Nevermind Undetectable, you guys at least have something. What about those of us who play set up killers that are totally crippled by Object with no way to counter it besides tunnelling them out of the game (I.e. throwing the match)?

No, see, it's pallets TIMES windows + map size divided by number of floors, all divided by the angle between the exit gates squared
Hm! Well I can’t argue with Randy’s maths. 🤔

So we should nerf already bad killers just because you can't learn how to play against said bad killer?
This is a terrible response, for several reasons. Firstly, when did I say anything about nerfs in my comment? Secondly, I’m not looking at this from a personal “I don’t like X killer” perspective, I’m interested in making the game more enjoyable for everyone. Believe it or not but there are many of us who play both sides and are capable of understanding that the game experience needs to be good for both killers and survivors if the game is going to thrive.
-
Yeah it’s really stupid. There’s a lot of basic functionality that DBD lacks for some reason.

Gen placement on midwitch combined with the placement of the stairs up and down, along with the long hallways to encourage W play makes it a very unfriendly killer map. As a killer, you often have to run to one side of the map then run to the next side of the map to get to a gen or to catch up to a survivor. There's also a double pallet spawn in the library next to a window. It's a very strong survivor focused map.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1558811#Comment_1558811
The algorithm that determines map strength is heavily weighted towards pallet play and accessibility to windows to those pallets. You actually have no idea what you're talking about and if you're dying on The Game is a survivor, you need to learn to play. Considering you don't understand the strength of pallet tiles, I suggest you start learning.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_C_I-QvPTRs
It takes about 20-25 seconds to catch up to a survivor in a vacuum after being stunned by a pallet and kicking it. It takes 80 seconds to do a generator. Not utilizing any loops at all, you can use 4 pallets per generator done, this is also assuming only 1 of your 3 other team mates is doing a gen. Maps with more pallets means that you can throw more to waste more of the killer's time. When a pallet is unsafe, you don't loop it, you enter the tile from a favorable position, which may mean the killer gains on you, then you throw the pallet down in their face and run to the next tile. On smaller maps with tons of pallets, like The Game, you can do this for 5 gens.
Like I said, balancing this game around bad players is the major issue this game has, and people like you help exacerbate these problems.
Petty insults aside (I play more killer than survivor, FYI), you didn’t answer my question. If pallets are the sole determining factor for map balance, why is Haddonfield widely considered a survivor favoured map?

A killers sole way to play is hunt, chase, and hook/kill survivors.
Survivors have a variety of ways to contribute to the game to boost chances of escape from the trial. Chases should always be in favour of the killer. The killers are MEANT to be a threat. They’re a threat because your odds as survivor escaping the killer are MEANT to be low.
Survivors willingly choosing to bait the killer into the single part of the game they’re MEANT to have the least success in: the chase, because they find that the only thing fun, that’s on them. They can’t use that as a basis for an argument to even the odds in chase against a killer.
If they want even odds 1v1, go play street fighter.
If the chase is the only thing they find fun, they’re playing the wrong role. Play killer.
This game became popular BECAUSE chases are fun. If the survivor role gets boiled down to “hold M1 on gens and hold W until downed” then the game will die. Survivors need to want to play the survivor role for the game to actually function, 4 times as many of them are required.
-
When playing survivor I want to feel like my skill actually has an impact on a chase.
When playing killer I want to feel like my skill actually has an impact on a chase.
That’s basically it. I don’t want easy downs. I want to actually feel accomplished when I win a game, on either side. That’s why I don’t smurf to bully rank 20s, because beating an opponent who had no chance to actually win is completely hollow.
-

Sorry no.
If you have NO fun doing any other part of the game as survivor, and that is your sole argument for why you should have a fairer chance during a chase, then you’re playing the wrong game.
That killer your up against is a player too. If no matter which killer is chosen the game were designed around survivors having it too easy during a chase, killers will just give up in droves, and you will have NO game to play at all.

Both sides are players. Both sides should be considered and balanced around. Against killers like DS and PH you might as well have survivor bots for all the input they have during a chase (just hold W lul). In fact, replace survivors with bots and most of the killer mains on this forum would probably be happier tbh.

Yeah I dont see them most knowledgeable survivors know he has no counterplay. The ones saying he does are killer mains who arent good at survivor and use that as their excuse to not 1v1 or say "it'd a 4v1 game not 1v1" despite the 1v being the interaction between you and the killer.
Lol, that was my point. There’s absolutely no excuse to not put their money where their mouth is anymore, and yet they won’t because anyone who says DS is easily countered hasn’t played against someone who can aim.
-
And with crossplay now active, there’s literally no reason all these survivors who are outplaying DS in chase every game can’t take you up on it. :)

Even the streamer said "Wow, nice dodge". Like you can't really make this stuff up.
You turned after he fired, your wiggle made no difference to him missing.
-
In the first gif he just straight up misses you. That’s not counterplay, that’s a killer making a mistake.

