yours… The killer stacks his build and it ruins the game for all survivors. Survivors can only stack their team 5% of the time. So our feelings may be the same… we dont care about the other sides fun, but only the killer has the ability to consistently ruin games for the other side by stacking their build. So it’s pretty understandable that mostly survivors DC because they get tired of the stacked builds, OP killers and bad matchmaking.

  • @Terion said:

i mean i cant play for my fun if people keep ruining lobbys with their DCs. So what is your reasoning here? if you dont like loosing against other players in a video game, stop playing pvp games. Its the same salty mindset of "but you didnt follow my rulebook, now its unfun for me" yeah like is it only fun when you win? without a penalty this game would litteraly be unplayable cause all feel so entitled to their fun instead of just sticking it up, shut it up and play through it, and go on with the next game.

without BM in chat, without temper tantrum DCs without crying. Its a game. And yes i obviously paied money to watch DC simulator right now.

The abuser blaming the abused for ruining his fun abusing. Pretty much your standard dbd killer main.

  • Wait… what? Lol. How have I never seen this until now? New??

  • Exactly what’s wrong with this game. This guy is so proud of himself for a win with the most OP garbage in the game. GG game-imbalanced assisted win. And the comments about the ‘hit squad’ swf… yes… let’s all focus on the ‘5% of the time’ 4 man swf and ignore the fact that this genius runs nurse like this vs the other 95% weak mismatched solo teams. Fair. But don’t you dare leave the game you entitled survivors!

  • @Brimp said:

Impressive that you got hit 10 seconds into a match against a blight on lerys.

Oh looks. A Blight main. All skill.

  • You guys aren’t seeing this in context. In a swf with 3 other good players, it’s not an issue. Nothing is really an issue in a strong 4 man swf except maybe a strong nurse or blight. The problem is MOST of us play in solo queue. 75%-90% are solo or 2 man swf. Fact - matchmaking is god-awful. So strong builds, whether on weaker killers or not, become extremely strong. Re: this legion build… teammates waste time healing or they stay grouped up or they don’t do gens… the game is lost before it even started. In solo queue these legion games are aggravating af because you spend all game mending and rescuing while gens go nowhere…

Whatever…. same old #########. Killers gaslight that there’s no problems and that survivors are just unskilled entitled whiners. While the reality is that DBD killer is the easiest gig in gaming. Killers get most of their games vs solo teams that are horribly mismatched and they use their strongest killers, builds, and camping/tunnelling/slugging tactics on top of it. But why are so many survivors DC’ing and quitting?? Why do survivors have permanent double BP incentives?? Oh, they just won’t adapt. Killers continue to confound ‘work’ with ‘difficulty’. Mowing the lawn can be a lot of work but it’s not difficult. You will 100% finish mowing the lawn. Same in dbd. In almost all your games it will take work but you will nearly always 3 and 4k. It’s not difficult. Easiest gig in gaming.

  • “Camp Bubba”

Sorry… you can’t edit posts on ipad.

  • 100% BHVR’s fault. It’s their game and they fail to understand or just don’t care about solo survivor play even though its 75% - 95% of their survivor base. Pretty ironic that a developer named “Behaviour” doesn’t understand their own customers’ behavior.

The players quitting are the experienced survivors. Perhaps some noobs also start to copy that behavior but the driving force is serious dissatisfaction with gameplay. These survivors WANT to play but the asymmetricality has gone too far and people are fed up. Nurse, Blight, OP builds, over-plentiful options for 1 hit and aura revealing and gen slowdown, camping and tunnelling, horrible matchmaking, various garbage like endgames for dummies where the killer can literally stand in the middle and guard both gates, broken hit validation, far too many extremely mobile killers and zero fun killers like Pinhead, Blight, Legion, Doctor…. God knows when I’m in a game where 3 or more of these things are in play, I take my 4% chances….

Thing is… survivors aren’t going to change. No one is going to stick around for this BS anymore. So this will work itself out one way or the the other. Maybe, just maybe, this will reduce the amount of some of the above. Killer players will stop choosing Nurse or Blight since they know there won’t be a real game. Maybe they reduce camping/tunnelling since they know people will just suicide. But I don’t blame survivors at all. It’s like asking why people quit their jobs at McDonalds. They’re responding to their environment that sucks. DO you have any idea how many killers still play as can play bubba or tunnel or run their special OP builds with their best addons/maps..? It’s like 80% of my games. Fix that.

  • Feng for 2 reasons. 1. Her persona: She comes off as smart, cute, whimsical, and not to be f’d with, plus she’s a gamer. And 2. She has the best cosmetics so I can at least mix up her look for some enjoyment. My Feng is P74. Next highest are Zarina and Mikaela at 9. I was going to switch to Elodie main since her original outfit had her looking smoking. But not one of her skins since is decent.

