same for me , seemed like as soon as I took that one I didn't see a map with crows .

I don't get why unhooking give that many points to other objectives,
save one person gives more points than doing a FULL generator from start to finish
So I experiment "being a complete as_hole" for one game,
Never do gens, only crouch around hooks and save people even in front of killer's face,
with no borrow time what-so-ever, occasionally loot some chest for my own's benefit.
cleanse some dull totems for more points and doesn't help my team win at all.
AND I GOT REWARDED, 19k without even escaping, more than any teammate in game who was doing work:
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/552/JRQUPBOO5IYV.jpg
Excuse me BHVR, balance the score event please?
This encourage a really really disgusting play style for survivors
a point you might have missed , scoring . Doing a gen is obj , so is cleansing totems and chests . Plus inactive totems are now what 1k bp's each so basically that is 5k bp's on the map , more if active .
while I will agree that any safe unhook will award more bp's in general , unsafe unhooks also penalize the whole team . so if you do nothing but unhook and your the only one doing it , yes you will get mass bp's for it to the max you can earn , but also every unsafe unhook you do will only screw the teams bp's thus making theirs go backwards while you are maxing . Yes its a numbers game and no its not fair . but would you rather have less for unhooking safely ?
-
Here is a thought , especially for those talking about the numbers . First , how can they tell what swf groups are using voice coms and who are not ? secondly when talking about solo vs swf polling numbers is that by rank or by player base ?
If you are polling the entire player base there are more lower tier survivors playing solo then swf , also less organized players in those brackets . at red ranks , where most of the complaints about it come from what are the numbers ?
IMO , a red ranked survivor who got there playing solo is probably the far superior survivor then someone who relied on voice coms and organization . So if you put 4 player who got there solo into a organized swf with voice coms or even not they will probably do great , but if you take the swf and voice coms from the player who relied on it to get there and made them play solo they probably will not do so great .
Voice coms are a issue , the choice of using them or not aside , they can bring in chaos and unwanted childish bs , but they offer a whole new level of gameplay as well . Before you debate that , here is a perfect RL example . Why does spec ops use coms (yes they do go radio silent but also use hand signals in its place at that point) , to coordinate and to their advantage . Now before you say well that is a military special forces group , a small town county sheriffs offices uses them for the same reason but on a different level of skill . This is no different here , 4 players with a high skill level and voice coms are the spec ops of the game , your mid levels are the county sheriffs , and well trolls will always be trolls .
So if the devs are playing mid to low end matches with voice I can see them not being so different . Its only really a huge issue when the player work together and get organized .

If you make more bloodpoints as a survivor than you do as a killer then you are both a god tier survivor and an awful killer. The difference between BBQ and WGLF alone heavily favors killers. Killers also get bloodpoints all for doing the same thing: finding and killing survivors. Survivors have a larger variable factor in the bloodpoints they earn.
Through no fault of an individual survivor's own they might be forced into a specific role like gen jockey or killer distraction for an entire match. In which case the player would quickly max out the bloodpoints earned in a specific category and earn very few in the other categories. Also there is inherently more risk as a survivor. If the killer decides to slug a survivor then that is up to 4 minutes of sitting around on the ground earning 0 bloodpoints.
Personally im a ok survivor , better killer imo . But what I said was faster games and faster bp's . Killer matches for me are average of 27-32k bp's , survivor average maybe 20k , but I can play 2 survivor matches faster then I can get and play one killer , thus faster games and faster bp's .
Im sorry you didn't understand what I was saying there . I never intended to say survivors earned more bp's then killers , because you are right , if you get stuck being the only one doing gens , or doing hook rescues , or anything of the sort you wont score well . Killer will always be the easier bp farm since your 4 pools are just through gameplay , unlike survivors who need to heal , need to do obj , need to be in chases .
if survivor is instant que times and matches last 10 mins , 2 games is 20 mins , 3 is 30 mins and if you average 15k bps that is 45k bp's , now if killer is only 20 mins que times and 10 mins match and you get a perfect game and do 32k for the same 30 mins your down 13k bp's over survivor . I am of course using base numbers since there are many factors to bolster those , perks , and offerings alike . So you don't have to be a god player as survivor and only be decent to still outpace killer on bp's and heaven forbid its a new killer week or free to play weekend because killer ques will triple .

I agree with you in the fact that there was no delay just for the fun of it , that there was reason and cause to delay it . I have seen in the past many times that some heavy bugs make it live with patches and know how that feels .
At the same time though , when you , how was it put , change the foundation . That you know there will be some major issues arise and to not plan for those things properly is where a lot of the frustration comes from . you don't knock a houses foundation out to replace it without support and a way to be sure it will hold once the new one is in place unless you want it to fall in on you , and this is what it seems has happened .
you have to find a better balance between ambition and deadlines imo . Ambition is great , it drives and keeps progressing things forward but when combined with deadlines that are not well placed you don't have time to test , to make sure things work and what is the end result , This . If nothing else a plan b for a holiday event should have been in place . Release it like it was intended since the devs have stated that the event was nothing more then a bp event , that the serums were now part of the rift and would run the full time of the rift rather then the event itself . I think that is what has people up in arms , no event at all when the two were not connected other then by story .

