Maybe don't bm?
So, t-bagging, or clicking your flashlight 20 times a second is not BMing?
Or how about spamming loud noise notifications by repeatly doing a rushed action? A killer litterally cant ignore that, unless they turn off their sound completely.
-
Does that mean that now when someone unhooks someone else infront of my face, I will no longer accidently hit the already hooked survivor? That sounds like a good quality of life change to me.
-
But thats actually what Dead Hard does, giving you a small boost, and invicible-frames. However the dash is shorter than the killer's lunge. In order to actually dodge a lunge, you need to wait until the killer is already halfway through the lunge. The dash is half a second, while killer's lunge is a full second.
-
In general I adivse that you simply play those 2 characters yourself. You will soon realise the counters by yourself. You will see other survivors who have already adopted to those killers, unlike you, and use it against you.
-
Ranking up is too easy. Given enough time, everyone eventually would reach red ranks. Dead by Daylight has a very very slow growth in playerbase, which means that newcomers would have no one to play with. Its there to keep the game alive. A nessecary evil.
-
I had a weird matchmaking yesterday. Normally it takes me 5 minutes to find a lobby as killer, but I get paired with people close to my rank (plus-minus 2-3), but yesterday I got nearly instant lobbies, but with ranks all over the place.
Anyone else got that?

Stealth works against the Nurse. Yes, people say its boring.
But you know what also boring? Yes exactly, mindlessly running in circles is boring too.

Ghostface is 90% when crouching, Pig is 92%.

Spirit is above Billy by far. You can loop a Billy, but not a Spirit.

I didn't name the program or go into detail about it and I explained to Yohan the signs of a lag switch and how to identify them better.
How is that banable offense? Or why should it be edited? Or which part do you mean, it's quite long post.
I dont know. I got into trouble on the Steam forum for saying exatly what you wrote in your wall of text. I assumed same would happen here too.

That is the case. You grab them because they're still in the interaction on your screen, but they already let go on their end. The game can't grab them because they weren't on the generator on their end so it switches to a swing instead.
How exactly does that work when the killer is the host? They are not supposed to have any latency....

Lag switch has two different methods, one is easy to spot while other is not.
If the lag started suddenly while earlier it wasn't laggy at all that could be a sign of a lag switch. But there is still a small chance it being caused by something else such as other users in the same household starting up streaming video at high resolution causing small to huge buffer download of the video file or small hiccup in the connection (temporary packet loss).
Based on the video it could be just a lag spike (50%) or lag switch (50%), hard to tell without video of the full game including lobby ping time.
The other type of lag switch is where you stop moving completely until the killer allows you to move again which is done by manually limiting the packet speed sent to survivors using a software designed to limit that (designed for managing downloads, not to cheat in DbD).
EDIT: Missed your post about it being like that all game.
In that case it isn't switch per say.. But instead very unstable connection if the ping in the lobby was fine. Most likely a laggy wireless router/modem causing packet loss and delay with possible interference from neighbors being in the same WLAN channel (routers/modems have channels for certain hz to send and receive, you can choose a different one to combat interference and some automatically switch that), or overheated/over stressed modem/router etc..
My friend has a router which often either overheats or just lags by design (too cheap) and shows skipping motion on all online games, DbD and CS:GO for example. And powering it off for 10 seconds weekly fixes that lag/skipping motion in online games.
You should edit your post before the mods see it. I know from personal experience that discussing lagswitching is bannable.

In real life, I could easily outrun any of the killers, including Billy if we are in the woods (loads of obstacles). But not Nurse. If she sees you, she gets you. Thats truly terrifying.
-
Short answer: Yes.
Long answer: Yes, they are bugged.
-
Instant killer lobbies on PS4? On PC you can only dream. They put an artificial timer before starting the lobby here a few patches ago, because SWF kept crying about lobby dodging. I wont blame the killers for doing so. No one wants to play against cheaters.
They will probably do the same change on PS4 soon, I can assure you. Because thats easier than fixing the actual imbalalance of Cheats with Friends.

Its been a while since I saw a Nurse without Ruin.It appears that Nurses are most likely to run. I even see Trappers without Ruin!
I personally stopped Ruin on Nurse, but I still use add-ons (even range at time), its just funnier that way, especially if toolboxes are involved.
-
Looking at the tiny "settings" page in the game, the developers seem to hate every and any form of customisation, because BaLaNcInG. My bet its not gonna happen, sadly.

