Self Care is actually more efficient. Heal time is the same: 2 Survivors healing for 16 seconds is the same as one for 32 seconds with regard to doing generators. But there's no time spent finding each other. Self Care's performance with regard to Survivor outcomes is quite good, actually.
It's not always the right play to spend 32 sec to heal, but it's not always the wrong play, either.
I think I should put this response on a keyboard macro. :D
Good players aren’t fumbling around looking for heals. You stay injured and do gens, then get a heal once you come across another survivor.

and ruin was used in 80% of red rank trials.
you can have 4 people in a trial with DS and never see it being used. the fact killers think people just having it equipped = overperforming.
Equipping DS is more powerful than most killer perks. Even one person having it completely changes the game. The perk is so dumb that it doesn’t even have to be activated to have an effect.

Now I see killer mains who say survivor is easy and yet can't themselves. If you can't handle a chase as survivor but make bold claims your argument is invalid.
I am an expert looper as well as a killer main. There is literally nothing to it other than memorization. No one is impressed.
-
Another point that seems to unsaid: the killer SHOULD be at an advantage in the chase. This is a 4 V1 game and the killer is supposed to be the power role. A survivor isn't supposed to last that long, meanwhile, people in here think they should be able to loop and slam pallets at will.

How are jungle gyms unfair? Unless you are playing a completely M1 killer like GF, legion or wraith you have ways of cutting them.
Most killers can’t do anything about it. You forgot trapper, pig, Myers and others btw. Regardless, that situation shouldn’t exist against any killer.
-

I don't think "lack of counterplay" is really an issue, especially in a game that is not really all that competitive.
But spirit does not seem quite right to me, I mean, she has her difficulty and all, but comparing her with killers like hag, billy, huntress and nurse with a high skill ceiling, she just feels too easy to play for what she offers, same problem I had with old billy and current freddy.
Its okay that a killer is strong, but to get to play him to his maximum potential you should have to put a considerable amount of brains on it, and with spirit its really not that hard, specially with add-ons.
As a Nurse main, about 90% of my games feel “easy” because the majority of survivors don’t even try to engage in mindgames. It’s 2020 and they are still doing things like running in a straight line and slamming pallets. Most of the community stinks at the game, to be totally honest.
-
@Waffleyumboy said:
That's a really fancy way of saying "I don't know how mind games work, but I'm gonna explain them anyway!"
Mind games involve guessing from both players, Spirit involves guessing from the survivor while she retains all the tools she needs to gain an advantage. Killers don't rely on survivors making mistakes to get downs, they take chances with 50/50s in order to have a shot at ending the chase early. Otherwise they have to use their power to close the chase gap and prevent the survivor from extending it indefinitely. This is objectively how chases work, you have no argument here so I don't expect you to respond. If you do respond, try not to resort to name calling too fast, that would be boring and predictable.
What 50/50s? Loops like jungle gyms and some buildings are blatantly unfair. There is no guess, the survivor is in control.
-
Also there are ALOT of snowflakes in here if they think that DS is too much. He is straight up garbage in comparison to Nurse and Spirit.

That is angle and positioning which is technically skill. Also you make it sound way easier than it is even though most survivors fail at doing so.
There is literally nothing hard about playing survivor. If you know the tiles, you are untouchable against most killers.

He isn't though, that's the thing. He definitely has potential to be high tier with bug fixes/hitbox fixes. The good thing is that we're getting another killer that isn't just "run away until you inevitably go down/have zero gameplay counter to their power" like Freddy (to most people, I personally just think he got over-buffed slighlty with all his systems)/Spirit/Pyramid Head.
When I go down to a Billy I have fun and I usually go "damn he got me, this guys good." When I go down to a Spirit or Pyramid head its "wow, this guy has stridor, or wow this guys really good at spamming his auto win projectile at every pallet/vault"
Survivors can actually have their own skill affect the outcome of the chase again (for some godforsaken reason, a vocal minority of killers on this forum think thats a bad thing). Like with Oni (who is extremely strong and arguably top 3, people don't hate him because he is fun for both sides and has counterplay).
I look forward to both playing as and against this killer. He looks extrmely fun.
There is very little skill in playing survivor. If you know the tiles, you’re golden.