Games require 4 survivors for every 1 killer. One of the biggest surprises to me is that games start as fast as they do as a killer. When you look at what a "survivor" is, it seems like a really tough sale's pitch.
"So you get to go up against a killer. You can't hurt or defeat the killer in any way. You basically hide from the killer and work on generators doing endless skill checks. If the killer finds you all you can do is try to run away using windows or dropping pallets to escape. If the killer catches you, then the killer will hang you on a meat hook as bait for the other survivors or leave you bleeding out on the ground for up to 4 minutes. It's super fun. Try it."
That doesn't sound very appealing to me at all and it is a pretty accurate account of what it is like to be a survivor. Yet for any game to start it requires 80% of the players in a match to agree to do just that. Oh.. and as a bonus, you'll earn about half the reward as the killer for assuming 100% of the risk.
The truly amazing thing is that I get games usually as a killer within a few minutes. It is much, much longer waiting for games on PC than consoles. I don't know if it is because PC players have figured out that playing as a survivor is a waste of time or because there is some underlying issue with matchmaking.
you almost hit the nail on the head . It requires 100k survivors to launch 25k matches and when rank matchmaking is in effect you need to be within 6 ranks of each other . This will lead to longer killer ques in general .
To say that pc players have decided that survivor isn't easy or fun to play is incorrect and anyone with 1800+ posts has been around long enough to know this . Its only when the balance is shifted heavily to survivors that they will get a major nerf , see first part for reason . Its harder to maintain a player base of 100k survivor mains , then it Is 25k killers . When they want more killer players they release a free to play weekend or a new killer , this is just smart marketing .
Here is another thing to consider . I consider myself a killer main , so why do I play survivor more then killer , faster matches , faster bp's . I think this also is why a lot of players play survivor more then killer . Yes to me killer is more fun , but to advance the fastest I can I play survivor .

they have been trying to fix a lot of things for the past 3 years , matchmaking , totem placements , and loops . Here we are 3 years later and people still act surprised that these issues are still around …

I love the new Freddy. Whenever I'd face the old Freddy he was always face camping at the hook. Now he is all over the map and fun to play as and against.
he was probably the worst to camp with since you couldn't grab or hit if the survivor wasn't asleep already , also why I said 3-4k matches because if the hatch was opened and the last survivor wasn't asleep you had no chance to get them (couldn't close the hatch then) and by the time you put one to sleep they was out the hatch already .
-
IMO , the old freddy was far stronger then the newer version if you knew how to play him and had the right perks and add-ons , but yes he was very add-on dependent . I never had a issue getting 3-4k with him , but there was a certain set of perks and add-ons to use and you knew where every survivor was the whole match . This is what prompted the change , those who knew how to play him would ruin games for survivors .
Class photo and pill bottle gave you a extended 2 min sleep timer and the ability to aura read all survivors while one was being put to sleep . so once the first person was tagged you knew all survivors location and just run to the next , once they was sleeping you knew where they was anyways , combine that with other aura reads like nurses , bbq or whatever and you could keep the chain going the whole game and end it quick without a camp or tunnel and usually with 3-5 gens remaining .

Wraith - seems simple to me , denerf him , he used to have a very nice speed boost when coming out of cloak , but survivors couldn't handle the fact that cloaked he could catch up to them and with the right add on he could come out of cloak fast enough they couldn't counter it unless they used dead hard or stood at a pallet/vault waiting for his decloak animation to start .
Trapper - not sure his basekit speed but if its less then 4.6 I would say that is a start ( I don't play him much ) , maybe adding a extra trap or two to basekit allowing him less setup time at the start of the game .
Hag - I feel she is about a midgame , but once again basekit increase on speed maybe if anything , that or a longer range for teleports but that might overpower her being able to cross maps like the demo , course it would also be situational on a survivor triggering a trap .
Doc - this is a difficult one , personally I think he needs a redesign , there are part of him that are too good and then others that just plain arnt . His situational awareness is soo strong because you can never get out of tier 2 madness (phantom docs) and can easily end up there passively , the screams when hes anywhere near you , between those two anything you do to boost him might just overpower him . I think before they do anything to improve him he would need at least the ability for survivors to get out of tier 2 madness .
The issue with buffing/nerfing any killer vs survivors -
Survivors are all cookie cutter , the only difference is the skin , they all move at the same rate , they all have the same perk list , they all have the same items and add-ons , basically all survivors are one survivor from a balance perspective .
Killers they have unique powers , thus they have different basekits , which becomes a issues at times when deciding on what to do and not to . And unfortunately they cant do killers like they do survivors and make things interchangeable , it would detract from the want to get some killers , make them feel less unique , I mean could you see a blinking myers , or freddy vomiting all over everyone and everything (actualy I think that was in one of the movies so bad example) . Here is the real issue I think , a killer who can do their job(kill) easily is overpowered , one who can do their job is about right , one that struggles is underpowered , but the problem is its all a matter of perspective Killer , survivor , dev , and swf survivor with organization . Ive played both sides and ive played in swf organized groups , so I can see the difference (why I don't play swf anymore) . this is why its all a matter of perspective , the pre nerf nurse against solo survivors was very strong , but for a swf organized not so much .
Although the game isn't a e sport game , think of it in that sence for a moment , swf organization are your big teams you see in competition , solo survivors are your everyday players , how can you expect to make a killer fair for both playstyles , they will either dominate the everyday players or suffer against the organization , this is the one huge downside/downfall to this game and a balance will never be obtained because of it , Im not saying get rid of organization or swf , but if they would just add voice to all survivors (if they use it or not is then up to them and no room to complain) and balance around that it would be soo much easier . This has been the debate since people figured out combining discord or ts or whatever you want to use with this game gave them a organizational advantage , and has been going on for years .
-
when a certain type of player peaks their heads out from under the bridge they live under the best way to turn the tables on them is to ignore them and talk to other survivors who are actual human beings . They get soooo mad when they cant get a reaction or the spotlight they crave . I had one cream at me for like 5 mins to say GG to him specifically , I talked to the other survivors and ignored him (he was the first to die anyways and the highest rank , lol) . you could tell he was just getting more worked up and even the other survivors were laughing at him , I ended up thanking the survivors by name (excluding him) for a great game before I left the lobby , ohh and the first thing I typed was a general GG in chat , but he was demanding his personal GG which he never got , lol .

