  • As a Jane main, I’m probably using her new skin. I hope it’s for shards because I can’t really afford to buy it right now.

As for killer, might use my Victorian Doc with baseball bat or Michael. I’m getting Hag’s outfit for the event.

  • @Mochan said:

I'm just saving them, period. Or more like hoarding them. I have like 70 of these cakes total among all my survivors.

Hope your tests go okay, nothing too serious I hope. Surgery is no joke.

I would save mine but I want to prestige Michael so I can prestige other characters like Pig and Freddy.

Thanks. Not going to lie, it’s pretty scary - not the surgery, although that’s also scary given the nature of it, I’m a lifetime pro at surgeries - but apparently there’s a lot of organs in my body that are malfunctioning (and I have a “mass” on one of them, either my liver or gland so FUN...not) and it feels like a chestburster is trying to claw out of my torso all the time. I just want this ordeal to be over.

  • I feel like every other match there has been a key. And I keep my eyes sharp for them in the lobby and I swear they weren’t there before the endscreen. I think keys should have a bright tassel for killers to better see them, or survivors should no longer be able to instaswitch after a certain point.

  • I refuse to do Billy or Leatherface challenges. I can’t do chainsaws, not with the perks I got on them, and with me never playing them I’m in no rush to upgrade them further. Edit: I refuse Nurse because I’m on ps4 and I don’t have time or energy to learn her right now. I skip moris because it requires investment into offerings I would rather pass on.

I will also only attempt Clown and Huntress as a last resort, but avoid if possible.

I give Ghostface a try but I trade out if I get no dice in 3 matches.

Survivor wise, exit gates aren’t really a problem because I know EVENTUALLY I will get it and every survivor is at least 40, if not 50 so it’s not like I’m dying stuck as No Mither David.

  • I actually like the Plague skin. She looks very drippy and regal, and she looks cool in menus.

  • @thekiller490490 said:

Hag is literally falling apart and it's amazing.

*Michael from the Office voice* She looks amazing. Would love to get that skin someday when the event comes out.

  • Best: Wraith or Doctor. If I didn’t already have a Victorian Doc with a baseball bat, I would definitely get that one. It’s so grotesque and cool.

Worst: Trapper. He’s not very drippy and he just looks like the Entity spilled love kernels on him.

  • I don’t really dodge anymore except unless I have to or if I’m having a bad day and I sense trouble, Scoob. I do have a hard limit of 2 toolboxes. Anything more, I avoid.

  • @MJ_Out said:

U get a rank reset every month and if u dont play enough in 2 months to compensate it, u will be in the low ranks without being a noob. I was calling a smurf one time because of that reason.

So just because the "low rank" killer or survivor is really good it doesn't mean he is a smurf.

Nah, you know a smurf when you see one. Like on ps4, a url that’s obviously dbd related is a smurf. Because unlike pc/steam, we can’t change our names as fluidly.

  • @JoannaVO said:

Smurfs on any platform, in any game are pathetic. They want to dominate less experienced people just to keep their ego up

Oh I agree. I just mention ps4 because that’s my platform and on ps4, you pretty much have to create a new account to have an obvious game specific smurf name. I mean sure, you can change it now but it’s not really worth the trouble given Sony’s disclaimer of “things might go wrong.”

  • I remember on Reddit someone made a Heathers chapter with Chandler as the survivor and the concept was so cool a) because Heathers was awesome and they incorporated the musical and b) the perks fought against nasty fellow survivors!

    Found it!

    Heathers Paragraph Concept

    https://i.redd.it/e9c0qvzm6fq21.jpg

I'm a big fan of the Heathers movie and musical, and with Ash's paragraph being released recently, I thought I'd try my best to come up with a paragraph for Heathers.

The survivor for this paragraph is **Heather Chandler**: A popular student, willing to do anything to stay on top of Westerburg High School's social totem pole. Her personal perks, **Big Fun**, **Queen Bee**, and **Bully**, allow her to punish survivors and killers alike for threatening her chances at survival.

