To be completely fair if the Trapper can do it the Hag should be able to as well, and I HATE the Hag.
That said, since I HATE the Hag, I will use this chance to say again that something about her should be dialed back a bit. Less traps, less of a trap radius, more distance between the traps and the items that survivors have to interact with, some cooldown on her teleport, SOMETHING.
-
AWESOME.
...AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!
Jonathan looks fair. Not bad, not great, but fair. I can tell who it's supposed to be and that's what counts. This is super cool.
Justice for Barb though.

I love the first three (yes, I said three) Alien films with a furious passion. I am proud to have my terrified Hudson NECA figure standing proudly next to the brown xeno figure that was released within the last year or so. Ask me which of the three (yep, three) films I like most and the answer will depend on the day of the week.
Can I imagine a Nostromo map with Ripley, Dallas and Parker running around corridors and vents fleeing from the creature? Oh, HELL yes.
I can't say that I want it definitively though. As much as I love these movies, I have to be objective and admit that I can't see anything that I just described fitting very well with the rest of the game. Nea, Dwight, Ash and Jane on the Nostromo against Leatherface? Huh? Ripley in Midwich? The xenomorph in Haddonfield?
-
I love to play stealthy, sneakily (I just enjoy it, it's what makes this game and others such as Monstrum the most tense, exciting and fun for me) which I've seen others describe as playing in an "immersive" way. I've been criticized after the game for this, NEVER by the killer but a few times by salty teammates who, I guess, decided that because they didn't see me I must have just been hiding throughout the course of the entire game. My score said otherwise, but whatever.
On the other hand, I myself have been the victim of teammates who did, literally, spend the ENTIRE match just hanging way out in the corner and creeping around behind walls, rocks, trees, and in bushes. Just sitting there doing nothing but moving enough to avoid the crows, and then voyaging just enough to find the hatch and then camp THAT. Wait for teammates to die, get the hatch, winner winner chicken dinner. I use aura perks and have seen other players do this multiple times. It's ######### disgusting.
I made a thread about it yesterday. I posited that something should be implemented, like a point check or an action check or something that the game can run at hatch time to determine whether the player has actually done ANYTHING. I mean I and another player kept the killer at bay for five minutes with ONE gen left to go because we assumed that the other player was going for it. Nope, they were just patiently waiting for us to lose. Not only should that not be rewarded, it should be punished.

And I haven't seen requests to nerf this guy...why?

I've seen him down 3 survivors in one go.
That's ridiculous. I don't know how I've never seen it before in a good couple thousand matches but I just never have. I was sitting here the whole time thinking that, out of fairness, killers couldn't insta-down more than 1 healthy survivor in a single swing. Guess I was wrong.
Lame.

I solo queue all the time and I have to admit that this is only a minor, minor part of the experience. The SWF teams I've been able to recognize as such try to save me 9 times out of 10. That said, I've had my share of fellow players who complain about the way I play after the match (not aggressive enough) and met my share of cowards who just hide in a corner hatch camping the whole game.
Still, being completely on your own when others are coordinated does suck.
-
Had a total of five matches so far today. Got a Leatherface and, to my immense shock, he camped.
...I tried to take a window when he played us by leaving for twenty seconds to proxy and as soon as I got the hooked survivor down he rushed over and chainsawed both of us in one swing, both down immediately. I didn't even know you could down two survivors with one attack, I've never seen it in my 300 hours of playing this game so far, yet here we are.

If someone says gg to me I always take it as get gud.
I initially did as well, that's all I ever knew that acronym to mean. Then someone in the communicty corrected me, and since that time I've traded many "gg"s with people. This was reinforced when I saw "ggwp" and asked a buddy what that means, to which he responded "good game, well played".