I love the new chest animation, breaking open the lock rather than rummaging thorough nothing. And the new gens look much higher quality.

Like i mentiined, now you understand the frustration with thanta.
I don’t have any frustration with Thana cause I don’t run it since it’s bad, lol.
-
The most frustrating part of it is that having the right perks is more important for new players. Someone with enough hours to have all the perks unlocked could run a meme build and do fine and have fun, but when you’re a rank 20 with no idea of how anything works, the right perks can make the game much more enjoyable for you. I’m happy to play without an exhaustion perk or without Corrupt on my Trapper because I’ve been playing for 2 years, but when I was brand new, Sprint Burst and BBQ kept matches less frustrating for me.
They really need to do something if they want to attract and keep new players. Imagine buying the game because you want to play Pyramid Head and then seeing how many hours you need to sink into the game to unlock actually decent perks on him. Ugh.

Well, now you understand killers frustration with thanta 😂
It synergizes stupid well with other perks. Imagine running it with botany, wglf and your the obsession when killers running dying light. You look at someone and theyre healed.
Yeah but then you’re running three perks dedicated to a healing build, and you have to be the Obsession against Dying Light, have recently unhooked someone, and everyone has to be injured. I’m not saying it won’t ever happen, but I don’t think it will be a common enough occurrence to worry about.
-
You have to open the options menu from the main screen, before you pick a role, if you choose to play survivor or killer and then try to turn it off the option will be greyed out.
-

That healing perk thats the reverse of thanta is pretty powerful. Im actually worried its broken
With all four survivors injured/hooked/downed it drops a 16 second heal down to 10 seconds, it really isn’t that big of an effect. A survivor who wants more efficient heals is pretty much always better off bringing Botany instead.

Pallets are used by survivors to delay the game by wasting the killer's time, giving other survivors enough time to do gens. The core gameplay of DBD essentially revolves around pallets and pallet loops. The indoor maps primarily have unsafe pallets, but they have many more to make up for this. The Game map especially has a lot of pallets and a few pallets that are extremely strong. The Game map is a heavy survivor sided map, it is not a killer sided map. It is a survivor sided map because of the amount of pallets in it and the amount of god pallets in it.
Hawkins also has tons of pallets and crazy good windows / vaults, midwitch is also an extremely survivor biased map. I just don't understand where you're coming from when you say indoor maps are bad for survivors. These maps employ pallets and windows that survivors have to think about to utilize fully, they can't just brainlessly navigate across the map and into safe loops then throw down the pallet and go to the next safe tile, like most maps. These maps actually require more input than brainless holding W.
Boiling map balance down to just “are pallets good?” is far too simplistic. If pallets were the only important factor in map balance, Haddonfield would be fine and balanced. But weirdly, most killer players can agree that Haddonfield is an extremely survivor sided map, probably one of the worst, despite not being filled with safe pallets. Why do you think that might be?
The Game is not a survivor sided map. If you often lose as killer on The Game then I’m sorry but you need to git gud because it’s favourable to most killers.

Latency. There’s a delay between you, the server and the killer and the killer gets priority on hits. So if they swing and you Dead Hard at the same time, their hit takes priority and will down you.

The Game is a survivor focused map with 2 god pallets and 2 nearly god pallets. Also has about 18 pallets total. It has a lack of windows, but it has the strongest window in this entire game that is also right next to a safe pallet.
Basing issues off of the behavior of bad players is why this game is so unbalanced in the first place.
I don’t know why you keep mentioning pallets. Like I said, the issues people have with indoor maps are completely unrelated to pallets.

It is the same problem like using ultra low settings against normal or high graphic.
I recently rewatched old YouTube videos of monto, puppets and 2 others I am not sure of. 3 times normal dark graphics and the 4 view ultra bright and lowest graphics without much gras or anything.
Reminds me of the old pubg problem with hiding in gras and other people reducing the rendering distance for objects.
But yes if you have to fiddle with the config files outside of the in-game options it is borderline cheating, even if it is the devs fault to make those files accessible in the first place.
Lastly I personally don't like cheating but even so I would not use stretched res because I would get sick of the fish lense view I've seen on comparison pictures. And since I only play killer it wouldn't even help to begin with.
Stretched res benefits killers as well.
-
Killers can’t be stunned while they’re locked in an animation. That’s why you have to time flashlight blinds precisely, and it’s the same with pallets - if you drop it a fraction too early you won’t get the save.
-

the thing about indoor maps most survivors don't understand is that a lot of the pallets are unsafe pallets, but there's usually a lot more of them. This means that you need to not loop the pallet and instead use it to just stun the killer and run to the next pallet. Survivors are just used to having 80% of the pallets in a map being ultra safe pallets that the killer has to kick.
That’s not really the problem with indoor maps, look at The Game - tons of safe pallets, but a high kill rate. The problem is that you have way worse visibility of the killer, less visibility of your teammates, gens are harder to find and it’s usually harder to hide or lose chase on indoor maps (Lery’s being the exception). Blood is more visible and scratch marks are easy to track, and footsteps are really easy to follow. Plus there typically aren’t many windows so once the pallets are gone, you’re at a massive disadvantage.
-
Considering how ######### indoor maps are for survivors most of the time, I don’t really mind if gates are less easily patrollable.
-
No, not really. I tried it for both killer and survivor and it gives some minor advantages but I don’t think it’s that big of a deal, personally. If you’re a good player you’ll play well on standard res, if you’re a bad player stretched res won’t help you much. It looks super ugly as well.
I imagine the devs will probably change the way it works before long because some people have been kicking up a fuss about it. I don’t use it and don’t feel like it does much so whatever, remove it so people stop bickering about it.

