A read is a guess. It’s an educated one, based off of player tendencies and the toolset applicable to the situation, but still a guess.

It's not though. A guess implies you have absolutely 0 information and are just picking something at random. A read is a prediction based on probability (eg. can she make it to this side of the window if I go this way) or player behavior (eg. she tends to do X, so I will play as if she is going to do X again). It's not guessing.

If you look at the situation as a guess you are going to lose pretty consistently. If you actually look at the realistic options SHE has then you can consistently avoid her. I've done it. I've had good survivors do it to me (again Spirit main that uses Stridor at rank 1). It can be done.

Breaking LOS means absolutely nothing if you're injured. If you're running to a pallet and you do Tru3's patented counter play, you're not doing anything but guessing. You have 0 information as to what and where she is until the last second, and by the time you hear her footsteps, you're likely dead.

There is counter play when uninjured, but not when you are injured.

She'd be much better if she even moved grass or her footsteps were slightly louder because then, she'd actually give the survivor some information. In return, give her a much shorter cooldown so she can use her power more often. She'd still be a good killer, surely not as powerful as the current variant, but actually somewhat fun to play against because you don't feel like you're playing a single player game. And hey, if she's too weak, buff other aspects to her power to keep her a strong killer.

The footsteps are loud enough. I think it's fine and should stay as a feature because you can only hear them if she is right next to you, which is your cue to do some 360 janky stuff to dodge the hit or maybe drop a pallet or something.

As far as moving grass... no. Corn maps would just be awful for her (and they already are sort of because it's corn).

Just leave the footsteps you don't need anything else.

Also yes, you can avoid her if you are injured. You need to use sounds to lose her. Running gens, sometimes those fire cans. Again not easy but can be done.

  • The only changes I would like to see for Legion are giving some base effect for a Frenzy hit on a survivor with Deep Wounds (Hindered for 20 seconds? repair debuff for 30 seconds? IDK), and a rework of Frank's Mixtape, Staby Wounds Study, and Fuming Mixtape.

    Was this Myers tier 1?

Yes but it doesn't matter because he's just given Undetectable now. I know OOO/Alert/etc aren't supposed to work but they said Kindred is supposed to trump Undetectable. Happened against a Ghostface too.

So either I misheard the devs or this is a bug.

No killer can apply the kind pressure you're asking for, unless they run meta perks or play as top tier killers. With NOED, it's easier to go for whatever build you want without basically throwing away the game before it starts. Your stereotype of NOED users isn't entirety true.

No it's entirely true. Every single game I've had against a NOED killer in the past 6 months has been a bad killer that chases one person all game (not tunneling just refusing to give up a chase).

And yes killers can apply pressure. It's called spreading the damage. Hit and run. Injure survivors can catch them out of position. I do it. I see good killers do it. If you really think you can't apply pressure to the entire group then you must not be a very good killer.

  • It's a crutch perk. I rarely, if ever, see a good killer using it. It's always the bad killers that use NOED. The ones that chase a single person all game and then cry about how gens get done too fast when in reality they applied exactly 0 pressure to the other survivors. It's hard to respect any killer that runs NOED for this reason. The only time I personally ever use it is for end game builds, and even then it's very rare that I do.

"play janky and make good reads to make her waste her power."

    "Make good reads"

    "IT ISN'T A GUESSING GAME"

    Done with you lmao.

I assume you think a read is a guess. It's not.

  • I'll say no thanks.

Beetlejuice isn't really a killer. He is a goof, even though he's quite malicious. Not a very scary thing to put in a horror game. And no I don't consider the film to be "horror", it's more of a comedy. Any "horror" aspect comes from the fact it's a Tim Burton film (as his style if very horror-esque).

  • While I don't think we need to slow down on the DLC releases, we DO need a massive health update to the game. Some of this stuff needs to be way higher priority.

