  • I'm gonna give it a shot soon, but my MMR matches weren't noticeably any different aside from an increase in camping.

I'm guessing it's gonna be the same, just with more tunneling instead of camping like before.

Yes, and if it happens in 1000 games, we're talking about 2000 minutes, aka 33 hours of time where you just wait. Let alone that survivors might not even be in the same gate. Forcing survivors out of 1 gate(aka, hitting them twice if you dont have an instadown), takes about 5 seconds each. Assuming I am at the gate with all of them there, sure, that's just 20 seconds extra to the match.

Assuming I am not there, that means I would have to walk to the gate they opened, meaning if I dont have vision on the gate I might first be at the wrong gate, THEN spend 5 seconds for each survivor, THEN not all of them might be there with the others being in the other gate, forcing me to go back to hit them all out, adding another 5 seconds for each survivor there. Walking between gates can take anywhere from 10 to 25 seconds. So if I am "lucky", I am at the right gate, all survivors there, 20 seconds later they are out. Fine. If I am "unlucky", that's 10 seconds just walking to the first gate, another 25 to walk to the other gate, hitting 2 survivors out for another 10 seconds, seeing no one else is near, me walking to the other gate, 1 person there, so 30 seconds just to force 1 person out, THEN walking back again for another 30 seconds just to force the last person out. That's nearly the entire lenght of the EGC, with all survivors safe and sound in the exit gate, just waiting, meaning I could have been AFK, and it would just be as effective.

So obviously "forcing survivors out" isnt really the solution

    Stop

    Wasting

    Time

    By

    Waiting

    In

    The

    Gate

    You're really overthinking it.

Anything is permitted with EGC, including either killer or survivor(s) stalling the game. I know I said earlier in the thread that I'd prefer the courtesy of not being slugged and being left to bleed out, but it's no holds barred once that timer counts down.

All you can do if you want people to play with better etiquette is to not even chase them down as people are suggesting. Just hang out in the basement and take a break. The less attention you give people at the gate, the more likely they are to get bored and leave. The best thing other survivors can do is to leave as the gate opens so no one is egging anyone else on to stay.

  • Personally I think [BLANK] rewards [BLANK] for playing poorly because the game is [BLANK]-sided along with so many [BLANK]-sided maps. If they can also nerf [BLANK] and buff [BLANK], that would be great.

  • I'm gonna buy the chapter and try to get the Steve cosmetics, but that's it.

I don't care for Nancy and Demo's default skin is my favorite.

  • I'm nervous about it too.

People keep acting like Behavior is in the right here, but we don't know that for sure. Netflix has been known to shoot things down despite any reasoning to the contrary, but Behavior has also shown their ass pretty often too. It's just as easy to believe either side dropped the ball on this one and screwed things up.

  • I'd love Kirsty. Her actress liked the teaser too, so it would be bizarre for her not to be included in some capacity.

Kinda unsure about licensed content atm though, all things considered.

Normally I agree with your points, but I think there’s a big difference between all of your examples and what’s happening here.

Right now I can go tell a friend who hasn’t played DbD that they should give it a chance - you can play as all of these classic horror icons and a few more modern ones as well. If that person happens to be a massive fan of a Nightmare on Elm Street, I can bring them in and say that hey, this game has Freddy. They’re not going to care that this is Freddy 2.0, they’re going to care that they can play Freddy Krueger.

Come November 17th, if I go up to a friend and give my speech and they say “oh, I think I heard that Stranger Things is in that, I’m a big fan of that, how’s that content?” I have to tell them they literally cannot play as those characters unless they borrow my account (which iirc is frowned upon in the rules outside of KYF). I don’t get to tell them “oh yeah they’re in the game. They had an old version but they got reworked but they’re still there!” - I have to flat out say that they literally cannot play as them.

This game is a hard enough sell to new players as is with the insane grind and steep learning curve - legacy characters, because that’s really what we’re dealing with - are not healthy for the longevity of the game.

Plus I personally despise the “######### you, got mine” attitude so I can’t feel good about knowing I will always have the ST chapter despite never watching an episode, but a major ST fan discovering DbD in 2022 can never have them.

At absolute best I can say the survivors are ultimately skins, but Demo and Hawkins are gameplay unique to them and cannot be experienced by people coming in in November. And I cannot feel good about that.

Yeah but the main difference were those were something everyone could obtain at any time at no cost other than time and they were part of the base game. This is a paid DLC that was marketed as a permanent addition to the game at least that would be a standard assumption for a player to have.

