  • It's my "magic word" and website. (one of my many occupations is professional magician)

  • I am gonna be cheeky and say The Angry Princess (However yes the Jackyl is the obvious answer)

  • So is matchmaking officially bugged? (Have the devs said anything anywhere about it?)

  • When I see corn I see frustration in my future...

I was trying some of the new (koff)totallyfairandnotatallluckbased(koff) rift challenges and I got 4 maps in a row that basically prevented me from doing them. At that point I turned off the game and did something else less aggravating... like chinese algebra.

All I want is a consistent 60 FPS on Xbox. But frame rates get worse each update.

We need another game health update.

No no no. You need more COSMETICS! That will improve your experience ten fold!

  • I have stepped away for a bit if that answers your question.

  • I have the opposite problem. I have decided to step away because of a few things (The new "fun" rift challenges, general game health, nothing that new that's engaging). I used to play every day, now it will be every few days just to do dailies.

This game has SO much potential and the designs of the killers and some of the cosmetics are great but... they just can't (or won't) make this game balanced or solid and after a while it's just diminishing returns. I won't STOP playing but I can't just sit and play for hours anymore.

I know when I am in an abusive relationship.

  • Things like this mean you have to get lucky playing the way you usually do or play like a PoS. I don't like it and neither do a lot of people.

The Dark Sense one is slowly killing me on the inside because I play solo.

after 18 games with a single dc completely running the match in it its hard to want to play this game anymore especially with how bad the frames are on console and this is coming from someone who has every achievement for the base game and all the adepts

I'm not sure I will ever do this challenge as it forces me to play a certain way I don't want to. For those who got it, good for you. I'm happy you pulled it off but quite frankly it's not worth it to me for what you get. Any of the "be scummier than you usually play" challenges just make me not wanna play. (I'm not saying those who get it are scummy by the way. It's just how they feel.)

  • The last few days for me has been nothing but 3-4 SWF and right now my motivation to play every day is just gone. After a while this game just gets.... grating(?) without a purpose to play other than "to play". I will likely jump on more when the next rift pops up but after that... who knows. This is how I felt back when legion came out. I just kinda lost interest due to a lackluster killer and bad balance and bugs and stepped away for a number of months.

Oni was not enough of a temptation either. He feels bland for me personally so I don't even have that new content to entice me. I am thinking when Last Year improves a few things I am gonna move over to that for a while.

  • Posts like these always a use me. Everyone who admits to using comms always says "Oh we NEVER use comms to talk about the game going on in front of us."

With so many good-hearted, fair and unbiased people playing this game I don't understand how it's a problem for anyone. Must be a bug.

"We prefer to analyze a character for some time after release, before buffing or nerfing them"

    Or in layman's terms,

"Thank you for alpha testing our product and doing our jobs for us. In return, We appreciate customer's like you who don't desire to purchase a finished product: please accept our massively overpriced cosmetics and the fact there are key features that adversely affect all aspects of the game which we will continue to ignore, as a show of our appreciation".

The PTB seems to have become a glorified commercial for the game and upcoming content. Streamers get it, play it well and get others excited to buy. Yes things get fixed too but it's usually things that shouldn't have existed in the first place.

As you said, it's free play testing, (which is something many people have griped about in the past), and if they had proper amounts of play testing before release a lot of these issues wouldn't make it to PTB. It does feel like they see this stuff and say "we'll fix it in post" or whatever.

I know a number of us appreciate the work BHVR does on the games and they do good things but the bad is starting to outweigh the good in many people's eyes, at least those who care enough to come here and voice concerns, ideas, and feedback (even if that feedback comes in a less than tactful way).

  • I used to get tilted like you wouldn't believe at SWF and now I just laugh and shake my head at the people who wanna play on "easy mode" with comms. They crack me up how their idea of fun is to bully someone else for their "amusement". It makes me wonder if the rest of their life is just very sad and playing a game like this is the only feeling of control they have.

  • My main reason is not on there which is "Whenever I damn well feel like it".

Some times I feel bad for a player who got screwed over, some times I can tell they are new and should have it, and some times I just decide to out of sheer chaotic neutral fun.