Okay I guess I am just stupid but I don't really understand what you mean with the first example lol. And I mean you are kind of right with the last one. Totally fair your opinion and its not really wrong. I think of it this way: Having to play the strongest killer in the game with 4 strong perks strong add-ons while doing no mistakes is not equal to it.
4 friends are just playing as an 4 man swf and they are just playing these easy to get perks. And are about average at the game.
That's just why I think it is not really balanced.
The first part means that you feel like you should win without having to try. This is a common talking point I hear (this is so stressful, too hard). You’re probably spoiled from winning, since most players suck ass at this game. But against good players, you should have to sweat. The game would be in a pretty poor state if you could beat good players without trying.

Yes I made a few mistakes, and yes I used two range add-ons. I use two flex perks (Shadowborn and deerstalker) because in 99% of the games I only need two perks which are nurses and bbq. I mean if the only real way to beat 4 man swfs all running full meta perk builds is a strong nurse with optimal add-ons that is using 4 perks and makes no mistakes, than its not really balanced lets just say that xD.
That is totally unreasonable. You are basically saying that you want to sip a drink, talk on the phone, and cook a pizza while still dominating. If that were possible, this game would be incredibly broken. If survivors are using meta stuff, you have to use meta stuff. This is true of any pvp game. Use what’s available to you or don’t complain.

https://youtu.be/K3m4Vf3E84M Edit: Sorry for no sound but I was in a discord call while this game was going, and I don't want you guys to listen to our conversations since it was really private.
With this post I don't want to complain to the devs about balancing issues or what so ever. I just want to hear a few opinions on this.
In my opinion its almost impossible to beat a 4 man swf if they all just run meta perks. This match I of course made mistakes, but the survivors did too. I mean I didn't do really many mistakes at all, and I also played way better than them. And I can also say the survivors wouldn't have won if they didn't all run these meta perks.
They had 4x DS, 3x DH, 1x SB, 4x BT. It was almost impossible to stop them because gens just go faster than I can down them. Even if I presure the gens really well and keep killing them. I just keep losing more and more time because of mainly DH, I also ate DS even tho I didn't tunnel.
If not even one of the best nurses in the game with omega blink can win against a 4 man swf with all running meta perks. Than that kind of speaks a lot of volume, and now imagine this with someone who doesn't play nurse, or just a killer that isn't that good, even someone who plays spirit wont win even if he plays better than them.
I already mentioned this is not suppost to be a cry baby killer post where I complain about balancing. But I just want to hear a few opinions on this, what do you think of it?
I am also a rank 1 Nurse main who consistently 4ks. Here’s my feedback:
-Build: this is your biggest problem. Nurse’s, deerstalker, and shadowborn are doing nothing for you. Good players know not to heal too close to Nurse, and deerstalker is replaced by having an awareness of the map. You NEED gen defense, whether that’s pop, corrupt, ruin or some combination of those. There were numerous times that you could have squashed them if you hooked and attacked the gens.
-addons: I had a hard time telling, but I think you used double range. Optimal addons are 1 range and 1 charge.
you were right to stay near the boat, but you should have patrolled the nearby gens.

That's not even close to the same thing. Spirit actually was crap in the PTB, which is why people complained and she was buffed.

Considering it doesnt work half the time im gonna say no. Good killers dont fall for that Dead Hard nonsense anyway.

And where is the basis of this 'factual' data? Are you in possession of everyone else's gaming experience, or have you in fact just made a generalized statement, ignoring issue that others have posted while adding the stock 'Crybaby survivor mains' insult?
At the end of the day, everyone's experiences seem to differ, and honestly who cares if they play crossplay or not? Some will choose to, some won't, why do the latter deserve a personal attack because they choose not to for whatever reason? It boggles the mind as to how many silly reasons people jump on in order to insult the other side.
People opting out of crossplay hurts the wait time. And all of the "reasons" listed I very much doubt are based in fact. I have been playing CONSTANTLY on PC for like two years and have never seen a hacker or exploiter.

