  • Not interested in most of Leon or Jill's perks to be honest, but at the same time I guess I don't care much. I unlock or work up to my favorite perks and mix and match on the characters I like the most anyway. I'll be playing Jill and Leon with other character's better perks, not a biggie.

  • All I know is that I play "immersively" I guess - that is, I enjoy playing stealthy and trying to accomplish various objectives and challenges while avoiding the killer as much as possible - and a lot of killers, and even some fellow survivors, can't stand that. They assume that if they don't see you much during the game, you must be hiding and not contributing. I really don't want to get banned for playing the game properly but less aggressively.

I don't know if the developers will see any more of this thread since they've already posted in it but you guys really do need to be aware how incredibly petty many, many players are, how many of them have claimed to have reported people for the silliest of things. A more responsive ban and kudos system is GOOD - but please take your time, observe this community, lurk these forums, and make sure that you have a good understanding of how many people would like to abuse such a system if they were allowed to do so.

I trust you guys. But please be careful about this.

I've actually played Monstrum, it's pretty fun, especially with the different creatures and objectives. When I first played it (I think that might've been before dbd but I don't remember) I hid for so long because I couldn't tell where the monster was and it always sounded like it was nearby. And the alien thing always got me with the egg sacs everywhere

Yep, that's what I'm talking about. That game is all about stealth and evasion. Sure, there are chases. Lots and lots of chases. But rather than winning a chase by looping, you win a chase by running for dear life and finding a hiding spot, hoping like hell that the monster didn't see you slip into cover. That game is all about that special rush you get from hiding and seeing something you have absolutely no defense against pass you by and not catch you, and the almost unbearable tension you get when you know that sooner or later you're gonna have to leave cover and completely expose yourself to make any progress, knowing that the monster can come back around the corner at any time.

One monster can only be identified by its loud footsteps. One monster can only be identified by the existence of scattered egg sacs. And one monster can only be identified by the lights going out. And all of these "tells" can happen from several hundred feet away, in different rooms, or even different floors. You don't know which one you're going to face each time you play, and the game's randomized map, room, and item layout mean that you also don't know where you - or it - are in the maze. So you have to tread extremely carefully, look, listen, pay close attention to your surroundings, and try to pick the best times to run, and the best times to hide.

THAT is the kind of game I thought DBD would be, and I like making it as close to that experience as I possibly can. Playing tag around crates and walls? Yeah, nah.

  • (Edited, please ignore)

  • Hiding in this game is called being "immersive"? Is that actually a thing? What's immersive about it? I ask legitimately. I didn't know that what appears to be my preferred playstyle had a name that I myself wouldn't have used to describe it.

Anyway I only hide when I feel that the killer may be near because I find that safer and more exciting than just running around. I can't stand looping, don't care about looping, am not interested in the looping aspect of this game whatsoever. Not one bit. I do it because I have to, but SO MUCH of this game (or at least its players) is looping-heavy that I honestly wonder if I'll ever be truly great at it. It's hard to state just how little I care for the idea.

Not trying to be an ass, I know that a lot of other people love looping and that's fine. It's just not my thing. The sneaking, stealth, hide and seek, cat and mouse is what I enjoy far, FAR more. I've often said that I went into this game thinking that it was basically a multiplayer version of Monstrum (an excellent game, you should all give it a look). That game is all about the killer being able to wipe you out, no defense whatsoever, so it's all about trying not to get caught. That's what I enjoy. That's what I like making my DBD matches into, at least as much as I can. Now that doesn't mean just sitting in lockers or cowering in the corner letting all my teammates die, but I definitely enjoy the thrill of trying to not get caught. I remember one of my first games in Midwich was against The Nurse. I didn't know her too well. I sensed that she was coming hear so I hid in a locker. Within a few seconds she just went floating past. In another match, before I'd even seen him thus could actually identify who he was, I heard the Oni go into his rage. It startled the hell out of me and I had no idea what would happen next so again, I hopped into a locker. And again, after a few seconds this giant beast comes storming past me. THAT stuff is great. The creepiness of knowing that you just evaded this horrific monster without it knowing that you were there brings a real sense of satisfaction, relief, and, yes, terror when you dare step foot back outside and try to get some distance. That, to me, is far more exciting than tile tag.

