Yes, it's bad, but at least there are no Breakable Walls, unlike Dead Dawg, which has too many of them, 90% of them needing to be broken so the Killer can do anything on that Map
Yeah, but I do like that map from a Survivor perspective. Lots of brush that is great for hiding in and letting the Killer walk right past you....if you're not dressed up like a Prom Queen, of course. :)
-
I think there are enough of each, for the time being.
-
It's a lousy map, both pre and post-revamp. But I'll take it over RCPD any day and twice on Sunday. :)
-
As a fully SoloQ player myself, I agree with most of what the SoloQ players here have said. It's not that I am simply looking out for myself and playing for the hatch, it's actually quite the opposite. I go into each match hoping for solid team play from at least one or two of the other Survivors. But, 4.5 years of experience with this silly game has taught me that this will NOT be the case in the vast majority of matches. I've learned to not let myself get uptight about it. It is what it is.
So, I build for stealth. Urban, Iron, Distortion, Premo. Nea The Ninja! I wear the darkest colored, non-foofyest outfit available. I use the geography and lighting of the map to my advantage wherever possible. I use the Killer's limited 1st-person perspective to my advantage wherever possible. I hide in plain sight if I need to. I'll use lockers where I can to save Distortion charges, but I actually LOVE that post-patch I can recharge it simply by being in terror radius. That's huge. I don't run everywhere I go, avoiding leaving runway lights for the Killer. Frequently, when the Killer gets around to making a hook, I am no more than 10 yards away, waiting for the Killer to leave the area.....and ensuring that the Killer is not doubling back to thwart a save.
All told, it works as well as it can.
-
My take has always been that if a given perk is powerful enough to be considered 'Meta', then it's probably too powerful. So I don't have a big problem with the proposed changes so far. They aren't the first, they won't be the last. And it also won't be the first time that both Survivors and Killers have declared the game dead because of a proposed change. And it won't be the first time that they're wrong.
With all that said, I too am largely a Survivor main, and 'Iron Will' is part of my '99% of the time' build. If I decide it no longer effectively serves my purpose, I'll identify another perk that will. No harm, no foul.
-
I don't think SWF should be removed any more than I think NOED should be removed. The comms are a ggameplay problem, and in my opinion it would be neat to see some sort of positional audio added to the game(ie, Survivors can only hear each other to communicate within a certain radius), but that wouldn't prevent people from just using Discord, etc. It's not a simple fix.

now this I do support,... you DC, lose a pip.
Yup! And I'm aware of course that not all DCs are intentional, and I wish there were a way to make that determination. But my hunch(and my experience)is that the vast majority of DCs are deliberate.
-
A player who disconnects from a match should lose a pip. Other than that, I agree that it no longer serves a useful purpose.
-
Matchmaking in the game is a potato. Always has been, always will be, and SBMM didn't alleviate it. It seems to work well in other games, just not this one for whatever reason.

Everyone hates the Artist and that makes me sad. As an artist main, I am in the minority of people who actually enjoy playing her and get satisfaction out of bird sniping. I really liked the Artist and found her power fun to use and a strong killer.
Sadako was a flop in regard to her strength. She was cool in design and animations, but her actual gameplay has disappointed a lot of people to the point where no one is scared of her when they go against one (if you ever go against one).
Cenobite is fun. Very annoying to go against and I heard has a bigger learning curve than he lets on with not much reward. I still see a decent amount of Cenobites in the fog.
Nemesis is a pretty good killer as well. I think he also fell below people's expectations, but he isn't a terrible killer. Has a pretty decent power (when it works) and you can get some crazy games with him. His zombies aren't the best at times, but they aren't completely worthless 100% of the time.
I liked your comments on playing The Artist in particular. I'm playing some Killer right now for a change of pace(I rarely play Killer at all these days), and I'm playing The Twins, largely because they are the Killer subject in the current tome. No points into them first, I played them from level 1. All I hear is that they're useless, awful and low-tier, but I am actually enjoying playing them, and learning how to use them together for the best effect. And not doing terribly most of the time.
Ultimately, I think it depends what Killer fits you, and not what 'Tier' they are. I've seen all the Killers be really nasty, and I've seen them all be crap. It depends on the player, and the build they've come up with.