So I was playing a game as clown for a ritual and it was 1 generator left (typical clown) and 3 survivors alive. I have a 3 gen with Pop so I was confident I could get at least a 3k. Then boom I see them all 1 by one escape thanks to a random key they found in a chest. Then they be toxic in endgame chat. I just don’t see how it’s fair that multiple survivors can escape from the hatch. I feel like after opening the hatch with a key, it closes immediately. So 1 escape, 1 key. That’s fair to me. Of course this would mean a nerf to moris and I am perfectly fine with that. I just think the ability to just win the game with one item is just unfair for the killer. Not a killer main, nor survivor, in between. Any thoughts about this?

1 key per survivor is something I have been suggesting/wanting for months now. It's how it should've been from the get go.

Mori after second hook should be the norm too. Moris are purely amusement and aesthetic and should be able to be done when the survivor is gonna die anyway.

All of us have been suggesting and pushing for this stuff for how long now? Is it really that hard to move some 1s and 0s around to make it happen? FFS put it in the PTB like they did the first hatch closing idea and let people play with it. I would like an "experimental" PTB where random out there ideas get tried to see how they play in live fire. The current PTB is basically a commercial for the content at this point.

  • Personally I feel DS should not activate if the survivor jumps in a locker to prevent it from being a bully perk (which it can be and don't pretend it isn't).

That aside, here is what is going to happen, (and already is quite frankly): Killers will be forced to adapt as usual and will now just assume EVERYONE has it and thus tunnel off the hook, eat the DS to avoid it's use at the end and thus a losing end game, and then chase that person down. It's becoming a tunnel encouragement just to get rid of it because of the abuse of it. Don't believe me? I have seen many proficient streamers doing this already. They do it, and thus their viewers will start to do it, ad nauseum.

It will eventually not be enough because it wasn't nipped in the bud early on like many other problems in this game.

I’d like this idea but I want to take it a couple of steps further. In an older version of the fighting game Dead or Alive, the final boss had the ability to change the seasons during the match. It would probably be too much for this game but it would be nice if the devs could figure out a way to change the environment every time someone gets hooked or dies.

We could have different seasons in versions of the map. Badham II is summer, Badham V is fall, etc.

  • I have seen so many people DCing when they see they are the obsession just to avoid getting tunneled/Mori'd. It's super sucky for survivors and I am a killer main saying this.

  • Maybe a map where the day/night cycle is sped up so the longer a match goes you see sunrises and sunsets so you get both?

  • @TAG said:

I've had the inverse problem with grabs: I as killer clearly begin the grab animation, only for the grab to just be cancelled and not even count as a hit instead.

Same. From totems, hooks and anywhere you can nab someone.

  • I just want the F13 game to come back. For the love of the Entity, sell it to someone else who can breathe new life into it after the lawsuit!

  • The skill level is higher on PC thus the amount of salt you collect is a bit higher as well. Do yourself a favor and keep that post-game chat window closed unless you know the other players won't be D-bags.

The upside is the controls are WAY more responsive on PC.

Yeah bp offerings dont count towards the challenge, sadly

WHICH IS DUMB! (Ahem) sorry. I'll just be over here now.

  • Agreed. Leave it in and put it in the main lobbies. If you choose one thing the community wants, make it be this.

  • I prefer to call it "baiting the hook". You are luring another survivor to your location.

The survivors do it all the time. They try to bait you into a chase by purposfully failing a skill check or sending a good looper to get you away from the area in a chase. Throwing a body on a hook and patrolling the area and waiting for someone to come is the killer equivalent in my opinion.

Having said that, face camping is a waste of time and effort. Don't do that. Don't stand nose to nose with the hooked person.

  • Hence why I said "unless they plan to tie some sort of event to every new rift." My wording was just bad before it.

This is totally not a hill I'm willing to die on, but it's something that continuously bugs me, so I'm bringing it up here:

Clown and Legion don't match their themes.

I think everyone knew a clown character was coming eventually, and was looking forward to something along the lines of Pennywise or classic Joker, carrying a giant mallet, and probably incorporating balloons, or maybe forcing survivors to laugh a'la Doctor's screams. The actual clown being a tubercular fat man with a pocket knife who throws smoke bombs and collects fingers is a little confusing. I think in a perfect world this character would be renamed to something else, and the moniker "Clown" would be reused later for a more Clown-like killer (or literally Pennywise who's probably coming out in a month or two given DBD's stellar track record for licensed characters).

