I always just assumed that it was a cocky, smartass thing to do until I heard the explanation. I imagine that most people who don't use these forums or trade in DBD intermediate tactics probably assume the same thing.
That said, if they get really mad about it, that's on them. It's not like it makes things any more difficult or unfair for them or anything. I know that whenever someone smacks me while I'm on the hook I just figure either "they're cutting off my scream" or I just don't care regardless. I'd say not to worry about it. If someone wants to take it personally, let them. Not your problem.

That is happening so many times to me. So many times i am losing my totem before i saw it :d Survivor respawning with totem
Sorry to hear that. That would definitely suck.
I think that at some point BHVR really needs to take a closer look at their RNG and see some of the discrepancies with it. Survivors shouldn't be spawning next to generators (which happens to me all the time) nor totems. Similarly, killers shouldn't be spawning withing a ten second walk of survivors (which is also happening to me with irritating frequency). With 30-odd maps, we shouldn't be getting the same 2 or 3 maps 10 times a day.
-
Thanks for the explanations guys, I suppose that makes sense.
-
Honest question - don't take offense - but why do so many people watch these DBD streamers instead of just playing the game themselves? To each their own, I'm not saying it's "bad", I just never understood why someone who's interested in a game would rather just watch someone else play it when they could be having the fun instead.
-
This is weird, I've never seen totems in such blatantly obvious locations before. For me they're always tucked behind objects, in room corners, etc. I never saw one just openly exposed in such a way.
-
I noticed tonight that gens kept exploding - like multiple gens, multiple times in a row, like someone was firing off canons - even after the survivors had already made it into the exit gate. That's either a really weird bug or someone was messing with the game tonight.

why? whats the point running a killer there doesnt make you good, and if you are bad you arent learning anything from it, and its funny because most of the ppl who bring haddonfield complain about camping and tunneling, haddonfield is how to tell me youre insecure about your skill without telling me youre insecure.
I like the map.

I think we can ignore the 4%. In both cases you rely on your teammates almost the same. And when you are slugged you can crawl to your team. I personally prefer being slugged.
Sure, the 4% is negligible, but I've still unhooked myself a few times. When my game was going to end anyway, that at least gave me a chance. I've also been in a situation where I was slugged and the other remaining survivor was hooked, but he got himself free and saved me. No way it could been the other way around.
Sometimes I prefer being slugged, sure. Just not usually.

If you take on the role as a killer, you should never play nice. Most fun for us survivors is facing "toxic" killers. I don't understand killers who try to please survivors in any way.
I love letting survivors go. I don't care about wins and losses, I play this game to relax and have fun. And if we all get points at the end and some survivors get to go off seeing that not all killers are jerks, it makes me feel good and helps to reduce the negativity of the community even if only by a tiny little bit.
Sportsmanship, on either side, makes me happier than winning does.
-
I don't recall the specifics because this has actually happened quite a few times but I've played entire matches and escaped without the killer ever crossing paths with me. I was active, I didn't just hide the whole time (I hate teammates who just hide all match), I was simply very cautious about what I did and when. In one of these matches one of the teammates sent me post-game chat accusing me of the very hiding that I hate and I simply pointed out that our scores were almost the same and I survived whereas he didn't, so it looks like I was the one who did something right.
This was within my first couple of weeks of play, while I was still very green and only just starting to learn the ropes. As such I was always kind of proud of myself for this play:

I was getting chased up to the camera room of The Game by a Leatherface. I vaulted the window and just stayed at the bottom when I landed. He vaulted, fell over me and went down the hole to the bathroom assuming I'd gone down there. That's a knee slapper.
That's actually hilarious.

But isnt it the same like being on a hook?
Not nearly as long though, and no way to try to get free of the situation. When you're slugged you MUST rely on a teammate's help unless you're running specific perks.
-
Just like being facecamped, it's simply not fun. It's really not any more complicated than that. No one likes to just sit there not being able to play the game.
Before anyone jumps on me, I'm not saying it's cheating or toxic (unless, as stated above, the remaining survivors are deliberately left to bleed out just to waste their time). It just isn't fun having no real recourse other than sitting there and hoping that a teammate can help you.

