  • One of the old gang, probably either Huntress or Myers. I hold out hope that my boy Trapper gets some love though. :(

Am I the only person who genuinely never gets mad if the last person gets hatch it's fair and square at that point for me

No, I really don’t care either. If someone has to get out through the hatch then I won anyway. You either slug for the 4K or accept the possibility of hatch, and I don’t have the time or give enough of a crap to slug for the 4K every time so I just let the chips falls where they may. It’s not a big deal in my opinion.

  • To remove the hatch they’d have to rework multiple perks, items, add ons, challenges and achievements. You can wish for it as much as you want but I really don’t think it’s going to happen, at least not any time soon. You’re better off just accepting that the hatch is a feature of the game and either stop caring about it, or play around it.

  • They were probably hoping NOED would activate so they’d be able to actually do something in the match other than hold M1 and watch a bar slowly fill up.

Pips and bloodpoints are the win condition in this game. If a killer 4ks, but gets 8k points and a depip, he lost. If he gets 30k points, ruthless, and a 1k, he won.

Yes but what you’re saying makes no sense in the context of this post. You’re talking about the killer’s win condition like it has any meaning to the survivors. I have no way to know whether the killer pips or not, it’s entirely separate from whether or not the survivors pip and honestly nobody gives a ######### about pips after about 500 hours unless you’re Tru3talent.

Besides which, if a killer depips and gets ######### for points but kills all 4 survivors, they all depipped and got ######### for points as well. That kind of match means that the survivors also lose. So why are you saying “well the killer depipped” like that means the survivors won? The survivors all died and depipped so they ALSO lost by any possible metric of success. So how is a game in which everybody playing it loses healthy or fun?

I don't see the issue with a green Mori. If you want to complain about his playstyle, by all means. But it's a green mori. It's not that bad and you can still pull through and win. I've seen it happen and I've made it happen.

The fact that your first comment in the OP is sarcasm while obviously referencing the use of NOED. Unless you're one of those people who like to pretend they're not alluding and only want to be called out for directly saying it, in which case you didn't.

You really don't see an issue with a build that allows the killer to delete one survivor and then add an extra generator's worth of time (at least) to the survivors' objective? Really?

I'm talking about the stupid "jUsT dO bOnEs" meme that people think is actual advice. I don't have a problem with NOED in its concept, my problem with it is when it goes hand-in-hand with stupid ######### like moris, face camping with Bitter Murmur or insta down add ons. I thought my issue was pretty clear from the title, my first post and the fact that all of the builds I posted contained the aforementioned.

  • @Desh said:

I don't really see the issue with Legion besides the fact he had NOED, Every time I or my team gets wiped because of NOED, I get mad at myself or others for not doing bones. Especially when the team wanted to Gen Rush. it's not complicated, quit being lazy.

And bashing Killers for running NOED in EGC/Forums gets you no where because people can play how they want to. Regardless of what perk, add-on/offering, or Killer they choose.

The Legion brought a green mori and tunnelled the first person off hook. Doing gens and all totems in a 3v1, which is skewed massively in the killer's favour, is not realistic.

I'd also like you to point out where I bashed anyone or said people can't run NOED.

  • @Dwinchester said:

When you play survivor, it's not a 1v1, it's a 1v4, so if the collective wins, you win, even if you die. That's what so many people dont understand about this game.

But whether the killer pips or depips or safety pips has nothing to do with any of that.

  • @Dwinchester said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/187485/just-do-bones-the-musical

That's two depipps, a brutal, and maybe a ruthless. The vast majority of those were losses in every way that matters. So who exactly cares if they were running noed?

Are there really people who care about whether the other side pips or not?

  • @gibblywibblywoo said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/187485/just-do-bones-the-musical

I tend to prioritise bones meself. Small game is a godsend for a solo queuer but it could really do with a totem counter token system. The only time "do bones" has no strength is against an actually good killer who can end chases quickly. At that point you really don't have a choice but to try and do all the gens and play around it.

Thankfully good killers rarely use NOED outside of niche endgame builds so its not a big issue.

The problem is, against a killer with a mori, even if they're not great they can usually mori the first guy off hook and then the gens slow down massively. Cutting the survivor team down by 1/4 is not an insignificant hurdle, which is why so many NOED users also run moris.

  • @Reinami said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1586722#Comment_1586722

Against a facecamper you ignore the bones and do the gens. Now the killer gets 1k, but the 3 of you escape.

