New ruin won't be used anymore. It doesn't do it's job of slowing down gens progression at all so what's the point of it? Even flippin Lullaby will do better job.
-
So ruin 3 makes gens regress at half the speed survivors can progress them and make no change to survivors ability to finish them quickly.
It's essentially useless perk at the job it was good for which is wasting survivors time looking for it and slowing down survivors trying to work on gens.
-
It should also work together with Head on for that matter so you can kobe in killer's face, stun him, get armor and still be able to escape.
-
Legion is similar to Plague in power rating. He's power isn't exactly useless as it CAN give you free injury on survivors which then become reluctant to heal.
You may also get a chance to find survivors or catch up to them somehow but you cannot you his power to down people so once they are at the loop you are m1 killer with no power. Plague has the upside of actually keeping survivors in the forever injured state while nullifying the Iron will.
These people with thousands of hours are not playing him wrong necessarily but they rate him low based on his power usefullness in downing survivors. Every killer with a oneshot, nurse and spirit will do better then him which makes him low/medium tier killer. He doesn't have map pressure as applying a status effect that can be removed by holding a button for 10 seconds or ignored by running.
He's still better then doc and probably similar in tier to clown in good hands.
-
There is no effective strategy to counter genrush other then ending the chases instantly or hoping for survivors messup.
If killer actually gets more then 1 kill while tunnelling and hook camping it's the survivors throwing the game. Both are boring strategies for the other side.
-
I keep remembering that glorious vid from Marth.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hxkk5sH6zRI
All 4 survivors can do that at once. Not a genrush, nothing to see.
-
I can't hear the jingles half of the time due to sound bug. 1/10, F tier

Okay so I don't really use these forums that much, but here I've learned a lot:
- This community is very toxic and unprogressive. I fear that the devs are taking the game in this terrible direction because this horrible community is forcing them to and also because of the addition of console players, they have to balance the game for them too and balancing between PC and console has always been and issue, however especially in assymetrical MP games.
- About 99% believe that they are right in whatever they say instead of looking at facts and logic put forward towards them. Example is that someone called me bad at survivor so I uploaded a video proving that I am actually decent at survivor and people still want to claim that I'm bad when I'm clearly not.
- Keep in mind that I am on PC. This game, on PC, is extremely killer sided, and I can't say the same for console players since I know that aiming is a bit more challenging on console.
I have over 2k hours in this game, and I'm ranked very high on the leaderboard in killer related categories and BP earned. Therefore my skill level or experience is not even questionable at this point. My genuine concern is the health for this game and proper balance. This game has been going on a wayward path for a while now and I hate to see most of the OGs left because of it.
However seeing how toxic and less than intelligent people on these forums are, this will probably be my last post on here.
And yes, there are leaderboards in this game for Steam users. I haven't checked them in awhile but the same website also shows you killers currently queued up, as well as other useful information.
I love that you love to point out that "About 99% believe that they are right in whatever they say instead of looking at facts and logic put forward towards them." while doing the same thing yourself.
Get off that high horse my man. How is that toxic actually? I don't see anything that looks toxic in this thread(I may have missed some messages) and if you think disagreeing with you makes people toxic then I sure as hell am toxic.

Do you know what percentage of players who have installed dead by daylight get to rank 10?
It's 10 percent.
In 2 days, I was able to play and win against people who have hundreds and in some cases over a thousand hours in the game. IN 2 DAYS!
You can see the entitlement that killers have when they feel they should be able to easily stomp survivors who have much more experience than them. I've likely hit my proper rank at rank 10 with pig and I doubt I'll get much higher.
Balance is not me easily getting to rank 1 as killer because BHVR gives me an insta-win button.
At the moment ranks 20-8~ is where people that are very casual or realtively new to the game stay.
You won't rank up that fast if you reach higher rank but it's still a matter of how much time do you spend in a game.
Now, ranks don't necessarily mean skill of a player. You still rank up even if you do badly so rank themselves are not that meaningful unless you hold on to rank 1 because that means you actually have to win every game to keep it.
Also as a 2nd killer in ranking you provided a proof of you play survivor so... yea.

