PH got no counter play and other jokes you can tell yourself

hint: he miss M2 = make distance

To miss his M2 he has to actually try to land M2s outside of the survivor being in an animation lock. The vast majority of PHs will only use their M2 if the survivor uses a pallet or a window.

  • It’s just pointless tribalism, I would ignore them. It’s no different from the survivor vs killer thing, or rival football teams, or whatever. Anyone with common sense realises that the platform you play on says nothing about you.

  • I don’t mind stealth when it’s used effectively (I.e. sparingly). I hate stealth players when they refuse to take any aggro or hook states, forcing other survivors to take chases and hooks while they haven’t even been hooked once. It’s selfish and annoying.

Stealth play is also extremely boring from a killer point of view. There’s nothing more boring than wandering around the map looking for a glimpse of a survivor crouching in a bush. If you want to play like that don’t be surprised if you get camped and/or tunnelled because once you are found, you’re not getting away.

  • I try not to take the game too seriously. But the conflict, the drama, the randomness of the matches, the bizarre things teammates and/or opponents do, the endless debates and arguments about balance and the design of the game, it’s all fun and addictive and as long as you don’t take any of it personally, it’s really enjoyable.

  • I’ve had this problem as well. In fact I had a recent match on Midwich where I spawned at the end of one of the corridors and the killer spawned halfway down it, so I basically started the match in a chase.

Usually the killer spawns pretty far away from survivors but it seems like recently they spawn really close. I’ve had it as survivor, and as killer as well where I move for a few seconds and see scratch marks, where before I would have to cross a decent portion of the map before I saw signs of anyone.

    Wrong.

I uncapped my FPS and now when I press right click on Legion, he runs faster

Just run Shadowborn and you won’t need to right click tbh.

  • I really don’t understand what people spend their time doing, gens are basically the only time consuming thing TO do when someone is getting chased. The worst is when you go down and you see the auras of your teammates just walking around aimlessly or crouching somewhere. Like, ######### are you doing?! Even if they were cleansing a totem or healing I’d understand, but literally doing nothing?

  • “Just play injured.”

To clarify: this is often very good advice. There are times when it’s okay to play injured, and people should become more comfortable with the idea of being injured instead of panicking. There are perks that can help and speed is often of the essence, sometimes healing can wait. That said, if everyone on the team is injured and the killer is patrolling the hook, slugging or otherwise pressuring, for the love of god stop trading and HEAL.

I’ve had so many matches as survivor thrown because people were too impatient to spend 16 seconds healing one guy and letting them go for the rescue. I’ve had killer matches where the survivors stubbornly refused to heal and I snowballed from there. Sometimes you have to heal to slow a killer’s momentum. Especially if they have Infectious.

I know about these counters dude, looking to the side def helps a bit when approaching. But stalking requires you looking directly at the survivor, in which case they'll always be alerted. It also has a higher range than whispers, which is basically a staple for many stealth killers. It's even higher than normal killer TR's lol.

I mean yea you can also flick your camera when stalking, but all that to counter a perk you can just slap on and get value out of? Not worth imo

Whispers benefits from a smaller radius so I don’t really understand the comparison? There’s a reason nobody bothers running Whispers tier 1 despite it having a larger range.

Almost every single perk in this game is “slap it on and get value”, so if that’s the criteria for a perk needing a nerf we can say bye to at least 80% of perks in the game lol.

Spine Chill exists to soft counter stealth killers. That and the vault speed build are the only reasons to run it. Nerfing it to be less useful against stealth killers will kill the perk entirely, which I guess is the point - some people who play stealth killers don’t like Spine Chill and don’t want to have to play around it. I don’t think that’s a good reason to ask for something to be nerfed.

I see at least one spine chill per game at red ranks, so maybe it's a regional/time thing.

Like I said, it won't become useless at all because the range on it will still be good enough to evade killers. On the other hand, it's such an easy to use perk that requires significant counterplay from the killer's side, and not just myers-pretty much all stealth killers.

I play red ranks on PC EU and see it once in a while, definitely nowhere near every game.

The only counterplay you need is this: don’t just hold W and beeline straight to a gen. Walk backwards or sideways, or even flick your camera around. Spine Chill users typically won’t jump off a gen if they see Spine Chill turning on and off, they’ll assume the killer is in a chase nearby.

  • I rarely see Spine Chill, whether I’m playing survivor or killer. Nerfing it would drop it from “fun and useful niche perk” to “never used” so I’m against it. We need more useful perks, not less.

