Solo is unplayable, something needs to be done about weak teammates

What are your suggestions? In nearly 3 years of playing DBD on my part, this has always been an issue. Probably always will be, too. SO, I just adapt my play to the play of the pub Survivors....i.e. I end up playing 'Lone Wolf Nea' most of the time.

Well, my caveat to this is I play Myers, and a LOT of Spooky Myers. I find Thrill of the Hunt helps me locate and home in on the Survivors really fast at the start (when pulling a big map). I've found there is a distinct difference in how many grabs I get when I run Thrill of the Hunt and when I don't. I expect it would be wasted on a higher mobility Killer, but for me.... Thrill, Ruin, Undying work VERY well. The audible warning when my Totem's gets touched swings me the right direction to see the Aura Undying shows off, and I can make a more accurate beeline.

For me, the first minute of the game is pivotal. Myers snowballs, and he is weakest early game. So, my suggestion comes with the context of this.... :)

If you're playing Peek-A-Boo, you can accomplish the same thing(better, really IMO) with Whispers, and save a hex totem.

  • I actually think they should bring back the 'Timeout' penalty for DCing. It worked pretty well from my point of view....I saw way less DCing when that was in play.

  • LOL! I have a love/hate relationship with Nurse as a Survivor. There's very little grey area in a match vs. Nurse. Either she's gonna be a fish and it's Bloodpoint Heaven. Or, the Nurse knows what she's doing.....in which case, none of the Survivors are going to live.

On the flip side, there is little in this game that is more satisfying than managing to make a competent Nurse break off the chase. :)

I feel like I'm at an incredible disadvantage when solo survivor. I uploaded a video where I ran the killer for 5 minutes and only a single gen was done. Also in this game a survivor had disconnected. Solo survivor is just unfun.

I'm never matched up with players that are good or as good as me. It's always players who urban around the map or cant hold a chase. When I'm hooked I've been left to die or left to get second state.

Out of all the swf post solo is not talked about enough. Solo is very bad right now. It's so bad that it encourages swf play because you rather not play with bad randoms.

Just a short rant solo is just bothering me lately.

I feel your pain. The problem, in my opinion, is that about 80% of Survivors in solo games are brain dead. That is true on my platform(PS4)and I haven't seen much difference since cross-platform play went live.

My response to this has been to go sort of 'Lone Wolf'. I usually play Nea, who has all the Survivor perks, and I use her to earn BP for my other Survivors. The build I use with her, I call "Nea The Ninja'. It's Urban Evasion, Iron Will, Distortion and Premonition, all rank 3 of course. I also use the darkest clothing I can find, no derpy cosmetics(You would be very surprised at how well that works on most maps; I have Killers walk literally right past me on a regular basis, sometimes multiple times in a single match). I don't alter that build unless a challenge I'm doing calls for a specific perk to be used....that perk will usually replace Distortion in my build.

So basically, in a public, non-SWF game, I look out for Number One first. I try to put some distance between myself and the other Survivors as the match starts(Killer is frequently using Discordance anyway, so teaming up on a gen immediately is not usually the smart move. I find my own gen, taking out any Totems I find along the way if I can do it safely. I make judicious use of lockers and good nooks for hiding to stay off the Killer's radar as much as possible. I will save Survivors who get hooked close to me if/when I can do so safely....further away, I'll go after them if it fits into my game to do so(and again, if I can do it safely). I will usually not drop a gen, etc. to cross clear over to the other side of the map to make a save, unless the hooked Survivor has begun to struggle(as opposed to trying to escape, which they should rarely do).

If the other dips--t Survivors are going to rush hooks, end up trading places on the hook with the Survivor they just saved, and otherwise play Footsie with the Killer and give the Killer free points, then they can do so on their own. I'll start gens, cleanse totems, open chests, earning as many BP as I can. And then I'll try to get the hatch, or failing that, try to fake out the Killer at an exit gate.

NOW.....I get A LOT of salt from other Survivors post-match who feel that I should have been dive-bombing hooks with the rest of the squadron. But that's ok. I usually pip, and they usually lose one.

I play solo queue almost exclusively when I play survivor, at the purple ranks/fringe red ranks (5/4), and it really doesn't happen to me often at all. I'm pretty sure the people that claim they get tunneled every single game are the ones that are clicking flashlights, teabagging at every pallet, and noise spamming. 99% of toxicity in this game comes from survivors

+1 on the Survivor Toxicity claim.

Just some background since I'm new to the forums; I've been playing DBD for going on three years now(PS4). I guess I'm a Survivor Main...nearly all Survivors at 50, several at P3 level 50. All but 3-4 Killers at 50, but have never bothered to grind out Prestige with Killers. Have been to red ranks as both Survivor and Killer several times; these days I tend to hover around the purple ranks.

As a Survivor, I'm not toxic, at least not IMO. I don't spam flashlights, I don't exploit bad loop design, I don't sell out fellow Survivors to the Killer(pointing at occupied lockers, intentionally dumping the Killer on another Survivor)I don't body block hooks, etc. I may point once or twice at the Killer at a gate before exiting, which in my view is more akin to spiking the football after a touchdown than being toxic. All told, I do find myself being camped or tunneled about 30% of the time. It seems that in most cases either the Killer is not good enough to play any other way, or simply just can't learn to do so. It happens. What are ya gonna do? If I feel that a Killer has been unsportsmanlike or exploitative, I flag them as such at the end of the match, for whatever that is worth, and move on.

As a Killer, I also don't see myself as toxic. In general, I hook and leave unless I'm pretty sure there's a Survivor waiting near the hook(I'm sure I just heard a locker close!, etc). If I catch a save, I try to go for the Survivor making the save rather than the one being saved, because of Borrowed Time, Decisive Strike and other such boondoggles. That said, if a particular Survivor is being overly toxic or disruptive in my estimation(Flashlight Spamming, Locker/Pallet/Window exploitation, loop exploitation, selling out teammates, etc), I WILL(not might...WILL)turn my attention solely to them, and they will have gained my attention until they are sacked....even at the expense of the game on my part.

  • This one is real simple. They make it far too easy for griefers to grief.