Well like I said, I am also SEVERELY limited on my perks. So I don't have all the desired tools to properly do the job. The ones I have at least do something moderately useful, but it's by no means a build of any sort. Something with synergy, and targeted effects according to the current gamestate's needs. It's just a collection of moderately useful vanillas. And thus, we come back to the BP grind... And while I have to try to grind BP, I'm meanwhile randomly going against rank 1 SWF's as a rank 13 Killer.
Just... not... a good time, my dudes...
Do keep in mind that the ranks are messed up right now. You won't always be going against people a dozen points away from your rank. No one should.
And remember, though this game is a grind, there's no reason to rush it. If you just play and try to have fun, try to focus on improving and attempting different strategies and so forth, the BP will start piling up before you know it. Don't play the game angry to just get to a good perk or what have you, play the game to have fun. Sure, it will be more fun when you get that awesome perk, but if you don't allow yourself to enjoy the game before that time then it will FEEL like a grind and a chore.
I guess what I'm saying is that when I first began playing this game I didn't even know about the perk system and all that. I just had fun messing around, trying to win, trying to take everything in. Then, eventually, I got to the point where I could prestige one of my characters. I was super excited. But after reading that prestiging them resets them to their vanilla state, I realized "what's the rush"? I'll just prestige when this character runs out of items. There's not really an endgame to be had here, DBD is all about playing lots of matches. If you can do so (and yes, I know it IS hard sometimes, no doubt), try to be playing those matches for fun, not for progress. The progress will come, no matter what. No matter how badly you may play or how irritatingly good the other side is, you WILL earn points and you WILL make progress. Take this time to try to chill and just relax with the game, don't push yourself so hard.
And, again, remember - the rank issue is screwing a lot of people up right now.
-
As a survivor I absolutely despise the teammates who just make little moves from bush to bush or locker to locker, waiting out the entire game (or at least my hook struggling) because they know where the hatch is and they're just hiding until they can get the escape points. It makes me wonder what the ultimate point is. What, to put more points into all of the other characters that you will also just stand around with? I mean if you're not playing the game to actually PLAY then why even turn the damn game on?
That said, I'm on the fence as to whether to call that "toxic". I regard "toxic" behavior to be the kind of behavior that deliberately sets out to ruin someone else's game. Those players aren't necessarily trying to ruin my game, they're just looking out for themselves. While there ARE rules and report buttons that lean in that direction, there's nothing that says a player HAS to be altruistic, HAS to always go for the hook, HAS to play in a way that puts themselves at greater risk to themselves. I'm reminded of this when other survivors occasionally complain to me about "staying away from the action" or "sneaking too much" or "letting them do most of the gens". If I hang back and look for safe windows of opportunity to free my teammates, or do gens, or remove hexes, etc., that's my prerogative. I may piss some people off for being that way, but they also probably have no idea that the game gives much more points to players who throw themselves into chases with the killer so I'm already being punished, so to speak, for my more conservative playstyle. I may hate the people who LITERALLY just hide, but there are other players who hate me for not being, in their minds, active enough.
As for camping, tunneling and slugging, it absolutely SUCKS to be the person on the receiving end, but it's fair strategy considering that doing so leaves the killer vulnerable to smart players who take that time to get gens done.
What I consider to be truly toxic behavior is survivors working with killers (since that is deliberately sabotaging the game for all other people in the match and deliberately dismissing the game's entire purpose in the most blatant way possible) and people saying truly wretched things to someone else (slurs, threats, urging suicide) in post-game chat. To me everything else that's super annoying is...well, super annoying, but not necessarily without purpose or detrimental to the gameplay.

This game is BHVR-sided. Let's get 'em.

