That was likely referring to overall rate though, which would be dragged down immensely by all the lousy Nurses at lower rank. It was probably far exceeding what it should be in mid to high rank.
Same goes for the survival rate of 4man SWF. It gets dragged down my meme-teams, and overaltruistic low rank teams. It is far exceeding in the high ranks.

@Almo said:
Did you guys see that BIG BAD ~7% extra survival rate for 4-player SWF? So in 100 4-P SWF games, 7% of your escapes are because you were in SWF instead of solo.
SWF is not as OP as everyone thinks it is. :)
If I remember correctly, the developers also said that the Nurse's killrate was not exceptionally high before her rework.
Nurse wasn't as OP as everyone thought :)

I feel like this is the new standard - purple survivors for green killers, red survivors for purple killers. Also instant killer lobbies and longer queue times when you want to play survivor.
Hints in a certain direction...
Go on.

Even if we get new content, what will keep us from not getting bored?
Well, according to the developers, paid cosmetics fix all problems.
-
Developers got lazy in so many aspects in the game. Little things like this is why it lost its atmosphere.
-
If survivors need a basically blind killer to juke properly, well then they are just bad at juking.
-
I honestly preferred the old DS over the current one, for 3 reasons:
- No counterplay. Slugging to avoid it, is not countering, its delaying. If a survivors wants to DS you, they will DS you, or you sit on their butt for full 60 seconds, doing nothing and giving up your map pressure. If you slug them, they get picked up again, either by another survivor or by Unbreakable. DS slows the momentum of a killer that downs too fast.
- You get hit by DS more, and for a longer time. Old DS had one obsession, and up to 3 non-obsession. Non-obsession DS never came into play 9 out of 10 times, unless you got greedy for the basement. You could minimise the chances even more by bringing hook offerings. It was pretty much a wasted perkslot for everyone but the obsession. Those were often extra cocky, and rarely did gens.
- It is used more. Now that DS is advertised as Anti-tunnel perk, instead of Get-out-of-Jail perk, people no longer feel bad for running it. If a killer gets DS'd, they are just labbelled as tunneller, no matter the circumstances. Pretty much every 2nd game, I get 3 or 4 survivors running DS. Before its rework there was rarely more than just one DS.
-
I personally only use it if I am about to go down. If I am healthy, and the killer has no onehit capability, I will just loop the window, and use the onhit sprintburst to preserve the pallet.
If a Hillbilly does manage to ambush me, and it comes down to either throw down the shack pallet, or me getting on a hook, I will choose to drop it.
Nothing gives the killer more pressure and momentum than a hook.
-
Dedicated servers are already enabled for over a months now on PC. If you are on console, then I am afraid you will need to wait a bit.
-
My personal problem with the new Nurse is not that she is weaker. Infact for an extremely good player she hardly changed at all. Streamers like Tru3, or Zubat still wreck left and right with her with ease.
My problem with the new Nurse is because of how newbie unfriendly and unatractive she has become. If you think it from a perspective of a new player, who plays killer, and is sick of losing. They wanna pick a character where they have a chance to win, no matter the survivors. Why would they pick the Nurse, when they can just pick the Spirit, and achieve pretty much the *same* results but with 10 times less effort and time investment? Even after the Spirit nerfes, she will still be a far superior choice over the Nurse.
For new players there is no reason to pick Nurse. This is why her change was bad.
-
When I started the game, I always went easy on survivors when disconnects were involved. Even in the dark times of old Decisive Strike.
However over the time, I started to feel less and less empathy towards the survivors, purely because they near enough never returned the favour to me, if I am having a bad match, or I am running a meme build (No blink Nurse, Burgerking Myers, etc).
Now I am a true killer, and mercilessly hook everything that breathes on the map.
Survivors wanted it that way.
-
Must be injured. On windows it only works on slow or medium vaults.

Let's completely take emblems out of this, since as you've mentioned, it varies from killer to killer.
I would hesitate to say that killers should only be balanced around four really good survivors, though. Unless you're comparing average to average, it's a little unfair to expect an average side (whichever that happens to be) to still win against a person/people who are really good. That, to me, would say that there's a huge balance problem if someone who's okay at the game can beat someone who's great at it. It would be like giving me a fair shot at beating someone who's top 500 in Overwatch- I shouldn't, I'm nowhere near as good as them. They should be compared to other top 500 people.
Survivors can do exactly that. They can team up in a premade SWF group, and win even against great players with little effort. All they need to do is being fast on generators, and stack up some second chance perks.