Admittedly it is pretty awful if you’re playing Myers and more than one person has SC, since you’ll struggle to get out of tier 1. I’d rather they buff Myers than nerf SC though.

Trapper may have a slow setup, but it can be borderline impossible for Survivors if you secure a strong 3-gen early. Every problem you listed can either be completely fixed or mostly negated with perks, besides RNG and SWF.

Legion is able to injure people easily, but his add-ons do not help him get downs at all. Legion's fundamental problems cannot be fixed or negated with perks. You can buy yourself time, but at the end of the day, Trapper's power does something. It can force Survivors (especially with Bear Trap Darkeners) to not take certain loops and it can greatly shorten chase times. If you need more time to set-up, bring PGTW and Corrupt Intervention. 3 minutes (at least) of minimal gen progress.

I would recommend trying to play Trapper against decent (not great, decent) high rank survivors and see how easy it is to set up, maintain your set up, chase, get downs, defend gens and control a 3 gen. All while having to collect your power from around the map. Against survivors that don’t brainlessly run through grass, don’t do all gens on one side of the map, use the post-hit speed burst well and know when to split up and when to focus, it’s extremely difficult to build pressure and snowball as a killer that takes so much time to collect and then use his power, and whose power is so easily countered by having eyes or playing with a friend who has eyes.

You don’t need to tell me to run Corrupt because like I said, I’m a Trapper main. I play Trapper consistently at rank one and he’s one of the weakest killers in the game. My opinion was formed from playing him a lot, trying various different perk and add on builds. He’s just got too many fatal weaknesses. Trapper can 4K against bad survivors all day long but that’s only because they make mistakes that would also lose them the match against any other killer.

I disagree. I think Demo is pretty bad, he is a jack of all trades, but he doesn't really excel at anything. Plus, he kills FPS on console when he uses Shred, for some reason.

Base Legion and base Trapper are fairly comparable power level wise. I feel that as soon as you give Trapper a bag though, he becomes much better. The ability to carry more traps and set more traps faster is absolutely key.

The best Legion can do is to...hit more people, but not down them. Trapper cuts off areas on loops and the maps, he applies pressure through chasing people in his territory and he does it very well.

Legion relies on the Survivors to create an artificial pressure by feeling like they have to heal against him. If they simply do not heal, he will not win. Trapper doesn't rely on that.

Trapper is both slow (setup) and easily countered by basic survivor tactics. He’s completely neutered by survivors with eyes who don’t run through grass, or by survivors communicating and disabling his traps. He’s hampered by RNG, big maps and bad trap spawns. His traps are extremely visible, countered by perks and items and he requires a bag add on to not completely suck.

Legion may only be able to injure people but at least they can do that. Trapper struggles to even get hits if the survivors know what they’re doing.

Demo and Trapper just need setup, they're not worse than Legion.

Demo isn’t bad, but Trapper is much worse than Legion. I say this as someone who loves and mains Trapper, and sucks with Legion.

alternatively youve got the click to dh trick, where you click to instantly turn around and then dead hard the other way, which often causes the killer to miss. usually only works once tho

This and the moonwalk into Dead Hard are some of my favourite survivor tricks, they’re so funny to watch and hilarious when they work.

  • @LordGlint said:

In all fairness, this is obvious information to YOU because you have kindred. Due to the LOS blockers on this map, it isnt so obvious that the killer is camping.

This is a fair point but there are often context clues to tell when a killer is camping. If you go near the hook and hear the killer’s heartbeat consistently for like 15 seconds, or see someone get saved from the basement and then both rescuer and rescued instantly go down, it’s not hard to work out what’s going on. Most people ignore this stuff and just immediately rush for the save anyway.

  • Gen speed is fine. 80 seconds is a long time to sit on a gen uninterrupted. If you notice that survivors are often stacking on gens, try running Discordance.

  • Good points! From a PC survivor and killer I can agree with most of them, I feel like there will be a small adjustment period for everyone and the lack of any communication between platforms is a bit disappointing (though understandable), but most of my crossplay matches have been great. :D I love the fact that the whole community is finally able to play together.

  • @Spookybat8930 said:

So I’m all for cross play but surely there needs to be tweaks to balance the game, I’m not fussed about the mouse over controller and all platforms have bad survivors but the low graphic setting brightening and making the game easier seems like an unfair advantage. Comparing to average settings it’s quite a big difference to seeing people in the distance, following scratch marks etc. Just a thought, also make the endgame chat for all platforms, would be nice to chat and say gg to other platforms

Why would you want to remove options from PC instead of asking for more options for console? If you think low settings give an advantage, lobby the devs to add a low settings option for console players.