I think the best option is limiting the tier of perks at lower ranks. If you delete ruin, then nobody learns how to deal with it. If you only allow tier 1 perks at rank 20, and tier 2 perks at ranks 16-19, you mitigate the damage, while still learning to deal with it. Even if you have a perk at T3, it only works to T1/T2 based on rank.
When you get these killers/survivors with full tier 3 perks at rank 20 who go on to destroy all in their way, that is not healthy for the game.
So only have 2 survivors have their progress regressed?
How does that help?
Survivors need to learn to look for the totem or just hit skillcheck. Simple as that.
-
Gen tapping(the real one and not 1ms taps), hitting skillchecks, finding the totem.
This perk has so many counters it is funny that people still find it OP.
-
Perma T3 myers + The game + Not very bright survivors and you have a chance.

Impossible. The only outrageous matchmaking I see is when SWF is involved, putting rank 20's into my game when I am a rank 1-2 killer. On average, the advantages of being SWF should outweigh the drawbacks of being matched to the highest survivor in the lobby.
That's the point. It only happend for SWF until now but that game I had earlier
4x rank 2-3 vs rank 14 demi doggy that got through the game without a single hit...
-
4man basement is pretty much hoping for stupid survivors or get good snowball against cocky survivors.
-
It takes away the interaction between killer and survivor.
If I go against 4 survivors that want to always be 100% safe and crouch around corners you may finish entire game before killer gets to chase and hook anyone.

The thing is that's how it's supossed to be.
A extremely high reward with a extremely punishment cause remember, she can go trough the map in seconds and ignore pallets/windows...
Where is that Extremely high reward exactly?
Spirit is way easier to use and win with and you don't have to "predict" survivors will run into you and you don't get a chase reset every time you miss.
Nurse used to be good becuase survivors used to group up a lot, play worse and she had these very powerful addons.
Now survivors mostly play smart, aren't easy to predict, run iron will(or don't make sounds at all due to bug) and push on gens as every time nurse misses as she loses 3-5 seconds just to get another try of using the power.
Only time I have seen nurse succeed was against survivors that hug and run in a straight line.
-
She is way too hard to use now.
I do not expec to invest extra hundred of hours to get to "acceptable" level again and I will get better results with silent bell wraith anyway.
With current sounds that are sometimes glitched to ######### and you can't hear anyone ever you are actually guessing where survivor is and then you have dedicated lag and ghost hits so... bye bye nurse.

“It is hard to make him worse the he actually is”
It’d be easier than you think, as it’s happened to killers who were in a worse spot than him(launch Freddy & Legion).
In order to make him worse then freddy they would have to massively invest into their own delusions of viability and they don't seem that far gone(and it's probably a lot of work).
Rather, they made his power not have modes and add and extra button that releases already existing functionality of static zap.
I honestly don't think it will make him more useful then he is now with just these changes but I'd welcome seeing them now. It's not like we won't have very buggy version of the game for the christmas break.

@JackFrostMan said:
It's better that they work on the actual game and the shambling mess it can be than make an event that'll break the game again.
A healthier game is better than more content.
It would be fine but they didn't increase the speed of doing anything while we still get: Broken patched, trigger happy nerfs, bugged sounds, hotfixes that add bugs just so we can't have remotely bugless holidays.

Exactly that one.
-
I'd wait for cursed legacy to get all of them bugs fixed. Who knows if the killer even remains available after then fix them all in the next 2-3 months(expected time for the next hotfix).
Also it can be free as you can buy it with shards.
Demi-demi isn't really that strong of a killer and dedicated servers makes some of the "plays" randomly not hit.

Like the Trap tech which got restored because of that OP killer called the trapper?

The flick was a BUG from the beginning... They literally wrote so in the release notes of PTB...
They wrote: "The Oni can rotate faster than intended with the keyboard or joystick during Demon Dash." .
It says NOTHING about the flick, nor the demon strike you actually do at the end of Demon Dash.

