@Powerbats then Gen rush. I rarely ever see unprovoked camping because it's a terrible strategy. I hate camping just as much as the next person. I usually suicide on the hook. But it's not effective. If a killer hard camps there's no reason you shouldn't get at least 3 gens done.

I'm referring to the soft camping also known as patrol camping when teh killer doesn't see any auras like I could be right at 28 meters while the other 2 are perfectly hidden. The killer then patrols around the immediate hook area always unde the 16-20 meter range.

  • @KingB said:
@Powerbats were you on the closest gen? I've seen them behind a gen, it's definitely a counter that takes quite a bit of skill. I fully advocate having thicker gen auras.

Actually I've been on gens with different distances before and thicker auras might help but then the killer still assumes someones close and camps.

  • @KingB said:
@Powerbats hiding behind gens is one of the counters to BBQ that takes more skill. It's rare to see all 4 survivors do it. I'm perfectly fine with making Gen auras thicker. I worded that wrong, it doesn't explicitly tell you but it can be reasonably assumed. I understand that, but that is still weak.

I've been perfectly behind a gen while I can clearly see someone in the distance in the ope to the killer but the killer comes right to me. It wasn't even a case of angles either I was dead center and crouched with Claudette and post game killer said they saw my auras a few times.

I've hooked people and seen people behind a gen as well and having a slightly larger gen aura would be nice.

  • @KingB said:
@Powerbats that's a nerf. How can you phrase it otherwise? You don't get the hard aura reading and it's for less time? Ok cool, I know that no one is within 20 meters. Except current BBQ does that but to a lesser extent. If I don't see 3 auras I can assume someone is close by. Most of the time there isn't a direct path. This is in spite of the fact BBQ is fine now.

How does it tell you if no one is close now when you just said earlier that you can hide behind gens just fine? It doesn't tell you someone is close or not, it just tells you that you can't see anyone. You can assume someone is close but that doesn't mean they are especially given as you said they could be hiding behind a gen.

You get 4 seconds of hard aura reading within that 16-20 meters or so and then 2 seconds of location based like Doctors screams or even 4 since it'll be a general area.

  • Perhaps @Orion could give some maths input on this since can't figure out a way to put this into a mathematical format properly.

  • Whoops wrong thread comment.

  • @KingB said:
@powerbats most gens can be used to hide. We can say that sure, but first we have to admit if someone is downed regularly and hooked the perk is fine. We can't use the minority to justify the majority.

That's actually not always accurate since it all depends on where the person being hooked and whether they got grabbed off a gen, out of a locker etc. If someone gets hooked at even a slight angle the gen doesn't block your aura to the killer.

  • @KingB said:
@Powerbats that's still only 16 meters. Just because it's a hard aura reading doesn't mean it is good. Nurses Calling is 28m. 16 meters is such a small distance. If it wasn't, boil over would be a good perk. I don't know the exact distance, but 16m is laughable. It's not broken now. Rarely ever is there a straight path to a survivor. Even then killer has to charge ability, and they don't get there instantly (except nurse with distance add-ons). I saw that, you get what 1 second? That's also insanely small. This is such a massive nerf to an already balanced perk.

16 was in mind but 20 is better but 28 is way too much in close and the distance one is 2 seconds but not a hard reading but more a general location like the Doctors screams. With a general location 2 seconds is ok but perhaps 3 but again high mobility killers can get there too easy.

You keep saying massive nerf but don't look at the overall benefits to what you can do. .If you don't have to patrol camp if you know for a fact no ones within say 20 meters of the hook.

24 meters is make your choice range and also M&A range for a camping killer.

You'd also still get distance reading but it would last less time for a exact location or more time for a general location.

  • @ChesterTheMolester said:
I had a similar idea but got bashed for it.

But yes reverse the effect, reveal all auras within like 24-32m for 4 seconds. It would still serve the same purpose, make better decisions, save Killers time, and most importantly punish and scare the ######### out of overaltruistic survivors and hookswarmers.

24-32 might be a little rough and the reason I went with 16 although 20 might be better is that's the distance between hooks. On say small maps if you hook in middle of street 16 meters is still a good distance and same for larger maps. 20 meters is a good meeting point, not too far but not too little either.

The 20 meters is probably better because you can't game the distance by standing right behind another hook but it also still gives survivors a chance. The killer knows he can safely leave the hook area and go after someone in the distance.

