Demos shred is not weak, beyond needing the rat liver base kit. The reason deathslinger is better than demo is because his power has 0 counterplay where demos is actually balanced. If you watch someone like bronx who has taken the time to put hours into demo and mastered his shred, he is a force to be reckoned with. Whereas deathslinger, you can play him and get more value than demo because he has no chase counterplay.

In fact, demo is one of my favorite killers to play against because he's fair. He gets hits when he deserves them. Deathslinger gets hits for no reason.

I’m sure he is your favorite to play against.... he is bad. I don’t care about streamers playing him. Most streamers can 4k consistently with any killer because the majority of survivors are bad at the game.

Exactly, that's the thing, Demogorgon is just a balanced version of Deathslinger and what Pyramid Head used to be. It's so weird that they couldn't have made different powers for Deathslinger considering they already nailed it the first time with Demo.

Nailed what? Demo is one of the worst killers in the game. You seriously want DS to be at that level?

back then before even the first chapter came out people found files about a new teacher killer. The killer was sadly scrapped and we got nurse. You guys ever think that that old scraped killer will be revived and come to dbd. I would love to see a teacher killer.

what do you guys think the power, perks, map, and even the survivor could be

As a current teacher, I hope so! XD

  • Has anyone noticed that people who use the word “spam” are typically really bad at games?

You actually name the reasons why people dislike Slinger:

"Doging his gun the best you can" - You cant. He is missing, you are not dodging. Leaving ALL in the hand of the killer.

"Throwing pallets early" - Extremly boring. The same reason why many people dislike Clown.

On top of that, he has a very small terror radius. This on a killer who can quick scope with a long range rifle in a game where the opposite site is not able to shoot back is annoying and not to mention totally out of place.

This post having so many up votes is sad for the community. His gun, while fast, is not instant. At a distance especially, DS has to predict the survivors movement because the spear has travel time (with or without quick draw). The closer you are, the harder it is to dodge, but every killer gets a hit at close range.

If you have nothing to actually go on/no actual worthwhile input, it's not a meaningful choice.

IE I literally don't even know if this spirit standing still is using her power or doing a "mindgame" and even if I did I still wouldn't have any clue where she is so i'll slowly crouch awa-oh she heard me breathing ouch, or.. just being against a very good nurse.

And god loops aren't meaningful. Never said they were. Map generation is trash and you could get a map with 20 pallets and 5 god loops or a Suffocation Pit with literally 7 pallets for the whole map.

There are mindgames against both killers though. If spirit is standing still, you should walk and then time a run. If she isn’t phasing , she is losing distance. If she is, then she has to guess where you’re running (sound is lousy at conveying distance) Nurse is literally run back, fake run back, break LOS, or run straight. These killers allow for much more gameplay on both sides as opposed to LOL slamming pallets.

I don't know why people keep translating "I have little to no meaningful choices to make against a good spirit/nurse" into "I just wanna bully spirit/nurse".

    ..well, actually, I do.

How is making a read and not getting hit not a meaningful choice?

On the flip side, how is there anything meaningful about imposing god loops and slamming pallets against m1 killers? There are more than enough pallets on a map for a survivor to play safe and allow the rest of the team to do gens.

Why are you moving the goalpost?

You were stating that survivor "demand" counterplay, and I stated that killers do the same, nothing was said about if the game was killer or survivor sided, at least follow the conversation if you're going to reply, thanks.

Most survivor complaints, outside of a few things like old legion and omega nurse, are based around the idea that survivors can’t impose their will on the killer (nurse/spirit have no counterplay). Those complaints aren’t even close to the actual problems like god loops and second, third, and fourth chances.

  • @Seanzu said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2135287#Comment_2135287

You can guess if they have dead hard or ds. guessing is counterplay like you said

Are you just not playing the game or following? Dead hard is best used for distance to make a pallet or vault, which there is absolutely nothing a killer can do to counter. Old ds you could hope they didn’t have it, but slugging denied you a hook state. It worked whether the survivor used it or not.