Yeah, he migh be weaker but that wasn't my point.
It's about those People who abused those broken Add-Ons who call Billy trash now because they relied on unbalanced Add-Ons to win just like they did with Nurse.
People who always played Base Billy won't notice any difference at all when they were good with him.
Base billy isn’t/ never was good
-
@MrDardon said:
That's the usual thing. People who abused cheap and busted Add-On's will now succ arse with new Base Billy because they won't have busted crap anymore.
People who played base kit Billy before will do just as fine with current Billy since those People didn't rely on certain Add-On's to win Matches.
Same happened when Nurse got reworked. People lost their precious Omega/3-5 Blink Nurse and then said the Killer was trash after the Rework but that's not the case because People who played Basekit Nurse before will do the same with current Nurse, I still think she needs other Basekit Changes and make her less miserable. Billy went from Garbage to pretty much the same as before but with actual slight basekit Changes and Restrictions which won't affect good Billy's but also nerfed the busted Add-On's.
Nurse already had Restrictions and now it's worse. They should've just increased the fatigue time since the Counter to Nurse makes more sense (hiding from her LoS while she can't see anything). But currently she sees you and can just hold W and don't you dare mess up a Blink because you didn't wait for the 100 % but only 98.9 % so no 2nd Blink for you (which is the most frustrating Part).
This is a bigger hit to Billy than it was Nurse. As a Nurse main, I can tell you that she still has great mindgames to enforce. Billy is not hitting skilled survivors with the chainsaw. The character is totally unviable against good teams now. It's easier just to use Nurse.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/177961/people-who-truly-believe-spirit-is-not-op-why
People say shes op because there is no counter play, because she is all rng but the fact is that she is guessing too, survivor can do stuff to trick her and she can do so aswell. Spirit is usually in control of a chase and thats another reason why people dont like her, because killer can actually decide how the chase is gonna end and not relying on survivors making a mistake. Also its funny that people complain about how rng she is when most of the mechanics that survivor can utilize are kind of rng as well, for example gen placement, totem placement and then loops which are also a rng( a mindgame). Survivor is in control of a loop against most killers and you cant just keep bruteforcing every loop or else you loose. You have to try and do the mind game. By doing so you are just guessing what the survivor is gonna do....
How is guessing not fair? I’d argue that what other killers have to do (eat pallet after pallet with little to no counter) is much more unfair than guessing. The survivor dictates everything.

Recently, we have been getting power reworks or killers that have amazing anti loop potential, that makes looping irrelevant. We had oni, where in his power, he denies almost every loop besides shorter loops and long walls. After Oni we had the gunslinger, who can shoot over most tiles and can reel survivors in, if he can see them. We got pyramid head after gunslinger, who can shoot through walls and deny loops entirely. Now, we have new Bubba, who has amazing anti loop potential, without denying loops. I think the devs are trying to push for less looping in the game. With powers like this, I think looping will be non meta, and instead pre throwing pallets will be the meta. Just my opinion though.
Holding forward has always been and will always be better than looping. Way too many survivors don't take advantage of the speed boost when they get hit, and allow the killer to approach for a free hit.

tell me one legitimate counter to spirit instead of just "MiNdGAmE hEr"survivors say its boring because you arent able to incorporate any experience into the chase its just guessing, theres no input on the survivors end that can change the outcome im sorry but you cant just dismiss this as " oh your entitled because you cant bully them " again the killers that are fun to verse are killers like huntress, billy even nurse to some extent
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1449495#Comment_1449495
also i hate when people say this because good spirits run stridor
How are you not able to incorporate experience? You can learn the tendencies of the particular spirit you are playing against and use those to make a read on what she will do. “Just guessing” is part of literally any competitive game. The fact that other killers have very few mind games to enforce is an outlier in games, and probably shows that killer in general needs a rework.

I've been playing dbd since it came to ps4 for free one month back in 2018 and since I've been playing the game I've really enjoyed it, but very quickly I noticed that there was a lot of balancing issues on both sides, I personally play survivor more and I've noticed that majority of the killers played legit have no counter-play. Killers like pyramid head and deathslinger are just some examples. It's also bad for the killer because you can still lose with them so it's not even fun for either side, not to mention the billy rework that changed his base kit and has since made him worse, even with the new changes and killers being implemented into the game and I would just like to see better changes and killers. in conclusion, ghostface should also lose stalk progression when you reveal him :)
"no counterplay" is survivor code for "I can't completely negate the killer's power without having to think, therefore the killer is broken". Play more and learn how to go against all of them before you complain more.
-
We've finally arrived....people are now screaming for general killers nerfs as opposed to certain characters. Is this the survivor main's final form?
-
@johnmwarner said:
Now obviously there is a lot to be said for great loopers than can extend chases for 3-4-5 gens using jungle gyms and mind games... not trying to make that sound unimpressive or unnecessary.
But a great many players would be so much better just holding W and making distance as often as possible rather than waiting and trying to play every loop.
As killer I’ve often had players run me around a loop once, drop the pallet and take off when I break it. Even if they do nothing special this can waste huge amounts of time. If, IF IF your teammates are doing gens the killer can easily lose 2-3 gens and there are still plenty of pallets to play the rest of the game for everyone else.
Again, learning proper looping is essential to eventually get better but so many players would be better of running straight ahead rather than camping a pallet, eating a hit AND wasting a pallet, then standing there blinding the killer like their favorite streamers do.
This is the smartest post i’ve seen on here in awhile. Holding forward requires literally no thought or skill, and yet wastes a ton of time. It is especially brutal against slower killers like Deathslinger and Huntress, even more so on maps with alot of LOS blockers.