Just do a gen?
This is what I do upon the rare occurrence of a killer camping Hatch.
Usually popping just one gen is enough to frighten them into closing the Hatch, and getting the game moving again.
Well we were down to just one and Michael had us literally trapped in a corner, he'd go after one of us and then the other whenever one of us got some distance or did an unhook. I mean you're correct, we could have gotten out of there and ran around looking for the last gen, but it was a situation where I (and I can only assume the other good player) figured "there's still that third person off running around, all we have to do is keep the killer busy for a couple of minutes and the exit games will open. They're taking care of it".
That's what's such bullshit about this kind of behavior - when you play as a team, you expect the other people to have your back. I understand that looking out for yourself is a way that someone can choose to play the game, but there's a difference between looking out for yourself and literally just hiding and doing absolutely nothing.
-
I HAVE had a couple of incorrect pallet drops where, as described, I wound up on the wrong side and the killer promptly hacked me for being dumb. While I'd like to attribute it to the game I think that, at least in my case, it was simple miscalculation in the heat of the moment.

It's insane on any killer that doesn't use their power for all hits. Or Nurse, where her power counts for it.
Finding a good combination of perks for killers must be tough. With so many unique powers and then so many unique perks that are often meant specifically to complement those powers, it must be a lot of trial and error to produce the best killing machine.
I didn't even know, for example, that people could play all kinds of versions of Michael Myers that apparently do totally different things. I like the flexibility of this game quite a bit, even if it is overwhelming for newcomers.
-
Maybe the mental trauma that the Nurse suffered (and inflicted) manifested itself physically so that players see her as a deformed spectre?
Just throwing possible interpretations out there.
-
Yeah I don't play killer much but Sloppy Butcher, as you implied, actually looks like one of the better perks.

I wonder if "Voldemort" is censored. If not, the people who made the filter really misunderstood the books.
-
Nemesis is all torso. Mr. X is a giant rectangle.
That said, Cheryl looks nothing like Lisa Garland, they're two totally different models (and two totally different characters). They don't have physical mutations or anything, which obviously makes this a different case than Nemesis and X.
-
I mentioned elsewhere that I wish we could skip some (or all) of the items we don't want or need in the bloodweb. I'm so tired of going to exhaust all the stuff that I've stored up by level 50 so I can prestige without wasting it only to see that I have 20 maps, keys, and flashlights that I'll never use. Hundreds of thousands of bloodpoints wasted.
Wouldn't mind a little better randomization of the perks either, I really don't need "Deja Vu", "Premonition" and "Sloppy Butcher" being offered to me every single time when I know damn well I've unlocked like 15 other perks that I'd like to use (and never show up).
EDIT: That said, I'll say the same thing I did a few days ago: A new player shouldn't be looking at this game as a rush to hurry up and grind for the greatest perks, they should take their time learning and enjoying the game. I mean if they want to rush that's their prerogative, but by doing so they're basically just ignoring the fun part so they can try to cram in years' worth of content as fast as possible. That seems like a backwards way to play this game, I don't know.

No excuse for her to not finish that last gen. Left behind challenge isn't even an excuse.. she could have just gone right back to hiding once gen popped. Sounds like a wuss.
Yeah that's the first one that really put me in a bad mood. I didn't notice until halfway through about a 12 minute match that I'd only seen two other people at the same time. When it was down to the other survivor and I being alternately downed, hooked, and rescued by each other, it really did go on for at least 4-5 minutes. Plenty long enough for the person on the other end of the map, who Michael had apparently completely forgotten about or never saw himself, to do the one remaining generator we had left. It was a good back and forth game, and we had a chance. Just one generator. I'm running around, the other player is running around, we're trying to help each other and no doubt wondering what's taking so long, then finally we're both downed and each hooked. As I die first I immediately go to spectate and the idiot is literally just slowly crouching back and forth between various trees and rocks in a ten foot radius until boom, the hatch opens and out she goes.
I don't usually leave rude messages after my matches but this time I couldn't help it. I told them that all they needed to do was ONE generator and we all could have escaped, and that they were a coward and thank you for throwing the game for everyone else.
@AVoiceOfReason said:
If the killer stands on the hatch, slightly towards the front, not only can you not jump in, the killer can still close it. A survivor camping the hatch won't do much if the killer knows where to stand.
While I do find that interesting, in this case the survivor was camping the hatch the whole trial, the killer apparently never saw it or was too far away in both instances to catch up. So if the killer is nearby when it opens, THAT would be cool, I would have loved to see that, but nah, they were just hiding all match and then camping the area when they found the hatch.