Iri head huntress is easily beatable, most of them are bad, but remember it limits her hatchets and she is going to really go for those hatchets to the point of ignore m1 most of the game. Use that to your advantage.

Mori is rough but is able to be dealt with. But you need to stop relying on all of your second chance perks. When someone gets hooked, that person should hide/do gens while a different person trys to get the killers attention. Do that correctly a couple of times and you got the gens done. Look at keys, killers deal with those all the time, a mori is just the killer equivalent of a key.

"But you need to stop relying on all of your second chance perks"? Where did I mention what perks I was running?

  • @PigMainBigBrain said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1586722#Comment_1586722

The Mori doesn't do anything if you're not constantly getting caught, and the Iri Head doesn't do anything if you're not constantly getting caught. The best way to do bones is stealthy and with perks like small game. Hell, I would bring small game just on the off chance you end up with a hag or trapper. The perk is never not useful, and theres alternative perks that do the same thing like detectives hunch etc. Get stealthy, and do bones.

"Just don't get caught" may be even more useless advice than "just do bones", I'm not gonna lie.

With mori in play just rush gens, you don't have enough time to cleanse every or most totems in the match.

Yes, I agree. Making "just do bones" an overly simplistic and unrealistic suggestion in many cases. :)

Against a face camper, leave one survivor to die and do all 5 bones and 3 gens in the time being.

Do 5 totems and 3 gens in 120 seconds? I'm not sure that's realistic unless you're running in a 4 man SWF and know the map inside out, which I'm not.

  • @Reinami said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/187485/just-do-bones-the-musical

Sounds like you have more of a problem with moris and iri heads more than anything. Both of which devs have stated they are looking at. Huntress is likely up next for an addon rework and devs are looking at moris and keys.

    Also.

    JUST.

    DO.

    BONES.

Do you have an answer to my question?

How can I find time to do bones against a face camper, or an Iri Head Huntress, or a mori?

  • For killer: Save The Best For Last. I love this perk and any time I play a killer that M1s a lot I use it. Without it the post-hit cooldown just feels so sluggish and the distance survivors get is too much. It really punishes certain play styles too.

For survivor: Kindred. I get so much information from this perk it’s like I’m playing in a SWF without actually having one. I can see the killer, I know when they’re coming for me and can avoid them/run to a safe tile earlier. I can see all of my teammates so I can stay away from them, and can coordinate saves as efficiently as possible. I’m surprised more killer players don’t complain about this perk tbh.

  • Giving her a phasing animation wouldn’t fix anything. Anyone who has played Spirit a couple of times can figure out when she’s phasing and won’t fall for dumb fake phase tricks. The real problem people have with Spirit is that she’s totally invisible while in phase.

  • If I see multiple team mates Self Caring in stupid situations I just let go on hook to be honest. People can defend the perk but everyone knows that people who complain about Self Care aren’t complaining about the people who use it well, but the people who use it to screw over their team, which is approximately 95% of SC users.

  • @Zeus said:

    Why sprint burst?

I assume the idea is that they can pick themselves up, take a hit and Sprint Burst away.

  • I play solo and run Kindred. So if I’m on a hook, my perk tells my teammates when it’s safe to save me and so I’m typically saved in good time. If I’m on the ground, there’s no way for me to tell my teammates whether to leave me or save me, and the bleed out timer is longer. So you usually spend longer on the ground than you do on the hook.

Plus usually the kind of slugging people call boring is when someone slugs for the 4K, for example. You’re left on the ground while the killer wanders around. Your teammate picks you up, the killer comes back and puts you back in the dirt, and this cycle continues for what feels like five years. Picked up, slugged, wait, picked up, slugged, wait. This kind of slugging is boring because it goes on for so long and you can’t really do anything about it. At least if I’m on the hook at the end of the match I can let go and move on if I see that it’s hopeless.

If people complain about being slugged when they’re baiting an obvious DS, people are sabotaging hooks or it’s an Oni in his power and he just saw someone else, for example, then they’re being stupid. Slugging when it makes sense is absolutely fine. It’s being slugged for nearly the full bleed out timer or being repeatedly slugged whenever you’re picked up that sucks.

I guess I just assumed it was active because of the in-game message of "We have activated the hit validation beta on live servers". My bad, I didn't know they disabled it and didn't say anything.

