  • Not a big fan of BHVR's recent track record with original killers. I'd prefer more licensed ones

  • I was playing Wraith on father campbell's chapel right around clown's release. I remember wondering what all this orange scratch mark ######### was and where the survivors kept going to. Constantly lost track of them. Got 2-3 hits, no hooks, and got a t-bag salute at the exit gate

  • Yes, they need to just bite the bullet and take 6 months to focus on rebuilding the same game from the ground up with a better foundation. Pretty much every recent chapter has had a more disastrous launch than the previous one. Problem is only going to get worse as time goes on

The best time to rebuild the game from scratch would've been a year or 2 ago. The next best time is now. I think BHVR is vastly underestimating how much financial support players would throw at them if they announced a massive health patch. Everyone wants it

  • Yes BHVR, please nerf pig. Please don't buff her in any way, the community would definitely hate that. It would be a travesty if her traps were less RNG based, if she had more stealth movement speed, and if her ambush attack was made more useful. Please, god no! (Is the reverse psychology working? Any pig buffs yet? No? #########...)

  • I have mixed feelings. On the one hand, I don't think it's going to be implemented very well, and has the potential to make the game even more maddening at high levels. Could definitely envision switching to other killers whenever your mains gets to high MMR

On the other hand, a large portion of the community routinely points out matchmaking as being one of the biggest problems with the game. And they've been asking for better matchmaking for forever. I am constantly giving BHVR ######### for NOT listening to the community, so even if I don't personally like this, I'm glad BHVR seems to (very slowly) be implementing feedback in one area

I guess I'll just have to wait to see how it turns out, but I have very mixed feelings about it right now

  • Against an optimal team, 3 gens are popping once the first chase is finished. Playing pallets safe plus dead hard can make it so most killers will have no chance of ending that first chase sooner. At that point, if you're playing fair, the killer's objective is 8% done and the survivor's objective is 60% done. And there are still half to 3/4 of the pallets left on the map, depending on how well that first survivor did

So at that point, the game is lost unless you stop playing fair. And even then, it's probably already too far gone. It is why the early game in particular is so frustrating against a good survivor team

  • I still think old ruin was massively better because it gave so much help in early game and could pair with pop, but new ruin is still one of the best killer perks (instead of being undeniably THE best). I just wish they would make it a non-hex, then cut the regression numbers to 1/4 or less of what it is now. Or make it non-hex and base the regression speed off of how many dull totems are present (but still much much lower than the current hex version). I feel like that would band-aid fix so many issues with the game

Ruin right now either wins you the game on its own, gives you about one half to 2 gens back before being broken, or does absolutely nothing depending on the totem spawns

  • I agree that his add-ons are all pretty bad. Otherwise, I feel like after his midchapter rebalancing, he's arguably one of the better balanced killers in the game. Very strong, but still having counterplay

  • I cannot put into words how bullshit ghostface's reveal mechanic is. Drives me up a wall

  • Best: Spirit/Nurse/Blight

    Worst: Trapper/Clown/Legion

  • Still pretty fun for bot matches

I'd also mention that I had an absolute blast with RE resistance for the first 3 months, before a bunch of... not great balance changes and the game dying

  • Given the track record, I'm sure they'll revisit it in 2-3 years. Update the graphics, add some more god pallets, and then leave the size unchanged

It's a shame since it would be much more bearable if they just broke it down into 2 or 3 individual maps

  • I'm usually never dodging as survivor since the wait is so long

As killer, I pretty much only dodge if there's a legacy survivor skin in lobby. They're either a hacker, or they have 4 billion hours in the game and will be absolutely miserable to verse. And also blendettes, because I don't feel like chasing the invisible woman

My game also mysteriously crashes almost every time a map offering is used. Odd how that works

  • Just for the comedy factor alone, this would be amazing. Everytime you kick the doll, you get that ridiculous scream and laugh. Sign me up