I have issues when facing new survivors with them hiding, but it is rare I get newer survivors. There are also a plethora of perks that help you track, such as whispers, without hooks or gens being completed. Also be observant, survivors make noise, even moving in the grass ... map knowledge and game sense will help you. I agree it sucks. but its not that big of a deal compared to many other things and it doesnt happen much with experienced players.
The Cheryl who screwed the other player and I by not doing one gen was prestiged. That made me even more pissed off. A seasoned player should know better. Or have more integrity.

As a killer, I see survivors hatch camping pretty frequently when it gets down to 2 and sometimes even 3 if it seems they can’t finish gens. Sad to see someone die on their first hook while their teammate hides in a locker.
I never liked it before when I'd only get it from time to time. It was still insulting - the worst example was when I was on a hook and the other remaining survivor was literally on the floor directly below me, I saw her aura come out of the locker and just strafe back and forth in place until I died - but now that I've gotten it twice in a row I realize just how incredibly cheap it is. Especially the Cheryl that let two teammates (half the crew) be toyed with by Michael for five minutes as she rested comfortably on the other end of the map, knowing full well she could have done ONE generator, the only one we needed, and likely saved us all. Nope, too much work, too much risk. Better to just let everyone else lose and take the win for yourself.
Again, I don't see why there isn't some check that the game does which says "okay, this person has only earned 300 points in this entire match, likely from the "boldness" of hiding behind a different tree when the killer ran by. They've obviously done nothing all game. Not one save, not one heal, not one chase, not one gen, hell - not even one encounter with ANY of the other survivors. No hatch. Seems fair to me.
@HaunterofShadows said:
I only look for the hatch when I know were going to die.
That I can understand. If I'm one of two people left, and I see that the other person is being chased and is up to their third hooking, I start looking for the hatch. That's just smart. And if I only start looking at that point (which is the only time I do, sometimes not even then) then it shows that I, or whomever else is in the situation, participated until that point. Actually tried to help the other survivors instead of sabotaging them by decreasing their number out of selfish cowardice.

But the thing is they weren't that good like Mike said you lost to math and luck he has 60 knives and only needs 8-16 he still has 40+knives to throw to you and they try to make up for that with random recoil and being 110 all of those are are not needed he dosent need random recoil and 60 knives 40 is plenty if the player dosent have to combat the game mechanic
That's just it. If Tricker is anywhere within viewing distance of you here come the knives, and you have to drop everything and run around like a madman trying to evade roughly 50 damn projectiles for 30 straight seconds. That's a bit much. I don't care how good you are, you're not going to avoid them all and you only need a small amount to start being affected. Huntress only has half a dozen, Deathslinger only has one, and they both need to aim. Trickster? Hold a button and just watch a rain of weapons go flying at the opponent. You have 5 dozen times to hit them in one volley, and only one of those dozen needs to connect. It's like being downed from someone running up behind you and jabbing you in the back with their finger over and over.

The totem breaking sound IS satisfying. Nice crunchy, crumbly bone sound.
I love the pleasant running water of the Plague's fountains, that's probably my favorite sound effect in the game. Meg's hilarious barfing noise as a result of the Plague's purge also makes me laugh almost every single time. It's so silly. MmmMMMBLEEUGGH!!!
Actually I love Meg's voice actress altogether. When she's groaning on the hook it sometimes sounds as if she says "N'guh" which is a very amusing noise to make when you're suffering.
-
He annoys me. Oh boy, here he comes. Left, right, left, right, left, right, find an obstacle, run around it, left, right, left, right, how many thousands of knives does this guy have again? Left, right, left right. It's like running through a swarm of mosquitoes. It's a stupid and irritating power. And if you lose to it, you didn't lose to skill, you lost to the simple math of managing to get hit 8 out of like 60 times. I'm not going to continue to complain about everything else I dislike about him, I've done that enough.
He's apparently lame to play as as well, and in fact today's the first time I've seen him in weeks. That said, for as much as people say that he isn't any good, I've seen plenty of people (including red ranks) lose to him, so I don't know about him being as ineffective as people say. Just lame and annoying.