**Big Fun**: You may be dead, but you're still rich. Each time that a generator is fully repaired, gain a token. Each token gives you a **10%/15%/20%** stackable bonus to all bloodpoint gains. *"I'm bigger than John Lennon!" ---Heather Chandler*

**Queen Bee**: Anyone who defies you will have hell to pay. If another survivor tries to unhook you when you don't want to be unhooked (Like if the Killer is still nearby), **press the Activate Ability button to kick them**, knocking them back and preventing them from unhooking you for the next **3/4/5 seconds**. You can only use this perk **1/2/3** times per match. *"Are we gonna have a problem? You got a bone to pick?" ---Heather Chandler*

**Bully**: You can intimidate *anyone* into submission. When you stun the Killer with a pallet or perk, the stun lasts **30%/35%/40%** longer. *"They're solid Teflon. Never bothered, never harassed..." ---Veronica Sawyer*

  • @Nikkiwhat said:

I just don't want to see challenges that require crap like:

"do X Flashlight Saves in a single match"

"Escape the Basement Hook as the last Survivor alive"

Or whatever else type of challenge that practically never happens or extensively sets a match up for failure to achieve.

Well those are the type of challenges I hope they’re addressing with this delay.

Challenges should be able to be completed, especially on a timer. Otherwise the Rift would just be like one of Amanda’s games except your wallet is on the line.

    1. Doctor’s Scrapped Tape: literally useless, confusing, and unintuitive. It’s just not good. And there is literally no perk or add on combos that make it worth its while.
    2. Myer’s Vanity Mirror: It SHOULD be tier II’s version of scratched but in reality it’s just a hindrance and completely outclassed by scratched mirror.
    3. Legion’s Pin Add ons: They COULD be good if it was on an initial frenzy hit like I originally thought - but you need to hit the same target twice and they’re just complete garbage.
    4. Freddy’s Blocks and Kid’s Drawing: While the rework was a success in my opinion, THEY MASSACRED MY BOY’S ADD ONS. The blocks are quite unworthy, especially given what they formerly were - a purple block gives a HEMORRHAGE effect??? Really?? If it was permanent or exhaustion, maybe it might have legs but no. The blocks should be what they were: making survivors fall asleep faster at increasing rates on rarity. The kid’s drawing used to be a nice little brown add on but now it’s essentially like Padded Jaws but you only get 200 points instead of a percentage. Ooh. Ugh. My boy had such a beautiful array of add ons back in the day, all useful in their own way. Now he has common garbage to avoid like everyone else.
    5. Hag’s Water/Mud add ons: I fail to see how increasing the distance from where a survivor can trigger a trap helps Hag in any meaningful way.

Honorable mentions go to Frank’s mixtape, Chili add ons for Bubba, and most Pig add ons: I hear the first two are broken and suck, and as for Pig’s, I think like Legion she needs an entire add on rework where other add ons besides rule set 2, crate of gears, tampered timer, video tape, and combat straps (most being purple and pink btw) are actually helpful for her.

I’m sorry I hate this! Also if you’re good at juking the killer feels the need to punish you by camping/ etc to make themselves feel better. /:

Excluding the toxic campers and newbies not knowing better, killers usually don’t camp unless they feel you disrespected them or you did something dirty like sandbag a survivor.

If people just played nice and not toxic, this game and community would be a lot healthier.

  • OP’s responses honestly don’t sound sincere nor sympathetic. You can play survivor just fine with no fancy add ons - I do it all the time because I like to hoard my items like a little fog dragon. You can also play the game with perks like DS and not be a total buttwipe to the killer - I do it all the time. I literally use ds as insurance against tunnelers, as designed, or I use it to be altruistic for my teammates with bt.

I don’t care about surviving personally as long as I get my bp. And yeah, sometimes I get that toxic iridescent Huntress or camper Leatherface - but them’s the breaks and I move on.

As killer I run into a lot of nasty survivors - but I literally can’t even tell you their names after the match is over. So you, standing out, for multiple killers, enough to remember you and equip special moris, must mean you probably have it coming. And I’m sure at least some killers just happen to have moris because it’s cool.