I don't know if that's immersion or what. I just call it playing stealthy. And I just do it because that's a funner type of game to me.

    @trashgirl said:

I don’t do it for immersion. I do it because I suck at looping and stealth play while also helping my team is the best way for me to make it out alive. Hiding in lockers the whole game does seem boring though, but there is some type of thrill in seeing the killer walk right past you and not being able to find you so there’s that.

    @Jacoby2041 said:

I think people like the hide and seek aspect of it; not knowing whether you'll be found or the killer will pass you by unnoticed. For me personally I get a big thrill from being right under the killer's nose without them knowing, narrowly avoiding being caught, or that oh ######### moment when you realize they did find you and now you're scrambling to get away

That being said, I definitely don't like those people who seem to think lockers are the main objective and generators are just there to distract the killer

I like to play the game as it was advertised in the trailers and spotlights, a survival horror multiplayer game

not a competitive fast paced looping ticking time bomb game

i enjoy the roleplaying, it's my favorite part of dbd.

    TL;DR:

This, so much this. These posts match my feelings exactly.

To those who don't like people who are, I guess, "immersive", you have to understand - there's a difference between a survivor just running and hiding and not being productive all game (players who, trust me, even fellow survivors don't like) and playing conservatively, trying to get stuff done while remaining unseen. There's a special skill and care and strategy to playing this way - it's more challenging, less rewarding in terms of BP, but for those of us who do it it's just simply more FUN.

  • I'd like to say that whatever system they come out with next probably can't be any worse, but then I didn't play the MMR test which, to my recollection, a LOT of people didn't like. Their complaints didn't sound any different though: Matched against people of seemingly random or way too different skill.

All most players want is to play with people who are roughly equivalent, I'm sure that the developers could figure out an algorithm that knows what stats determine such things. Hope so, at least.

I be getting too many Blights on Coldwind. I've been getting Demo on Springwood like a lot. 🤔

I haven't seen Blight in a loooong time. Throw him in there with Oni and Twins as characters I never see. The couple of times I remember facing him at all recently were on Haddonfield and Springwood (can't remember the name of the Elm Street maps, they should have just called them Elm Street). I do see Demo though, I see him everywhere. All the time. Too much.

They're pretty much right though (although you exaggerated it a bit too much), there's really no valid counterargument to it at this point (other than all-seeing and silent bell being busted af, and Sloppy Butcher being a poorly designed perk). Once you get better at surv you'll see how mediocre Wraith is compared to others, and even consider him to be the poor man's Spirit.

I guess this is just an agree to disagree type of situation. I've noticed that whenever either side makes a complaint the other side often lashes out, and I've noticed that killer mains are extremely protective of the killers they consider "good" and extremely disgusted by the killers they consider "bad". What I know for myself is that, anecdotally, Wraith seemed fine. I saw plenty of people using him. I saw no one complaining about him. Then he gets a buff and suddenly the story is "everyone hated him because he was terrible, now he's only just passable, survivors whine too much. Get better".

Shrug. Not everyone plays the game to do endless loops, and not everyone looks at things in such a binary fashion. But it seems that when anyone discusses the Wraith, that's the end result. Survivor brings up points that are, at worst, at least worthy of discussion, survivor is ridiculed as being a horrific jerk who wants to steal away the only thing that has supposedly made an awful character in any way playable. It's tired.

Thought I was the only one. I get sent to Red Forest a lot whenever I get Plague too

I've wondered about this. I get Leatherface CONSTANTLY on Coldwind now. Close to the point of exclusively. I'm getting the Red Forest VERY often with The Plague. But then I never get Freddy in Springwood, never get Pyramid Head in Midwich, never get The Pig in The Game, etc.

  • I was commenting on this weeks ago before I saw anyone else saying anything about him and was consistently shot down with complaints and the general counterargument that "he was absolutely terrible, the worst character in the game, absolutely useless", etc, etc, etc.