  • I'm still pissed about the billy rework. I thought the rationale (from some old elmo twitch clip) was that the stats showed that the top 1% of billy players were "overperforming". Can't find the clip. Overheat mostly just removes the option of feathering the chainsaw, which was something good billy players were constantly doing. Either way, if that is true, it's even weirder given that bhvr always chooses to balance around the average player, but focused only on the top players for this one instance. The FOV and animation issues are just icing on the cake

100% agree though that spirit was a thousand times more deserving of a nerf than billy. Cannot believe that they are stubborn enough to ignore all the feedback regarding that rework

  • I think he's a lot of fun, but he's definitely still widely considered one of the worst killers in the game (for good reason). It's a shame the rework didn't give him more, since he really could've used the help

Don't act like damn near everyone didn't do exactly that.

Right, I think OP isn't trying to say that no one ever did that... or that moris were fair and should be brought back, they're just saying that it's kinda ######### up that moris got the proper treatment (nerfed into oblivion) while keys have still remained relatively untouched. Feels like a fair point to me

  • Moris and keys allowed one side to end the game early, before finishing their objectives. Moris were objectively more bullshit than keys, but they were nerfed into the ground

All that said... there really is no good excuse for why keys haven't been nerfed into the ground too. Dozens of suggestions that would work as temporary fixes while they do this magic key opening animation that seemingly will have taken 2 years to create by the time it's done.

I don't think the devs are biased towards one side, but they sure as hell gave the appearance of it by nerfing moris first and then taking an eternity to give keys the same treatment

  • As someone that used to main him on PS4 - in the current state he's in, honestly, you might just want to play a different killer. I used to love playing him but he seems fairly miserable to me now

Anyways, if you do still want to play him, here would be some tips:

    • That's just good for killer in general, but I'd recommend at least 70 sensitivity in your settings. Should help a bit with 360s during backrevs and M1 hits
    • Curving is possible but you'll have to make sure you're doing very gradual movements with the stick. Much easier said than done, and it'll probably take more practice than M+K. I'd recommend starting curves by erring on the side of caution (turning less than you think you need to) until you get a good feel for it. It's less strategy and moreso just getting a good feel for it
    • Tying in with that point, the brown "heavy clutch" add-on can help a bit with curving by allowing you to kind of slide a little bit more on surfaces
    • I'd run the brown "junkyard air filter" every game, if you can. Helps to make overheat a little less annoying
    • Dunno if it's just on console right now but his FOV is obnoxious. You wouldn't be crazy to run shadowborn

I think that's all I've got. Godspeed, good sir or madam

  • Eyyyy right back atcha buddy :)

No clarification needed. I was referring to the first strike as well. Nemesis tentacle strikes should always cause a speed boost to survivor contaminated or not.

Gotcha. Guess we will have to agree to disagree then. Have a good one

Huntress is an example of a one-two punch. Throw the hatchet with hindered, melee for the immediate follow up.

If Nemesis tentacle strikes did not speed boost upon contamination, the succeeding tentacle strike(s) would occur too quickly. This would be overbearing for unhooked or already injured survivors. The ole one-two punch is not something that Nemesis needs in his toolkit and he would need to be needed if he could inflict contamination, damage and downs so consistently and so quickly.

Nemesis enjoys a very brief cool down between tentacle strikes; rather than afflict him with more slowdown, it's intuitive to speed the survivors up and give them some chance at a chase. Otherwise Nemesis would be far more oppressive than he is already.

Sorry, I think I should clarify - I'm only talking about the speed boost on the first tentacle hit (when the survivor is not contaminated and takes no damage). I absolutely agree with you that a tentacle hit on an already contaminated survivor should give a speed boost, as it's doing a damage state. It's more an issue of Nemmy giving survivors a free sprint burst with the first tentacle hit, while not really gaining anything (other than he is now allowed to damage survivors with the tentacle). If either the non-contaminated speed boost was removed or the first hit does damage, then I think it'd be fine. As it stands now, Nemmy needs to do an extra 8 health states per game compared to every other killer. Considering a 12 hook game would be 24 health states, an extra 8 on top is A LOT

Hmmmmm... methinks that is a minority opinion about PH vs Nemmy. I wish Nemmy was stronger but I just don't see it

  • @WexlerWendigo said:

It’s not awful, on some loops throwing a speed and slow bottle guarantees a hit.

