I don't know if I just haven't found the right resources, but it seems to me that whenever I try to look for advice against nurse the most you'll get is break LoS and more importantly, hope that the nurse player isn't very experienced. From what I'm learning, if the nurse is god tier, you just die. All that you can do is hope for hatch and see how much time you can waste. I'm aware that she's kind of a controversial topic for discussion. People that play her well aren't looking for changes in any way, which is understandable considering how much time they put into learning her kit. Maybe I'm the black sheep here, but Imo, playing against an experienced nurse sucks. It really just comes down to hiding and seeing how much time you can waste before she inevitably kills you and then your whole team. The best game I've ever had against a god nurse there were 3 generators done, and that's with literally spawning on her ruin. Dealing with god nurses just isn't fun. And honestly, neither is playing against inexperienced nurses. You don't really feel like you're ever truly in danger of losing and sure if you enjoy clowning on lesser skilled players than you it's probably enjoyable, but it's not my thing. Does anyone else agree? I feel like I need to just start running flashlights in every match of survivor on the off chance that it's against nurse. Even then I can only hope to waste maybe 1 minute of her time, tops. Is there any advice I'm not seeing to play against her? I find her pretty frustrating so I'll take all of the advice I can get. Thanks in advance.

When the Nurse begins her blink (by lifting her hand), the mind game begins. She has to know where she is blinking ahead of time, so she can't react to your movement. When you see her charging her blink, you either double back, keep running, or fake like you are going to double back. Her second blink has very limited range, so the guessing game is easier for you after she has spent the first one. This is in addition to breaking her sight, as you already mentioned. Dead hard is also godlike against her.

Indoor maps are the only time it doesn't work well, but even then it still works a lot of the time. Or are you trying to tell me that I haven't had the experiences I've had?

I'm telling you that most of your experience is against people who don't know how to play against Nurse. Bad players will just keep running or just keep doubling back. They don't adapt.

Blink to the place LoS was broken, second blink lands absolutely guaranteed unless you are completely boosted or you get bugged. It's what I do when I play Nurse.

This isn't true, especially on a map like Leary's. When you are blinking through walls you have to guess if they are going to keep running, turn, or double back. If you aren't able to see them on the first blink through the wall, then you have to guess.

Power role is a bad concept imo. The player(s) who play better are the power role. It’s called a trial for a reason.

Just because you are killer or surviving with friends does not mean you get to auto win.

Nobody said power role should be an auto win. But the power role should be more powerful than any one survivor, which is not the case for m1 killers.

But to hone your reaction time and to learn how to run requires skill. Screw those short ass farm loops. Those don't take much skill im talking about using loops efficiently and chaining them. THAT takes skill. Wasting pallets and using cheap annoying filler pallets aren't that much skill unless you have good baits and reads on the killer. You get a whole team who barely ever drops ONE pallet and unless you are nurse you'd lose. To think that its easy is so wrong

I play survivor alot....it's not hard at all. I sweat FAR more when I am playing killer.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/205686/why-the-looping-mindset-that-survivor-players-have-is-detrimental-and-is-slowly-killing-this-game

You just called Me and a majority of other survivors pathetic. Looping requires the most skill and gives the killers a better chance than stealth. I have gone against stealthy players and it is worse than not being able to land a hit. I like the idea of changing up the gameplay meta, but I disagree that im a bully just because I am better than the killer who chooses to lost the game. And frankly with how you worded it you are directly insulting a big majority of the players and I believe that goes against the rules so you might wanna edit that

Loops are not a good measure of how much better you are than the killer. There are far too many loops which are big/easy to see over. The killer can do literally nothing except eat the pallet unless you are Nurse and spirit, and possibly a few others. There are more than enough pallets on most maps, which allows you to be safe and spend them early.

Dead Hard used for distance has no counters? Is that really true or are you exaggerating? I'm a survivor main so I'm open to the idea that I'm bias but can you provide an example of no counter.