Both tea-bagging and hook-whacking are classic Hegelian Master-Slave dialectic.
I don't want to bring it up when people are like "Just don't let it bother you, why do you care? It can't harm you." in response to someone being angry about being taunted in the game. The fact that is their reaction suggests to me they haven't really put much thought into it and don't want to; talking about what a flatulent German philosopher had to say would be pointless.
In a nutshell, any time two self-concious beings meet for the first time, they are each oblivious towards the other being another self-conscious being with their own thoughts and feelings. They see each other as objects. Some people actually manage to maintain this state indefinitely: they're the people replying with "Just don't let it bother you"; it doesn't bother them because they rarely move beyond step-one when interacting with other people for the first time. The idea that someone is different to them is avoided, because it's frightening and that fear plays a big role in the steps that come after.
The process happens when one side in this game encounters the other too and it might explain how the game has changed. By hiding, the survivor is acknowledging that the killer is dangerous, the killer is the master and the survivor is in a subservient role. People instinctively resist that, no one likes being subservient. So survivors don't bother hiding, but will even get the killer's attention and try to aggravate them. It doesn't matter how the killer reacts though; the survivor is doing it for an intrinsic motivation, they would do it no matter what, because they don't want to be subservient.
Likewise, the killer hook-whacking is only read as 'yay, I got under their skin' for the sake of self-recognition, it's not an accurate reading of the killer's mind-state; they're hook-whacking for the same reason the survivor is tea-bagging: they intrinsically do not want to be subservient and they might think they're sending a message to the survivor on the hook, it's an act of self-aggrandising.
Very informative post. I enjoyed reading it. I saw you replying in a different thread in the same phylosophical manner. Do you always do that?

The reality of playing killer is that the integrity of the match and your experience is entirely protected in your favor. Killers control the game, even the worst killers have tools and mechanics built in where they can have control and still enjoy their experience even in the the most brutal scenario (hardcore SWF).
I wish i could say a survivors experience was just as protected. However, tunneling and camping is something that exists. If the killer decides to chose you for any reason what-so-ever (maybe you looped good or maybe just have TTV in your name, maybe the killer just doesnt like bills.) what is the result? Tunneling and camping of course.
Any survivor main can agree that they feel like they have literally no control over their experience in the former situation especially in a solo que, if someone gets you off the hook without borrowed and the killer just waits and goes for you, guess what, youre dead! Not a thing you can do to prevent it in the slightest, not even ping message to your team to NOT farm you. You just die. And is a major turn off for any gamer. Who would choose to play a game of david vs goliath except youre on a hook with no functioning controls. you are at a massive disadvantage in a more common than not, 1v1 situation.
Im not suggesting buff survivors. But if there was base kit borrowed time before the doors were powered, killers would know about it and choose not to tunnel, and even if they did they know theyre dealing with borrowed. Regardless, it protects the integrity of the match. Protects the experience of the survivor being tunnelled, actually giving them a CHANCE to control their character and make a play.
Moving on with this understanding and back to the topic of player base. BHVRs mindset is "Well if one players being tunneled and camped then the other 3 survivors must be having a good time and progressing towards the objective, ensuring that at least 4/5 players in the match are having a good time" At the expense of 1 minority player getting the ######### end of the stick. But what happens next BHVR? You expect that player to continue being your scapegoat? No. After repeated experiences THEY QUIT!! So who takes their place when the next tunneling killer comes along??????? REPEAT THE CYCLE.
What we have here is a steadily decreasing player base. And I think BHVR fully understands this, and is choosing to solute the problem by different means. rather than make the game fun for all 5 players, they accept that people quit games eventually and think If they keep attracting a steady income of new players, the player base should equalize, also riding on the coattails of their licenses and therefor monopoly of this flavor of game, should be enough to keep them afloat for a few more years. New killer every 3 months, licensed killer every 6 months. Just think about how many people bought this game just because they were fans of the scream movies. I know I only bought this because i was attracted to the idea of playing jigsaw. Why do you think theyre targetting stranger things next??
With still just 1 game mode after 3 years, you have to just accept that BHVR doesnt see their own work as having a long lifespan. They focus on immediate payout rather than long term quality.
I honestly think I dont have ever read this much nonsense in a post on this forum before. And the worst thing is, its not even a bait!
Like, holy #########, how can you even think that the killer is in control of the game?
-
Also make it possible to shop while queuing up. Opening a lobby as killer can sometimes take several minutes. Being able to shop during that time would make it less boring.