I don't know how Survivor actions that instigate the BM stems from me being frustrated and angry...
At any rate, thanks for the stream/advice offer, but I'm just done with this game, man. The BP grind is annoying enough. Dealing with SWF's that then treat you like a subhuman just makes it that much worse.
For whatever reason, I have a hard time just "ignoring bad behavior". This is frequent in lots of games. I tend to last longer in games where I can do something about it in-game. But in DBD, I also just feel powerless.
And perkless lol.
Powerless & perkless!
Meh...
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2198170#Comment_2198170
It wasn't even. It was 50% Survivor BM, almost 50% neutral games, and 1 single game my BM.
I do, of course, say this as someone who believes that once someone starts the fight, anything and everything they receive during the fight is deserved, and can't be held against the person who simply responded.
Anyway, I do understand the advice to ignore. But, I dunno, it's hard for me. It's a pet peeve of mine, "People getting away with bad behavior in plain sight."
I guess I'm just saying that by letting the negativity get to you so much, and throwing that negativity back, you're kind of perpetuating a cycle that only continues to exist for YOU. When the jackass players move on, they've already forgotten your name and jumped into the next match. You, however, retain the irritation with how they might have acted or what they might have said. You're the one left to deal with it while those idiots are already off teabagging or sending lame messages to someone else. We've all been bothered by immature opponents, but you really do have to just kind of ignore it and try to start each match as a fresh attempt to try again. Don't push so hard and look at the game as a chore to grind, look at it as something fun. It's just a game, and at the end of the day those bloodpoints don't really even do a whole lot. When you think about it, they just buy more of the same items and keep the gameplay loop going. Leveling up a character doesn't really change much and leveling up your rank just makes things more irritating, lol.
So I mean I don't know, I get where you're coming from. We're all human, we all get annoyed by things. And I know that NOT being annoyed isn't just a switch that a person can flip. But as long as the actions of other players have such a strong effect on how you feel and behave in response, you're unintentionally allowing those players to steal your game, steal your happiness, steal your good time from you. If it does bug you that much, it's understandable to take a break or some time off. But the game does get better with time, experience and patience, and if you can get to a point where you can just laugh off or ignore the poor behavior of others - if you can break the cycle of negativity for yourself - then you'll have a much better time.
I know it's not always easy, believe me. Again, massive anxiety sufferer here. But try to just have fun, accept that there's no real difference between a win and a loss in this game, none of you guys know or each other or likely ever will, and just enjoy the gameplay itself. The bad guys want to get under your skin. Don't let them.
-
I didn't watch the videos but from the summary it sounds like there was a pretty even amount of trash talking on both sides.
All I'll say at this point is that you shouldn't let the flashlights and teabagging bother you so much. It's annoying, yes, most killer players don't like it, but it's just kind of part of the game. I mean if you're going to be angry at everyone who does it, you're going to spend a lot of time angry with this game.
That said, sure, survivors saying stuff like "we reported you for camping" or "no wonder you're rank XYZ, enjoy it loser" is definitely pathetic. In my experience though it's not very frequent. You just throw back an "lol" or say nothing at all and move on. This is a weird thing to say considering that I have a bad anxiety disorder, but sometimes you just have to let stuff go. It's not worth getting overly stressed about.
-
I've been hoping for a simple thumbs up or something myself. Just a nice way of indicating good job or "hey, thanks".
Of course any positive emote will just be abused to mock the killer while teabagging, thus confusing the entire meaning of the gesture in-game, but at least it will work for some players.
-
The new way to survive is simply being able to counter the Plague's barf by pulling out...an UMBRELLA!!!
...I'll leave.

Amazing, another player blaming every problem that the game has on one side, these forums really never change.
Not taking sides here but with the amount of perpetual spite between the two sides the developers are eventually going to have to add a "referee" class. Someone being accused of tunneling too much? Ask the in-game refs what they think. A survivor playing in a way that seems boring or rushed to the killer? Signal to the in-game ref for a timeout.

