  • Man people get REALLY pissy at the word 'tech' for some reason even though it's just an uncreative name someone gave something. Doesn't mean some of them aren't an exploit, people just called it 'tech' because they wanted to create a name for it. If Blight's exploit wasn't already called 'j-flicking' by some, people would call it flick tech or something along those lines. And I honestly can't think of a single one that hasn't been fixed on the survivor end unless you can still crawl under hooks and get fast vaults from standing still.

  • I only use a crosshair for Huntress because it makes it really easy to cross-map with her. I don't think there's a significant benefit otherwise. I sometimes use one on Deathslinger depending on how I'm feeling but it doesn't help much, I can quickscope just fine without it. It's just something that feels nice to use whenever I'm playing those two killers.

  • Yeah I agree.

They can code a turn limitation into Blight.

How can they possibly prevent a player from stretching their screen resolution?

I don't think there's a way other than to force letterboxing on resolutions to maintain a 16:9 aspect ratio which I...think is possible? The game might already be doing that but I'm not sure. And I think there's even a way around that so...I got nothing lmao.

  • @gibblywibblywoo said:

Fairly certain there is no auto aim on console. Huntress and Slinger never had it either iirc. "Version Parity" is the excuse. Yet they allow M+KM Huntresses to play against console players.

It's not much of an issue that PC Huntresses/Deathslingers/Nurses etc are playing against console survivors, because the benefit of keyboard and mouse for survivor doesn't give you much of an edge over controller survivor. They're about the same.

  • There's no kind of autoaim or aim assist for ranged attacks in this game, only basic lunges, it's recoil that's messing your aim up (Yes there's a recoil when you throw knives with The Trickster and I wish I was joking). It shouldn't be a thing, maybe it'll get changed when they decide they enough data in a few months time to make the changes we've been suggesting for weeks on end but honestly who knows anymore, I've given up hope.

  • You don't need an "absurd amount of practice", but he does require quite a bit, and you'll be constantly learning as you go. There isn't really much in the way of tips to give people who're new to Blight except "practice". His power's really simple: You bounce into things and go fast. The difficult part is knowing where and how and that's gonna be different in almost every situation. So really you just have to get comfortable with using his power, same as Nurse. Once you know how these 2 killers work it's pretty easy to do well with them both, but you do have to have good awareness of tiles and maps, something that's not as important on Nurse since she can obviously no-clip through everything and Blight can't.

  • NOED is annoying to play against, that's it. Nothing to do with Trickster, the perk isn't overpowered or broken or whatever, it's just annoying when it procs. Breakout is an annoying perk to play against but is it overpowered? Of course not.

  • So you want to have the ability to slap titles onto people that you don't like because they played in a way that you didn't like? What the ######### ...coming from the guy who has a problem playing with TTVs I can't say I'm surprised but still dude, what? You know how much this would be abused? Because let's be real, nobody's gonna use the positive ones.

Then they should disable those killers because I'm doing nothing to modify anything I'm simply playing a killer with my sensitivity up and getting called a cheater, I'm just not even playing those killers and sticking to my nurse because this community is ridiculous to insult someone for having a high sensitivity is absurd

Nobody's insulting you here. Maybe they are in-game Idk but that's just par for the course for multiplayer games. It's up to BHVR what they want to do about it, people are gonna BM and talk smack in the post-game chat regardless, not much we can do about either of those things.

  • Please man just stop and read for a second.

You're using a higher sensitivity on Blight or Oni. This allows you to turn well over the intended cap up to 180 degrees and beyond.

The reason why is because there is a frame in-between the rush and lunge parts of their powers where the camera has normal functionality, allowing these crazy angles.

It is NOT intended for you to actually use this frame to turn your camera 180+ degrees, something that can only be done on PC too. It's an oversight in their power design that people have figured out how to use to gain unintended outcomes with a killer power. There is a reason why Oni and Blight have their turning limited whilst in their powers.

    It. Is. An. Exploit.