Whether the nurse nerf back then was justified or not (that's not the topic here) I want to bring up how devs worded her change with the "slightly". The change however had a MASSIVE impact on Nurse. So far that majority just don't touch her anymore and she became less popular than hag (which was the least played killer to that point).
And Now, look what word they use for Billy: "minimal".
Oh devs, you are pissing me off. You are happy how Billy is? Don't touch him! He is by far the most balanced killer in the game. The blueprint of what a killer has to be.
I have over 200 moris and really strong addons on him. I'm going to use them all now and probably let him collect dust after nerf like my nurse. Idk who I'm going to main next because there is no other killer appealing me.
I hate how M cote said that "if you want to play competetive and tryhard just play nurse or Billy" and they change them both now. Ok then.
Now Billy and Nurse will reminisce in the retirement home. It was good while it lasted.

Okay? No one mentioned or asked you to follow the survivor rule book. Obviously the Devs said camping is a strategy but that dosen’t mean they SUPPORT it. obviously they’re against it because they nerfed the ability to camp cages right? Everything happens for a reason. So if you rely on camping and tunneling to win then play your “Nurse” but sorry, you’re not gonna get much value of camping with PH after this patch (:
Well like I said, not a big deal since I annihilate people with Nurse lol. It's going to be survivors who pay the price, not me.

It’s not pointless. You’re just mad you can’t camp or tunnel the survivor out of it anymore. Hook perks still don’t work out of the cage so why are you whining? Maybe you should patrol the generators. After all, there are 3 OTHER survivors not just 1
Well first off, the devs have said that camping and tunneling are valid strategies; I don't follow the baby survivor rule book. Second, I easily can tunnel if I want to since I main the Nurse. People with DS rarely ever live against my Nurse. This change just creates one less killer who can legit counter survivors.
-
@LimeSoda said:
As someone who mains Pig (along with Demo and Myers), Pyramid Head is definitely still stronger than Pig.
How? You can gain ALOT more from the traps than you can a cage. Traps can waste a ton of time, and even get a kill with the right addons. PH antiloop is better, time (the most important trait for a killer) 100% favors the pig.
-
@Peanits said:
Definitely wouldn't go that far. If you only used it to camp the cage and then tunnel them knowing full well that Borrowed Time or Decisive Strike wouldn't activate, then sure, it's going to be less appealing now (as it should be). Under normal circumstances, however, it still has benefits. Putting them in a cage sends them as far away from you as it can, so if you know all the other survivors are close, you can force them to go across the map to save them. It also allows you to completely avoid flashlight or pallet saves, and saves you the time you would spend picking them up and bringing them to a hook.
Why would I not then just play the Pig? She is guaranteed to waste time with the traps, even if they get them off on the first box. You can't always know the position of the other survivors, so caging is a risk. You could easily send them across the map to a teammate and then you gained nothing. His power feels utterly pointless now.
-
@KingFrost said:
What's the point?
-No DS
-No Kindred giving away your position
-No Borrowed Time
-No worry about sabotaged hooks
-You can instantly go for another survivor instead of going to hook the on you've just downed or worry about unbreakable or another survivor picking them back up. Making Infectious fright super useful.
None of that matters because you can't take advantage of it anymore since the cage location is unknown. The only way you will be able to take advantage now is dumb luck of running into them after the cage. That's now yet another RNG element in a game that has too many of them.
@DwightOP said:
Are you serious? You simply can't camp like a braindead baboon anymore, that's why you cry? Because all the perks still don't work. Maybe git gud and stop camping?

