Wouldn't suit the game at all.
-
The reason Claudette is my main now is simply because she was my starting character and I committed too many bloodpoints on her to ever justify switching to another survivor. I have every perk at tier 3 on her (and my only P3).
When I first started playing she easily had the best perks for beginners. Self Care is a no brainer, and Empathy is an amazing beginner perk - being able to see when a killer is in a chase and how far away they are was a huge safety net back then that let me know I could focus on gens.
Meg was a candidate as I read a lot about Sprint Burst being a good perk, but I have never liked being forced to walk everywhere. Even now I don't use SB.
Sure, I run Iron Will a lot now, but no way did that appeal to me as a beginner. I didnt understand the mechanics enough back then. Same thing with Dwight's perks.
I think the whole "Blendette" thing was a happy coincidence for a lot of people who chose Claudette for other reasons. I honestly think that if somebody else had Self Care as their perk, then Claudette wouldn't be as popular as she is.

You're right that people shouldn't go out their way to ruin someone else's game play. However, what about all the killers who do brag about slugging and facecamping to ruin survivors games or mori to ruin their game just because the survivors brought in something they don't like? I play killer a lot. Probably more now than I play survivor. I never dc. A survivor dcing didn't bother me. But I know I'm one person. As a survivor i dc'd if my match was really laggy or to give my friend hatch and I'll continue to do that. But I have had now had more people die on their first hook. Oh well. Thats fair. If they want out the game they have a right to leave. And im glad the devs will. Never remove the struggle attempt. That really wouldn't be fair. But the toxicity really should be addressed and handled. But devs won't. Its why I respect streamers like Otz and Puppers who never camp and never tunnel and even Ohtofu because they have said they don't want to make the game horrible for the other side.
If there are things in DbD that make you want to DC, then you are playing the wrong game. Its as simple as that.
There is no valid reason to DC from a game. Other than being selfish and not caring about other peoples fun.
Online multplayer games, especially asymmetrical, are not designed to keep everyone happy 100% of the time. It's impossible. Sometimes you just have to suck it up and not ruin it for others. Just like they do when you have a really good game.

Disagree. Having some sort of reasonable timer might actually put a little pressure on the survivors naturally. I'd consider that a good thing.
They already have something to pressure them: idle crows. But they can get around those.
But a timer would be unfair for both sides. What about games that legit take a long time?
And when the timer runs out, who wins?
If the killer wins, then that promotes killers protecting gens and ignoring chases.
If survivor wins, then that promotes survivors to purposefully hide and wait.

So in the short time the penalties have been reintroduced we have heard a lot of squawking and complaining from those they affect. In fact, the gist of such arguments are:
- Things here aren't fair so we should have the right to DC whenever we want.
- Your DC don't do anything anyway.
- You are inconveniencing me!
Ok? I'd actually take all the whining and noise as a sign that the penalties are doing what they are supposed to do, i.e. annoy the people who waste our time in the same way they annoy us. All that being said, I still think there is a better way to go.
Don't ban these people with a pattern of DC behavior. Send them off to their own Que. Let them play only with other people who feel the same way they do. If their arguments are true, and they should have the RIGHT to DC whenever they want, then they won't be annoyed or upset when people constantly do it to them. I would think they would be thrilled. Sure, the Ques for them will be slower, and games cancel out a lot, and advancement will be pretty much a joke. But hey, that ability to drop out of those bad games will help them get right into the next one. Again, I strongly suggest that we let them (route them) to play with their own ilk. The only way back out of their Que and into sanity with the rest of us would be to play a certain number of games without DC. I personally think the minimum should be (30).
But who would they play against?
I think it's fair to say survivors DC a lot more than killers.
That means it would actually take them longer to find a game than with the current DC penalty. Sometimes even impossible to get a game.
So as much as I dislike those people, I don't think that's a fair way to handle it.

Some maps are clearly unbalanced and need working. Nobody wants to play a game starting with a disadvantage like that. Its not fair.
Some maps are just abysmal in general (i.e Midwich) and have no place in the game.
Everyone can see it but the designers who seem to consider it high art.
Taking your example of Midwich. Who do you feel is at a disadvantage on that map?
-
There is an even easier way to fix the problems than you have suggested...
Just stop complaining about them.
They are part of the game, if you don't like them then find a game you actually do enjoy playing.
-
It happens.
But I don't think it's common enough to warrant a new feature surely.