  • @The_Krapper said:

Well they should be mad at the devs then because it's not cheating just because someone's game runs better that's my point , these people saying it's exploiting when PC by default can do things console can't , how am I a exploiter for having my sensitivity turned up in game and it performing in a way they can't replicate? Just because the devs limit what console can do doesn't make me a cheater for pc sensitivity working better than intended with certain killers

And I'm talking default sensitivity at 100 being double what console has without any extra modification or gaming mouse

You're an exploiter because you're modifying something to gain an unintended result in a game. Textbook definition of an exploit. There's literally no arguing with it, just own it, you're using an exploit because you're not supposed to be able to turn your camera that much during Blight's rush in 1 frame. I don't care if people use it but it's getting really stupid seeing all these justifications for it and trying to say it isn't an exploit when it quite literally is. It doesn't matter if it is or isn't, you're not getting banned for it and it's up to the devs to remove it or not.

  • That has to be a bug. I refuse to believe this is intended, even for BHVR this would be insane if it was intentional design.

Yeah I guess. It’s just when he does eventually catch up, I’m stuck in that situation where nothing I do matters.

It's the Nurse/Spirit situation where if it's a good Pyramid Head that's exactly how it's gonna feel. But if it's not then it's not so bad. I think the best you can do is to not vault windows when he's close, because you're almost always only gonna get hit with his power when you're locked in an animation and that's bound to happen eventually. As for pallets...you're on your own with that one lol it's a lose-lose unless the PH messes it up. It's a bit similar to Huntress' 50/50 at pallets except PH isn't punished as much for it and you probably won't get another loop out of the pallet if he tried to bait and you guessed right unless it's a short pallet.

  • I used to always run spine chill but I got bored of the playstyle. Sure it's really good against stealth killers, but at most all they get on me is a hit and I can just use the speed boost to get to a safe tile or use sprint burst. And I'm usually fine with taking a hit from a stealth killer because they don't have a way of quickly downing me after that first free hit. The only exceptions would be GhostFace and Myers being 99'd I guess, but I almost never play against those killers and I can't even recall the last time I got 99'd next to a gen.

  • Good on Hag for obvious reasons. Wraith can make decent use out of it because of his speed and how easy it is to just drop chase and run back to hook with him and find immersed survivors. It's also a good Nurse perk.

Overall the perk is just 'average' on all killers, but it can be nice on a select few, like how STBFL is really good on Demo, Trickster and Pig because they can save the stacks easily.

I know sluzzy does a lot of trolling and often has illogical opinions, but I don't think he has his troll hat on this type, but that's besides the point. I think trickster has a lot of potential and isn't used properly yet. You simply say "he's not good enough" but provide no retorts to the strengths I pointed out.

Alright I'll run through your points:

His zoning is really bad compared to Huntress, and ESPECIALLY compared to Deathslinger. These two killer can guarantee a hit if you zone the survivor probably, and do it much faster. There is more room for error, but if you're decent at the game you're not gonna mess something like zoning up. Or if you want to zone, play Pyramid Head.

The low TR is one of his only strengths over Huntress, but Deathslinger's TR is also extremely quiet with MnA.

Literally anything Trickster can do, other killers can do 10 times better. He's a jack of no trades and a master of none either and has no identity or strength over any killer. The only thing he has going for him is the high ammo count which make missing ranged attacks quite forgiving, but when your power is this bad it's hardly a strength about him because other killers like Pyramid Head and Doctor have easy forgiving powers with small cooldowns.

Who said the slow was 15%? It’s definitely less than that

NGL I kinda forgot about the ring since I don’t play him too much ( I’m on console) but yeah that addon is kinda busted

The wiki says the slow is 15%:

    Screenshot_20210402-192516.jpg

And ah you're on console. He's a completely different killer on PC so that makes sense.

Not always. Pyramid Head's chase music was leagues better on the PTB.

And I always liked hearing Oni's 'killer-POV' chase music as survivor. The terror radius was also a lot more intense. Probably not a popular opinion, but eh I really want that music back, at LEAST for the killer side. It's been how long and that bug is still in the game and affecting every killer with unique killer chase music

  • Blight only has "decent" add-ons????

Compound 33 is busted, deleting pallets in 1.5 seconds and a 15% slow on top of that? Yeah ok, very fair.

    so is alchemist ring.

    Compound 21 is very good

Turning add-ons let you weave through way more areas than without

Double blighted add-ons (speed) is ridiculously strong

Blight tag when paired with ring can win the game within a few minutes of starting a match.

Undetectable rush add-on is really good because it not only hides your approach better (Blight's slam sound effects can be really quiet or just nonexistent for the survivors sometimes) but it hides your red stain when you're rushing around a wall.