    @LOA said:

If it's a Money thing because they can't pay enough coders to find the bugs, they should put out another epic cosmetic pack like the Charity Case pack. Nothing wrong with that charity being money that will be promised to be used on their bug issue by highering more peeps or paying their coders overtime. People who really love this game, which is a ton, would most likely drop 5 or 10 bucks for a nice big influx of cosmetics.

It's not a money thing, it's a time thing. Say you have 10 programmers. They work 40 hour weeks, maybe 50 if it's a crunch. That means you have 400-500 man hours to do whatever needs doing.

If fixing a single bug takes 10 hours, that's literally one person entire work day. That means in 1 week you could potentially fix 50 bugs. But it's not really that simple. First you have to consider that some of those hours will need to be dedicated to new features/content. Second, you have to assume that some bugs may take much MUCH more time to fix. Third, you have to make room for testing and Q&A to ensure that whatever you changed doesn't make new bugs. And fourth, there are way way more than 50 bugs in the game. That means you have to prioritize the important ones, which means lesser bugs go one not being fixed. As as new content is released, or updates made, new bugs WILL pop up and some will out-prioritize the lesser bugs.

So at the end of the day it's not "we need more money to fix this stuff" it's "we need more time to fix this stuff". Although technically you can make more time by hiring more staff, but there is a limit. Eventually the ROI will be too low such that even adding more programmers won't fix bugs any faster.

Are we talking in rank 1?

Cause any good spirit will not let you waste her power.

And im leaving this discussion tbh, cause you're just bringing things from your POV and not talking in general.

I guess you play in console, where all killers are trash? dont you? (And yes, I played at ps4 during 1 year and ALL KILLERS at rank 1 play like rank 10 from pc.)

"All killers on console are trash" ... You realize that on Xbox at red ranks, literally 90% of games are against SWF right? Pretty much EVERY game. And with poor frame rate and control stick restrictions, any killer that can consistently win is going to be a very good killer. And yes those killers exist, I play with/against them regularly.

Also the fact you say "any good spirit will not let you waste her power" shows you don't care to actually learn how to counter play her. You'd rather just nerf her into the ground. She's not supposed to let you do anything, you have to play janky and make good reads to make her waste her power.

Same as the other guy. Stick your head in the sand and cry "no counter play" instead of improving as a player.

Ignoring most of the argument and just bringing 2..

    I see, I see...

Because your arguments are weak. I'm being generous to even address those two.

  • Former Huntress main...

Nurse's Calling, BBQ & Chilli, Whispers, Ruin.

This is basically the only viable build at red ranks. You can try other stuff but at the end of the day this is the only meta build. Although I personally prefer to use Iron Maiden instead of Nurse's Calling for faster reloads, but I do so knowing that I'm going to have a harder time tracking survivors.

For add-ons, hafts all the way 100%. Wind-up add-ons are nice and all but if you use them it messes with your muscle memory and after a while you won't be able to play without them. Better to just stick to the base wind-up. Hafts decrease the cooldown which means you can throw hatchets at a faster rate or M1 sooner. I'd also recommend exhaust add-ons, just the brown one will do. You want this to stop Dead Hards mostly, but it also helps against Lithe/Balanced/Head On. After that are extra hatchets, always good to have more hatchets. Iri Head is super strong I don't recommend playing with them for the same reason as wind-up add-ons, as you won't ever actually improve as a Huntress.

Some Huntress players use Shadowborn, but I don't like it because it messes with your aim. This is one of those perks you either use it or you don't. You can't really swap it in and out because of how much it will screw up your aim.

    So:

You need to main spirit to know if she's phasing walking etc..

That's all what I understand from what you aid.

"Really all you need to do is avoid getting hit"

Omg... I just can't discuss with that.

All what you listed are just braindead things that braindead survivors good, any spirit with 2 brain cells will not fall for this.

You don't need to main her, but if you understand what her experience is then it's going to be easier to outplay her.