Legion was clearly a quick win to reuse assets from Deathgarden to make a new killer, but it seems half-baked. The entire theme is that Legion is a gang along the lines of "Them", but you only ever see one member at a time. Obviously it would be way too much work to try to have the killer player control multiple characters at once, but even having other gang members passively watching the match from the sidelines would help a lot thematically. Even better would be to let the killer "tag in" other gang members for some benefit, contributing to the conceit that they're a gang working together even though the player only controls one of them at a time.

Anyway, thanks for reading my most pedantic complaint about DBD.

Oh man I would LOVE to have seen the other members sitting on the walls of the match watching you (and even taking a swipe at you when you get too close). I do feel legion had a LOT of missed opportunities. Even having all 4 involved in the mori would have been nice.

  • I'd rather see images or video with the lore. The text based stuff is uninspiring and feels like it's not worth grinding for. Also, charms are... meh to me.

After the blight event is over, there will be a lot of dead space in the free track and, while I don't expect it to be full like paid because "money is your god" and all that, it will be even less motivational to play for it unless they plan to tie some sort of event to every new rift.

  • Well if your argument is "it's an achievement" then what about mori all 4 with Myers, the one that is the most well known hard to do? "It'S sUpPoSeD tO bE a ChAlLeNgE" and all that. You play survivor or killer more my dude? Let's put some perspective spin on this. Inquiring minds want to know.

Since there's an achievement for everyone escaping through the hatch they can't make it 1 key 1 escape.

Really because I have seen videos where EVERYONE found a key in a chest so...

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/803794#Comment_803794

That's exactly my point. By focusing on them this much, you aren't a casual player. There's nothing wrong with that though. But by the 4th level in the tome, I should hope that the challenges would be this difficult. That way that take at least the rest of the time to complete, possibly longer. The current challenges many people were able to finish in a day, which while theres nothing wrong with that, I'd like to see the challenges pick up in difficulty.

I don't mind a "challenge" either BUT there is a fine line between what is challenging based on skill and challenging based on being a time suck.

  • I understand no hatch grabs for the EGC trigger, but until they make the hatch 1 key = 1 survivor escape instead of EVERYONE, I wish they would allow hatch grabs when opened with a key. Right now keys have no counterplay (and don't anyone say franklin's) and the chests are giving them out like mad lately.

Something being hard doesn't mean it suddenly isn't going to be consumer friendly. As a whole, the Archives still are casual friendly. Almost all of the challenges you can do passively through games with little or no thought put into them (albeit it will take a few games to do) and you can get all the way to the end of the rift as well.

If you want to complete every challenge, you are NOT playing casually. You are no longer in the same boat, and challenges SHOULD be harder.

They were not lying, I would still say what they said is true.

That's not entirely true. You don't just randomly unlock them as you play (like steam achievements). You have to focus on one in particular. You have to have that goal in mind so it affects your gameplay decisions. Now if I could unlock them through play randomly, I'd be fine with that. Some of these are just... un-fun to even think of attempting.

  • I want to see their hard data. I would love them to release monthly stats on what's being used, who is being used, and other details. They have done it so very randomly here and there but I think putting that info in the monthly dev streams would be beneficial to all of us understanding what is going on.

  • @Dr_Loomis said:

The way I see it is that if I don't get all the unlockables...so what:

-I can listen/view the 'lores' on youtube.

-I have plenty of good skins already.

-I don't give two hoots about the charms/hanging items.

So yeah...I like doing the challenges for the extra bloodpoints but not overly bothered if I don't get all the trinkets.

Same. The "rewards" aren't rewarding enough.

It’s funny; the killers I recognize as rank 1s have all played standard games or just wanted to farm. The purple rank killers are the ones bringing ebony moris, face camping, and DCing if their Ruin goes down.

I'm in purple too and that is where I am getting the most "loaded for bear" SWF teams I have seen in a while.

Gawd forbid I play after 12-1am PST, there is a SIGNIFICANT and noticable difference in the survivors.

  • @Mert_MK said:

Could be better, losers that bring mori's, facecamp, tunnel, broken add ons and all that.

Luckily doesnt bother me much in SWF since we just troll for WGLF stacks and focus on the archive challenges.

I haven't tried Killer yet but i'm not looking forward to it.

