Why not?
Because they would screw it up and add more performance issues no doubt.
Also, don't want to clutter the UI.
Not all challenges are applicable, and it's not hard to just count most of the ones that are.
-
No. If there was going to be a feature to disable them, why pay shards for it. It should be free.
Also, if they were disabled you could just get them back by levelling up the character that owns them and unlocking them again.
Nobody is forcing you to unlock teachables in the first place anyway.

I don't want to listen to a russian kid playing DbD in the kitchen with their parents fighting in the background while trying cooking food, and the dog barking at it all.
Pretty sure they don't have dogs for pets in Russia.
You're thinking of bears.

geez it feels like we're playing different games, I'm on ps4 and never been harrased playing a videogame, maybe I'm lucky. Guess I just don't take games (or adolescents) that seriously. anyway, the mute option seems to work wonders in the scenario that you described.
Speaking about SFW I've always thougth that a survivor being able to communicate with another one on the other side of the map while being chased by the killer kinda breaks the game. But I don't play Killer so you tell me. I mean, SWF should have a range to survivors being able to listen and talk to each other. My two cents.
I am PS4 and used to think the same, but recently it seems to have picked up for me. It seems to be more when I play killer, I will usually get a salty message every 1 in 4 games.
-
On paper, it would be cool. But in practise, it would not work.
I love the idea that you could talk and also the killer could hear you when near by. It would make the game more tactical. Just imagine hiding close to a killer and then you accidently sneeze!
But the problem is. Most gamers are annoying. They play music. Constantly talk crap because they think they are "pro streamer". And most of all they are toxic bullies.
So unfortunately they ruin the experience for the rest of us, and we can't do anything about that.

If the Evil Within ever comes to Dead By Daylight, it's gotta be The Keeper or nothing at all
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/1VCL037J850H/image.png
Pyramid Head needs a buddy who has a different shaped head. Much like how Demo(gorgon) is awaiting his distant cousin Xeno(morph)
Yeah I though about him, but just figured a bit too similar to PH. Well, in as much as they have something on their head lol
I guess "The Keeper" is already a valid killer name though.

Good point about the money. The only question now is what is more important to the devs: The Majority of their playerbase, or eating more than one meal a week?
Oh deffo the money at this point. Those Auric Cells price points are disgusting. Straight out of EA's book.
But I don't really care about that, as long as they keep the game good and stay away from any Pay2Win mechanics they can charge what they want for cosmetics.

Is everyone aware that Friday The 13th The Game owns the licensing? You are now.
True. And I also think as they have a competing product they are very unlikely to allow it. But as always in life... money.

that would be a good passive what perks do you reckon it would have
Oooo... thats a tough one. Let's think. Very raw ideas...
Crippling Fear - making direct eye contact with a survivor (looking in each others direction, no obstructions) while more than 10 meters away freezes them in place for 1/2/3 seconds.
Alternate Agenda - allowing your obsession to be the solo survivor grants bonus bloodpoints. (I'm thinking like how an Alien won't harm somebody who's been impregnated)
Hunters Instinct - The direction of injured survivors breathing is displayed when within 4/8/12 meters. (Like how Ghost Face works when somebody is looking at you and you can see their direction). This could be countered with Iron Will (and similar).

Oh god I remember doing that myself, it took me absolute ages of just random shocking and confused survivors. Do you plan to try for the 100% as well?
Not sure, seems like a lot of hassle when I already have the plat. Plus the trophies never end with all the new chapters.
Also, I hear Left for Dead isn't very fun.
Have you managed to get the all?
-
That would be a huge buff to survivors, which they certainly don't need.
So I think not.
However, one benefit of it would be that it would bring solos and (comms) swf closer together.
If we can somehow work towards a level playing field between solos and swf, they we can eventually get some proper balancing with killers in the game.
So I might be up for it, if we get it as part of a much larger balancing rework.

Or Shade from Evil Within 1 would be awesome. I always found her to be the creepiest.

I never played any of the DLC so not familiar with her. Looks pretty cool though, but is she "main" enough to be the killer? We only get one after all.

Missed the update. Congrats on getting it! The Nurse one is very difficult to get legit and I honestly just recommend farming it. If you do plan to do it legit then I would get a lot of practice on Nurse first since it requires an iridescent add-on now and that add-on also doesn't let you blink through walls, only line of site.
Thanks.
I got the nurse one too. After seeing it is ultra rare and nerfed I just farmed it with some gen slapping.
Still took 2 attempts though because I had forgotten how to grab people in the first game. I was pressing R1 instead of tapping R2 (attack) ๐คฆโโ๏ธ
Also got the plat after a couple hours of shocking with the doctor. I don't think I will ever be able to play him again now ๐คฃ

It was turned off again at least temporarily because hackers were tricking the game into banning other people (including some streamers).
Ah, thanks for the info. In that case I agree, get that fixed first ๐
-
I say yes. But I thought there already was one?
Did it get taken out again recently?
-
The Evil Within would be my vote.
Preferably with Laura as the killer, but not sure how they could make her work in this type of game.
So perhaps Ruvik would suffice. It would be easy to do him.
Or maybe even Anima from the sequel, but could be a bit too spirit-esque.