Don't forget one that rewards you using your power with... removing your power!
Well done indeed.
Legion wants to know your location.

The killer can't hear, because of chase music.
Now the kiler can't see because their cloak is in the way!
Devs:
-
I used to be a nice killer. Even in the times of garunteed hatch and old decisive strike, I always gave the last person the hatch, no matter how they played.
However over the years, and months, I started to do it less and less. Only did it on non-toxic ones, or when disconnects where involved.
Now I never give hatch/gate anymore, simply because survivors never returned the favour to me. They never gave me anything if I had a rough match, or if I was running a meme build or something. They would always play to win, and treat me like an AI, and not like an actual human being.
Survivors chose it that way.

@yeet said:
the number one thing is that she is just completely unfun to play, it's not even a discussion of balance, nurse is now just tedious and frustrating.
why is it that balance comes secondary to fun only when it's the survivors enjoyment at stake?
The answer is pretty simple.
Its a 4 versus one. 4 survivors for every 1 killer.
-
Depends on whether you are solo or with SWF.
As solo, it can be quite skillful. Lots of prediction regarding your teammates' action is required to be successful as solo. You as a single person needs to be good at evading the killer, be at chases or stealth, while at the same time make sure generators get done at a reasonable pace.
In a 4-man SWF group on the other hand, even a chimpanzee could win 90% of the games. Purely because of communication and coordination. Having infuence on your fellow mates' action, knowing what they are doing, and coordinating your efforts towards a single goal, like a risky unhook, or breaking a 3generator strategy means you as a single entity don't need to be good at the game.
-
I don't mind the footsteps, or the breathing of my killer.
I do mind though the stupid ambient music. This stupid "Duh-duh-duuuuh-duh-duh-duuuuuh", making it impossible to hear survivor breathing, or some grass rustling. Or the carry music, which makes it hard to notice people running around me as I carry a survivor. Especially annoying with this bug where when someone diconnects during the pickup, you have that music playing until your next pickup.
I just hate it in general how the killer's senses are artificially restricted, because the survivors are to stupid to actually hide effectively from you.
-
Its easy to get a facecamp from a killer.
Like just the other day, I got facecamped by a Billy because I abused the ever living ######### out of the braindead window loop on Ironworks of Misery.
I mean, I get that window is absolute bullshit. I encounter it all the time when I play killer. And if you want to win a match, you just gotta leave anyone going for that busted #########. Nothing you can do about it, because the developers refuse to do something about it.
-
Gens before friends.
-
As far as I gathered Behaviour is okay with that. But they reserve themelves a "Do at your own risk"-policy. If EAC were to ban you for that, Behaviour would not intervene.
Though I see several popular streamers editing perk icons, and killer/survivor pictures in the main menu with no punishment, so atleast for now EAC doesn't care about it.
-
I extensively edited my configs files for better FPS, because this game is so horrible optimised, its disgusting, and every programmer should feel shame for it.
I have been doing this for over a year now, with no consequences so far. So I think its save to say that atleast EAC doesn't have a problem with it.

Why would you have more fun playing against her pre-rework? She blinked more often, and had less downtime between blinks.
She is now boring to verse. You can near enough outrun her now by running straight forward. If you have like a 10-20m headstart of her by the time she fatigues, she needs the entire map to even catch up to you, even on the biggest maps. This is even more boring than looping.
By the time she catches up to you, you just need to successfully LOS mindgame her ONCE, and you can run to the other side of the map with ease again.
-
I would love to see the results of the survey. Transparency is the most satisfying thing a company can do.
-
Decisive Strike is the strongest perk in the game (on par with Hex:NOED). It gives you 60 seconds uncontested immunity. No skill from the survivor side required at all. You can use it to prevent tunnelling, you can use it to annoy the killer, you can use it for whatever you want. No other perk can give you that. There is no reason to not run it.
-
The week I put on old Decisive Strike, and a Flashlight, because I needed to blow off some steam from real life.
-
Looping is so boring. Safe pallet after safe pallet after safe pallet. Spirit mixes things up. I like it.
-
@coppersly said:
Well the answer used to be Nurse. Learn her and the only time you lose is when they actually adapt and change their playstyle or you played badly. SWF or not if you were skilled you could very often crush a SWF, especially if they had to rescue the weak links often.
Now though? Just sit in a corner and give up. If they're optimal there just isn't much you can do. It's often more fun and less stressful to go stare at a corner than take their BM.
You still have Spirit!
...
Yet.

