More people post about Pyramid Head’s ass then they do about sideways items with Ashy Slashy. Sometimes you have to give the people what they want.
Yeah it’s definitely not first come first serve. Sometimes it’s what is getting the most attention. Sometimes it’s what’s easiest.
You'd think if it were acknowledged, they'd at least consider it a known issue though right? This system is really something lol

I don't like Huntress as a character personally, so I tend to be like "oh her" lmao. That's got nothing to do with her gameplay though.
I'm typically not a fan of ranged killers because of how often I encounter them and how difficult it is to get any better at loops against them.
However as far as ranged killers go, she does have certain tells that allow you to avoid her much easier than others. Once you hear her grunt during a chase, you have to zig zag, run in front of an obstacle, or mind game her. Certainly feels much more fair than getting hit through obstacles by PH or having chases end completely with Deathslinger. Or being poked to death by a [gay term for young slender man] with rapid fire daggers. Hit boxes are a problem of course, but they're a problem with everyone so I can't really hold it against her specifically.

The main thing that's bothering me about the game is how BHVR really isn't trying to shake up the meta.
Survivor meta is second chances and killer meta is slowdown. As a survivor you really don't have to run the meta to have fun.
As a killer you have to run slowdown to make the match last long enough to have fun, but when you deal with survivor meta perks it just makes you sweat.
It goes both ways. Certain survivor meta perks like DS and BT have changed to the point where they feel like they should just become base kit.
Being limited on second chances means your time in-game can be cut extremely short with little to nothing to show for it, especially with the increase in aggressive gameplay. I don't think that's fun for anybody.
With that being said, the game still doesn't force you to run any perks. The most meta I tend to get is having a build complimented by Iron Will or BT, and I get various results off of that. But I do agree that things should be altered for both killer and survivor gameplay to eliminate some of the sweat and to give the game more longevity overall.

I posted about steam achievements not working when Plague came out. It was acknowledge and fixed pretty fast. I think a lot of bugs we deal with are known. They just choose to delay fixing many of them to focus on content if it doesn't affect game play that much.
Recently they disabled Dead Dog Saloon map because of community feedback and have other maps in the past.
I'd rather not think that they choose based on priority, or else I have to assume that a broken cosmetic that affects how items are held that's been acknowledged for months is less important than Pyramid Head's ass.

Nice to hear. Glad something was done about it.

Lately I'm just burnt out on playing the game. I feel like there's no reason to advance in the rift. Going against aggressive players makes me not want to play as often.
It doesn't really feel like the devs are all that invested in listening to player concerns either. These forums are set up so bizarrely for that kind of thing and only really serve as a place to argue freely until you strike a nerve with a mod.
-
Every Evil Dead property has a difference license. They only licensed Ash vs. Evil Dead, so they'd need to take out a separate license for anything from Evil Dead 1 and 2 or Army of Darkness.
While I'd love to see content from the movies, the odds of it are pretty slim. That being said, what about one of his twin from the show?
You know, the hatching scene? 😚

Going to ask another question to players who gave YES for question THREE — it would be appreciated if you responded, but I understand otherwise!
This is a single multiple choice answer, pick either A, B, C, or D. You can put your reasoning after your answer of course!
Since you want exit gates to be more balanced if the hatch was removed and-or balanced in general, what model best fits how you would fix the exit gate spawns?
Model A — Line of sight blockers + Gates on adjacent walls. [Note: Corners gates would be rare]
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/NEBRCVS2S9X1/20210820-155901.jpg
Model B — Gate Switches will be inside the exit area + Gates spawn on the same wall but are distant from each other.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/69SPLH31GWY4/20210820-160155.jpg
Model C — Switches are separated from the gates + Gates can spawn on any wall with no distance requirement
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/IVB7AV0C4JMA/20210820-160506.jpg
Model D — Your suggestion to balancing gate spawns
A.
They're all unique suggestions, but I'd have to play them to really decide. For now, the best solution would be to make sure that gates don't spawn so closely together.
-
Yes.
No.
Yes.
Yes.
I'm OK with the current spawning conditions, but I would prefer it if hatch required 2 sacrifices before it could attempt to spawn. The advantage of seeing the hatch before EGC is something both killer and survivor can play upon and I like that element. Gates should be rebalanced regardless imo when it comes to placement. With the way keys are now (only Very Rare or Iridescent work, requires a charge to use), I think they're balanced enough. Reworking the hatch to spawn only after 2 deaths would mean that survivors could force a tie at best, not a win by being lucky and/or coordinated.