"Really all you need to do is avoid getting hit"

No you need to avoid getting hit OUT OF PHASE WALK. That means you have to make her waste her power and not be right next to her when she exits phase walk. Do this and it's a 110 chase. Do it consistently and you win because you wasted her time or potentially escaped the chase.

Really this stuff is not hard to do. You make it seem like you just run in a straight line in full view of the husk and expect her to not catch you.

  • @laurelstroodle said:

"Survivors should not be able to know if spirit is phasing"

    -Shards rarely hide/glow

    -Spirit hair rarely bug

    -Spirit idle animation rarely resets.

    "Except it's not a guess"

    Yeah, sure bud.

Any spirit player that has a brain will know how to fast, when to end the phasing etc...

"And what she can see while phasing"

    Yeah, sure, sure.. awesome argument.

"Also stop bringing up the stand still trick. It is easy AF to beat"

    Too much words, less proofs..

Yeah sure "Break LOS" Like, every spirit player has tracking perk and stridor "break LOS"

And if the spirit follows the scratch marks/blood/grass etc..

She will end up in 5/8 meters, basically you're dead.

Again you clearly do not know what you are talking about.

If you break LOS of the husk then she is FORCED to either phase walk or chase after you. If she was already phase walking, and you walked away, even for just a little bit, that can be enough to make her lose you so you can gain distance. All you need is to get her to waste phase walk. That's it. Once you do that you can run and do whatever for 10-15 seconds.

    "Too much words, less proofs.."

I mean I'm not the one having trouble playing around one of the most obvious tricks in the game.

The power provides other benefits that don't rely on the survivor's lack of knowledge of when she is phasing though.

Moreover, if she is running perks such as Stridor or certain add-ons, then she is pretty much guaranteed to locate survivors while actually phase walking regardless of if survivors know she is phase walking. You're acting as if she loses her entire ability if survivors know she is phasing which simply isn't true at all.

Moreover, I can't take your point seriously when you're writing in font size 32 so I'm ending this discussion here.

I main Spirit and use Stridor all the time. Rank 1 for over a year. I'm well aware of what she can hear/see in phase walk.

The thing is if you KNOW when she is phase walking you know when to stop running and be quiet. Or you know when to vault certain windows that she can't possibly go around to cut you off. You know when to run and when to hide. And yes you can avoid Stridor, it's not easy but it can be done. Really all you need to do is avoid getting hit out of phase walk. If you can do this consistently you win against Spirit because then it's just a 110 chase.

Like if I know she is phasing and I know the distance she can potentially travel then I know to throw down the pallet to avoid getting hit. Again try it. Make a custom game. Pick Spirit. Tell your friend when you are phase walking. Then do it again and don't tell them. You will see a big difference in your friend's ability to outplay you (assuming they are a good survivor to begin with).

PS. Ignoring the discussion because I write something that should be common knowledge in big font is the equivalent of sticking your head in the sand and pretending not to know the truth. You are never going to get better against Spirit by just complaining about her.

  • 1) 2 survivors are not going to finish 5 gens unless the killer lets them. One of them is going to die 100%.

    2) If you take away hatch, have fun spending 20 minutes looking for an immersed survivor. That's really the entire point of hatch, to provide a resolution to the game.

"I have to take risks sometimes to avoid her"

Translation: You need to adapt to the guessing game, if the spirit catch you you're a noob and got outplayed. You need to take risks (jumping pallets, windows etc..) and if you failed is all you're fault and you got outplayed by the spirit, git gud.

The fact you call it a guessing game just shows you don't know what you are talking about.

It's a probability calculation. There is a HUGE difference.

  • @laurelstroodle said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/962735#Comment_962735

Who jumps the pallet in the spirit face in first place?

Then never say spirit is balance, cause she isn't.

If we want to consider a spirit a mindgame killer both sides should be 50/50.

Right now it is a guess game.