I quit the game in cycles. Right now, I'm in a off cycle so I'm not actively playing, but I still watch content and theory craft. I'll be honest I'm a better theorist than player, but when I cycle back on I'm going to try and push back to red ranks again. I just never have the energy to way so long between games. The wait time and dealing with bad rng on survivors lately is what takes me out of it.
Same. At this point I spend more time watching Dbd-related YT videos than actually playing myself. I just feel kind of burned out from the game right now. Especially killer.
-
Why does everyone look at PEAK players? Why not look at AVERAGE players instead. It better reflects how many people play the game on a REGULAR basis.
The game is slowly, but steadily growing since summer 2017.

She doesn't ignore 'all survivor escape mechanics' as others say: she ignores just the mechanics which survivors have developed tunnel-vision over. These are mechanics which she was explicitly designed to counter, because the devs wanted to discourage survivors from over-reliance on them but to diversify their playstyles.
Only later did the devs then start treating the exploits survivors were using as core game mechanics. They could not get away with touching the Nurse again though because they had already given her the single largest set of nerfs to any character, just shortly after release, without listening to killer feedback or explaining their reasoning; something they would go on to do repeatedly with new killers and features before peaking with Freddy's knee-jerk nerfing.
After her initial nerfing, the Nurse was the weakest killer in the game. Since then, only two things have changed that are relevent: Nurse-mains developed the way of playing her which we know of now and survivors forgot how to play against her, which would still work because whilst the newer-style capitalises on her strengths(requiring a higher skill-ceiling to be reached), her weaknesses remain the same.
In fact, the graphics engine overhaul that happened in early 2017 borked the PoV camera for all killers and would have made Nurse even harder to play. The devs have no intention of ever fixing it BTW and said so.
What kind of "borking of the killer's POV are you talking about here?
I havent been around during those early days, so I am curious.

A killer should not force someone into a specific playstyle just to have a chance verse a killer. How amazing is it to know that your skill and experience means absolutely nothing? People shouldn't be forced to sit behind a rock because the killer cannot be beat in a chase, despite your skill level.
So, its okay if survivors force the killer into a playstyle (looping), but when the killer does it, its suddenly not so okay anymore? Did I get that right?

People mistake camping for a lot of other #########. I just had a game today where a Bubba was patrolling a hook because there were three healthy survivors, two around the hook, and the other opening the exit further from the feud... And no he didn't have NoED.
In that instance, he's just trying to stop the other two survivors from getting the unhook and body blocking there way to the exit (Which they in fact did).
Well, this is camping indeed. However, camping is the only choice for the killer, if they intend to win the game.
-
Because she is the only killer that can consistently put up a fight to coordinated SWF-squads.
Survivors dont want to put effort into their escape, but prefer to ######### around during matches.
-
"survivor : its pre-ready, must be nurse im gonna equip items"
I have read that before. Do survivors actually think that killers that ready up instantly are always Nurses? I always ready up instantly, even when not playing Nurse
-
If you think Nurse is uncounterable, just look at this game of Tru3: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iiUGNXcXHXI&
Its a 3v1 with 5 gens, his blinks are on point, chases are quick, but he only gets 2 kills, both of which are after the gates are open. And he even had range add-ons.
The answer to Nurse is stealth. Iron Will, Spine Chill, Dead Hard, or Urban Evasion all work excellent on the Nurse. The Nurse cant chase you, if she cant see or hear you. Its pretty ######### simple.
-
Survivors complain about Nurse, because you cant 1v1 her, like the rest of the killer roster. You need a good team to deal with a good Nurse. No weak links are allowed.
-
Shorter wind-up time. Makes things easier on loops, and gives the survivors less time to react to your throws.
-
Dwight is pretty damn cute. I would make love with him right on the spot, if I was in the Entity's realm.
-
I play alot of Piggy, and Doctor. Once I played some matches and get sick of loops, I switch to Nurse.
-
Probably isnt as funny, when you lost the match ...
-
Moonwalking as Nurse at loops. Most survivors expect you to blink there. No one expects standard M1 killer tactics.
-
As someone who actually invested time to learn juking Nurses (partly by playing herself), I have the exact opposite direction. More Nurses mean more easy escapes for me. The chances of OP becoming an actual good Nurse are slim.
-
Dbd has alot of out of place sound effects. Like they recently added the endgame-timer sound effect to when the killer grabs out from the locker. Totally ruins the immersion.
-
The survivor in me wants dark maps. The killer in me not so much. I decided to just turn down the gamma on my monitor when playing survivor.
-
Yeah, on PC the gamefiles are 23,5 GB large. Thats too much for a game with maps that small, and subpar (at best) graphics.
Seriously, where does all this space come from? Are they just dumping in files with nonsense code, or what?
-
I dont know, I still need to wait 5 minutes to open the lobby. And another 2 minutes to fill it. Nothing has changed for me.
-
If the killer is far away, try to make as many points as possible, saves, gens, totems, anything works, and enjoy the death animation (though the animation leaves lot of room for improvement, devs).
If the killer is near, try to get chased. I know they would appreciate watching the headpop.
-
Playing high-tier killers like Nurse or Spirit helps. Though those require a considerable amount of time to learn properly. If you dont want to invest that time, you can always go for the good old instantsaw Hillibilly. But rememeber that Billy can still be looped.
Also dont play by survivor-made-up rules. Feel free to camp, tunnel, slug, or even look at survivors, if that allows you to win the game. Survivors show you no mercy, so why should you have mercy with them?
-
Once decided to play Trapper without Ruin in red ranks.
Never forget.

