  • For me there are 2 big qualifiers.

    1) I am a survivor main. I can not give a reasonable response to someone that would want to play as a killer. I don't have the knowledge or experience.

    2) I play on PS4. I can not speak to the the experience on any other platform.

Having said all that. My experience at this very moment is a resounding NO! Since the implementation of dedicated servers on the PS4 queue times for survivors have gotten significantly worse. Add to that the slugfest that has been happening since the update and there is no way I would recommend this to anyone. They would think I am insane for loving this game. I am starting to think I am insane for hoping against hope that things will get better.

Sorry lol there's just so many posts like this. Was just being a sarcy sausage 😂

No problem. I wasn't upset about your initial response. I was attempting a little good natured sarcasm, which is a bit hard to pull off with words on a screen. I agree there are lots of posts like this. It's just getting really annoying playing matches where gameplay consists of crawling on your stomach unable to do anything.

Gonna have to adapt to killers adapting.

It's less fun, but try bringing Tenacity with Unbreakable. Maybe botany as well to pick up slugs faster. Or hell, maybe even No Mither is a potential perk, with how many Billy's I've been seeing lately.

With anti slugging perks, killers won't slug anymore since it won't be efficient. And then the strategy evolves yet again to something else.

Or what will likely happen -- BHVR will just nerf slugging because apparently that's what they do when they do something deemed "unfun" before Survivors learn to play around it.

I suppose I am going to have to do some of that if I decide to keep playing DBD.

  • @Zeke089 said:

    Don't get slugged then

Gee. Thanks. That's helpful. If only it was that easy

  • Survivor queue times on PS4 are beyond ridiculous

  • @Speshul_Kitten said:

You must be new. Console is always treated as second class in the history of DBD.

That being said, your queue times will only be longer with the new Ruin nerf.

Only reason they’re not specifically at the moment is because of people wanting to test out Doctor and the nerfed *cough* I mean new, Ruin.

I've been playing for a long while. There have definitely been things console related I haven't liked in the past, but lived with because I enjoy the game. If something doesn't change with this I guess I will have to move onto something else. I don't really want to do so, but when I'm spending 2 to 3 times as long waiting for matches as I am playing it's quickly becoming not worth it.

  • @brokedownpalace said:

It's been 3-5 minutes for me. I would not wait 45 minutes. Are you closing out the search and trying again?

I've closed out a time or two. I've rebooted the PS4. I finally got a match. Took almost 55 minutes. Been waiting around 10 right now for another one.

  • I agree with the title. I don't think Freddy is fun to play against. At the same time I don't think there is anything OP about him or unfair in any way. For me the whole sleep/awake thing with alarm clocks and all that just makes matches against Freddy feel like a different game, and it's just one I don't enjoy as much.

Of course my biggest reason for not enjoying Freddy matches is I because I have always been a huge Nightmare on Elm Street fan, and that was mainly because of Freddy. The reason I loved Freddy is because he wasn't your typical horror film killer. He made jokes. He had personality. There is really no way to convey that in DBD. Portraying Freddy without being able to portray his personality does the character an injustice.

I do realize there is really no way for BHVR to put his personality in the game. I'm not saying he shouldn't be there. I just don't think a dispassionate killer is true to the character, and as a huge fan it makes him feel like an impostor in a Freddy costume.

Make sure that they didn't DC without the notification. Had a match earlier against a Myers where there were only 3 of us in the actual match. The 4th person got 21 points, and never showed up at all. I'm assuming they DC'd in some fashion, but no one got the indication and it never showed up in the post-match score screen.

Not sure how common this might be, but it's a possibility.

On the other hand, I think the Entity should block lockers, give it a 2 minutes cooldown, for anyone who's been in them for more than 30 seconds. I hate when people do things like this because it ruins the match for everyone.

Yes. Things like that would be great in place of what I mentioned

  • @Sonzaishinai said:

You're bassicly asking for the afk crows to come more swiftly?

I hadn't thought of that possibility until it was suggested earlier, but I think that would work as long as they came about 5 at a time and even louder than normal.

A number of posters in this thread have tried unsuccessfully to convey to you the penalties in place for immersive players (e.g. depips, reduced bloodpoints); yet, you continue to ignore this in order to build a case for your flimsy attempt to whine to the devs for unnecessary penalties. Just stop crying and move on to the next match.