Use mori and don't care
Yeah I did exactly that, first attempt.
I hadn't realised how often you get ebony moris. I levels myers from 20 to 40 for this trophy and got 6 of them, then did it first try... wished I had saved bloodpoints now! ๐คฃ
-
Thanks for all the help people, but turns out the fear was all in my head! ๐
I did it first attempt with Myers and an Ebony Mori (so I didn't get Evil Incarnate).
I used Deer Stalker which helped me slug the last one, and had a couple green add ons.
But after the rank reset the other day I was rank 20 killer, so that was probably the main contributor here! Also, I feel the d/c timeout feature was my friend too.
Only luck-based base trophy I have left now is that one where nurse needs to grab a survivor after a triple blink! See you in a year! ๐

As a killer I still get around 2 console and 2 pc.
When I play survivor I get selfish teammates that will just hide and not do gens or anything with the cross play symbol so I can't say which platform I'm playing with.
It's really not that bad, faster queues on pc.
Interesting that you had that experience.
Other than the 1 rage quiting survivor, I didn't notice anyone in my 20 games that was trying to avoid playing. They were all keen to get gens done, rescue others and distract the killer when needed.
I mean, 20 games isn't really many so I shouldn't be trying to draw too many conclusions from it!
-
Is that better-ranged killer, or better ranged-killer?
-
Oooo. A village with lots of little huts sounds cool.
But then that abandoned amusement park suggest above is pretty sweet too.
-
I like it. Sure it's different, but is that a bad thing?
You just need to use different tactics and put more effort into not getting in a chase.
I think it's nice to have some maps that force changing your play style. Mixes things up.

Fair point, and you could be right.
Although I think those kind of people already do that anyway. They just need someone else to blame for their own mistakes.

When I read your initial post I assumed other players can also see your stats. Am I right?
Yeah. Everyone can see each others stats.
-
@stargazer9 said:
The playerbase is toxic enough.
How do you think additional stats might make things more toxic? Can you give an example?
It might actually help things. For example, people won't be able to say "why you no do gens" if they can see you were in a chase for 40% of the game and on the hook for the other 60%.
Which brings up a point: hook time should be another stat.
Even if we don't get too detailed with status we could have a brief summary for each player. For example...
Gens: 40% Hook: 30%. Chase: 20%. Other: 10%
Where the percentages are based on your time spent alive (rather than overall game time).
-
Thanks for all the info so far.
Have such quick responses has improved my confidence that it might not be as hard as I first thought...

I don't like playing against cheaters (mapwide voice-communications that is not taken into account by the developers when balancing the game).
Well that's one way to look at it.
Or maybe, the devs intended this to be a SWF game, and solo is just a hardcore mode that was added to help fill the queues.
-
For survivor, its about teamwork. So why shouldn't you be able to team with friends.
As a killer it doesn't bother me. I will always try to win the game, but if I don't do well... so what, move on to next game.
Usually I play survivor solo though, and it really isn't difficult to work as a team even without comms. Most players know what they should do without having voice chat.
I think the only problem with DbD is that too many people seem to expect to win every game.
Just play, do your best, and have fun.
-
Jack the Ripper.
Mainly because some late 19th century English cosmetics could be really cool.
-
It needs more time. And I dont just mean time to calibrate, but also times for the devs to monitor it and tweak the logic once they have a good sized data set to work with.
In the long run it will definitely be an improvement, we just need to ride the storm until then.
Also, to those saying ranks ARE an indicator of skill. They are only a very vague indicator. All you need is to be good enough to black-pip most of the time, and single-pip some of the time and you will move up the ranks in time.
The problem with ranks is they cannot identify those people mentioned above (the slow climbers) from the very skilled ones who can double-pip regularly.
Not to mention "noobs" who d/c to make sure they stay at the high ranks. It's not hard to see how easy it is to "fake" your rank.
-
Yes it's fair.
DS is a tunnel counter, you could have chased the other guy but you chose to re-hook and DS is the risk that comes with that choice.
-
After years of repeatly fixing the same gens over and over and over again... the game is still addictive as hell.
It doesn't need changing. Is it worth the risk of adding a new objective, and then it ends up ruining the game?
-
Yes it's fair, if you let it happen.
Counter flashlights by looking at walls when you pick up survivors.
Counter pallet drops by checking your surroundings before you pick up. Or slug them if you have a particularly trolling team.
If you are new to the game, I strongly suggest you stop caring if you win or lose games. You will enjoy it a lot more if you just play to have fun!
I mean, obviously still try to win. Just don't get worked up if it doesn't go to plan.
Rank means very little (even more so after the matchmaking rework) and you get blood points regardless of win or lose, so just enjoy the games that are fun, and play sweaty when you get a team of trolls.
-
I just play the game as it's meant to be played.
If you want to escape then earn it. No freebies. (Although the new hatch mechanic can end up being a freebie).
If someone d/c then I might ease up a bit. If it effects the game (i.e. d/c on final hook doen't effect anyone, so play as normal).
Having said that, killers deserve their blood points just as much as survivors. So why put yourself at a loss just because someone d/c. Why should survivor always get the special treatment in that case?
-
It depends on what you define as a successful game?
For me, 2 survivors escaping (even if I have to die for it to happen) is quite successful in my opinion, and that isn't difficult (especially with the new matchmaking system).
In general, neither side is overly challenging (on average). But sometimes you will get challenging games. That applies for both sides.
Basically, I have no idea what my answer is! ๐คฃ
-
I suggest you take your calendar back to the shop for a refund.
I think yours is missing some months... Most of us have something called "September" on ours!
๐
Coincidentally, I noticed earlier today I had some of those petal items. I think they were from that 2018 event.