Don’t be a dipping stick to other players and things will go a lot better for you.

  • I’m sorry, but you must be playing toxic because most killers don’t usually have a specific target in mind unless they did something particularly egregious.

I will make it my mission to hunt you down if you, for instance, try to get someone else killed.

I am a girl with “girl” in my username, and I am sure I get targeted because of it - but it’s not that common enough that I notice a continuous trend. And I know there are toxic killers out there, but again, not common enough especially those with a particular hitlist.

Call me Cole Phelps because I’m pressing x to “doubt” you’re giving the full picture.

  • I wrote in none because the answers vary given the situation. I always find a way to win.

    I escaped? I won.

The person I saved escaped and I’m dead? I won.

    I got a 1-4K? I won.

I got more than 2 stacks? I won.

I got decent bp? I won.

I beat my challenge? I won.

I got event progress? I won.

I was the only survivor to not dc? I won on principle.

The only times I feel like I lost is if I lose/not gain any bp, if I get <5k bp, if I get tunneled and moried right away, and if survivors bully me or purposely deny me points especially with streamers.

There is a difference. If the killer takes you out of a locker they can't mori you so if you're not dead on hook you're not dead yet. Taking that into consideration why would I not go into a locker and prevent being taken out of the game immediately? Counterplay is whatever the players make it.

It doesn’t matter how many hooks you have, if you’re the last survivor, you’re dead. If you choose to struggle and let go, you’re not only dead but pathetic. You could put on your grown up pants, take the mori like the - usually - harmless fun it is, and move on. You can also actually play the game instead of hiding and leave with more bp than you otherwise would get.

Also that is literally not true? It sounds to me like you just want an excuse to act toxic towards the other side. Or you’re trolling.

  • @PolarBear said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/761740#Comment_761740

It benefits you because the killer can't mori you?

And who are you to tell what is counterplay or not?

You also skipped half of my comment.

There is literally no difference between getting moried and pulled out of a locker and onto a hook, especially as the last survivor - you lost and you’re dead. So you are basically saying what’s already been said in this thread: it’s a jerk screw you move on the survivor’s part towards the killer.

I’m somebody who actually plays the game and when there’s a mori or Tombstone on the table, I still actually play the game instead of giving up in a locker like a spineless coward.

  • @Endstille said:

Can't believe that people actually call jumping into a locker counterplay. It is no counterplay you deny somebody an achievement because you are a dick.

Exactly. There is no other way to describe this situation other than the survivor is a cowardly party pooper and otherwise nasty, unsportsmanlike player. Imagine being so petty and fragile to literally go out of your way to not only give up any chance of surviving but to spite someone out of an achievement.

  • My go to outfits for Jane are:

Windswept Wonder hair - Windswept top - red skirt: she looks like she could be in The Craft!

How do you know that it's not counterplay? Hiding in a locker does benefit you. You don't get killed on the spot. You can say a lot of things are misusing a game mechanic, is it misusing a game mechanic to lunge around the outside of the harvester to hit the survivor standing on the haybale? If you think about it the same way then yes, you're literally just using the momentum of the lunge to "jump" around to get onto the haybale. It's just as much a "screw you" to the survivor at that moment.

It does not benefit you as the survivor UNLESS you have Head On - but assuming you do not, which most people don’t, you’re dead meat. Because you literally did not escape or juke the killer. You wind up in the dying state on their shoulder. Explain to me how this benefits the survivor? I’ll wait. Because in reality, this is not counterplay and it does not help you because you wind up dead either way - it’s just a toxic survivor’s way to smugly deprive Michael of his Tombstone.

  • @PolarBear said:

I know it sucks when doing the achievement but having it as counterplay otherwise is needed. Just having a killer kill you out of nowhere should always have some sort of counterplay.

But that is not counterplay. Valid counterplay is jumping into a locker against Nurse or Chainsaw Gang to avoid a hit/try to stun them. “Hiding” in a locker against Tombstone does nothing to benefit you - you still get found and caught, you did not escape or juke - but it does everything to spite the Michael because it’s literally misusing a game mechanic to deprive the killer of what they rightfully earned.