Aww, thank you so much for saying so! It really means a lot.
While I can play the game as intended... decently enough when there's an achievement or archive on the line (I just had to kill someone asking me for mercy at the exit gates to get Adept Clown last match, and I still feel bad about it), I find I'm just having way more fun when I don't kill anyone and instead play extreme tag with them. I'll get my two hooks on everyone and then just start messing with people - or even earlier, if something funny happens. Everyone gets out, everyone gets a lot of points, and everyone had ample chance to play the game - everyone has a good time, and good vibes all around is what makes me happy. If throwing a match gets me nods and item donations at the exit gate, I'll happily throw the match. And hey, the lack of heavy upwards pipping that comes from rarely getting more than Bronze devout keeps me out of red ranks, where I'm likelier to run into less fun, more competitive survivors. (If friendly survivors at the exit gates make my day, clickers and tbaggers do the opposite.)
I've had some fun nonviolent matches today like so - I played Hag, got Rotten Fields, groaned because the entire map is 'Do you like eyesight? Too bad.', and just decided to spam all my traps in the killer shack and chase away anyone approaching it like a grumpy old homeowner. After about three downs without hooking anyone, the survivors started approaching me. David started getting cute and popping all my traps while I tried to reset them, playing chicken with the angry old lady, and Yui built me a shrine of items (including her white warded purple medkit with gel dressings, which was way too generous!) And I had an adept Clown attempt where I rolled Ormond, immediately decided it was not worth trying seriously on such a large map, and spent the whole game chucking yellow bottles at survivors and watching them panic until they realized what I was doing. Then Feng motioned at me to follow her and the both of us stared up in awe at Felix, who had crowned himself king of the map by glitching up onto one of the rock piles.
Really cool hearing from other Pig enjoyers and how they handle the sacred boop. I love that clip of the secret boop cult. I would have been so confused and anxious not finding anyone by that point in the match, haha. I also try to get the last survivor to join in if most of the survivors have turned the game into a boopfest, because it's not fair for me to single them out and only go after one person - feels way too much like ganging up for comfort. If they won't stop running away, downing them and then dropping them next to the other survivors to heal up is a good way to show that you're not aggressive. The ones that keep running away after that usually just want to leave the match and aren't interested in farming or memeing.
There's been times when I stabbed a survivor trying to boop me because I didn't understand what they were doing in time, and I've picked them up and dropped them until they're back on my feet. I think those are my favorite, because not a single one of them has ever run away when given the chance. They just go straight back to boopery. Pig's my second favorite killer because there's this elaborate agreement around her where both parties have a universal language and cues to initiate, and no matter how many times people go against Piggies that are out for blood, they still try to check to see if the next one has a friend switch on her snoot.

Twinsies! I have waaaaaay more fun in matches where it's all about the chases and "tag" than worrying about kills/sacrifices. It's particularly fun for me because I play Plague, so I basically run around vomiting on everyone and whacking them with my censer. LOL
Yep, all this. :)

Usually, the boops come at the end of the match when things look lost for a last survivor, lol. But not always. I had an entire team once on the old Game waiting for me downstairs to all Boop (it took me a while to find them -- I thought for a minute I was in a bugged match with no survivors!). When it's a game like that, it turns into a farm fest -- I've even depipped before, because I refuse to kill a Booper. If people are Booping out of the gate and someone else isn't, I still won't kill the holdout -- I don't want to single someone out -- so I eventually am able to convince those wary survivors that they're going to be safe (usually after downing them and letting someone right there rescue them or letting them wiggle off). The only exception is that it's not a "get-out-of-jail-free-card" if you did something toxic earlier in match (I only will really define that as someone who teabags me relentlessly and taunts earlier in the match -- attempting to Boop me when you're going to die doesn't get you off scot free then, lol).
Every Pig plays different -- I just believe you need to be consistent how you treat things in a match and not play it differently from one match to another.
Here's the match clip from the group that waited for me. I have dozens of examples of people who Booped who lived as a result -- I'm just a big softie when it comes to those instances (though it doesn't extend to any other killer I play!).
LOL this too, and I remember that footage. I loved it the first time I saw it. In fact that might actually have been my introduction to the boop. I still don't understand how it became a thing, but I enjoy that it has. I really do think I might just start playing some games that let the survivors win. It's a nice feeling. Though if someone's really asking for it, we'll see what happens. :)
Hey Kate Main, I can't find your invite! Did you send it through Steam or in-game? My blind ass probably just missed it.
-
I think a lot of the point here is that the maps appear to have become less atmospheric over time. Brighter, much less fog / mist. Games like this need creepy ambiance to help immerse the player into the horror themes, and it seems like they've toned it back over time for some reason.

