BHVR actually has shown support to the LGBTQ+ community outside of pride month and is one of the communitys that doesnt seem to throw away their logo at the end of the month and then ignore the community (though they do change their logo, not the point here).
And you cant judge how they are portraying their LGBTQ+ char in-game because they are not revealed yet..
From what I've seen, it's still largely based on the media portrayal that I mentioned. I'll probably get another warning if I talk about why I think that is though lol Which is also why I'm not very convinced they'd do an LGBT character justice. But naturally we don't know how they'd do it until they do, like you said.

What about Leatherface is LGBTQ+ representation? 💀
He's based on Ed Gein, so I'm guessing the argument is that he's trans. But Idk the specifics of that lol

@Apollos With Small Game it really is a simple operation. Counterforce + map even easier, because you see no totem aura when lest is finished.
It can be, but it's still not something you nail 100% of the time.
-
I think Behavior is just another company that gets on the pride month bandwagon. They'll highlight drag queens and "sassy" characters because it's the media's portrayal of LGBT and it's fun to fawn over, but I don't actually see them doing justice for anyone that doesn't fit that mold. I just imagine them creating a character much like the whole Iceman debacle and that won't be good.
I'd like to see more male characters too, but the sad reality is that DBD is a fashion game and fashion games always prioritize female characters. People are begging for shirtless Dwight, Felix, and Jeff all the time (speaking of what the gays want lol), but they always give some lame excuse about how it can't work while giving Feng another e-girl outfit.
And as far as pricing and variety goes, don't even get me started. A HUGE problem with cosmetics is that they aren't designed with mixing and matching in mind. They like to make outfit sets that only really work with themselves, so it becomes really difficult to make something that looks put together. The pricing on Jill's head is really bad, along with all of the very rare sets they keep pushing. The worst contender with that is Meg, surprisingly. The majority of her cosmetics are very rare and auric cell exclusives. And what about all of those rift cosmetics that aren't in complete sets? Forget about it because they're not profitable.

@Elena I don't care? Survivors have tools to counter literally everything a killer can do, but refuse to use them... It is really not my problem. "I need slots for my 4 meta perks, uga buga!" That's how they sound to me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Small Game (which even have counter of totems in game) is a general perk, there is literally no excuse of not running it if you are so scared of Noed. Hate Spirit or any stealth killer? Spine Chill makes them useless and is a general perk as well. Hate being camped? Use Kindred and laught at them loosing... which is general perk, again.
Above all else, you don't need any perk as survivor to counter noed. You run to gen or somewhere and see a dull on the way? Cleanse it. Oh god... so hard...
I'm perfectly fine with NOED, but every match plays out a little differently. Some matches you can knock out all 5 totems quickly without any problem. I can get rid of most of them without any perks a good amount of the time too. But it's not always a simple operation.
I like the thrill of predicting they have NOED and not cleansing everything too though lol So it's no skin off my nose.
-
That's lame. I'd rather have the improved hit validation with pallets at the cost of it, but it just seems like it's another situation like lockers with Head On.

True. It would be nice to see how it fares - hopefully it does better than most other attempts in the genre.
Definitely. It's still pretty rough around the edges, but it has a great start.

I mean it's kind of a given that people will compare the two.
It's an asymmetrical multiplayer 4v1 horror game - a genre which DbD is currently at the forefront of.
It is. I just wanna see where it goes without dying too soon. 😭 But judging by this thread, a lot of people aren't ready to try it out so maybe that's a good sign lol
-
I don't care if someone Self-Cares, nor do I really care if a killer runs NOED. It's always pretty obvious when either one is being used before it even comes into play.
The only thing I dislike is when other players assume I'm running Self-Care and hang me out to dry lol I've been running Pharmacy on Steve and that's at least helped out quite a bit.
-
I'm really interested in the game, but I'd avoid comparing it to DBD. Only because overhype can kill a project like this really quickly.
-
Anyone will call anything cheating on the forums.
The fact of the matter is that this game is very casual at its core, but dealing with other players can be frustrating. After an annoying match, people wanna vent so they come here and complain. When they get enough updoots for their complaint, it turns into a belief that they'll carry around.
That being said, is SWF an advantage? Yes. But it's not winner takes all. I've played a lot of SWF (with and without comms) and solo matches and the only difference is that when I play with friends, I'm more likely to do really dumb things to be funny lol Or I'm more likely to get help with some of the ridiculous challenges we're meant to complete in the archives.
It's a lot easier to blame mechanics than it is to take the L.
-
The game needs a second look for sure, but I really believe the very first thing they need to do is start rebuilding the game from the ground up.
The amount of bugs out with each update is only getting worse and it's unacceptable. Consoles have way too many issues, and now DLC is being disabled randomly? Without a hotfix? Those issues alone are enough to have people ready to jump ship once the next best thing comes along.