It is a bluff.
You are saying "eat my ds or leave. You wont slug me"
And if there's someone else around, the killer might go for them instead.
Its not a bluff, because the killer loses nothing from opening the locker.
-
@Alice_pbg said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/820063#Comment_820063
That's the thing about bluffs.
If someone calls it... you're screwed
Its not really a bluff, since the killer has one optimal way, which is eating the DS. Basically you are gambling that the killer you are versing is inexperienced. That is not the same as a bluff in, say, poker.
-
Smart killers will just eat the DS from the locker.
If you think about it, it would be stupid to let that survivor get away just because you can't slug them. If you leave them alove, they will jump out again and heal, or if they are ballsy, instantly hop on a generator again. If you just open the locker, you have a chance they are bluffing or they miss the skillcheck. Meaning a free hook. In every other case, you just loose 7-ish seconds (locker grab + stun), and now have a survivor with no DS left.
-
Developers love cooldowns. See what they did with Nurse.
They would also probably attach a cooldown to their lives, if that was possible.
"Oh, I just pissed 5 minutes ago, but I need to piss again! Damn, I am on 10 minutes cooldown!"
-
Fun times with old Nurse.
-
-
I might be biased obviously, but I don't see many toxic Kates. Some of them might be good, and tend to play sweaty SWFs, but they are not toxic or aggressive. Pallet stunning, flashlight blinding, or BTing their teammates is not toxic.

Put it this way, if you ban people for face camping then your lobby times are going to get hit even harder. It's a legit strategy, maybe one you don't like but hey, i don't like SWF but I still have to put up with it. What rank are we talking out of interest?
Judging by how they say DS is anti-tunnel only, and BT isnt even a strong perk, I would say nothing higher than green ranks.

If the developers remove that bug, and not make it a feature, I am legit quitting the game. Because that would be the ultimate proof that the developers are 100% not listening to feedback from their community. Litterally no one would be against that bug being turned into a feature.

Dang, turns out when you introduce an absurdly lengthy timesink of a grinding system that is entirely reliant on time played, people are going to set up a farming system to avoid the massive timesink.
Who could have seen that coming? Surely there was no way to predict this. The Rift system totally isn't poorly thought out and excessively grindy or anything.
Its almost like .... the devs ... they don't know anything about their own game.

Its true that your Internet no longer causes lags for the survivors, however that doesn't mean you can't rubberband on other people's screens. I have played with lag as killer, and versed laggy killers on dedicated servers.
My experiences have been weird with that, because sometimes the servers prioritise the killer's input, and sometimes they don't. As laggy killer I have got responses from survivors telling me I teleport around loops, while having my own movement being slowed down on my screen in the very same matches. As survivor, I have seen teleporting killers too, and observed them being ######### by a lagspike, they got stuck on nothing, out in the open, during chases, where no killer would ever stop.
It all doesn't make any sense to me, and I see no pattern regarding when the killer gets the benefit of doubt by the server, or when not.
So my conclusion is that its not your fault. Its the servers fault for deciding in the killer's favour or not. RNG I guess?

Even that would be fine. I just think something needs to be done about it. I feel like it’s a great feature for new players, but it’s almost as unknown as hill billy Myers.
Hillbilly Myers! Now that brings back some good memories.
-
I don't think it should be forced, but it should definetely be more advertised. Similar to the news pop up you get, or the window for the daily rituals. If you have to manually click it away, people are less likely to decline it.
-
Waving your arms likes 2 times a second means killer is patrolling hook, or camping, or facecamping you. Basically: Don't bother rescuing.
Waving like once every 10 seconds means everything is clear, and no one is going for me. Basically: I need someone for rescue now.