And why not? this would fix the standing still spirit (100% skill based btw), spirit doesn't rely on if survivors know if she's phasing or not.

All her power is based on tracking the survivor, so this would be a good nerf imo.

Except it's not a guess. There are only so many things she can do at any given loop. If you know how fast she moves while phasing, how long the phase can last, and what she can hear/see while phasing you can avoid her pretty consistently.

Also stop bringing up the stand still trick. It is easy AF to beat. The fact you complain about it shows how little you really care to learn about Spirit counter play. Break LOS, do something janky, chances are she will end phase walk not near you which means a 110 chase for 10-15 seconds.

And yea, people still vault the pallet. They do it to me all the time. Fact is majority of survivors go full potato against Spirit.

Anyways, that doesn't mean that could be used as a counter, a counter is something that works 100% of the time, this RARELY works, and some spirit outfits can kill one of them (school girl spirit hides shards)

Spirit hair bug is like extremely impossible to get, I have 2k hours and I have never seen this bug in my entire DBD history.

Spirit animation reset is weird as well, I have only experience this 10 times (or 15 idk but it is weird) so this can't be used as a arugment

"A counter is something that works 100% of the time."

Translation: I would like to be able to always outplay a Spirit and it's unfair that I have to take risks sometimes to avoid her.

  • @laurelstroodle said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/962614#Comment_962614

Well, find another way to balance spirit, cause the core issue is to dont know if she's phase walking

which adds the awesome mindgame "standing still"

If they dont want to add this then nerf her in another way, cause spirit's main issue are not addresed.

Right now it is still a coinflip, and if she the spirit has stridor basically you're #########

No you don't need to tell survivors when she is phasing. The stand still trick is easy to beat. Stop trying to guess whether she is phasing or not and just assume she is both phasing and standing still. You will see counter play options open up and you won't fall for it. I haven't fallen for the stand still trick in a long long time. Protip: stop vaulting the pallet into her face. That's a good start.

Putting your text as a title doesn't make your point any more valid.

If you'd like to explain why you're not supposed to know when she's phase walking, I'd appreciate it. Otherwise, I'm completely ignoring this response.

The Spirit's power doesn't entirely depend on the survivor's ignorance to her phase walking. It provides other benefits too, in terms of map pressure and increased speed.

It does because that is the entire point of her power. Why else would the devs make it look like she is just idle while she is phasing? Why else would the husk emit a terror radius that overrides the woosh? It's there so you can't ever be sure when she is phasing.

Any other benefits you can bring up are moot if you know every single time she is phase walking. Try it. Start a custom game, pick Spirit, tell your friend every time you are phase walking. You'll see how bad she would be.

    So I repeat...

STOP ASKING FOR A SIGN SHE IS PHASE WALKING. YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO KNOW.
  • If you ask me it's a stupid achievement that should never have been put in the game.

  • @OnryosTapeRentals said:

They didn't do anything to address what people actually complained about. The issue with her is that there is no way to tell if she is phase-walking or not.

Removing survivor collisions was not something I've ever seen requested and in the matches I've played against her recently, seems to have little effect on a skilled Spirit.

YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO KNOW WHEN SHE IS PHASE WALKING. THAT IS THE ENTIRE POINT OF HER POWER. STOP ASKING.
  • The thing is, if Plague brings an apple she can get Corrupt Purge at any time. This puts her way above Legion in terms of lethality. And no, there is no comparable Legion add-on.

This besides the fact there are other ways to force survivors to cleanse. Thana in particular is very effective at this.

Also Plague doesn't need to be right on top of you to get you sick where Legion needs to be on top of you for a Frenzy hit. Heck, Plague doesn't even need to see you at all if you interact with an infected object or survivor you will get sick.

  • Tracking perks are essential on Nurse because she is so slow it makes it easy to hide from her. BBQ, Nurse's, Whispers, I'm All Ears, Infectious, Discordance, etc. Pretty much any tracking perk that isn't Spies is great for her.