The issue now is everyone swarms under the reading range due to all the issues with BBQ now where you don't have a gen facing the correct direction. You also get caught in the open area and you can't really hide and saying change directions is fine except when the killer can run right to you before you get out of the area.

I've tried hiding behind gens as the killer mains all say and killers will tell em they can see my outline plain as day post game because the gen aura didn't cover me. If you manage to hide behind the gen well guess what the killer is going to come straight to the gens not powered.

Because saying just change directions doesn't work on certain killer, especially wide open maps like the hated cornfields. Billy says hi or even Auto Heaven where he can race across the map with ease.

  • As a survivor when someone does it I won't go out of my way to rescue them since it just puts me at a disadvantage since they've gotten the killers interest. If it's safe to get them sure but if the killer is camping them and i don't have BT you're screwed.

  • @KingB said:
@Nickenzie but the aura reading as of now is fine. There's what 8 counters? Ardetha counted them on stream the other day.

Some gens can't be hidden behind due to facing so you're screwed on those.

Someone gets grabbed out of a locker you don't know they're about to get hooked so you don't have any chance of hiding or getting close.

  • @KingB said:
The current BBQ is fine. The aura-reading is mediocre, but the bp bonus is what makes it worth it. It is strong on killers like spirit, billy, and nurse, but not too strong. There usually isn't a clear path to a survivor you spot with BBQ. You just get the general area if not. It's a time saver, instead of having to patrol all the gens you can catch survivors if they are lazy. It helps apply gen pressure. This perk isn't necessary to do so but it helps. If you want a rework you have to have the new version just as strong as the old or then it's a buff or a nerf. This is a nerf because 16m is essentially nothing. People that hide from BBQ hide at the edge of the terror radius (from my experience). 16m is half of the terror radius. This rework allows the same counterplay, but a worse overall perk. 2 seconds? That's enough time to catch someone if they aren't behind a gen and are just standing there. You get so little use out of BBQ if you use it to tell if people are around the hook. Survivors already have time to fake their direction, with 1-2 seconds you don't even need to. This seems like a massive nerf. If I misunderstood something please elaborate.

You have 16 meters from you which is the distance from the hook to the next hook plus your character model so 17 meters. That's a hard aura reading meaning you see anyone under that distance thus you know if it's safe to leave the hook or not.

Then the last change I'd made still gives you the distance reading but with a reduced timer so the speedy killer aren't so broken. Instead of being an exact location it changes to a general location similar to Doctor's madness screams.

  • @Nickenzie said:

I agree, there should be an option called "destroy". The killer points at the item or chest and the Entity traps it with its tentacles for X amount of seconds. After those X amount of seconds, the item or chest is destroyed by the Entity but... survivors can cleanse the chest or item while it's trap to free it from destruction.

Well how about this instead, the killer can channel like you said with the break like on a gen but instead of destroying it it's damaged instead.

The effect would be that the chest that normally takes say 15 seconds to open now takes 30 and the chest has a damaged appearance.

Bonus effect: When a chest that has been damaged has been opened by a survivor the killer can close the chest to make it appear that it hasn't been opened before. You walk up to the chest similar to a gen and hit spacebar and it'll close the chest without making noise.

  • @Rebel_Raven said:
I don't entirely believe it will work. Part of the allure of BBQ is that it shows people far off to go after. It gives them a general idea of where to go. Without that, they'll have to wonder if it's better to camp knowing someone is coming eventually, or the game is screwed and they'll have to secure a kill, or wander off blindly.

Also, this would lead to the reverse of what happens now. Survivors going away from the hook to get out of range, then just going back in immediately once the timer s up, wouldn't it?

The best way to go, IMO, is just to give it a massive AOE that shows auras near and far. Especially with several new aura blocking abilities on the horizon.
Yeah, it seems powerful that way, but knowing no one is near the hook, and they're all out there is strong encouragement to leave the hook. It removes the part that can turn the killer into a paranoid wreck.
This way the killer knows if anyone is close, or not, and can react accordingly with a target to go after.

For the far that's why i suggested near the end is a aura or location perk for the distance but with the limited timer to balance it out. The general location similar to Rancor (thanks for that one @Nickenzie ) is a better idea since as i said Billy/Nurse/Spirit can charge across the map to get you.