The dbd community is just awful. I come from games like Overwatch and Rainbow Six and MK, and I thought those communities were toxic. None of those compare to the toxic cesspool that is the dbd community. You can't have fun at all without people sending all kinds of hate your way. Want to play Legion or a killer someone hates in particular? You are the worst human alive. Want to blind a killer? ######### yourself. Run NOED? Scum of the earth. This community really needs to grow the ######### up. Also, everyone likes to talk about face camping and tunneling and whatever, but thats not toxic. That is ######### in the game. What is toxic is how you as a person behave and what you say to others. Tunneling and NOED is not toxic, but calling someone a slur over it is toxic. Most of my experiences come from toxic survivors. I get maybe one toxic killer every other week. I mean actual toxicity, playing like an ######### to just be an #########. I don't mean camping or tunneling because they have to catch up and want to win as well. It is so rare I actually run in to killers just simply wanting to be an #########. But for survivors? It is every game almost. So much hate gets sent my way just because I had the balls to load in as a killer. And even when I paly survivor, I still mostly put up with toxicity from the other survivors! This community needs to grow the ######### up and quit encouraging it. And the double standard is atrocious. It is funny and cute when survivors act toxic, but it is awful when it comes from the killer. And the devs need to quit promoting toxic behavior in the community, as well. They could easily fix the things people abuse for the sake and purpose of being an #########, and also make camping and tunneling unnecesssary, but I still don't see what is being done about it. They can also make flashlights only click so fast. I get so many people macro clicking in my face, and it is so disorienting. This community needs to grow the ######### up and start acting like decent people.
Well said :)

Yikes, lemme guess you do well cause you NEVER EVER get into a chase with the killer while letting your team die on hook so you can escape via hatch? Thats what your build literally screams...
Nope! In fact, most of the folks who die on the hook in the pub matches I end up in do so because they commit suicide on their first hook, or they DC when they get downed. And, alas, the Killer has a tendency to find the hatch first most of the time.
You sound like a hook-rushing Claudette too. ;)

U have a build to hide lol do u even get in chases? I mean, no offense but playing surv is a cooperative effort, and ur build only help u hide and sneak it brings nothing to the team. In high mmrs that wont fly bro.
I get in chases when I need to, and/or when it happens. It's not a build to hide, it's a build to help you stay off of the Killer's radar, except at times of your own choosing. It actually helps me escape some chases, as well. :)
There is much more to the game than DS/BT/DH/SC and hook rushing, Claudette....
-
I don't have a huge issue with slugging in most situations, and in some of them(like the scenario when Survivors are glomming around a pallet that another poster mentioned above), it would be foolish of the Killer to NOT punish that with a slug.
But in other situations...like slugging the last two Survivors just to preclude anyone from a chance at the hatch, or slugging just to avoid having to chase them down for repeated hooks, etc, etc, that's priggish and not ok.
And when it comes to slugging any number of Survivors just to allow them to bleed out for however long that takes, I consider that Gameplay Abuse/Trolling, and I flag it as such when I see it.

I guess maybe I haven't come around to this playstyle?? I blame MMR for making players play this way smh. I miss when randoms in Solo Q would do everything to get everyone out the gates. guess its just not the case in todays game ://
Yeah, I've been playing since early 2018, and I'm not sure it ever was the case. If it was, then you're right, it is no longer true. There are some odd games where I happen to get plopped into a group of Survivors that are actually interested in team play, but it has always been a rarity in my experience. And I'm pretty much always solo queue...I don't like to play SWF very much. To me, voice comms really ruin it.
But yeah, again, a good stealth build like my 'Nea The Ninja' build that I mentioned above can really change things. Also, forget about the shiny, poofy cosmetic outfits that make you a neon sign for Killers. They're deathtraps. I stick with darker colored, Plain Jane-type outfits that help me blend in. Use that in combination with using the geography of the map to your advantage. Most maps have lots of little nooks and crannies that come in real handy I've had Killers walk right past me, multiple times in a match, and never catch me even though I was literally hiding in plain sight, because they probably didn't think to look in that spot for a Survivor. It can be surprising, sometimes, at how observant a lot of Killers are NOT....
-
I was absolutely convinced that there would never again be a DBD map more atrocious than Raccoon City Police Station.
BHVR proved me wrong. :)