Shadowborn is very good for her. It helps you track during fatigue and in corn much easier. Also a good tracking perk. Most people are split on this, either you use it or you don't. I personally love using it.

After that, the standard game slowing perks are fine. Ruin, Pop, Sloppy, Thana, Corrupt, etc.

The only perks you really shouldn't care for as Nurse are chase perks. Brutal, Spirit Fury/Enduring, Bambo, STBFL, etc. You don't need them and they don't help either. Only time you would want to use these is if you use the add-ons that change her base movement speed because they remove blinks. They make her more of a "normal" killer.

For add-ons, cooldown rate are her bread and butter, but she has other options. Fatigue add-ons are good too, but not as good as cooldown. Spoon/Tooth are my personal favorites. Spoon is great for corn maps or maps where you need a bit of extra tracking (also counters Iron Will), and Tooth is good if you want to replace Nurse's with another perk. After that range add-ons are actually really good. People say they are bad but the reality is you can blink halfway across the map with just 1 blink. And because the charge times are the same you can play her normally in a chase and just use the range to apply map pressure. The purple add-on that gives Undetectable is a lot of fun and very effective. After that her add-ons are meh. Mostly for specific types of builds or tactics, not great for everyday use.

  • I've been playing Legion lately and I personally think they are fine how they are.

The only thing I think they need is some sort of baseline effect to hitting a survivor with Frenzy that already has Deep Wounds (eg. repair debuff similar to Begrimed add-ons), and a rework of Frank's Mixtape, Stab Wounds Study, and Fuming Mixtape.

    1. The "critical path" should be void of character or perk specific challenges. You should also be able to do it completely as survivor or killer (though I think this is the case anyway).
    2. Less challenges that require you to throw the game. Basement challenges are awful. Survivor challenges that require you to stun the killer with pallets are awful. Just stop with this BS.
    3. Turning off auto-play in the Archives should permanently disable it. IDK if it's a bug but it's always set to "on" anytime I enter the Archives.
    4. I would rather more difficult challenges you could get across multiple games than ANY of the Master challenges.

That's about all I can think of right now.

  • Many Unreal Engine games have problems with "hitboxes" and that's due to the way the engine handles collisions. It's not very good to say the least.

So by making it a simple box they are actually making collision more consistent, especially across multiple different survivors.

If they did collision the way most UE games did then some survivors would have a clear advantage over others and the "hitboxes" would indeed be much worse.

As bad as it is, it's better than the alternatives.

  • Sure, but you won't get better at the game if you play EZ mode.

  • I play both on Xbox and I find Nurse more difficult. Huntress you can at least chase someone down if you need to. Nurse you HAVE TO BLINK or you can never really catch a survivor.

The two biggest mistakes I see Huntress players make are

    1) Throwing too soon. You should really hold the hatchet until you have a clean shot.

    2) Trying to use hatchets around certain loops where the survivor just keeps running. Some loops you just have to brute force like any killer, but since you are 110 you need to really do the loop perfect. If you try to throw a hatchet the survivor just runs through the pallet and you can't ever catch them.

  • I bought the Rift once I got far enough for all the Nurse cosmetics and to get back 500 auric cells. This way I felt like I was just paying 500 auric cells for an outfit. Then I ended up completing the Rift so I basically got it for free.

For the next one I will probably do something similar. Wait until I unlock what I want then buy it. If there is nothing I want I probably won't buy it.

I will say I think they need to put more stuff in the free track. Even if it's something like bonus BP or shards that would be fine.

  • If you purposely took a hit sooner you would have lived though.

  • You just die.

  • Have you used them or had them use on you? Prolly not.

They are still very strong. Without Spine Chill you really have no way to know if she is coming for you or not. It's the same with Legion's Iri Button or Doc's fake heartbeat. Spine Chill tells you when it's fake.