Your arguments are always based around a false assumption. Sure, some killer mains complain because they are less skilled than they think they are, but there is no larger agenda. The game is survivor sided and pretending that the answer to every argument is in the middle is not based in reality.

  • @Seanzu said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2133899#Comment_2133899

I don't see your point here? Just seems like bias.

Killers wanting dead hard needed because "it has no counterplay" killers want DS nerfed because it "has no counterplay".

Both sides do the same thing but I'm not blind enough to pretend they don't

Except that things like Dead hard and old ds actually had no counterplay. You can guess against spirit and nurse- no matter what you do against the survivor perks, they get an advantage.

  • @Seanzu said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2126156#Comment_2126156

It's far easier to blame something in game than admit you might not be very good at it, which is something a lot of people that play this game lack, the ability to admit they had a bad match.

This is especially true for survivor mains, who demand “counterplay”, which is code for a foolproof method to shut down a killer and control the match.

Nah. I don't even think the 'balance' issues that are tossed around here are all that acute. I've been playing for a couple years, maybe three? Multiple platforms. And honestly, I feel the game is better and more fun now than when I started playing. The devs make good changes, and then sometimes they make not so good changes. But I don't feel that any of those changes have tilted the game so far toward one end or the other that it makes the game unplayable or un-'winnable'(whatever that means)for the other 'side'.

If I have one complaint about 'casuals'(and I consider myself one of them, really)it's that they tend to come in cold and just do their thing, rather than spending a little time learning about the game, watching some vids and guides that will help them contribute better. It makes them a liability to the team, and they tend to get frustrated and DC and/or quit the game. Doesn't have to be a lot of time or effort invested, no need for anyone to become a tryhard, just some effort in learning the 'ins and outs', smart moves from dumb moves, how to determine your play style and what sorts of perk builds will complement that, etc.

BHVR needs to spend less time nerfing bad perks and more time developing a tutorial that TEACHES people how to play the game. They could definitely create a tutorial that shows survivors and killers how to run loops and use pallets. This game doesn’t teach; it requires you to bang your head against a wall for hours before you know what you’re doing.

  • @Seraphor said:

Yes, it's the 90% of casual players who are playing a game they paid for to have fun that are ruining the game. Not the 5% of sweaty competitive tryhards.

It’s so embarrassing that this post has that many likes. ALL games operate because of casuals, yet they are still balanced for competitive play.

I have been playing DBD for a few years now, and my Killer Rank has been floating around Rank 6 recently. I have been slowly making my way through each Killer, with the intent to get them all to Prestige 3 Level 50. This had been going smoothly... until I came to Deathslinger. I am struggling to do any better than a 1-2 kill game. Does anyone have some general advice, tips, builds, or tricks to help me improve my Slinger game?

DS is my secondary. Some big tips:

Learn when to shoot and when not to shoot. Pretend like you are going to shoot and then keep walking. This will often make the survivor swerve to try and make you miss, which will cause them to lose distance/miss a structure and set up an easy m1 or shot. You also don’t want to shoot when many things are in the way/ when the terrain changes while the survivor is injured since you won’t get a down.

Although quick scoping is good, don’t be afraid to hold the gun and line up a shot either. Ideally you will switch between aiming and quickscoping to keep survivors on their toes.

Play lame. This won’t be a popular piece of advice, but DS is a walking killer. You should choose an area to defend and try to hook survivors there. DS lame game is among the best.

    My build: ruin/undying/STBFL/whispers

whispers is a big help in the early and late game.

You mean like people playing spirit and freddy who are too lazy to learn killers that actually require some skill to reach red ranks? Let alone that Killers learn very early on that killing 1 survivor through facecamping will pretty much guarantee them the win, they dont need to learn ######### untill they start facing survivors who are good enough to punish a facecamping killer properly. Let alone that having solo survivors makes it even possible for killers to never truly get punished for facecamping the first survivor untill they reach red rank.