Oh yes . . . Blood Warden. First time I went against it, I didn't know your aura was visible to the Killer if you're within the gate.
☹️
Exactly! Usually I would open a gate and then go back for a save, only to find that said Survivor was on their death hook. Oh well, back to the exit, and........whoops.
These days I 99 the gate, and won't open it if anyone is about to get hooked. If someone does, I'll find somewhere to hide out a bit until I can see BW is not in play...or, go in for a save if applicable.

Scenario A: run killer, few gens pop & it's a facecamp or tunnel
Scenario B: I get left on hook to die even when Killer isn't camping
Scenario C: Teammate goes down first 30 seconds & DC's
Scenario D:Team is potato and everyone's crouching
these are what my games look like for the past month. what do I even do? like if it's not this then its that. The only way I could survive my matches is if I run killer all the way till I run out the exit gates which is why I always equip Adrenaline. anyone else get matches like these & how do you go about your matches? It's just no fun for me if I have to try so hard to escape and odds are still I won't live.
If you're going to play in the random/solo queue, accept that you're largely going to be on your own, and that you will have to look out for #1, because none of your teammates usually will. There are some who will, but most are either overly altruistic(they want the save points, and they couldn't care less if you get tunnelled and hung right back up), or non-altruistic(they want to start gens and leave).
Play your game. Play objectives when it fits. Work with the team when you can(and when they actually will work with you). Play altruism when it fits. Look for a build that allows you to be stealthy(I use Urban Evasion, Iron Will, Premonition, Distortion). If the other three Survivors are going to be dorks, there is no shame in amassing whatever points you can, and then playing for the hatch.
-

Often times, games are lost because of many wrong choices made throughout the game (this goes for Killer and Survivor). But have you ever played a game where ONE choice, ONE action, ONE second cost the whole game? I have. Last night was one of them.
Yup!! Some of my worst Survivor mistakes began with failing to account for Blood Warden.

This is literally the only way to play as survivor currently. At least, if you want more than 3-4k bloodpoints.
Only if you're a 'Path Of Least Resistance' type is this true. I don't use any of the perks mentioned in this thread, at all, unless a challenge requires me to do so.
Urban Evasion, Iron Will, Distortion, Premonition is my build 99% of the time. I do well nearly every match.
-
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't BHVR say at some point that one of the things on their 'to-do' list for the future was to look more closely into some of the cheating/griefing reports, etc? As in, there might perhaps be a threshold of reports for whatever that, once crossed, would prompt BHVR to start taking a closer look at the player being reported? Seems like something that would be pretty resource-intensive, but I could have sworn they mentioned it.
-
For what it's worth, I've had some degree of success with the Box by using geography to sort of stymie the chains. I don't necessarily go for the solve as soon as I pick it up, depending on time. I also try and put myself near a pallet or a loopable area in the event that Pinhead does port over to me when I try it, just to increase my chance of losing him.
I don't think Pinhead is OP. From the few Killer matches I've played with him, it seems that he is similar to the Nurse as far as level of difficulty and learning curve go. And I think going forward he will be similar to the Nurse as well.....ie those Killers who master him will be absolutely deadly. But he isn't for everybody, like maybe Leatherface or Billy are.
-
So while I've been pretty scathing re: SBMM so far, I do have to admit that a week out, my Survivor games have gotten to be much better matched, at least anecdotally. I'm focusing on Killer challenges this week, so we'll see how that pans out.
Any Killer mains noticed that maybe this is panning out after all?