It would be a little backwards to have that, to be fair. The biggest thing for a killer is building up pressure early on. You'd ideally like to be as strong as possible as soon as possible. Getting stronger with each hook/kill is neat on paper, but in practice, it just means that you're weak when you need to down people the fastest and way stronger than you need to be when there's only one or two survivors left. At that point, the ball is already in your court. You don't need to be crazy strong when there's only two people left, it'd be overkill. Having someone dead on its own skews things in your favour massively; that's one less person that can do gens or go for a save.
There are some perks that work that way, though, if that's what you're after. Devour Hope, Dying Light, Huntress Lullaby, Thanataphobia, etc.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/768227#Comment_768227
That's a very interesting perspective, but no, that's not the case. There's actually an excess of killers right now, so that theory is already right out the window. Killer queue times on average tend to be longer than survivor queue times (outside of Japan) at the moment. Beyond that, I'm not exactly sure what you mean by base kit nerfs for survivors. Survivors don't have powers that you can change, only perks. Most of the survivor perks have been nerfed significantly over the years, and even the basics such as vaulting have been toned down dramatically. Even the level design has shifted to more unsafe pallets.
I could grab you some old footage to show you how much things have changed, if you like, but choosing to ignore anything that doesn't support your point doesn't strengthen your case.
sorry I didn't get a chance to respond , had things to do today and haven't been on forums . What do I mean by basekit nerfs , how about instead of items they have one per assigned to a specific survivor , jake for instance sabotage , clauds self care , that is what I mean . when you say a excess of killers , im not sure if you mean the number of killers in game or the number playing killer , but either way im fairly sure that both numbers are less then survivors , so how is that a excess ? yes ques are longer , but like you said lets go back a little over a year before the self heal nerf , I believe the killers had the shortest ques , as I stated survivors get minor adjustments until they end up with longer ques then get hit hard .
I never said that they didn't get nerfs , just not major ones unless numbers of survivors vs killers need to be adjusted . is only takes 10k killers to run 10k matches but it requires 40k survivors . And yes I do know about the early map designs and endless loops that have been changed to some degree and most of these changes are still going on 3 years later . Just like the issue about totem placement has been around since launch , some work has been done but the issue still remains . I have never been anti BHVR , matter fact in other threads ive been called a fanboy because I supported things like premium rift . But I do call things how I see them , and from a marketing and money making perspective as well as what changes have and haven't been done over the three years now , there is a noticeable pattern .
Like I said to the op though , a killer like that isn't good marketing and something as simple as a ebony mori would shunt the game soo much to that one killers side it wouldn't be funny . Personally I like to have fun , a fast game isn't usually fun (if they are toxic and I have a ebony by some stroke of luck then its satisfying) , neither is something that seems impossible , which is why I avoid playing at rank reset . anyone who has played me can attest to the fact that if I play someone who to me seems out of their league I take it easy on them and usually let them live no matter the outcome , I like for people to have fun . a good game to me is where after the match you can talk like human beings rather then something living under a bridge . Ohh and I play more survivor then killer just so you know , but your a dev and im sure could look that up should you choose . I enjoy playing killer more then survivor , but with limited time I go for whats the fastest , and no I don't use SWF either .
-
actually if a killer dc's they do get a bonus in the terms of a free escape bonus of 5k . Should the game play to full there is no guarantee that they would escape or get the full credit . This is most obvious when a killer dc's at the start of a match and everyone get the escape bonus of 5k for not even playing 20 secs . while the killer only gets 2500bp when a survivor dc's and they loose the ability to gain bonuses for things like bbq and they take a negative hit of 25% loss of bonus bp's total . I play for bp's and I would rather get a stack of bbq for a dc then the 2500 because in the end 25% of my total is usually a lot more then 2500 .
-
because the company is the in the business of making money and they don't want to tick off survivors by adding a killer who with a mori would make the game harder and harder . if you have played this long enough you would see a trend , they only really hit survivors with big nerfs when the survivor ques get long because no one is playing killer because the games are so one sided . But to keep the appearance of equality they do small things constantly to survivors while completely redoing killers for "the better" .
Take the freddy rework , he was considered one of the worst killers in the game , yet they kept talking about how he was so unfair to survivors , now he is a bit more powerfull and easier to play but he is also weaker then the right build with the right addons were on old freddy . Class photo and pill bottle that would give you a extended 2 mins sleep timer and the ability to see all the others auras , you just chained them to sleep and chased down the last survivor . this was better then ruin , and using other aura perks like bbq and nurse you could see all survivors almost all the time . that is why they changed him and his add ons . If survivors cant deal with it they change it , plain and simple .
the nurse changes , she is still a valid killer but dependant like freddy was on add ons , you can boost her speed to normal killer speed but loose the ability to blink through objects , so if you run the right perk and add ons she will be considered overpowered still because she can still use blink to catch a survivor in the open . next im sure will be spirit .
Meanwhile the survivors get nerfs to things like insta heal which if you had to rely on one item to make or break the game then you need to play better , its not like they are changing the whole basekits on survivors , they haven't realy fixed totems placement but instead added survivors the ability to find and locate them easier and even perks for destroying them giving a added bonus to something they should want to do . they are giving them more and more ability to aura read killers or counter aura reads .
You have to understand that BHVR wants to make money and in a 4 v 1 game you don't want to make massive changes to the 4 and run the risk of killing your income , if you run off killer mains the odds are they will become survivors or you just run a free to play and sale to get new killers in , easier to replace 10k killers then 50k survivors , plus to be honest new blood means new money potential . So if you want a high turn over rate its in the killers not the survivors .