Killers being handed an advantage due to a lack of communications between solo survivors. Or is that suddenly not "too lazy to learn"?

Everything in this post is wrong. It’s not “lazy” to learn spirit and nurse. They have a significantly higher skill cap than most killers. Nurse especially is about 10 times harder than survivor gameplay. Furthermore, most killers in the game have an extremely low skill ceiling. There is only so much an m1 killer like Pig or myers can do at loops because the survivors are in control of the mindgame most of the time. M1 killer gameplay is fundamentally broken and not worth attempting against good survivors.

  • @Predated said:

Which would be true, if the game was designed to be competitive, which it is not. The game is designed to be fun. Fun is chosen over balance.

I don’t find it fun for survivors to be handed an advantage because they are too lazy to learn.

Okay so if survivors are bad at the game, why are you using the very few good survivors as your reason as to why Demo is an overall bad killer? Shouldn't you be going off the overwhelming average of matches you get, which are bad survivors?

No- no video game community bases character strength on low levels of play. To give an example: a new player would have no idea how demo’s power works. Therefore it’s pointless to judge demo based on that since the survivor doesn’t know the basics.

If you're not bringing the best addons and perks, sure, he is not viable against survivors who are bringing the best items and perks.

Tinkerer Ruin/BBQ Pop is enough on Freddy to slow down the game more than 90% of the other killers and his chase is in the top 5 killers in terms of strength. The reason Freddy is not viable against good survivors, is because everyone plays Freddy the lazy way. No one really presets traps, so they only rely on traps they set during chase. No one really teleports to gens to cut off survivor pathways, because they rather save their teleport to regress a gen with Ruin or Pop(which is a waste of his teleport).

I've never had issues facing good survivors. Heck, he's one of the killers I would grab if I found out I was facing tournament survivors and still get a 3k with(back when you could switch killers and if their old Ormond offering didnt reign supreme, otherwise it would be a 2k). Freddy is more than viable. Perhaps not against the top 10% of tournament players, but we're talking 0.01% players here that Freddy would not be viable against. Do you really want to balance killers around the 0.1% players who play tournaments?

DBD is not a tournament game. Balancing around tournaments does not make sense.

The game should be balanced around those who are best at it. Scrubs who don’t want to learn don’t have a valid opinion on balance.

  • @Predated said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2102587#Comment_2102587

    "he's not broken"

I mean, strongest gen defense basekit and one of the strongest anti-chase basekits, let alone base counter to BT and other terror radius related perks. Let alone addons that on top of that already powerful basekit slowing down the game.

Yes, compared to the current balance, that's broken.

All of that and he’s still not viable against good survivors.... yet he is being nerfed.

Most of the streamers I watch go against randoms. When they do go against good SWF teams even they struggle, and hard. Even people like True and Otz admit it’s not fun and just miserable to go against these kind of squads.

That’s just it- matches like that are in the minority if you watch the VOD. I’ve seen streamers like Tru and Umbra go for weeks without losing a killer match, while doing requests and killer rotations. Don’t get me wrong- I do think the game should be balanced around the best players. My point is that these “killer is good because streamer always wins....” arguments are bad because streamers win with literally any character they play (although Trickster is the one all of them struggle using.)

Name another killer that has a loop ending power, a teleport on a 14s cooldown and mild stealth that isn't Freddy. There's no way Demo is bad, and I have used him against good survivors and I usually win and do fine. Bronx wins almost every Demo game he plays, there's not much survivors can do when demo has all of his portals set up in good areas, his map pressure is too good for them to keep up. If you're trying to play him and loop like a standard M1 killer you're already using him wrong, same with if your portals are getting constantly cleansed.

Most streamers win 99% of matches because survivors are bad at the game. It doesn’t matter who the streamer uses.