Honestly Blight should be in the top tier. If you don't play Blight it's understandable but if you know how Blight works some of his add-ons can be busted in the right hands.

I mean, I know sluzzy says some REALLY stupid and illogical stuff sometimes, but I'm man enough to agree with someone I typically disagree with.

We see this kind of new killer hate all the time, but look at how strong blight and twins actually are in practice. I think a lot of people will eat crow once some really good trickster players emerge

You're agreeing with a troll my dude. And no, Trickster needs buffs, just because some people start winning with him doesn't mean he's good and is underrated. People with a brain knew that Blight and Twins were gonna be good because, and get this, they got changed and fixed on the live patch and we saw what you could do with them. The changes made to Trickster did nothing to help his case. We don't need any more time to know that Trickster is bad, we know what makes a good killer and right now Trickster isn't one of them.

If you aren't worried about the playerbase of a killer then why bother with arguing against them getting a mechanic that makes their gameplay more fun and interactive

??? Why would I be worried about a killer being played more or less? That doesn't even matter, it's an exploit and it should be removed. Whether it will be removed or not is up to BHVR but you're exploiting game mechanics to gain an advantage and that's the end of it. Blight could be played by literally only 3 people on Earth and I'd still want this gone because it's not intended and gives a significant advantage. I play Blight too but I don't use this exploit, I'm against it because it's cheating, end of.

And, interactive implies that there is reasonable counterplay on the other side as well, and there isn't unless, like I said, you're assuming every Blight you come across has a DPI switch at the ready and will always turn 180 degrees in 1 frame around a corner to try and hit you, which is not reasonable at all.

  • @Leachy_Jr said:

The logic behind wanting the j flick gone makes literally no sense to me.

    • Has counterplay, makes playing blight and playing against him more skillful.
    • Buffs blight to the top 5, without it this makes him a mid tier killer.
    • If the j flick was removed more people would play spirit, nurse, twins and pyramid which are infinitely more unfun than blight.

What's the issue if it does nothing but benefit the game.

    • What counterplay? Assuming that every Blight player is gonna exploit his lunge is counterplay? So it's another 50/50 but this time the 50/50 is "is the Blight cheating or not"? Awesome.
    • No it doesn't, he's still a high-tier killer without this stupid lunge, and if you think he isn't you and everyone else who thinks like this are relying on this exploit too much.
    • These killers are already played enough that the removal of an exploit isn't going to change the amount of Pyramid Heads and Spirits, and Blight is already not played often.

There has to be some way to make him better T_T

It's so bizarre that every aspect of his power is basically self countering - His 'ultimate' may as well not exist.

What would you try to buff him? And, honestly, do you think they will adequately buff him?

    • Laceration stacks stay up until 6/8 'stacks'. If Trickster gets 7/8 laceration 'stacks', it will regress down to 6.
    • Ricochet blades should be default, trick blades give a 2nd ricochet and a double laceration bonus if 2nd ricochet hits survivors.
    • Main Event can be activated whenever and it no longer auto-fires, just hold the button when you want to rapid-fire knives like he does with his primary power

That's what I would do. Or hell I'd even completely rework his normal firing mode too:

Trickster now fires a burst of 3 or 4 knives with a small cooldown in-between each burst (think Genji from Overwatch). Main Event is still the rapid-fire mode. Would give him a little bit of a skill cap with his main power while keeping Main Event as the spammy snowball portion of his power

As for the 2nd question, I really don't know if they will give him the correct buffs but I can hope. BHVR usually tries to make a really convoluted and unnecessary buff for a character and then to compensate they'll nerf something else about the character because they think the killer will be too strong. Hope this isn't the case with Trickster, I genuinely want this guy to be good he has a TON of potential and I'll absolutely main him if he got the right buffs.

  • @Steel_Eyed said:

So it’s like Plague? But her sickness meter doesn’t decrease and shes 115

Like plague, but 110 movement speed, has a regressing status effect instead of a progressing one, doesn't counter iron will and leads to a secondary power that's next to useless. Trickster in a nutshell lmao.

  • I think the only way to make him somewhat competent right now is taking a Deathslinger approach to him: M&A, STBFL, BBQ, pop/corrupt, use your power for quick downs over small loops because there's very little survivors can do to stop that if you're accurate. And uh....um...that's it, he's a 110% M1 killer everywhere else.

And never use Main Event because right now it's worse than using his primary power.