So I see a lot of Killers complaining about loops but I don't get why.
I was red rank before reset and main the Hag.
Idk if that's bc I have enough game experience or bc I play one of the best anti-loop killer but I don't really have any troubles with "infinite loops". I had troubles with insta-heal and stuff like that but vaults, pallets and loops are pretty balanced imo.
Is it that bad or are ppl exagerating ? I'd like someone else's opinion on this.
it depends on the skill of the survivor and what killer and skill they have as well as which map . We already know that the right map has infinite loops unless you have a killer who can stop them , eg nurse or hag . I think its more about people complaining that they want to play a certain killer who isn't anti loop and still feel like they are on a equal footing rather then playing at a loss . If killers were like survivors and they all had the same speed and the only difference was the perk and ability think about how much survivors would cry it unfair .
A lot of it boils down to if you don't want to play a anti loop killer then you feel punished by loops and if the ptb was any indication then you wont have bloodlust anymore to help as if you loose sight for more then 1 sec or a dead hard happens you will loose bloodlust . this was the experience I was enjoying on ptb the range was shortened and the ability to duck while I moved around a object was enough to loose any bloodlust thus making looping even harder to deal with unless you could play anti loop .

I don't buy many skins myself , and the ones I have I regretted only because I don't use the char , or they got nerfed enough I don't use them . though I admit if they added a Guy Fawkes mask to like Myers or Ghostface I would get it in a heartbeat even if I didn't play them (which would never happen because they are licensed killers) . Though I do admit the day of the dead david and even legion skins im tempted on .

Why do you expect the devs to take time to read and respond to a post when you cant take the time to put it in the correct forum ? Then you get upset because they don't respond , I wouldn't if I was them , they have enough going on in those already . Why expect them to search through every single forum for people that cant or wont take the time to post in the right spots ?

if the team is organized swf , using your numbers you could get 4 gens done but only with organization . 3 one a gean each for 80 secs for the first 3 and the 4 triple teamed , and this is assuming there is 0 progress on any gens on the map by the time the first person is actually hooked . If for instance three are half done by the first hook then in theory you could even get 5 gens . but once again this is a organized swf group vs a camping killer and that never happens in this game ...
That being said it also depends on what someone considers a win , me personally I would rather advance on with my killers and get new perks as fast as I can . once I have them all perked out I will take a second look at what I think is valid . But as it stands camping to me is useless , I get more bp's the longer the game last , the more hooks I get . Ive used ebony mori and get 1 hook each and a 4k and the game was over fast , I de pipped , I got maybe 10-12k bp and it felt like a cheap win , so I don't use them unless I need a kill by your own hands and when I do I try to wait for the last hook to mori for bp's sake , unless someone really was just toxic and then I get them out of the game fast so I can enjoy the rest of it .
As far as how to deal with a camper , that is the survivors call , if they want to gen rush and get the game over causing the killer and maybe themselves to depip while he camps the hook . or to go for the saves and hand him more hits and more bp's for it , just feeding him . As a solo survivor if hes camping I can understand why they would gen rush they don't have the organization needed to get killer away , as a organized swf I can see them going for the saves as they have the advantage of their organization , but other then that I don't really see much of any options .

yes she is in the premium , takes level 23 in the rift to get her full outfit and she is actualy cheaper then buying it from the store . But they did say that there will be no exclusives on the rift that you will be able to purchase things from the rift it just might take 6 months .
Also keep in mind that the rift last 70 days , and she was never announced as a blighted outfit for release with the event . the event itself is for the items that give bonus bp for gens and hooks according to the devs , that the rift will run the full course of 70 days and serums will be able to be earned through that time and don't expire till shortly after the rift closes , also they are on the free side .
So basically her outfit was a unannounced one intended for premium rift , you can still earn 2 from the free rifts and she will be available in the store some time after the rift closes (which is what the end of December 22nd of oct + 10 weeks is dec 31st) .
Edit , I just looked , right now the hallowed blight outfits are on sale with a 25% discount making them 900 cells a set , and they have been cells only ever since they was released so the nurse on a 1000 cell rift is actually cheaper then the normal price . the real question is can you make 23 levels in over a 2 month period to make it worth lessened cost , or would you rather wait till maybe summer to buy it outright . Personally if I was planning to get it (and I am) , as well as earn the free rift serums for the other 2 outfits I think its worth the 1000 cells since im doing rift for serums anyways . If there wasn't anything of value to me on the premium I wouldn't do it unless I made the point of getting cells back . But this I just my thoughts on it .

Remember they're adding hookable husks after Survivors DC.
can you hook and mori it ? when is this live vs when would the mori change be ? basing things on something they will do sometime is not a good way to nerf , look at the freddy rework , took them longer then a year to actually get to that . Untill something is on ptb I don't count it as a mechanic valid for debate about ideas for nurfs , I look at the way things are . Yes im a killer main , and im not screaming don't nerf it , I say fine , just be realistic about it .