So in this case you get the close in hard aura reading and the outer location reading which will still show you people far off. Both sides get the best of both worlds with balance and killer don't feel like someones close. While survivors don't feel like they have to hook rush to stay under the aura thus making the killer feel like they have to stay close.

  • I like the token thing but I can already see the killer complaints about perk slots being used up especially when Franklin's already takes off % of durability. There's also teh it takes time off of doing gens, chases etc complaint. But there's ways to address that and perhaps make the perk better or even combine it with another perk.

I'll post some ideas later, about to eat dinner haha.

  • @Peasant said:
@powerbats Just to clarify, your proposed changes will shift BBQ and Chili into a superior Territorial Imperative, correct? This just begs the question, what will you do to Territorial Imperative then?

Personally, I'd love this sort of change, but unless I'm horribly mistaken this perk partially exists through Territorial Imperative so unless you can change both perks I'm afraid that you'll be killing Territorial off.

Well Territorial works for basements only whereas this is BBQ both inverted while also retaining some of it's normal outward utility. Territorial will still be the best for basement builds but for BBQ builds this will work great and compliment Territorial really well.

I mean can you imagine the inverted BBQ, with Insidious Leatherface?

More bloodpoints is never the answer, it is only a band-aid solution.

Yet killers all say they want more blood points, especially when versing swf so if this is a band aid solution what would you propose then? Most killers say BBQ doesn't reward enough blood points right now.

  • @Dragonredking said:
First I want to apologise for how short my answer will be to your huge post.

But I doubt it would change anything appart from survivor not giving a ######### about bbq anymore.

People that would have camp with the old BBQ would still camp with your revised BBQ because survivor will still want to go for the hook rescue because of the JUICY 1250 unhook point.

People that camp are either feedup of chasing a survivor around.
Or the door are open and he know that if they manage to unhook they won't catch them back or a replacement
Or they know for a fact survivor are going to greed other the unhook point or don't want to leave their mate to die
Or just because they want to.

You can give perk (or change them) to give incentive to leave the hook or punish them, they still won't move.
Because if they have an habit of camping chance are they won't use perk that try to make them not camp and won't care about punishment especially something as laughable as losing a tiny bit of emblem point (seriously BHVR da [BAD WORD] where you smoking when you decided to do that change)

Well for the hardcore campers it won't change anything, nothing really ever will until there's a punishment that fits the crime so to speak.

This is for the people that camp because bbq doesn't show an aura thus they think rightly or wrongly someones close to the hook. This assures them that hey no one is right next to me and thus I can go after someone who's in the distance.

There's no need to patrol camp at that point and the bbq bonus is a biber buff than currently is there thus giving even more incentive to move.

every chest being a silent alarm would be a bit much. maybe have a few of them produce skill checks to disarm a trap or something.

Agreed, I'm thinking that if 4 chests normally spawn 2 extras could spawn with silent alarms and you need a skill check to disarm it. But then at the same time if you know it's got an alarm you may just fail to distract the killer or sandbag a teammate wanting that chest.

The only reason I'd put skill checks on chests is to be able to open and close them silently and quicker since otherwise that defeats the purpose of having a alarmed chest.

  • I always laugh since I know they're going to do it and it just make sit that much more satisfying when you destroy them. I don't tunnel them per se but I also make sure if i'm in a chase with them they're dropping onto my hook.

You can't see temporary game bans and just because you think something should happen doesn't mean it will. You don't get to decide the punishment.
    thats what you said
now My post is clearly about a racist person with evidence and me expecting a punishment
then you come and say just because I THINK it doesnt mean it should be ??

You specifically said you expected a ban. They may or may not ban the person, I don't know. My point is that just because you expect a ban doesn't mean one will actually come through. Even if it does, you have no way of knowing unless it's a permanent ban, and even that doesn't mean the person was banned because of your particular report.

To add to this depending on the severity as i said determines the level of punishment given. It could be a 1 off thing where the person has a stellar record before that. In that case they might just give them a warning which is what @Orion was probably also trying to say.