There's a certain class of Blendette who use Sprint Burst, Urban, Spine Chill, and Self-Care and then just play super-immersed.

In all honesty they're God's gift to killer mains, but it pleases me to pretend like they piss me off. And then to extend that faux-rage to all other Blenderinos.

...as I said, I've got issues.

    How quirky and edgy.

  • It's good that the reaction to the new survivor has been almost all positive. Once again the art and creative teams pulling through and knocking it 500 miles out of the park with the new survivor and killer designs.

  • I stopped caring about losses a long time ago, which is why it's not so bad playing Trickster right now lmao. I still kind of try to win, but right now I'm more focusing on how to use killer powers correctly and having fun that way, and getting used to Tall Blight again after many months of not playing him. I suppose that's the only bit of advice I can give: stop caring about losses. It's only a videogame, the outcomes of your matches in the game have no kind of impact whatsoever on your real life.

  • DS definitely needed changes. It'll still stop tunnelling, which is what they want the perk to do anyway, so...I really don't see a problem with the nerf. Just jump in a locker if the killer's targeting you and DS is up like always.

  • I have tried it, I switched the DPI, flung my mouse and oh look I got a 180 degree flick. Guess I'm just too good at this game then? There's literally nothing else to it my dude.

  • Yep. I see so much potential wasted, and it's gonna be sooo long before he gets enough buffs to become even remotely fun because I remember Almo saying he doesn't look at data on a killer until over a month after release. Because, you know, data is the most important thing and he definitely wouldn't be able to tell what's wrong with the killer simply by watching other people play him.

I'm just sad, even more so that we all saw this coming a mile away. It's like watching a train about to crash for the hundredth time and knowing ways to stop it from happening, yet the driver is completely clueless everytime.

  • Oh speaking of map reworks, anyone else noticed that Groaning Storehouse's main building has a pallet again? Along with the breakable wall. Awesome. That map's always been one of my worst maps as well, I never do well on storehouse as killer.

  • Have fun being 1 of about 6 Trickster mains in existence just like I'm having fun being 1 of 4 Demo mains. The main difference is my killer has a power and yours doesn't but hopefully he'll get one soon!

Just look at Blight. He still gets adjustments.

and they are listening to feedback from PTB, just not everything makes it to the initial release. Most major releases are followed by 2 patches, and they are already working on those - partly based on PTB feedback.

Why would it be based on PTB feedback, a version that would be almost months behind the live release, when they already said the PTB feedback isn't substantial to make any worthwhile changes because the size of players is too small? They look at data AFTER the patch comes to live, usually over a month after release according to Almo. So I ask again: why have PTB feedback in the first place?

  • @Mooks said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2065498#Comment_2065498

Not enough time. Not enough data.

they are probably already working on adjustments, but they need to get the Chapter ready for platforms to review way before the release. They can’t make major changes between PTB and live. That doesn’t mean the feedback gets ignored completely

If they can't make major changes between the PTB and live due to not enough, then why have a PTB at all...and if they're working on adjustments, why aren't we being told? It means that whenever a PTB drops we're just testing out the stability of the game and our feedback means nothing if we're constantly several weeks behind. If it's never enough data, why have a PTB feedback section when the data and the feedback they gather from it isn't helpful to them at all because of the low sample size?

  • Yeah when those 3 posts appear and immediately get buried on the forums (which holds less than maybe 2% of the entire playerbase) that'll prove your point! It will mean that Blight is hated on the same levels of Freddy and Deathslinger, clearly!

  • Because it's cheating. End of.

I honestly don't care if people use it and I am quite tired of seeing this topic now, mainly because I'm mindblown at the amount of people who are trying to say it's not cheating. Use it as often as you like I don't care, just don't try and say it's not an exploit as a way of defending the use and/or the inclusion of it in the game, just say you like using it.

Huntress has 1-hit-1-damage axes with perfect aim + giant hitboxes that hit through corners even. Trickster... "Look at me Mom, I've never thrown anything in my entire life! Weeeeeeeh!!"

Seriously, what the actual heck BHVR. Did you even consider Huntress exists in the game and can do literally everything better compared to Trickster?

As for the main event, it takes so long to actually start that by the time I get to throw my blades like a minigun fire, the survivors are long gone.

Not only that, but you're 10% slower than survivors while throwing knives in main event, meaning that all a survivors has to do is find a rock and you LITERALLY CANNOT DOWN THEM UNTIL YOU CANCEL YOUR POWER.