If a survivor dcs you still get an advantage as the killer. Even if you can't mori the rest of the survivors you "mori" one earlier (by having them dc).
not for me , like I said I use mori for kill by your own hands rituals , if you have to hook each person once to mori then a dc have nulled the mori entirely . if its a 2 hook for bp then if like bbq its a 25% reduction to bonus , but ritual would still be able to complete .
People who dc will not count as a mori for rituals , just like if they happen to be the obsession they will null any perks a killer has associated to it . This has been a issue for a long time , and why I tend to run as few if any obsession perks .
Yes a dc would give the 3v1 advantage to the killer , but if that obsession was the dc then not only did it null the mori but half or all your perks as killer , that would greatly increase the odds of the survivors even in a 3v1 . Even though they were supposed to be adding a ban for dc's I have yet to hear anyone complain about getting one , and I still see them in my killer and survivor games way too often . Not to mention if you see a secret killer offering and dc before the match loads it doesn't count against you anyways ...
-
trouble with the hook everyone once method or any method that doesn't involve a single person only is the fact that people dc too often . If survivors see a secret offering they assume its a mori , all it would take to negate the offer is for one to dc with that method .
the bp bonus would be a nice addition to the nerf of two hooks , this way instead of 4 hooks and 4k you would need 8 hooks to 4k mori but you get a bonus for the extra effort , maybe like a bbq buff 25% bonus for each mori , be it to all or just one category .
Also mori bypasses DS , hook travel time , destroyed hooks and flashlight saves , so its not for nothing , course if they have been hooked twice ds would have been used already . If they did a full bbq buff to BP I think I would actualy start using the 200 or so ebonies I have on my killers . I only tend to use them now on rituals that I need to kill by your own hands , that way I can take one out at choice .

I see that BHVR was successfully able to ignore the community's concerns over the time & difficulty of the Rift. So much so there is not a single thread on the first page any longer. All without ever making a statement.
Depressing. If anyone is listening BHVR please talk to us. I REALLY want to buy the premium pass but not if casual players can't finish it.
I would honestly hope the devs have better things to do then comment on one or all of the 100's of posts in the general forum about features and changes on the PTB for a upcoming patch .
I mean its not like there is a PTB forum for them to already monitor , or a feedback forum , or a bug forum , in order for them to monitor such things … ohh wait there is , so please tell me again why you expect them to be responding on a general forum when you cant even take the time to post in the correct areas?
Now if you have (and im sure you will say so) posted in the correct forums and have not gotten the response you want then why not post this thread there ?

funny thing about that one there , ive had it before running a ruin/thrill build , they got the thrill but in the end game everyone kept asking where ruin was because they couldn't find it . they were all over it , chassed 2 people past it and they never noticed it out in the open .

To make the game more casual friendly. How about adding a 1 time per day rift tier skip for completing a game. 1 skip on killer and 1 skip on survivor. If that’s too easy then maybe instead the daily challenge you get will also award you with a free tier skip for completing the challenge
that would completely negate the rift , 2 levels per day , 70 days is the length , you would finish the whole 70 level rift in 35 days playing 2 games a day without ever looking at archives or ever getting a level .
Now if it was a single shard a day for a total of 2 , that would seem okish as it would take a min of 2 games a day for 5 days to get one level , thus giving you a free 14 of the 70 levels in that method .
-
actually you forgot , No BBQ , No Ruin , No NC , No Franklins , No traps not plainly visible and so on .
For the most part I rarely ever use noed except a couple end game builds or one killers who just don't have better perks yet . I do everything I can to not tunnel or camp , but sometimes the survivors don't make that easy , if you unhook in front of me yes im gonna try to slug the unhook down , usually I leave them down and chase the person responsible for the -bp they just got . If im walking away and I see scratch marks headed right for the hook of course im going for that person , im not ignoring a obvious trail just to keep going to other side of map unless im running something that requires the distance .
Mostly I play for bp's and for fun , so if I get 20k+ and I don't kill but one person and I had fun then its a win . But im not playing my game by some made up set of ideals someone else has because they don't like the perks I have available . do survivors typically stop running their meta perks , if not then they have no reason to complain about my perk choices . And yes I will use franklins when I see a group in the lobby with 3 toolboxes or 2 medkits or a bunch of flashlights or a key , why , because I assume the meds are insta , toolboxes mean they plan to gen rush , flashlights and key well just don't like em to be honest .
-
Maybe just add more levels and less level degrading . 18-20's already have no limit to matchmaking so if they play a 15 killer out of 30 ranks hwos that any different then playing a 13 killer who was rank 1 a couple months ago and just depiped .
-
maybe im a purist because I grew up watching the original black and whites , same for the munsters . I didn't like the scripts for the movies more then the actors but I do admit that Ricci made a good wensday
-
none of the above , I won if I have a good game , something that was neither too long or short , something that wasn't toxic and instead fun , to me that is a win no matter how many live or dies .
Maybe it is because there are so few games that the after math isn't someone trash talking and instead actually talking because they had a good game . for me I play to have a good time , if its too easy its not fun , if it seems impossible its not fun , a win is actualy having fun and not feeling like I have to stress about the game .

according to the dev posting , not sure if it was just wiki that was pulled or they pulled the dev post too , but the event will not work like hallowed blight . You get a item to get a gen or hook in game that will give bonus bp , serum will be done though the rift . So no more extra objective , and no bonus outside of the targeted gens and hooks .

The main issue I have with the latest money grab they have implemented is that I still can't take the dlc Ive bought from xbox and use it on pc.
I should have bought it on the pc instead, sure... but now I've dumped somewhere near 80 bucks into my account on xbox and I can't use it on the pc at all.
I would be fine with that, except that now, to top it all off, they have a new moneygrab they want to drain their playerbase with, without any compensation.
I bought this game before it was made free through xbox game pass, I bought it for my wife, I brought in over 10 of my friends to buy this game (many of which didn't stick around because of the blatant issues).
I refuse to buy the same DLC all over again AND to be slapped in the face by the new premium battle pass BS. I won't even waste my time taking part in it if this is how our "new content" is going to be.
I can totally agree with you on one aspect , it would be nice you be able to transfer from one platform to another , but unfortunately I can see why now . when you buy something on xbox your paying Microsoft , on pc its steam and on PS its sony , so that is 3 separate retailers . Would be like buying a game at walmart and then asking target to refund it . none of those 3 retailer want to give anything away and that is what they would have to do in order for you to transfer from one platform to another . this is also why certain games are able to be done from windows and xbox , because they are both Microsoft .
I can understand your frustration , I have started a game on one platform only to decide I like it better on another .