This made no sense to me, and I think you're projecting onto me assuming I'm a killer main (I'm 50/50).
I'm not griping _as a killer_, I'm raising the wider rhetorical question of the mindset that survivors generally have which is everything bad is always the killer's fault. That's a very specific observation that cannot be reworded or re-envisaged as a problem on both sides. And it's demonstrable by the simple fact that survivors don't bind themselves to any behaviour that they'd agree is collectively wrong/bad, unlike this mantra they've made some killers believe that tunnelling/camping is bad.
It's a notion I've held for a while and yes, I did make the post because I saw it manifest several times when I was playing killer, but that's also because I hardly see it as survivor as I usually play SWF and we're not idiots to believe in such a dichotomy.
Your OP is talking from the perspective of a killer after a frustrating match, asking what's wrong with survivors. I only based my post on the information you provided, so no projection.
I thought the last post I replied to was fairly well-rounded overall, but I don't know how you can argue that you don't have bias here when the level of reasonable, constructive discourse and total arrogance displayed by players in either role is fairly equal. For as many people saying the game is survivor/killer-sided and how we need to nerf every perk, you also have people discussing the best etiquette during gameplay and sharing their ideal matches. To say one is arrogant all of the time and unable to admit their faults, while the other is gaslit into questioning themselves is silly.
It's just a game, but it's no secret that people are prone to feeling victimized while playing. They either lose their cool and play aggressively and/or convince themselves that BM is acceptable and act accordingly. If you inconvenience somebody like that, you're much more likely to get an earful about it. Like I said earlier, because of the 4v1 element, survivors will naturally feel more comfortable venting in the post-game chat which is largely why it's more visible. But come to a place like the forums and you'll see venting from both sides in very much the same way you'd see in-game.
Wouldn't your SWF example prove that not everyone plays survivor like you described? Or is it an example of all survivors are bad except for you?

Are you referring to the new head cosmetics that I hear they just announced? If so I forgot about that, I haven't seen them yet. I know that some people said that certain head cosmetics were messed up after the character remodel so maybe they were just fixing those? Not sure.
Nah, the old ones. David's Debt Collector head uses the same hair textures, but it's lit a lot differently so it doesn't look the same. Or the cheaper Claudette heads not having any makeup like they used to. I wish we could've seen a bit more of those changes instead of being blind-sighted by cosmetics we already liked using.

I think one reason why people shame perks so much if you noticed are the same perks always used. DS, Unbreakable, freaking SOUL GUARD at times for crazy plays, Dead Hard, Pop, Ruin, BBQ, Undying, Tinkerer. It's basically become like ice cream and people are only getting one flavor. People want to see variety but there also lies the problem. You can't go outside the meta as survivor because killers bring the perks that work, the perks that get them the W's and killers can't go outside the meta because survivors will be glued to the gens as any killer knows you can have great pressure but the moment you take your foot off the gas even slightly, it can all be over which comes down to this: competitiveness. People want to win. They want to escape, they want the 4k. So when the other side plays better or outplays hard, the perks are always the go to spot to hit with salt. Egos come into play and things aren't pretty.
To be honest, noed doesn't even freaking bother me anymore. I see it or Devour and it's just so spicy. It's different than the average build. An endgame build? Man do I want to live to tell this tale. Honestly the end game perks are the most thrilling to me game play wise as a survivor. The stakes are at its highest. I am typically bored always seeing ruin + Undying+ BBQ + Pop. The builds are just boring in this game but they work. I guarantee if killers always brought perks that were trash, there'd be less complaints and way more, "gg ez" "trash perks for a trash player lols" instead of, "BBQ, Tinkerer, Infectious, pop on Nurse..... Wow. Can you be anymore tryhard? You're playing the best killer in the game you don't need those perks."
Ego, boredom and competitiveness is a powerful thing my friend.
Well said. I wish more players realized this is basically just a party game and tried to have fun with perks.

Sometimes you gotta just do a check to see if they're still in the chat. You know?
You can already do that by checking the settings after the match. If the section with their ping is blank, they left.
Also no one cares about your argument in chat, especially without context.

It isn't that complex. If the game didn't have to load every asset for every killer in each match it would run better on everything...
The game would probably run a lot better if it were recoded from the ground up, but it's hard to say if they'll ever take on that effort. After the RE chapter though, I'd really hope they'd think about it.