And I don't agree those penalties are good enough. I am entitled to that opinion just as you are entitled to yours. But the moment you use insults you have lost my respect.

Plus telling people your thoughts and then telling them to move on is doing the exact thing you're criticizing me for. It's nothing more than saying "here's my opinion. You should just accept it and move along".

You are not accepting mine any more than I'm accepting yours. Yet you only find that wrong when I'm doing it. When you do it you find it acceptable. I respect your right to your opinion. I very much disrespect the way you give it.

That is not a peace offering. That is a veiled insult steeped in sarcasm from a pretensious, entitled poster who feels every response to his op should be in alignment with his thoughts. Sorry but you are wrong in my eyes. Again, save yourself the stress. Just move on.

Actually if you bothered to read the other comments others have disagreed and I've treated their disagreement with respect. I just don't respect someone who uses insults as part of their debate tactics. But again keep telling me to move on from my own post.

My points are every bit as valid as yours. You also seem to be incredibly sensitive. Perhaps dbd isn't your game. May I recommend Stardew Valley? That might more your speed.

You do realize you are the one that responded to a thread on a forum, don't you. You weren't required to respond. Yet you chose to do so. You chose to make comments about "it's only a game". Guess what this is only a post on a forum, but it was important enough for you to comment on and call me names.

The fact you can't see your own double standards is amazing. Regardless, I offer you this peace offering if it allows you to just move on as you obviously think others have the obligation to do, but you don't. Here it is:

Your arguments have convinced me. You are right and I was wrong. Your ability to call me names has won me over to your side. From here on out I will use your method when debating people on these forums. I will call them names and tell them to move on. You have inspired me. I will forever be your disciple.

  • @DocFabron said:

You can't really punish people for this. New players would get in trouble 24/7.

Sure you can. You may not agree that it needs to be done and that's fine. But if there were in game mechanics that made it detrimental to do nothing new players as well as the level 10 to 12 players I was playing with earlier would learn to do something other than hide and they would learn it quickly.

The devs are cerebral enough NOT to ruin their game by catering to a blathering whiner who wants to penalize survivors who want to play the game they bought the way they feel suits them. Again, it's a game at the end of the day.

Yes, because they never change anything based on input from players. Have you even been reading the forums lately with the whole ruin thing? You are really good at the ad hominem attacks. It's sad though when the best arguments you have are calling people names.

  • Did you even read my post? I explained what I would like to see done, and it wasn't a ban. As for the res of it... cool. I don't expect everyone to agree with me.

You should care, because queue lines would grow considerably and whiny babies like yourself would ultimately quit as well. Please stop crying like some entitled preteen who feels everything should be spoon fed to them and just move on. It's just a video game at the end of the day.

So I would wait longer, but wouldn't have to play in matches with people that just want to hide. I'm good with that.

I love the "whiny babies" and "crying like some entitled preteen" comments. The person whose best argument is to call someone else names wants to talk about maturity. Ironic.

The "feels like everything should be spoon fed to them" comment is gold too. I literally commented about people that do want their matches to be spoon fed to them by the people that are actually working on the objectives of the game.

Feel free to keep on calling people names and making baseless arguments. The rest of us will attempt to have conversations and hope you just move on. It's just a thread on a forum at the end of the day.

Identity V has way more agressive afk crows than dbd. They trigger if they dont interact with stuff (repair, heal, plunder, sabotage etc) within acertain timeframe.

The mechanic is already here, the afk crows, they only need some different conditions.

But it cant be too strict. "Too frustrating" lol.

I have played a little Identity V and love the game itself. I hate trying to control it on a phone screen though. But yes, more aggressive crows would help.

  • @ReallyBigShoe said:

There are already penalties (little to no bloodpoints, no XP, no PIP etc), and objectives are already mandatory to get anything from the game.

As I said in my post.... the people that play like this obviously don't care that they aren't getting points. They obviously don't care that they aren't ranking up and/or deranking. So those penalties are not enough. If they cared about those things they wouldn't be hiding the whole match. Those things are not enough.

  • @BenZ0 said:

Yeah agree. Sometimes if I get chased for over 5 min and still no single gen is touched or is finished. That should be srsly punishing for those who didnt do #########. Because I get punished too for that, because I will propably depip and die aswell. Get low points too.

    Exactly

  • I had only been playing the game about a month. Had a match where I managed to escape the killer a few times and he was salty about it. He had actually sent me messages while still playing about how he was going to get me. This was before EGC was implemented.

We had managed to get enough generators for the hatch to open. I ended up being last survivor and heard the hatch. The killer was fairly close too. Thought I would be able to beat him to it. Just as I made my jump to go down the hatch the killer caught me mid air. He hung me on a hook right next to the hatch facing it.

He hit me 2 or 3 times and sent me another quick I told you so message and calling me a few names. He then stepped just 2 or 3 steps away to break a pallet. Despite only having a 4% chance when I held that button to unhook it happened. I landed right on the hatch, hit the button and made it down before he could get there.

Sent him a quick message that said "Better luck next time"

  • @bigbeefynacho said:

Not that I play immersive, but if the devs implemented a penalty for something this stupid do you know how many people would just quit the game? I undersatand how frustrating it may be to play in a match with immersive players, but it is unfortunately a part of some survivors' playstyles. Stop whining and jist move on to the next match.

I don't think there would be as many quit as you might think. On the other hand I could really care less if the ones that play this way did quit. As for telling me to stop whining...... if you don't like what I have to say stop whining about it and just move on to the next thread.

Lmao. Claudette mains shaking at the thought of this.

I actually play Claudette, but only because she is able to be a little more stealthy if I'm trying to avoid the killer seeing me while I'm doing things that are actually useful. The ones that do it to just hide.... How is that even fun?

  • @Destructa said:

That's something common to see for me, Imagine if devs do something about it.. nah, it's not gonna happen.

For me it happened yesterday, there was only 2 of us left and 1 gen to be done, I had bond, the other guy was literally crouching in the same area for about 10 mins (the hatch was there) whyle I looped the killer, I tried bringging the killer to him cause I actually got mad at him not even trying to use my looping time to do the last gen, but the killer wanted me cause he couldn't land a hit...

Wanna know what I did? I took the killer exactly to the hatch, next to a hook and stood still, I died but... He did too

If I could have even seen any of the 3 I was playing with in this match I would have definitely brought the killer to them. I have no respect for that style of gameplay.

  • @asergioam said:

I'd rather it be a trade.

It transfers the hit from the person rescued to the rescuer. This preserves its purpose of protecting the rescued survivor but prevents completely unsafe hook rescues with no consequence.

I would love to see them make this change

  • @TragicSolitude said:

Dedicated servers just came to PS4, and sometimes the survivors are getting screwed over hard by it, I'm amazed they don't just disconnect. Failed skill checks, rubber banding. I dunno if the survivors saw themselves rubber banding or if to them it looked like I hit them from a mile away, but whatever, if the devs can't get this stuff in working order, then this is no time for DC penalties.

As a PS4 player I can attest to what you are saying. The dedicated servers have made things worse. Longer queue times are the worst part for me. I have noticed I am hitting far far less perfect skill checks since the dedicated servers came into play. It kinda sucks that they switched us to dedicated servers that cause slight time delays in a game where timing is rather important for many aspects.

  • After seeing the video I get it and I should have known better. I'm a survivor main, but the overwhelming majority of the time the people that annoy me the most when playing are other survivors.

You would think it would be really simple to figure out that running right into the middle of a situation like that and just making yourself another easy victim isn't the most intelligent way to play. However, that seems to be beyond the understanding of the survivors that end up on my teams every match. It seems there are a good percentage of survivors whose only strategy seems to be handing killers easy kills via hook farming, flashlighting, etc.

Why I even entertained the thought that you went out of your way to slug these survivors is beyond me. I watch it match after match. Survivors playing with absolutely zero strategy and just handing themselves to the killer. They deserve to be slugged. It just sucks being in constant crap match watching everyone else get slugged because they have no strategy whatsoever. It makes it hard to get BP or level up. I honestly can't blame any killer for that though.

I rarely DC as well and I would probably DC for that. What, you have infectious fright so you can’t hook the guy you downed? Or even the first two? Going for the third guy is overkill.