On the topic of maps I have to say that in most other games people only disconnect when they get a really, really bad map. One that the entire community regards as an abomination.
DBD has quite a number of them. Imagine being so arrogant and proud you need to put in a disconnect penalty to force people to play rather than admitting you have a team which is terrible at map design and reworking said maps.
I’m not saying the disconnects are justified but at the same time leaving those maps untouched sure as hell isn’t acceptable either.
I dont really have an issue with any map to be honest. Sure there are some I like over others, but I just get on with it and learn to adapt my playstyles.
While I agree there are some maps that can be really difficult for the killer, it only really becomes a problem when the survivors know what they are doing.
There have been many times I have been playing survivor and get screwed over by teammates doing gens all grouped up and leaving us we the 3 closest gens at the end.
I think the main problem is with the players who can't handle losing. And if they don't get what they perceive as an easy map/killer then they blame they game.
If a match is tough, so what, take on the challenge.

I made 4 points that were unselfish, you just locked on to my 1 encounter
All 4 of your points are about the same thing.
They are also your opinions and not based on any evidence.
B. My queue times are fine. And I will happily wait longer if it means I dont get matched with a serial rage-quitter.
C. Clearly people don't just go play another game. DbD is doing well.
D. The core issues you speak of are not issues. They are part of the game. Tunnelling and camping are part of the game. If you don't like it, don't play the game.

I was red rank before the reset (I usually sit around 3) and I only play solo.
Not played in since the rift closed as I want a break before the halloween event starts. (If ever)

DC penalties for survivors shifts the problem to them dying on the first hook, so yeah it is pointless in that sense. I suppose it stops the killer disconnecting, but I've never seen a killer disconnect as a major inconvenience, it is always the survivors that disconnect ruining a game only now they can exit on the first hook and the rest of us still have to suffer through the rest of a one sided game.
But at least dying on first hook earns the killer some points and buys the other survivors a little time to do gens.
Without a DC penalty, people just DC as soon as they see the map or the killer.
Sure, DC penalties don't solve every problem. But they do solve some of the problems, which is a good start.
Hopefully the next stage will be to remove the struggle mechanic so survivors are forced to stay for the whole second phase.