They probably didn’t announce it in-game because they didn’t want to give lag switchers a convenient reason to go back to exploiting. It’s the same reason they don’t announce when they disable the disconnect penalties.

Edit: They often announce these things on their Twitter, like here: https://www.twitter.com/DeadByBHVR/status/1299082583003803648

I just had multiple VPN killer games. And the same thing that was happening before server hit validation is still happening after the implementation. I'm not saying nobody asked for it, because everyone did including me, I'm saying that it didn't really do anything (especially like fixing VPN killers like they said it would). I didn't mention crossplay whatsoever, in fact I'm very happy they did this. But the cons outweigh the pros. The aura change was not needed at all and was perfectly fine. Nobody complained about it until they changed it for some reason. Your sarcasm doesn't make much sense... My argument was that the developers were spending time on unneeded changes instead of the important things that the community asks for.

Hit validation isn’t currently active, it was in beta and they paused it because it was causing issues with certain killers (Huntress, Plague and Nurse).

The devs explained that the aura changes were made because the way the old auras were programmed would cause them bugs and issues. So your “nobody asked them to change that” may be true in the sense that nobody complained about the old auras, but it demonstrates that they’re actively working on improving the game and updating some of its older code, which is something people regularly ######### about.

So my point is that the changes that they’ve been making are only “unneeded” in your opinion.

  • Yeah, what’s with BHVR adding in all these highly requested features and improvements like server-side hit validation, crossplay, and changes to the way the game is coded that prevent future bugs (aura change)? What, are they trying to improve their game or something?

  • No, this is a trick that most killers don’t even try and it’s fair when it works out. If you need to drop the pallet, you have to be more decisive about it. Either drop it earlier or don’t give them the space to block it. If this is happening to you a lot then you’re misplaying.

and telling people to end their life over a video game is not terrible, cause prior to this a swf told me to kms. But you're right, they're just annoyed and are completely justified in their actions.

Dude, what? Nobody is condoning telling people to kill themselves, I'm pretty sure everyone would agree that that's totally unacceptable. But "the way you play makes me want to die" is not the same, it's obvious hyperbole and while it's not a nice thing to say it really isn't worth getting upset over.

I had a killer tell me to slit my own throat, and a killer call me a noob gen rusher who's bad at the game. One of those is an awful thing to say and I reported it accordingly and the other is just stupid trash talk that shouldn't be taken seriously.

  • Yeah I’ve been running into a lot of killers that will hard tunnel one person out of the match and then make the shocked Pikachu face that the gens got done and they only got the one kill.

If this keeps happening to you in particular, just run a build to counter it. In my opinion Iron Will is one of the best anti-tunnel perks depending on where you were hooked, because you can sneak away once unhooked and if the killer comes back it will be harder to find you. DS is pretty obvious. Adrenaline can help if your team actually does gens, and exhaustion perks are always useful. You can also run a med kit with enough charges for one heal and enough to use a syringe, and if you get tunnelled just use the syringe to heal in chase. Make tunnelling you as painful for them as possible and they may switch targets.

That’s the thing you can’t buff/nerf around swf or the top 1% as only the top sweat squads are op every other swf is balanced more or less only thing you can do is buff solo and killer to be at a closer level

They shouldn't necessarily rebalance the entire game around top 1% SWFs, but when perks are designed or changed they absolutely should keep these kinds of groups and how they will use perks in mind. I'm sure they do these days, since most recent survivor perks aren't as easily stackable as the old perks, but a perk isn't really okay if it's balanced for most people but broken in the hands of a few. The same way they try to balance perks to be fair on all killers rather than saying, "oh well this perk is horribly overpowered on X killer but they're rare so we'll just leave it how it is."

  • Because if you learn to play her, you can easily 4K against 99% of survivors. People say she’s weak against SWF and/or flashlights but this is really not my experience at all. Hag is a powerhouse against even really sweaty teams. People with experience know how to counter her but even one weak link can crumble the team.

She has strong anti-loop (by not chasing directly), strong map control, she can slug like a champ and playing injured against her is extremely risky. She’s great at snowballing. Luckily, a lot of people don’t find her fun to play so she’s rare to face.

  • @DrBrain said:

I am really curious who asked for cross play over bug fixes tbh

People have been asking for crossplay for a long time.

  • Eh, that video was too long for me. If you can’t express your ideas concisely then I don’t see the point.