How so, without some sort of demo recording or video evidence? There's no statistical analytical data to tell them the difference between who is doing that vs. who is just suiciding on hook.
How do you know? We don't know what kind of data is being gathered.
We know they track skillchecks, chases, hits... pretty much anything.

See my above post, it would be treated pretty much the same as a hook suicide w/dev post. If it's just to get out of a game sensibly for whatever reason, no reason it should be punished any more than a random DC, even less so in fact.
If you need to get out of the game for whatever reason... Just disconnect.
You will get a timed penalty for requeuing but why would you want to requeue when you need to go?
I think it should be treated as DC.
-
As I said I'd like to have one of the devs(preferably well informed one) to clarify it for us as nobody knows for sure.
-
@TragicSolitude said:
... I do that when someone DCs or suicides at the beginning of the game, because screw that noise.
I'm kinda curious if it's bannable, too. I don't think I've seen a definitive answer.
I have just left second game in a row when first survivor just disconnects after getting downed or just suicides when his teammates gets knocked down 5 seconds later.
As killer I also had one dude that definetely didn't try to derank or anything by standing there and pointing at the hook.
-
Devs decided that people that don't know how to play the game at high level should reach the high level.
Thanks to them you can now get ######### on together with other killers that didn't acquire enough game knowledge.

This is post nerf by the way. Still pretty stupid to go against.
I had that happen once and I'm not 100% sure what caused it.
As mentioned already during the last milisecond of the swing you get this mad sensitivity during which you don't see anything(as you look at the floor) and I think you can stack keyboard and mouse controls to pull that.
It feels like YET ANOTHER BUG. GOOD JOB BHVR!!!
-
With his flick he was very fun because you trade weak early game to very skill based rage time. It still had plenty of counterplay but was fun.
Sadly BHVR sees people having fun and survivors not yet capable of countering the new killer as a bug that needs to be removed so now he have this. Weak version of billy with 30-40 second timer on a power that still DOESN'T HELP IN LOOPS.
I had fun before the nerf. Now... not so much.
-
@AChaoticKiller said:
yea the change feels bs on console, most of the time im only getting 45* flicks instead of 90* however its better than barely being able to move post change.
On PC he slams the ground around 30-45 degrees to the pointed direction and then you get mad sensitivity which makes it so that you can do full 180 but that's after the attack already happend so no use of it.

No man, I have no means to record a clip but it's funny that you mentioned streamers because it was Zubat that I watched doing it a few days ago. He was talking about how crappy the flick was now and he demonstrated it on Lery's, so you can watch the video and you'll see what I mean.
And just so I'm clear, this isn't the insane turn-from-a-lunge Oni had before the nerf; this is a little different. It happens at the very end of the movement so if you turn it right, you'll get that 90 degree accelerated hit at the end of the dash. It may not be all that useful in normal use around loops, especially when comparing it to the old flick, but I try to work with what I'm given and I don't find it entirely useless,
You mean that initial tiny turn and last milisecond massive swipe which looks like you try to hit their ankles by spinning?
I wouldn't really count that as it doesn't seem to hit anything most of the time.
-
Leatherface is similar in that regard and I believe huntress as well. Their animation is just sped up so fast that it looks faster.
-
- Remove slowdown of his chainsaw,
- actually give some kind of speed boost to his chainsaw charge
- make his addons not useless

That's why I said to try the keyboard because if you assign the turn to keys it might make it easier. That's what I was using by default, Q and E, the mouse took a little bit longer to get right.
If you can't flick 90 degrees then I don't know what to tell you. I use a Logitech G510s keyboard and a G500s mouse and have no problems.
Can you upload some kind of clip of you doing it?
I haven't seen anyone doing it from all of the streamers, youtubers, killers in game or myself so you appear to be only one.
Just btw: If you can only do it using keyboard then that sounds like a bug that allowed Oni to turn more then intended in PTB.

I'm playing on max mouse sensitivity and it doesn't seem to go past 30~ degrees.