Exactly. If I was translating the original post it would read like this. "I got lucky in the fact that I spawned near 3 survivors. I slugged all of them. I ensured none of them would get any points. I ensured none of them would have any fun. I sucked every bit of incentive out of the match for the people I slugged. Now I will attempt to castigate them for it."

  • @ggezbaby said:

Coming from a killer main, maybe try not slugging the whole team in the first minute. I don’t blame them for disconnecting.

I know it's taboo to say you ever condone a DC, but I agree with you. Slugging three people within the first minute ensures no one is getting points, no one is ranking up, no one is having fun. I rarely DC, but yeah I probably would have in this situation myself. I seriously wonder why the other one didn't

    Hello,

I have a point what bothers me and that is camping. Killers are having no skill and they are just facecamping. I think this should be punishable🤔 This happens allot and imo it's the same as cheating. Please do something about it. 😊

While I agree with you that camping is generally a sign of a killer that has very little skill the answer is not to make rules that punish a killer that camps. The punishment for camping needs to come from survivors playing smart. The main reason killers camp is because survivors don't play smart and they make camping an easy strategy.

If a killer camps do not reward him. If you are the one hanging there while he camps make sure you don't DC and when the time comes struggle. Make him waste as much time as possible camping you. Give the other survivors time to get gens done, or find a hex totem or whatever.

At the same time if a killer is camping someone else don't make it easy on the killer. Don't go running to the hook trying to pull that person off. All that does is reward the camping behavior. You are just giving the killer another easy kill.

If survivors would just play smart you would see a lot less camping because it would be a far less useful strategy. There is no need to punish killers though for taking what survivors willingly hand them match after match.

  • Is this happening with all PS4 players? I haven't noticed any differences in game, but my lobby times have gotten way way worse the last couple days.

  • I'm not gonna say the ruin change was good or bad. I could care less. Honestly I just find this forum more entertaining than the game itself at the moment. Every time there is a change one side complains that it is unfair to them. The other side scoffs. You hear the same talking points:

    • This change was necessary to balance the game or the game is now completely skewed towards the other side
    • The change is unfair and you are just whining or the change made it fair and you are just upset you no longer have an unfair advantage
    • The way it was before was just a crutch for weak players so you just need to get better or the change is the crutch

Then suddenly a change comes along that goes the opposite way and the roles are reversed.

Oh, and of course if you disagree with someone you are obviously either a noob that doesn't know what they are talking about or a bad player that just wants it easy.

  • I would fundamentally change perks and abilities. They wouldn't work the same way they do now.

There would be stats for survivors and killers. Things like running speed, gen speed, noise level, etc for survivors. They would offset. A survivor that runs a little faster might be a little louder. There could be more categories, Those are just examples. As a survivor main I won't even attempt to presume I know what categories killers should have, but you get the idea.

Perks would be earned by completing objectives in match. They would be a reward for doing the things you should be doing. As a survivor - work on a generator for a certain amount of time you might get a slight speed perk for a few seconds when you leave the generator. Remove someone from a hook and you become quieter for a few seconds. Those types of things.

I'll try not to get too deep into killer stuff as I am a survivor main. But for example if you are playing as ghostface you have to complete a certain objective to get his stealth ability to activate. It lasts a specific amount of time and the goes away. You have to complete objectives again to reactivate it. Same for the abilities of other killers. While a survivor is hooked gen speeds go down.

I would also have penalties in place for certain things. If you are a survivor and haven't touched a gen, healed someone, unhooked, or cleansed a totem, or been chased by the killer for 30 seconds your stats get dropped until you do one of those things. If your speed gets reduced and you get caught by the killer maybe next time you won't be a potato. If a killer stands within a certain meter radius of a hooked survivor while no other survivors are near the gen speed reduction mentioned above gets taken away while the killer is in that radius.

Last change I would make is this: If a survivor DC's they are required to wait until the game they left is completely finished before they can enter a new lobby. If a survivor gets killed they can go ahead and enter a new lobby immediately, but if you DC in the first 30 seconds of a match and the match goes 20 minutes you aren't playing again until the match you left finishes.