  • Yeah I wish people would cut the devs some slack at times. Don’t get me wrong, they make some decisions that I think deserve to be criticised, but sometimes people can take it too far.

And the people who say the devs “never listen” are wrong. They claim that the devs don’t listen to anyone, but really the devs just don’t listen to them in particular. If they don’t instantly nerf DS or NOED then it means they don’t care. But the fact is that they have to balance this game for everybody. And they’ve added a ton of highly requested features but once they’re added, people flip out. The community used to scream for dedicated servers constantly, and then as soon as they were added (as requested!) people started screaming about them being the worst thing ever done. Same with crossplay.

I appreciate the fact that the game is still being supported and changed, even if I disagree with the devs or wish they did some things differently I do appreciate that everyone who works on DBD seems to be passionate about it. And despite my annoyances with some things I do feel that the community is listened to.

  • I think it’s when you pair it with the filament, you put the battery first then the filament second and get longer use out of the whole thing. Someone correct me if I’m wrong though.

im on console, you can only turn off messages completely and i shouldnt be forced to do that due to one game, i should have to ruin and cause more hassle for all my other games because people cant be respectful. so ill back out and find a new lobby in a min, no issue to me and then i cant play the game. i love how people moan at players that avoid horrible people like wut, why would anyone want to play with people like that, its a damn game they need to grow up a little.

Then shouldn’t survivors also have the option to avoid killers that are rude and horrible?

Shame most survivor perks counter the killers, besides thats still a 4v1 even if that was the case. if you really need to check profiles theres an issue with you, just play the damn game instead of trying to get extra advantages. if balance has to be that perfect swf would be balanced as well as alot of other things. theres no need to see the killers profile at all. Ping to the server sure, profile NOPE. plus you can just set profiles on private so maybe survivors should do that if theyre so inclined to complaining about things that do not matter in the slightest.

If you’re saying that all profiles should be hidden pre-game, I agree. Nobody needs to see their opponent’s profile before the game even starts.

  • I don’t believe the devs should listen to the balance suggestions of anyone who only plays one side, personally.

  • Same reason people don’t like getting stun-locked in any game. It feels annoying to be immobilised by multiple stuns.

  • @EntitySpawn said:

If you can see my profile then you can see my clips and uploads, this can show my killers and the perk builds i run on them which mean you can full on counter certain builds just because. you can also check my time played, overall kills, achievements etc. all of which would show my 3 years of owning the game, all this will do is make people lobby dodge and back out... survivor is already easy, the killer can see the survivors because theyre meant to adjust to the survivors items etc. and the only time killers back out is due to keys, 4man swf or toxic players and i think thats fair reasons, not like lobbies are long.

All of this applies to killers being able to see survivor profiles, by the way.

  • Personally I don’t care about bloodpoints or emblems when I play killer, I just find keys annoying because they totally disrupt the flow of the match. If survivors are going to escape it should be through playing the match as intended. If they beat me fair and square and make it through the gates then they deserve their escape, and if they get the hatch as the last guy then whatever. Keying out is stupid though.

(And yes this same reasoning applies to moris. If a killer kills me via chasing me down or outplaying the team then good for them, but being able to mori off first hook is stupid.)

I’ve only ever seen 1 killer do this.

I imagine once the new “pre-set” traps appear in-game that more players will be more apt to handle scenarios like this.

    Pre-set traps?

  • I’m pretty sure it’s affected by latency/dedicated servers. There will be times the person playing GF is totally behind cover and they get revealed through a wall, and times where you’re staring at him dead centre and nothing happens. It’s extremely frustrating whichever side you’re playing.

  • @RizeAki said:

You got a point it do be like that I run the best perks on killer and most of the time on survivor so I can’t complain but I think everyone agrees ds makes it possible to abuse it too easily but then again if they do it’s one time use so I don’t think a fix should be too high on the list

I don’t think anybody really likes DS, but unfortunately it’s necessary if you want to make tunnelling a less attractive playstyle and protect yourself from being farmed. I try not to complain about any perks on either side too much, except Object which can die in a fire.

  • If you check your copy of the killer rule book for survivors you’ll find it on page 1, no strong perks are allowed. Even if you’re playing the exercise in frustration that is solo survivor, you’re not allowed to make the killer’s job harder or inconvenience them in any way.

1 … 28 29 30 31 32 … 50