It is not an exaggeration. Situation: killer is chasing survivor who is running to a pallet or window. Normally, the killer would catch up, but with dead hard, the survivor is guaranteed to make the window/vault. Depending on the structure, this can easily add 30 seconds + to a chase. This isn’t even mentioning killers like Nurse and Huntress, who essentially have their power deleted and require them to catch the survivor 3 times in one chase (once to injure, once to take dead hard, once to down). If you are using it for invincibility, you are doing it wrong.

I disagree, any person with 1k hours who plays the game optimal can be overpowered with just about any perk. If a killer has 1k hours and play the game optimal and they also have noed. thats a bit too much as well if you think about it. And before you counter by saying that noed had counters while dead hard doesn't that's wrong because dead hard also has counters.

Furthermore we shouldn't balance perks because some people play optimal with it. The problem your describing seems to stem from skill not the perk.

Dead hard has literally no counters when used for distance. None. The only thing you can attempt is to go around the other side, but even that will only work on bad loops. If you don’t agree with this, you don’t understand the perk.

  • @Zozzy said:

Certain survivors want a concrete and mathematical way to "beat" all killers in a 1v1.

Deathslinger is like spirit where you need to get in their head and predict them.

This. God forbid the killer has an advantage in the chase when it’s a 4v1. Survivors are spoiled because they normally can enforce loops with little to no options for m1 killers. Time to get gud.

  • There is a lot of misinformation in this thread. Number 1 is, his “quick scope” is not as fast as you might think. If you don’t believe me, go play a match with him and tap m2 into m1; it doesn’t work.

Secondly, his gun is a projectile, not an instant shot. It is fast enough to not be as dodgeable up close, but DS has to predict your movement if you are further away. The most common scenario is that the survivor has distance and is near a corner. DS will be forced to take a shot, which means the survivor can change their path to make him miss. The distance he might gain is negligible since his movement is really slow while aiming.

I don't agree, especially with the Nurse and Huntress sentiments, mainly because the difference between the two is that there is a clear tell for when they'll use their power. They both have a bit of wind up that just doesn't exist with Deathslinger. He can just spam ADS until he has a clear shot or closes distance.

Nurse is far more powerful in the chase than DS. You also do have to guess against her, since you can't know how much distance she is going to take. Guessing is a normal part of pretty much all games btw, only the DBD community is upset that they don't always have full control of a chase.

And even without pocket watch you still have the longest lunge in the game. You can catch them. And don't blink to corners if they don't double back.

Im a nurse main. Mindgames don't work if you blink to corners. The only one that works is quick and quiet in a locker. I do play against potatoes a lot, but I'm still right.

If you blink to the corner and they decided to keep running/ use obstacles, the second blink doesn’t have enough range to catch them. It’s a guess.

They put stuff in the game they didnt realize would be broken. That doesnt mean it wasnt intended. This is evidence with moris and keys. Also survivor is not extremely easy to get good at. Just because you know what the tiles are and what is correct pathing does not mean you can preform such tasks.

Using such simple wording makes anything sound easy. "Killer is litterally just pressing m2 and space a couple of times and knowing when to turn to your camera." Killer isnt that hard in pubs. Both sides take skill to play at comp level killer more but it's just like rank.

There is far more skill as killer, especially when you consider the various powers (aiming, Nurse blinks, etc...) and you also have to have keen game sense of which gens to control, when to stop chasing, as well as pathing.

I'm telling you as a casual survivor that it is insanely easy. If a killer chooses to chase me near one or more strong loops, they are losing at least 2 gens. You have to earn everything as killer (even with the strongest perks like pop and BBQ), but if you fail at survivor and dropping pallets, you get rewarded with dead hard, decisive, and unbreakable. The game holds you hand. There is no comparison.

How where they not meant to be in the game? What? 😂 Listen man vacuum pallets where in the game to combat latency at first. Infinites yeah they werent supposed to be in the game. It is still a nerf because they are weaker than what they used to be. Nerf means making something weaker.