It doesn't bother me. I'm a firm believer of each player playing how they like. If the killer wants to tunnel/camp, let them do so because there are ways to punish that. I don't believe for a second that I tunnelled, I just capitalised on survivor misplays.
My point was more why everything is always the killers fault whenever survivors don't enjoy their match. There's a list of excuses that survivors have ready to throw at the killer, yet as far as I'm aware, there's not a single trait that survivors would agree that killers can accuse survivors of.
"Gen rush" - nope, that's just survivors doing the objective
"BM with flash-lights" - that's just distracting killer away from gens so others can complete them
"Abusing DS" - same as above, wasting killer's time so rest of the team completes objectives
My point was more about the dichotomy here, where the killer is expected to "play fair"... according to the survivor, yet the survivors will never give the killer any reprieve if they're having a difficult game. I've played 1000's of matches as killer, and I've never once experienced a scenario where the survivors looped me the whole game, and then at the end let me get a couple of hooks for free for the sake of BBQ points or whatever. It's mostly been t-bagging and insulted in chat after.
But if the survivors misplay and die for avoidable reasons, then it's the killer's fault for taking advantage, and somehow they're a newb for taking the easy option instead of tying up their hands further and going for the more difficult option, and ensuring the survivors have a fun game. Like, why do they put that on the killer to give the survivors a fun game when it's never the reverse?
It's double-standards, and I would love for survivors to start recognising this BS and changing their mindset accordingly. But then I think I've got better chance of BHVR fixing bugs than for that to happen.
This is where the irony comes in.
I get what you're saying, but you also posted this thread essentially doing the same thing.
People playing killer tend to gripe as much as survivors do, just not as frequently in the post-game chat. Every complaint you've seen against killers are made against survivors as well. The moment you take on the us vs. them mentality, you welcome in the victim complex.
Not saying you're playing the victim here since you have a pretty well-rounded opinion of things overall. Just avoid thinking in terms of "survivors/killers always do [x]" if you can.
-
The most I do in this regard is not feeling very sympathetic to a killer who brings NOED or a survivor who brings Self-Care, since they tend to accompany playstyles I'm not very fond of. But I never chew anyone out over bringing whatever's available to them.
I had a killer a while back complain in the post-game chat about how two people on our team who DCed had BT (after the rework). I didn't say anything, but I thought it was a really silly thing to even take issue with.

That is a terrible example. A better one is this.
Imagine you buy something for $10, and an hour later, the company puts that thing on sale for $5, do you not feel a bit cheated there? A good company that cares about the customer will actually give you back the $5 because you bought it so close to the sale. In fact, most gaming companies will, Valve does that for steam, League of Legends, DotA, Blizzard etc.
I've heard of several retailers allowing you to get a partial refund if a product goes on sale right after you purchase it.
It's not something Behavior has to do though. Not that I'm defending them. The amount of Very Rare and linked cosmetics they've been selling, while conveniently skipping incomplete Rift sets and leaving certain paid cosmetics broken, all reeks of "F you, give us your money".

Us consolers didn't even get to mess around with mods. The devs would have had to embrace it and add support, and with their full plates already I couldn't see that happening though.
Modding is almost always a perk of having the PC version of any game. But it's a bummer that they really broke the console versions with the RE chapter. DBD really does not seem so complex to warrant the compatibility issues it has.

I admit that I was deeply worried that they'd drastically change Meg, since the first preview that I recall seeing of her rework had her with what was essentially blond hair. I HATED that. Meg's my ginger girl, I was seriously concerned that they arbitrarily changed that for no reason. While I think that they did go overboard with puffing up the middle ponytail, making it look like she's wearing a little fuzzy hat, and while I'm sad that they covered the midriff of my favorite outfit (fortune teller) with dirt, I'm very happy that she wound up being more or less the same. Kate, too. She was beautiful perfection before the work and didn't need to be touched in my opinion. But while a lot of people (understandably) freaked out because they thought that the rework made her look like a clueless teenage bucktoothed chipmunk, I think that in-game she's essentially the same.
...Granted, this all means that the reworks were - in my opinion at least - an utterly pointless lateral move, but that also means that I don't hate them like I feared I would.

It's human instinct to cling to the familiar. We develop a sense of familiarity and security with the faces that care for us as infants, and that's a biological trait that sticks with us the rest of our lives. When we're used to seeing something looking a certain way, especially a human face, we're thrown when it suddenly looks different.
Definitely. I can sympathize with that.

Windows Of Opportunity and Sprint Burst would be good for gaining distance and dropping pallets/blocking vaults.
You could buff those with Quick And Quiet and Fixated as well.
You'll move faster naturally and when they start chasing you, you can sprint to get away. If they keep following you, you can quietly vault into a locker or hide in a corner and wait for your scratch marks to disappear. If you're exhausted, you can use Windows to drop a pallet in their face or find a vault before they can.
-
No. Anyone can dodge lobbies, regardless of their role.
It's equal because survivors don't know who the killer is, and killers don't know what perks the survivors are running. And it's before the match so there's no reason to penalize anyone.
-
There's a lot of talk about it everywhere.
Nobody knows anything rn other than the map is leaving, the characters and cosmetics are staying as exclusives, and the perks will be reworked and added to the shrine for anyone that doesn't have the characters already.
-
I still get my panties in a twist over them calling Nemesis "The Nemesis" instead of "The Pursuer". He's always been The Chaser/The Pursuer ever since he was introduced in '99.
-
Unironically, looking at all of the models in detail, they're really not all that different. Some of them even use the same textures as before.
I think people just got too used to how they used to look and automatically reject the changes, which I get.
I just hate that David's Debt Collector hair is lit so much differently. 😭😭 Since it's a lighting issue, it'll probably never get changed.