Console players seem way more eager to do the crouchy-crouchy-clicky-clicky after they perform any action at all, which is kind of weird. Other than that, they're really bad at 360s and don't look behind themselves very often.
I do notice they tend to run DS/unbreakable more often, but not so often that it's rampant or anything.
I haven’t really noticed that myself! I got teabagged by one team for no real reason, but other than that I don’t think anyone has clicked or bagged at all. Those things don’t really bother me to be fair, I’ve grown numb to teabags, pointing and clicking after two years of DBD, but I feel like it’s less common these days than it used to be.

PS4: I use to get hateful messages until i quit playing the killer ha ha,even blocked messages. But i do agree that most console players tend to be more chilled. Can't wait to try out some cross play just little worried since PC users usually have advantage in most games with better software and mouse and keyboard. Just hopefully they add an option to be selective on what platform you play against.
The nice thing about crossplay is that you can try it out, and if it’s not your cup of tea you can just disable it. Can’t guarantee it 100% but I’ve heard that disabling it doesn’t have a huge impact on queue times, and when I tried turning it off myself it didn’t seem to make too much difference. So it seems like there’s a healthy pool of people who have it off as well as on, which is good for everyone. :)

I really enjoyed the latest PTB and thought they did a great job on the new content. There’s room for improvement on some things but that’s what the PTB is for, they’ve improved PTB content in the past so I’m sure they’ll do it here as well.

He said, verbatim, " so we can get rescues ".
Rescues are an intended part of the game. If survivors were not supposed to be rescued they’d automatically die on first hook.
Hook cycling is how the game is supposed to go. That’s why you can’t block the unhook prompt or trap too close to the hook and it’s why stuff like BT, Devour Hope and Make Your Choice exist. It’s why survivors are marked down by the emblem system if they leave a teammate to die on hook and why the killer is rewarded for hooking multiple times. The entire game is balanced around it.
-
Desperate Measures is inferior to Botany and nobody will run it, so I really wouldn’t worry about it.
This kind of perk design also isn’t a recent trend. Perks like Fire Up or Bitter Murmur are kind of the same - you’re “punished” (people love this word for some reason) for doing your objective. But their effects are not that great so nobody runs them. Same here.

then he goes on this rant about the game is unbalanced against killers.
so for red rank killers it’s 4k or bust?
I don’t think this is a red rank killer thing really, I’ve had plenty of red rank killers say gg even if all four escape and I usually do the same when I’m killer. But people who want to sweat for 4Ks every single game will usually end up at red rank so you’re more likely to see them there.

I'm disappointed in this perk because it is a buff to noed. How many times have we cleansed noed at the last second because we happened to find it after it had triggered? With this new perk, that won't happen if any bones are left.
Yes, I know, we can all do bones, but in solo without a totem counter, that is a big ask. There have been so many complaints about noed (like daily new threads on here), that I'm surprised they would buff it without first adjusting noed itself.
But I guess I really shouldn't be surprised at what BHVR does any more.
It’s because the person who balances this stuff runs NOED, lol. So don’t hold your breath for any kind of change to NOED or a totem counter.

It's a good anti Legion perk at least.
Eh, kind of but not really. Legion can so easily and reliably get people injured that you’re still better off just playing injured most of the time. A 10 second heal is better than a 16 second heal but both of those are still worse options than just doing a gen.
-
Yaaay, I can play Plague again. :D
-
All of the perks look like they’ll at least be usable in most matches. There are no “when two survivors are on the hook and the killer is 32.4 metres away, see the auras of all cleansed dull totems for four seconds” type perks.
See gen auras, heal faster under pressure, get item charges back. All around useful, though whether their effects are strong enough to justify a perk slot is more questionable.
Expose a survivor who touches a kicked gen, freeze nearby pallets after a hit, transfer your cleansed hex to a new totem. Again, all perks that will be easy to proc, the question is just whether they’re worth replacing perks in your existing build.
-
Maybe the new killer and survivor will come with meta-changing perks.
Hahahah.
-
No. Run Save the Best for Last if this is happening to you often, or just deal with it.
Can people stop asking for every single thing in this game to be nerfed or removed please? If the devs removed all the weird niche stuff people complain about here on a daily basis this would be the most dry and boring game in existence.