True. But that was before SBMM. Now it's reversed. Just had another game full of potatos. I feel so bad. And you can tell how frustrating it is for them. I don't understand how I'm still getting those grades after having 3k and 4k with new killer almost every match. They have no fun. BHVR is destroying solo queue survivors interest in this game.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/H8659UABOW0L/grades1.jpg
This is pretty much what I'd have said if I was going to elaborate. And I'm not even new, I've been playing DBD for almost 4 years. The state of this game right now is worse than I've ever seen it. I don't know what possessed them to start SBMM in the manner that they did, with everyone starting from zero. You are correct, they are going to alienate the solo queue players on both sides, and that is the meat of their player base.
-

Nope. It's no longer worth that, either.

What I've learned over the past 24 hours is that DBD is no longer a game that is worth my time or concern.

I consider a sweaty player and sweaty team as someone who always uses the meta and exploits every imbalance present in the game to win at all cost. It's people just trying to do their best and win. It's not really a negative personality trait to try your best in something you're doing. The term is definitely used in a negative connotation by people that are upset when they lose. I know I'm guilty of doing it myself. I don't think deep down people think that negatively about people trying their hardest to win, I think they're really just venting their frustration because of BHVR's inability to create a fair competitive environment within the game.
To try your best in something you're doing is not a negative personality trait. Willingness to exploit every imbalance and weakness you see in order to do that is.
-
The problem, in my strong opinion, is SWF. That is going to break whatever they've come up with re: SBMM.
-
I can say that I'm having even less fun returning to playing Killer than I was previously to SBMM, yes. It comes down to SWF, in my opinion.
-
One thing SBMM HASN'T done is deal with SWF Sweat Squads in any meaningful way, and to be honest I don't know that it is possible to do so, short of flat-out removing SWF from the game. If anything, the SWF factor has been even more prevalent in my case since this was added, and they're very easy to detect. I feel pretty bad for people who have tried to start playing Killer this week, thinking that they'd be matched with Survivors that were at least somewhat on par. Alas, matchmaking in this game has always been a potato, and it seems that it always will be.
I've been hesitant in the past, but at this point, I would be 100% in favor of removing the SWF feature from the game entirely. It is simply too unbalanced in terms of the bottom 90% of Killers having any reasonable chance against 4 coordinated and miked-up Survivors. And, it leaves far too much room for abuse of the Killer. If people want to team up, they would have the KYF feature at their disposal. They can find a fifth friend to be the Killer, and they can sweat to their hearts content.
Until then, I'm afraid I am largely done playing Killer.
-
I'm not sure what to think of it yet, my jury is still out. I played a lot of Killer yesterday, since I am out of Survivor challenges for the moment. My grade level for Killer was rock bottom(Gray 1)since I hadn't played Killer in a couple of months The first 2-3 matches I played(Trapper, Huntress)were clear SWF squads---gen rush, flashlight spam, slam in and out of lockers, teabag, You know, the usual suspects. In all three of them, there were two that were at 'Red' grade level. After those initial matches, it seemed to even out....as if the game actually did learn a bit about how I was playing and adjusted opponents accordingly, at least to a degree. The later matches were a good bit more enjoyable and seemed somewhat more balanced(I played as The Plague for most of those matches). Will have to play around with it some more.
On the Survivor side, we just got a DLC and almost everyone is playing Pinhead, and no one is very good with him yet, so I can't really say yet how it's working there. Two survivor matches with Pinhead. One we got aced, and the second we aced him.
-
@DwarvenTavern said:
I don't... know how it would be a bit more difficult. I mean, doesn't some Legendary outfits actually change their voice?
Also... what about Legion? Who actively changes voices with each costume change. Sure. It swaps between the two since they're shared, but the brand new outfit that came out like a week ago for Legion actually changes his voice completely.
So I personally don't think that's the issue is because of Chatterer
Legion is a proprietary character, not a licensed character, so BHVR can do whatever they want with it. Not so with Hellraiser characters. Could be that the IP owner said that they couldn't have Chatterer speaking in Pinhead's voice, and they still wanted to sell their $15 Chatterer skin. Could really be just a tech issue.
-
There are definitely some issues post-Pinhead. More time in PTB wouldn't have been a bad thing. Wouldn't be a bad idea to wait on the DLC if you haven't got it yet. My only huge complaint is no 'Hellraiser' map. That would have been really cool.
-
I actually did okay with Pinhead last night, when the match wasn't crashing. The chains are hard as hell to get the hang of.