Now pretty much every day there's a post about how they overcompensated and made him a bit TOO strong but every killer main's argument has changed to "he's only just now become even BARELY decent, he still sucks, he's still M1, he's still easily avoidable, he's still the worst character in the game, he's a stealth character so he's meant to get free hits, you just need to get better, just ensure that there's always a window or pallet next to you and you automatically win, there's nothing wrong with his buff at all because now he's actually capable of getting a kill once every 500 games, survivors complain about everything", on and on and on.

The hyperbole I hear from the killer side regarding The Wraith isn't even worth arguing with anymore.

I've been saying for a while everyone only listens to youtubers. Like last month most people rated him C maybe B tier and now since one popular youtuber said hes S tier everyones following right after lol can you guys please form your own opinions.

As soon as I saw this topic I thought "let me guess, a Youtuber said that Blight is S tier".

    What do you know.

  • Plague is high up there. I love the sound of the water fountains, I love that the game tends to throw me into the Red Forest a lot when I face her, I always laugh at the comical barfing sounds, and I just think that she's overall a cool killer. Additionally, like Huntress and Myers and Nurse and Doctor and a couple of others, if I lose the match against her I rarely feel like I lost unfairly.

I love to face Oni simply because I think he makes for a fearsome opponent and I never, EVER see anyone pick the guy.

  • I played Midwich as a killer for the first time a few days ago. DAMN is that a tough ######### killer map. It gives me new respect for all the killers who were good on it. There are a lot of them though, which leads me to believe that maybe the map isn't as bad as a lot of people say.

Aesthetically and design-wise, I love it. I'm one of the people who doesn't want it to be changed. It's a fun map to me. There aren't just long corridors, there are also plenty of side rooms and multiple floors. The map is unique. I'm a Silent Hill mark so I love it for that reason too.

What's the main problem that people have with it?

  • Survivors will complain about killers, killers will complain about survivors, everyone will complain about SWF, there will be a dozen threads requesting buffs or nerfs, and the developers will be scolded for everything.

  • I'm excited, but I also have an optometrist appointment. XD

I'm hoping to see Jill, if she's not there (and if the killer is Lady Breasts) I'll probably not care much about the DLC. I'm also concerned about the comments about "new ways to escape" or whatever they were saying.

I guess in general I'm excited but reserved. A 5th anniversary is a big deal, and this is the first one I'll be here to attend. But the game's already been changing kind of a lot in the mere few months that I've been playing it, so I'm probably just as concerned if anything.

That would make her incredibly weak and would require significant buffs in other areas to compensate. Hag’s entire game-flow is designed around how her traps are currently implemented. 5 traps would make her power far too inconsistent, and a cool down / limit on trap usage would render her too slow with no tangible pressure.

Yeah, she wouldn't need both, I'd be happier with one or the other, but I see what you mean.

I don't want to strip any killers of their abilities, that's not the kind of survivor player I am. I just think that she's improperly balanced and, like the Spirit, requires too much guesswork and vulnerability to play what feels like a fair game against, most of the time.

Exactly I get way faster matches in the morning then I do in the evening and in the evening I often have to wait upwards up to 20 minutes at best just to find a match so this guy is having a mental breakdown literally over nothing it's so hilarious

Yeah I mean I may not like it (which I don't because I'm a night person, lol) but I can get into a survivor game in fifteen seconds during the morning. Stays that way until mid afternoon, in fact. Just a little slower.

Night is when things really slow down substantially. For me it's around 8-10 pm, thereabouts. From that point forward I might as well forget about survivor matches altogether. But that's alright, that's when I do my killer practicing. And usually let everyone go because I'm such a jerk survivor main.

A girl from my class back in high school did that exact thing in the London marathon. She got caught and bc her brother was vaguely famous it ended up in the national news

Seriously? On one hand I'm surprised because I thought that this was a pretty extreme example. On the other hand I'm not, because being perceived as a "winner" is just THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN LIFE for some people.