A bubba face camping me in the basement.... most times in that situation the team dies trying to rescue from a face camping bubba in a basement. lol my time is more valuable then sitting on a hook for 2 minutes.
I dont really care about him getting what he wants lol he WANTS to get everyone in the basement, cause he’s gonna get another one hooked anyway so he gets his cycle of torment
What does it matter what your team does, that is their decision and they can make their own mistakes.
But you killing yourself screws them over, but as you have already made clear you only care about yourself anyway, so screw them hey.
Have you never been on the other end? Where you lose a game because someone else DC early? It sucks right, so stop doing it to other people.
And you are playing a video game... your time is clearly not valuable. If you don't like how other people behave in an online multiplayer game, then go play a single player game and put it on easy.
-
Pretty sure it's people like you that are rewarding them. Giving up as soon as you get hooked?
Just stay for the maximum hook time and stop giving the face campers what they want.
-
I didn't used to, but now that it's fashionable...
-
Urgh... just did a bunch more but trying to edit them caused the post to be deleted 😭
-
Sorry, it's an addiction now...
Too Quick & Quiet
Your unimpressive performance is over before it's even begun. You can only last for a few seconds while performing any action. You must wait 60 seconds until you are able to try again.
Self Saboteur
You have a natural tendency to always screw yourself over. Working on any generator causes all other generators to slowly regress at 200% speed.
Second Hook
You never were much of a fighter. The second time you are hooked you are immediately sacrificed, regardless of previous hook progress.
Selfish-Care
Me me me. Pressing the active ability button near another survivor immediately puts them into the dying state and recovers you to full health.
Slippery Feet
They laughed when you created the banana skin shoes. Well guess who's laughing now... yes, still them. You can't run for squit, any attempt to run causes you to fall over and scream.
Spine Freeze
You freeze up in the face of fear. Looking directly at the killer causes you to seize up at prevents any movements for 10 seconds. This perk is too cold for cooldowns.
Sprint Burst Open
Somebody replaced your blood with nitroglycerin while you were sleeping. Any attempts to run triggers the explosive liquid and results in a puddle of blood and guts. Who said Moris were for killers only??
Fall Asleep!
You can sleep wherever, whenever. Performing any action for more than 10 seconds causes you to fall asleep on the spot. You remain asleep until woken up by another survivor.
I'll Make It
For each survivor you leave to die on a hook, one random generator is automatically and fully repaired.
Windows Vista
What is this bug-ridden mess?? This perk has absolutely no effect and the game functions as per usual.
-
Flip Flops.
You thought this was a beach vacation and only packed your flip flops. Your footsteps are 500% louder and cause constant audios cues for the killer.
For the Killers.
Pressing the activate ability button near any survivor instantly puts them into the dying state and awards the killer bloodpoints in the Devious category. The aura of the dying survivor is revealed to the killer.
Head Off.
You are too tall to comfortably fit in a locker and any attempt to squeeze yourself into one will immediately put you into the injured state.
Sinner Strength
Spying on other survivors for 60 seconds whilst in a locker heals you by one health state. What you do in that locker is nobodies business but your own.
Left Behind... Again
People have more fun without you. Once per trial you will have 100% chance to get disconnected during the loading screen and the other players will be able to play without you. All other players receive 100% bonus bloodpoints.
Heavyweight.
Scratch marks stay visible for 60 seconds longer than normal. Running for more than 2 seconds at a time causes the Exhausted status effect and puts you in the dying state.
Yes Mither.
You are not sure where it's coming from, but you leave a constant trail of blood. Every 30 seconds you lose one health state. In the dying state, you bleed out 100% faster.
Absolutely No One Left Behind.
Once the exit gates are open, the entity no longer has any power to prevent the killer from leaving the nightmare that has been inflicted upon them. The hatch is constantly open and can also be used by the killer.
Plunderer's Calling.
Your aura is revealed to the killer while opening any chest. The time required to open a chest is increased 200%.
Don't Prove Thyself.
You owe nothing to no one! Constantly earn bloodpoints while standing still. Working on an objective decreases your bloodpoints.
-
First off, what a great thread concept and some really good suggestions so far 😂
Here are my contributions and maybe more to follow because its pretty fun to do them 😁
Ass in the Hole.
At the start of the trial, all survivor items are placed into chests that only you can open.
Unbalanced Landing.
You never did learn how to land on your feet. A fall from any height puts you straight into the dying state and inflicts Broken for the rest of the match.
Better Apart.
You cannot perform any actions while within 20 meters of another survivor. While within 20 meters of another survivor you gain 100% haste.
Breakup
Once per trial you can breakup with another survivor. This causes the other survivor to disconnect from the game.
Nervous Spirit
Disturbing crows causes you to scream and freezes you on the spot for 10 seconds.
Workers Strike
Your union rep prevents you from working on objectives until the entity agrees better working conditions. After 2 minutes you are awarded a 3rd health state, and are permitted to return back to fixing generators.
Detective's Lunch.
You are unable to perform any work until you have found and consumed 10 donuts.
Lack of Empathy.
You just don't care about anyone else's feelings. The auras of dying and hooked survivors are hidden from you and you cannot perform healing or co-operative actions.

Object of Depression.
If you are looking in the killer's direction, you only see darkness.
Object of Depression.
Once per game you can put yourself on a hook and finally put an end to all your suffering.

I think it's an intended joke.
-
I have them all so I can't complain too much, but I do agree they can be difficult and often require a bit of luck with the matchmaking.
I think it's important to focus on them as soon as a new killer is released and get them out the way. New killers tend to start off pretty powerful and then get nerfed at some point (usually just in time to make you want the next new "temporary OP killer").
-
If you are floating nearby with the sole intention of waiting for a survivor to come to the rescue, then that is still camping.
But it's harder for people to notice so they won't call you up on it as much as face camping.
If you happen to be near the hook for other reasons, then that's just how it is.
I wouldn't have an issue with a killer proxy camping though. It still gives you a chance to save, and as long as they don't tunnel on purpose then its fine by me.
The survivors benefit from this anyway, as you won't be pressuring gens. So in theory, 2 other people will be working on gens the whole time.