This game ain't free to play to begin with since you have to pay to play the game in the first place
ill be honest that I tire of this argument . Simply put if you go to Walmart and by the new modern warfair or gta are you buy the game or paying to play it ? if you buy the board game clue , bring it home and you and 5 friends sit down and play it , is it costing you or your friends anything to play . everyone assumes that paying for a license or ownership mean they are paying to play , no , to play is action its what you do after you buy . right above your post is websters definition of play , people are assuming that free to play is also free to purchase , never did I say there wasn't a price to buy or purchase the program , but the game is in fact free to play (no cost to move a piece in a game) . think about it , when you went to steam or whatever and you clicked what buy , purchase in order to get the program , that is not the same as playing it , that is acquiring ownership of .
EDIT: this is also why steam is embroiled in legal issues in france right now , ownership or purchases , according to france I think it is that loot boxes are gambling , and if someone is completing a purchase they are buying ownership and thus have to right to resell such licenses . Giving one the ability to sell games in your steam library , how the outcome ends up , I dont know . But this is what a purchase or buying means and very very different from playing .

So this is like a buff to camping. Great...
I can see it like that , but its also a nerf to toxic swf groups (not all swf are toxic) . But you wouldn't believe how many games ive had recently that as I get close to a hook I get one trying to body block and then hook to turn around and see 2 or even all 3 survivor just waiting to unhook and I mean in hit range of me and all I have done is turn around . So for this style of play its a nerf , but yes sadly it seems like a buff for campers as well .
Unfortunatly in the past its been said many many times , this game wasn't designed with the communication levels that swf have in mind . Because of that it doesn't matter what the devs do its going to impact one group or another . I say group because its not just survivor and killer , its swf communication , those survivors without communication , and killer . and this is why balancing this game is so difficult . They should just add voice coms to the game for all playing survivor and then balance around that , then we are back to two groups , survivor and killer .

Free has never changed it's meaning. So, you can't really make that comparison.
free
adverb
without cost or payment.
"ladies were admitted free"
(Free always means free, and there's a huge list on free. "Free as in not confined or controlled" etc.)
pay
/pā/
verb
past tense: paid; past participle: paid
give (someone) money that is due for work done, goods received, or a debt incurred.
"he paid the locals to pick his coffee beans"
give (a sum of money) in exchange for goods or work done or in discharge of a debt.
"he paid $1,000 to have it built in 1977"
Me spending $10 or $20 dollars out of my pocket, real physical actual cash on anything, is me purchasing that product. It is not free. I don't walk up to a sandwich shop asking, hey what free content you got? Unless they have free samples, they would tell me nothing and move along. Further, if I went and bought a sandwich and consumed that sandwich, I would say I paid for it, in exchange of currency. Now, do I make monthly installments on that sandwich? I would say no. If I continue to go to the sandwich shop, I suppose one could argue the I have a subscription there?
Now, If i spent money on a sandwich and walked out without a receipt and a cop stopped me and asked did you pay for that? I would NOT tell them, "No sir, I got it for 'Free'". If you pay for something, its paid for.
The assumption of gaming industry is you pay (This may vary with people). Unless it is stated that it is free, or it is stated it's subscription based. (3 options).
There are free games, there are paid games (Formerly pay to play?), there are subscription games (Aka a pay to play, or pay to keep playing would be clearer.... to each their own.). Perhaps, that alone caused confusion.
Free to play is used in contrast to the pay to play, in which obvious payment is required before using the service, this pay to play, sort of got construed, into subscription payment "model". So, games you pay for ONE time, are usually referred to as paid games, or even to some pay to play, or not even at all because it is assumed. (I.E. I paid for that game).
Free games, need to make money too, so they make certain content or things like cosmetics etc. in order to make a profit. Some employ "freemium" features, microtransactions. Service-base monetization is often the only way to keep those games alive. Usually, this won't employ a pay-to-win but some do. Pay-to-win is when a player can gain any advantage over non-paying players. Content in free games, is usually cosmetic, or adds no advantage etc. Some companies do not need to make a game have ANY paid content and it is purely just "free", I.E. no payment and have ALL the content.
There are different variations of payment games, but free will always be free.
I.E. If this game is free, than I would like my money back.
Also, there are some scammers and such that will say FREE but have hidden charges or fee's in whatever it is. I do not consider those free either. Just because they say it is, doesn't mean it is. That's why I consider it a scam. You are hiding and deceiving a person in order to make profit.
Note: This game is actually "free" on steam during some weekend special "Free" playtime. But usually no longer than a weekend. For those days it is free and playable to every one, but time limited.
Free will never change it's meaning with me.... Unless Webster tells me so o.o
I actually love your post , but while you are so intent on explaining to me what free means and always will , you kinda missing the point . there are three word in that phrase , Free To Play , its not free to buy , free to purchase or anything similar , and what does the game cost you to be able to log in and play after you Purchase the Program? yes you need to buy the program to play the game legit , but you can buy the program and never play the game if you choose , as such there is a difference between a purchase of a program and actually playing .
And to take a page from your book , pun intended : Play -
: the conduct, course, or action of a gamed
: a particular act or maneuver in a game: such as
(1) : the action during an attempt to advance the ball in football
(2) : the action in which a player is put out in baseball
: the action in which cards are played after bidding in a card game
: the moving of a piece in a board game (such as chess)
: one's turn in a game
I didn't see the purchase of a game in there , so in essence to play something assumes you have or own what it is you are playing . Thus buying a game isn't the same as playing it .