This is between Wraith and Billy.
Both have mobility, though Billy's is better. Wraith has stealth, but Billy can insta-down.
It's hard to say because the two play so differently. Wraith relies on ambushes and hit-and-run tactics while Billy is a snowball machine.
Although, Billy still gets hit hard by certain maps while Wraith has lost a significant amount of his map dependency with the new speed and 20m+ complete invisibility.
Wraith also has maps that are roughly free wins such as indoor maps, which is pretty great. However, Billy can potentially wreck an entire team in moments if he plays his hards right.
All around, I'd say they're about even.
Now, let's all press F for Trapper who is almost unanimously agreed to be the weakest of the bunch.
I'm a sucker for the underdog, but I've always felt that Trapper is underrated. I enjoy playing him a lot. It's all in the add-ons, perk build, trap placement, and how you go about herding the Survivors into those traps.

@CptDeadpoool said:
If the killer sits on hook with a survivor, killer should slowly start to go blind. Or their melee cool down is reduced for every 5 seconds of babysitting
I have maintained and continue to maintain that the best way to punish a hook-camping Killer is to go work gens. Yes, this means that sometimes you'll leave one Survivor to their fate. And yes, that sucks. But yes, sometimes 'taking one for the team' is what a Survivor has to do. I've been there, too. If it's their first hook, and they don't try to unhook themselves, the whole sack process takes 2 minutes. That is enough time for the other Survivors to start 2, maybe even 3 gens. And if they can manage to start 3 gens for the price of one sack......well, then the Killer is usually going to be in a world of hurt.
What REALLY sucks is when a Killer manages to hook two in the basement, and then just stands on the steps....

I used to watch a streamer who played DbD with her friends a lot. So after some time, I bought the game but didn't touch it for months (I was really afraid of playing it because I'm not a fan of PVP games and I know people are harsh when there's a "competitive" scenario). After 4 months, I started playing survivor, it was really, really fun. Then I started playing Huntress, I did enjoy her. But then I discovered the Nurse (I knew how difficult she was, but her power was everything to me). Today I think I have more than one thousand hours only playing Nurse and recently I felt in love with the Spirit. So I'm basically splitting my time between Nurse and Spirit!
And you? Tell us your history!
It was on sale on PS4 for like $15 with a good bit of the DLC that was available in early 2018, so I said 'why not?' Now I own it on two platforms with all DLC, LOL. I'm a sucker.

Most spirits do at rank 1, but why wouldn't someone use a good perk for the killer and to counter iron will lol. But with that being removed a few changes to the green addons for duration/speed would be a good fix, people dont get they outplay spirits but she can correct it due to green+addons. But yeah shes not unbeatable, intact most I see lose but like you said people dont try they make it easy for her
True, and I think a lot of Survivors don't really do their homework all that well when it comes to perk builds that work well in different situations, instead of just running the default 'Path Of Least Resistance' builds and then getting upset when they maybe don't work out..
My response to that is one word long: Monto. He is like the YouTube King of unique perk builds.