Now of course the delisting isn't the full removal of content aside from the map but it's basically a full major update being removed. I feel your examples aren't all accurate legacy was never removed it was just awarded once to players. Moonlight offerings was just a small thing that affected developer time and map balance so for consistency they normalized the lighting on maps and removed the offerings. Lower rarity map offerings didn't matter because we still have map offerings that guarantee the map and splinters were technically replaced with Iri shards being able to purchase characters and cosmetics.

Essentially though - Everything you mentioned is still here with how it was introduced or it was replaced with a new feature. Stranger Things is outright being removed with no replacement and to me that's a big deal. I do understand what you mean though and I feel there's merits to what you're saying but I feel there is a big difference between those small additions in the game and a major update being removed / replaced.

You guys pretty much put my thoughts into words. While keeping any cosmetics exclusive is still pretty lame, they're just cosmetics at the end of the day. Losing low-rarity offerings isn't a big deal either.

But having 3 characters become permanent exclusives that cannot be updated and losing a map forever is not even remotely the same.

The tone policing over people being upset over the info, like we should be happy for Behavior's sake, is really dumb too. But I already addressed that earlier.

  • I would love a city map a lot.

But Trickster's entire aesthetic is like puking neon all over everything and I really wouldn't care for that. Or any boy band stuff.

  • People obviously don't get it, so let me spell it out again.

Go through the west wing of the RPD, keep going until you reach the stairwell. From the second floor landing, walk until you see the room with the "S.T.A.R.S. Office" sign next to it. Go in, find the desk with the diary on top of it, grab the medal with the unicorn on it, go back to the main hall and place it in the hollow at the big goddess statue's feet. Get the key, and start locking doors.

It is so easy how can people be this confused?

  • It's not my favorite map by any means, but it's a map I've gotten used to and I do enjoy.

I remember how funny it was the first time I learned how to make it onto the broken platform in the big room. It has the most satisfying drop in the game too on the 3rd floor.

  • I've never sat down to watch Stranger Things beyond the first episode. I like Steve so I'll buy him, but Idk enough about Jonathon.

The halloween 1978 license and all the other movies have different licenses. It also got renewed very recently for the laurie strode visual update. It should be fine for a while. And hey if it does get removed, don't people hate haddonfield anyways? Haha.

Don't the Akkads have control over most of the franchise minus Halloween II?

It's a bummer because I'd love some HII cosmetics, but I don't see them wanting to pay Universal for that. Same thing with every Evil Dead movie and Ash vs. Evil Dead belonging to different people.

They recently licenced into Smite and Roblox (Again) so it's strange they don't want to continue with BHVR

I'm thinking they might've increased the price for renewal and Behavior said no. They have been price gouging a lot recently. They also secured another new license.

  • @Orion said:

It's not the first thing that was removed from the game, nor will it be the last.

    • Legacy Prestige is no longer attainable.
    • Moonlight offerings are gone.
    • Lower-rarity map offerings no longer spawn.
    • Splinters were deleted.

    This happens in every game.

Is it too much to ask to let someone feel down about something without lecturing them?

For real, people are just bummed out. Let them feel crappy and vent it out.

  • DBD probably would have fallen by the wayside without the crossovers it was able to get.

Every time a license is lost, the people that started playing because of that license are likely to leave. So if they lose enough of them, they'll bleed players.

At the end of the day, I'm pretty sure all of us can admit that the game is a mess and we don't have a whole lot of transparency with the devs. Take a look at these forums for example: it's the only official place to talk about the game (without having to join discord) and it's a step above the Steam forums, which is not a compliment. Point being that the game and the community aren't stable enough to support themselves once those licenses are gone.

With this license being lost, maybe it would be a good time to start working on those areas just in case.

  • @GeneralV said:

If they barely talk to us about minor changes, imagine talking to us about something as delicate as a license.

It's two different things at the end of the day. I could understand if they're under an NDA or something like that or they just don't want to divulge the information from the contract.

But their lack of transparency otherwise with their own content is really bs.

  • As others have said, it should always crossover with things that have some kind of horror element. Sci-fi, action/suspense, and mystery tend to dance very close to the line, so there's a lot of IPs there that would be acceptable. It still depends even then though.

For instance, Fortnite did a crossover with Tomb Raider this year and while Tomb Raider undeniably has several horror elements, I still don't think Lara Croft would be an appropriate pick for DBD (especially given that her skillset wouldn't be utilized at all). However, a crossover with something like Scooby-Doo would be much more fitting, because while it's not typically horror-themed, it does deal with spooky chases and has a lot of potential to work with keeping the game in mind.

Ultimately too, with how fractured the horror genre tends to be, I think it's good for fans to have at least one place to go to get their fix. Not that DBD is the only option available, but it's one of the few games out there that still has a lot of active players. Opening it up too far beyond the horror genre would take that away.

  • There's so many fnaf threads.

hold up lemme make one real quick.