Why would entity be forced to watch from only one place?
Also, think about the whispers, entity is giving the killer a cue that the survivor is nearby, so she already know that they are there.
The game itself says that the Entity is watching through the killer. However that doesnt mean it doesnt have other senses too. It can hear, smell, taste, and feel survivors as well. We humans are very dependent on our vision, doesnt mean that the Entity is too.
-
The perk-description of Monstrious Shrine and Hangman's Trick imply that killers take care of their hooks. So my logical conclusion is that they appear on the maps long before the trial starts.
We have killers from very different timeperiods operating at the same in the Entity's realm, which means that for the Entity time is just another spatial dimension. Possible that killers stay on their trial-maps for weeks, while survivor only stay on the campfire for minutes.
-
The Slug Queen (Nurse)
Deerstalker, Nurses Calling, Infectious Fright, Knock Out/ Hex:Third Seal (If you are good at defending totems)
+ Range add-ons
+ Optional Yellow Mori
-
Once had a game as Nurse. I hunted down everyone so well, that 2 people got onehooked, and the other 2 twohooked. I didnt even slug. 4 kills + 5 gens + 3 minute game = easy depip.
The pipping system doesnt show how well you play, but how well everyone is at stalling the game.
-
@Rizzo said:
The queue time is ridicolous, i agree, but it has very little to do with matchmaking.
The simple answer is this: too many people are playing killer and there are not enough survivors.
Okay, but why does the killer suddenly need to wait for the lobby to be created, instead of the instant-lobby we had before the event? Isnt it possible that you guys introduced a matchmaking, that simply isnt doing its job?
-
- The main goal is to sacrifise the survivors. Remember that if the killer lets you bleed out, they get only 50 Bloodpoints for your death, and no emblem progress. They will depip if they bleed out everyone.
- Camping sucks for the survivors, yes, but you gotta see if from the killer's perspective. The killer needs an incentive to leave the hook. If they know survivors are still in the area, it would be stupid to just leave. More survivors are off generators, which means the killer will win in the long run. The best way to punish camping is by rushing generators. For a better understanding, you should play killer once in a time. Your possible solution of slowing the sacrifise progress was tested in the past, and deemed as bad. Survivors abused the mechanic, to prolong the game and give everyone more time to repair.
- Endgame Collapse doesnt mean the survivor wont escape. The new meta right now is exitgate-camping. As soon as the killer closes the hatch, you instantly open the gate. Its onyl 20 seconds without Remember Me perk. Which means you have 50% chance of escaping. Those are still good odds of escaping, considering the killer demolished your team.
- That is an issue I agree. The developers are very slow on fixing that.
- Personally I like that the survivors are just skin. It makes the game more unpredictable. A Claudette unhooking you infront of the face of the killer during endgame with Borrowed Time is always a welcome surprise.