  • @ALostPuppy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2097871#Comment_2097871

That is absolutely not the only redeemable factor about Demo's shred. His zoning is some of the best out of any killer, he's not hindered when feathering his shred he can do it whenever he wants with no cooldown. T-L's, shack and long walls are a death sentence. You can abuse the car collision to get completely unexpected free hits. Eating pallets is just one good thing about his shred. And keep in mind he's 115% and has a map-wide teleport ability on a 14 second cooldown on top of ambiguous TR music that is hard to listen for with monitor.

The fact that people think this killer is weak, even going as far to say he's the weakest, blows my mind.

If you think demo is strong, you don’t use him against good survivors. He is one of the worst in the game.

While true that doesn't really apply to public games. Doc has an unsuprisingly high kill rate in red ranks. Tiers don't really come into play too often. If they did there'd be more Nurse mains.

The OP asked why Doc isn’t considered good. You don’t judge a character’s strength on people not knowing how to play against him. What you said applies to pretty much every killer in the game: they all noob stomp.

  • @KrosseKrabbePizza said:

How can anyone say that the doctor is low tier?

    • He basically don´t need to search for survivor, just shock the area with the bigger shock therapy --> boom you found one. The optimal play is to shock right after you hook someone, most of the time someone is near
    • He also really don´t need to chase, just time the shocks at the right place --> boom the survivor can´t vault or drop a pallet.
    • He also slows down the game with the harder skillchecks plus tier 3 shock phase

So he is anti looping, anti hiding and anti gen rushing. Maybe i see it from the wrong side, but in my opinion he is the most complete killer.

Do you have any tipps to play against him? There must be a point i am missing, that he is ranked in low tier...

He is whatever for the same reason that only two killers are even remotely viable: he is an m1 killer. No matter how good you are, survivors can still impose god loops and hold W to waste a ton of time. He is good against bad survivors (which is true for most killers)

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Keys don't really end matches quickly, if all are alive all gens need to be done first for the hatch to spawn, if 1 died 4 gens need to be done first and so on.

    I personally just bring Franklins

I have been robbed by keys on numerous occasions. 3 survivors should not be escaping with one gen left. Franklin’s also doesn’t help because a smart group will pick it up once they realize what’s up, and then stash it so you can’t knock it out again.

To the OP: I fully support dodging key lobbies. The game isn’t worth playing.

  • All these people complaining over a killer who can’t beat good survivors.... this community in a nutshell.

Based on OP's post, they were playing purple/reds on both sides... so yeah, the stats here aren't reflecting low level players.

By low level, I mean people who aren’t good at the game. You can reach purple/red ranks while being bad.

Who talks about low level play ? We are talking red ranks here, means players with experience (they can be bad but they have hundred of hours on the game).

Experience isn’t equal to skill. I am talking about people who don’t know how to loop (new players, bad players)

  • @YourNightmare said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2033215#Comment_2033215

Ah ? Because you think that most killers are skilled ? It's exactly the same. The way you think :

    • killers win cause they have skills
    • survivors loose cause they are terrible

1st, those stats show the kill rate is insanely high.

2nd, official stats show exactly the same.

And skill repartition is following the gaussian model as in every other games, IQ, skills at your job and everywhere where humans is involved.

So there are as many bad survivors than killers (proportionally).

ye i know, you surely lack maths skills and psychology skills aswell...

Nah, I have a masters in education. I don’t lack any “psychology” skills.

There are plenty of bad killers as well. In my experience with asymmetrical games (Friday the 13th, dbd, evolve...) the killer or monster role usually wins at a low level of play. In DBD’s case, this makes total sense. New/bad survivors don’t know how to run structures, so all the killer has to do is follow (usually to a corner or the middle of nowhere) and hit for the down.

TLDR: bad killer + bad survivor = killer wins.

  • @YourNightmare said:

Waiting for the killer mains coming and telling the game is survivors sided :).

Honestly, more stats we have more we see that the game balance is totally off with all the buff killers got during the last years...