The bug where survivors make no sound on the ground is NOT fixed. I just encountered it today witha Feng, and an Adam seperately.
Yes, I worded that wrongly.
They ADDED them in this hotfix, not fixed. My bad. I will amend the comment
-
Don't forget that with the latest hotfix they also introduced the issue that is causing some survivors to not make any noise while crawling on the ground, stridor no longer makes you hear survivors with iron will and footsteps of survivors are now silent.
Also, if you are doing any action that makes a noise, the sound of totem breaking may not actually play at all .
-
You probably can only dodge the lobby. Only thing you can do is play extremely sweaty with the best killers perks, mori and everything but it won't stop survivors from rushing gens.
Most of the time survivors that play like that aren't that good at the game so you can outplay them rarely. Sadly most good survivors just can loop and are able to hold m1 by the gen and that isn't counterable.
Around 25 games in a row today and I had 2 in which survivors didn't push gens as fast as possible, used keys or just straight up groups of random 4 survivors that always send a single person to hook save, perfectly split to work solo on different generators and telepathically tell each other location of the hatch to escape all together.

It’s not about wanting to rank up, just playing the game you rank up. If you do like a couple gens, unhook and heal someone, then have a decent chase you rank up... if you’re not trying to do that then what are you going to accomplish
I'd love a feature to opt out from ranking whatsoever and get random survivors every time.
At least it would give me a chance to not get sweaty games which are only thing that I keep getting today.

Regarding rank reset update:
One serious problem we had was people who don't play a lot who still want to rank up. Sure, playing a game a month just isn't enough. But when it takes quite a few games to get from 15 to 5 and each month it knocks you right back down, that's not fun, nor is it indicative of how good you are at the game.
Also, the system knocked everyone from 1 down to 10, and then various ranks down to 15 depending on how far from 1 you were. Given how the matchmaking algo works (in order to get queue times down), that meant every single player in the entire pool was a legal target to play with every other player in the pool.
Why would you want to rank up anyway?
Other then get the achievement you get sweaty games one after another and there is still no reward whatsoever to getting the highest rank.

While trying to do the 5 escapes challenge it took forever because killers kept disconnecting whenever a game wasn't going their way. So I agree, these DC penalties need to hit console ASAP. Especially since killers can take everything away from all 4 survivors.

Are you saying all killers are smarter and alwats better than survivors? Killers never stand there doing nothing, hide as wraith, or just sit in the basement so they can depip too? I'm sure that has never happened.
I'm not saying that but from my experience it's survivors that suck in most games. Very rarely I find a killer that is a total potatoe that even a banana such as I can (unintentionally) bully. Fruitful.

Its never been intended, I can confirm. We found the problem during PTB. (when using the LEFT-RIGHT key). The live patch didn't fix the problem, the sensitivity settings were overriding the implemented penalty (so basically anyone using 100% sensitivity were pretty much playing the same way it was on the ptb).
Since the recent hotfix, players are experiencing different degrees of penalty based on what their settings is (controller, mouse, keymapping and sensitivity).
We are getting ridd of this turn ration penalty system and implementing a hard cap on the turn angle instead, so players will be able to set their turn ration has they like (sensitivity setting) but everyone, no matter what their setup is, should not be able to go further than 90 degrees.
I'm confused.
Is he supposed to be able to smash 90 degrees from his starting position or not? From my understand it is the flick but you can do something around 20-30 degrees and then at the last 0.1 second you get mad sensitivity which is confusing because it doesn't hit anyone anymore.
Is this how it is supposed to work? Where is this 90 degrees exactly?
-
After new rank reset everyone but new players will be at red ranks for rest of eternity. Of course that depends on how much time they will invest into the game each month but pretty much all regulars regardless of actual game knowledge will arrive at red ranks and stay there.
Taking that into account if 8 rank disparity rule is applied it actually means that pretty much everyone can be matched with anyone.
Finally unranked mode YAY
-
Let me assure you that it won't get fixed.
Latency got worse with servers coming into play. Billy players had way more false chainsaws even before servers got introduced and now it is just bananas.