  • I dont know the official answer but here’s my best guess based on experience:

Let’s call each DC a ‘level’. It seems to be:

    Level 1 - 1 minute

    Level 2 and 3 - 5 minutes

    Level 4 and 5 - 15 minutes.

Level 6 - I think 30 minutes but it’s been a long time since I’ve had a 30 minute penalty. After that, not sure.

As far as getting out of the penalty box, you seem to drop a level every 12 hrs or maybe 24 hours. So you can basically get 1 Level 1 penalty per day. If you go up to Level 2 and then 12 or 24 hours pass, your next penalty is probably Level 2 again, though if enough time passed for 2 level drops you could be back to level 1. If you get to a Level 4 penalty I think it takes a couple days to get back to 1 or 5 minute penalties again which is why I’m thinking maybe it’s a 12 hour turnaround.

I’d be interested in the official numbers and methodology also.

  • and to the reply that said nurse and blight are only 10% pick rate so my other 90% are easy...

no my friend. thanks to insanely bad matchmaking making solo queue a sh*tshow, most games are losses. Even when you get a weak killer you always have that weak team so you lose. the difference is that with Nurse and Blight it's laughable what a slaughter it is.

you killers are so out of touch and spoiled... but hey... keep running those OP killers with OP builds and proxy camping and tunnelling against weak solo teams... then slug for your 4k... those wins mean you're good!!

  • So 75% of games are solo or 2 man swf. The only serious swfs that make life hard for killers are 3-4 man and I’ve played enough 3 man swfs that I know that one guy makes a huge difference. Matchmaking still sucks and we generally get a moron 4th player that either does nothing or does everything wrong. Looks like 5% of games were 4 man swf. So yeah…

I’m just done with Blight and with BHVR’s lack of concern for survivors dealing with OP BS. Unless the blight is a baby and at least somewhat fair to play against he gets the 4% treatment every time. Next game.

Whenever 3 and 4 stack SWF gets nerfed

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I thought I heard that the great majority of killer games are vs solos vs swfs. If someone has the exact percentages, please post. But I believe it was like 10% were swf. So…. 90% of your games are easy but you need the last 10% to be made easier too…

There is effectively, ZERO reason to disconnect when the match just started. People constantly say "Well, the Nurse is overpowered" The issue is, you could at the very least stay in the match and try to improve, instead of immediately leaving. Am I saying Nurse has counter play? No, in fact I whole-heartedly agree that she needs to be nerfed. However, by disconnecting from the match you remove any chance of winning your team could've had. Even if Nurse has no counter play, there are still ways to hold time and get gens done. Don't disconnect simply because you can't learn how to play against her.

Lol. It’s called using probability to maximize the already tiny percentage of quality game time. I don’t give a damn that 5% of the time I may be wrong and it’s a bad nurse. If it’s Nurse, Blight or Pinhead I will take my 4% immediately.

It was a massive success. Most people got exactly what they'd been asking for throughout the years. 1 patch drops and suddenly survivors have zero fun, even though they had plenty of fun before? Okay. If that's all it takes for them to leave, they can go. The rest of us will adapt and have fun. The low motivation of certain survivors isn't the game's fault, and it certainly isn't 6.1.0's fault. This entitled/lazy survivor mentality has been going on for years. They want to put in minimum effort and feel godlike, and when that doesn't happen they rage quit.

I hope BHVR continues with patches like that, so that the undesirables who screw over their teammates and skew stats constantly will leave the rest of us in peace. I also want to see the reactions to any potential killer buffs, since people usually lose their minds over that stuff. Seems like every patch drop it's, "The worst patch that's ever happened!"

    Says killer main.

  • It’s not that complicated. As a survivor you need to get to 15 twice. Doing half a gen gets you 15. You have to go touch a rift to dump it and be able to get the next 15. Interact with another rift. Done. You don’t have to survive to get the event items. Die or not… once you appear back in your lobby you see the item flash up in the bottom center of your screen.

  • As expected… all replies basically saying “I’m allowed to do it and don’t want to waste my time”. No one admits its not sportsmanlike. No one cares about the other 3 players who get screwed. Just selfish people who won’t take responsibility…

And you don’t have to stand around while people do gens… you can down them, hook them, kick gens, do whatever… just don’t slaughter them before they have a chance to do anything.

I think I’m done with this forum for awhile…

It can't be called "unsportsmanlike" either. The only fact here is that FARMING IS NOT REALLY PLAYING THE GAME, not normally at least, and no player ever has an obligation to waste its time NOT PLAYING THE GAME when the best option is to just end the match as quick as possible and go for the next match.