Yeah I'd say ragequit. If they're playing the game as normal but only DC right when they're about to lose, it's a ragequit. They'd rather have the DC penalty AND no points for anything they did than suffer the loss, I guess.
Speaking of disconnects it would be great if BHVR could look into them, I get several per session that are server-side ("unknown error", etc).

As bad as hatch is - it solves a bigger problem. Without the hatch the last two survivors would likely do nothing and just hide for the rest of the match...
Sigh. That's sadly a good point.
Honestly, I try so hard not to take sides in this game. I REALLY do. I hate how much negativity there is in this community. I always try to say "GG" (and to be fair that was the case with at least half a dozen matches in the last hour or two). I've seen killers say it back, if not even first. Yet survivors are the ones who scold other players or mock the killers. And I've been facecamped by killers a few times, yes, but I still defend the practice because that just leaves the other survivors to do gens. A survivor who literally just bails on his or her team, screws everybody else over just because they want the cheap win? It's disgusting. Ruining the game for other players just because you're selfish is such a sleazy way to play.
-
@Shaped said:
They are punished by emblems.
Unless the want to depip. Or are just that stupid type of player that wants a "win" at any cost. The cost in this case being the rest of the team, and even the killer him or herself.
There should be some kind of check and balance system that doesn't allow the hatch to appear unless the last survivor has actually accomplished something in the match. That should be easy enough. I mean sure, there are plenty of times when someone gets out through the hatch after playing the game. You see them running around, you run across them in mutual heals or chases, etc. I've said before that I play stealthy and find it unfair when another player scolds me for "hiding" just because they didn't see me when in fact my score reflects that I participated. Yet when you've got aura perks and see someone just ducking all the time, and slowly moving back and forth between the same general area (unless the killer comes near) and they continue to duck when you or other people nearby need saving, it's obvious that they literally aren't even playing. They're just moving enough to avoid the crows and wait for the hatch.
The one playing as Cheryl pissed me off the most because Michael was going after myself and the other survivor for a good five minutes. She EASILY could have done the one (ONE!) remaining generator and given us all a chance to escape. But no, the selfish coward just sat there on her comfy hatch waiting for us to die. That's so pathetic I hardly have the words.
I don't know about the Bill challenge, both campers were female characters.

Thanks for all the comments guys. I guess I'll just try it a couple more times. Kind of a bummer because it CAN be a tough achievement (only 9 percent of players have done it with Meg, though I'm assuming it will probably be at least twice that with Claudette), achievements should always fire, but it's not the biggest deal. I just feel naked without my aura perks, lol.

Well said, my friend, very well said.
I am glad to know that you did manage to enjoy some of the maps before it was too late. I've been playing since late 2018, maps back then were not as perfect as their 2016 / 2017 counterparts, but they looked so much better than the ones we currently have.
You are 100% correct, the game looked good. The maps were one of the countless reasons why I fell in love with this game back in 2018.
And now...I lost my favourite maps and I don't even have words to express how much I miss them.
To be honest it scares me. They tinker with this game so much - and in general I think that's a good thing, it shows care on the developer's part to keep supporting their game long after its release and trying to make improvements where they think it's necessary. But I really wish they would at least take a poll on some of these things. I hesitate to really like a character's appearance or the way a map plays or certain perks or whatnot because I'm worried that they'll just be taken away at some point.
I record all my matches and I've been kind of afraid to compare what my first month of gameplay looks like compared to how it looks now. It was startling passing by a match on old Coldwind the other day. I like the new Coldwind maps fine but yeah, I'd really like the old ones back please. And that's just one set of maps, more to come.