I don't have an issue with the fact that they are charging money for items. What i do have an issue with is how they go about it.
The prices are to high for what the item is.
The way they cost their items so you are always left with some small amount of auric cells left over instead of being genuine and charging round numbers that match up with the packs they sell (this is my main issue, the mobile like psychology is predatory)
The extreme grind required to buy a piece for free.
Charge less, make more things to sell and sell them in lots of 1000 instead of 1028 while selling auric packs the way they do, and i wouldn't have such an issue.
I can agree and disagree with you on this , its marketing . if you are a kid who relies on giftcards for steam because parents dont want their cc's attached , then steam would be just as guilty as you would end up with odd numbers because giftcards run in even numbers . I agree is psychology , but disagree with it being predatory and would say a marketing ploy .
What I do commend BHVR for is they are upfront with the costs , you know what you getting and for what price , unlike lootboxes which I consider to be gambling IMO . I dont always agree with the pricing , especially where cosmetics are concerned , but I dont buy them if I think its not worth it .
Rift pass I will get , why , because one I can make back the cells , two the nurse blight outfit along with the rest of the cosmetics . And in all honesty those who are concerned on if they can do enough of the rift to get the cells back could simply just not pay for it till they are at the last reward of cells then buy it getting the cells back right away , thus nothing ventured , nothing gained or lost until that point .

The irony in making a post with this title and then not knowing what free to play means is so strong.
actually that isn't the case . just because a term has been perverted by moder conventions doesn't mean that is its original or intended meaning . This hold true for a lot of terms and words throughout history . If you dont believe me look at a old kids cartoon called the flintstones , whats the last line of the song , "well have a gay old time" . Does that fit with todays meaning of a word and im sure you can easily figure out what one .
At some point free to play and free play got merged into something else , but free to play originaly meant as it says no cost to play , while free play means no cost play or everything free .

You are getting so many ebonies because nurse has no ultra rare perks to take up those spots, most killers don't get that many
actualy I had 30+ on demo , and ghostface has close to 30 as well , that was just getting them to 50 , seems once I hit around the level 30 mark I see them almost every bloodweb . I have only noticed this as of recent as ive added new killers and been leveing them up . This used to not be the case .

for future reference , at the end game screen on the right of the bp totals you have a button that you can leave positive or negative feedback including a exploits tab .

I don't know your actual age OP however I remember when I spent my allowance to purchase Starcraft and Diablo 2, back in the day. I never paid another penny for those games. And, I put 1000s of hours into them. AND AND the devs constantly patched and updated them. They were also online games. I also never paid a single extra dime for CSGO, CS1.6, WC3, Guild Wars (apart from Xpac), Guild Wars 2... I can go on. I'm 31 and have been gaming a while eh.
And don't get me going about other online games like PATH OF EXILE. FORTNITE. Just to name two others. Constantly patched, updated. So much 100% free content. Game and in-game cosmetics.
Please, try telling me again how this and that about subscriptions is how things go. I can't honestly understand from a consumer's point of view how you could possibly support this kind of monetization. I mean Christ, they might as well just put a "DONATE HERE" link on the god damn home screen and you can go right ahead and empty your bank account right into theirs. Better yet ask support for BHVRs direct deposit info and you just drop your pay cheques in there.
Because thats what every gamer wants.
im old enough to have played pong when it originaly come out on the market and was sold by sears , so I have been gamming for longer then a lot of people here have been alive , lol . and yes I remember the first real mmo's matter fact the first non mud mmo was not even eq like most people think it was Ultima online made by origins . and even back then it was a $10 subscription , and I can fondly say they had a dev community like no other game since , until ea come along , we all know how that goes ...
So yes I have been around a while and yes I have seen online mission games that were totally free after purchase like StarCraft , but there is a difference between a mission style game and something like this or a MMo , and yes for all basic purpose this is a MMo in the sence that the balance and rework and maintence is similar , especialy when they go to dedicated servers . There is a difference between a game server that on average used little to no bandwith and can be run on almost any rig vs something like this that uses a lot of bandwith and has soo many more moving parts in it . Right now its p2p to play , when it goes dedicated it will be better for us , but the cost alone for the server farms on BHVR will be serious .
I want to use another game recently that had potential but the ball was dropped on imo . Grapeshot's atlas , it was supposed to host 40000 players they said it required I think almost 300 servers , what do you think this game would require and the cost of those servers ?

Honestly I just think the base game should be free since they have 3 different ways to guarantee cash flow within the game now. They have Licensed Chapters, The Cosmetic Store, and The Rift.
And the main reason i want the base game to go free is because it is incredibly hard to convince a friend to buy a game where they don't get all the content immediately when that game has this many micro transactions. DBD could easily stay alive without the measily 20 dollars for the basic ######### 4 killers and 5 survs now and more people would come in if they didn't have to buy their way into a game where they have to buy most of the content or grind for years to get a few og chapters.
Hell, I'd actually be willing to buy cosmetics if I hadn't spent so much on just being able to play the full game. And yes, I think not owning one of the dlcs means I don't own the full game because I don't have access to those perks unless I'm lucky and I can't play as that killer unless I shell out the cash which means I'm missing out on an entire aspect of the game.
the only reason I go back anf forth on thinking about the base game being free is because they actually have sales soo frequently , and they usually have some bundle with the base game . even the last sale if you bought every single dlc with a killer or survivor (13 total) and the base game it would have been slightly less then $60 , which is what most people pay for a single triple a title these days . If they didn't constantly have sales I would probably agree with you on the base cost or at least cut it in half . What a lot of people dont realize is they expand the dlc list and see 21 dlc's and think its going to cost a fortune , but 3 are free and 4 are just cosmetics , with one being just a soundtrack , so of 21 dlc's there is only really 13 with content that effects the game in any way .