You’re completely avoiding the point. The best option FOR YOU THE KILLER is to just end the match. You choose not to consider the facts… that you’re just screwing over 3 people for your own convenience. It is not sportsmanlike in any way, shape or form. I didn’t say you were obligated. That’s kind of what I’m pointing out… you’re not obligated to be sportsmanlike… so most all of you aren’t. But own it instead of avoiding the truth.

  • Ok. I’ll spell it out….

Granted: The person who DC’d is most at fault. They are unsportsmanlike.

But now let’s deal with the new reality. The facts.

Now the game is 3 survivors who are in an unfair game through no fault of their own vs a killer who has a very easy game. The game is now heavily imbalanced in the killer’s favor. You cannot say it is sportsmanlike to play this game from the killer’s perspective. You can say it’s within the rules or that it’s allowed but ‘sportsmanlike’? No.

Survivors can’t do anything to even the odds or make it fair or remedy the situation in some way but the killer CAN. There are various sportsmanlike things to do… let the survivors get a couple gens done before resuming normal play or farm with them for a bit or for the whole game. But the VAST MAJORITY of games where an early quit happens are simple slaughters. Most killers have the mindset of ‘not my fault. I’ll take advantage’. It’s allowed. It’s accepted by BHVR. It happens thousands of times every day. But no way is it sportsmanlike.

  • @ChurchofPig said:

It's unsportsmanlike to play the game as killer if a survivor dcs? Make it make sense

No. You prove that it’s sportsmanlike to destroy a 3 man team.

  • @Chaos999 said:

It's funny when people just generalize what "we killers" think, like some kind of hive mind or the Borg collective

There’s a VERY SMALL % of killers that will farm in this situation. I’m referring to the VAST MAJORITY of games that happen all day long.

I've seen from both sides, your giving them too much credit.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3218971#Comment_3218971

Play something else. I've always been a killer main, yet I play more survivor than killer now. There are still a few kinks on both sides, but 6.1.0 didn't make anything you mentioned start happening. Not trying to be rude, but you are not getting anything positive from this game anymore so just stop.

“Still a few kinks on both sides but 6.1.0 didn’t make anything…start happening”

Sorry but I couldn’t disagree more. They wrecked the fng game. Here’s the highlights:

Weakened key survivor perks (Iron Will, DS, Self Care). The supposed balance of weakened killer anti-gen perks had zero effect since they use other anti-gen perks.

    Strengthened killer in chase

    Strengthened Camping/Tunnelling

Reduced the survivor pool of good survivors

Introduced yet another high mobility killer

So… matchmaking is worse (hard to believe), killers are stronger, survivors are weaker. People complaining on these forums about solo queue aren’t making it up. It’s awful.

  • This is mostly a result of survivor fatigue with an oppressive game balance and being fed up with seeing the same crap over and over.

Tunnelled again, Wesker again, Anti-gen Legion again, Franklins/Hoarder Pinhead again, Ridiculous Blight hits again, Huntress aiming at hook again, 2 minute run and no gens done again, running into a closet instead of vaulting again, hit by silent zombie around a corner again, Camping bubba again… the list is almost endless.

I think many survivors have hit a limit and they’re not willing to suffer more BS… they just check out. The game has become so unfun for the most part that these are mostly survivors who are playing because they still love the game but they can’t take the excessive BS, so they limit the suffering by checking out when they hit the limit rather than quit the game altogether.

e.g lets say in the past i loved the game when it was 90% fun and 10% BS. Let’s say my theoretical limit to make me quit playing a game altogether is 40% BS. The game is currently at 50% BS. So I’m almost always near my limit for what I’ll tolerate while I’m playing… I take as much fun as I can from a given match and then when it crosses a threshold, I leave. I think that’s going on….

  • I don’t mind the poor English. The poor logic on the other hand… Rather than waste my time re-explaining all the points you seem to have missed on these forums by myself and others… I’ll just say this: No.

  • It’s not overhyped. It works fine and is one of the few new decent perks. I tried it in various setups and found I enjoyed using it with Stake Out and no toolbox. I can generally get the 1st 2 greats without tapping (heh) into my stake out bank. Then I generally get the next 4 with stake out. Sometimes I can manage to make one or 2 of those great skill checks on my own and that brings me into getting 7 or 8 greats in a row. I timed myself and could finish a gen alone with no toolbox in 60s. That’s nothing to dismiss offhand. When I run it with a toolbox and/or Prove Thyself it significantly speeds up objectives and also helps the team feel momentum.

I also like that focusing on hitting greats becomes it’s own mini-game and kinda takes away from the usual crappiness of the game vis a vis camping and tunnelling etc… and it helps you become better at hitting greats in general.