The counterplay to Tombstone is DON’T FEED THE MICHAEL. Getting to tier 3 takes so long, gens get down to 1 or 2 before even a Michael that feasted on survivors reaches that point. If you deny him los, gens get done before he can do anything unless you screw up.

But no, locker lurking is not the answer - it’s a “screw you.”

  • This keeps happening to me and my internet is pretty sturdy when it’s not blizzarding out (which it’s not because it’s mid October.) If it’s not join game failure then it’s FINALLY getting a match and it gets canceled and if it it’s not that the game magically decides to kick me out WITHOUT MY BP. Ugh.

  • @TheGorgon said:

Epic/Purple outfits should not cost 10 bucks. It should cost 800-900 auric cells.

    ...that’s still 10 dollars. When 4.99 = 500 cells, that’s still 10 bucks. Purples should be 500 cells.

  • I am working on prestiging the killers at a slow pace. I would recommend using up all your nice add ons and bp offerings before prestiging, then use the proceeds towards leveling again.

Make sure you don’t prestige all at once. So many will be babies, you NEED a mature killer with at least level 40 perks because you CANNOT expect to have a good time with less than 3-4 perk slots.

Wake Up won't, but Left Behind either will or does now.

Only works as the sole survivor.

Anyways this is a “buff wake up” thread, so of course this isn’t how it currently works. But wake up showing the hatch aura would be a nice little thing to use it for - especially if you’re going for the trophy without swf.

  • Laurie is not a problem. Anymore. But there was a reason once upon a time why people disliked her. It primarily has to do with ds back in the day - Lauries were usually the really good loopers with a bright white flashlight at pallets. Now, she’s relatively harmless but OoO still exists and unfortunately if a killer sees OoO they’re not going to think “aw they’re going for the adept” - they’re going to assume you’re out to make them miserable. Like the olden days.

Tldr; it has to do with Laurie’s toxic history and now it has nothing to do with Laurie herself but with her OoO.

The toxic Lauries of yore have mostly moved to pink Nea I noticed, although some still exist to tarnish her good reputation.

I was for it until the difficulty of challenges and time requirements were exposed as scams.

    I wanted to buy it.

Same. At first I thought it might actually be pretty reasonable compared to other micro transactions in other games - but the clock blocking challenges that rely almost entirely on luck and the stars aligning really turned me off. I enjoy a challenge, I have 44 platinums to my name (45 if I ever have the opportunity to get Where Did They Go!,) but things that are specifically designed to cause panic and frustration like incredibly difficult luck based challenges on a time limit with a paywall is a huge turn-off.

  • I have the worst luck with streamers. Survivors never want to play ball and bang the gens out and run, leaving me feeling crappy.

  • I feel like I’m the only one who finds her just as hard as nurse.

If you ignore the challenges and just play 4 hours a day you'll finish it in time.

Its an anti-casual system. It's 100% possible if you can play 230 hours or so in 70 days

4 hours a day every day is asking ALOT from people who have busy schedules, jobs, and sudden life circumstances.

I hate the phrase “casuals” because it’s not true - they just don’t have time for very legitimate reasons. It’s a word to make people who have time, access, money, and maybe above average skill feel superior to others.

Asking players to revolve their life and free time around a single video game is wrong and predatory.

I think he is more perverted looking than Ace, personally. Ace just wants to pick up #######, he'd probably run from children in most cases.

People need to stop trying to massacre my boy Quentin. He is an (traumatized!) angel! He did nothing wrong! He is literally the only survivor who is actually a survivor of trauma not of the serial killer Sole Survivor Club variety :(

Meanwhile Ace literally looks, acts, dresses, and has lore that just screams like “age is just a number” and dating people out of his age bracket is totally up his alley.

@SpaceCoconut Thanks for posting the actual math. My first blush impression of the Rift wasn't far off the mark, though.