This is true most of the time if they stay, but the issue is that it requires a lot of setup. If a survivor is smart and sees you dropping a yellow bottle at the pallet, they can just run away to the next loop before you get the boost. Works 99% of the time, and the clown is now down 1 bottle with nothing to show for it

And that's not even talking about how insta-dropping pallets still strong counters clown

  • I would also like to know the answer to that. Nemmy will always be a far weaker version of PH so long as the extra speed boost is in place. If PH is widely considered A-tier by the community (strong but balanced), then Nemmy is undertuned in his current state

  • Yeah, I feel you, I have no desire to do this rift. I have at least 2 clown outfits that are better, and I don't really play any of the other characters

I'm probably just going to wait until either the next chapter or the next rift to come back to the game. Have been taking a break for about a month now and it looks like I've not really missed anything

  • I think it'll make it even more evident that the antidote is borderline useless, but I fully expect clown to not get any of the major buffs he needs for another 2 years at least. The best part of his rework by a mile was the faster reload

Thanks, I just realized though that BPS isn't the right comparison, a more apt would be Survivor Pudding or Escape Cake basekit on everyone since if everyone had BPS that'd be 500% blood points lol

Hah! Good point. I'd be pretty on board with that kind of boost too though

  • Post patch, I expect all consoles to burst into flames when the game is booted up

  • @JHondo said:

Think of it this way, Bloodhunt is basekit Party Streamers for the duration. Anything on top of that adds not multiplies.

    Well said.

OP, just to give an example, here's how it would work for a game during the bloodhunt in which you scored 32,000 bloodpoints, 4 BBQ stacks, and 3 cakes were used

    Total = 32,000 x (base points(1) + bloodhunt bonus (1) + BBQ stacks (0.25/stack) + (1.05)(# of cakes used))

    Total = 32,000 x (1 + 1 + 1 + 3.15)

    Total = 196,800

Versus, if 3 cakes were used OUTSIDE of a bloodhunt, and you had 4 BBQ stacks with 32,000 BP score

    Total = 32,000 x (1 + 1 + 3.15)

    Total = 164,800

    -------------------------------------

So feel free to use the cakes whenever you want. Bloodhunt does not multiply the value of any BP offering, the bloodhunt is just an extra 100% BP from your base match score

  • Preset text messages like Identity V has would be perfect though, along with a ping system. No real way to abuse it and it could be used to make solo teams much much more coordinated

  • I feel like this game desperately needs more variety. New mechanics could potentially do that without causing some balance headaches. I'd be more in favor of a new game mode if I had the choice, but new mechanics would be much better than nothing imo. My only hesitation on that would be if the new mechanics would make the game even more beginner-unfriendly (as DBD is already insanely complex for a new player)

OP, I also just wanted to say that I appreciate you adding a bunch of options to the poll :) I see too many polls here with 2 or 3 black and white options when a lot of opinions usually falls into a gray inbetween area

  • Ormond... I second that. They should change the snow color from white to yellow, since that entire map might as well be covered in butter. Blight just slides off of everything

  • I guess it's good for me that twins players are non-existent anyways. I would also delete trickster. I guess I really haven't liked an original killer since Oni, now that I'm thinking about it

  • Man, I would love this, especially compared with what we got. Would also love replacing the tentacle pull with a rocket launcher, even if balance-wise that would require heavier activation requirements. Either way, this would feel much more like nemesis and resident evil. I love all of it

Built to kill would legit be the best killer perk in the game since it would pretty much remove the need for early game collapse. I feel like that would be fair enough if it just deactivated immediately after that first hit/down (no more speed boost). It's sacrificing a perk slot in exchange for great early game potential

Monstrous rage might be a bit overkill, since it would essentially be a NOED that can't be deactivated

Well Nemesis is just a PH wanna be at the moment. Doesn't change much. And it wouldn't really work like Deathslingers at all. Its not like you have to reel them in like Deathslinger. You hit them then they are being carried.