This besides being an absolute hard counter to stealth killers. Like yea you can play on edge all the time and move if you hear the slightest thing but with Spine Chill you just wait for it to light up before you leave. You don't need to really even look around. It shuts down these killers so hard. Anything Oblivious/Undetectable is worthless against Spine Chill.

Plus it tells you what has the killer's attention. If you hear a heartbeat on a gen, but Spine Chill only flickers then killer is nearby but not focused on your gen. If it lights up then they are coming to your gen. If you are healing behind a wall and it lights up, killer has Nurse's. Knowing what the killer is focused on is a big deal.

Wraith needs to uncloack, wraith isn't 100% invisible.

And a better counter to stealth killers is:

    Sprint Burst.

Everyone is now using sprint burst + vigil to 99'ing it, cause it is really strong, and you can sit in a gen without any problem cause you have a sprint..

Way better than spine chill, more eficient, no situational.

    Bashes Spine Chill.

    Claims Vigil is good.

    Untitled Image

  • Shelter Woods is probably the best.

    • If you have Agi/IG you can get them to basement from almost anywhere.
    • If you are Trapper/Huntress/Bubba you can protect the basement really hard.
    • This map sucks for survivors in general, fewest strong pallets.

So just offer Macmil bones until you get it. All the maps are pretty good for basement builds. Ironworks is probably the worst but it could be done.

Pick Demo with Agi, Iron Grasp, Territorial, and MYC. Get someone in basement and place a portal at the top of the steps. When Territorial procs, place a portal and wait for MYC to hit before teleporting. That's probably the best way to do it.

  • Tremors and Pop are good.

Devour is fun but eventually it will become less and less effective as you get better survivors. Eventually you will need to use a different perk. Most likely you will want to start using Ruin.

NOED is a bit of a crutch. If you play with it all the time you won't improve as killer. I'd recommend swapping this for something else to slow the game. Thana. Sloppy. Knockout. Those can help slow down the game.

  • I'd say Pop counters BNP, since if he uses Pop it wastes the BNP and not really the other way around.

I guess if you wait to use the BNP it can help but I find it better just to rush the best gen on the map right at the start of the game. The gen that you NEED to do.

The best counters to Pop is to commit to gens and not tap them if it's been kicked.

  • Just sounds like you need to be more punishing of their shenanigans. You actually don't always need to tunnel/camp at red ranks against SWF, you want to spread the damage and not be predictable. If you take a chase you lose so just go for hit and run.

  • To be fair, they did rework Badham with Freddy rework too.

That said I would rather see Haddonfield rework.

She can't lunge with her speedboost when she comes out of phasewalk right now, and her phasewalk sound effect plays when you're inside her terror radius.

    prity boogy

They fixed this for Spirit on Xbox. But I think most people don't realize and are waiting for the next patch.

it works like that?thought it was just additive :/ guess ur right then

Buffs are additive. Debuffs are multiplicative.

If you have say Resil and Botany and 2 stacks of Thana and 3 stacks of Dying Light you heal at [(1+0.09+0.33) * (1-0.08) * (1-0.09)] or 1.19 c/s. That's a 13.5 second heal on another survivor (16/1.19).

  • You need to find charges per second (c/s). Normal is 1 c/s. Resil adds 0.09 c/s. Thana 2 stacks remove 0.08 c/s. You then multiply those numbers for the c/s.

    (1+0.09) * (1-0.08) = 1.09 * 0.92 = 1.003 c/s

    It's basically 1 c/s so the bar doesn't change.

  • Hit and run.

    Sloppy + Thana.

On PC, you can hit players with your hatchets reliably at a further distance than on console, due to artificial sensitivity and pixel skipping. This is a fact, I can't help that you know nothing about how a mouse or a controller actually works.

You know you're supposed to aim with both sticks right? Move your crosshair and position yourself for a shot. I feel like m/kb users always overlook this.

    Huntress can snipe on console.