As it is now the game is so poorly optimised and difficult to run that plenty of people need to play on low to get decent frames and performance. Removing that option would only make the game worse for those people.

  • I see way more now than I did before he was nerfed, actually.

I use quick and quiet but I end up using it mid chase and it dosnt recharge before I reach a locker.

But using quick and quiet to hide and then get away, what's the point of having head on if you ain't going to stun?

You don’t use it to hide, but making the killer briefly question where you went gives you enough time to charge it. As soon as you see that they’re about to check the locker, you stun them and run.

  • Yes you can, you just need to do it from the main menu before you select whether to play killer or survivor.

  • The best way to do it is to run it with Quick & Quiet, break line of sight and silently fast vault into the locker. The killer will usually take a couple of seconds to catch up and look around quickly, they won’t usually search lockers immediately since the animation takes a couple of seconds and you feel kinda dumb when you check an empty locker.

The Icon next to their name, but that could mean any platform I believe bit the real give aways are the names and way they move, as I stated PC players tend to take very sharp turns but if they have a space in their user name they are on PC, unless switch can do that but I don't believe so, plus I doubt that I am playing against more switch players than every other platform.

Xbox players have spaces in their names. I’m not sure about Switch.

It won't affect solo mode, I said in a previous comment that it only happens when it's a group of 4 SWFs.

Lack of aura information can be deadly when the killer makes slugging survivors. Just imagine it.

As a solo survivor, auras are the most important way of getting information about what’s happening. There’s a reason solo players will run Kindred, Bond or Empathy while SWF don’t bother. Because a SWF can just tell each other “I’m down next to the killer shack, the killer is patrolling my body” or whatever and they have no need for auras at all. Four pairs of eyes and ears sharing information is all they need. Removing auras would do nothing to SWF at all.

EDIT: Oh wait, you’re saying remove auras only for 4 man SWF? I still don’t see how that would nerf them when they can just tell each other where they are.

  • That would nerf solos and make little difference to SWF.

I always wondered how a meg can be injured then downed in a 5 seconds span against an M1 killer.

Holy crap, yes. I had two separate players go down in under 10 seconds against a Wraith on Blood Lodge the other day and I was honestly sitting there like “???????” Like how do you go down that fast to that map/killer combination?

  • It’s really been a mixed bag for me. I’ve played both survivor and killer on PC and seen some really good console survivors - I had an Xbox team that whooped me yesterday and I only got 1 kill. I’ve had a console killer that was better than most PC killers I’ve seen. But then I’ve also had console players that threw the match, and PC players that were totally incompetent. I really don’t think it’s possible to judge any one platform.

I had a mixed lobby yesterday when I was playing Trapper and they all died, and then the PC guys started blaming the console player for being a “console bot” and the reason they lost despite the glorious PC master race players being the ones to throw the match. People are making a lot of unfounded assumptions about other platforms, it’s stupid.

  • It’s probably easier to make killers on console whiff since it’s harder to track survivors that are near you.

  • One thing I will say is that console survivors seem to be SUPER altruistic. Like, they’ll throw the game to take a hit for someone. Pretty much every time I’m chasing someone I hear running footsteps behind me and it’s one of their buddies coming to run interference, haha.

It’s engrained in me to capitalise on this by doling out hits and slugging but I’ve been slowing down and letting people get their altruism points and it’s been really fun. The matches are slower paced and everyone gets a ton of points. I let the last guy get hatch and usually still double pip anyway because the gens were so slow and I had so many short chases. It’s pretty great.

As someone who plays both sides but more so survivor, I will let you in on Survivor and Killer Raging.

This games developers cannot find a balanced way to make both sides equal. They buff survivors but in turn nerf killers. They buff killers but in turn nerf survivors. It's frustrating. Survivors tend to let out their frustration in game while killers come to cry in the forums.

Both sides complain just as equally, it's just a matter of where they do it.

Yeah, this is my perception too. Killers don’t usually complain in end game chat because it’s 4 vs 1, so they complain on the forums or reddit or in certain streams about their grievances, because they know they’ll find people to agree with them. Survivors can gang up on killers about their frustrations in end game chat so they do it there and then don’t bother with venting online as much.