Err, no!
Tunnelling is when a killer deliberately goes after a particular survivor, despite there being other (better?) options available. It's derived from terming the killer as having "tunnel vision" such that they don't see alternatives.
Going after a survivor who approaches the killer (whether intentionally or not), or makes no active effort to escape, isn't tunnelling. The killer went for a reasonable option that presented itself, thanks to survivor misplay.
What's odd to me is that people would confuse taking aggro with being tunneled.
If I or someone else gets unhooked and the killer intentionally walks around the unhooker to smack the survivor who was just unhooked and then chases them down if BT activated, that's one thing. But if the survivor gets BT and then chases the killer, that's not communicating anything other than "chase me chase me hehe".

At its core, DBD is a fun concept but a deeply flawed game.
Sure we enjoy the gameplay, but it tends to be the same thing over and over and over. Mix in a bored and frustrated player base and every patch finding some way to introduce a host of new bugs and suddenly it's not so fun to play anymore.
To compensate for that, we get licenses so we can play characters we already know and love and cosmetics so we can have a fashion show and customize characters to our liking. Modding added an extra level of excitement that people hadn't felt for a long time, which is unfortunately no more.
Essentially, the game is currently too weak to stand on its own two legs without enough help to keep players interested. If licenses are lost and cosmetics dry up, players leave.

It goes both ways unfortunately.
Last night for instance, I went out of my way to heal a downed Meg (on death hook, in front of the killer) who unhooked me earlier and jumped behind her when the tier 3 Michael we were going against went to down her again. He left to catch up with her and sacrified everyone, but spared me. I gave him my medkit, we farmed points for a bit, and he opened the gate for me. They were console so there was no communication, but we were able to tell each other through gameplay that we respected each other's actions.
Sadly, the match right after that was a basement camping Insidious Doctor with NOED. All matches the two days prior were camping matches too.
There are players out there who just want to have fun and don't BM (unless you've really done something to mess with them), but you're more likely to encounter newer players that have started off learning bad habits, tilted players that have every excuse in the book for maintaining said bad habits, or really aggressive players that take the game way too seriously and do things to end gameplay quickly.

The community is quite fragile. We legit have a timer that prevents survivors from staying too long and yet they still complain about survivors staying in the game.
It's typically used to BM, so I get the frustration, but I agree. Killer has more ways of wasting survivor time and robbing BP, so a short period at the very end when the match is already over isn't that big of a deal.

That wouldn't be a bad idea. Some of the challenges are ridiculous and I wouldn't have been able to complete them without SWF or an AFK killer.

Bummed I understand, nervous I don't.
Why does this make you or anyone nervous? Netflix is in no way connected to any other license this game holds.
This was not BHVR'S decision, so I don't see a reason to be any more nervous because of this happening. This isn't a domino affect.
Because it's never happened before. The reality has set in that any license can fall through at any time. Of course that has always been a possibility like you said, but to repeat myself, the possibility of something happening is far different from it actually happening.
We don't know what did or didn't happen, so we can't be sure who's at fault. It's not something they can/will be transparent about either, so again we just don't know.
Being in the dark about a situation like this along with the potential for it to happen again doesn't exactly fill me with confidence.

Then I hope you've felt that the whole time you've been playing DBD. Because this could have happened at any time to any license.
But it never happened until now. I'm sure you can understand the difference between something having the potential to occur and something actually occurring.
Idk why people on the board are getting so oddly defensive over anyone being bummed or nervous about the license being lost. It's a natural reaction to something like this.
-
At this point, I think what happened is either that the company didn't want to offer the license renewal or they did and Behavior didn't wanna pay the price. Both are fairly likely imo.

The game tilts people very easily and makes them feel like a victim.
I think there's more comfort in yelling about it as survivor in-game just because you're more likely to have backup from your teammates whereas the killer is all alone (especially if they're SWF). Plus the killer is the natural antagonist, so I'm sure they feel more justified in their anger.
However, while survivors will chew the killer or their teammates out in the safety of the post-game chat, killers come here to complain because they're more likely to have people validate their points. There's a certain irony to it of course, but I obviously feel like it's a lot healthier to vent in a place like this than it is to scream at people after a match with them.

Hatch depends. It's all down to knowledge, luck, and the amount of time it takes to open/close. There's been several matches where Killer and I both know where hatch is and I still get out, even when we're both right next to it.
Being able to hide hatch would defeat the balance it already has as a last ditch effort that has to be fought over.

Wait a minute. I swear I posted in this thread. Did my post get deleted?