  • @harry14141414 said:
Ok so basically no one likes Racism right ?
so in post game chat some guy started saying bad words extremely racist words like the N word and also some really foul language and swearing
    I submit a ticket
and also provide the picture of the conversation and the offender name is clearly showing and I submit his steam ID and everything
I get a message from some guy named Ryuti saying that relevant actions will be taken (if necessary )
and the case is now is marked as solved
BUT GUESS WHAT FAM ! the guy did not receive any ban ! I'm not saying ban him lifetime but a soft ban would be nice because if he said it to me he probably says it to anyone !!!
why do we take our time and submit tickets ( which consume time ) if even stuff like Racism isn't punishable ??????????

I've dealt with many of the mods on here and the message is always the same since due to privacy reason they can't discuss punishments etc. The case is marked as solved because they've got your report and now it's up to their support team to review things.

Just because it's marked as solved doesn't mean that person isn't going to be punished once they finish checking their account chat history. Was this an isolated incident or a pattern or repeated behavior since that can determine the severity of the punishment.

The reason you submit reports and tickets is to make sure the info is passed along, and then you leave it up to the support staff to take their time and due diligence. Would you like someone to claim hey you did x and then say ban him and they just turn around and ban you without checking 1st?

Lastly they don't take screenshots as evidence since those can be manipulated, they have the actual chat logs to review. Be aware the person will get punished for the bad behavior but not on your timetable but theirs to ensure it's done properly.

Nerf aura reading killer perks by lockers and the new perk but not object for swf? Dosent sound fair at all.

I think object will get touched though since it probably wasn't intended, and what all the people flaming forget it's not even been a week yet. They have to look at the data over the last week here and then make changes from their based upon that and the feedback that's CONSTRUCTIVE 😜and then buff/nerf things.

There's a great example of that working with the Spirit, most of us said she need a 15 sec base cooldown not 20 and they listened and agreed with us.

  • @MandyTalk said:
As someone who plunders regularly, I'd be quite happy to see more chests on the map (I normally use an offering), but can see it being an issue with some of the smaller maps - too much stuff with the chests for example totems, Saw boxes etc. So maybe one extra chest by default would be good.

I've always personally thought, that the basement chest should hold an item of increased rarity, risk vs reward sort of thing.

I'm the same way a chest and totem fiend, free points plus you can get some really good stuff occasionally. The basement chest usually does seem to give better items but sometimes it's a brown item.

On larger maps having 2-4 more chests spawn would be nice but then offerings would have to be tweaked On the other hand survivors searching chests is a good thing for killers since they're not on gens and usually not paying attention.

I've grabbed so many people looting chests that're so engrossed they're not paying attention and I've seen Myers stalking someone looting a chest and then grabbing them at the last second.

One thing that might be interesting to do would be have some of the extra chests would be alarmed so that anything other than the basement chest would have a silent alarm so to speak on it.

The killer would get a chest notification as in visual similar to the survivor perk that shows auras of chests being opened. If bonus chest offerings were used then more chests would be alarmed but the alarmed chests would of course have 1 higher rarity of item in them.

Yes because every swf group is a sweaty bunch of tryhards, and each time you and the rest use that argument you lose all credibility. It's the same thing after every PTB goes live the same arguments and lo and behold the sky isn't falling after all.

im not saying their all sweaty in fact gasp scandal i play sfw with a friend from time to time chill swf does exist im talking about the tryhards and how much more formidable they will be

Oh I understand that completely and i've run into some groups on both sides and even had some friends go full toxic tryhard with me in group. I'm not playing with the toxic tryhards anymore and when I do group up we do try but we try to have fun more than anything.

You never know and don't sell yourself short and we all make stupid posts from time to time. I probably have more than my fair share of said stupid posts. It's not just about time spent here but passion for the community, a mostly level head (don't use me as an example) and being helpful.

One thing I always try and tell everyone from when I've been a mod/admin etc is most of your work isn't banning but helping people. Oh sure you'll do that from time to time but helping others out is what makes it so rewarding.

So basically your fix to the hatch standoff is another standoff?
The survivor leads the killer to the hatch, killer cant close hatch cus of 5 sec animation, hatch standoff voila

No and I think you're misunderstanding him in this case and he very clearly said the survivor can't jump in while the killer is trying to close it.

The killer starts to close the hatch therefore the survivor can't interact with the hatch ie jump in since the killer now in this case has ownership of it. However that only persists as long as the killer finishes the animation from start to finish.