    Amazing.

  • And this would be a problem...how? Plague, Huntress and Deathslinger can all do this and they're rewarded with a health state MUCH faster than Trickster is. The recoil is also completely random, zigzagging either up and to the left or up and to the right with no kind of pattern. If it was consistent I'd be fine with it, but it isn't.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/238646/trickster-isn-t-even-fun-to-fight

Dear lord, he is nowhere near deathslinger. I played against deathslinger like once, but I can guarantee you that trickster is infinitely better than deathslinger, to play against.

I kind of disagree and this is coming from someone's who despises playing against Deathslinger. Against Trickster I am in no kind of immediate danger of going down nor do I care at all what he is doing because his power is so trash. Against Deathslinger I can be hit at any moment and he's an actual threat in a chase. I can also acknowledge when the Slinger did a good play. Against Trickster it's literally just run around until he tickles you 8 times out of his 60 knives and deals 1 state of damage to you, there isn't much aiming involved because he's literally just spamming stuff at you until you eventually go down, and if I get behind an obstacle I am immediately safe because he has no kind of zoning potential either. That's even more boring than Slinger.

  • @BangBang said:

Then why don't you try it? LMAO

Not to mention he is a tough killer to control, J flick is not something you can just do by simply increasing the dpi.

If you don't like it, just stick with consoles and turn off cross-play.

Um that's literally all you need to do, you increase your DPI and fling your mouse while attacking. There's nothing else to it.

  • @steezo_de said:

The recoil on PC is NOT that bad. If you play FPS games on the regular, this is nothing.

Naaah the recoil's bad and has no place in DbD. It's also the most unintuitive recoil I've ever seen. Usually it goes in a straight pattern everytime like the AK in CSGO goes up and then to the right and left. With Trickster? After every knife throw it goes either slightly up and to the right, or slightly up and to the left. It's COMPLETELY random and shouldn't even be in DbD in the first place. Combine that with the knife hands alternating and it's the least fun and one of the dumbest range attacks I've ever seen implemented in a video game. If it was just a single direction I'd be fine with it, but it isn't.

I watched Tru3 play Wraith and something definitely seemed off. It seems like his uncloaking speed is still equivalent to running two pre-patch Windstorms instead of just one. Not sure why the devs did it, did they seriously think that people might find Wraith OP? It wouldn't surprise me if they did though.

I'm really hoping that it'll be a different story when I actually play him.

They thought that simply buffing Wraith's movement speed would be too powerful so it had to have a bigger downside

After 5 whole years of developing the same game they're still acting like they're brand new (shoutouts to Ralph for the "acting like they're brand new" saying I love it). And the worst part is I wish I was surprised but I'm not.

  • @Chocolate_Cosmos said:

When it works, it is good but it is kinda rare for me to stun the killer during the match. There are some rare games where Killer wants to eat the pallets no metter stun but many play safe around it.

Also, I noticed that is it somewhat harder to stun the killer after new patch.

There's currently a bug where if you lunge into the pallet it will often just not stun you.

Imagine that breaking on release when a new perk revolves entirely around pallet stuns lmao.

  • It's a shame we'll never see the rapid-fire tbags again. Seeing that for the first time was one of the funniest things I've seen in this game but sadly we'll never get them back :(

Not much point catching up to them when you can't hit them after. If survivors are on coms or running spine chill GG.

I was using all seeing and a survivor behind a solid wall was able to counter my movements perfectly and constantly went the opposite direction to me. Either his breathing and snorting is also louder and more directional or they were using wall hacks.

It couldn't have been that you were being predictable and the survivor read you like a book? If you weren't hiding your red light that would've also gave you away. They'll know exactly when you're uncloaking unless you're running silent bell. And killer breathing in general has been loud for months

sorry to hear. I mean I try, I'm just really worried that this even happens. Like, I got absurdly unwell with the doctor already, but not to this degree.

Maybe it's the combination of his constant laughing and the music that clash together. They're designed to be as distressing and weird as possible (and imo he laughs a little bit too much to the point where it's just ######### annoying). The voice acting is fantastic don't get me wrong and I like what they're going for, but hearing it literally constantly is gonna get annoying real soon.

But for others I could see how it would potentially stress them out. It does cross into the uncanny valley a bit, and the noise is quite overwhelming.