Do you chase yourself when you play chasey? Because were doing a 360 here.
The devs metric (2 escapes, 2 kills) along with the stats (70% killrate) is a HUGE difference to what was happening at release.
You sticking your fingers in your ears going 'lalalalalalalala not listening' doesn't disprove what I'm saying.
So because they removed infinites and broken stuctures and healing speed, they are now catering to baby killers? Of course the stats are higher now, the game was literally broken early on.

a) Your focusing on all ranks, red ranks (where people know what they are doing) is a much higher killrate. But even then with the exception of nurse, ALL killers are above 50% (the devs unit of metric). Your statement discounts all of that.
b) 'Stats aren't facts' is quicker for you to type. Stats are still better than anecdotal talking points.
c) 'massive amount' please show me the stats on this. Because last I heard (according to the devs) d/c is down considerably. And if you're worried about suicides, its probably good to listen to the advice of the OP in this very thread, maybe people will do it less xD.
Once again you skip over solo vs. swf, but in any event, if you followed the trajectory on the game you'd know that killer gets preferential treatment. SWF was introduced because of 'lobby wars' at release and killers have been getting buffed ever since. Furthermore, just look at almost every dlc = new unique killer, reskinned survivor, all there marketing is around killers, survivor is a sideshow to that process.
Yea stats really don’t account for the fact that most survivors are bad/trolling. I also find it funny that most survivors point to the stats to “prove” that killers are fine, while ignoring things like Nurse’s always low kill stats. Stats matter, except when you don’t want them to matter.
-
I have definitely been playing less. The game just feels predetermined most of the time. If you have a decent map and gen spread, you have a chance, and if not, a competent group will win. It also doesn't help that this game is balanced around scrubs who don't know how to play, which means that knowledgeable players are at a huge advantage.

You're not making much sense. You act like pc doesn't have any advantage over console when in fact it does. Its actually quite rare that when a game that does a crossover that is released on all systems pc gets included. Its cause comments sense.
Any slight advantage in an already controversial balance system. Can be make or break. How is it fair that if I like nurse. I will always be outplayed by a mouse and keyboard or I have to sweat twice as hard. You can't just ignore those " small details" my dude.
Most smart developers steer clear of console crossplay with pc wheb it has a competitive nature. Even realm reborn which is not competitive at all pc players have rotation advantages.
This is a terrible design choice the devs are doing. The smart thing to do is crossplay only Consoles to each other. Like every other compentent developers do.
What advantages does a PC DBD player have over console survivors? You are no more able to dodge Huntress or Nurse on KBM than you are with a controller. I have played both platforms extensively and I don't think either side will have an unfair advantage. If anything, you could argue that Console killers are at a disadvantage if they are playing Nurse or Huntress.

Another abysmal indoor map, nobody likes them but here the killers always have a high win ratio on them so lets put it in. 💩
Nurse says hi.

I have been a Freddy main since he dropped in 2017, as I am simply a massive Elm Street fanatic, I got pretty good at him too. I knew all his little little tips and tricks, and I even got up to the purple and early red ranks with him. I miss old Freddy, he wasn't the weakest killer, he was simply the most niche. I got a lot of hate for years for playing what was called the weakest killer, often just little jabs but there were some particularly nasty people there too.
I was incredibly disappointed (still am tbh) about his rework, but I still mained Krueger mostly because he was my only killer that I had literally every single perk and countless addons on. I got pretty good at the current Freddy too, and I see people constantly insult him even still. I think he needs some adjustments, not full nerfs exactly, and especially not to the degree that I see a lot of people on these boards asking.
It kinda feels like a real damned if you do, damned if you don't kinda situation.
I definitely don’t think Freddy should be nerfed. He is an m1 killer at the end of the day.
One thing I will say is that Freddy gets so much..... just for being Freddy. Survivors automatically get pulled into dream, which can slow down the game. He has a teleport that automatically recharges, and snares that he places without any care (clown gets slowed by his bottles and it’s his only power....LOL). Compare that to Nurse and Spirit, who have good powers, but have to put in work to get something out of them. Freddy just feels braindead by comparison.

Nurse is strong but still is no match for freddy. He has so much more going for him, and no negatives which is what makes him unfun. I would say she's second strongest with no addons and third with addons, as spirit's addons elevate her to another level much more than people realise.
I don't understand this logic. Yes, Freddy probably has better map mobility, and yes, he gets bonuses (lullaby, dream world, teleport) for just being Freddy, but he is just an M1 killer at the end of the day. The snares are decent but they don't make much of a difference at the really strong loops.

Nurse is way harder than huntress imo, because of the muscle memory.
Muscle memory is rote: you eventually don't have to think about it. What IS challenging though is knowledge of the map. You have to know how much blink charge it takes to get through various objects, while at the same time predicting where the survivor will be. This all happens in about a second, and you are punished for being wrong. She is definitely tough to use, but I think her muscle memory is actually the easier part.
As for Huntress, your aim has to be on point, and you have to account for objects as well as the trajectory of the ax, and the movement of the survivor.