Already decided my money is better spent elsewhere than on the Rift. Matter of fact, I already decided to just play DbD normally and ignore Challenges completely. My only concern is: How will many others grinding out the challenges and seeking specific goals, even if it means throwing a match to achieve them, affect my play enjoyment?

I've already seen Streamers basically throw matches by not doing gens or totems just to grind out other challenges.

I've seen these things happen in other games with Battlepasses and challenges, as well, where just trying to play the game normally became a pain in the ass. Which, unfortunately, led to me uninstalling those games and finally moving on.

Welp, you might be right. I hope not because I really enjoy this game warts and all, but I can see that happening unfortunately. Although to be fair, people throw all the time now.

    1) The sacrifice in endgame with no one escapes death is not too hard blood warden and noed a hell of a combo.

    2) the interruptions practically means play a stealth killer it's not too hard to get with ghostface or tier 1 Myers

    3) the basement is complete bs unless you're going up against the bunch of potatoes who are throwing themselves at the basement like suicidal lemmings or by some dumb luck a bunch of survivors managed to get down close around it was you had a basement build.

1 and 2 require serious investment, even if your killers are level 50.

And all it takes is one survivor DCing in rage to make you fail some of the challenges.

And this is why I'll never do them.

I didn’t even think about how dcing is going to get so much worse, in both frequency and toxicity in regards to the rift.

I really hope Bhvr does something about this, because nobody will want to pay for something they feel cheated out of or wasn’t worth their money.

Archives challenges are free to everyone. For all time I believe. I actually prefer and want challenges to be as difficult as possible for players like me who want to grind out tough things (then again I come from games such as dark souls etc where I enjoy difficulty and being challenged etc, always striving to be the best yada yada not for anyone else mind you but for myself.)

Though I haven't gotten to check tome - part 4 out yet, is there any particular challenges on there that stand out?

I am aware that the challenges are free - that’s not what I meant by accessible. If someone doing the battle pass is a low rank, I guarantee that asking them to sacrifice 3 people in the egc with noed or 4 hook basement will end in bitter frustration - either for the killer, who’s trying their best but keep getting outmatched by survivors, or survivors who got done dirty by the killer. Toxicity will rise if it becomes apparent that the challenges are borderline impossible.

I enjoy a challenge too - I have 44 platinum trophies - what I do not enjoy is exceptionally difficult challenges designed to frustrate and force players to either give up or pay up.

  • No.

Because the thrill of “look at me! Don’tcha wish your girlfriend was hot like me?” you feel with an exclusive skin cannot compare to the anxiety associated with trying to get that skin in the first place as well as the fact that once you get this exclusive skin, you won’t want to diversify your wardrobe a) to show off and b) get your time and money’s worth.

Exclusivity is anti consumer and that pride you feel about having that rare, special skin is artificial. I’m not gonna go into the other (classist) implications of instilling an exclusive/rare skin hierarchy.

Exclusive cosmetics is a double edged sword and the only real winners in this scenario is the company that got you to put your life and money aside for some pixels that won’t matter in 10 years time.

  • I was really excited, despite my previous hesitations, about the battle pass until I saw how difficult the challenges got on such a time crunch - a clock block, if you will.

I am a seasoned plat hunter, I like getting trophies and completing the challenges required - but I greatly dislike it when said challenges are not so much about perseverance or skill but sheer dumb luck and stars aligning - it is so unfriendly to players and consumers ESPECIALLY when you add in the time limit that’s even FURTHER limited arbitrarily by the weekly unlocks or what have you.

  • @Theoretical_Heart said:

Adam sucks. No one likes him. He's ugly in design. His perks are trash, yes even Deliverance. He's just a boring survivor. I think he's everyone's least favorite. I never see any Adam players.

Ace is my least favorite. At least Adam doesn’t look like he’d creep on underage people. I will say that as survivor and killer, there are more nasty Adams - mean Aces are usually only encountered as killer.

  • Maybe Adam should have thought about getting some nice gogo boots instead of dressing like Poindexter.