Could be better. Loser SWF every match that bring adrenaline, DS, OoO, and try hard addons.

Trust me, playing killer right now SUCKS. Stick to trolling with yer friends. You will be much happier.

What I dont like is that u have to play both roles to get all the fragments from the challenges. A lot of us don't like to play survivor or killer. For example I suck so bad at playing killer. So I won't complete most of the killer challenges. Of course u can try to farm, but find people who are willing to. Everytime I've tried to farm for a killer daily survivors didn't want to. Sure, cause it's boring af so I couldn't blame them. So imagine me completing killer master challenges...first I would have to grind through a killer's bloodweb to get noed for example. And we all know that waiting for a specific perk to appear in the bloodweb can be a pain in the a...So it might happen that I have to spend BP on a role I don't like to play, just to get noed to complete that challenge, which, in my case, will never happen, cause I'm the worst killer ever. And the amount of fragments you'll get by just playing the game is ridiculous. And like @InfinyMage already said: DC is real and will be worse, cause people will be more salty, because the paid for it. First I didn't like the idea of a battlepass. Then since the ptb I was sooooo excited for it, but after all the math I'm like :(

This is my feeling too. I play killer only and so my survivors are pretty much useless out of the gate. It also doesn't thrill me to play them. I have and I can but...

  • I am always amused by the mentality on the internet of "my opinion should be your opinion". Everyone thinks there has to be a "winner" in an argument/discussion instead of just shaking hands and saying well we don't see eye to eye so let's look at something else.

That aside, some of the arguments I see here are "They need to keep the lights on and make money etc" but a lot of you might be too young to remember video games before DLC and micro-transactions. There was a time when skill would net you rewards, not just your pocket book. Those companies made plenty of money by having good games without any of what we have today. For fun reading, see how it all started here- https://www.usgamer.net/articles/the-history-of-gaming-microtransactions-from-horse-armor-to-loot-boxes

I know "times they are a-changin' and this is the world we live in now" and all that but dismissing it that way is like someone saying, "Dhamer? Oh yeah he eats people. That's just how he is. Its fine. He's wacky". (If you don't get the reference, google it) Don't accept the things you don't like. That's how we got where we are politically.

We need to speak up and if the new system is governed by money, vote with your bank account. Don't just give in and say "Oh well I guess...". If you like it, buy it. If not... don't. Times will tell and the community needs to speak up collectively if they don't like something. Let the people who do like it stand in the back and shake their heads at you (and vice versa).

TL;DR: Pay for the rift or don't. Just stop thinking you are right and everyone else is wrong. The old days are gone and we have to learn how to navigate the new system to work FOR us.

  • The biggest problem I have found with her is a team who knows what they are doing. I went up against a 4 man SWF a while back who didn't cleanse until all gens were done then they ALL cleansed at once which... sucked. (more than usual when it comes the SWF) Mind you I didn't have a ton of good perks on her as I had recently gotten around to leveling her up but yeah...

Yeah, that’s a mechanic that DBD doesn’t have. But then again, it’d totally wreck the purpose of escaping lol

To be fair, F13 had both but it wasn't easy to do... at first.

  • I kickstarted HOD and what the game has become was a bit... lacking. They relased a backer beta and based off some very bad feedback, changed the game entirely that they pitched on Kickstarter. This made some people feel a bit betrayed.

Enough people complained and they added the old game mode back in but the game felt SUPER rushed. They had this release date that, to me, seemed unreasonable for the state it was in. When they released in early access I tried it and was underwhelmed. Many concerns and points everyone, including myself, had said and predicted in the Discord kinda came true.

The best thing about the game was the atmosphere. Actually hiding from the killer could be tense. However, once he found you, you were pretty much toast. For me everything felt stiff and sluggish.

This is the problem we are at now with early access beta testing. Using players to beta test your game can backfire big time if they all dislike it. They don't have NDAs or loyalty and will tell the world and then your game tanks.

I miss F13 a lot. I feel it had more variety for different playstyle depending on the kind of gamer you were. DBD can feel a little 2 dimensional at times but HOD is just plain flat in it's current state.

TL;DR: No, HOD won't hobble DBD in the slightest.

  • I'm excited/curious to see how this will work out. When I see all these whiny survivor posts all I really hear is:
