Rank 1 survivors know about this and I get stunned all the time, and there is no counter (other than coming out from behind a wall, and you lose distance and it gives them the chance to go to a pallet). It's annoying that the only thing wraith has (a skeak attack) has flashlights and sprint burst to counter it. He's already a basic M1 killer, he doesn´t need too many counters.

What MOST people don't seem to know is that you can stun a nurse, but I'm sure most red ranks know about wraith.

Nobody really plays the nurse anymore so they have no real way to try that.

  • Ok spirit doesn't count then.

Trapper's traps being sabo'able is also great design choice.

Nurse has flashlight burn too if I'm not mistaken but the time window to do it in is so short most people wouldn't ever go for it. I think I've had it happen a few times and it stops you from being able to blink iirc.

It's it just a regular blind? I know you can blind her that way but I haven't seen the burn.

Still my point stands. These weaknesses are stupid design that weren't carried on to all of ther following killers because they make no sense.

  • @Steel_Eyed said:

I like Wraith. This is a fine weakness. It’s super easy to dodge, making easy hits on the brave survivors.

It can also be used to stunlock the wraith with a flashlight as it doesn't decloak you.

    Balanced.

Only killers that have that kind of annoying 'counter' are wraith and trapper that aren't that strong in a first place.

  • Hopefully not soon.

They Mori's are rare and keys that are pretty much survivors equivalent are waaaaaay more common. Even if they don't appear in bloodwebs, just equip plunderer and you will get 2 keys on average every game...

That's just ridiculous. These perks exist, so you can use them. No matter if some people don't like going against them or not. I hate going against OoO, but that's no reason for me to call it toxic.

Well, mori's and keys also exist but for some reason only one is hated and discouraged while other rewarded.

DbD streamers are either very toxic survivor mains, or killer mains who whine at everything. I think that perfectly reflects the status of the community

    Which steamers you mean?

The actual big streamers like Scott, Zubat, Tru3 or Otz appear to give pretty good feedback about the state of the game as they play every role game has and have a decent knowledge about it.

Or do you mean these dbd streamers that pop out left right and center that can pretty much be summed up as ochido wannabies as they pull their sick jukes and amazing challanges of surviving with swf and suck.

Or the twitchies as they are league of their own?

This sounds absolutely nuts to me lol. Lower the chances if survivors have second chance perks equipped?! I've been playing this game for maybe a year now and the only major set back for the killers was ruin nerf and this JUST happened. Aside from that, survivors kept getting hit back to back with nerfs. The game is made for killers to win yo. It blows me when I scroll through the forums and I see killers complaining lol. I can't even count all the killers that tea bag me/camp/troll by hitting me while i'm on the hook only because I made them chase me for a long time and I can't do anything back besides satisfy them by dying and giving them bloodpoints. It's absolutely disgusting and makes the game not even enjoyable. What's worse, I'm on ps4 so when I report them it goes unnoticed so I have to just deal with it or not play so I don't even play as much anymore. Don't get me started on how toxic killers are now since ruin nerf 🤦🏾‍♂️

Dude. Game actually increases your chances of unhooking yourself when your whole team is down.

Also, if you think survivors getting hit with nerfs is a bad thing then you clearly have no clue about this game. Remember these balanced insta heals and insta gens?

  • @ad19970 said:

It certainly isn't. No perk in this game is toxic, people are allowed to play with what the game offers you.

And it's only fair for survivors to have a perk that can counter slugging like that.

Many people would disagree as they claim that using Noed, Franklin's, blood warden or even spirit fury enduring combo is toxic.

  • Toxic? Probably not. Is it part of a meta that should be changed by the devs? Yes, definetely.

And by meta I mean DS, Unbreakable, adrenaline combo.

At least that comeback factor that allows survivors to often kobe from the hook when all are downed or hooked should be disabled when survivors have either DS or Unbreakable. I mean, they already have comeback tools, no need to boost their chances.

  • It should be anti tunnelling perk. If killer hooked someone else it's not tunnelling anymore. Disabling it so it can't be used as an invurnability to unhook other survivors/fix gens/dismantle a totems.

Self care is fine as it is.

    DS should deactivate after you:

    - Unhook survivor

    - Get healed

    - Touch generator

    - Another survivor has been hooked

Self care is on a chopping block next. Devs said it is used too much now so we will see it nerfed.

  • @Waffleyumboy said:

I don't really know how Self Care can be nerfed any further.

You change into dying state if you fail a skillcheck :D

  • Matchmaking now matches everyone with everyone while ignoring the rank.

It just shows that there isn't enough killers playing to fill the lobbies. I don't know if it is really caused by recent changes or it is just a trend that will continue to appear and grow.

I don't see devs ever revealing such information but all we know is that they don't plan to make game better for killer in any way in the forseable future but hey, at least the manager is happy that they push out cosmetics fast.

  • Aim Assist as people call it always was a thing when killers power or swings autoaimed on survivor that has a haste effect active.

I honestly see no reason why billys chainsaw cannot hit a survivor that is running slower then billy in a straight line even if killer is faster.

  • Behaviour always was like that. Ever since the game release they just push with their own idea of the game and never listen.

The PTB isn't like in many other games where devs use it to gather feedback and data on how players handle new changes. Instead it is used as a replacement to QA team which they apparently have but they always fail to find same bugs that appear after every patch.

What annoys me the most is their hypocrisy. Not queen mentioned in the last QnA that they would like to refrain from knee jerk changes and gather data first as she bring up freddy's rework after the release. What she already managed to forgot somehow is how devs nerfed killers soon after release to "fix bugs". Spirit got a big nerf after ptb and after a while she got buffed again. Oni was demolished in a week after release as his power was never intended.

Is removing ruin a good idea? I don't think so. As some people mentioned it's not a big deal because good players ignored the perk anyway but it still was buying at least some time from survivors that went around to look for it. Did it manage to hold out for long? Definetely not in most of games but when it did stay up for long, killer could actually relax and play around with survivors.

Overall ruin was one of bandaid perks that devs introduced instead of actually tweaking the numbers. Now we will get a nerf to toolbox repair boost which will honestly do nothing as survivors can easily push out the gens anyway.

On the other hand I can guarantee devs won't notice anything wrong with the gen speeds as Peanitz announced they will consider doing. Why would they? New players manage to fix 1 gen in 15 games so gen speeds are fine.

  • @Peanits said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1026203#Comment_1026203

It is the case. To explain:

Auto aim gives you a hit you otherwise would not have gotten.

What happens in DBD is that the game recognizes that you've gotten a hit by checking a cone shaped area in front of you for survivors, then pulls you towards them to make it look like you'd expect (so your weapon actually makes contact). It will not give you a hit unless you actually aimed at them. Basically it dresses it up after the fact.

That's not to say that it can't cause a hit that should have connected to miss- I'm not trying to convince you that it doesn't happen- but it's not "auto aim" or "aim assist".

It is not just an animation after dedicated servers got introduced.

With introduction of dedicated servers situation when game autoaims you into a survivor without you actually hitting him happens quite often. It's most commonly seen during survivor animations for example survivor run behind the corner or vaulted the window. Autoaim tracks him on the other side of the window essentially robbing the hit from the killer(as killer then hits the wall directly in front of him) which feels very artificial.

Other time is when survivor/server has slight delay and survivor 360'ing literally teleports. During these times killer can autoaim and actually track survivor spinning in front of him with his camera(as if locked to look straight at him) without hit actually landing.

DEVS SAID: The killers have enough tools to apply pressure. how? Devs, tell me how.

Ok .. I understand you, I have to play with a trapper without being able to set traps, playing dirty, slugging, yeah really fun.

Do we have to apply pressure? Ok, lets play: Billy, Nurse with addons.

What head fits this term: Killers have tools to apply pressure ... tell me how I do it with: Trapper, Clown, GF, Myers, Leatherface etc ... do I have to ... slugging? Play pig, of course that is the game you are looking for. Keep it up, ignoring the people who have been playing your game for 4 years.

That's all I have to say.

Simplest answer is: If survivors hold M1 by the gens and don't run away as fast as they can, you will not be able to apply much of a pressure.

Some survivors will try to "mindgame" you but they always have the safer option of dropping the pallet slightly faster and you have to give up chase or you will never get anyone... and that gives survivors 3 gens for free.

Also, I thought everyone already knew that slugging is the only way to actually do anything to the mediocre survivors and Adrenaline, DS and Unbreakable is meta so you can only hope to play against bad players.

BUT HEY, devs fixed the issue of survivors being too good with making every lobby contain two players that know how to play and 2 players that are complete newbies. Newbies will die, good players will survive unless you focus on that good players instead of finishing off potatoes. Fixed.

This is a very fair criticism that i think people often forget about because if youre really into the game you probably have most if not all of the DLC. Ruin, BBQ, and WGTLF feel like necessary perks, ive been playing for over half a year and just got out of the grinding phase of the game to get teachable (And only the ones i wanted, I still have plenty locked) I cant imagine how long that would have took without BBQ. And i feel like i still dont get very many BP as survivor compared to killer even with WGTLF, if youre someone who only plays survivor on PC and for whatever reason dont get david, good ######### luck

We're gonna farm forever used to give +100% per stack instead of +25% bps and it was fun :D

  • @EverflowingRiver said:

Idk why they don't use the average of the survivors rank to find the killer. Seems to be the most fair way to do it.

It seems that they disabled rank requirement for matchmaking and everyone plays against everyone now and there is still not enough killers playing.

  • I mean, they linked killers power to the effect designed to grant survivor's immunity from all attacks and somehow it isn't deadly. WHO WOULD HAVE GUESSED, HUH?

  • So you're saying that after everyone tests out new Hex: Ruined for few days we should all sit down and wait 40 minutes for the lobby?

  • Back in the day many killer players decided killer's viabilty by their addon reliance.

Old Nurse didn't need any addons to do amazing, just like billy didn't really need any addons. And then devs decided that (almost) every other killer from then on will be addon dependant because base power is somewhat lacking.

We still have Spirit that can do well without addons and billy didn't really change but most other killers need some "tool" for help.

AND THEN we have demigorgon who's addons were created by someone else then actually designed his active ability because his addons actually do nothing to the main power he has and instead focus on adding 0.5 seconds to travel time or something stupid like that.

On the sidenote, it's not like killers need addons, they just help(sometimes).

  • @Colton147 said:

People need to apply more pressure.

I play Clown and am able to apply extreme pressure without any issue.

You get one of many giant maps. Survivors spawn far away from one another and each one starts working on a seperate gen.

You apply the pressure to the single survivor and chase him for let's say 40-50 seconds, then pick him up and hook him. 3 gens pop if survivors are not stupid and just hold M1 on their only objective.

When do you apply that pressure?

Are you absolutely sure that it's you that applies pressure and not survivors not work on their objective for no reason whatsoever?

  • Even the best killers around pretty much agreed that without ruin they would have to play less "fun" for survivors.

If you don't have enough time in the game what you will do? Slug, camp and tunnel when it's a good counter to survivors playstyle.

  • You know that survivors can open the hatch with a key before all gens are done.

Better yet, killer can close the hatch that automatically powers the gates... and when only one survivor remains even if others escaped or died already it opens again.

  • People started to joke that Behaviour stated to read the book from bethesda on how to kill the game but it's other way around.

It's behaviour that started the track of first creating problems and then selling the solutions in shape of perks or killers.

Gens too quick - buy hag dlc

Not enough BP because grind is a slog? - LF DLC

Not enough bp but you play survivor - David King DLC

30 pallets on every map? - Spirit DLC

It's annoying that devs try to balance the game with perks and not mechanics and I sincerely doubt they will do ANYTHING after the ruin nerf. I think it's Peanits that responded to one of those claims and if he/she says that they may look at gen speeds and toolboxes after the removal of ruin we have very, very high chance they won't even bother especially after that "Definetely not biased" dev note.

  • Game forces you to learn by trial and error. You can look up guides and read about stuff but you still need to play to learn.

Devs made changes to the rank so that players can rank up faster even if they don't play as much without even considering that rank 20/new player that gets to rank 1 will get smashed regardless of boosters devs decide to give them.

  • @Hunkulese said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1002492#Comment_1002492

If that's happening to you consistently, you're not a good killer.

    Consistently? Not really.

But I know not to play killer on the evening during the weekends as the sweatiest teams come out at the time.

You know, these 4 man swfs that are definetely randoms and all run DS+unbreakable combo with toolboxes.

Game don't last 4-5 minutes but probably around 6 or 7 but it's still a losing battle where you need to have them make some mistakes to snowball of.

  • It's not like they could reach out to the group of people that

    • play their game for a living,
    • are willing to have educated discussion with one another about balance fixes the game is in dire need of
    • are actually rewarded with codes and early access boons
  • I'm voting for every player that reach a rank 1 to be sent a bag of cookies for the achievement.

    Who's with me?

  • @Hunkulese said:

It's amazing how much complaining there is when you consider that killers are still much stronger than survivors at most levels. New killers dominate new survivors. Survivor is easy to master since they all play the same, but once you've mastered a killer, you have to go out of your way to make it a competitive/fun game.

If you can't do well without ruin, you're not a good killer. Practice. Gen speed is not the problem. If gens were any slower, killers would always win. A better change would be to tone down survivor run speed a tad, but even that's not necessary.

If the gens are gone in 4 minutes, it means you had a bad game. This isn't something that's happening every game.

Unless you get a streak of good survivors and one of the survivor sided maps(so most of them).

Survivors used to derank and end the game with around 8-9 k points if they hardcore genrushed. Now they go out with around 15k so profit.

  • In one of the future patches they will remove the rank completely or leave it purely as an estetic thing to look at in the lobby.

At this point rank serves no purpose anyway judging from the threads popping out so maybe they are testing it already.

On the side note: Peanits mentioned that new ruin will be a "test" to see gen speeds without them being affected by a perk to check if anything needs changing. You lads wanna bet they won't find any issues with them?

  • I remember having a blast with stacking STBFL and Unrelenting back in the day. It was just fun, not as much competitive but silly.

  • He actually does play this game for a living so he isn't very good example and due to amazing rank reset changes everyone is red rank but few unlucky people that don't play as much.

Also... whenever I go to Otz's stream he plays legion and wins about 50% of his games and the rest he gets one kill tops due to survivors just playing good. He isn't a god incarnate but just as any other good killer can capitalize on survivors mistakes. If they don't make enough of them, he will lose the game.

  • I mean... we can agree it was too OP for a late game perk.

New ruin is even stronger in the late game then the old one, it frees up the slot for noed and hope it won't get broken before it starts existing :D

  • You blackboxed wrong bit mate.

Move those boxes a bit to the left to cover the rank and BOOOM!!! matchmaking fixed.

    ETA: Next patch

  • Well, devs probably won't notice if toolboxes are fun to play against as they don't really hinder new players and they didn't identify any issues with them.

Toolboxes should give you more points and bigger skillchecks only.

Great skillchecks shouldn't give ANY bonus progress on the gen and instead reward the player with more BP's then now.

Also, gen being worked on by many people should be fixed in 44 seconds but in around 60~. Survivors already gain double or triple BP's for coop action, there is no need to remove the time from killers matches.

Now that wishes are done let's wait and see them do nothing to gen speeds and toolboxes.

  • I'm all for death penalty and to be honest I'm don't care as much.

  • Yesterday I went for the daily for nurse on slightly laggy server.

DON'T PLAY NURSE ON DEDICATED SERVERS!!!

  • New "Improved" ruin.

  • @HexMoriMeMommy said:

It's basically what they are doing.

Pray to god you don't have the audacity to try and buy and play the game now.

Death squads are just gonna ######### you if your high rank.

    I'm rank 1 so I'm already a goner.

I have tried few games yesterday against random survivors. 2 games were against good survivors and one against mediocre/bad ones.

Good survivors have too much power with the current map design.

One game with good survivors had many good loops and survivors could hold M1 by the gens so 5 minute game with 2 kills in the end game.

One game lasted long time against good survivors because map randomness allowed it to not grant survivors amazing loops and huge fields to run around in and I got 4 kills.

One game against bad survivors and they finished only 2 gens before dying on amazing map for them.

It's maps that need balancing and not the ######### ruin. GG devs

  • What do you mean by WILL BE MISSED. I haven't seen a doc for a long long time now.

  • All changes in this patch are made so that survivors have it easier to counter doc, ruin.

The wording of the patchnotes make bias so obvious you have to be blind to miss it.

Not a single word of killer's "fun" part is taken into account other then pointless emblems.

  • Bias is only visible in the dev post. All that frustration of Snapping out of it and annoyance of doc static field....

1 … 4 5 6 7 8 … 17