Also, as a PH main - yes, I agree. Current Nemmy is just a much weaker version of PH with AI zombies sprinkled on top. Your version would be more fun and more in line with the source material, as well as feeling more unique in the killer roster

  • Whoops, I clicked the wrong one. You'd probably need a lot of different rules. Otherwise... 5 gens would frequently pop at the end of the first chases

I don't even really care that much if it would be horribly balanced though. Any alternate game mode would be a breath of fresh air

  • If they didn't pick Nemmy or Mr. X, it probably would've been disappointing on some level

That being said... it's Nemmy without a rocket launcher, and Nemmy incapable of sprinting or roaring - it's a bit underwhelming to me. There are other one shot down killers that are balanced with limitations on their powers, so I feel like a rocket launcher could've been doable (hefty cooldown, alternative objective to obtain etc.) AI zombies are cool and all, but no matter how you slice it, Nemmy is just a much weaker version of PH. I don't hate this iteration of Nemmy but it just feels very forgettable and underwhelming to me.

RE Resistance had a boatload of issues, but Nemmy was an absolute blast to play in that. By a wide margin the best part of the game. Nemmy in DBD could've been so much better than what we got. It's hard not to feel disappointed

  • @syain said:

Would love to see this but it's very unlikely unfortunately. Some higher ups seem to be very stubborn.

Yeah... it does feel like this is the most likely scenario.

BHVR made a decision. Everyone told them how much they disliked the decision, reiterating how everyone saw Billy as the gold standard for balance. How there were roughly 10 other killers more in need of balance tweaks before Billy

BHVR seems incapable of admitting they made a poor decision and course correcting, so Billy probably won't be touched again for another 2 years. I mean... look at the Clown rework. Clown's (almost) exactly as garbage as he was before, and they still haven't given him further changes after 6 months

    It is what it is

  • I would actually love using this. Feels like that would make it fun but still not overly oppressive, since you'd have the range stipulation for it activating

Although it might need to be temporarily deactivated whenever someone is hooked in basement. Otherwise, Bubba would pretty much just win the game for free after it activates one time (since unhooker and unhookee could be trapped down there until Bubba returns and re-downs them)

  • Ping system like HSHS or Identity V basic messages to teammates would be ideal. I hope that was the entire reason for the HUD remake

Everyone's been saying that forever, but it would be great to just bridge the gap between SWF and solos, then buff killers across the board accordingly. Game would be much more balanced instead of the current hierarchy of SWF having a huge advantage over killer, and killer having a big advantage over solos

  • State is beauty incarnate

  • A year ago, I'd have said Billy, absolutely no contest. I just don't see it now though. Billy's margin of error is razor thin, and curving is going to be a lot more difficult to pull off on most loops because you can't feather for long. He's still got great map mobility and the occasional backrev when in a dead zone, but that's pretty much it against competent survivors (assuming you are not a god billy)

I used to main Billy for awhile but I'd take Wraith 100 times in red ranks before taking Billy for a spin anymore. Which is incredibly depressing. Wraith's got (arguably) better mobility than Billy now, and he can get some nasty hits out of cloak. He's also going to force pallet drops a lot faster than Billy in almost every situation. Windows are pretty equally bad for wraith and billy

Dunno man. I think for 90% of players, Wraith is going to be the stronger killer. So so so much easier to use and at this point, I really don't think his ceiling is much lower than Billy's. Wraith's in a great spot right now

  • It's weird...

It's kind of a much thinner PH punishment of the damned that doesn't go through walls (I seem to recall people saying it was coded this way). And it apparently needs a non-crouched survivor fully visible in order for it to connect. Crouching behind virtually any LOS blocker seems to stop it 99% of the time. Doesn't appear to be any verticality to it either

Also... for whatever reason, if you strafe side to side while using the tentacle, it appears to make the hitbox wider

Yeah, your profile picture told me everything before I even read your comment :)

I am sorry for you that the RE Chapter ended being a disappointment. And, truth be told, I kinda know how it is. A Nightmare on Elm Street on release is definitely the best for me, but nowadays its content is not that great.