Honestly your argument falls apart when you say the op stuff wasn't meant to be in the game. Are you trying to say the devs put all this stuff in the game that wasnt intended. It clearly wasnt a bug.

Also even though killer rank 1 is harder it isnt that harder. Back in the day killer rank 1 took major skill. Nowadays the game is much easier for killers. Flexing rank 1 killer is dumb as well. Also rank doesn't even matter.

The devs 100% put stuff in the game that they had no idea about, hence why it was nerfed (which also supports them not knowing the game). I do agree that rank isn't a great measure of skill, but my point is that playing survivor is extremely easy. It's literally just knowing tiles and pathing. It isn't hard, especially when you add in broken stuff like Dead hard and Decisive.

If the devs are so biased why arent my insta blinds, vacuum pallets, infinite, op fast vaults, insta heals, etc not in the game? If they are as baised as you think why have they spent 2 years straight nerfing survivors? Why have they spent 2 years buffing killers and still continuing to do so? Are you simply just oblivious or want a reason to be a victim? Its honestly pathetic. One more thing they have spaghetti code so any "simple" changes could bug something else.

Almost none of the things you mentioned are actual nerfs, they are more just fixes. Instaheals, pallet vaccum, and infinites should never have been in the game to begin with. Also, skill and survivor don't belong in the same sentence Playing survivor is incredibly braindead. I play killer far more and still reach rank 1 survivor every month.

In terms of the devs being survivor-sided, I think it's more that they don't understand their own game. They think it is balanced because they don't pay attention to top-level play.

Nurse has complete control over chases. If they dont go down, 99% of the time you made a mistake.

You either don’t understand how she works, or you have been brainwashed into thinking this because 99% of survivors are potato. Most don’t even try to mindgame her and are still circling around things as if she is an M1 killer.

More like complete control. And if you're good, its impossible to get looped forever.

Nah, the survivor can make a read and last awhile. But yes, like with every other killer, they will eventually go down.

  • @ohheyitsbobcat said:

Probably because they want to show off how elite they are at Nurse and that there is little you can do to stop them. I've run into 3 different Nurses this week all stupidly good. Two of them slugged at 5-gens with infectious while the other slugged at 5-gens with no perks. All three gave no shits about DS.

The games were over in about two minutes as I'm sure most of their games are. The only reason to keep doing that is because they must get some kind of satisfaction in curb-stomping randos, showing off their skills or they happened to have a bad match before on some other killer and are now taking it out on the next group.

Good on them for being as skilled as they are and they have no doubt earned those quick games but ending every match in 2-minutes seems dreadfully boring to me.

It’s more boring to get looped forever with other killers. Nurse gives you some control.

Deathslinger is one of or the worst killer in dead by daylight. Don’t get me wrong, I like to go against good killer, and in general deathslinger is maybe a C- or D-tier, but the fact that you can’t dodge his shot (only he missed) is just frustrating. Every CS noob with 20hours dbd can down the best survivors in a few seconds with deathslinger and that shows something is going wrong. A 100%-down in 10 seconds can’t be the goal of a killer design/power! It’s totally fine that killers have different counterplays and survivors have to change their playstyle, but the important thing is: there must be a counterplay!

If a survivor is downed that fast, they aren’t good. Just holding forward after getting hit pretty much ensures that you are going to waste another 40 seconds minimum, more if he used the gun and has to reload.

I feel you do not understand what the other one was talking about. It's about and free zoning the DS gets when aiming and canceling it without cooldown to directly M1. It creates a lose-lose-situation for the survivor, if he tries to dodge he is imidiately hit with M1, if not he is imidiately speared. It's the same with PH, btw. I think this kind of situation is solved way better and fairer with Demo, sure he zone as well and hit imidiately when canceling shred, but he cannot jump imidiately. And his shred is only in a straight line and can be dodged.

No one wants to render DS power irrelevant, but there should be some more options for a chased survivor. Right now, being chased by a DS can be really frustrating, bc it doesn't matter what you do, it all depends on the killer whether he hits his shots or not. That's no good design, imo.