So in your scenario the survivor is there with killer right next to them, the killer moves closer to the hatch and starts the closing mechanic. Since the killer is in the way the survivor can't jump in unless the killer stops the closing sequence.

Now it'd have to have a cd to prevent the killer from just spamming it to screw with the survivor by starting/stopping it like a mori. It should instead be a once started you have to channel for the full 5 seconds type of thing. Although 7-10 seconds would be better of a channel to give the survivor a chance to run away provided they're actually within the radius of it.

The survivor could reopen the hatch but it'd have to channel it also for the exact same time and any interruption would reset it's progress to zero.

DS? Lol no you can easily get 4 solo survivors who all carry it. It has nothing to do with SWF.

Oh and as for you getting camped for trying to cleanse ruin...

Don't get me wrong, that sucks. It's never fun. Some advice going forward though, don't cleanse a totem if you spawn on it. 9 times out of 10 the killer will come running across the map to check on their totem and make sure a survivor didn't spawn on it. Much like gens you're better off waiting until they've done their patrol before you start cleansing it.

And you gotta admit it's not very fair to the killer to have survivors spawn on your totem. That's why they get salty. Its nobodys fault but the developers for having totems next to survivor spawns.

Yeah I literally have spawned looking at and within 2 steps of a Hex totem before including 2 nights ago and I've had times where it's a Billy and as I take 2 steps they're already at that location.

Well unless you count the people that swap over to the other side for faster lobbies like some have commented on doing. But I think survivors quitting is worse due to the higher volume of players since 4 is greater than 1.

All things being equal, one Survivor quitting is not as impactful (in terms of available lobbies) as one Killer quitting. That's all I'm saying.

Oh I agree I was referring more to 4 survivors quitting ratio since if it's 1 to 1 then that's not as bad overall. Now if you get it too lopsided on either side that'll create an imbalance.

Still supporting balance around mediocre player and keep the player that are good anyway with a big force multiplier.

There are even tons of steam groups to find teammates for DbD that do not show up in the friend list and go on discord anyway.

No he's telling you that you're blaming everything on swf when you're the problem because you dodge everything that looks like swf even when it's not. You're also totally ignoring the amount of high skilled teams is relatively small compared to the overall player base.

There's also tons of people that play swf without communicating and tons of solo players yet you want to blame everything on swf. Because unless you're up against a highly skilled swf most swfs can be beaten since they're highly predictable.

If' you're taking the bait then that's your own fault really, it's like the person with the flashlight and bright clothes always clicking it to get your attention. They want to get you riled up and chase them and not pay attention to the people doing gens etc.

You know like the matador with the flaming red cape taunting the bull which then ignores the very sharp pointy object the matador is holding behind said cape.

That's a flawed metaphor, because the OoO Troll is actually giving information to the other 3. If you leave him alone all game, they will abuse that recon.

    Actually that's incorrect …

Stopped reading right here, because this goes your usual route of "I know it all-you are wrong-it's a fact".

The usual I don't like what you said so I'm just going to ignore you routine, you completely ignored all valid points I made just because you couldn't counter them. As I said the smart killers use it to their advantage while the other ones don't.

As I noticed after Crusader mentioned you on that, you don't even know how it works, but call others "wrong"..
Stop making up your own world. If you don't know jack, just don't give bad advice.

Again you completely ignored what I said all so you could toss out your usual insults. You just can't admit that smart killers can use the perk against swf teams. I also gave good advice on how to use it, just because you can't or won't use it to your advantage means you don't know how it works to your advantage.

Don't jump the bandwagon and try to slap the new status effect on every killer.
We are talking beartraps that snap at your legs, right?
Why doesn't they all apply hindered without any add ons needed until fully healed?
That would give the killer more dangerous if he can start a chase after the guy escaped the trap.
So it would slow the game more down, since the survivor would want to hide until healed.

We used Deep wounds as an example not to slap on his bandwagon effect.

No, you completely glossed over the thread title and discussion just to throw out the bandwagon line. The thread is about disarming traps not about what happens when you get out.

The thread title is DISARMING TRAPS SHOULD DEEP WOUND as in when you disarm a trap it should cause a negative effect if you fail a skillcheck.

That was already suggested to give some kind of debuff if you disarm the trap, this has nothing to do with escaping the trap.

This part if failing a skill check on disarming the trap causing some kind of negative status effect until healed was discussed earlier.