Lol..... if anything, these stats prove what skilled players say all the time: most survivors are absolutely terrible at the game.

the nurse pfp really screamed bias lol... thats why nurse does the best at the highest level of play right?

Nurse does the best at a high level because she allows the player to engage in actual gameplay. The survivor has to play a mutual mindgame. Other killers get enthralling “eat pallet and walk” gameplay that makes them unviable.

  • @Lil_Liaaaa said:

Before the 6000 hour nurse mains go bonkers let me preface, i UNDERSTAND, nurse is hard to play. She is the hardest killer to play in the game and has the highest skill floor and ceiling . But the idea of a mastered killer entirely dominating a game, i.e nurse mains at rank 1 having 100+ 4ks in a row because there just ISNT counterplay to her kit other than her own player being worse. Similar to spirit where the only counter is the killer making a mistake which is poor gameplay

Her difficulty has nothing to do with anything. But you are dead wrong about “not having counterplay”: a good player can make reads on her and win. Most people don’t bother to learn how to play against her since they are used to holding forward and slamming pallets.

  • @ArchFox said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2025759#Comment_2025759

I think "running forward needs to be balanced" is a bit much in all honesty. I don't have 4000 hours on the game like a lot of people do, but in my humble 400 hours of playtime I've never once thought "Damn, holding the forward button is overpowered", coming from someone who plays both sides equally.

Then, as someone with over 2k hours, that shows your lack of knowledge. It’s too effective for no effort and is another reason why only a few killers can compete.

  • @ArchFox said:

People calling holding W boring... I'm not really sure what else survs are supposed to do? Holding W is how you run away from killers. It's the designated "run away" button. If there are no pallets or windows, holding W is the only option survs have. Should they just stand still and let the killer down them to avoid being boring?

######### me, people really will whine about anything.

No one is telling you not to hold forward. It is being discussed because the devs need to balance it: holding forward should not give you as much as it does. The speed boost is one of numerous survivor mechanics (dead hard, decisive, borrowed) that rewards poor play.

  • What an embarrassing thread...LOL

  • @Yords said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2015667#Comment_2015667

I don't think you have even gone against a really good p head player. The amount of damage you can do is incredible when using his POTD attack.

Cages can give you a lot of potential, with ruin they can save you a generator because you can cage and then pressure survivors off of it. If you need a player out of the game you can tunnel (which is a strength) without the fear of BT or DS. With the use of infectious or even M&A with it, you can better tell when to use a cage. If you think a person will go for the save and you are close enough, then you can interrupt the save and maybe even go for a double down.

PH is not a pointless killer, he is very strong. How do you think Otzdarva won 50 times in a row with him?

The same way otz got to 50 wins with other bad killers- most of the survivors are terrible and don’t know how to play.

  • @Saitamfed said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2015667#Comment_2015667

But cages are there to save you time, not to avoid survivors being rescued. Caging someone you avoid DS/BT, you save the amount of time to go to a hook, you avoid a flashlight/pallet save, you avoid a survivor going to sabo the nearest hook.

You can avoid a pallet/flashlight save with any killer. That shouldn’t be a main talking point of a killer’s power lol

  • @Yords said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2014781#Comment_2014781

On console, maybe. On PC tho? He is an absolute champ if you know how to play him. He is better than huntress or deathslinger because you can use his ability at more loops where slinger and huntress would need LOS to shoot survivors. His range addons only make him better.

He also has his cages and final judgment abilities. The cages can be used to immediately gain pressure on survivors on top of being able to tunnel a caged survivor if they go for an unsafe unhook. The final judgement is also used to just save time.

His power is too easy to dodge. You might as well just play nurse.

Cages really don’t give you much. You can’t see where they are put and many times you actually just send them near a teammate. PH is a pointless killer.

  • @Yords said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2014396#Comment_2014396

A survivor like that would only hurt their own team in the end tho. This would only work against a killer who doesn't really know what they are doing as well. Survivors definitely take skill to play.

And yes, looping effectively can be hard for newer survivor players.

Nope. If a survivor team is efficient on gens, you can afford to be wasteful with pallets. The only “skill” to playing survivor is memorizing loops. It’s not hard, just tedious.

  • Someone could post a video of gens being done in two minutes and survivor mains would still downplay/try to talk around it. The fact is that it shouldn’t be possible for gens to go this fast, regardless of the build or circumstances.

I see so many people claiming that Billy was nerfed to oblivion and that hes un playable or not viable anymore.

Anyone who says this is either just jumping on a bandwagon, or you were never a good billly player to begin with.

The only major change that actually affects anyone whos good with him is the change to addons. The "overheat" is negligible for anyone who could even be close to being considered a good billy. "But but but.. I cant just facecamp and rev my chainsaw anymore!!!" Right. Doing so was stupid and nothing about it made you a good player. The heat goes down fast enough without addons that its literally ignorable, unless you are chainsawing across the map 4 times before finding anyone, which should never happen except aagainst maybe the scaredest blendettes in existence, and at that point the games an easy win anyway.

"But but but.. my instasaws!?!?!?!?" Again, not necessary in the slightest and they were an absolute crutch for mediocre billy players. Thats it. Nothing more.

"But but but.. I cant curve!!!!" Youre just bad at curving then. Nothing about curving has changed other than the speed addons being slightly more difficult to use, but again, they are not needed and any good billy can land curves without any addons. Yes, they helped. But much like instas, they were a crutch.

"But but but... he roars and its stupid!" Oh. My. #########. God. Damn. Get over yourself. You can dislike the roar, thats fair, but it in no way affects his gameplay. Not in any way at all.

"But but but.. animations!" Oh no. He looks different when performing x,y,z action. Again, no change to gameplay mechanics.

In short, you can still fake rev at pallet loops. You can still curve. Instas were never needed and have always been a crutch. The overheat is laughable to anyone with any competence.

Billy is fine. Hes not gutted. Hes still A tier easily. If you cant play him, thats fine, but it doesnt mean hes bad in any way, shape, or form.

Edit.. "I never see billy so he must be trash now" or something similar.. ok.. how often do yall see nurse? Blight? Both are considered very strong yet rarely played. Just because they arent common doesnt mean theyre bad.

Hop off the bandwagon and dump out your koolaid please. Open your eyes.

This post is wrong on multiple levels.

Number one, if he was strong, more people would use him. We see a ton of Spirits and freddys because they are strong. Players use the best characters

number 2, Billy is way too high of a skill curve for way too little reward. If you are going to dump that kind of time into killer, you are much better off playing Nurse since she has much more potential. Billy is a waste of time.

    NURSE

    • Increase nurses movement speed from 3.85 m/s to 4.4 m/s
    • Nurse only has 1 blink, equivalent to her chain blink
    • Nurses fatigue from 2 seconds to 1.5 seconds
    • A blink takes 1.5 seconds from 2 seconds to fully charge

Nurse will still be the hardest killer to play, even harden now cause she only now has 1 blink. I think this change would be fun, she now has a little pressure when looping, she will still be really strong.

    Absolutely not.

  • At base, both are m1 killers. They have to just take strong loops and survivors holding forward. Oni especially has to do a ton of work/put in time to get his power. Using time= not viable. The best killers (nurse and spirit) waste no time and can be aggressive immediately.

Most of the scenarios you don't really have to tunnel someone out. I think that's too desperate and unfun for everyone. I think slugging is a better option, especially if you already have someone on hook. On the other hand, I also don't think the game is supposed to be a free 4k every game. So gen speed shouldn't be balanced in a way survivors will lose no matter what, considering most are not even really good at chases.

If the survivors are bad at chases, they should lose the match. It’s simple.

Then you were ######### with Billy prior to the nerf. Good Billies see no difference.

Which Billies are you talking about? I have seen Billy once in probably 100 matches. I see Nurse more often. Billy is worthless.