  • I get screwed over by my teammates a lot but I can't help but save them every time lol

  • It's all down to skill and play style. The sweatiest fare the best.

  • To be totally honest, I haven't noticed any difference. I still get a mix of baby, sweaty/aggro, and average players.

I am getting matched with campers more often, but I doubt that really correlates to the match-making since I was getting a lot of tunnellers prior to that.

  • Do you mean they're tunneling? Because if you're taking protection hits, that also usually means you're gonna take aggro.

Or are you getting tunneled after you take an endurance hit from the dying state? Or something different?

  • Unfortunately there's nothing that can be really done about it because the timer means you're not being held hostage.

But the player was clearly an A-hole.

  • @Header said:

To use pop you have to hook a survivor and then find a gen in the next 45 sec that has enough progress to be worth kicking. And even then its 'only' 25%. This is way more balanced than E to outplay.

You can't use DH unless you're injured and it's very easy to mess up. It's really common to DH into an obstacle or to use it too late and end up getting downed while activating exhaustion at the same time. Really, DH is just giving someone one chance to potentially avoid the dying state. It's not a guarantee and it can't be spammed.

I don't see how it's unbalanced, even if it can be frustrating to go against.

  • I never use Self-care, so they can buff it however they want. At least then the people who do who always scurry off can get it over with faster lol

  • After a while, I always remember that she also voices Sandy Cheeks and it's all I hear lmfao

  • I've never been too tilted to "quit", but I've taken breaks from the game for a while. Tbh I forget about the forums most of the time if I'm not playing.

  • I went through the level SFX in RE4 one time and her lines are in every area. I had headphones on. 😭

  • The first two films are great. They have a lot of body horror, which might be off-putting for you, but the plot is fantastic.

I'd recommend watching them back to back if you can since they tie together. Part 3 is fun too, but not as good. Avoid part 4 altogether lol

  • NIGHTOFTHECREEPS.jpg

Either a cropped version of this, or a cropped version of an inappropriate picture I'd probably get in trouble for lol

  • The lack of customization via icons and signatures on the forum makes it hard to keep track of people.

Because of that, I only really remember people based on their posting styles, which usually tend to be styles I dislike. Not trying to be negative or anything, but it's just the truth.

As much as i love RE and the second game in particular, I cannot get past how this chapter absolutely nuked the consoles into the ground. And even though three patches have been released since then, many of those performance issues are still present, putting the game in a worse spot than before RE came out. And the game's performance was already rough then.

Don't forget how the new map was either fully or partially disabled for the entire duration of the chapter. Pretty embarrassing.

  • I go both ways with it.

I'm disappointed in Capcom for making RE's 25th anniversary all about the last few years of the franchise and nothing else. Every big anniversary, we tend to get something neat that either celebrates the first game or all of the games up until that point, but not this year. At least the DBD crossover was able to reference RE4 and 5, so that's better than nothing.

I'm disappointed in the really bad lore that accompanied the RE chapter and the incorrect info. Nemesis should've been called The Pursuer over The Nemesis. Leon's RE4 outfit bio is actually Chris' bio post-RE1/pre-CODE:Veronica. Jill's classic outfit bio about "returning to Raccoon City" makes no sense at all. The standard bios for all 3 characters is really pathetic too. Jill was picking a lock in the basement and got teleported? Really? I was working on a text mod that was going to address all of those issues and rewrite the lore to explain why all 5 characters are there. That is until they patched it out lol

I'm also not a fan that there's no RE music present. Naturally every crossover just remixes the DBD music and the RE chapter's remix is at least faithful to the style of the RE soundtracks, but there's no motifs. I really enjoyed how the Silent Hill chapter had Theme Of Laura and Flower Crown Of Poppy in its remix. A little nod to The Night Begins would be great, especially for the anniversary.

As for the pros, I'm glad we got Claire and Chris. Nemesis is a good choice as well. Everyone was expecting it to be one of the Tyrants and I'm happy it was him. Having a perk that mimics the firecrackers is also great and I like Bite The Bullet and Resurgence a lot. I also really like the RPD map, but that might just be because I'm a fan, similar to Midwich.

He was on the other side of the map. Even if he went for the exit as soon as the Billy let him go he wouldn't have made it. Hatch was his only chance.

There was no self sacrifice. Dumb and dumber just wanted to stand at the exit til the last second even though the killer was not even there.

    That's fair. Sounds pretty crappy.

I have had several times where I was the obsession injured looping shack about 2 tiles away from the opened exit gate with 2 full health teammates in it no noed and the hatch was there at the shack.

My teammates didn't help body block for me nor would they leave so I couldn't get the exit gate or the hatch.