Another cool power for Alien...
Each Gen has an egg on top of it. When the gen pops, there is a chance a face hugger will burst out and injure (or even insta-down) one of the nearby survivors.
Perhaps it latches on to your face to injure you and you have a skill check. Fail the skill check and you get insta-downed. Succeed and you only have an injury.
Something along those lines anyway.
-
Whoever voted for plague has clearly never had to worry about hitting a gag reflex before...
;-P
-
Well, it has to be Legion if we are getting a 2 for 1 deal!
-
I guess it's as good as some of the other new perks that seem to get added because they can't think of anything better. So why not add it to the "never gonna use" pile.
It would need an activation delay (like head on) though so you can't abuse it in a chase. So it's more of a counter for a killer getting lucky with a random locker check.
Could make for some really angry huntress' though who are just trying to refill hatchets!
-
Alien could be proper freaky.
Imagine if its power was to teleport to a gen, but it comes out the wall as if it was camouflaged there the whole time.
It could be a random gen too so its not always on one with survivors.
-
I don't care what reasons you think justify it, if you d/c you are a selfish brat. Simple as that.
Stop ruining the game for other people. So what if you don't survive. Just play to have fun and stop worrying about your rank so much.
The whole point of this game for a survivor is to work together as a team. If you d/c you just leave the others to suffer.
I have been at an open exit gate and sacrificed myself on rescues where I die and the other person survives. Multiple times. Thats part of the fun. Taking the risk and enjoying the rewards when it actually works out.
Stop playing with the expectation of winning every game and you will suddenly find you have a lot more fun overall.
Sorry if that seemed like a rant. I just feel really strongly about people who don't care about anyone but themselves.
-
Interested, but my concern with different game modes is that it will make queue times even longer than they already are.
Because there will be a smaller player pool of people wanting to play the same game mode as you.
-
It would be good for testing perks and killer powers that you aren't used to.
But I think it would be far too difficult to simulate real player behaviour in order to make it a useful "training" tool.
-
If you going to nerf moris, please adjust the trophy requirements for Blood on your Face.
It's one of only 4 trophies I still need in the base list (all 4 are killer trophies).
I have only attempted it twice but both times had survivor DCs that prevent me getting it. I don't play killer much so I don't have many offerings to attempt this with.
-
They have DC penalties? I never knew that... but that's awesome. Keep them in!
We need to weed out the rage quitters.
-
Casual. Simply because I find there is no reason to care about winning or losing (not even sure the definition of those in this game).
If a survivor dies early, or a killer doesn't get a kill, so what? The worst that happens is you de-pip... and honestly I don't care about my rank. I don't have anything to prove to anyone by being rank 1 all the time.
Other than rank, there is no motivation to care how the game plays out, so for me I don't view it as competitive.
And I am glad, because games that are too competitive are not fun at all, because too many people are bad losers. DbD has plenty of them already, and I never understand why they care so much...
-
How can we answer this question? Nobody knows for sure they are playing against a 4man SWF, right?
Ive had postgame messages from killers before complaining about 4man swf, when I was playing solo. I think people just assume too much.
-
I think it would be cool if we could cut open the cows and crawl inside them to hide.
Nice and warm too.