Well it wouldnt matter for a killer if only one person can use it really, When im killing nothing is worse then busting your butt for multiple hooks getting down to end game and being cheated out of "winning"
Much how survivors were cheated out of living by Mori after 1 hook.
I still wouldn't argue they're the same. One hook can happen at the very beginning of the match before any gens are complete. Hatch appears much later.

Thats my point its a add think that the killer has to sink time into and they don't have any to spare. I would say as long as there is no dull totem noed won't activate unless the chage the perk. I feel like they will make them strong to justify them been like hexs which could tilt the game to a real almost unwinnable game every game.
I'm all for giving survivors more things to do, so it's interesting in the sense that it is something new, but it just seems like it'll cause more problems than it'll solve. Who knows how they'll be balanced at this point or what they'll actually do, but the setup isn't too promising.

NOED spawns on a dull totem. So, if the last totem is a Boon, it likely wouldn't overwrite it.
The real issue, to me, is that survivors have all sorts of totem detection perks, and some scale with other perks. I run small game and inner strength (which is literally just a better self care). As killer, how the heck am I supposed to find my own bones? Lol.
That's a great point lmao I assume they'd have to add basekit aura reading for totems on killer.
It seems like it'll cause problems for the survivor perks too. RIP Inner Strength
-
I put the killers I'm attracted to at the top too lmfao
I can agree with a good portion of it. I like the killers that offer a dynamic experience overall. There's been an odd balance with killers lately where they all do the same sorts of things imo, so it's not very interesting.
-
@Gamedozer7 said:

But the difference is the survivors can chose a location so there's can be extremely well hidden every match or even placed way from gens so the killer has to leave the area where gens are to stomp it out possible giving them time to finish multiple gens
That's what's bizarre to me. There is no downtime for killer, so why would they waste their time messing with totems? Survivors are supposed to be breaking them, so trying to protect them also seems pretty bizarre. What about perks like NOED? Will boon totems block it, or will it override them?
It just doesn't really seem very good for gameplay.

^ This, this is a low key problem nobody ever mentions. His teleport is ass. There have been times I've teleported to a person and been downstairs outside of the building, even though I KNOW I saw the notification pop up on the second floor....
Not to mention this games maps are ass. You can actually put his hooks under the map and grab people from underground in certain areas.......
He teleported into the ground the first match I had against him lol

They fade away when you approach, so they're probably some kind of spectral thing and not actual crows lol

What do you mean it only activates 50% of the time?
I haven't ran it in a while, but I know that hit detection can cause it to activate when you're downed, meaning you never get the boost but you do gain exhaustion.

Even with hatch, they can still more or less take the game hostage. I know you can technically find them while they are locker hopping, but the amount of time that takes without iron maiden or whispers is not even close to justifiable. The game DESPERATELY needs a better afk system.
Playing L4D2 recently, it made me wonder why DBD doesn't implement the same AFK system. If you're gone for long enough or DC, the AI takes over. Sounds perfect to me.
-
There's endless cosmetic options for RE. Never say never, but I don't see many coming to the game. My biggest concern too is that they won't be add-ons for legendary characters, but full legendary outfits. Meaning you paid 15 bucks for Chris, but you'll have to pay another 15 if you want his wetsuit and you're not allowed to unlink the sets. Legendaries by their very nature just aren't versatile. Modding filled in the gap there, but apparently that's a no-no.
Silent Hill could only offer bloodied versions of Cybil and Lisa, based on their secondary "looks" in the first game (inb4 incubator, memory of alessa, maria, eileen, etc. I know, I'm just pointing out the ones we already have). Too bad we can't prestige cosmetics, because that'd be a pretty easy way to add more variety to the legendary skins.
-
Keys are rare, risky, and only come into play when the match is nearly over. NOED only activates when the match is ready to advance into EGC and moris only work on death hook or on the last downed survivor.
In my honest opinion, anyone complaining about any of them is just feeling sorry for themselves.

Probably because survivors know they'll get tunneled out if they bring a key. And we all know why the killer reacts that way.
It sounds like the problem is solved then lol

Make keys useable by the holder only. You could effectively contribute nothing to a game an escape with someone else's key.
It's not a bad solution, but I can see it going either way. Because keys are rare and risky, most players probably wouldn't notice a difference in matches. But I could also see players getting a lot more aggressive with keys and bringing them more often, as well as focusing less on teamwork overall.

I want to test myself do you have one for survivors?
One rule I like to live by is to use at least 1 unique perk for each survivor (of the 3 they come with) and only use other perks that buff the unique one(s). For instance, running Visionary on Felix and then buffing that with Deja Vu, Prove Thyself, and Blast Mine. Or Built To Last and buffing that with Streetwise, Pharmacy, and Botany Knowledge.
It's had a dramatic impact on how I play the game.
-
To have fun and gain points. I try to ensure that for the other players too.