Demo is also one of the worst killers in the game, and he has something DS lacks: mobility.

She is in a dead zone in this particular clip, but that doesn't change anything tbh. Let's imagine there was a pallet right where she got downed. If she hadn't juked, she would have had kept enough distance to easily make the pallet. However, she would have been a sitting duck for the Deathslinger. The second he aims down sight once or twice and sees that she doesn't dodge in the slightest he can just shoot her in the back for an easy down. If this isn't your first chase with the survivor and they haven't dodged all match you don't even need to bother baiting a dodge. You can just shoot.

You can apply this same situation to most tiles in the game. If the survivor happens to be in a reasonably strong, reasonably round loop the Deathslinger can't shoot over, sure, they can run him like they could a Huntress in that same situation and he's going to have a bad time. Most tiles aren't like that, though, and his TR is miniscule with M&A and because it spins up more slowly/quietly than the default TR, so you really don't get to pick where you engage him. Most of the time tiles like that are nowhere close and you're pushed right into the classic lose/lose.

Legion is a good comparison, actually. They are my least favorite killer in the game, narrowly in front of Deathslinger and Pyramid Head, because they essentially get free deep wounds on the first survivor they see when their Frenzy is ready, and then they jet off to go chase someone else. That's no fun for the survivor, because they basically can't do anything about getting hit and then just need to sit there holding M1, but Legion is still weak because they don't have much to help them land a second hit.

I think Legion needs a full rework to their power so that it's no longer based on free deep wounds, while also making them more deadly. I think Deathslinger also needs the PH treatment. Like PH, Deathslinger's strength isn't really the issue. He's actually a lot weaker than PH and could benefit from some buffs. The issue is just the lack of counterplay in the chase. I don't want to have to hope the killer is bad or that I'm standing in a perfect tile when he shows up. I want to be able to make skillful plays to extend chases and also give the killer ample opportunity to make skillful plays to shorten chases.

Why should you be able to totally negate his power in the chase? It is a 4v1, killers should have an advantage.

Nurse's kill rare increased in red ranks after the "nerf"

PH will require practice to be good now, just like Nurse.

And Nurse is still the best killer in the right hands.

Please stop saying he could never compete, do you honestly believe the devs will nerf a killer if he's having a hard time with survivors?

I 100% believe the devs would nerf a killer who isn’t great (see the multitude of pig nerfs). They don’t know their game.

It sounds like you are talking about a situation in which DS is close to the survivor; I was talking about at range. Yes, up close there isn't much you can do to avoid the shot, but most killers are getting a hit if you are that close. But if you are near a pallet, DS has to guess if you are going to drop it or go around. He can wait for the drop, but then he isn't getting a down.

Not fun is subjective. No counterplay is not. Nobody is asking for a hard counter. There just needs to be a downside to his ability to zone.

This isn't an argument you're going to win, bud.

You are most definitely asking for a hard counter. You should not be able to render his power irrelevant on reaction. You and other survivor mains don’t like killers that force you to play differently: you want to be able to enforce loops on everyone.

Yeah that's a choke point but even then its still a guess for all you know a good DS knows choke points where he wont shoot and allow you to dodge.

It doesn't matter if he know it or not. He has to guess. The survivor can abandon the point altogether and run in a different direction, or run around the corner after he fires. It is a guess, plain and simple.

No they have to guess when you shoot. If you can isnta shoot you can shoot before they wiggle.

It’s obvious when he is going to shoot most of the time. If you are running along a structure or tile, DS has to shoot before you reach the corner. It’s not hard to know when he will do it

Oh yea sorry i forgot. Killer are the masterrace and survivors are all noobs. Very impressive argument again...

No they can not be safe. When you wiggle constantly, you are dead, its just free space for Deathslinger. Nothing to argue about.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1633646#Comment_1633646

So are killers when they realise they are getting crushed. Those arguments are just silly tbh.

A lot of killers are bad too. But at low levels of the game, when both sides suck, killers will win. At high levels when both are good, survivors are unstoppable.