They did that just so they could Tbag the killer after he killed me when he went to the exit gate.

Edit: Aka if they did literally anything but Idle at the exit gate I would have lived by either getting hatch(Or running for the gate with the killer getting hatch) or by them bodyblocking for me.

That happens to me a lot too.

Survivor mains probably don't realize how long those clowns stick around. If you play killer and ever experiment with playing Wreck It Ralph while they wait, you would easily understand they will try to stay until the last possible second. A normal survivor main could be forgiven for underestimating their will to twerk into the void. I wouldn't exactly call it common knowledge unless you were in on the playstyle.

That's true. Hopefully they learn quickly lol

I'm not saying there's no context, there's just no excuse. There's only one person responsible for anyone's play style and that's themselves.

You're purposefully ignoring the influence other people can have on your decisions - and yes, other people can and do influence your decisions, even if some people deny it.

If this were a situation with more weight to it or something more critical, I might be more understanding. But since it's a game that can be shut off and set aside at any moment, there's no reason not to take a chill pill and go into matches with a clear head.

Negative interactions are negative interactions, no matter the form they take. I doubt you'd like it if you were subject to nonstop abuse when you were trying to do something nice for a group. How long would it take until you decided enough was enough?

I'm not ignoring it, I'm just not giving the game as much weight as real-world interactions with people who influence someone's life.

If the game has caused someone to be so traumatized that they're unable to take responsibility for themselves and can only play to punish strangers who never harmed them or to raise their defenses so high that they're unable to enjoy themselves naturally, I'd say it's time to touch grass. We're not talking about a toxic relationship or unstable home life, so even a term like abuse is too heavy given the circumstances.

Sure there are a lot of negative actions at times, but it's not an abusive situation that cannot be controlled or that someone is unable to distance themselves from. Their reaction to it is 100% their own and again, blaming others for that is no excuse. No one is being held at gunpoint to adopt a specific playstyle because they're unable to vent their grievances any other way.

You can empathize, but it's still a bad argument imo. It's shifting personal accountability off onto people that are totally unrelated.

I think it's just the inevitable result of their experience. You can't expect someone to put up with nonstop abuse when they're trying to be nice.

If someone wants to play aggressively and have no mercy, it's because they want to. Simple as that.

Well, yeah. Doesn't mean it's unprompted or inexplicable.

I'm not saying there's no context, there's just no excuse. There's only one person responsible for anyone's play style and that's themselves.

Most vocal survivors are toxic, and most of the times a killer tries to be nice, there's an ######### (usually with other survivors either actively or passively supporting the #########). I don't blame killers for not wanting to take that chance.

Do you know what a person is called when they're constantly nice to people who insult, degrade, and denigrate them? A doormat. I don't think people should be doormats.

Does it really apply if you go against a different group of people every time and you don't get any insults until after the match is over? That's kind of like spitting in someone's coffee at Starbucks because the lady the day before was a real catch you next Tuesday.

So I gesture to the two randoms to leave and I leave myself.

Yes, there were few times I saw 3rd survivor just keep standing at Gate, while the 4th injured one crouch near the hatch waiting for him to leave to get the hatch. And that 3rd guy just escape at the very last moment.

I had to blame that guy in post chat, if he wanted to help, just go back into the trial, find the 4th guy and lead him out. Its pointless just to wait at gate.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2427794#Comment_2427794

Leaving is Survivor's choice, they dont need Killer to push them out

Not to be that guy, but how long would you have to wait at hatch until you realize the other survivors aren't leaving? At that point it's just self-sacrifice.

  • I haven't noticed too much of a difference other than camping being more common. But that's pretty unrelated.

  • I'll absolutely prioritize a gen if it's almost complete and I know there's time to finish it. But making sure another survivor doesn't die on hook outweighs that. If they're about to tier 2 or die, I'll leave the gen. Otherwise, there's enough time to wait.

A lot of survivors suicide on hook way too quickly once they know who the killer is though. The game gets really annoying sometimes, so I can't fault them too hard, but it screws over the rest of the team so I'd rather they just stick it out to either see if the match improves or to farm what little struggle points they can.

  • @Mat_Sella said:

This is because a larger-than-it-should-be portion of survivors...simply don't do gens.

They'd rather rush a save and make a bad situation worse than to get 3 gens done in less than the amount of time it takes for the one survivor to bleed out on hook.

If three gens get done, then if he camps a second person, the other 2 can finish the last 2 gens, secure a gate and ensure someone makes it out.

Even if it throws the match, I can't in good conscience let someone die on first hook without getting a chance to play the game and gain some points.

    Unless they're bunny feng. 😥

  • As others have said, because it's a boring game. It's fun to play when you're feeling it, but it offers very little compared to most games.