I will tell you, my friend, maps used to look so MUCH better. The creepy ambience was actually a thing, and that obviously includes the Fog. Something so important to the game, which is lacking nowadays.
I will never understand why did they remove it. I will never understand why they decided to rework our maps, which never required a rework to begin with.
All I know, is that I want it back.
I've been hearing that they've been reworking the maps so that they're all relatively similar on the PC and the new consoles. I couldn't care less about the new consoles so if that's true, it bugs me. I've only been playing the game for a few months but in those few months I got a bit of experience with the thick fog and I loved it. This game is way too sharp and clean and visible now. As far as I'm concerned the maps didn't need reworking, all the whiny complaints that the game looked like "a PS2 title" were just 4K ultra HD 90 inch monitor perfectionists. The game looked fine. The game looked better. These new maps with their open areas and the ability to see clear across them...meh.

What about all the Pig mains who ignore players who are willing to boop the snoot?
I know that working with survivors AGAINST other survivors is against the rules (as it should be, I find it to be absolutely pathetic behavior) but I have to admit, I didn't interpret the rule as "working together for mutual gain".
That said, that ISN'T what the game was designed for, and I myself would be bored doing it. Again, while I enjoy letting the survivors live, I still prefer to play an actual match leading up to that.
-
Two endgame bleedout slugs just this morning. I got so bored I just started crawling after the killer (Pyramid Head) and following the marks he'd make in the ground.
-
Played another Wraith match today. Green, purple and red ranks. He decimated us all at level 13. So, I mean, yeah. This nonsense about him being "merely okay" and not being noticeably better (cheaper) than he was before continues to NOT be the case whenever I see him in a match.

Ah, my friend, I want to play it too. I want to return. I would do anything to return.
When did they dramatically reduce the fog so much? And why? I just realized that I never even notice the existence of fog anymore. Isn't "the fog" a whole theme in this game? "See you in the fog" and all that? More like "see you because there isn't any fog".
-
I don't necessarily want to farm, but I do enjoy letting the survivors play a relatively chill game and getting all the escapes while I practice with killers (until the bot mode hits, that's the best I've got. It seems that the more competitively I play with a killer, the more frustrated I get).
I wish there were a universal sign or gesture that I could do with a killer to let them know that "hey, just play the game like normal - I'm gonna go after you, but I'm not going to sacrifice anybody". I want to PLAY, but I want it to be a game where the survivors know that they don't have to be sweaty because I'm not going to be either.
The last time I did this, someone in the post match said "BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD". I wrote back "I was trying to give you guys a break and play the match in a relaxed way so we could all have some fun" but of course he was already gone by then.

At least haddonfield/hawkins/midwich are visually pleasing and unique. If shelter woods were a biscuit, it would be a stale oat cake.

You guys do know that you don't have to respond anymore because I was already told that this question was asked a while back when I wasn't here, right? :)
It's cool, I got the answers I wanted. The majority of people (most importantly the devs) don't want him in the game because of the connection to a child molester (many people don't know that Wes Craven directed porn, and was even in at least one of his films (NOT as a sexual performer) but being in porn is NOTHING similar to what Victor Salva did. I'm just saying that with some digging there's usually some embarrassing stuff about a lot of people out there.
But let me reiterate: While I wish there were a way for the Creeper to be in the game without any kind of involvement or payment or thoughts of Salva (I know that's not seemingly possible but I stand by the quality of the original film all the same), I am wholly satisfied with the negative reaction people would have with his inclusion. I'm fine with it. Asked and answered. I'm not trying to change anyone's minds, I just wanted to hear the consensus. You're all welcome to keep posting in this thread, but for whatever it's worth I myself am fine with it disappearing or being deleted since I wasn't aware that it's been asked before.
But for the record, while they're not mutually exclusive, I too would be happy to see Pumpkinhead, Candyman, Pinhead, a Cenobite, any number of other famous killers as well. This was never a plea to get the Creeper in, only a question about how everyone feels about him. Now I know, so there's nothing more to be said. :)
-
I haven't had that yet but other weird things are happening. For at least a week or two now I've been getting reliable disconnects (thankfully I'm not the player who is blamed for them, the killer always is, but that's not fair either). The game is having all kinds of weird server disruptions. I also get massive lag spikes for ten to 40 seconds at least once per session which never happened before last month.
I'm typing this right now, in fact, because a good 15 minute game suddenly ended with the killer frozen in place and two of the three remaining survivors getting kicked to the lobby with "escapes".
This REALLY needs looked into.