I don’t know what to say about the wiggle thing except that you clearly don’t play him or understand how he works.

  • @xEa said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1632896#Comment_1632896

Is that so? Then why exactly do killer have 70-80% winrate again? You say everyting like its a fact, but obviously, it is not like that.

You only guess? You know what a good Deathslinger would do against someone who is wiggeling all the time? He walks up to him and kills him. Thank me later for that pro tip.

Kill rates are so high because most survivors are terrible at the game. I can pretty regularly 4K even with killers that i’m not good with.

As for wiggling, sure, DS will catch if they are close, but in many situations, they can still be safe.

  • @xEa said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1630571#Comment_1630571

I never said they should be invincible, but i said there has to be relative safty for survivors (by the way same that there has to be everywhere else a secure hit). I explained how and why it is important, that you cant understand it only shows your lack of understanding of the actual design of the game. There is and should not be any room for discussion here, because changing that monumental factor would simply kill the game. It is not me beeing biased, it is a fact you are not able to realise that because you only hear "safety" and you dont understand what i mean with that. You just get angry over something that is crucial for the game because you draw the wrong conclusions.

Why is wiggling no counterplay? Because it does nothing. From a balance standpoint, your skill as Deathslinger and the skill as survivor should be irrelevant. Someone missing a shot because the survivor is not running in a straight line has nothing to do with ballancing the killer neither has it anything to do with counterplay. It is like saying "hey the nurse is fine because there are many shity nurse players". If i play against a perfect Deathslinger and i run away and wiggle, he still gets 100% hit.

When your shots are on point you sill sometimes loose games? Of course you do because Deathslinger is not strong outside a chase. I never said he is op, but again, you draw the wrong conclusions.

Killers should have the advantage in a chase? If you read carefully what i actually wrote, you would not doubt that they have..

Oh I read carefully. The fact is that most killers don’t have an advantage in chase because there are too many safe tiles.

I don’t care how good you are with DS, you can’t do anything except guess which way they will wiggle. Unless there is someone who can move the spear mid shot, it’s not happening lol.

Well.. thats a good question and i think you are not totally wrong with your assumption but also not right :D. Lets talk about counterplay for a second. This might read a bit complicated, so better read carefully :P

Lets use for example a loop with a pallet. When the survivor manages to reach the pallet, he is temporary safe - he achieved his safty. The killer failed to catch him before he can reach the loop. But the killer had a fair chance to get the survivor before the loop.

So now lets say the surviivor managed to reach his safe place, most killer can challange this safty i talk about. Hillbilly, Huntress, Demogorgon, Blght, Trapper, etc.. all have that in some form. But against all those killers, the survivor has some sort of play and a choice when he is at his safe spot. It is usually in the survivors hand if he gets caught by a billy when he stays at his SAFE spot (the pallet, the loop).

So far, the ballance is fine. The killer had the chance to get the survivor before he reaches the safe spot without any chance of the survivor to defend himself. And then he had the chance that the survivor does a mistake when he is at his safe spot.

Now, lets assume this is not the case. Lets talk about when there is no real safe spot for survivor. Nurse and Spirit dont have any advantage before you reach the safe spot as survivor, but they have full control when the survivor is at his safe place.

What Nurse makes her broken at a "safe place", makes Deathslinger broken when not beeing at a pallet. He can zone the survivor from his needed safe Haven.

Pyramid Head has the same as Deathslinger more or less, he makes everything unsafe. Running to the loop is unsafe, beeing at the loop is unsafe, droping the pallet is double unsafe.

Both PH and Deathslinger have the ability to simply deny the safe spot at all. They have free zone potential with faking the ability during chase. The notorious "get hit or get hit" situation with both of those killers when running to the safe spot make them so unfun to play against.