  • I'm just going to try to remain neutral here and say that histrionic posts don't get taken very seriously.

  • I absolutely adore the map, aesthetically and size-wise it's my favorite. I'm a survivor main and have to admit that I've probably had as many losses as escapes on the map. It seems really balanced to me, but I'm a relatively new player and I also understand the pallet complaint. If they removed or adjusted some I'd still love the map.

Wasting your time. Survivors have never and will never care about fairness. They just want easy games, easy wins and a clown with a rubber knife to entertain them and be their punching bag. Don't try to use logic with them.

Don't speak for all of us, please.

  • So many people complain about gen speeds. I'm sorry but when you're a solo survivor sitting there for a minute and a half while your teammates are goofing around with all the looping crap is quite long enough. And if the killer finds you - which, given that you're sitting in one place making noise for 80 seconds is likely - you either abandon and / or lose all progress on that generator. Which, by the way, gives less points that the people who like to just run around playing tag with the killer.

I've played games where I was the only person doing generators, ie the only person making actual progress in the match. That's a combined six minutes of doing basically nothing in a game where the average match length is ten minutes or less. And, again, the others get more points because they're the ones dong the loop / hook / heal cycle. Needless to say I don't do this regularly, nor would a good killer let me.

So yeah, maybe in SWF gens go too fast, but it's tiresome to hear how much SLOWER they need to be just so the killer can get more kills. The killers win the game plenty. I've had countless, COUNTLESS games where at least 2-3 generators were left, and quite a few where none got done at all, so I guess the gen speed isn't as ridiculous as it could be.

  • Survivor queue times are slower the later the day goes on and it has nothing to do with how easy or difficult their games are.

For hexes they are more getting at that they should all be:

"Ignore at your own peril." (Ruin) or "Do bones or die" (Devour Hope/NOED)

Style of perks which only ruin and devour hope(And NOED in a round about way) currently are.

Hexes NEED to be stronger then normal perks because unlike normal perks they can be destroyed which is a massive inherent downside.

More powerful, sure, but to me the term "OP" implies massively imbalanced. I just don't want that.

It's not. It just seems like it because her weapon model is smaller. It's the same problem that Freddy, Hag and Legion have.

This. I don't like it (I know I'm opening a can of worms here but I'd like it if killers had different weapon stats) but I've learned to deal with it. It still causes quite the eyeroll when she hits me sideways as I'm already almost all the way around a corner though.

  • I don't want anything in the game can legitimately be described as "overpowered". That goes for both sides.

  • In B4 someone says to just get rid of hatches. :P

I feel the really iconic parts of re are the playable characters. Which is why i think they will be the new survivors. I really don't see how to make Ethan a survivor since (at least in 7) we dont know what he looks like.

I strongly suspect 2 killers. I just feel like Capcom wants to promote the new age of resident evil.

I agree with you and the others that having two killers (and two survivors also) would be a great way to celebrate both RE's anniversary, DBD's anniversary, and also satisfy both camps. I played the first few REs but then dropped out until 7, which I ######### adore (though, while it pains me to say it, I don't really see Ethan OR Jack fitting into the game very well). Meanwhile there are newer fans who only came around with 4, or perhaps even 7, and most of the older characters will be lost on them.

I know this isn't a thread asking for who we want but just to wrap up I personally would like Jill and Chris and Nemesis and Mr. X. Though Leon and Claire are almost as iconic, if not just as much so, as Jill and Chris are. It's hard to narrow it down to just a couple of characters when several of them are so integral to the series and have been for so many years.

That is...That is mistifying. I've only found and closed the hatch as the killer a couple of times now, so I just assumed that this was how it was supposed to be. So what normally happens when the killer closes the hatch? Nothing? The match just continues as normal? The exit gates don't open?

It's not about winning in the game, it's about winning in general. Some people's egos are so fragile or they have been taught winning is everything. Some people are too competitive for whatever reason, they can't handle losing and will take any shortcut they can. Everyone is damaged in some way, some are just more noticeable than others.

    It's just...sad.

It's like someone entering a marathon around the city or something and secretly driving to a block away from the finish line. I would ask "In what way do you seriously derive anything resembling a sense of accomplishment for not using your skills or abilities to actually accomplish anything"?

I mean in this game it's even worse since wins don't mean anything. There is no scoreboard, there is no ticker tape parade. You're just...well, cheating yourself to first place for no real benefit other than the same cycle of gameplay that the people who don't win also get. The guy might as well design a program where he presses a button and the match just ends with him "winning". I mean if the goal of winning is SO important to someone's fragile little ego that they aren't even going to play the game properly, why play at all? In fact, why not just print himself a Tshirt that says "officially recognized number 1 worldwide DBD player" and save himself hours and hours of time?

  • My only beef with the breast vampire is that that's the only reason that anyone seems to care about her or want her in the game. She's the face of RE8 for obvious, shallow reasons so that's why I believe there's a lot of resentment about the idea of her being used in place of genuine characters that longterm fans have gotten to know and love over the last two decades.

  • I loves me Meg but what about her perks make her the best? I hear people say that Dead Hard is better than her spring (EDIT: "Sprint") and no one seems to say anything either way about her other two perks. I just give her perks from other characters and play as her for the pretty face and cute outfits. If anything I'd put Dwight and Bill at the top. Just my opinion though.

Completely agree with the bottom tier. I've seen that Quentin creep in like 1 game out of a thousand.

That's weird O.o Also, I feel like killer should be able to open the gates after closing the hatch if they want the survivor to survive.

This doesn't happen to you? Does it happen to any of you other guys?

I first noticed it when my friend and I played a 1 v 1 match to each try out a killer. I found the hatch and closed it and BOOM, instantaneously the doors opened. I was like "Oh. Didn't mean for THAT to happen", lol.

Then, sure enough, in a couple of regular games I was the last survivor and looking for the hatch. The icon was on my screen. Then, as soon as the icon disappeared, there was the familiar bell and suddenly the endgame collapse was happening. I had to switch gears and hightail it to the exit right then and there.

If this is abnormal I wonder if some other variable was in play that I don't know about. I much prefer the idea that if the killer closes the hatch, the survivor still has to be elusive and make his or her way out. Closing the hatch, in my games anyway, has basically been a "get out of jail free" card. It didn't make sense which is why I remember it.

  • I don't think that she should be able to have TEN portals all over the damn map at any one time. That's enough to block every generator plus some hooks, pallets, windows, whatever. It's a bit much. The fact that they're all but invisible doesn't help either.

I'd say give her five portals, or if people complain that she MUST have ten then have some kind of limit as to how frequently she can use them. Unless there already is some kind of cooldown on them, which I've seen no evidence of (I haven't played as the Hag yet, she seems to tricky. Yes, I am agreeing that she takes skill to use. I don't knock those who are good with her. She's just super cheap).

  • I'm a survivor main and I've always defended camping and tunneling. Is it cheap? Yes. Is it ######### annoying to be tunneled and a complete waste of my ######### time to be camped? Yes. But the killer has a right to do it, just as my teammates have a right to counter it.

  • @AVoiceOfReason said:

Grabs should still be a thing if they're injured. It isn't really about WHO finds the hatch first. It's mainly if you can down them while they stand on the hatch and then move them before they jump in or crawl in. Hatch stand-offs was never fun for me. I remember on PS4, I had a hatch stand-off for over 20 minutes. No joke. I ended up grabbing the person but jesus, never again will I wait that long XD

(Edit: But to play devils' advocate, if you're the last survivor and the killer DOES close the hatch, the doors should be able to be opened in 10 seconds instead of 20 for fairness.)

Hmm, in my games when I'm the last survivor and the killer closes the hatch the exit doors open immediately.

  • I think that RE7 is one of the greatest games ever made but it's hardly iconic, and the new game is...well, not only new, but from the story I spoiled myself on, stupid as well.

We'll be getting Jill and Chris, Leon and Claire, or some combination thereof. There's no way to celebrate RE's 25th anniversary without including at least one of those characters. Preferably Jill or Chris, since they were there from the start. The killer could be anyone from any of the entries I guess, it really doesn't matter as much. Many of the RE killers are pretty similar with the exception of Boobs McGee.

  • Bodyblocking shouldn't be a thing, in my opinion. Either the person makes it to the hatch and escapes, or you get there first and attack the survivor. The idea that you can stop a survivor from winning the match by finding the hatch and just sitting there on it seems cheap to me.

Then again if the survivor can see that that's what you're doing, I don't know why they couldn't just go the other way and exit through a gate.

  • I don't like breakable walls as survivor OR killer to be honest. I don't despise them or anything, they just seemed like an unnecessary addition to me.

  • I thought you might have assumed that I was responding to you. Sorry about that, I was actually referring to the OP.

What matters is that I'm trying to grind BP, and some dolt gets to leave the game and actually rob me of over 10k (post-BBQ) BP. Not to mention, I lose out on the +25% from hooking him, if he leaves before then.

    It's total nonsense. Objectively.

It IS nonsense, I agree, I just didn't understand why a technical "win" was so important. If you're straight-up trying to grind XP then yes, I understand your frustration.

I sort of agree with some of your points, it can be a bit much, especially now that you can run all-seeing, silent bell AND be 150% speed with a fast lunge. It's a little ridiculous but I personally don't mind. I play a lot of Wraith so I'm not really bothered by it. I could see how it feels a little BS to play against but I think basically every killer has something like that. Even Demo got a really nasty add-on/perk combo this patch. After his lunge speed bug got fixed after the speed buff it kinda took away the one weakness he had aside from being in a good area of the map, something which is entirely reliant on map RNG and we all know how terrible it can be.

I appreciate it. I'm not saying that Wraith should be severely nerfed or anything, I just join threads like this to help explain what the problem is. After getting a bunch of dismissive comments when I first started talking about this a few weeks ago, simple acknowledgement of what I'm trying to point out is enough for me.

  • No offense, but...does it actually matter?

Tbh if you're getting windstorm lunged like that, chances are you were gonna get hit anyway, the lunge just sped up the process by a few seconds. The only time the lunge is useful in a chase is around a short loop, you should be able to make it to a pallet or a good window before he gets a chance to lunge. But you play against Wraith the same way you've been playing against him for the last 2 years, only now he has another add-on slot which was enough to make people realise he's actually good so he's a popular killer now.

Part of the problem for me is that I found him good before. Balanced and equitable. The people who say that he isn't good seem to base it on his looping and nothing else (I'm not saying you, just what I generally see). But when you think about it, we're talking about a killer who is not only invisible, but MUCH faster while invisible, who now is even harder to see, but can now also turn visible at a moment's notice with no tell or indication of any kind (unless you get lucky to get a Wraith that comes at you head on thus allowing you to see his blur) AND quickly hit you before you can react.

And I just haven't ever understood the arguments for counterplay. "Be by a window". What, the whole game? "Predrop all the pallets". A Wraith isn't going to see you doing that or simply find an alternate path around them? "Run this perk and that perk". Specifically build a character to counter just ONE killer?

I understand, I'm not nearly as practiced in this game as most of you. I readily admit that. I readily admit that a lot of this is me not having enough practice. But I mean, a superfast invivisble killer that has a very obvious tell (which also slows him down long enough to have a chance to get away) is one thing. There's balance there. That's why everyone hates the Spirit right? Her tells are too difficult, the game is just guesswork. That's what everyone says. Well, I mean, when you're facing an invisible, superfast, silent killer who can come up and nail you out of nowhere for a free hit (and I automatically dismiss any argument that says "he's a stealth killer, he's supposed to get free hits"), that's a whole different, much more frustrating game altogether. I'm legit sorry for anyone who thought that he was crap before, I never did. But it seems as if the people who do are now being defensive that he's no longer crap, without allowing for the possibility that maybe his combined powers are now a little TOO much.

    That's all I'm saying.

People really be out here trying to snatche wins even if it makes their game look like dirty toilet water.

Honestly. Winning doesn't get you anything in this game other than bloodpoints, the same thing you get by doing ANYTHING in this game. There is no explicit point to winning. You don't gain special abilities, you don't get special awards, you simply get more bloodpoints than if you hadn't won (and sometimes less than if you'd lost). So what's the purpose of winning? Bloodpoints. What do bloodpoints do? Advance your characters. What's the point of advancing your characters? To play more games and earn more bloodpoints.

So, basically, this person is gimping his own game just so he can have an easier time gaining bloodpoints, which do nothing but ENCOURAGE YOU TO KEEP PLAYING THE GAME. He's so consumed with winning that he's deliberately made his game look like #########, despite the fact that winning isn't going to change anything in his game.

I mean seriously, unless this jackass is getting some kind of special out of game privileges and attention for this (besides this mockery that he rightfully deserves), he is doing something that literally has zero purpose. He is ruining his game so he can...play more of it.

Oh no you have to pay attention, he still has shimmer but sure you cant see it from the other side of a map. Trust me if you attentive and prepared you can still easily make it to a pallet before he can get a "cheap" hit on you, can a wraith do things to mitigate that yes but so can you.

I may agree with you if I had more practice, but it's genuinely difficult getting any in with the Wraith being as good as he is now.

This just sounds like both a match making problem and you getting to face people who actually play wraith as his playstyle never changed for people who actually mained him.

Cloaking Hit and run was always a thing same goes for Cloaking Chases.

Ultimately nothing has changed about wraith other then you going against good/great wraiths that are above your skill which the match making threw you to die from.

All I know is that until a few weeks ago he always used the bell and I never felt like I had to just hand him a free hit for every uncloack. After the last patch (or perhaps the one before, I can't keep track of some of the adjustments they've made) it's been like that almost every time: No bell, unavoidable hits. Granted, you are correct that the matchmaking has only made it worse.

  • I just realized that people are giving this buffoon money too. What a ######### world.

    This looks absolutely terrible

Yeah but who cares about enjoyment when there's a win to be had!

Wraith is just more consistant then before but old wraith with a single windstorm add-on is ironically more powerful then the current one.

As windstorm never actually had a penalty(The penalty value on all tiers was Zero) making prechange wraith the stronger version as he moved faster while uncloaking.

I can't speak much for the specifics of pre-buff Wraith with perks, I wasn't that familiar with him before. Subjectively I just know that I enjoyed playing against him because I didn't mind the challenge and found him to be one of the cooler, more balanced killers. It's only now after he's gotten stronger, can go without using the bell (his one reliable tell), is guaranteed a hit as long as he uncloaks within like ten feet of you, etc., that I find him incredibly cheap and frustrating to play against. Most of the players follow the same pattern now as well, which is cloak, find, uncloak, hit, repeat. There's not much gameplay, it's just guessing and hoping for the best.

Yesterday night I played a game against him (granted he was red rank thanks to the matchmaking bug, but still): It was down to myself and two other survivors on Crotus Prenn. He slugged one and as I tried to make my way around the structure for the save he hooked another. My perks showed that he then spent the next 30 seconds or so walking back and forth between them. The hooked one died so he went over to hang out by the slugged one. I knew that I was screwed so I walked back in the other direction. I ran across a hex totem and broke it. Just in that time he'd managed to appear out of nowhere and clobber me to the dying state. I had no warning. No sound, no bell, no blur, no anything. He was camping when his aura disappeared, so I assumed (my mistake I guess) that he was waiting for me to take the bait. I didn't, and before I even knew what was happening I was now on the ground. Short of hiding like a ######### or spinning my camera in a mad 360 to try to catch his blur on a dark map (and if I saw his blur he would have been too close anyway) I don't know what I could have done to avoid that scenario. Maybe if he used his bell I at least would have had warning, same with if I'd had all of three seconds to catch him uncloaking. Nope, just one second he's on the other side of a large structure baiting a slug, and the next second I'm slugged too. That's not playing, that's just creeping around, hoping for the best.