  • I main Jane because she isn’t a skinny little high schooler and she has excellent fashion (Very fun to mix and match) that gets just enough love where we get more outfits that are CUTE (lol feels bad for Meg mains) and spaced out enough they’re not a drain on the wallet (Nea, Claudette.)

I’m gonna give Plague a shoutout for her excellent design but I wish she got buffed :(

  • I second what @NullSp3c said about the second idea: Legion should ultimately be a rush killer, not a sneak one. We already have Ghostface comparisons!

I propose that we take the same concept of Mob Mentality but instead the member seizes and holds the survivor in place for the player to stab. Every player in the map gets a scream notification, the killer sees the aura too. The grasp is inescapable except through other flashlight or cracker saves, if the survivor has a cracker themselves, or if the survivor “wiggles” like normal and claws at their hand or elbows them in the face - this would disable the trap, I think this would be more in line with Legion, it’s lore friendly, and probably won’t require as much code spaghetti as making accurate ai.

  • @UlvenDagoth said:

One of the things you mentioned has been worked out in my thread (Sorry for mentioning it so much but I want it alive so Devs see it)! It incorporates other Legion members into a trap of sorts! Go check it out!

I did! Really nifty ideas, much better than the current state of affairs. Although I agree with the person who says Legion should rush not sneak with the other Legion members. How about instead it’s the same concept except the Legion member grabs hold of the survivor for the player to stab? Lore friendly, doesn’t require too much code spaghetti in theory, seems suitable for the Legion. Their grasp would be inescapable except through flashlight/cracker saves and “wiggling” that ends with the survivor clawing at their hand or whacking them in the face, disabling the trap.

  • Legion is just a mess right now. I adored old Freddy warts and all and he was so fun and you COULD do nasty things with him - but Legion is just bad and toothless to boot.

I feel like it is completely out of character for them not to see blood - if anything, built in bloodhound makes more sense for them since they literally revel in carnage. Arguably same goes for missing shots, since their whole schtick is Stabby Stabby.

Legion has absolutely nothing survivors need to fear. No pressure, no lethal power, limited as heck mobility, absolute trash add ons. They need a full on rework and makeover.

I personally would also like to see the other Legion members incorporated into the power in some way since right now it’s essentially just a gimmick for cosmetics. I also think Legion should ALWAYS have access to their fast vaults - maybe even bake the break pallet add on into their kit.

All this is true, BUT why didn't she press the button to open the garage door again, WHILE Ghostface was down?

Probably a result of fight or flight while intoxicated and panicked? Or she thought she was small enough to fit and he would be the one trapped in the garage unable to kill while she lets everybody know a killer was in the house. Ultimately though I’m pretty sure the big breasted girl joke Sydney told earlier was a kind of foreshadow and that was just one of those moments Scream reveals itself to be both horror and satire simultaneously.

  • Nothing scarier than Scratched Myers.

Michael in general is just very ominous, you never know what to expect except if you see him - RUN.

I would say Ghostface is the next in line but his teabag abilities and nature of his power reminds me of a guy just chillin’, killin’. Lore wise, Ghostface is a clear winner because creeps like that exist and the idea of someone stalking you and knowing every move and every breath you take before killing you is terrifying.

  • @Volfawott said:

I like the outfit he got with his chrome mask and his default one is not that bad I I found the idea of a more combat looking orientated ghostface a lot more threatening.

As much as I love the movie costume everytime I see it all I can imagine is that Tatum basically kicked his ass and the only reason he even killed her was because she dropped 1000 IQ points after knocking him on his ass twice and decided to go for a cat flap

    Don’t diss Tatum like that.

    A) Pretty sure she was drunk

    B) He just slit her arm

    C) It was already previously established the door was locked, which led her to opening the garage door in the first place and then thinking he was a prankster when he stopped it.

    D) After throwing the bottles, she ducks his rush and his body flings over her, BLOCKING THE DOOR. The doggy door was the only escape.

    E) Tatum tried her best in an intense situation and already at a disadvantage. The real question you must ask yourself is WHY DIDN’T THE GARAGE DOOR DETECT HUMAN MOVEMENT.