@EntitySpawn said:
Yes standing still mind game is kinda stupid, yes green rarity and above addons are really strong but let's be honest most players arent trying to counter or play around her power... so if we limited spirit to yellow addons and already have the stridor nerf I honestly dont think she's that bad of a killer to verse, too often while playing spirit or versing spirit I see survivors just run forward, they hear the "whooshing" (her phasing) and just run making it an easy hit or they just dont bother trying and give up.
While I agree spirit is strong we need some strong killers, I'd accept changing green-iri addons to be a little weaker as they do boost her the most but she's honestly not that bad, she wins because people give up, she wins because people dont change their play style. When the ranking is a mess and players are versing a strong killer who can play them well its obviously gonna be a slaughter, no it's not just down to the spirit it's down to survivors as well.
People argue its alot of guessing/reads but that's actually alot of dbd gameplay especially for killer, a great example is a t&l the killer has a 50/50 guess if you're gonna vault.
She's stronger against injured players, so heal and abuse the fact you're healthy and she cant hear your pains.
I tend to agree. Spirit is strong, but not unbeatable. With the way I see a lot of Survivors in a lot of matches run around the map willy-nilly, leaving wide swaths of scratches and blood behind them that are like runway lights for a Killer, it's no wonder they can't avoid her. I honestly don't see Spirit using Stridor that much, either. Maybe at red tanks they do?...I avoid the red ranks as much as possible, so I can't say for sure.

Yeah that's been my experience a lot of the time with Peekaboo as well. I've had Survivors message me post-match and tell me that I had them literally, physically screaming! Mission Accomplished. :) I have a fun time with that build...I use it with Whispers, so that as soon as I see it go off, I can just hit stalk and see anybody in my radius, and I use Monitor so that I literally HAVE NO audible terror radius. Then I'll try and set things up so that the Survivor comes through a door or around a blind corner and ends up directly in my arms. If they happen to hear me breathing, it's already too late. Fun times all around :)

I guess I prefer not to see Leatherface, Billy, Blight, Spirit. Ghostface can be a pain.
Someone mentioned Mikey with infinite EW3....that can be a toss-up, and what I do there really depends on how the other 3 react to it. Sometimes we end up being able to work through it, other times I end up helping where I can, getting as many BP as I can muster, and then I either look for the hatch or face my fate with dignity :)
Nurse isn't usually so bad, just because a whole lot of people end up not being great at playing her. But then, similarly, a lot of Survivors really don't understand how to approach a Nurse either, so a lot of the Nurse slaughters I see kinda stem from that. BUT, when I do see a well-played Nurse, I know that none of us are going to survive anyway, so it's back to get my points, do what I can, etc. And I try to pop the Nurse up post-match too and give them props, because playing the Nurse well is no small achievement.

Oh. So now that killers have a long wait time it's a problem. LUL. And if they had stayed, OP would be complaining about flashlight saves and clicking.
Or the survivors are looking to make flashlight saves. Maybe it's for hag. Maybe it's to blind the killer at pallets to give themselves a little more time. Maybe it's for zombies since Nemesis is so popular right now. Maybe survivors can equip whatever they want and leave lobbies if they choose.
It's a problem that they're bringing flashlights, and it's a problem that they leave, huh? I guess they should just be removed.
Hey, it's no skin off my back really. Just mentioning that Killer queue times are, on average, longer than Survivor queue times. It can be annoying to get a lobby and then have people bolt. It is what it is.
Flashlights are fine by me, too. I'll throw on some Lightborn and some Franklin's, and we'll have some fun watching the tryhardiness and discos as the Flashlight Platoon comes to realize that I've taken their script and torn it up. Makes my day :)

I wasn't even mad by the blatant cockiness but when I get the upper hand they just DCed without punishment.(Who even cares about pipping down). This crap made me furious.
Looks about right.
Just as an anecdote, I see more discos from red ranks than I do any others.

I play both sides too & survivor mains refuse to suck up their pride & admit they're way more toxic than killers sometimes. Killers can ruin a game all they want, but they can't turn a 1v4 into a 2v3. People admit daily they put on friends only messaging solely bcuz of toxic survivors.
Truth. I have never, not even once, gotten lashed in messaging by a Killer. I get it from Survivors about 50% of the time. Even when I'm playing Survivor.

Not sure why that's a problem.
It's a problem because currently, the wait time for a lobby as a Killer is significantly longer than the wait time as a Survivor.
Also, with regard to the OP, when 4 Survivors line up in the lobby with flashlights, they are looking to punk the Killer, early and often. Best to reshuffle that deck yourself when you see it. Or run Lightborn, and punk them instead. :)