It's infantilizing for an M-rated game and an adult community.

It sucks when people get salty on either side. Hopefully you get some better matches.

Not true. Hatch spawns when the number of generators completed outnumbers the number of living survivors by one.
I know the conditions, but I used 4 since it's the earliest it can spawn with the fewest sacrifices. Probably should've elaborated.

By counterplay you mean you camp the hell out of the person who bought it and make the game as unfun as possible for them then yes. They have counterplay.
There is nothing my frustrating than working your butt off in game and beating cheated out of victory than by a "rare" item, if only the holder could benefit from it i'd think thats fair but for 3 survs to escape who are potentially on death hook is just beyond cheese.
Franklin's is one. Camping and tunneling are viable game mechanics, so those are also an option. As part of the asymmetrical nature of the game, killer can also see the survivor lobby which allows for prep work if someone has a key (granted they don't whip it out right before countdown). There's also the option of creating an EGC build if you encounter keys often.
I'm not saying you have to love keys, but I'm asking what could they change about them? Regardless of how common they may seem, they're still a rare spawn. Survivors are much more likely to find useless keys in chests, and the ones they find in the bloodweb or recover from matches can easily fall victim to Franklin's, cause them to get camped/tunneled out of the match, or never offer an opportunity to be used on hatch. Beyond that, they still require a charge to use, which Franklin's can also nullify, and they can only be utilized when hatch appears. The only real solutions are to get rid of keys altogether or to change when hatch appears.

What I'm saying is this is probably something how Lisa could play. We've never actually been able to play as her before in a game but if we did it could have ended up being similar to this. And he really doesn't use many of his abilities. He just had the tentacle and that's it. There's no other abilities he has in DBD that are what he does.
Nemesis' big things are that he's a pursuer; he can use his tentacles as a whip, lasso, or spear; he's able to use weapons; and he's able to attack other enemies. Before he mutates to an unrecognizable degree of course.
Due to game mechanics, Nemesis obviously can't use a rocket launcher, and I'm guessing they opted not to use his tentacle as a lasso for balancing reasons. But outside of that, he still uses his tentacle like a spear to infect survivors like the scene in RE3 (even though it's animated to look like a whip) and he pursues survivors and attacks enemies he spawns.
Lisa is slow and clumsy and only has her shackles to use as a blunt object. She's able to use her tentacles, but only in a limited capacity. I feel like if she were in DBD, she'd play a bit more like Cannibal.

She looks odd. Leon looks fantastic though. I will give them props for that.
They're all interpreted through the DBD style. It's the same with every crossover.
Jill does look weird, but I'm sort of biased because I don't even like how she looks in the new RE3 lol Chris is the same way. His model isn't ripped from RE5, but when you look at it closely, you can see that it's adapted from it. They even matched his hazel eyes.

Well change hatch mechanics if you cant change keys. Just make it so hatch doesn't spawn until there's only 1 survivor left. Nothing promotes survivors to stop playing the game more than when there's only 2 of them left and they both play for hatch.
I think hatch is fine as is, but that's a better argument to make. Most of the key arguments boil down to hatch or chest mechanics, or doing things that make the key, which is already a highly situational item, worthless.
-
I don't think keys need any rework. What else can you do? They already have a poor spawn rate, have counterplay and get filtered out of the match fairly quickly if they're seen, and require a charge to even use. They don't even come into play until at least 4 gens are completed and one survivor is dead.
-
I play normally if it's early in the match, but if it's gonna affect the match too greatly, I start searching for other stuff to do to farm points.
-
Amanda's not much of a badass in the Saw movies. She gets her scheiße wrecked by a disfigured man knocking on death's door in that hallway fight. Then the whole pit of needles thing.
She'd only have a chance against Trapper if the odds were in her favor or if he went after John and she went into a rage or something.

Well, if you mean how its designed than its 100% casual party game.
DBD is a casual game, but it can be played competitively like any other game. There's nothing wrong with players wanting to play any game competitively, its just not designed around that.
The problem is that these two groups should not mix, and SBMM should fix that. Competitive players suck the fun out for people who just want a casual game and competitive players don't get the challenge they want from casual players.
Its kinda like Smash Bros., its designed to be a party game, but any game where people are against each other will have those that play it competitively.
This is exactly how I feel.
It's a party game, but one that very easily frustrates and tilts people. So they sweat and come up with reasons why they have to in order to enjoy the game.
But ultimately, that's players making the game competitive and not the game itself being that way naturally.
-
I'm a big RE fan and I agree that the chapter was a disaster. There's a lot I dislike about it from bugs to lore details.
I don't think Nemesis plays like Lisa at all though. He uses abilities Nemesis has in all versions of RE3. He just doesn't use weapons.
Minus the face bugs, I think the characters look pretty OK too. I'm so glad Chris was based on RE5 and not RE7.