I've never ever seen a Killer fret about losing BPs when they offer an Ebony Mori.
Killers that Mori after the 1st hook certainly don't care about BPs.
Ebony Moris truly need to be reworked so that they require two hooks per survivor and potentially a number of hooks to prevent tunneling. Requiring 5 hooked survivors seems completely fair as it requires at least 3 different Survivors to be hooked.
And if there were 1 or more DCs, boo-hoo... the game is moot anyway.
I use ebony so im not limited to last or first person when I have a kill by your own hand , and like I say , I play for bp's more then anything . Though I will say that ebony seems to be on the bloodwebs way to often , my nurse is only like level 43 and she has 20+ ebonies and that seems to be about average that ill see 1 in a average of 1.5-2 bloodwebs . I have actually seen 3 in a single web back to back before .
Edit : also in my method the person would be dead hooked or mori , if they have been hooked twice already . This would leave the game to be played at its fullest reguradless if they died to a hook or mori .

If you are claiming to be "ancient", them as another "ancient" gamer, I will offer.you this nugget of wisdom:
"Free to play" means that it will cost FAR more than a stand alone title to play, there will be sleazy gimmicks (ie gambling boxes) and in exchange you can expect the game to be supported* for years tocome.
*in this instance "supported" means the developers will try to squeeze every vent out of players, even If it means taking advantage of gambling and collective personalities. It into way implies there will be added bug support (that does not support the monetization scheme) or game "ccongent " unrelated to said addictive and collective personalities.
TL;dr: free to play games are entirely what's wrong with the video game industry. I would infinitely prefer an all inclusive subscription or 1 time.purchase and have "sequels".
but there also is the issue between free to play and subscription . Online play and support . Right now one of the most anticipated features seems to be dedicated servers , those will up the cost to keep this game running and online , those costs have to be covered someplace . Stand alone games that maybe offer minimal support or no support online do exist but they are far and few between because their lifespans are not usually that long . With what BHVR has been doing with the pass and cosmetics I see as fine because in 3 years if you played a stand along and paid average market value of $60 with one new release each year we would be into the $180 range alone . so considering that all the content or non cosmetic dlc's and the base game can be bought for 2/3rds that without a sale and 1/3rd that when on sale I think they are doing ok .
Now dont get me wrong I do understand that all companies are in it to make money , but so far costs are there for you to see and decide on if you want it or not and there is no real "Need" to buy cosmetics and passes . But I do agree that loot boxes are the bane of the f2p system and I try to not support that at all , like you stated its just a different form of online gambling .
-
honestly if they changed the ebony mori to after 2 hooks I wouldn't mind at all , leave the others since they are 1 shot and done . Yes I am a killer main , and I still wouldn't mind it , why because you get more bp's for 2 hooks and killing then killing after one hook .
One of the worst things for a killer is getting only one hook out of a survivor , at least bp wise . I can go in with a ebony and kill all 4 survivors on a short game and depip (have done it before) now I try to only use it after a second hook unless its a tbagging troll then I might after the first just so I dont have to deal with them ...

Free2play mechanics belong into free2play games and not in games that the users pay money for. DbD has a normal price tag, lots of DLC and it also has already a lucrative income from the store.
If we agree to f2p mechanics in this game i am worried about where it can lead. I mentioned several possibilities already. I dont like the fact that they now work with netease,
Why are f2p mechanics uhm meh? Well look at 95% of the f2p games out there, there is also dota&warframe but that is a special case imo. Ingame currencies which you can obtain via real money have no other reason to exist but to make the customer forget that it is actually about money, when I see the reactions of most people "but you get your money back" which you simply do not than i would say goal achieved in this.
So why do you have to do something like that to the people that love the game, play it and support the people who made it? I think bhvr didn't have to do that and it leaves a sour taste in my mouth, having purchased all dlc (gifted them to friends who miss some or simply wish for one), skins for chars (even when they just look great i bought them while not even playin the char they were made for).
F2p belongs into f2p games and not into dbd and I simply do not understand why they had to go that route, it made me doubt them and I dont like it one bit. Dont tell me a company has to earn money, i am aware of that.
Maybe its age or whatever , but , the term free to play is being used here in the wrong context . There are 2 class of online games , Subscription based and free to play . These are the terms referring to what price you pay per month and why the f2p mechanics are in non subscription based games . The cost of the game doesn't matter on if it is a f2p game or not that is a purchase cost for core content , in this case its for the base game and what 3 chapters .
Some of you haven't been around long enough to know what some terms really mean , and f2p its referring to the cost of the game though I imagine some developers use it like that just like some people think that is what it mean . the cost of a game and the cost of playing it online are two separate costs . So considering that you are playing a f2p game because it doesn't have a subscription cost to it . When games like SWToR , Elder Scrolls Online went from subscription to what … f2p , people still had to buy the program .
What a lot of you and not just the poster im replying to has missed is every game that has a development team that updates on a regular basis , committing 100's or even 1000's of labor hours a day , they have to pay for those hours . They do this in one of two ways , subscription based , or f2p with tons of micro transactions .
Now ask yourself this , would you rather see a battle pass system and cosmetics in this game , or rather have a flat monthly to pay every single month of 10-15$ . I keep hearing this game over 3 years has cost a whole lot with the dlc's and the base price I spent almost $100 to $150 dollars , if this was subscription based you would spend that on monthly fees to just play the game in about 10 months not 36+ months the game has been out .

Nurse Question :
Its clear from the add-ons that with the blink change that the devs know that her base speed is extremely slow that is why I assume they changed the add-ons to give her 4.2 and 4.6 speed like most the other killers .
Question is : is there any plans to just change her base speed rather then to make her a killer who requires certain add-ons ?