Its definitely working when you're not looking at each other too. I used ir for the adept laurie achievement and many times saw the killer in a chase and they almost had their back to me.

I assume it's not quite 100% accurate on when you're looking at each other.

    You are right.

"If you are looking in the Killer's direction, your link will reveal your Auras IconHelp auras.png to each other.

This effect applies only if you are outside of the Killer's Terror Radius. "

    Oh wow you're right.

I always assumed we had to be looking at each other but that it was just a bit glitchy. Damn, they really can see your back though.

Not to mention that sole survivor is sometimes run with this so killing off one of their friends first actually gives these twerps a little bit of protection.

I never had it work that way when I was doing her adept achievement, i had to be looking at the killer and vice versa for it to work. The only time it worked like he said was when they turned around while moving and then turned back. When they turned back it stopped working as he claims but perhaps it does it sometime perhaps not.

As a killer I've never had an issue with people using it and as i said i used it to my advantage the same as using swf altruism against them.

Actually that's incorrect since it only works if you're looking at them at the same time, you can use that to your advantage really. If they're all grouped up with the person being the bait then it's like the dinner is served bell since you know they're all together.

Just look at the person go towards them then look away and change directions, use the information against them. I've watched killers follow the bait and get kited everywhere, other times they leave the obsession alone and tunnel someone else.

The really smart and sneaky killers use the bait as bait of their own and give the survivors information but on their terms. Sometimes they dive right in, other times they do a bait and switch, it's all about the mind games at that point.

  • I agree with @ChesterTheMolester mostly but i'd say a permanent speed boost from the obsession being down/hooked will just increase tunneling. You'd also introduce the I might as well dc if I'm going to get super hardcore tunneled/camped thought in.

If the person who's the obsession gets nailed early they're much more likely to dc'/suicide thus robbing you of that speed boost.

Sole Survivor should be a Hope haste effect overall but do you limit it however to the obsession only or if they die and someone else runs it then they get it?

I've actually got an idea for a BBQ rework I need to post for feedback.

Deep wound would inherently make you injured, which would basically mean a free bloody coil- one of the trappers best add-ons by a long shot. I think that would be a little much. The power of traps should come from luring someone into one without noticing, rather than to place them in obvious spots and punishing someone for disarming them.

I'd be okay with skill checks that injure/deep wound you if missed, though. That could be neat.

I love putting them in way out of the way places but hidden, someplace people would think is insane to place one. Then laugh when they step into it especially when you use the hard to escape addon along with an Iridescent Stone.

If you're fast enough you get them before they get out and people realize not to struggle out and down themselves. That works as a great surprise for the next unsuspecting sucker I mean victim on far side of map.

  • As @Malakir said it's much faster to work solo, especially with a TB unless you've got a group that's excellent at hitting skill checks. Throw in Ruin and or someone missing the skillcheck and you're working in reverse some.

  • I've gotten some interesting ahem messages as both killer and survivor even recently as this week or so where i was accused of cyber bullying among other things.

I just laughed it off and moved on and it takes a lot and I mean a lot to get me riled up so the toxicity doesn't set me off. That doesn't mean I don't report the bad stuff I do, but I also know when ppl are just blowing off steam.

If survivor is still running at you when you go ahead to get your CD done, then that survivor is a moron..

Agreed and having played against Legion on PTB the smart ones didn't waste a 2nd hit on you, they hit you went for anyone close and if no one was around played like Wraith. They'd get close and m1 you, bam you're down then hooked.

Feels like someone read similar comments one too many times.
    I understand the...frustration.
But without Survivors, we have no game either.
And that's not me saying some ridiculous behaviour is now justified, that's just me saying how it is.

Well said, both sides need the other and when one sides queues are long I swap to the other side and vice versa. I also never dodge a lobby not even 4 flashlights, I'll bring Franklins and or just bait them into wasting it. While i agree DS needs a change I don't get bothered by it since I'm almost always downing someone within 10-15 seconds anyways.

You'll win some and lose some whether it's 4 solo's o4 full 4 man swf, but if you don't face your issues you'll never solve them.

  • Deep wounds no, skill check yes and if you fail you get a mangled debuff that if you get hit makes you either bleed out quicker. You also moan more loudly until either healed similar to deep wounds or being injured.