We already have a fictional child molester in the game in the form of Freddy. I don't think we want to do anything that might put royalties in the pocket of a real one.
I would assume that the company that released the film owns the rights to the character but I never looked into it. The movie IS getting a remake, as was mentioned above you. I don't know all the whos and hows though.
Either way, while I would like to see the character, I agree that if Victor Salva made any money from it I wouldn't feel comfortable.

I think that whether anyone wants to support the charm is a personal choice that should be up to them. That said, I've been wearing it and I haven't noticed any new focused aggression because of it.

Whatever you make it out to be. To some, escaping or killing is a win. To others, getting 4Es or 4Ks is a win. To still others, pipping is a win. Some people even prefer to DEpip.
Some people think of winning as gaining all the achievements, maxing out all the characters, etc. It really boils down to personal choice. To me, escaping as a solo survivor is a win and getting at least a couple of kills is a win.

Thanks for the topics guys. But don't feel obligated to respond, I understand now that this is previously covered territory and don't mean to rehash any controversial topics.
The Springtrap thing is interesting. Not being anywhere NEAR a superfan of Five Nights at Freddy's (only played the first game, and never beat it at that), I followed the lore and it actually gets pretty dark. Springtrap is the decaying bunny-shaped animatronic that houses an equally rotted corpse of a child murderer who fled into the trap to hide from the souls of the children he killed, and which sprung (hence the name) closed like an iron maiden, killing him. It's a really unique idea and some of the subsequent games show the character essentially being consumed by hell for what he'd done.
Yet, like I said about the anime discussion, FNAF is so distinctly already its own thing that, to me, it doesn't feel like it would fit properly in a game like this one.

I'm here from the beginning of this game and the community was always like that. Forums are dominated by killers and whenever they see a pro-survivor post they flood it with "this is a bait" replies. That's their childish way of attacking anything that doesn't fit their view on this game.
I try not to pick sides, or, if I'm being honest, I would say that from my impression the killer mains are more defensive and sarcastic whereas the survivor mains seem to do the most complaining overall.
To each their own, I don't have a dog in the fight. I've just sometimes found myself thinking "this guy made a fair point, why is everyone slamming it as "bait"? But sometimes one's reputation precedes oneself. I haven't been here to see all the drama (which is why I asked. :P)

I believe it was brought up a decent amount of time ago, in which they responded they had no interest in making a Jeepers Creepers chapter because of the director's crimes. And I'm in the same boat as you- I saw the film way before I knew of what he had done, and I liked the film decently enough. I thought the Creeper was scary, I liked the Premise (even though it was very Pennywise) I do like the Creeper, but it's just... Tough, you know? At the end of the day, even though it has its issues, I'd rather keep DbD far away from it.
And you don't really have to apologize for bringing up old topics. It happens all the time- Hell, I've done it a few times. Mostly on accident, but it still happens. If you haven't discussed it before, it's perfectly fine to make a topic about (imo).
Thanks, I appreciate that. I just used to moderate a forum and know how irritating it was when some buffoon would bring up a subject that had already been discussed prior, especially if that subject was pretty firmly established as "NO", lol.
It's a shame what that guy did. He made a tight little horror movie. Good atmosphere, good monster design. But what he did behind the scenes on one of his previous films was, in my opinion, completely unforgivable. I don't blame BHVR for taking the stance that they did. The company I moderated for was THQ, who did the yearly WWE wrestling games, and when Chris Benoit slaughtered his family the topic of his possible inclusion in future games was a topic of contention for years, even though the answer seemed, to most of us, painfully obvious. Still, I enjoyed hearing both sides. Was he one of the greatest wrestlers in the history of the sport? Absolutely. Did he also kill his wife and child? Yep.