  • @Fnatic47 said:

Is not dramatic at all, they played dbd since the game release on consoles and now since devs said about cross play and the bad experience they had on PC, well even me could think to delete the game...

So delete it if you hate the idea of crossplay existing that much, and leave the rest of us to have fun in peace.

  • I had a game yesterday where I looped a Legion for several minutes and none of my console teammates did a single gen because they were too busy Self Caring and doing totems or whatever. Should I take this as some sign that all console players suck? No.

There are boosted morons and god loopers on every platform. Hell, people on mobile have learned to play Nurse and get flashlight saves. I’ve played on both PS4 and PC and I really haven’t noticed a massive difference in the average player on either platform. People who make out like PC players are some godly gamers are just indulging in tribalism, most PC players suck as hard as anyone on console.

Oh. He and his chat were talking ######### about console the entire time

I wouldn’t take the attitude of a guy with a big ego and his fanboys as a representation of all PC gamers. They’re a minority within a minority within a minority.

  • Killer on console is far more frustrating than killer on PC. There’s a reason survivor queues on console have always been absolutely awful.

  • @Roobnus said:

Just do bones, it takes literally 0 skill.

I mean, it takes no skill but how simple it is really depends on the map. There’s no excuse for not doing totems on an Autohaven map but good luck finding all five on Lerys unless you bring a totem hunting perk. And between all the other perks I need to run to counter things (just run Iron Will, just run DS, just run Kindred, and on and on...) that’s not really a viable option most of the time.

  • I can count on one hand the number of cheaters I’ve faced, either as survivor or killer, so there isn’t much to deal with, really. I think the cheaters are probably just emboldened by crossplay.

  • My first console killer was a really good Ghostface that stomped us, he whiffed a couple of times but it didn’t really matter because his game sense was impressive and he kept catching everyone off guard by switching up his tactics. He got 4 kills and it was a really fun match.

Then I played against a really bad M1lly that I was sure was a PS4 player, but he was a red rank PC killer lul.

If you get called a hacker thats one of the biggest compliments you can get. People think you're so good they can't even fathom the idea of you being legit.

How anyone let's post game chat get to them personally is beyond me.

OP said they have an anxiety disorder so maybe try being a bit kinder. People with anxiety issues know that their anxiety isn’t rational, that’s why it’s called a disorder.

  • I agree, increase the cooldown on a fake slightly and then decrease the cooldown when he misses his ranged attack slightly. Make going for fancier ranged attacks more appealing and fun. As it is now the only time PHs use their ranged attack is when you’re animation locked because the penalty for missing is too punishing.

  • It’s actually been really good for the most part! I feel like I’ll jinx myself by saying this lmao, but I’m having more fun playing than I have in a while.

  • I’ve played a few games as PC survivor and not really noticed anything different, to be honest. Teammates and killers seem about the same even if they’re cross-platform. I’ll be interested to try playing killer.

  • At least crossplay opponents won’t be able to send you hate post-match :)

Teams like this are near impossible to win with low-mid tier killers unless they do some horrible misplays. They'll just insta throw pallets and sit on gens, then leave. Chasing power is pretty much needed to outplay these safe pallet throws.

Yeah Tru3 could have played better but that doesn't change the fact that their gameplay revolved completely around safe pallet throws and extremely fast gens so they don't have face consequences of wasting pallets. Very interactive gameplay indeed.

I would be fine with such playstyles if people didn't complain about killers like nurse, spirit, deathslinher, PH etc "don't have counterplay" and need severe nerfs to be fair towards bad players who are unable to play on high level like these can.

The problem is that they’re in two different worlds. Most casual players complain about tunnelling and camping for example, but if you watch a tournament you’ll see both those things quite often and the survivors don’t complain about it because they know it’s necessary. It’s basically impossible to compete against a good tournament team with a low tier killer or without some amount of tunnelling. Tournaments also put restrictions or bans on certain perks, add ons and items for a reason.

DBD is really not designed or balanced for comp play, and most of the player base doesn’t even know that DBD tournaments exist. 99% of the player base is casual. The people who want killers like Spirit or PH nerfed are casual players, because we want the casual game experience to be fun. (I’m not using “casual” to be derogatory btw, I’m a casual player 100%.) Comp players usually won’t complain about killers being OP or needing nerfs because they know that against a tournament team, even an amazing Nurse isn’t guaranteed anything.

1 … 31 32 33 34 35 … 50