I’d love some more original killers like a Scarecrow, Siren and something that’s related to the snow / ice. It could be cool having a killer that could freeze generators / pallets. Maybe Krampus / a Yeti?
Scarecrow would be cool.
Imagine a PH cage type power where the survivor you downed was turned into a scarecrow on a pole somewhere.
There could be 5 dummy scarecrows on the map, and the survivor becomes one of them.
Other survivors would see the auras of all 5 scarecrows, and would only be able to know which one is the actual survivor by visuals/audio. Like it will be very obvious if one is the survivor or not, but only when you have LOS.
-
If I know survivors are waiting at the exit gates I just go stand in a corner and wait for the timer to force them out.
Then they don't get to teabag.
I can't begin to imagine how many controllers and tvs have been destroyed from rage because they didn't get their precious teabags. 🤣

A few of them might be feasible if auras were tied to a dedicated aura button instead of automatically seeing always on auras.
Would make trying to see people in a chase easier if I could not see bright red gens all the time.
They'd have to stop moving to activate it though. And wouldn't apply to conditional auras like Bitter Murmur or Kindred.
Not a bad suggestion to be fair.
Would help keeping some of the atmosphere of Dbd. Cause lets be honest, as useful as auras are, they spoil the visuals of the game.

Or we remove SWF and solve every problem at once. :)
😁 perhaps... I expect we would lose a large portion of the player base though.
-
It could be possible, but it would ruin the game.
The simple fact is, in order to balance we need to remove the advantage that swf have. There might be a few ways to do this but as a rough idea it means:
- base kit kindred
- base kit bond (with unlimited range)
- a way to see when somebody is in a chase, and specifically who it is and where they are (solved by bond)
- base kit aura reading ability to see which gens are being worked on and how much progress they have
- base kit aura reading of the killer when they are in sight of any survivor
Basically, all the above will mean SWF (on comms) have no advantage of solos. Once that happens killers can be boostly (massively) with all those features in mind to finally balance the game.
However, as you can imagine, those things would all ruin the game.
-
@Dzeikor said:
Him and the Hag,I dont get why their POV is so low,hag as well is not even that short, probably not anytime soon if ever knowing BHVR.
It's because both killers are hunched over and don't stand up straight. So its realistic to have a lower POV than other killers.
-
So a buffed Haunted Grounds, but with only 1 hex totem?
-
Maybe one day.... if they ever manage to close the gap between solos and swf.
-
It would eventually balance.
Closing the gap between solo and SWF is the first step, and this would be a good start.
Once solo and SWF are on a level playing field it will then be possible to balance killer vs survivors.
However, its only one step. Not everyone will want to play comms or even able to. So something else to help close the gap also needs to exist.

Oops. Didn't realise. I guess that's what I get for never DCing 🤣

I stream so I do have OBS setup to record dbd. But the game is in real time so it wont just stop to let you open it up and start recording, so a lot of things that can be reported ( hacking/cheating/bugs/griefing) are just missed.
I do still report them when I am not streaming, but I shouldn't be expected to have a recording software open to try to catch everything that happens. I'm lucky enough that my pc can handle running DBD and OBS at the same time, but not everyone is as fortunate.
Instead of complaining people shouldn't have to run recording software, how about providing a decent suggestion of your own?
Its not like you can use the in game voting because that is prone to abuse by salty babies that report for no valid reason.
Also, not to mention all the people who seems to shout "hacker" when they just don't understand the game mechanics.

I think the problem some people have is that the devs aren't fully transparent about why they make certain changes.
The example they gave for Pop I understand since it makes sense. However they don't explain certain changes to perks like Huntress Lullaby.
I think if they engaged a bit more with the community on why they are changing certain things it would be better.
You're being far too optimistic. The community, or at least the vocal ones, are far from reasonable and won't be happy no matter what the devs do.
Personally I think the release notes and other info from the devs is a lot better than most games offer.

I kind of feel your pain. There can be some really bad moments where slugging is exploited. Like you say, usually with Bubba.
However, I am not sure it is frequent enough to warrant a change. Certainly not with all the other stuff the devs have on at the moment.
Having said that, the latest survey did have some hints in it that slugging might be under consideration. So who knows what we will see in the next 6 months...