The fact that you think survivors should just be invincible at “safe spots” and that they should be able to dictate mindgames shows your bias. THAT is not actually having counterplay.

also about DS: how is wiggling not counterplay? He has to predict where the survivor will wiggle because even though the spear is fast, it has travel time. That is a mindgame in itself

DS is my alt, and I can tell you that even when my shots are on point, I lose far more games with him than Nurse. He has no map control. ALL killers should be able to down fast because this is a 4v1 game; killers should have an advantage in chase.

If they balanced around top players Tekken 7 and SFV would absolutely not be in the state they are in.

Well most people hate the game they play, especially in fighting games. But that’s another issue lol.

Im sorry but not even fighting games or RTS, probably the two most intense, high skill genres out there balance around the top 1%.

I was a professional fighting game player, and they 100% do balance around top players. If they didn’t, there probably wouldn’t ever be another projectile in a fighting game ever lol.

No, but seriously. There is a very small chance to get those Survivors in casual Matches, so it's not really realistic to say that Survivors are op if they are so rare in casual Games.

Good survivors being rare doesn’t make them less Op. Every game is balanced around the best players, but for some reason, people think DBD is the special case that should be balanced around people who don’t know how to play the game.

We really haven't reached the stage yet where we can say wether it's worth the effort or not

Can we give people the time to become good with him before we rate him

Nurses weren't all that great either the first week she was out

The game isn't rocket science. When Nurse was new, the game was still relatively new, so it makes sense that it took time. Blight is just an M1 killer with added mobility.

  • Same here. I got temple of purgation 3 times in a row. Is there any truth to this @not_Queen @Almo ?

You can. But ignoring the other 99% of the game does not make sense at all.

Of course you can pick that one game that proves your point, but again - does not really make sense.

Balancing around the Top 1% would not work. Or would you also be fine to balance around the Top 1% Killers? Because balancing around Top 1% Survivors but Rank 10 Killers (yes, I have seen this on this forum) is not really a good idea.

Both sides should be balanced around top level play: no other game balances for people who aren’t good.

The idea that it would somehow ruin the game for non top people is silly if you think about it. Decisive strike and dead hard could be taken out of the game and it wouldn’t affect joe blow and his friends playing on the weekend. Their survival rate would probably be the same. These things are only broken in the hands of skilled players, who would be most affected by balance changes.

I have a similar problem but I dont think is the exact same as yours, I get huge FPS drops when I launch the game during the first trials when stuff activates for the first time, for example first time Bloodlust, Bloodlust2, Sloppy Butcher, EW2, EW3, first instadown, first BBQ aura reveal etc, both as Survivor and Killer (as survivor it actually helps me determine some perks, if I get FPS drops after first hook the Killer has BBQ or after reaching 70% on a gen he has Tinkerer) after that initial activation I dont get more drops from the same action, for example I get a drop when I reach EW3 first time but not the second, third etc.

    Game is poorly optimized.

The exact same thing happens to me. The first time the game does something, it stutters, but then is fine the next time.

she can stand still and fake her power. if the survivor stays, use power and hit them, if they run away, use power to catch up and hit them

trying to use the "guessing" argument in Spirit's favor is a new one, I'll give you that

The counter to that is to start walking away from the pallet or vault. If she stays still, she is phasing and you can go back to the structure, run at her, or run in a different direction, otherwise you will bait her to move, and you are still close enough to structure to loop her.

Spirit doesn't have to guess the side, it's very easy to hear. Survivors also make a sound when slow vaulting, even uninjured.

It's definitely not; I have a good headset and can't hear that. Even if you could, she has to use phase to go around the structure, which will usually deplete it and give the survivor a chance to create distance.

In your ideal scenario where every killer is as strong as Spirit or Nurse, could I pose a question to you?

What do you think the actual point of things like Pallets and windows would be? If every killer can simply ignore them 80% of the time, what's their purpose?

Pallets and windows are still very strong against Spirit. Even with stridor, she has to guess which side you will be on. Against Nurse, your best friend is structures and LOS breakers, which force her to have to make wild guesses.

BTW, I'm not saying all killers should literally have their power, but other killers should have ways to make running/looping less effective.