Well, I have no idea why people hate Midwich, probably because they don't like holding W to navigate through the map, but who knows?
As for Lery's, this was just my opinion, but by the Entity I loved that map! It is hard to explain why, I just really liked that eerie feeling. And I would do anything to see this again:
OUCH. That is gorgeous. I almost wish I hadn't seen it...
-
Lery's is another of my favorite maps. I seem to favor many of the maps that others hate for some reason: Haddonfield, Hawkins, Lery's, Gideon's, Red Forest, Midwich. Then again the only ones I don't really like are Dead Dawg and the swamp.
What made Lery's so much better in the day and why is Midwich considered a bad map for both sides?

Friendly rounds (and that doesn't even necessarily mean don't kill anyone, though that's certainly an extra bonus) are a lovely thing, especially given the levels of toxicity in this game (which have been on the rise for some reason).
From the survivor side, I never expect to be allowed to live if I boop the snoot. Some Pigs will walk away from you after a boop, and I've had some who, after the boop, still stabbed me. laugh But I don't care, I love love LOVE the snoot boop - I like to think that maybe the Killers are getting tired of the Entity's Realm and feel a sense of solidarity with the survivors because of it. I wish there were more ways for the Killer and survivors to interact in actual friendly ways (what I wouldn't give for some sort of Killer "wave" emote in-game. I'm a pretty friendly Killer, and my only purpose is earning bloodpoints. I don't care about getting kills. I can walk out of a match where all four escape and still make 25k+, so why not let the survivors make bloodpoints as well? I'd love to be able to wave goodbye to them at the Exit Gate :)
That's awesome. It's nice to see that there are others who share my enthusiasm for friendly killer play. Like you said, as killer I can get points in other ways so why not let the survivors have a lot of points as well? I don't care about the "loss". In fact if anything it keeps me from the more toxic higher (lower?) ranks. It would definitely be nice to be able to communicate more directly with the survivors during a match. The best I can usually do is nod or kind of pivot my head and body like "over here!" but that usually doesn't register. I also understand a survivor's apprehension to trust the killer (especially when there are more devious players taking advantage of the boop. I don't like violating people's trust like that. I know, it's just a video game and I know, the main goal is to prevent the other side from achieving theirs, but if a player is going to be cool enough to drop their guard and trust me I take that as a sign of respect and it feels good to repay it. As we've all been talking about, it would be nice to lower some of the bitterness and animosity that's been flowing through the community.

By the Entity, that is exactly why Midwich is my favourite map! It just feels creepy, it feels right.
And yes, the Fog must return, we should embrace spookiness again.
I'm glad I'm not the only person who loves Midwich. SO many complaints about my favorite maps, almost always boiling down to "please disable it, it's too survivor-sided". And before anyone accuses me of being a pallet abuser, I SUCK at Midwich, lol. I just love the style and atmosphere.
To me it feels like the mist and spooky ambiance has gone down even in just the couple of months that I played the game. Maps feel way too clear, just urban areas and not part of some ethereal realm. I would jack up the mist by at least 25 percent and darken the maps by at least 10-20. Then again I think a lot of people play with their brightness turned really high for tactical advantages, everyone says that Coldwind is now too blindingly bright and that is absolutely not the case for me (not that I don't wish that we still had some night maps on Coldwind).
-
I've noticed that 3 and 2 generators left is almost always the swing point, if there's going to be one. It's really kind of amazing how many killer comebacks I've seen when it feels as if the survivors are getting close to escape.
-
The PC version is supposedly the best in terms of smoothness, performance, etc., but I don't know, people also say that the Switch version is terrible and I have no problems with it. Hell yeah. Welcome to the Pig side. We have survivors randomly running up to you and gesture spam. Oh, the number of times I've charged straight at someone only for them to crouch and point.
Every Pig has different booping etiquette. I turn nonaggressive to that survivor when booped, and I'll just go completely passive and stop attacking anyone if 3 survivors boop and the last one is scared, but others will play the game normally but spare the booper at the end, or give special treatment to the first or last player to boop them. Decide what you want to do with the friendly survivors and then do it.
I keep trying to help survivors find the gnome, but I'm being extraordinarily unlucky with it - I've only managed to spot the little bastard a few times, so mostly I just end up leading survivors on a merry tour of the map and then hitting them for that speed boost to the gate once things start cutting it close.
Once again I'm finding you to be one of the most enjoyable presences on this forum. I always like reading your posts.
I love Amanda! I loved her in the Saw movies and I love that she's in the game. I enjoy using her when I play killer but again, I just don't play killers that often. I've chosen her more than most of the other available characters though. Today was my first "booping" and again, I couldn't help but find it cute that the meme is apparently known well enough that one of the four characters IMMEDIATELY knew what I was doing, for all she knew I could have been crouching for the dash attack. But nope, she turned right around for the boop, and then survivor 2 and eventually 3 (and, finally, 4) joined the line. It was just neat. How could I kill these people after that?
I DO like playing the game as killer to the extent that I can get some chases, hits and hooks, but as previously mentioned I also go out of my way to leave them alive. No camping, no slugging, and I prefer to open the exit or bring someone to the hatch if possible. Someone's accused me (in general, he was accusing multiple people) of simply making excuses for not being good. I don't need to make excuses, I'm NOT very good as the killer, lol. But still I can more or less hold my own. I just legitimately enjoy being decent when I can, because the couple of killers who went out of their way to be decent to me left a big impression. There's too much hate, negativity and tribalism in this world. If I can make just a tiny, wee little difference in someone's day, make them feel just a bit happy even for a minute in a silly video game, then hey, that makes ME happy.
I guess if someone goes for the boop I'll have to just figure out a way to indicate to them during gameplay that I respect them for their trust and would like to play as normal but in a friendly, not especially aggressive fashion. I'll have to think on that one, lol.

Invite sent!
I definitely enjoy those moments when a Killer is obviously showing mercy or trying to express that they feel bad for something. I had a Bubba who recently shook 'no' to me after someone unhooked me right in front of him and then bolted. I just crouched since I knew I was going right back on the hook but he let me go for a bit! It kind of made my night!
Nice, thank you! I try to play this game every day, at least every couple of days, roughly daytime to evening US Central time. If you ever see me online, feel free to invite me to your game!
That Bubba situation sounds really cool. I've never quite experienced that myself but I've heard of it. Someone here once said that they were brought to the exit by a killer (might actually have been Bubba, coincidentally), but they (the survivor) shook "no" to indicate that Bubba had earned the kill. Bubba shook his head no in response and left.
I said this elsewhere a couple of days ago but it bears repeating: It might sound like flowers and rainbows but what can I say? It's true: I care more about having fun and everyone having a good game than I care about winning.

What do you play on? I'll definitely send you an invite - especially if I see you in game! 😊
I feel the same way! When I'm going against what is clearly a new Killer and they are struggling I will finish the gens and ensure that all my teammates need to do is leave and then I'll try to guide the Killer to hook me. Or I'll let them get a hit in before I go so that they can at least feel accomplished. I don't know if it helps but I like to think it makes them excited, especially when they get to the after game screen and see that they were unfairly put in a match with someone beyond their rank.
That's very considerate of you, I wish that more people played with that kind of mentality. I'm by no means a great killer, but I'm often okay at holding my own. And I don't know, I just like letting the survivors know that I'm not going to go hard on them. I understand that some wouldn't like that, they'd prefer a serious challenge, but they likely find plenty of those. I think that someone who, for example, will chase and swipe and maybe sometimes hook but otherwise not make a serious attempt to kill them is probably not the type of opponent that they usually face. It's hard to explain, I just feel good doing it. It's sometimes surprising how pleasant the survivors themselves will be as well when they know that you're more than just an anonymous jerk on the other end of the screen. I've gotten the exit gate teabag (I always do. All of us do, lol) only to nod, and then see them stop teabagging and nod back. Like "Oh, the killer is actually a good guy? I'm going to quit messing with him and respect him in return".
I play on the PC and the Switch Lite - mainly on the PC. I'd be happy to game with you, I'm always looking for people who are fans of the "just have fun and be decent to each other" variety.

You could try playing a game of killer and send the survivors in your lobby messages beforehand asking for help getting the gnome? It's not a perfect solution, but might be less stress inducing.
This. I just made a topic about how I was good to the survivors so when the endgame began most of us ran around, I think looking for the gnome. I managed to find it but then the others left, they may not have known that he respawns.
Anyway yeah, if I'm the killer and I see a chat message asking for help with the gnome challenge, I'd absolutely pitch in. I'm probably in the minority, but it never hurts to ask.

Bless your heart! The occasional friendly round is always refreshing and sweet.
I'm still waiting for a Killer who sees a Kate running circles around trees and pinballing around during end game breakdown and doesn't think 'easy hook' and down me. 😭In one of my last rounds the Bubba downed me and started to carry me and I foolishly thought 'he's taking me to gnome!' and didn't struggle. We crossed the entire map and went... To basement. LOL
Aw, thank you. If you ever want to add me, or just keep an eye out for me, I'm the same "miketheratguy" in-game as I am here on the forums. If I see a Kate going bonkers I'd definitely try to help her out. :)
I honestly enjoy going easy on survivors more than killing them. At most I'll hook them the two times but never a third, nor do I ever let anyone bleed out. I like to just chill and relax with my video games and I find it much more rewarding to "make contact" with the survivors - a challenge in itself - and let them see that I'm not going to sweat them and will allow them to get the escape. I'm in no hurry to max out my characters or anything like that. I like just playing the game. If it's competitive (sometimes even if it's not) and I let them win, we all get good points and they hopefully feel as good about the experience as I did the few times that killers were cool to me. I love sportsmanship, I like to think that the people I let go feel that the community is just a tiny bit less toxic than they thought. :)

What if you put traps on all of their heads and then let them pop the last gen, then opened the exit gate to start EGC and they all had to find a gnome before there head goes kablooey
Then I would have felt bad. I think I may not be killer material. XD

You know, I always thought poorly of the Spirit which I felt kind of bad about.
So I went to meet her in a bar and clear the air.
Didn't work out though. The bar didn't have any counters.
Well, at least you ensured that the bar now has spirits.

Look behind you a lot when she's chasing you. If you see her start to teleport, stop running and walk backwards (in the direction she was just in) for a few steps. With any luck she'll have gone past you and you can start running the other way.
It's all I got. It's all anyone's got. If you're up against the Spirit just find a corner to cry in while you compose an email to BHVR asking why they keep fiddling around with every other character but refuse to nerf HER.

Yes, I am. I hesitated buying the Switch version after my first month with the game on PC. I saw that cross progression was (and supposedly still) coming soon, with no real information beyond that. But then the game went on sale so I figured "eh, $15 bucks to have a portable copy of this game really isn't bad".
I've read that some people have had problems with it, and if you look for reviews most are from when the game first released on the system, when it was full price and still had glitches. It even used the old UI back then. The game's great now as far as I'm concerned. Play on the Lite is almost as smooth as butter. I just don't know if I'd be able to do cross-progression now that I've put a bunch of hours into it.

I like Plague quite a bit. Never played her yet but she's really fun to go against. I love the sound of the rushing water fountains, I can never stop laughing at the comically exaggerated survivor barf sounds, I love the fact that I often get thrown in the Red Forest (which I adore) when playing against her, etc.
I welcome more Plague matches, as long as it's not 15 times in a row like it was a week or so back lol.

I first played Resident Evil in October of 1996. There were no voices and I was confused because the characters were gesturing as if there should be. There was sound and music, but no in-game voice. Got another copy of the game, same thing. Strangely it turned out to be my brand new Playstation. Can't explain that one at all.
Rented Resident Evil again, finally got to hear the voice acting. Thought about getting that first Playstation back.

This is a massive thread and I don't feel like reading it all, but I just wanted to add my two cents: My favorite game is one that lasts at least 7-10 minutes and has a good amount of back and forth, uncertainty over who's actually going to win. I don't care if I win or lose, I just want to know that I had enough time to accomplish something and gain some decent points.
The worst games are the ones that end within like 2-3 minutes as a killer because everyone was way too good at rushing gens, or as a survivor because the killer spawned close, made a beeline for you, then hooked and camped you. It's no fun for anybody to spend 3-4 minutes (or more) of everything that happens between matches only to get a game that lasts two minutes and yields barely enough BP to purchase a rusty toolbox.
-
I record all of my matches. I can't say that I've gotten nearly the amount of trash talking that you have, but I've gotten my share. And, as I've said elsewhere, for better or worse it's always been survivors. 100 percent. Never the killer, not even once. This is even as a survivor main.
I mainly keep the recordings to archive for friends who are interested, or to look back on especially fun matches, or to review and see if I can figure out how to improve things, etc. But I also catch hardcore rulebreaking this way, like survivors working with killers or games ending with someone magically "escaping" while they were in my hands being carried to a hook. It's a lot easier to report someone when you have undeniable evidence of them going out of their way to deliberately exploit the game and ruin other peoples' time.
-
I don't find Nurse to be nearly as frustrating as people make her out to be. I have more trouble with Hag.
With Nurse you just do a lot of listening, keep your distance, and if she comes near you just expect a blink and do a lot of side-stepping, ducking behind objects, etc. I don't claim to be a master at this game (I'm certainly not) but I actually enjoy Nurse matches, I don't quite understand what all the fuss is about.

I see both sides. Before I began playing this game I thought that survivor abilities would be more simple and practical, like "run x meters faster" or "take 1 extra hit before being injured", that kind of thing. I can see how it would be annoying for a killer to be going against a group of survivors who can have a total of 16 different mystical powers among them.
At the same time that's already how it is for the survivors' side. Playing against killers that have all kinds of magic abilities, plus any random combination of perks that give them other unknown abilities.
I don't know. I think that the system works more or less fine as it currently is, but as someone who's already getting wary of how much they keep tinkering with various aspects of the game, I can understand the frustration of someone who prefers how things used to be.

Most people loved 7. Most still loved the originals more though.
I still read and hear a lot of divisive opinions on RE7. I can understand why if I consider people's expectations of what the game (and RE in general) should be, but as a game, as an actual experience, I thought it was a near-masterpiece. It sucks whenever I hear someone say that it's "not Resident Evil" just because of a different camera view, when those same people worship at the altar of Resident Evil 4.
But yeah, there's no denying that Res 1 and 2 were brilliant. I can't speak for the rest up to 7, I kind of got burnt out near the beginning of 3. The remakes were amazing though.

Not much has changed about my survivor trials except an increase in entitled rank 10 players, and by "players" I mean "genuinely ignorant fellow survivors who will ######### and moan and BM you for not saving them while you're ######### injured and literally across the map and 2 other people are uninjured, clearly not both getting chased because it's physically impossible". Which is to be expected when you're sent back to green ranks. Also it happens way more than you'd think, that wasn't a specific scenario but an actual generalisation.
Killer is much worse. I have found that there is a very clear dividing line between red and purple ranks, but as a Plague main I can't pip up because I'm killing too fast. I also don't want to go back to the pain and sufferring of red ranks, so I'm trying to chill out a bit. Lot. Whatever.
"I didn't personally encounter you much during the game which means that you were obviously just hiding and doing nothing the whole time waiting for me to die so you could get the hatch". Ah yes. I love teammates like that.

Not having a great time. It didn't reset me at all and it's impossible to tell how I played relative to my opponents when a rank 14 might be a rank 14 and might be a rank 1.
More or less the same. I was reset to ranks that seem correct, but the competition varied wildly. I played about 8 games and wasn't having much fun so I just quit. I'll be trying again later today.