The TLDR version: Survivors and killers would have stats that determine certain abilities. Perks would be time limited bonuses earned for completing objectives in match. They wouldn't be equipped before the match starts. Certain actions would decrease your stats temporarily to discourage play that makes the game less fun for everyone else.

Anyway, that's just me. I love the idea of perks being earned in match for actually playing effectively as opposed to perks/hexes/etc that are just there from the start.

  • I brought bourbon and peanut butter balls. When a killer uses a mori on me I eat one of the peanut butter balls. When NOED pops up I take a shot of bourbon. When I read the title of this post I thought you were trying to encourage me to drink more bourbon and eat another peanut butter ball. So I did.

Disclaimer: I don't actually need a reason to take a shot of bourbon, but NOED seems as good a reason as any.

    Cheers!

  • I play on PS4. Can specifically say I had a match tonight where I was standing on top of an open hatch and didn't even get an option to exit.

  • Having one of those myself. I've been teamed up with survivors today that I can only assume are trying to complete last minute challenges because most of them have had zero interest in completing a generator.

  • @SnakeSound222 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/954202#Comment_954202

Was this during the PTB for patch 2.0.0 where you could close the Hatch and the Survivor had to finish the gens to escape? If it wasn't then why didn't the EGC start after the Killer closed the Hatch? I was thinking that the EGC would've killed you or you could've opened a gate.

Wow. i was apparently on autopilot as I typed that. Should have said killer had already found the hatch and it was right in the middle of everything. I'm so used to saying the killer closed the hatch that it just came out that way.

  • I've only had this happen once that I can remember. Had a match where I was unfortunate enough to be the last survivor and just needed 1 generator. The remaining 3 generators were all extremely close together and the killer had already closed the hatch. The killer stood in the middle of the 3 where he could see and hear any of them. No matter which one I tried to work on the killer was on top of me within a couple of seconds.

I would run away. He wouldn't chase me. He would just hit the generator to eliminate what little progress I had made and go back to the point in the middle of the 3. I tried several times. Finally I realized I wasn't going to be able to get one of the final 3 gens. I went and found every totem and cleansed it. I found every chest and searched it.

I would occasionally sneak up to a side of one of the gens where the killer couldn't see me and tap it just to make him run to it. After about 10 minutes of that the killer messaged me and told me he was going to report me for holding the game hostage and he wasn't going to allow me to get one of the final 3 gens so I may as well just come allow myself to be killed.

I was actually about to do just that. At least until he told me he was going report me and I was holding the game hostage. After getting the message I ran to the furthest corner of the map and stood there for 20 minutes until he finally DC'd.

  • I'd be thrilled if they learned to do away with the challenges that have to be completed in one match. They created a massive amount of DC's with those.

  • The only time I DC is when it is obvious a killer and survivor are working together. Not referring to farming. I mean when a killer and survivor are working together for points at everyone else's expense. It's rare, but it happens and I just DC and go to the next game.

Having said that I think BHVR could help the DC issue. A penalty is needed for DCing, but that isn't what I am talking about. There are elements BHVR has put in this game that incentivize DCing.

Mori's are perfect examples. I understand why survivors want to DC when they know the killer has a Mori. In the hands of a good killer a Mori is almost a guarantee of a short boring game with very few bloodpoints where you have a good possibility of a depip whether you DC or not. Given the choice of be killed with a mori and depip or just DC, depip and get to start a new match sooner many people are going to just DC. It may not be right, but I can at least understand.

Many of the challenges contribute to DCing. Lots of people are just going to DC if they were trying to complete a single match challenge and something happened that made it impossible. They were only playing to complete the challenge at that moment anyway so they just DC so they can start a new match and try again.

I'm not claiming BHVR put those things into the game because they want people to DC. At the same time it does create an incentive to do so. I honestly think at some point BHVR has to realize some elements of this game make DCing the most convenient option, and just maybe those elements need to be removed or revamped in some way.

  • I only do it under certain circumstances. The main one is a killer that camps and immediately tunnels someone the moment they are removed from a hook. At that point my game is over whether I suicide on hook or wait to be hung 2 more times. In that situation I choose to move on to the next game. I'm not going to waste my time waiting on someone that has already proven they are simply going to immediately tunnel me for 2 more hooks.

1 2 3 4 5 6 … 8