Yeah, I can imagine that was a bit of a bummer when they reworked Freddy. Would be nice if they made a brown add-on or something that would allow you to play the older version of the killer. Would not exactly cause any balance issues in this case

  • Man, the silent hill chapter was hyped to hell and back, and it seemed to live up to all the expectations. PH was as great to play as he looked on the PTB. Brought me back to the game after I'd sworn it off for months. Cheryl was great. Midwich... I still hate it from a gameplay perspective, but outside of gameplay, it's absolutely fantastic. I'm more of an RE fan than a silent hill fan, so I'm a bit disappointed with what we got recently

Honorary mention for Cursed Legacy. All around great original chapter

I don't really think that's fair. You're basically saying "assuming every single player is sweating like they're a tournament squad, he's not that good." You have to remember that not every team is a red rank four man

Sorry, that's not the impression I wanted to give. Let me clarify that:

    • Against the average solo queue team, Wraith is balanced. If the Wraith player is skilled, they have a good chance of winning
    • Against a good solo team, Wraith is balanced. Unless the Wraith player is more skilled than the survivors, it'll be close to a draw
    • Against a decent SWF team, Wraith is a little weak. Unless the Wraith player is significantly more skilled than the survivors, they'll struggle
    • Against a good SWF team, Wraith will have a rough time. Assuming an equal skill level, the Wraith will lose
    • Assuming every single player is sweating like they're in a tournament squad, Wraith will get stomped into the dirt the overwhelming majority of the time. Look at tru3 vs oracle as a good example of that

I feel the luck on the next gen console. I've had a few bugs but nothing like the videos I've seen. I just feel like my love for the game is going away which makes me sad because it's the only game that I play..

Yeah, last gen consoles seem to have it particularly rough now. Although it's never been too smooth in the past either

I will say, that sounds like a pretty normal experience with this game haha. In a lot of ways, playing this can feel like a frustration simulator. I've uninstalled and reinstalled this game probably a dozen times. There are definitely better games out there, but this one does scratch a certain itch that others don't. In my experience at least, it's usually a good idea to take a lengthy break from DBD whenever it stops being fun. Could be fun again sometime down the road, but it does lose some of its fun factor after playing for awhile fairly consistently

  • I wouldn't say terrible but... mediocre and forgettable

  • Definitely not just you. I've been playing since 2018 when the game came out for free on PS Plus. This event is pretty much just a copy/paste of last year's anniversary, which wasn't stellar to begin with. It's just... cakes and crowns. Cakes are cool for BP, and I'm happy to make another version of Jeffsus with the new halo crown

But... that's pretty much all that's here. Shards are nice, but I won't use them for a long time. Community cosmetics are not really something it feels like you're earning, moreso something that everyone's being given at the end of the event. And I'm lucky I can even PLAY the game with a PS5, since it sounds like last gen consoles are unplayable right now. I could rant about a dozen other annoying things about the game right but this would end up a wall of text

You're definitely not alone in feeling this event is lame. Doubly disappointing considering bhvr said they were going to make the anniversary and halloween event bigger to compensate for no other events. Past events were much bigger and more ambitious than this

I'm legit just going to log in for shards a couple more days, and play again whenever the next chapter or big update comes out. I'm pretty apathetic towards this event

  • I will say, if you play Wraith vs. a red rank swf sweat squad, it will become evident very very quickly that he's not overtuned. Windows and dropping pallets right as he uncloaks can usually buy you an insane amount of time against him. The inherent cooldown on his power is the time it takes to uncloak. Vaulting windows while he is cloaked also doesn't count as "in chase", so the entity blocker doesn't come into play unless he's uncloaked for the full chase, which makes him an m1 killer

I think he's pretty comparable to most good killers in the roster now. Can be strong against solos, can be dumpstered by a good swf

1 2 3 4 5 6 … 10
